Reopening My Coupon Blog.

2014-06-25T12:21:00.001-07:00

So.

I have abandoned working on this blog because I realized that I was passionate about more things than just couponing, and I didn't want to be reflected as just a coupon mom.

I have lots of other things I wished to share and this blog just wasn't fulfilling my personal needs as a blogger.

Since then I have started VintageModMom and I love it!!!

However, I realize this blog still serves a very good purpose, so I think I'm going to reopen this blog and start construction immediately so that it can function as a coupon blog, also it will keep all these resources right where they need to be instead of overloading VintageModMom.

I am not making any formal promises as to when this site will be normally updated again AND furthermore it may only be updated once a week.

Running VintageModMom is already pretty intense and I'm still in the beginning stages.. so really, taking this blog on may be a huge mistake, but I'm going for it anyway.

Wish me luck.

Thanks.

Update.

2012-08-08T04:48:00.001-07:00

So I know my blog has been a bit stark lately, but I've been busy researching and working!
New things to look forward to:
Gobs of Mommy resources
~~More Work at Home Information~~
Financial Discussions
And lots more money saving deals!
-I am also preparing to become a .com!!

So everyone enjoy your Wednesday!
More updates to come later!

*UPDATE*
So here are some more ways to make a little bit of extra cash..
Earn some extra cash!!
This definitely isn't a "get rich quick" kind of thing but.. extra cash is always good.
Fill out surveys, do some tasks.. every little bit helps!
(Get $5 just for signing up!)
-You can redeem via check, paypal or direct deposit after earning $25

Swagbucks is another great way to earn some extra stuff!!

I'm finding new ways everyday to earn more points!

Use your points for gift cards etc!!
If surveys and watching tv isn't your thing then download the toolbar and do searches..

I earned 29 swagbucks yesterday on ONE search!

(Note that points vary and are not awarded EVERY time you search)

(Read about the Swagbucks Superstars here!)

And last but not least Cash Crate
Another good point/cash site!
(Surveys, offers, tasks, etc)
-Redeem cash after earning $20

I am a member of all 3 of these sites!

They won't get you rich fast but you can make a little something on the side..

I recommend opening a special email account for these seeing as you will most likely get some spam..

I absolutely HATE spam so I use OtherInbox to keep it OUT of my regular email and so far I'm super impressed!

(So far= about 3-4 months now)

I rarely (if ever) receive spam anymore, it goes straight to the spam folder, which is fabulous because I get upwards of 1,000 spam messages a day between surveys, offers and coupons but I never have to see them :)

If you do get a message in your inbox you don't wish to see ever again move it to the "Unsubscribe" folder and OtherInbox will do the process for you!!

I can't tell you how great it is to not have to deal with unsubscribing from each email individually it's absolutely amazing!!

Now, back to business-

Remember these kind of things take time and patience! If you stick with it you can do fairly well in a months time..

Think about if you only earn $10/day, that's still an extra $300/month!!

That's a month's grocery bill for us!!
(The higher paying offers may require a purchase, but as an example, if you get $10 just for trying the product and all you have to pay is the $1.95 S&H you're still making $8.05 and receiving a free product.. just make sure it's something you would use or are interested in.. but honestly you can earn money without ever paying a cent!)

I'm still preparing for a rather large update!

The next update will include an extensive researched amount of mom resources

so don't miss out!!

Sunday Savings

2012-08-05T14:06:00.001-07:00

Well I finished clipping coupons and checking out this weeks deals so far and..
Target has a great deal on Bounce Bars (which I love btw).

Buy 2 Bounce Bars (6 month) $8.00 each = $16.00
Get a free $5.00 Target Gift Card!

I usually don't go for the gift card deals, but this one was worth sharing!
$16.00 is pretty reasonable for a year's supply... That's under $1.50/month.
If you live in one of the areas that got the Target insert on 6/29 you can save another $1.00!

Happy August!

2012-08-02T08:19:00.001-07:00

Having a complete detailed list was absolutely amazing and I was able to easily match up my coupons! I got everything that I needed according to my meal plan and stayed on budget!!

I will try to post my savings breakdown later this afternoon!

On Sale for $15.00!!!!

I had one of these when I was in college and I LOVED it!!!!

I would really like to have one now.... It's pretty much impossible to get my stairs vacuumed with my larger vacuum! Plus, with a toddler this is great for quick clean ups..

Yup definitely going to have to consider getting one for myself!! lol.

Target is already offering great prices on back to school supplies, but I'm anxious to see what the tax free weekend (Aug 3-4) will bring :)

Failure is a Friend

Well one of the more challenging and frustrating things about being a new Homemaker is that failures are inevitable..

At first it was hard for me to cope with complete failures lol. Especially in the kitchen..

Until I got married I could only cook simple things..

Ramen, Grilled Cheese, Noodles & Sauce..

But now I'm in the big leagues.. Momma and wife.

So I want to make sure my boys have the best!!!

This is going to sound rather ridiculous but, maybe it will encourage someone lol.

My most recent failure turned finally success was something as easy as homemade corn chips.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but the price of chips (especially name brands like Doritos, Tostitos, etc) has really shot up.. It's sad when $3 for a bag of chips is sale price.. and coupons for chips like that only come around about once a month.. if we're lucky lol.

So.. I started buying corn tortillas and decided to embark on my own chip making..

At first it was easy.. I was frying them lol.

Needless to say.. the mess, the time, the grease.. just not necessary..

So I decided I could bake them..

Not too hard right??

Well... needless to say it took about 3-4 times before they finally came out completely crunchy... lol.

But once they did it was fabulous..

And all I needed to do was increase the baking time.. (or cut them smaller)

Baking them is so much faster.. and healthier.. and now we can have chips whenever we want!

The other good thing about buying corn tortillas is that you can make so much with them!!

(And they can be frozen)

Make Taco Pies or Super Nachos..

So far I've just used seasoned salt and salt on them which is pretty delicious..

But I think I'm going to try some of the popcorn seasonings..

($1.98ea... can't really beat that..)

I think if I sprinkle some on before I bake them then we can really have homemade chips!!!

I guess I said all that to finally say that last night my husband said:

"I'm glad you don't give up easily"

(crunch, crunch.. as we're eating my baked chips & salsa)

And honestly I guess I'm glad I don't either lol.

Tonight for dinner we're having Crockpot Steak, Mashed Potatoes w/ Homemade Gravy & Veggies (maybe biscuits)

Cooking more from scratch has really saved us some money and honestly ruined my taste for junk food.. lol. I recently bought some BagelBites and HotPockets (favorites of mine) and I found that I didn't like them anymore... I was sad.. but happy too!

After all I prefer my own cooking!!!

I've been keeping a chart with our dinners/prices and it looks like dinner is costing us about $1 each every night :)

Even the Dollar Menu can't beat that...

Well.. No Classy Housewife can be without classy shoes :)

Check out my new love...

These are on sale for $13!

And... Heels too :)

They do carry more than just red lol.

But these are totally cute.

Okay.. I wrote about PerkStreet in my Financial section but...

I AM SO EXCITED!!

My checks and pin number have arrived!!!

Now all I'm waiting on is my debit card..

Looks like I will be using my new account for groceries this time!!

I know a lot of grocery-guru mommas have moved to cash system...

Well..... I had a change of mind on that since I can transfer funds before I go grocery shopping and earn cash back on my purchases...

Plus... who says you have to spend the whole budget??

I think this will be great for us..

Stay tuned I'm going to keep updates on how this is going!!

Well that's all for now!

Check back later for more updates!

Friday! Coupon Preview, Men's Clothing, Crocs & Arbys!!

Overall I saved $46.69 at Winn Dixie

Staying on track with grocery lists and coupons

So my first attempt at weekly shopping was a bit unsuccessful, but I have realized why. Since I've been shopping every 2 weeks there were a lot more things I needed. However, even though I went shopping this weekend I already have another list started.

This week I am going to prepare a grocery list for Friday just to get the items that end up on my list by the end of the week.

I can look for coupons on the things I've listed so far daily..

Here is an example:

This is what my list looks like already

Ziplocs

Eggs

Milk

Paper Towels

Sugar

Flour

Shampoo/Conditioner

Anti Bac Body Wash

Hand Soap

Bananas

So I'm going to start my coupon matching.. I know the circular deals don't come out until Wednesday, but there's no harm in being prepared. I think this is going to change the way I shop.

Here are the coupons I've found so far:

Ziplocs:

$1/2 Ziploc

I have quite a few coupons for eggs, I think I will just keep them all together until the deals come out sometimes Winn Dixie will offer (18) Count Large eggs for $1.99

I also still have the luxury of WIC for now so I won't have to worry about milk.

Paper Towels:

$1/1 Marcel Small Steps Paper Towels

$1/1 Sparkle Paper Towels 6 reg

(I will probably end up using this one usually WalMart carries 6ct Sparkle for $4.97)

$1/1 6pk Brawny (Facebook)

Sugar

$0.75/1 Dixie Crystals Granulated Sugar 4 lb, 5 lb, or 10 lb

$0.75/1 Imperial Sugar Granulated Sugar 4 lb, 5 lb, or 10 lb

Flour

I have yet to find any coupons for flour. However, I know they come around so maybe next time.

Shampoo/Conditioner

I'm hoping by Friday I'll still be able to pick up the Target Deal on Garnier

$1/1 Garnier Hair Care Target Coupon+

$1/1 Garnier Fructis Shampoo, Conditioner Coupons.com (exp 08/02/2012)

(Garnier $0.99 ea - I love this deal and catch it often!)

AntiBacterial Body Wash

$1/2 Dial Body Wash RP Insert (exp 07/28/2012)

Hand Soap

$0.50/1 Up&Up Hand Soap

$1.00 Off Gud Hand Soap (Facebook)

Bananas

Sometimes Chiquita.com or Chiquita's FB offers coupons but none as of right now, which is okay because they're about $0.54/lb

So here is my new system for keeping on top of my list and doing away with unnecessary purchases!! Wednesday when the new sales come out I will already have my list and coupons ready to match!!

To find coupons for your own shopping list check my Coupon Database and my Manufacturer Coupons!!

OR check out this great deal from Plum District today!

$15 for an Annual Membership to Coupon Warehouse ($99 Value)

I have to say this is a pretty spectacular deal if you don't like to find/clip your own coupons or if you just don't have the time..

This discount brings the price from $8.25/mo to $1.25/mo

I'm also keeping track of the meals I make for the next 3 weeks or so along with prices and coupons so I can create a menu in the future..

I stumbled upon this beauty this weekend and I think it's going to be a fabulous help:
