Graphic designers have a large presence in the arts community as well as the business community. Choosing Graphic Design Schools

Step1; Take your current education into account. If you already have a bachelor's degree in art, for instance, it might make sense to go into a certificate program where you simply learn how to use the programs since you will likely already have a firm foundation in color and balance principals.

Step2; Consider your future endeavors. If you want to work for yourself, you can consider an apprenticeship or learning on your own. The key to working for yourself is to have an excellent portfolio, so if you can accomplish this and continue making excellent work after your apprenticeship, this may be as far as you need to go into graphic design education.

Step3; Decide what is important to you. Is having a graduate degree on your resume important to you? If so, it might be wise to look into a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Graphic Design program.

Step4; Look into your local area. Is there fierce competition in the graphic design field? If you live in a place such as Chicago or New York City, for instance, there may be many graphic designers with whom you are competing. If this is the case, more education will make you look better on paper when stacked with an exceptional portfolio.

Step5; Consider your own life circumstances. If you are a busy parent, for example, a four-year full time program may be difficult, but a part-time certificate program may be doable. Either way, you are making active headway in your pursuit of being a graphic designer.

Step6; Visit the schools. Nothing will give you a better feel for the program than actually visiting the campus. Many schools also offer orientation sessions, which can offer an overview of the program.

Step7; Obtain enrollment materials. Items such as the school catalog program DVDs will help you to learn more about the school on your own time. This will also give you a more in-depth look into the program.

Step8; Speak to current and former students. No one is a better judge of the program than students that are currently in it or students who have successfully completed the program. They can give you a more realistic idea of what the classes offer and also give you the pros and cons to attending the school.

Step9; Find out if the school has a career placement program. Many schools offer assistance finding a job upon graduation. This is a critical component for many students in the journey to becoming a graphic designer.

Take a deep breathe. It is always best to clear your mind first before plunging in on your work. This should be your starting point because you are about to solve some graphic design problem the classic way.
Outline your project. Make a simple outline of the presentation graphics you will be needing. Do not get into details yet.
Identify what you are trying to say. Keep your audience visually interested by keeping your designs simple. Avoid too much clutter that can lose the focus you want to convey to the readers. Keep it simple. Simple is way better than complex, especially in images that will only be seen for a short time. Complexity obscures rather than clarify your message. Try not to fill out every available space.
Assess the type, graphics and photos. See how all these factors will blend together in the final presentation. MS Word and Excel offer some formatting programs you can experiment on to see which one is suitable.
Add emphasis using color and contrast. Your graphics must be seen easily and it should attract more attention than any other factor around it. If this is not done, their attention will be diverted on something else; ads, banners, flyer, etc.
Get a new perspective. After focusing on the graphics project, get some fresh perspective. Ask someone with enough experience in design some questions that you want answered. How do these graphics strike you? And other similar questions that can help you make up your mind.
Put some finishing touches. You may want to brighten colors, change font sizes or rearrange graphics for better overall layout. Anything that can make your designs looks better. Avoid putting on too much as it may bring more harm than good.
Take one last good look. No matter how careful you are, there will always be some mistakes to correct. Misspellings, margins and graphics that still need to be properly arranged. It is best to print out samples until you are satisfied with what you see.
Print and mount the finished work. You would not want your final work wrinkled or warping just because it is not mounted properly. There are mounting products you can choose that is quite easy to do and still appear professionally done.
With these graphic design rescuing tips, you can really look forward to a presentation without those knots in your stomach. Keep these tips in handy.
