Why, Hello there Lovelies!!

I know its been quite sometime since we've last been here! But I've missed blogging so much!! So I've decided to come back to the beauty blogging world! Yay! I've realized that between studying to become a nurse and working full-time, that I need to get down to blogging and once again sharing my love of all things beauty!

With that said, can you believe holiday collections are already coming out?! I know, right?! Its October! But you know what? I love it! I love holiday collections because that's when I voyage out and try new products and brands because they're usually packaged into a phenomenal value! One brand that I've just recently dove into is Too Faced! I recently picked up and fell in love with their Le Creme lipsticks and the gorgeous Candlelight Glow highlighter. So I thought I'd check out their eye shadows and this new holiday palette is having me craving bon bons and more Too Faced!

The Too Faced Shadow Bon Bons palette features 12 eye shadows, a mini Shadow Insurance in "Candlelight" and a full sized Lashgasm mascara for the sweet price of $42.

What drew me to this palette is all the warmer, more golden tones of the palette, yet some wearable purples that could make a sick smokey eye! In the first row we have Vanilla, Cut the Cake, Framboise and Coffee Bean. Vanilla is your classic matte off-white, Cut the Cake is a pretty pale lilac with a subtle silver sparkle, Framboise appears to be a deep shimmery periwinkle and Coffee Bean is a deep matte brown. The second row has Peach Fuzz, Hot Cocoa, Candy Rose and Lovey Dovey. Peach Fuzz is a sheer peach with golden shimmer, Hot Cocoa is a pretty medium brown with gold sheen, Candy Rose is a pale pink with silver shimmer and Lovey Dovey is a gorgeous deep mocha brown with bronze sheen. The last row has to be my favorite of the palette with Nude Beach, Cinnamon Sugar, Marzipan and Licorice Latte. Nude Beach is a beautiful sandy champagne with gold glitter, Cinnamon Sugar is a very pretty bronzed gold, Marzipan is a light matte brown and Licorice Latte is an amazing black with gold shimmer!

I found the formula to be rich and velvety for the majority of the shadows. I noticed when blending Framboise out that it can look a little muddy if blended too much. Cut the Cake, Candy Rose and Peach Fuzz seemed to be the least pigmented, however I think that was the intent; especially with the sheerness of Peach Fuzz which is very appropriately named. I did experience a bit of glitter fallout with Nude Beach but that is expected with glitter shadows!

I have always been an UDPP girl when it comes to eye bases, so this was my first experience with Too Faced's famous Shadow Insurance. I will say I love the color of "Candlelight" its a gorgeous golden sheen! Its such a pretty glow and luminosity to the lids! I didn't experience any creasing but noticed a little fading. I don't think I'd use this doing a full eye look, just because it might ruin the effect of the matte colors but its great for giving a glow to lighter shadows! As far as the Lashgasm mascara, I'm on the fence. With one coat, I get beautifully separated and lengthened lashes but with a second coat, I get spider lashes! No me gusta gloopy-clumpy-lashes! However, if you were to layer a different mascara over it, you could get a kick ass affect!

Overall, I really like this palette! I think the colors are perfect for the winter, you can do a warm golden eye or a look inspired by the sugarplum fairies! Or, if you're feeling lazy, get a simple glowy look with "Candlelight" primer and Peach Fuzz (totally did that today!).

I will say that I'm afraid this packaging will get dirty due to its pale color and velvety goodness!

May 2012 Birchbox! Gossip Girl!

Hello Lovelies!

For the past year, I've been thinking these monthly subscription services were a waste of money. This is because I can get samples from ordering online, or asking in store for free sooo I didn't see the allure of paying for samples that I could otherwise get for free!

But I caved in and decided to subscribe to Birchbox. I've seen videos on the boxes and I was the most impressed with their brands and selection! And that they had great full sized products in their boxes! Not to mention, they had the best reputation as far as customer service!

For those who don't know what Birchbox is, its a monthly beauty sample subscription! You get 4-5 deluxe samples and a full size product every month for $10! Its a great way to try out new brands and products!

Without further ado, I got my first Birchbox! The May box was Gossip Girl themed. Even though I don't watch the show, I can appreciate the hair, makeup and style of it all! I'm a New Yorker so I've got a soft side for my hometown!

There were a couple different themed boxes (I don't know if this is normal for Birchbox) and I got the "Downtown Book Party" theme! Which was the one I wanted (yup, I cheated and Googled the other boxes before mine came)!

It came with a nice sleeve that featured the beautiful City skyline!

And a cute little card about the theme of the box and about Gossip Girl.

On the other side of the card is a list of products, descriptions and prices of the full size products!

The rest of the inside, all wrapped. NOTE: This box did come with a cute little XOXO note card! Sorry, forgot to photograph!

First up is a BB Cream from Dr. Jart+ and a FULL SIZE Stila Sparkle liquid liner! I am a bit scared of BB creams since I have such sensitive skin but I'll give this a go! As far the Stila liner, I couldn't wash it off! Seriously is waterproof! The color is "Curacao" and its a pretty sparkly royal blue color with a little bit of a purple feel!

Then there were all the hair samples! From Kerastase's Cristalliste line there was a shampoo, conditioner and shine serum. OHEMGEE! Do you see the full-size prices of these?! I want to know what magic these can work on my hair! Though, I don't think I would ever buy the full-size! They are REALLY fragrant, not a big fan of that!

Last but not least was a little mini bottle of nail polish from Color Club in the color "Disco Nap". Ok. I had to Google what the eff a disco nap was. Word from the Goog is that its a nap one takes before hitting the clubs. A pregame nap, if you will. Haha! But its a pretty gold polish! Maybe I can get somewhat of a tan to rock this color!

Sephora & Ulta Haul!

Hello Lovelies!

In the past 10 days I've gone to a Sephora grand opening and an Ulta grand opening! Whaaat?! Sephora opened up at my local mall, and like I mentioned before, I took the day off and it was fun! Then, this past weekend I went up to NY/NJ to visit my family and an Ulta was opening! And I've never been to an Ulta! It was quite exciting, for their opening they gave goodie bags and gift cards valued from $5 - $100 and I scored a $20 one! Yay!

First haul, Sephora! I went a little NARS crazy! Ha!

One product I have been really wanting to see in person was NARS' "Albatross" a gorgeous highlighter that looks like plain white powder online. But this is going to be one of my favorites! Gorgeous, gorgeous highlighter with an amazing gold sheen that gives you that candle-light glow!

I was on the hunt for a new summery blush and NARS' "Cactus Flower" was totally it! Its a smooth cream formula and beautiful deep rosey-coral color with gold sheen! Hopefully it will work with my oily skin.

I'm running low on my UDPP, and I have heard that NARS' primer is supposed to be like BAM! So we shall see!

Last NARS product is their velvet-matte lip pencil in "Roman Holiday", its a gorgeous vibrant pink! I haven't tried it so I hope matte doesn't equate to being dry!

Forgot to take an individual photo of this Buxom Cream Gloss (new formula!) in "White Russian". I love Buxom glosses so I'm eager to try this new formula in a pretty peach shade! Also photographed are Soap & Glory's "Hand Food", which is an amazeballz, non-greasy, hand lotion that smells great! And Jack Black lip balm in "Natural Mint", I actually got 2. One to keep by my bed and one for the purse; they're SOOO moisturizing and nice!

And now for the swatches! Left to Right: "Albatross", "Cactus Flower", "White Russian", NARS Primer and the little pink cloud is "Roman Holiday".

And now onto Ulta! It was super quiet at Ulta! Fun fact: the Ulta I went to couldn't sell anything mechanical on Sundays (the day I went) because of Jersey Blue Laws! So no one could buy blow dryers, straighteners, etc. Now you know!

I've been looking for a new powder, since I hit pan on all of mine! So I did a little research on Ulta's site and this powder got the best reviews. Its the Pur Minerals 4-1. Its not only a powder but foundation, concealer and SPF. Looks promising! I got the color "Porcelain".

Had to try some NYX products! Exciting! I picked up their HD Photogenic concealer in "Fair" and their Eyebrow Shaper which is a wax brow pencil. Hoping the concealer will help with my dark circles! And the wax pencil is nice and light!

Picked up a newly formulated Urban Decay shadow in "X" which is a beautiful peach with golden sheen! Note a theme and obsession with golden sheen? It just makes my skin look not so pasty but healthy! Anywhozie, excited to try this new formula!

Last thing from Ulta is an OPI polish in "Red Lights Ahead....Where?!" I have been looking for this polish since it came out! But there is no OPI retailer in my area! Totally love the names of the Holland Collection since I've been to the Netherlands and I'm a 25% Dutch! Gorgeous deep coral color!

And now the swatches! NYX concealer on left, then Pur powder and finally UD "X"!

This was my little goodie bag! I will say the Ulta gloss smells like cheap wine, haha.

Sephora Shopping List!

Hello Lovelies!

FINALLY. MY MALL IS GETTING A SEPHORA! I think it is mainly because the UPS man is tired of dropping Sephora packages at my house and went to our mall and yelled "GIVE THIS GIRL A SEPHORA".

As soon as I found out, a couple months ago, I screamed and then the next day I had to work I put in for a personal day for when Sephora opens. Of course, my co-workers probably think I'm crazy but I also got two of my friends to take the day off too!

So I have put together a nice little wish shopping list! It was much longer, however, I bought a lot during their recent VIB sale.

1. Benefit Magic Ink: This stuff is serious! I used it a few months ago and I have been wanting to repurchase! My UD 24/7 Liquid Liner is nearing its last line!

2. A New Light Powder: I want to check out this one from Bare Minerals, but I've hit pan on all my powders...time for a new one!

3. LORAC Matte Baked Blushes: Oh, how I've heard such amazing things about these blushes! I want to see them all!!

4. Dior's New Coral Lip Glow: The exact name of this product has escaped my head for the moment, but considering how freaking much I love the original pink Lip Glow, this seems like it'll be hot for summer!

5. Anastasia Brow Pencil in "Strawburn": ARE WE SERIOUS? FINALLY A BROW PENCIL FOR THE STRAWBERRY-BLONDES?! Yes, pleaaaaaaaaaaase!

So that's it! I'm really hoping our store will do something fun! I hear that at some openings they give away products and gift cards! Ohh that'd be amazeballz. Have you ever been to a Sephora opening?

Island Michael Kors: Very Bali

Hello Lovelies!

When you think island, what comes to mind? A gorgeous sunset, swaying palm trees, clear blue water? I'd like to think of my favorite island, Manhattan. Which only has two of the aforementioned island stereotypes, a beautiful sunset. However, I don't think there is that large of a market to create perfumes that smell like the City.

But Michael Kors knows there is an ever growing market for light, sexy Summer scents that make you think you're on an exotic island. And I LOVE it!

Michael Kors has released a new scent for the season, Island Michael Kors Very Bali. Very Bali is a light fragrance that is sexy and beachy. Since I am horrible at scent descriptions, I'll share what MK says about the fragrance:

"Introducing Island Michael Kors Very Bali .A new destination in fragrance. Escape to the ultimate glamorous destination and lose yourself in rose petals, jasmine and hints of earthy pample wood. Radiant. Soft. Sexy."

Yes, yes and yes! While I don't know what pample wood is, or what it smells like, I will agree it does have a subtle warm woodsy note.

And I've noticed I'm not the only one who enjoys this scent! I've had quite a few people ask me what I was wearing! Which is always nice to know that you smell good.

Right now this perfume comes in one size, which 1.7 oz and retails for $65. It also appears to be the only item in the line, hopefully it will come in more sizes and variations (rollerball, shower gel and lotion would be a nice set!).

I would definitely recommend getting a little spritz of this scent, next time you're at the perfume counter!

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Coral

Hello Lovelies!

Like the new digs? Well same digs, just redone a little ;)

During the Sephora Chic Week sale, I picked up a few goodies including this lip balm from Fresh! I'm a HUGE fan of the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments! I'm on my second original tube and have the color Passion!

So when I saw that Fresh released a lip balm in coral, which is very on trend for the season, I had to order!

The Fresh Lip Treatments are ultra moisturizing, lemon scented, SPF 15 lip conditioners. I use the original one, or the clear, every night before bed and my lips feel amazing and very moisturized. My lips feel very plump and full while wearing these. Which might be because of fatty acids in the balm, it doesn't tingle but just makes lips feel smooth and plump.

I'd say the coral color is very, very easy to wear. It's not bright, but is a soft orangey-peach-coral. I really love pairing this with a bronzey eye, it compliments the look without being POW CORAL!

Overall, I love this! But $22.50 price tag? Its pricey! However I'm constantly reaching for one of these balms, they protect from the sun, add a kiss of color and leave lips soft and plump! Love!

4. Sephora + Pantone Collection! This collection just makes sense! The leading beauty store and the leading authority for color? Hello awesomeee! I love the Tangerine Tango lipstick and plan on checking out the rest of the collection in store. But the colors are perfect for Spring and Summer and are really on trend!

Sephora Prisma Chrome Eyeshadow

Hello Lovelies!

Ok first, anyone else watching Kourtney & Kim Take New York? I've gotta admit, I've never been a big Kardashian fan but I wanted to see how all their current events unfolded on TV...plus mindless shows are the best. With that said, I'm watching that in the background!

So today's review is on a Sephora brand product, its their new limited edition Prisma Chrome eyeshadows.

Here is Sephora's rundown on the product:

"The new wave in eye shadow, Prisma Chrome brings together the best features of baked, powder, and cream shadows. Its revolutionary effect captures light perfectly, delivering a prismatic effect with an unbelievably smooth and true color finish."

So what is it?! I honestly had to order to figure it out. Was it a cream? Powder? Tell me more!

Its a super pigmented eye shadow that can be worked with and applied both wet and dry. I've gotta admit, I've found some Sephora brand shadows to be a bit chalky but these are a far cry from those!

The shadow applied super velvety, with no fall out and didn't crease (I did use a primer!). I only have one color which is Moon Beam 05. Its a beautiful pink/beige with an amazing opalescent sheen!

On to the photos!

The shadow itself looks almost like a sand-dune with the waves and a raised texture. Yes, it came with that dip! All part of the presentation!

Side profile, I just thought the product was so cool to photograph :)

Left is the shadow swatched dry and the right swatch is wet! It comes off a bit more pink off camera.

These shadows run $15 and are sold at Sephora and Sephora.com. They're limited edition, so I'd suggest snatching some up before they go away!

Makeup Organization/Collection!

Hello Lovelies!

I just finally decided to re-organize my makeup collection and thought I'd show you how its organized and what I used! I've got to say, I'm really happy with the turn out! I would love to have an actual vanity but for now I'm good with my desk!

Here is an overview of the whole makeup land!

I keep all of my brushes in the little Sigma brush holders. All of my mascaras, eye liners, and other misc. eye stuff are in a little bathroom cup thing from Target. I find storing them vertically is much better for liner and easier to find!

I also like to keep glosses stored vertically, and keep them in a pencil holder. I actually just cleaned out all of my glosses that were a year or older.

Most of my makeup is kept in this box from Muji, I'll link it below! I love the simple look and that you can see everything in it. My only beef is that you can't fit some products in it like MAC Paint Pots, Gel Liners and many foundations. I keep those in a little 3 Drawer system from Target (its the pink box in the first pic!).

The drawers can come completely out!

All of my eye shadows that can't be depotted, pencils, primers and mini shadow palettes are in the first drawer.

Second drawer is some highlighters, foundations and concealers. And little primers!

In the third drawer is a couple more highlighters (highlighters are huge!) and some blushes (Benefit's blushes take up half the drawer!).

Yet again, more cheek products in the 4th drawer! They take up too much space!

In the bottom drawer is lipsticks and lip butters.

Lastly I keep most of my shadows in a Z-Palette and then I also have the 2 Naked palettes! I have those and then the UD 15th Anniversary one which is on top of my clear box!

Phew! Sorry for all the photos! But there it is! I hope it gives you some good ideas in case you want to get organized!

Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in "Little Red Dress" : I love doing a red lip and this super rich, shimmery red is going to be perfect for an easy red lip, not to mention it'll be the bombdotcom for holiday parties and gatherings! Definitely a splurge, but compared to other glosses I saw, this one had a good amount of product!

Tarte MultipEYE Liquid Liner: I know, I have too much liquid liner, but I'm a sucker for pen liners (they're more hygienic than the classic pot style) and love Tarte so I thought I'd try this out. It has a great brush-tip rather than the classic felt-tip.

Benefit Watt's Up?: A new, slightly shimmery, champagne highlighter with a cream-to-powder finish. One end is the product (in a stick form) and on the other end is a blending sponge. Its super pretty and glowy!

(Top is blended out, bottom isn't!)

Makeup Forever's Duo Mat Powder Foundation in "199": I was looking for a good powder foundation for days that liquid is too much work (aka early mornings) and this one got great reviews and sounded great for my oily skin! MUFE is also pretty good with their colors!

Sephora by OPI Nailpolish in "Good Tidings We Bling": Not gonna lie, not like what was pictured online! Its a mix of chunky and fine red and green glitter, but it come off and looks pretty dark. Not that bright, I'm gonna try layering it but so far its not what I had hoped for!

Dior Amber Diamond Highlighter: This one is in the mail, just came back in stock and I've had my eye on it! It supposed to be a universally flattering powder highlight that many double as an eyeshadow palette! Definitely a splurge but it was on sale :)

Finally, the best DEAL of the sale, and for the Holiday season!

Tarte's Lip Service Limited-Edition LipSurgence Collection: 5 Tarte lip tints for the price of ONE! All full size!! The set retails for $29 but during the sale it comes down to $23ish but retails for $120!! AMAZING!! Haven't tested these for wear yet, but will do a review!! And they're perfect for gifting!

The best way to learn about a girl is to see what's in her freaking massive bag. But of course, that'd be psychotic if you were like "HI STRANGER, LET ME LOOK IN YOUR BAG! I WANNA GET TO KNOW YOU!". So obviously, "What's In My Purse" videos/blogs/articles became popular, and no restraining order needed! :) I like doing these yearly so here we gooo!

The bag of choice: Michael Kors' Large Fulton. Because every New York girl needs a good black leather hobo! I just loved the simplicity of the bag and chicness. And I love me some MK.

I like to keep my bag clean and organized! Its freaking heavy enough with all my crap!

I can never forget what happened on September 11th, 2001. It was the scariest day of my life.

It was the beginning of the sixth grade for me, I was at a new school, and was living in Metro New York (where I grew up).

My teacher's cell phone had rang around ten of 9 am. This was unusual, in 2001, cell phones weren't what we use them as now, but rather for emergencies only. She saw it was her daughter and took the call into the hall. She came back in with tears running down her face. Her daughter who lived a few blocks from the WTC had said that a plane crashed into the tower.

She told us about the "accident". We were in disbelief. A few minutes later, our principal came in and told us what had happened, and as she stood there, she heard news of the second strike. This was no accident. She told us, a room full of 10 and 11 year olds that we couldn't utter a word about this outside the classroom because our school was K-6, and she didn't want anyone under the age of 10 to hear of this. She than ran out and a few minutes later came back in and declared that school had to move to to the basement.

Teachers were shaking, crying, and carrying folders. Folders with student's contact information, like where their parents worked. Because when you live a little under an hour from Manhattan, you were about guaranteed to have one or both parents working in the city. We stayed in the basement, we had no idea why. But we had to stay calm and play games.

We were under attack. This was a war. How did this happen. We were living in a nightmare. Not an idea of what was happening, and fearing for our lives.

All day, students were in and out of the room. Teachers asking them where their parents and guardians were. We hadn't seen any of the footage. Parents came in and took their children out. I just stayed there, my mom was a single mom and working. My dad who had worked in the city, and actually at the Twin Towers during the 93 bombing, was at a business trip in Florida.

I didn't see anything until I got home that day and that's all that played. We just sat there and watched the news. How could this happen. In the days and weeks that followed it was constant fear. But at the same time, unity. We had come together, every store had an American Flag hanging up, every street corner with a sign that said "God Bless the USA". It was that comforting fact that we were all together during this horrific time, that made it easier.

Almost as if the American flag was a blanket, just comforting us and protecting us. United We Stand. We were all afraid but not alone. We all made new friends.

I remember a day or two after the attacks, Z100 had released a remix of Enrique Inglesis' "Hero", which still brings tears to my eyes.

I just want to say, God Bless America. I mean it from the bottom of my heart. And God Bless all those who lost anyone during that horrific day, and anyone who is still suffering from it. To this day, first responders are still suffering from the aftermath, from the debris and smoke. I encourage all of you to observe a moment of silence to remember all the innocent lives lost that day, and to be thankful. Thank your local fire departments, police, EMTs. And say a prayer or send a thought to all those who lost a mother, father, son, daughter, aunt, uncle..etc. Because they don't just think about 9/11 during September but every day of their life.

#1. What's a nickname only your family calls you? The only one I can think of is "Redbird", which is what my Dad calls me! In High School everyone called me by my last name since we had 4 Chelsea's!

#2. What's a weird habit of yours? I constantly peel my nail polish off. CONSTANTLY. I peel/pick everything. Its so bad.

#3. Do you have any weird phobias? Standing by windows for long periods of time. Swimming pool drains, which I blame completely on that one episode of Are You Afraid of The Dark? where that freaking zombie thing lived in the pool...shit was scary then and still is!

#4. What's a song you secretly LOVE to blast & belt out when you're alone? Without a doubt, No Doubt's "Don't Speak" .

#5. What's one of your biggest pet peeves? I freaking HATE it when people constantly walk around with their headphones in! I think its super rude! Especially customers! I hate being like "Hi! How are you?" and they're plugged in...ANNOYING. I wanna be like "COMMUNICATE WITH THE OUTSIDE WORLD!" I have like a million work related pet peeves.

#6. What's one of your nervous habits? Again, nail polish peeling, cuticle ripping. Nasty and bad.

#8. What was your first stuffed animal & it's name? My blanket bunny! My Dad constantly bought me these little floppy blanket bunnies in the City from random street vendors, hahaha. I hope my Mom washed them...Also, his name was Bunny ( I know, freaking genius)

#9. What's the drink you ALWAYS order at starbucks? I NEVER go to Starbucks. I hate coffee. I'll get hot chocolate, but only from Dunkin :)

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette

Hello Lovelies!

Ok, I was very on the fence about getting Urban Decay's new limited-edition 15th Anniversary Palette. When I first saw it blowing up on the blogsphere, I had to get it! The perfect blend of neutrals and colors in super sexy packaging!

But then I thought to myself, I never wear colors. I'll probably only really use the neutrals. But that had me thinking, I NEED COLOR! And then my logic went like this:

One UD Shadow = $17

These are full size shadows so thats $17 x 15 = $255 value

$55 = 3.23 UD Shadows (I went there, decimals, I went there)

So thats like buying 3 UD shadows and getting 12 for free!

And I'm so happy I splurged! The colors are perfectly balanced, the first column being perfect every day neutral, the middle column having the brighter colors and the last column holding colors that are amazeballs for smoking everything out!

As far as shadow quality goes, all the shadows are super pigmented and the same high-quality from Urban Decay! I'd have to admit that Midnight Rodeo has some of their infamous glitter-fallout but that seems to be the only problem shadow! All of the shadows are shimmery, with the exception of Blackout which is a matte black! I kinda wish they had a matte highlight color but its not a necessity!

Ok, I'll shut up now, picture time!

The whole container is shiny and mirrored, its gorgeous but attracts fingerprint! The Urban Decay "UD" logo is a pretty purple gem!

A Revolution for Your Eyelashes?!

Hello Lovelies!

I rarely follow makeup collections, for me its "Oh, I like this! I shall buy it!". But when Urban Decay released all their new products for Fall, my interest peaked. Its their 15th Anniversary and they're releasing some pretty awesome products!

But one of them just confused me enough that I ordered it. And it was their "The Revolution" eyelash curler. Its a "cageless" curler that is supposed to be pinch-free and curl your lashes.

Now, Urban Decay, I love you. I really do, you're one of my favorite brands, but SERIOUSLY?!

I just don't even know. I wanted to love it. Its a freaking eyelash curler that costs $19 that looks like something that belongs in MoMA.

The first thing I noticed was how small it is compared to other curlers. Smaller in both length and little curling bed.

The next thing I noticed? The fact that its mechanics were a simple coil. A little stupid coil. Now, the problem with this is that it provides more resistance, meaning its not going to curl as well.

Or in my case, it didn't curl my lashes at all. I squeezed and squeezed and squeezed until my fingers cried. No curl. I applied mascara and tried again and alas, nothing. And not to mention that the curler is too small to curl all my lashes at once. I would have to do my outer lashes and then my inner.

Now, this could be good. But like I said, it didn't curl AT ALL.

The "cageless" aspect? I never felt like it was those little side bars that pinched my lashes, but the concept is interesting. Then again, maybe there is a reason why we have never seen a curler like this before.

Final verdict? HUGE MISS! Its a pretty piece for your vanity with its polished gunmetal frame and sleek design, but completely impractical for curling your lashes. You're better off getting E.L.F'.s $1 curler.

A Mid-Summer Night's Favorites!

Hello Lovelies!

So I was going to do a monthly favorites but I decided that I would do some of my favorites of the summer! Because since its scorching, I've been keeping things simple and light. Cream products, waterproof makeup and lots of gloss!

All together now!

I have been loving MAC's Fix+ with my beauty blender! Seriously, its the best way to set my makeup. Just a few spritz on the blender and bounce on top of my foundation so it looks in place, fresh and not powdery!

Ok, even though I haven't been a fan of powder, I have wearing pretty much only a dab of concealer and a quick swirl of MSF Natural. And the Sigma F30 does an amazeballs job of covering!

Urban Decay's shadow pencils and their new liquid liner = staple. They're waterproof, last all day and don't smudge! Left swatch is "Midnight Cowboy" and "Sin". My only problem is that you kinda have to get their ten dollar sharpener. I'm too afraid to butcher the pencils!

Cream shadows! With a primer, these last all day, and look fresh. Swatches from left to right are MAC's "Rubenesque" , "Bare Study" and Makeup Forever's "016". I gotta admit, I prefer MAC's paintpots to MUFE's Aqua Shadows, the MUFE shadows have the WORST chemical odor. It reminds me of acetone, not a fan. And paint pots are much easier to blend!

Yup, creams and stains are my new loves. From left to right, Benefit's "Coralista", Urban Decay's "Crush" and "Quickie" and Benefit's "Benetint". "Coralista" is the only powder blush that I have been really wearing, and the UD cheek tints last all day and stain the cheeks! "Benetint" is a hardcore stain, and it looks scary in the bottle but gives you a sexy flush! All about that flush!

I have not picked up a lipstick all summer. All glossy goodness! From left to right are Urban Decay's Lip Junkie in "Crush", MAC lipglasses in "Pink Poodle" and "Pink Lemonade", YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in "04" and "06" and Buxom gloss in "Kanani".

In a nutshell, keeping it light and simple, pink and coral, and neutral/bronzey lids (hey, I can't get naturally bronze on my face!)

Any summer must haves for you? Of course SPF, but I work inside all day ;)

YSL Volupte Sheer Candy Glossy Balm Lip Color: A Lip Luxury

Hello Lovelies!

I apologize for not posting! I have been caught up with work, but now I have a few days off!

So I kinda lost my mind and bought two of the new YSL Volupte Sheer Candy balm/gloss/lipstick/whatever. Now I don't typically go look at high-end, designer brands, but I heard about that these in a bunch of magazines as a summer must-have.

Its a sheer, moisturizing lip color that smells and tastes amazing! Its like the love child of lip balm, gloss and lipstick. Its sheer, not as opaque as a lipstick, but a bit more color than gloss. In fact, it actually slightly stains the lips. It leaves a glossy finish and makes my lips feel hydrated and happy! And it has a melon taste, which is delicious! These last a few hours and once the glossy effect disappears, it gently stains the lips.

These are the only 2 products that I've been rocking on my lips this month! And I have gotten so many compliments on them! I would recommend getting these in the darker colors, since they are sheer in nature! And for $30, you want to get your money's worth!

The two colors I have are "4: Succulent Pomegranate" which is a beautiful bright pink with a little bit of red tones; and "6: Luscious Cherry" a gorgeous bright red with a gold shimmer. Both of these are perfect for summer!

The packaging is gorgeous, then again it should be for the price!

Stila Stunning in Sayulita Palette

Ok, not gonna lie, I had to Google where Sayulita was. Haha. It is in Mexico, in case you were also wondering.

Anywhozie! Hello Lovelies!

I picked up this little gem at Sephora for $14, and it is the first Stila Beach Girl Palette series. Over the course of the summer, Stila is releasing 5 of these beach-themed travel and budget friendly palettes. So far there are 3 out and 2 more to go!

The palette comes with four eyeshadows, one blush and one "bronzing powder". The four eyeshadows are super wearable and all neural. The top left color, "Starfish" is a nice light champagne, "Sandbar", which is located next to it, is a nice shimmery chocolate brown. It has a gold sheen/shimmer and almost has a touch of a blue shimmer in it. "Getaway" the bottom left color is a pretty taupe and "Palm Trees" is a nice rich-medium green. All the shadows are on the shimmery side, but I haven't had horrible fallout from them.

The blush is pretty, subtle, matte peach called "Playa", but their "bronzing powder"? What the fetch? Who is that gonna bronze? I thought "Banderas Bay" was a highlighter. And as a highlighter, its too shimmery, even more so with the shimmery shadows, it makes it look like fallout. But! Its pretty as an eyeshadow!

This palette is a great deal, I don't feel like they're sacrificing anything as far as quality goes. But claiming its a $62 value? Yeah.....no! But I would completely recommend it! It is perfect for someone who travels or anyone who likes a good deal!

I think I'm going to pick up the Hamptons palette next!

I Want To Smell Like a Mermaid

I would like to smell like a mermaid.

Mainly because that would mean I was living underwater, and it would appropriate to use my favorite pick up line "Is that your dorsal fin, or are you just happy to see me?" (yes, I have used that gem before, right HERE).

So when I saw the new Harajuku Lovers perfume in "G of The Sea", I had to check it out! Because I'm a sucker for packaging. I normally never tend to gravitate towards the Harajuku perfumes but as of now, I'm totally checking them out!

The adorable mermaid perfume is a perfect spring/summer scent!

According to Sephora, it can be described as this "Top notes delight in juicy splashes of crisp apple, magical water lily, and the tangy sweet surge of crushed berries. Soak in its heart, filled with flirty bouquets of dewy freesia, whispers of pink peony, and delicate kisses of jasmine petals. Finally, leave an enchanting trail of smoothly sundrenched woods, sensually transparent musks, and luscious amberwood."

Okay, so here is my Cliff-Notes (haha, I made a funny, get it? NOTES?! Perfume?! Sorry....) version of the perfume: its a light, floral, sensual musky smell with a pinch of berry.

It is divine!

Its such a light, clean, fresh smell but it also packs a little punch with the warmer notes. It is not at all overbearing, its perfect for when you just want a little something-something. I mean, I wasn't expecting it to smell this amazing but it seriously is! I was just happy with the cute little bottle on my vanity. But the smell? I love it!

I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a nice, light, simple scent for summer! It is so pretty! And not to mention, the packaging is cute! Even my mom loves the scent! She also loved the packaging and was pleasantly surprised by the scent!

I have the 0.34 oz bottle which was $30 and the full 1 oz bottle is $45. And they know make cute little matching makeup bags! AH! Its currently available at Sephora and Sephora.com !

Big Beautiful Buxom Lips!

Big is beautiful.

Lips that are juicy, glossy and perfectly plump are a summer must have for me.

Because lipsticks and limp lips can't handle the hot weather.

The perfect plumping lip gloss. They're not the old painful-plumper but rather the new school painless plumper. They feel so refreshing, like a little lip pick-me-up. No more of the "OH EM GEE! It feels like a swarm of bees attacked my lips! GET IT OFF!" feeling with these! And I can totally vouch for the swarm-of-bees-attacking-my-lips thing because it happened to me. Never mow over anything that remotely looks like a bee hive. In my defense, it looked like a pine cone. I had three stingers in my lips. And my lips were on steroids. Too plumped. Joan Rivers plumped.

I digress!

I love these things! They are so cool, minty and refreshing. Its an awesome cooling sensation when applied and freshens your breath! Making it feel like you just took a swish of Listerine! And my lips are naturally large, but these make them plump by helping to fill in the lines of my lips!

They're nonsticky and their lasting power is about average, a few hours. But my lips will still look pleasantly plump once the color fades!

I have 4 colors in my collection, as of right now!

1) Princess: a shimmering pink pearl with some golden tones. Almost looks like a pinky-lilac pearl, super pretty!

2) Kanani: a bright pink, with almost a coral tone, and a little shimmer!

3) Margarita: a gorgeous sheer raspberry! This one is called a "tint" by Buxom, I find the opacity about the same as a gloss, but the Buxom tints are cheaper!

4) Ginger: a coppery-golden red, who doesn't love a buxom redhead?!

Bounce, Bounce Baby! Beauty Blender Review!

$20 for a makeup sponge? You must be out of your damn mind!

Well, my friends, I'm out of my damn mind.

I caved and bought the Beauty Blender cosmetic applicator (that totally makes is sounds fancier). And I'm loving the little bouncy-egg shaped-thing!

I was like you when I heard how much it cost, I mean for that price I would expect it to bounce itself all over my face. But this was another "Youtube/blogs made me do it" moment. Nothing but praises. And this was last year. So I naturally bought the cheaper alternative, the Sonia Kashuk one and was not a fan. It was stiff and I couldn't use it wet. If I dampened it, water would just leak out, ruining all my makeup. That left a bad taste in my mouth and deterred me from checking out the real deal.

But a year later, I bought in. I mean I'm willing to pay that much for a makeup brush (on some occasions, mind you!) so this is sort of like it.

The first thing I noticed about it? How soft it was! It wasn't as stiff, and almost hard, like the SK one. It was so soft and squishy.

And then I wet it. You are supposed to use these types of sponges wet because less product will be absorbed into the sponge (because it is retaining the water) and the damp effect will help make the look more flawless and smooth. It makes foundation look softer and more natural.

To my surprise, it didn't leak all over my face. It did double in size which was fun to see (its super malleable when drenched!), bigger sponge means more coverage!

And though it was big and wet, it didn't leave a little wet trail (that's what she said!).

The coverage is amazing, it makes my full-coverage foundation appear natural and flawless. Prevents foundation from caking up. It gives an amazing, seamless appearance. Its gentle enough to use to cover up under-eye circles, but can handle concealing a zit.

I would completely recommend this!

Also, I only bought the sponge. I haven't heard the best things about their cleaner. I just squirt a little of my cleanser on it (Purity Made Simple, that stuff is the bomb.com) and it cleans it beautifully. Any gentle cleanser, or even baby shampoo, will do the trick!

Its a bit on the pricey side for what it is, but if it can make my foundation and concealer look seamless, and not worry about a cake face, then I think its worth it!

It can be found at Sephora.com and on beautyblender.net and prices vary depending on what you get (like how many blenders and if you desire the cleaner!). My single blender was $19.95! But now I see that you can get 2 for $25! WHAT?! Missed that! Haha :)

I store it in its little cup, and kept the little stand to place it on for when it dries!

TWENTY-ONE! 2-1!

Hello Lovelies!

I thought I'd do a little update and birthday haul. Thursday, May 19 was my twenty-first birthday! Whaaaat?! But I wasn't feeling too well, a migraine and pure exhaustion from these past few weeks...months...haha!

Anyways last weekend I had gone to NYC with my mom after moving out of my dorm to do a little shopping! One of my all time favorite movies is Breakfast at Tiffany's and I adore Audrey Hepburn so we made a trip to the famous 5th avenue store! That place is HUGE. Its 6 floors! One floor of diamonds, another of their classic sterling silver (which is where we shopped), one of dishes, and all that goodness! Amazing!

Since it was a big, milestone birthday, my mom let me get a bracelet that I had been wanting. Fell in love with it, but I had to get it lengthened, meaning I would have to have it sent out to get it altered, but it is PERFECT!

We also stopped at Macy's Herald Square, which was amazing. And right across the street was Sephora! I picked up some new MUFE goodness. Their new Aqua Liner is AMAZING, a shadow thats a staple for me (a shimmery nude, ha ha), and their Lab Shine gloss which is like a smoother, non-stickier version on MAC Dazzleglasses.

As for my birthday, had my first legal drink, a beer, haha. Though I will admit, I'm not a big fan of beer, I'm more of a wine/mixed drinks girl! But I did some minor shopping. My mall doesn't have a Sephora but they just opened up a Bare Minerals and they had a 3 for $39 lip product + free cosmetic bag deal which is basically a buy 2 get 1 free! And I love the Buxom glosses! So I picked 2 Buxom glosses up and their new Pretty Amazing, which is like a liquid lipstick.

Girl vs. Makeup: Sally Hansen Salon Effects

Phew, long time no blog! But this horrid semester is over and its in my past. I'm back home now and ready to get back on blogging!

I thought I'd start a new little segment called "Girl vs. Makeup" where I'll test out new, gimicky products and see if they live up to their claim!

So lets get this party started with Sally Hansen's Salon Effects, the sticker nail polish!

Want a nice salon-worthy manicure, but in a hurry and don't want to dish it out? Well these Salon Effects are supposed to be a fool-proof mani. Just peel and stick nail polish on.

Seriously, that is it.

This little kit comes with 16 nail stickers, a wooden cuticle pusher, mini nail file and instructions.

First thing I did was push all my cuticles back and clean down my nails with some polish remover. Then applied these bad boys! Sally Hansen says that you should be able to stretch them to fit your nail, but I was concerned that these would tear!

So I decided that for nails that didn't have a perfect match that I'd just use the next size up. So I'd place the larger sticker on the nail and smooth it down with the smooth part of the cuticle pusher. And I'd make sure to crisply push it to the edges of my nail so I could easily take off any excess. This was easy, and even somewhat therapeutic. But then again, I just had a week's worth of finals and moving.

Once they were all down I put on one coat of no-chip polish and I have been impressed! They seriously look natural!

Well as natural as leopard print nails look. I guess by natural I mean, not a sticker, but more like it was actually painted on. And of course, these have no drying time (as long as you don't use a top coat, but I would, just to help make the manicure last a little longer).

I am seriously impressed. I was expecting these to look ridiculous and like I put freaking stickers on my nails.

These had a slight nail polish scent, but it didn't linger!

I will say, these are a bit pricey. I've seen them range from $7 - $11 and Sally Hansen does offer coupons for a dollar off. But that is also how much an average manicure costs. So that is one thing to factor!

I'll probably buy more! I love this leopard print, and might pick up the flower design and pink glitter! I feel like solid colors aren't worth it, but the designs? For sure!

Birthday Beauty Wishlist!

Hello Lovelies!

In the midst of trying to study, and failing (I mean how many times can I reread a sentence on the nitty-gritty of muscles?!) and not feeling too swell, I decided to make a little beauty wishlist, my birthday is on the 19th (21st birthday!) and I've been eying a few things! Note the "wish" in wishlist ;)

1. Sigma "Make Me Blush" Brush Set

I really do not own many brushes, and this is an awesome deal. And they're pink ;)

2. Makeup Forever Mat Velvet +

My skin gets extra oily/shiny come spring and summer and I swatched this the other day in store and it completely matches me! SCORE! :)

3. Beauty Blender (+ Cleaner)

I have bought the Sonia Kashuk one, and it shredded on me, and I've heard raves about this little applicator! I also enjoy a good bounce.

4. Benefit's "Coralista" Blush

I love my Bella Bamba and have found that I do enjoy coral blushes :) And I'm a sucker for gaudy packaging.

I did already get some birthday money and decided to buy a new purse. Its a Coach Poppy Tote :)

I don't know why its coming off more gold! Its silver detailing and HOT FREAKING PINK inside.
