Manchester United's veteran captain Ryan Giggs has registered his 100th Premier League goal to celebrate his 36th birthday in a solid victory against Portsmouth.

We congratulate the veteran, but still very able, Giggs on this magnificient 100th goal.

There's not much to be said about the game in itself. Man U won a solid victory with Rooney scoring his first hat-trick since 2006.

A well-deserved victory for The Red Devils.

Sunderland takes another great scalp

Sunderland Arsenal 1-0

Sunderland took another great win by scoring 1 goal against Arsenal. This was the first time this season Arsenal left a Premiership pitch not scoring.

Seen over 90 minites Arsenal dominated the game, but Sunderland played a rough man to man game. I've not seen Fabregas not posseing the ball in that way. So the strategy for Sunderland worked. They have now won over Liverpool and Arsenal, equalled Manchester United and lost only to Chelsea (after leading the game).

Arsenal had ample chances, but it seems they're sorely missing Van Persie, since the play in the box was really not that dangerous. Sunderland on the other hand took their chance when Bent scored. Bent's header from a Reid corner cannoned back off his legs at the far post and fell perfectly for his strike partner to smash it home before Almunia could get there.

Wenger immediately sent on Theo Walcott and Vela for Rosicky and Eduardo, but it was Arshavin who very nearly came to their rescue with three minutes remaining. The midfielder got to Song's cross at the far post, but he could only direct his shot into the side-netting.

With Clesea beating Wolves by 4-0, they are still at the top. Arsenal stays 2nd.

Rafael Benitez: sell Fernando Torres and I will quit Liverpool

Rafael Benítez reassured Liverpool supporters last night that he would never sanction the sale of Fernando Torres to pay part of the club’s debt.

Asked whether an offer of £100 million or more would tempt Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr to sell their superstar striker, the Liverpool manager smiled and said: "It won’t happen. I’d quit."

In a wide-ranging interview with The Times — his first with a British national newspaper — Benítez strenuously defended his record in the transfer market, but admitted that he had taken gambles and made mistakes.

Manager and chief executive may face a difficult transfer window, with the priority being to lower the wage bill. Three or four players may head out of the Anfield exit door, with none of the cash heading back to Benítez, but there will be no civil war behind the scenes. "We are progressing," he said. "I’m happy and want to do the best for this club."

With all the problems Liverpool are facing all eyes are on Benítez. Liverpool are close to falling out of the Champions League. If this happens we think Benítez is in real trouble. Next few weeks are crucial for them all: Liverpool, Benítez and Torres
