Pancake Loves Vegetables

2016-06-18T19:45:00.000-07:00

Cats are generally considered carnivores, but that doesn't stop some of them from enjoying vegetables. Pancake is specifically one example. In this video, Pancake feasts on lettuce like a delectable treat. His baby face expression is priceless.

Other vegetables that Pancake enjoys snacking on include pumpkin bits and cucumber strips. Before you feed your kitty any vegetables though, please look into whether it is safe for them to eat. For examples, onions and garlic can be toxic to our feline companions.

Kittens Plerplexed by LED Bug Toy

2016-06-11T22:01:00.000-07:00

This video was captured when the kittens were 4 months old. As dedicated cat parents, we often pick up a couple new toys along with food & other necessities when we visit the pet stores. We didn't expect this hilarious reaction that Vanilla and Cream Puff had to the LED bug toy. Their silliness and innocence are too cute to watch.

Kittens' First Adventure on a Gigantic Paw

2016-02-17T20:42:00.000-08:00

After a brief hiatus, the four exotic shorthair kittens from papa Muffin and mama Kissy rejoin the show. On their first trip out of the nest at about 3 weeks old, they venture onto a Giant Paw that cushions their journey. They very vocally express their excitement and concern as they search for their source of food, grooming, and comfort: their mama Kissy.

Looking closely though, there is one cream-colored kitten who appears to be the calm in the storm of cries; named Cream Puff, she keeps her composure throughout the show, even when being "stepped on" by others. Follow along our videos to see how Cream Puff and her siblings experience the vast new world.

Four Sweet Rolls: Hello World at 3 Weeks Old

2015-08-22T23:50:00.000-07:00

At 3 weeks old, Muffin and Kissy Pie's kittens (The 4 Sweet Rolls) are all eyes-wide-open and meowing away at mama Kissy for some love and food. The two girls (cream-white and dilute calico) are more vocal about their needs than the two boys (both blue tabby and white) in the background.

Kissy Pie makes a brief appearance to check in on her fur babies.

CaT-Feine

With the popularity of Cat Cafes, we created our own version at home. Seen in this video are 5-month old Exotic Shorthair kittens, Muffin, Bun Bun, and Ducky following the footsteps of their daddy featured in the "Jumbo Teacup Kitten" video (http://youtu.be/whPNKx6P3kE). Here, we left a large coffee mug on the floor to see what would happen. As you can see, cats love to squeeze into tight spaces. And it appears that the tighter the space, the more comfortably cute the kittens.

Our observations:

1. Muffin goes well with SweetFurr CaTFe branded coffee, but appears to have a soporific effect.

2. Bun Bun mixed with our ExoSpresso (for Exotic Shorthair Espresso) will make your tail stand up with a wide open expression.

3. Add an ExoSpresso to your Ducky Latte to get the extra bounce in your step to get you through the day.

After creating SweetFurr videos for the past 5 years, we will be saying our goodbyes today. Like a friend who has moved far far away, we may rarely be back to visit, but for the most part will be gone. A heartfelt thanks to those who appreciated and supported our videos! (^-^)

Muffin celebrates Birthday with Catnip Cigars and Singing Bear

2014-06-15T16:22:00.000-07:00

Muffin simply can't get enough of catnip, especially when it is packaged into little cigars. Not only do the catnip cigars from Yeowww seem to be one of the longest lasting catnip toys that we have tried, but they also are Muffin's favorite. Because he loves them so much, we bought Muffin a new case of fresh catnip cigars for his First Birthday on June 5th, 2014. You can see the joy in his face as Muffin hugs and kicks the cigar with an innocent pleasure. The most adorable part is when Muffin rubs the cigar against his puffy cheeks. So precious! A whiff of catnip cigar is even enough to instill bravery into Muffin as he confronted the singing Birthday Teddy Bear.

A special thanks to the human parents of Bun Bun and Ducky for loving our kittens as part of their family, and for all the wonderful pictures in the collages towards the end of the video.

Cat Daddy Jumbo Hanging Out With Sons

2014-06-05T20:55:00.000-07:00

http://youtu.be/iHmMsMVTZBs

Dedicated to all the fathers out there, cat daddy, Jumbo Pillow, and his kitten sons got together to track down a hummingbird that had wondered into SweetFurr land during the wee hours of the morning. During their hunt, they maneuvered around a giant flower tree and took strategic positions (many of which were too much cute) to surround the intruder. However, the cat daddy and sons quartet were so amicably gentle that they allowed the hummingbird to fly away into the night. They eventually settled for chasing a butterfly that was wandering about.

After their gathering, a couple of Jumbo cat daddy's kittens, Bun Bun and Ducky, left the comfort of their nest to explore new environments and spread joy to two of our closest friends and family members. They are adored and loved in their homes beyond words. Happy 1st Birthday to them both as they enter into their adulthoods!

Kitten Shower Curtain Party with Family

2014-04-29T19:52:00.000-07:00

Cats and shower curtains. You can never predict what will happen, especially with a kitten adventurer like Bun Bun. Once he got going, Bun Bun was bouncing all over the bathtub, only pausing to generate suspense, leading to a surprise attack. At one point, daddy Jumbo Pillow decided to crash the party, but merely appeared discombobulated by the whole affair. Lesson learned: curtains = catnip for kitten Bun Bun's soul.

Kitten Ducky says "I See U"

2014-02-27T13:14:00.000-08:00

Some cats really enjoy playing hide and seek as it brings out the stealthy hunter side of them. Of the three kitten brothers, Ducky loves this game the most. However, because of his adorably cartoonish voice frequently announcing his presence, it is unlikely that he would make a very good hunter. Still, he has a wonderful time with running to catch you.

Especially when they pop up out of no where, and are brushing up against you.

Kittens' Seasons Greetings

http://youtu.be/XIxqGwbqosY
Tiger's Exotic Shorthair kittens (Muffin, Bun Bun, and Ducky) have just turned 6 months old and are ready for some holiday festivities. First, they indulge in Christmas melodies to set the mood. This was especially true with Muffin, who adoringly relaxed on his back to the holiday music. Then, the kittens briefly greeted Santa, but was totally captivated by the Christmas tree, playfully swatting at its dangling ornaments and strings of presents. Bun Bun, in particular, enjoyed the tree so much that he kept sitting straight up to excitedly grasp the tree branch and ornaments.

Three Little Kittens With Spiffy Ties

2013-09-25T17:42:00.000-07:00

http://youtu.be/JiIqOfIjx6U
As seen here, the three Exotic Shorthair Kittens are 4 months old, ready to take on the world. After a long morning of job hunting, Muffin, Bun Bun, and Ducky relax with some playtime. They take after their uncle Pancake, dressed to impress with a spiffy tie, learning to utilize technology on a laptop and iPads, then playing hard with dragonflies and other dangling toys.
Would you hire one of them? And what kind of jobs would you offer them? ;D

Kittens Meet Their Half-Sister Marshy

2013-09-12T16:59:00.003-07:00

http://youtu.be/j_KnahnZYlE
First meetings. You never know how things will pan out when you first meet someone. Jumbo Pillow and Tiger's 3 kittens turned 3 months old here, and got to meet their half-sister, Marshmallow, in the comfort of their kitten room for the first time. Prior to this meeting, we tried to acclimate them to one another through scent and encounters separated by a physical barrier like a gate or door. During the first meeting, we tried to temper the excitement and anxiety of meeting a stranger by introducing them to one another through something that they all enjoy: playtime. It didn't go as smoothly as planned as there were still episodes of tension with hissing fits especially between Ducky and Marshy. But within 1-2 days of supervised visits, Marshy and her half-brothers are getting along much better.

Kittens Rolling in Hamster Ball

2013-08-28T10:03:00.000-07:00

http://youtu.be/957bTFm8n2w
The 3 exotic shorthair kittens (Muffin, Bun Bun, and Ducky) have turned 11 weeks old here and recently completed their core vaccinations (other than rabies), now ready to take on the rest of the world. Here, they tackle a couple of different-sized hamster balls, rolling about in adorable manner with their angelic faces shining through the see-through ball. Their appearance is reminiscent of the toy capsules that you often see in vending machines, albeit with the cuteness overload amplified by 1000-fold. Of course, no kitten video is complete without the appearance of mother Tiger, who always makes sure her babies are safe.

Kids visiting the Kittens

2013-08-15T16:14:00.002-07:00

http://youtu.be/fX4Q4EjEFrw
Jumbo Pillow & Tiger's 9-week old Exotic Shorthair kittens were visited by two adorable little humans, our 9-month old niece and a 7&1/2-year-old niece. The older niece in particular is a superfan of our kitty videos, so when the family was in the area, she could not miss the opportunity to visit. She was really excited to play with the kitties, and as you can imagine, could not bring herself to leave the kitten playroom. The kittens, however, were initially wary of strangers, but quickly warmed up to our nieces after gentle, innocent taps by the 9-month old, and through play with the older niece using a laser toy. Their supervised interactions with the kittens were simply precious.

As you can see, introduction of strangers (humans and other animals alike) through play or feeding treats are good methods to make your furbabies feel safe and more comfortable with someone new.

Kittens Slip and Slide on a New Friend

2013-08-08T00:38:00.000-07:00

Tiger's exotic shorthair kittens were ecstatic when they stumbled upon a blue elephant on the jungle green floor. During their 8th week of life, the kittens befriended the elephant, earning them unlimited slides down the elephant's smooth trunk along with free rides on its head and a new hiding place. Witness their excitement as they continue to explore their environment while hopping up and sliding down an elephant.

WiFi Monitoring the Daily Life of Kittens

2013-07-29T23:37:00.000-07:00

http://youtu.be/YrNBPSqdm7o

In preparation for Tiger & Jumbo's kittens, we had installed a WiFi baby camera to monitor the kittens' room. The idea was to allow for a sense of privacy between mama Tiger and her kittens while ensuring that the kittens were safe and receiving adequate nutrition. This is especially important to monitor because Tiger is a first-time mom/queen. The WiFi kitten monitor has worked out very well as it not only lets us take decent pictures and record videos, but it has also helped us save the kittens from a couple of precarious situations. For storage, the WiFi monitor utilizes a micro SD card. iPhone and Android apps also make it easy to access the monitor from anywhere, and to save stills and videos directly onto our phones. The main downside is that the low framerate results in video lags that is not optimal for capturing kitten playtime interactions.

This video is a compilation of clips captured on the WiFi kitten monitor to share with you the daily ins and outs of kitten life during weeks 6 and 7 after birth. It starts off with mama's wakeup call around 5am for mealtime, after which mama routinely grooms her furbabies. It then cycles between playtime, sleep, and mealtimes, rinse and repeat. At around 5-6 weeks old, the kittens have already started weaning themselves to eat kitten dry food and lapping fresh water from mama's bowl. At 6-7 weeks, they are incredibly active and playful. Naturally, there are sporadic potty breaks and human interaction times that are not shown here.

4-week-old Kittens Ride in Style

2013-07-14T17:26:00.000-07:00

http://youtu.be/61_3bpAPF78

Tiger & Jumbo’s exotic shorthair kittens were 4 weeks old when they learned to climb out of their nest box. Mama Tiger was initially very anxious whenever her furbabies escaped the nest, loudly voicing her concerns as you can hear in this video. Tiger eventually got used to her babies leaving the nest, becoming more playful with them with her gentle paw taps. Here, the kittens are enjoying a soft, comfortable car ride, posing for the camera while playing to their hearts’ content.

Kittens in Piglet Donuts

Approaching 3 & 1/2 weeks, Tiger's litter of kittens are starting to explore the world outside of their nest with their waddling gait.
They curiously survey their surroundings nose and tongue first as those are their most developed senses. At the end of their short exploration, they enjoy a comfortable respite on a cushion of piglets, whom they interestingly resemble with their pink paddings, nose, and round, smooshed facies.

Tiger's Kittens Waving Hello to Week 3

2013-06-28T23:58:00.000-07:00

Tiger and Jumbo's exotic shorthair kittens are 3 weeks old here with wide-opened blue eyes. They seem to bask in their developing vision, waving hello to anything that moves while lying on their backs without a care in the world. Their gaits are more steady, though they still wobble walk.

Of note, all kittens are born with blue eyes that mature into varying shades of copper, green, or remain blue around 6-8 weeks old.

Tiger Having a Conversation with Her Kittens

2013-06-22T23:27:00.000-07:00

Such a sweet scene capturing Tiger's group talk with her growing kittens.

Exotic shorthair mama cat, Tiger, has always loved to talk to her kittens since day one. However, it was not until they were around 2 weeks old, as seen here barely opening their eyes and gradually unfolding their ears, that the kittens could carry on any meaningful conversations with mama cat.

Firstborn kitten, Muffin (the kitten with the most red coloring of his coat), especially knows how to catch mama's attention with his dramatic vocalizations, while the other kittens are more mellow and get less of a response from Tiger. It is endearing how they talk back and forth to one another.
