Yikes. The baby is going to be a toddler! !

His latest development:
Knows the word " give mummy". I would ask him to give me his toy and he hands it over.
He still sleeps twice for 1.5 hours each. He drinks 6 ounces of milk every 4 hours.
He is trying to stand and walk. He loves hanging out at the top of the stairs and calls us with his cute noises.
He knows how to turnaround when coming down the bed and the stairs.
He gets super excited when he hears Ryan or dylan. He would want to go out to see them.

Here is Ryan!

He now knows how to :
Tell time on the clock.
Read a lot of words. The hard ones are names, and random big words. He has to read two books for school daily.
He is in the process of learning multiplivation. He understands the concept.
He gets upset when we pick him up late at Bee Best. He thinks we will forget to pick him up.
He is very good at watching Brandon. He rather watch Brandon than play the ipad :)
He just started cycling his big bike with two wheels.

He is into the Rainbow Loom craze. He made me make him a penguin and a minion:)

Dylan and trains

Ryan had a sleep over at Daran's house.

We asked Dylan what he wanted to do since he did not get to go. He said he wanted to go to Toys r us to buy something. I asked him what he would buy and he said he has not decided :)

He started by picking out 4 tonka cars. I told him to put them in the stroller while he checked out other toys.

He saw the train table and played there for a while. Then he saw the Belle train and wanted to buy. We told him to look some more at other things since we have soooo many trains already!!

He looked at some batman stuff n went back to the trains. He picked Emily.
Yes..he loves girl trains. He said Emily is strong cos she is pulling another train (tender)

We tried again to show him other stuff and he said " let's go pay. I don't want anything else. I want to open Emily"

Dylan's favourite phrase now is " I already know". He says this whenever we tell him anything....like if we say " Dylan, hold hands when crossing the road.. he would say I already know.... fun times!

His favourite foods : tofu, rice, noodles. If we ask him what he wants to eat, that's his response. He also loves strawberries and cantaloupe. He will say no to spicy stuff, sour stuff and soft drinks. He likes apple juice and yogurt drink.

Before he sleeps every night, he will say, I have to eat something before i sleep, and heads downstairs to get Gordon to get him something to eat. Usually, it is cheese crackers, cheese, yogurt or a cookie. He will ask me first "can I have candy,and when I say no, he goes "awww".... and gets something else to eat...:)

He can recognize about half the alphabets and can spell his first name. He can recognize 1 to 9 and can count to 20. He is trying to learn how to count in 10's.

He thing now is: if he makes me mad he will he will show me his teeth asking me to smile. if I smile he knows that I am NOT mad with him any more. if I don't smile he will try and make me smile so that I won't be mad with him anymore.

He is also very interested in basketball.
He can dribble the ball about 10 times and has asked us to sign him up for basketball class ( I wonder if I ever asked my parents to sign me up for any class when I was 3 years old!)

Ryan is now a big brother to two siblings. He is loving his new role and understands that he needs to spend time with Dylan since mummy is busy with the baby.

His favourite foods now are : spicy stuff like spicy mango, spicy noodles, curries. He also likes sour stuff like sour candy. He still likes to try different foods and eats almost everything we put on his plate.

He is trying to read and recognizes about 50 sight words. He still has to figure out how to joins the phonics together to make words.

He can add well and can minus small numbers. He can also count in twos, threes, fives and tens.

Favourite TV is Wild Krantz and Pippa pig. He still watches Clifford, curious george and caillou in the morning.

At pre-school, he is doing well. His teachers like him a lot and will miss him when we take him out of school end of April. He is super helpful and very attentive.

5 year old info:
Weight : 42 lb 14.4 oz (66.31 percentile)
Height : 3' 7.5" (63.38 percentile)

Ryan is doing a great job being a big brother. Dylan adores him and Ryan takes the time to make sure Dylan is doing OK and helps him out when needed.

Today, when Dylan woke up after his nap, he yelled "koko, where are you?". Usually he would look for Gordon or me, but he decided to look for Ryan instead. So cute!

My birth story with Brandon

Here is how is all happened :

April 17 - Doctor visit and was checked. Dr Monica told me I was maybe 1cm dilated. It will probably be another week.
April 18 - 3 am - Mucus plug came out. I was actually awake and was wondering if water broke. Confirmed that it was the mucus plug so I googled and it said possibly couple more days before baby ariives.
I did feel some contractions as I was sleeping, but I ignored them.
7 am - contractions were stronger. I asked Gordon if he was going into work and he said yes....
8 am - contractions were 5 minutes apart. Told Gordon not to go to work and go drop the kids off to pre-school.
8.20am - on the way to the hospital. Contractions were 3 minutes apart and water broke in the car.
9.00am - arrive at hospital. The triage nurse took another hour to complete all the paperwork and questions. Doctor checked and said 7-8cm dilated.

Time is of essence if I want to get the epidural. The doctor mentioned that the anesthesiologist is working on an emergency and may not get to me. Yes, I was asking for the epidural too many times in the triage room and the nurse said "we have to send you to the room ro get the IV before they can give you the epi".....

We entered the labor room and the doctor checked me. She said "fully dilated, minus 1". Let's try and push. I am sure I glared at the doctor cos I really wanted the epidural!

They finally gave me fentanyl to help with the pain.

When I pushed, they found that baby was too high and did not drop yet. So, they called in the anesthesiologist for my epidural. Hooray!

The anesthesiologist took about 30 minutes to get the epi. They could not find the right location to put the needle. They even had the head anesthesiologist take over to help. In the meantime, I focused on my breathing cos I knew that the pain relieve was coming! :)

When the epi worked, I was the nicest person...... I gave the nurse in charge smiles..with the epi, the contractions slowed down, so I had time to rest and relax.

After a while, the nurse said that baby's heart rate was going down everytime I had a contraction. possibly the contractions were pressing on the placenta. She called in the doctor and decided I should push to get the baby out.

The pushing was about 40 minutes. We did have to vacuum baby out towards the end and he came out fine. The doctor did say that if the vacuum did not work, he would have to do a c-section. So, when I pushed, I made sure I pushed hard so I did not have to do a c-section!

Overall, the birth was considered easy. It was quick with little complications. I was surprised that the contractions came so much faster compared to Dylan's birth. Gordon was worried that baby would come out in the car when the water burst.(hehe).

Ryan and Dylan has their first pre- school Christmas celebration.

They practiced really hard on the songs.

Surprisingly, they both did not get stage fright with 150 parents watching them.

Ryan was selected to play Joseph. Such an honor since it was on him and another girl :)

We baked our first pizza today. The dough was ready made from trader joes. We added cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, brocolli and sauce.

We also baked chocolate chip cookies. Yes, we used the kitchenaid mixer after one year...

Ryan at 4 years, 8 months

Ryan is almost 5!

He is attending Redwood Forest Pre-school. His first week was harder since he doesn't like change and adapting to a new school is hard for him. Now, he is teacher's pet and is always volunteering to help to the teachers (Miss Raquel, Miss Chrissy and Miss Rakisha).

Below is Ryan with Miss Chou explaining a drawing that he completed during class. The first two quizzes Ryan had to take, he cried! I guess he did not know what a quiz is and wanted to get all the answers right! So, I had to teach him that it was OK to get it wrong, as long as he practiced and tried his best. Yes, he was the only kid out of 15 kids who cried while taking a quiz. Glad he got over that....

My little one turned three.

We had his 3 year old check-up on 8/27.

Height : 3' 2" (62.31 percentile)
Weight : 33 lb 8 Oz (72.10 percentile)

His favorite foods are: plain pasta, plain rice, strawberries and milk. Yes, that's all he likes, (which makes feeding him challenging:) If we gave him a choice, he would have MILK all day long.

His new thing is when we ask him if he did something, his response would be "NO, I didn't!!" He says it in such a cute voice that it's almost hard to not believe him.

He still has his milk bottle and likes to hold the end of the pillow case when he drinks his milk. He also doesn't mind drinking his milk anywhere. On the kitchen floor, seems like any floor is ok, as long as he has a pillow for his head.

At his new school, he has not been finishing his lunch. I told him that if he doesn't finish, he will have to go to Yee-Yee's house (babysitter). The next day, he actually finished his lunch and told me "i don't have to go to yee-yee's house.

He can make full sentences with good english grammar. Some that I remember.."daddy, are you downstairs watching TV".

He loves to do his little gymnastics using my leg as the post. Super dangerous on his hands, so I have to be extremely careful.

On Saturday morning's I have to take Ryan to his chinese class. Dylan gets to spend time with Gordon. Surprisingly, he doesn't mind hanging out with daddy. They usually go to the park, library, starbucks and the farmers market.

I totally forgot to post this one. This was Gordon, Ryan and Dylan's first camping trip.

All of them loved it. No complains. I could not sleep due to the hard ground. We should be more prepared next time:)
