All that glitters is not gold and all porn stars are not bold, says Mahesh Bhatt while revealing that Sunny Leone was shy and uncomfortable during the lovemaking scenes with Randeep Hooda in her Bollywood debut Jism 2.

"I always knew that she is a very shy person. Just because she is a porn star doesn't mean that she has lost her feminine quality of being shy. During the lovemaking scene with Randeep she was finding it very difficult to do it comfortably," Bhatt, who is producing the film, told IANS over phone from Sri Lanka, where "Jism 2" is being shot.

" 'Jo nazar aata hai wo hota nahin hai'. All that glitters is not gold, all soldiers are not brave, all holy men are not holy and all porn stars are not bold. At times reality is different," added the filmmaker.

Pooja Bhatt, who had produced the original, is directing part two.

Sunny Leone surprised the entire crew with her shy behaviour.

Bhatt said Sunny wants to move on from being just a porn star and is looking forward to establishing herself as a part of tinsel town. "Sunny is concerned how she will be perceived by the world as an actor because everybody knows her just as an adult star. She wants to be known for something more than that," he added.

Sunny's career seems to have taken off here. Apart from Jism 2, she has also bagged a role in sequel to Ragini MMS. She has also endorsed a phone and a condom brand.

Earthquake Tremors felt in National Capital Region, No casualities yet reported

Tremors were felt in New Delhi and the adjoining NCR region in Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon today. The tremors were felt in parts of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh also. The quake occured at about 1.11pm.

The epicenter of the earthquake is said to be close to Bahadurgarh, Haryana.

However, it caused no damages.

People ran into the streets after feeling the tremors.

Lohri marks the culmination of winter, and is celebrated on the 13th day of January in the month of Paush or Magh, a day before Makar Sankranti. For Punjabis, this is more than just a festival, it is also an example of a way of life. Lohri celebrates fertility and the spark of life. People gather round the bonfires, throw sweets, puffed rice and popcorn into the flames, sing popular songs and exchange greetings.

In the North Makar Sankranti is called Lohri. Lohri is the time after which the biting cold of the winters begins to taper off.

On this day children go from door to door to collect funds for community bonfires which are lit up in the evening. Lohri is more of a community festival as people gather around the bonfires and offer sweets, crisp rice and popcorn to the flames.

With the formulation of the Bikrami calendar, Lohri has been twinned with the Hindu winter solstice festival of Makar Sankranti which relates to the Sun's entry into the new sign, Makar. Hindus pray to the Hindu Sun God, Ravi on Makar Sankranti which is meant to be celebrated on winter solstice day.

Due to the link of Lohri to the Bikrami calendar, the true origin of Lohri has become blurred. People often say that Lohri must be celebrated on the last day of Paush but also refer to Lohri day being the shortest in the year. This creates confusion when explaining the significance of Lohri as two festivals with different origins have become linked as they both relate to the winter solstice.

Lohri Festival :

The focus of Lohri is on the bonfire. The traditional dinner with makki ki roti and sarson ka saag is quintessential. The prasad comprises of five main things: til, gazak, gur, moongphali, phuliya and popcorn. There is puja, involving parikrama around the fire and distribution of prasad. This symbolises a prayer to Agni, the spark of life, for abundant crops and prosperity.

It is also the one day when the womenfolk and children get attention. The first Lohri of a bride is extremely important. The first Lohri of a newborn baby, whether a girl or a boy, is also equally important. Children go from door to door singing and asking for the Lohri prasad.

Agneepath Movie (2012)

Agneepath (Hindi: अग्निपथ; English: Path of Fire) is an upcoming remake of the 1990 Hindi film of the same name. It is produced by Karan Johar and directed by Karan Johar's former assistant Karan Malhotra. Hrithik Roshan will play the role originally played by Amitabh Bachchan. Priyanka Chopra will be the female lead.

The character played by Mithun Chakraborty has been totally done away with in the remake. The main villain will be played by Sanjay Dutt and Rishi Kapoor will play another negative character. It has been reported that Zarina Wahab will play Hrithik's mother. Shooting took place in Mumbai's film city and Diu, India.

In a small Indian Village Mandwa, Vijay Dinanath Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan) is taught about the path of fire (Agneepath) by his principled father. His life is shattered completeley when the evil drug lord Kancha Cheena (Sanjay Dutt) hangs his father to death, Vijay leaves for Bombay with his pregnant mother, and takes an oath that he will return back to Mandwa and bring back the glory of his fathers name and take revenge against Kancha Cheena.

In Bombay, 12 Year old Vijay is taken under the wings of the cities drug lord Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor). From here on it is a journey of revenge where he makes and breaks many relationships only to get closer to his aim. Vijay finds support in his only friend Kaali (Priyanka Chopra), who stands by him at every moment of his life. Fifteen years later, his hatred for Kancha takes him back to Mandwa where life comes full circle.

What is Dubstep?

Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in south London, England. Its overall sound has been described as "tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals" The earliest Dubstep releases date back to 1998 and were darker, more experimental, instrumental dub remixes of 2-step garage tracks attempting to incorporate the funky elements of breakbeat, or the dark elements of drum and bass into 2-step, which featured B-sides of single releases.

The term "Dubstep" in reference to a genre of music began to be used by around 2002, by which time stylistic trends used in creating these remixes started to become more noticeable and distinct from 2-step and Grime.

A very early supporter of the sound was BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel, who started playing it from 2003 onwards. In 2004, the last year of his show, his listeners voted Distance, Digital Mystikz and Plastician (formerly Plasticman) in their top 50 for the year. Dubstep started to spread beyond small local scenes in late 2005 and early 2006; many websites devoted to the genre appeared on the internet and thus aided the growth of the scene, such as dubstepforum, the download site Barefiles and blogs such as gutterbreakz. Simultaneously, the genre was receiving extensive coverage in music magazines such as The Wire and online publications such as Pitchfork Media, with a regular feature entitled The Month In: Grime/Dubstep. Interest in dubstep grew significantly after BBC Radio 1 DJ Mary Anne Hobbs started championing the genre, beginning with a show devoted to it (entitled "Dubstep Warz") in January 2006

Rhythm - Dubstep rhythms are usually syncopated, and often shuffled or incorporating tuplets. The tempo is nearly always in the range of 138-142 beats per minute (bpm). In its early stages, Dubstep was often more percussive, with more influences from 2-step and grime drum patterns. A lot of producers were also experimenting with tribal drum samples, a notable example being Loefah's early release "Truly Dread". Over time, key producers at the time started to experiment with the half-step rhythm which created more of a spacious vibe, and head-nodding rhythm, a feature which started to be used more and more and has become a signature of the genre. Similarly, the half-step rhythm also started to dominate grime, and producers started to lose the more complex and jerky rhythms influenced from 2-step, and started to work with more hip-hop influenced beats.

Wobble Bass - One characteristic of certain strands of Dubstep is the wobble bass, where an extended bass note is manipulated rhythmically. This style of bass is typically produced by using a low frequency oscillator to manipulate certain parameters of a synthesizer such as volume, distortion or filter cutoff. The resulting sound is a timbre that is punctuated by rhythmic variations in volume, filter cut-off, or distortion. This style of bass is a driving factor in some variations of Dubstep, particularly at the more club-friendly end of the spectrum - a subgenre which has been termed 'brostep' by some.

Originally, Dubstep releases had some structural similarities to other genres like Drum and Bass and UK garage. Typically this would comprise an intro, a main section (often incorporating a bass drop), a midsection, a second main section similar to the first (often with another drop), and an outro.

Many Dubstep tracks incorporate one or more "bass drops", a characteristic inherited from drum and bass. Typically, the percussion will pause, often reducing the track to silence, and then resume with more intensity, accompanied by a dominant subbass (often passing portamento through an entire octave or more, as in the audio example). However, this is by no means a completely rigid characteristic, rather a trope; a large portion of seminal tunes from producers like Kode9 and Horsepower Productions have more experimental song structures which don't rely on a drop for a dynamic peak - and in some instances don't feature a bass drop at all.

Rewinds (or reloads) - Another technique used by Dubstep DJs. If a song seems to be especially popular, the DJ will 'spin back' the record by hand without lifting the stylus, and play the track in question again. Rewinds are also an important live element in many of Dubstep's precursors; the technique originates in dub reggae soundsystems, is a standard of most pirate radio stations and is also used at UK garage and Jungle nights.

Taking direct cues from Jamaica's lyrically sparse deejay and toasting mic styles in the vein of reggae pioneers like U-Roy, the MC's role in dubstep's live experience is critically important to its impact. As the music is largely instrumental, the MC operates in a similar context to Drum and Bass and is generally more of a complement to the music rather than the deliverer of lyrical content.

Notable mainstays in the live experience of the sound are MC Sgt Pokes and MC Crazy D from London, and Juakali from Trinidad. Production in a studio environment seems to lend itself to more experimentation. Kode9 has collaborated extensively with the Spaceape, who MCs in a dread poet style. Kevin Martin's experiments with the genre are almost exclusively collaborations with MCs such as Warrior Queen, Flowdan, and Tippa Irie. Skream has also featured Warrior Queen and grime artist JME on his debut album, Skream!. Plastician, who was one of the first DJ's to mix the sound of grime and dubstep together, has worked with notable grime setup Boy Better Know as well as renowned Grime MC's such as Wiley, Dizzee Rascal and Lethal Bizzle. He has also released tracks with a dubstep foundation and grime verses over the beats. Coki and Mala of Digital Mystikz have experimented with abrupt, 16-bar intros and have produced tracks with dub vocalists, and Dubstep artist and label co-owner Sam Shackleton has moved toward productions which fall outside the usual dubstep tempo, and sometimes entirely lack most of the common tropes of the genre.

2011 - DJ Fresh's track "Louder" (featuring vocals from Kosheen's Sian Evans) hit number 1 (July 2011) in the UK singles chart, becoming the first ever Dubstep track to achieve this feat. "Louder", backed by its use in an advertising campaign for Lucozade, managed to remain in the top 10 of the charts for 6 weeks. By mid-August, the UK had a second dubstep number one courtesy of Nero's "Promises". "Promises", the fourth single from the group's debut album "Welcome Reality", emphasised the growth of not only Nero themselves but Dubstep in general as the album's first single, "Innocence" had only managed to peak at number 167 just over a year before.

What is the effect of Dubstep on the brain?

Like listening to most music, listening to dubstep causes the brain to release the neurotransmitter dopamine. Buddh International Circuit Open Now To Host India's Maiden Formula 1 Race

Formula One India Grand Prix is the biggest thing ever happened to the Indian motorsport industry and alike every other track in the world, our race track was only under extreme supervision of one of the finest person from FIA. Charlie Whiting who is the race director of FIA and is also the safety delegate and head of the F1 Technical Department was monitoring all the activities concerned with the Buddh International Circuit, the official race track for Formula One, and finally after a long wait the very gentleman has certified the track.

The race will be held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, 24 km from Delhi. The circuit will be roughly 5.14 kilometres (3.19 mi) and will be designed by F1 circuit designer Hermann Tilke. The track will be spread in an area of 875 acres. The initial seating capacity is speculated to be around 150,000. However there are plans to increase the seating capacity to 200,000 later on. The sprawling circuit will be a part of Jaypee Green Sports city and will also be used for hosting one or more rounds of Moto GP championships in the year 2012. The 10-year contract for the race has been given to the Indian construction company Jaiprakash Associates.

The track in all has 16 largely medium speed corners where F1 cars will lap at an average speed of 210 km/h. The back straight will let F1 cars reach 320 km/h making it one of the fastest tracks in the world. The expected F1 car lap time is 1 minute 27 seconds. The organizers have also taken feedback from teams which have done the track analysis via simulators leading to modification of the turn 7 in order to maximize overtaking opportunities into banked turn 10. A grand stand with a capacity of 13,000 will overlook the turn 10 and turn 11 giving the F1 fans an opportunity to be a part of the action.
Says Samir Gaur, MD and CEO of JPSI Sports, a subsidiary of Jaiprakash Associates, "Land acquisition for the 5.5 km track is on and we are hopeful of completing the exercise by February. The designer and contractor for the job too, have been finalized and we are sure of getting the track ready by February 2011, in time for the championship." According to Ashok Khurana, executive vice-chairman of JPSI, the core area of the circuit would be spread over 4,000 hectares and building the infrastructure of the circuit would cost between Rs 12 billion and Rs 15 billion (US$309 million/£188 million/€216 million, at exchange rates of 21 August 2009).
The latest development (January 2010) with the circuit in India was the appointment of Mark Hughes, former number 2 at the Bahrain International Circuit for 5 years and also advisor to the Yas Marina Circuit for their first Grand Prix at the end of 2009. But on January 24, 2011, Hughes confirmed that he quit the Indian job due to 'personal reasons'. His post later went to Mr. Azhar Rehman, a former race organiser in Sepang, Malaysia.

Hisar By Election Result : Kuldeep Bishnoi wins over Congress

With the counting for the Hisar by-elections counting over, Haryana Janhit Congress' Kuldeep Bishnoi has been declared the winner. He has won by 23,617 votes defeating his rivals by a overwhelming margin.

The polling, which was necessitated due to the death of sitting MP Bhajan Lal of Haryana Janhit Congress in June will decide the electoral fortune of Jai Prakash (Congress), Bhajan Lal’s son Kuldeep Bishnoi (HJC-BJP) and Ajay Chautala (INLD).
The election, held on Oct 13, witnessed 70 percent polling. About 9.3 lakh voters (nearly 70 percent) of 13.32 lakh registered voters had voted.

There were around 40 candidates, mostly independents, in Hisar.

Lindsay Lohan found herself at the centre of a new controversy on Friday after she was accused of an alleged hit-and-run incident with a baby stroller.

Jaime alleges Lohan fled the scene after the "major hit".

But a TMZ.com photographer appears to have come to the troubled actress' rescue, insisting Lohan didn't break any traffic rules, and was driving so slowly she barely touched the stroller.

Lohan is struggling to keep her name out of the headlines. The hit-and-run allegations come just a week after she completed a jail sentence and a stint in rehab for violating her probation relating to a 2007 DUI arrest.

She was also pulled over by Los Angeles police last week for failing to adhere to a stop sign - but escaped that incident with a warning.

Intel will acquire Infineon Technologies' wireless division for US$1.4 billion

Intel Corp. (INTC) agreed to buy the wireless unit of Germany's Infineon Technologies AG (IFX.XE) for $1.4 billion (EUR1.1 billion) in cash, both companies said Monday.

With the deal, Intel, the world's largest semiconductor company, significantly strengthens its position in an area in which it has had limited success previously.

"The acquisition of Infineon's wireless business strengthens the second pillar of our computing strategy--Internet connectivity--and enables us to offer a portfolio of products that covers the full range of wireless options from WiFi and 3G to WiMAX and the long-term evolution," a standard for the new faster fourth generation mobile networks," Intel President and Chief Executive Paul Otellini said in a statement.

The acquisition of Infineon's wireless division could help Intel grow faster in the high-volume smartphone market, where the company has minimal presence. Most smartphones today carry chips designed by rival Arm, and Intel has had its eye on the smartphone market as the volume of chips for mobile devices outpaces traditional CPUs that go into PCs.

Intel earlier this year released low-power Atom chips for high-end smartphones and tablets, and next year is expected to release new Atom chips for wireless handsets that are more power efficient. Most Atom chips today go into netbooks, and Intel until now has struggled to snag customers to use Atom chips in smartphones.

In acquiring Infineon's baseband radio chip business, Intel gains an important foothold in the ever-growing mobile market with access to a wide range of the wireless chip company's customers.

Infineon's baseband chips could also potentially be paired to work with Intel's handset-focused processing chips, analysts say, making the world's largest chipmaker a compelling option for smartphone manufacturers.

Intel said, it will run wireless as independent unit. It will head by the current Infineon board member Hermann Eul, Bauer said. Intel managers said that the semiconductor giant will invest in wireless but provided no detail.

Companies including Samsung and Broadcom were rumored to be in talks with Infineon to acquire the division.

The announcement that Intel will acquire Infineon's wireless division nmarks the second major acquisition by the company in less than two weeks, following the chip maker's $7.7 billion deal to acquire McAfee.

Social networking websites are costing the UK economy £14 billion a year in lost work time, new research has revealed.

It found around two million workers spend an hour each day on Facebook, Twitter and Myspace when they should be working.

More than half of the UK workforce spends 30 minutes each day on social network sites.

Only 14 per cent admitted social networking sites made them less productive, while 10 per cent claimed it made them more productive.

Industries where staff are reliant on computers were more likely to over-use social networking sites rather than people in the manual trade.

Small and medium businesses are also likely to be hit hard by the low productivity.

Some companies have taken to creating internet cafes for staff to browse the internet during breaks to combat the problem.

Scott Davidson, the managing director of the company, said the situation would become harder to monitor because social networking applications were available on mobile phones.

'It is expected social media usage will continue to grow and employers may have to more seriously address any over-use issues.

Job sites network MyJobGroup.co.uk surveyed a 1,000 people, a third of whom said businesses should ban staff from using the websites.

PayPal pulls back the e-withdrawal feature

In a huge relief to millions of PayPal users in India, the leading Online Money Transfer company has announced that they can continue to enjoyelectronic withdrawals to their bank accounts as they did before.

India is seemingly slipping down on the radar of mega-corporates. Despite being projected as one of the fastest growing economies most mega-corporates do not offer the same level of services in India as they offer to China or other South Asian economies.

The recent blow is PayPal. PayPal will stop electronic withdrawal for Indian users from July 29th, 2010. Currently users can request for either an electronic or cheque withdrawal of funds from your PayPal account if you are an India user.

PayPal also added that it is working towards restoring electronic withdrawal service. If you have been using the electronic withdrawal facility, here is how to request for a cheque withdrawal:

•Log into your PayPal account, click on 'Withdraw'.
•Click on the 'Request a cheque from PayPal' link.
•Enter the withdrawal amount and select your mailing address, then click 'Continue'.
•Click 'Submit' to confirm your request.

TAJ MAHAL GOT A OFFICIAL WEB ADDRESS

Now the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Department has launched the first official government website www.tajmahal.gov.in of this famous monument considered a love symbol and one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

The new government website on Taj Mahal gives a visitor all information about this historical monument including complete historical information, visitor timings and ticket rates. Apart from giving out information, the website will also give tourist a chance to address their grievances and find solutions to their problems while touring the Taj Mahal.

The government has launched this website with the idea of creating more buzz during the approaching Commonwealth Games in Delhi. The website has been launched in English and efforts are being made to incorporate Hindi and Urdu versions as well.

The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is preparing official government websites for other monuments as well including Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, Sikandra, Etmauddaula. All these websites will be ready by the Commonwealth Games starting 3rd October to 14th October.

AIRTEL TO LAUNCH iPHONE4 IN INDIA BY OCTOBER

In order to beat the heat of Apple iphone4, Country's largest telecom service provider Bharti Airtel has revealed its plans to launch iPhone 4, by October. In June, Vodafone was the first telecom carrier to signal its intention to bring the iPhone 4 to India around the same time.

The fact that Airtel might introduce the iPhone 4 in India doesn't come as a surprise as the telecom carrier did introduce the iPhone 3G in India a couple of years back. In light of the iPhone 4 launch around October, we should expect prices to drop on the iPhone 3GS which is currently retailing in two Airtel flavors for Rs. 35,500 (16GB version) and Rs. 41,000 (32GB version).

World honours Mandela on his birthday

Nelson Mandela, South Africa's first black president, turned 92 on Sunday, as the world celebrated the first international day in his honour.

The increasingly frail Nobel peace laureate was celebrating the day quietly with his extended family and grandchildren at his home in Johannesburg.

"He is very well...he is healthy and taking into account the kind of life he had, it is really heartening... he is getting old, he is getting frail but he is absolutely healthy, full of life, spirits high," Mandela's wife Graca Machel told BBC.

“He is the first leader to be honoured by the world in this way, to be celebrated internationally. Today we are celebrating the life of a colossal, humanitarian and selfless leader”, said President Jacob Zuma.

"Nelson Mandela is a towering figure. He embodies the highest values of humanity, and of the United Nations," said UN secretary-general, Ban Ki-moon in a statement.

TDP PROTEST AGAINST CHANDRABABU'S ARREST, CALL FOR BANDH IN AP

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has called for a strike in Andhra Pradesh on Monday to protest against the arrest of its chief Chandrababu Naidu.

Naidu was arrested on Saturday when, despite prohibitory orders, he, along with 74 of his MPs, MLAs and MLCs, crossed over the Andhra border and entered Dharmabad in Nanded district of Maharashtra.

On Sunday too, the TDP leaders refused to sign personal bonds for their release from jail. Senior TDP MLA M Hanumantha Rao said: "We are fighting for our rights on the Godavari river. If the barrage, (a part of the irrigation project) is allowed as per Maharashtra's plans, it will badly affect five districts of Telangana."

The Rs 175 crore Babhli Barrage project is being constructed by Maharashtra to solve the region's water problems. The Andhra government moved Supreme Court insisting it would only help Maharashtra exploit water, affecting the flow into the North Telangana region.

In an interim order, the apex court gave Maharashtra the go-ahead with a rider that it won't block the water by installing gates.

"We had only come to see the project. They arrested us. We won't leave," said TDP leader Devendra Goud.

Nanded collector Ajay Ghulane said the TDP protesters have been housed at the Industrial Training Centre compund at Dharmabad.

TRAIN ACCIDENT IN WEST BENGAL: 49 DEAD, 150 INJURED

Forty-nine people are feared dead in a train collision in West Bengal, near the Jharkhand border. Over 170 people have been taken to hospital, some are said to be in critical condition.

At around 2 am on Monday, the Uttar Banga Express coming in from New Cooch Bihar to Sealdah rammed a stationary Bhagalpur-Ranchi Vananchal Express at Sainthia station in Virbhum district, 191 kms from Howrah.

The impact of the crash sent a coach flying on to a 25-feet high road overbridge and left two other compartments badly mangled. Till 8.30am, 49 bodies had been pulled out of the Vananchal Express coaches. The death toll is likely to mount further as rescue operation is still underway.

GRP sources said that around 150 injured passengers were taken to the Suri and Sainthia hospitals. Among the dead were 39 men, eight women and two babies, the sources said.

Train movement on the down line has been suspended in the Bolpur-Rampurhat section. The down Malda-Howrah Intercity Express has been cancelled and several trains are stranded on the down line.

Railway minister Mamata Banerjee, railway board chairman Vivek Sahay, railway board member (electrical) Sudesh Kumar and director general of railway health service B K Ramteke, Eastern Railway general manager V N Tripathy and other senior officials have left for Sainthia. The minister has ordered an inquiry into the mishap. Eastern Railway safety commissioner Arti Yadav will lead the probe.

The first accident relief train and medical van reached the spot at about 3.35 am. More trains are on their way from Rampurhat, Asansol and Burdwan.

Since the accident, the undamaged bogies of the Vananchal Express have been disconnected and the train has left Sainthia for Ranchi. A new engine has also reached for the Uttar Banga Express and the train will leave for Sealdah soon.

RUPEE GETS A MAKEOVER

The rupee sign, fresh from joining a select club of unique currency identities, is poised to invade the software lexicon and squeeze into computer keyboards as well as cellphones, a shift that will help ratchet up its global acceptance swiftly.

Software vendors, including Microsoft Corp, are ready to tweak operating systems to make a small but critical change to recognise a new symbol in their software vocabulary. Computer users the world over will then be able to produce the rupee symbol with a keystroke or combination of keystrokes.

Till now, the Indian currency was simply denoted by Rs or INR. Kumar’s symbol was chosen after a public competition was held among resident Indian citizens inviting entries for a symbol which ‘‘ reflects and captures the Indian ethos and culture’’ .

Over 3,000 entries were received. These were evaluated by a jury headed by the RBI deputy governor , which included experts from reputed art and design institutes.

‘‘ The entries were presented to the jury in such a manner that the identity of the competitors was not revealed to the jury members . The jury selected five final entries and also gave its evaluation of these five entries to the government to take a final decision,’’ said Soni.

GREATER NOIDA TO HOST COUNTRY'S FIRST FORMULA ONE RACE

As the city gears up for its first Formula One car racing track, it seems Greater Noida have taken a lead by identifying the land for a 5-km track in a sprawling complex of 700 acres where — if everything goes according to plan — F1 racing fans will be able to see F1 sensations like Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen, Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton burning rubber in two years’ time.

According to Lalit Srivastava, Chairman Noida and Greater Noida ‘‘after receiving a request from the IOA (Indian Olympic Association), we have sent them specifications of the site which we feel can host the F1 race in 2009,’’. He further stated that the racing track would be laid along the proposed Taj Expressway, about 8 km from Greater Noida. But it is still not confirmed that the racing track will come up in Greater Noida, it is believed that Suresh Kalmadi, president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has recently done a recce of the Greater Noida site although the association has not yet made up its mind. It is looking at other possible sites, one beyond Gurgaon near Manesar, and at the other around the Tughlaqabad shooting range in South Delhi. ‘‘These are closer to the airport,’’ an IOA official added.

However, Noida chief Srivastava, have countered the closer to airport theory. He said the proposed site will be close to the new international airport which will come up at Greater Noida, for which the green signal has been given by the central government, a crucial requirement given the heavy equipment that needs to be transported to the racing track in F1 events. Commenting on how long it would take to get the venue ready, he said laying the track does ‘‘not need all that much work, and can be used very soon’’.

The track has been finalised after architect Hermann Tilke visited the proposed sites and submitted a report to Ecclestone.

Narain Karthikeyan became the first Indian driver in the formula one in 2005 creating a mass attraction for the sport in the country, when he joined Jordan, and the latest in the news is rookie driver Karun Chandhok,who also made his debut at F1 test for Red Bull Racing.

A new team, Force India, was formed last month after billionaire Vijay Mallya bought the Spyker team for $109 million and it will compete next year.
