International Scholarships for Masters Courses, Faculty of Technology University of Plymouth

The Faculty of Technology operates an International Scholarship Scheme for self fee-paying students. New entrants to a Faculty of Technology postgraduate course who have an outstandingly good result from a previous undergraduate level course are eligible to apply. The Scholarships are limited to those who would pay tuition fees at the overseas level, i.e. students who are not from the United Kingdom or the European Union.

There are four scholarships available for our January 2008 intake these are:
Faraday Scholarship
Bell Scholarship
Lovelace Scholarship
Shannon Scholarship

The closing date for receipt of applications is 10th December 2007. The Scholarship Selection Committee meeting will be held shortly after.

To apply you must send to the Marketing and Admissions Manager:
A completed application form
A copy of your original offer letter, if you are either holding an unconditional or conditional offer.
A reference (addressed to the Faculty Marketing & Admissions Manager) in a sealed envelope either included with the applcation or sent at a later date.
Any documents with information relevant to your previous study such as transcripts or certificates showing the subjects you have studied and the final marks obtained.

Italy PhD Scholarships in Economics at University of Milan

The University of Milan has launched a call for application, based on qualifications and interviews, for admission to the Graduate School in Social, Economic and Political Sciences for the following
Ph.D. Programmes:

Ph.D. in Economics – Director Prof. Franco Donzelli (franco.donzelli@unimi.it)
At least 11 students will be admitted to this Ph.D. programme, 6 of these with a scholarship.

Ph.D. in Labour Studies – Director Prof. Ida Regalia (ida.regalia@unimi.it)
At least 6 students will be admitted to this Ph.D. programme, 3 of these with a scholarship.

Ph.D. in Political Studies – Director Prof. Paolo Martelli (paolo.martelli@unimi.it)
At least 6 students will be admitted to this Ph.D. programme, 3 of these with a scholarship.

At least 8 students will be admitted to this Ph.D. programme, 4 of these with a scholarship.

For the academic year 2007/2008 there are two selection phases.
The first selection has been closed at the end of April and five scholarships have been assigned (3 by the Ph.D. in Economics and 2 by the Ph.D. in Sociology).

In this second selection, there will be 12 scholarships, assigned as following:
Ph.D. in Economics – 4 scholarships
Ph.D. in Labour Studies – 3 scholarships
Ph.D. in Political Studies – 3 scholarships
Ph.D. in Sociology – 2 scholarships.

Up to eight of these twelve scholarships can be designated to non EU applicants.
This selection will offer also 16 positions without scholarship.

Candidates that already applied in the first stage may re-apply for this second selection.
The admission committee will be the same of the first selection for every Ph.D. programme.

The application form must arrive to the University of Milan (Università degli Studi di Milano, Segreterie Studenti - Ufficio Dottorati e Master, via Festa del Perdono, 7 - 20122 Milano, Italy), on pain of exclusion from the competition, no later than August 30th, 2007.

Full Scholarships in Microbiology for International Students, Mahidol University Bangkok

The program is designed to attract outstanding international graduates with a high aptitude for science and a strong desire to pursue PhD microbiological research in Thailand. Each qualified candidate accepted into this program will receive a full scholarship covering tuition fees and stipend sufficient to allow the student to devote his/her full time to graduate studies and research (except air ticket between Thailand and your home country).

The scholarships require that the accepted candidates must do research in the areas of ecology, ornithology, antimycobacterial drug discovery, dengue virus, enzyme from microbials, and avain influenza.

University of Sydney International Research Scholarship (USIRS) for Master Degree

The University of Sydney invites candidates who are eligible to undertake a Postgraduate Research Degree or Master’s by Research program at this University to apply for the University of Sydney International Research Scholarship (USIRS).

The objective of the USIRS is to attract top quality international postgraduate students to undertake research projects which will enhance the University’s research activities. The USIRS is open to all research disciplines, however participation in the USIRS program each semester is at the discretion of the Dean of each faculty. These scholarships will be awarded to eligible applicants during the selection process for the Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarhsip (EIPRS).

The USIRS will cover tuition fees and living allowance for up to three years with a possibility of one semester’s extension for PhD students.

Applicants who wish to be considered for the EIPRS and USIRS awards for semester 1, 2008 may indicate this by completing the relevant section of the Postgraduate Research Application form. To be considered for an award for semester 1, 2008 applications for admission to a research degree MUST be received by the International Office by 31 July 2007.

PhD Scholarship in Model Predictive Control for Managed Pressure Drilling

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)The Department of Engineering Cybernetics at The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in cooperation with the Center for Integrated Operations in the Petroleum Industry, invites applications for a PhD scholarship in Model Predictive Control for Managed Pressure Drilling.

The PhD scholarship is for four years. A minimum of one year has to be spent at NTNU, but for the remaining period the place of work can be either at NTNU in Trondheim or at SINTEF Petroleum Research in Bergen.

Applicants should hold a Masters degree in a relevant subject, e.g., Engineering Cybernetics/Control Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Physics.
The objective of the grant is to obtain a PhD degree, hence the successful applicant must be enrolled as a PhD candidate at NTNU.

Research Fellowship Programme for Young Muslim Scholars

The Asian Muslim Action Network (AMAN) is pleased to announce the sixth round of the research fellowship program, Islam in Southeast Asia: View from within.
The fellowship grants will be awarded for innovative research on issues concerning economic, socio-political and cultural changes taking place in the diverse Muslim communities of Southeast Asia, especially as they relate to modernization and globalization

The fellowship consists of an average research grant of $5,000 to cover all research costs for a maximum period of six months in the original country of resercher, and funded participation in mentoring workshops.The Secretariat will arrange for editing, publication and distribution of the report in a "work in progress" series.

To apply for this fellowship program, candidates need to submit a complete research proposal. Proposed research projects should include sufficient details so that it can be judged for its merit and feasibility.

Australian Development Scholarship (ADS)

Australian Development Scholarship (ADS) are funded by the Government of Australia for postgraduate study at Australian universities. The main goal of ADS is to promote Indonesia's human resource capacity to contribute to:
-Improving economic management;
-Strengthening democratic institutions and practice;
-Increasing the accessibility and quality of basic social services; and
-Enhancing security and stability.

Scholarships have played a significant role in Australia's development cooperation program in Indonesia, with around 11,000 scholarships provided over more than 50 years. ADS continues to be a major component of the program with up to 270 scholarships offered in 2007/2008.

Macquarie University’s International Scholarship Program is aimed at attracting outstanding students from around the world and recognising students who have distinguished themselves academically in their specific discipline area. The scholarship is highly competitive and is awarded on the basis of academic merit.

The Scholarship provides course fees for the minimum course duration. No additional allowances are payable. The scholarship does NOT provide financial support in the form of a living allowance, nor does it provide for the cost of visa application, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), airfares, accommodation, conferences or other costs associated with study. Annual renewal of the Scholarship is subject to satisfactory performance in the Macquarie University degree program.
