Firin: Kuwait's first gluten-free bakery

I was longing for Fatayer (Fatayer) and I read about this new gluten-free bakery named Firin from Bazaar so I thought I'd try it for breakfast, I keep hearing about health benefits for gluten-free foods but wasn't sure what it is, from what I read on Wikipedia that some people are sensitive to gluten (Celiac disease),plus they say removing gluten helps losing weight and increase energy levels and improves general health.

The bakery was small with a furnace, they handed me the menu; they had fatayer, cupcakes, breads, pizzas, muffins, and cookies. They only have take-away and home delivery orders, I ordered margarita and meat fatayer.

I favored their margarita, they don't offer beverages. My check was KD8 and yes its high, I highlighted this to the owner; she explained that all their ingredients are brought from the outside and are high quality, she said they will look into improving their prices and services.

The Mug & Bean is South African and they have plenty of outdoor seating near the fountains

I had breakfast with Bama and we ordered omelets with hash browns, sausage and American coffee.

The hash browns came from a box frozen before heated and were not fresh or homemade. That is a sin where I come from in the South so I just took a bite. : P The omelet looked amazing but unfortunately there wasn't any flavor. We could barely taste the veggies, cheese or egg. It was just strange and even salt and pepper didn't help.

The cafe is really cute and in a great location. I would definitely try their food again to see if we just went on an off day.

I’m sure many of you, myself too, are waiting for the opening of one of the hottest shopping destinations in Kuwait, Al Hamra Mall, that will open next week (1st of May). Now the question is “What will be the stores, shops, restaurants, and cafe’s particularly the first timers in Kuwait?”

What I know is that the mall will be a mix of high-end retail shops, restaurants, cafes, food courts, cinemas and entertainment areas, spread across four levels of the tower with a large LED screen in the center.

So now what are the shops? Honestly I don’t have a clue but from previous posts I managed to know some of them, let’s see:

Fashion stores: Hermès, Harry Winstone, Officine Panerai, Chanel, Kate Spade, Behbahani watches, Mouawad Jewelry.

I’m so happy that Kuwait has scored many world records in 2012, the latest was yesterday by lighting 40,000 candles in shape of the word AUTISM (both in English and Arabic) at Kuwait sport club in Kaifan area.

The guy from Guinness organization was impressed by the many world records achieved in Kuwait in 2012. I’d like to thank Kuwait Center for Autism for organizing this nice event for the achievement. Congrats!

I saw on Jazeera airways website that flights between Kuwait and Iraq are back on track after twenty years of discontinuation, Jazeera airways will now have two flights a week to Al Najaf airport. I also overheard that there’s a possibility that more Iraqi cities will be added in soon future.
