Telugu Bodyguard Movie Review

“Bodyguard” …the movie that travelled all over India…First made in Malayalam with Dileep and Nayantaara...and then in Tamil with Vijay and Asin and then went on to become blockbuster in Hindi with Salman and Kareena. Finally here it is our Telugu version with Victory Venkatesh and Trisha playing the leads. While all other versions directed by Siddique, Telugu version is directed by Gopichand Malineni who debuted with Don Seenu (RaviTeja’s flick).

Let’s see how well it gets tuned to our Victory Venki!!

Plot: Venkatadri (Venkatesh) comes to a village Jammalamadugu to protect the landlord Varadarajula Naidu (PrakashRaj). He from there has to accompany his daughter Keerthi (Trisha) as a bodyguard to her college. While Keerthi is uncomfortable with Venkatadri, as he is interfering her privacy, she sketches a love trap to avoid him. Where does this silly game started by Keerthi leads to finally?

Venkatesh fits the Bodyguard to the core!!

Bodyguard as such has very thin storyline that bases upon a love track that runs on phone and builds up strong as emotional bond and finally there’s a twist unexpected. But there’s ample scope for the hero to go through variations from being stony bodyguard to sincere admirer to disheartened lover. And thus this subject becomes tailor made for Venkatesh. He brings his lovable comic timing during the first half where he acts as duty minded bodyguard wearing goggles and safari. He then slowly transforms into serious admirer of his phone friend. And finally who else can act better than Venki as a disheartened looser. It’s good to see Venky in all his shades after a long time. An apt remake that’s chosen for him.

Trisha like old wine is still able to make some eyes roll for sure. Her chemistry with Venkatesh comes handy here and that actually brings in believability in a phone-call love story. Saloni made her presence felt is much twisty role.

Venkatesh in his previous movies has hilarious combinations with PrakashRaj, MS Narayana and with Ali. This movie fondly reminds you those combinations. But sticking to original, director did not cook up many hilarious scenes. It would have been better if he did.

Kota, Tanikella and Dharmavarapu are limited.

Gopichand Malineni is good at his remake!!

Gopichand has good knowledge for local pulse and nativity. Firstly he treats his hero Venkatesh as King. Right from the first fight sequence, you will see how stylishly the director shows him. Then he chooses good actors for the supporting roles which makes his job half done. So in transforming the plot to suit Venkatesh, there are some hilarious episodes like the one planned to discover the girl in ladies hostel, where Venki and Ali disguise as ladies and dances for "Poovai Poovai" from Dhookudu. That’s a pretty good surprise to watch out on screen. And as for love story, Chemistry of lead pair helped him lot to bring that feel which is clearly lacking in Hindi version.

First half moves with good pace with few hilarious scenes and you see interval just when the real love story begins. Second half starts with continuous duets and finally ends with an emotional half hour. Gopichand thus succeeds in remaking the film without losing flavor and also packaging it natively.

Other departments…

Thaman offers different tunes for Bodyguard when compared to his noisy numbers he gives for other films. “Jiya Jale” and “Hosanna” are really superb on screen with picturesque locations in the background. “Oh My God” and “Evvaro” are done in humorous way in college. Background score is brilliant. Shyam K Naidu provides rich cinematography. Kona Venkat as dialogue writer disappoints a bit. He should have been as hilarious as Trivikram to make the movie more appealing. There’s still scope for comedy as Venkatesh could pull it off with any dosage of it.

Finally…

Venki’s comedy timing and hilarious episodes designed, and his chemistry with Trisha are surely gonna appeal to audience especially those who have not watched any of the remakes of this flick before. There are few new things to look upon for those who are aware of the twists of the tale. But Bodyguard still deserves a watch just for Venkatesh if you have seen any remake.

BusinessMan Movie Review

After striking gold with the mind blocking blockbuster "Pokiri", The Duo "Super Star" MaheshBabu and the director "Puri Jagannath" to do some “Business” at the Box office with much expected "Business Man”.

Add the Sankranthi season to the super success of “Dhookudu”, and get the trendy music from Lucky “Thaman” and place sensuous Kajal to dance for his tunes alongside Mahesh, and that’s the best recipe for “Business” and the result is “Business man”...Mark this paragraph once you see the movie. Now let’s take ride of the movie.

Plot, not a spoiler: Surya (Mahesh), a dashing and daring guy enter Mumbai. His vision is huge and his mission seems impossible. But yes he does it? No doubt on it! How he himself converts to “Surya Bhai” and how tactically makes that name a brand is the entire movie about.

Performances...

Mahesh, the big asset is he wins half your attention just by looks. And he looks younger, stylish and not to mention here cute, in fact cuter to the rough role he plays. And now he is armed with new dialogue technique, he started from Pokiri and developed it as a brand from Khaleja and thereon. Puri has written very witty and effective dialogues throughout, which made Mahesh’s task much easier that you don’t feel the need of comedians, even you don’t miss Ali as you see in puri’s films. Ok are you asking about dances, check out the history whether in Tamil or Telugu…Hero’s with “Superstar” tag need not do it, so no comments..;)

Kajal plays Chitra, looks good compared to her recent duds and makes a good pair with Mahesh. And her role is just a copy-paste of Ileana in Pokiri, Crying around the hero while hero is busy running and shooting.

Prakash Raj and Nazar have similar roles they had in all cop flicks. Nazar’s role is good enough but PrakashRaj does not add a penny except his strong presence. Subbaraju seems dearer than “Ali” to Puri Jagannath, as he retains his role. And a girl who plays Kajal’s friend though speaks butler Telugu, she definitely brings some laughs accidentally.Brahmaji,Dharmavarapu and Shiyaji Shinde are good

Racy First half…

Let me start with a positive first half as I very much excited and thoroughly enjoyed it frankly. Movie begins promisingly and you start enjoying the Mahesh’s dialogues one after other. Two threads go in parallel, one a silly love track between Chitra and surya, and other a serious “Business” as how Surya cleverly climbs the ladder to the power. And believe it, you believe the way the director tells you the story and enjoy the songs that comes in between.

Ok now second, let’s think beyond “Pokiri”.

Though you enjoyed the flow, I am sure there’s some thought process running inside your mind. Is there any "Pokirish" twist behind the Surya’s Mission. What’s he gonna achieve at the end? Question’s that never sleep. Of course it’s not a fault, but truly audiences do come with expectations when the director and the hero delivered a huge blockbuster and try to think in similar lines. This will happen even if Rajamouli teams up with Charan so on. And then you realize Puri is taking you nowhere, but just makes use of his known skills and that of the hero playing safe for a while. So are you expecting a twist of Pokiri, better not expect it.

So that’s Puri…the apt “Business Man”

Though there’s no mission, Puri Jagannath, succeeds hugely for his dialogues. One moment he pities fish as people eat tons of them, but complains if a shark bites one human. He discusses about Humanity satirically when he links Discovery channel with Chicken. And poses a good Question as how we worship the God “ Have you thought about wellness of God”. “Devudaa nee arogyam ela undi ani adigaara”. And he spells the statistics of the money spent on elections. One word, Dialogues are the USP of the movie.

For direction, though he is good in making a quick movie off-screen and on-screen, he offers nothing new. In one scene Mahesh fights with Police in civil dress just like Raviteja does in Idiot. And in the climax PrakashRaj cries in same fashion as he does in Pokiri and the heroine runs behind our hero madly though he screams at her whenever possible and the resemblances continue everywhere. And you wonder whether all that goes on-screen is logical and how comes things are much easier for our hero to establish such huge empire so fast. Specific Weak points you can't ignore are sudden jerks towards climax and rush up in election episode and of course the nativity of Mumbai too is a misplace. Puri better come out of Mafia to make a better flick and not repeat himself.

Thaman’s tunes are good enough and picturing of all songs is decent and they are almost placed well. 3 duets “Sir Ostaara” ..”Pilla chaavve” and “Chandamama” are great and my pick “chandamama” and did you hear about the rumors of lip lock. You might find it here..:)."Mumbai" song is well placed And “Bad boys” by swetha bharadwaj is “bad” enough that you see some censor filter’s on screen

Finally…

Many a times, movies have a mission….or a moral that brings you cheers when you see the slide “Subham”. We are so much habituated to it. But Puri is not gonna offer you that. Heroism at peaks, sensuous heroine in the songs and the guns that don’t have agreements and the dialogues that make sense and lastly a good item number…If that is what you want, Business Man have them all.

Don2 Movie Review

After being liked by very few and disturbing many with his “RA.ONE”…The King of Bollywood, Sharukh Khan is back soon with DON2, a sequel of his stylish franchise “DON”. He carries forward faithfully his entire cast including Priyanka chopra, Lara Dutta and Boman Iraani…And the Crew Farhan Akthar the director and musicians’ trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy…Great gesture of course!! Well let’s see whether he carried forward that “hit” factor to the sequel…

Plot:

Don surrenders himself to Malaysian Police Roma (Priyanka) and Malik (Om Puri) and goes to jail only to free Vardhaan (Boman Iraani). Don and Vardhaan now have the mission of stealing currency printing plates from DZ bank in Switzerland. So how they accomplish that task…Oh come on any one who watch recent Fast & Furious or any one of the MI series would better explain this…!!

Don yaa Chor!!

While the Original Don (not original...actually a copy of yesteryear Don) has a Plot that is known, a little cocktail mixing of style and sexy “Ye meraa Dil” by Kareena made it a hit then. This has given a boost to the team to make them bring up some Hollywood robbery plot and again make “yaak” tail mix with the Don to create Don2. As far as I imagine, A Don should command the world...but not “Chor Baazi”. So the plot as such brings no charm to the sequel.

But Sharukh does not disappoint…

Though the Plot disappoints …Sharukh does not fail to enthrall us. He has one-liners in stock for him.”Aaj ye sun kar meri maa kitne kush hoge…Mr. Malik, aap mere Maa ko nahi jaante”…”Sir bahut sheriff saa lagtaa hai ..Call me Don” and it’s always sounds sweet when he calls his Cop friend Roma…”Junglie Billee” and not the least when he says “Don ko pakadnaa mushkil hi nahin…naa mumkin hain”. Sharukh sports the long hair look just for a while for a change and soon switches to his self…So no worries if you don’t like that. He has that magic in his eyes and it actually shows up when he reminds his old romance with Roma. So No doubts, Sharukh always the best…

While many die to see Priyanka’s waist like we go fida for it with “Desi Girl” …Here she does no show...but plays boring cop who runs behind don with no proper plan but for just sake of it.

Lara Dutta is good enough for a song and few scenes. Boman Iraani the same…love his foolishness once again. Om Puri sticks to the role. Kunal Kapoor as Samir the hacker is a good addition.

And Hrithik plays a cameo and of course he looks stunning. Aly Khan as Diwan, VP of DZ bank Nawab shah as local goon and Sahil Shroff as Priyanka’s colleague are adequate.

Don2 is not even Don/2

Surprisingly Farhan Akthar, who has a film “Dil Chahtha hai” in his kitty, directed this flick which has just a lifted plot of some Robbery plan. There were just couple of chase scenes and suspense elements related to robbery plan but they could not hold you long in seats. And then King Khans one liners will bring some good time and that’s it that Don has!!

And it’s a blunder not to have a jabbardast item like ”Chammak Challo” or “Chikni Chameli” to lure the audience and Musical Trio Shanker-Ehsaan-Lio just lets us down with one ok number ..”Zara Dil ko Thaam lo”

Finally….

Don is a sequel for the sake of it. Who knows you might like it for its grandeur and the grace of Sharukh. So you can have some sweet time if not completely sour. But Sharukh better “Don”t do “Don” yet again...Let him come as in Swadesh or “Chak De India”..We love to see him that way.

Rajanna Movie Review

The King “Akkineni Nagarjuna” is back in his favorite season…this time not with regular “Mass” film but he has touched a different zone of patriotism with his new flick “Rajanna”. Eney, small girl plays the prime role in the movie. “Rajanna” is directed by Vijayendra Prasad who penned stories for super hit films like SamarasimhaReddy, Magadheera, Chatrapathi and most of his son, the director Rajamouli’s flicks. MM Keeravani delivers the heart, the music to the film.

Plot: Though India has got the freedom in 1947, many villages still faced atrocities by landlords and Razakars. Mallamma (Eney) hails from such a village Nelakondapalli in Adilabad district. She is daughter of freedom fighter Rajanna (Nagarjuna) who once inspired villagers to revolt against these landlords. When the Dorasani (Swetha menon) comes to know about the girl’s identity, she tries to kill her.

But Mallamma escapes and travels to Delhi to meet Nehru and ask his help to save her village. How she meets Nehru? And what’s the brave story of her dad? forms the crux of the movie!

Actors…

Eney, who plays mallamma, lives in the character. Her expressions excel the emotions needed in each scene. Her joy, sorrow, struggle, search and pain is made felt, hats off to her express all of them with sheer perfection at this young age. She’s gonna win loads of accolades for her role.

Nagarjuna who plays the title role enters the scene pre-interval. But his presence is felt by the name “Rajanna” as spread all over the film. He does the job with obvious maturity and ease and his presence post interval episodes fills the screen with energy and quenches the thirst caused by an hour wait till interval.

Sneha is seen as lachuvamma…Rajanna’s wife and she suits the role to the core and has enough space to make her presence felt.

Swetha Menon is good as Dorasani, Old man who played sambayya, Mallama’s guardian did good job.

Nasser played Mallamma’s teacher, Telangana Sakuntala and Tamil Actor Vijay Kumar played guest roles.

Ajay, Pradeep Rawath, Supreet and Ravi play Rajanna friends in positive roles, who fight till their end.

Hema and lot other’s in village put up commendable performances.

First half makes us wait and the Second does not wait for us!!

First half shows Dorasaani’s atrocities and Mallamma’s fight for existence and her journey to Delhi. Mallama’s journey to Delhi is depicted with great conviction. The director’s vision is seen in the lyrical content of the songs. MM Keeravani’s music plays major role in engaging the audience without actually showing the hero. And the pace of the movie takes a plunge with the entry of Rajanna in freedom fight scene.

While second half is filled with the flashback episodes, the inspiring and blood boiling scenes are very much there to pump in adrenaline. Wonderful fights (one in the village nelakondapalli in second half for the song “Vey Veyy” and other at Pre-Climax) choreographed by the maverick director Rajamouli lifts the movie to the needed level. And the climax is as predicted but leaves a delightful mark.

It’s a Family effort…”Vijayandra Prasad...Keeravani…Rajamouli”!!

Vijayendra Prasad who directed SriKrishna 2006 long back did not taste success then. But he is well prepared this time. It’s his wonderful screenplay that engages the audience with or without the hero on screen. Good performances are grabbed from every actor and the best from the girl Eney.

Keeravani deliver’s one of his best and each song has marvelous lyrical content. Every Song carries the movie forward and thus all songs play a vital role. While movie starts with a melody “Gijigaadu” and “Raa ree ro” takes you to the village on-screen. “Karuku raathi gundello” is one touching song when Mallamma leaves the village. And there are many written by Shiva Shakthi Datta (Keeravani’s father), Ananth Sreeram and Suddala Ashok Teja.

Cinematography provided by Shyam K. Naidu is awesome.

To say few words on Negatives, Movie should have been little more lavish especially in few scenes you feel the necessity. Movie itself is short as it is just 2 hours and its share of Nagarjuna is still lesser. In a word Rajanna is not a feast or full meals but delicious plate meal where you might not be full, but satisfied.

Finally…

Rajanna deliver’s what it promised. A patriotic musical journey ably supported by good technical team and wonderful performances. If you prepare for the difference, it won’t disappoint you much. It’s a good watch.

Panjaa Movie Review

Hit or Flop…A Disaster or a Blockbuster, craze for Pawan Kalyan is undeterred and expectations on his new film always reach the skies. And here again we have Panjaa…Powerstar’s new film where he sports never before look releasing this week. Movie is directed by Stylish director Vishnuvardhan who earlier directed “Billa” in Tamil. Sarah Jane Dias and Anjali Lavania play the female leads.

Plot...not spoiler:

Jai (Pawan Kalyan) is loyal aide to gangster Bhagwan (Jackishroff). Everything goes fine until the arrival of Bhagwan’s son Munna (Adivi sesh) enters the town from foreign. Things change upside down when Munna pricks everyone with his sadistic nature. Jai now has to choose between loyalty and controlling Munna.

Actors

Right from the looks, it’s a totally different Pawan we get on-screen. Sporting a beard throughout brings that rugged look much needed for that role. Pawan wonderfully plays with great ease and slightly deviates in intervals with his superb comedy timing. There are several scenes where he reminds us his old films…Whether posing like chiru...or dancing for “Dappu” in Paparayudu song or when heroine asks whether he ever did Karate in past reminding Tammudu. All in all, it’s a treat and every actor tries to play different once in a while and Pawan got that chance.

Adivi Sesh who played Munna (made a movie Karma entirely in US in past) is next important character. He played the role of Sadist to the core. Especially the pre-interval scene, he just builds up the scene that audience themselves want to kick him off the screen. So it’s all in the acting and he is someone to watch out more in future.

Sarah Jane Dias is just adequate. She is decent enough in simple costumes and provided needed act. But she is not the one who could get into our mind once the film is done.

Anjali Lavania though had brief role sizzles more throughout her presence. She has solo song on her and she is damn hot.

We know that Pawan and Ali are great friends off-screen and Ali’s role is just extension to that friendship. So the comedy timing between them is more like natural and good to watch.

One guy who got huge response on-screen next to Pawan is Brahmanandam. It’s not something different he did, but he is much awaited in the serious movie and he sprinkled the laughs and brought some energy and he has whole “Paparayudu” song written on him.

Jackie Shroff gets a good role and does it well. Subbaraju is very good. Tanikella Bharani as his manager is fine. Atul Kulakarni and rest are limited.

A different film in one word.

Set up in Mafia background and at the same time, bringing the story touching up with good emotions is not an easy task. And director Vishnuvardhan succeeds in it for greater extent. He builds up each character perfectly in no time. He builds up that conflicting rivalry between Munna and Jai under currently and fires it high by the interval. Entire first half is stylish and thoroughly indulges you giving you that fresh flavor.

Second half goes to faraway lands and it’s a U-turn for us. That way we get a much needed deviation into greenery and wonderful village atmosphere (Pollachi). Then we get this hilarious episode of Brahmanandam and that song “Paparayudu” that’s almost the half the screen presence of Brahmanandam. The entire episode helps the movie a lot. So how the things come into place when the two worlds meet at the end forms the climax.

Good Work off-screen!!

Thanks to the director Vishnuvardhan who has shown us something new on screen than the run-of-mill movies. The entire first half is delight to watch that too in utter silence. He had a gripping screenplay in first half, but it loosens up a little in second. Love story still needs to be worked on. While the love track reminds of Balu, The conflict between Gangster’s son and his aide reminds me of Prasthanam movie for a while.

Yuvan’s music need to be much better. Title track of Panjaa just comes at the rolling titles at the end!! “Elaa Elaa” is good. And “Paparayudu” is the best of all. “Anukoneledu gaa” is trimmed t o two lines in movie as movie does not offer much scope to it. Background score is good. But it’s an opportunity lost for Yuvan.

P.S.Vinod’s cinematography is brilliant and scores equally with slick shots in first half and loads of greenery in second. Producers Shobu, Neelima etc made a commendable job.

Dialogues by Abburi Ravi need applause. “Saayam chesina vaadu Krutagnata choopinchaka povadam entha tappo, saayam chesina vaadu Krutagnatha korukodam anthe thappu. “Bhakthi tho chesedi punyam, dharmanga chesedi daanam, em aasinchakunda chesedi saayam” are good ones.

Finally…

An honest approach in telling a story in a straightforward manner and rightly aided by good technical team. But the entertainment quotient is lesser and thus limits the reach of the movie to great extent. To see a different Pawan and a different film, do watch it.

Rating.

3/5 for that way out of box effort and style.

లవకుశుల కథ: రావణ సంహారం కావించి సీతా సమేతుడై అయొధ్య చేరిన రాముడు, ఎంతో జనరంజకంగా రాజ్యాన్ని పాలిస్తాడు. ఓ చాకలి వాడి నిందలు విన్న రాముడు, గర్భవతి గా ఉన్న సీతని అడవులకు పంపిస్తాడు. రామాయణ గ్రంధ కర్త వాల్మికి ఆశ్రమం లో సీతా దేవి లవకుశులను ప్రసవిస్తుంది. చివరగా ఆ చిన్నారులను తండ్రి వద్దకు ఎలా చేరారు? సీతా రాముల అవతారాలు ఎలా పరిసమాప్తం అయ్యాయి అనేది ముఖ్య కథ.
కట్టే కొట్టే తెచ్చే అని మూడు ముక్కల్లో రామయణాన్ని చెప్పేసుకుంటాం, కాని అసలు గుండెలు పిండె కథ ఆ తరువాతే కథ మొదలు..!!

నటీనటులు…
బాలకృష్ణ…నట జీవితంలొ కలికితురాయి శ్రీ రామ పాత్ర. ఆ మహానుభావుడు, విశ్వ విఖ్యాత నట సార్వభౌముడు నందమూరి తారక రామారావు గారి కొడుకుగా పుట్టిన ౠణాన్ని ఈ విధంగా తీర్చుకునే అవకాశం బాలకృష్ణ కి దక్కింది అని చెప్పొచు. ఆ అవకాశాన్ని తన వంతుగా నెరవేర్చారు బాలయ్య. ఎంతో ఇష్టంగా, నిష్టగా చెసారు కాబట్టి ఎన్నో సార్లు ఎన్.టీ.ఆర్ ని గుర్తు చెస్తూ అద్భుతంగా సాగింది రాముడి పాత్ర. ముఖ్యంగా సీత మీద ఉన్న ప్రేమ ఆ కళ్ళల్లొ బాగా చూపించాదు బాలకృష్ణ.
శ్రీ అక్కినేని నాగేశ్వరరావు గారు వాల్మీకి పాత్ర పొషించడం శ్రీరామరాజ్యం సినిమాకే వన్నె తెచ్చింది. నాగయ్య గారిని మరిపించగల సత్తా మరి ఆయనకే ఉంది.

సీతమ్మ అంటె యెప్పటికి అంజలి దేవి గారే. నిజంగా సీతమ్మ తల్లి దిగొచ్చారా అనిపిస్తుంది ఆమెని చూస్తే! కావున పొలిక వ్యర్ధం. అయినా నయనతార బాలయ్య కి సరిజొడు గా సీత పాత్రలో ఇమిడిపొయింది. ఆత్యంత కీలకమయిన ఈ పాత్రలో నయనతార చాలా బాగా చేసింది అని చెప్పొచు…నయనతార సీత ఎంటి? అన్న వారందురు...శభాష్ నయనతార అంటారు ఖచ్చితంగా..!!
లవకుశులుగా చిన్నారులిద్దరు సినిమా ఇంకా ముద్దొచెలా చేసారు...రామాయణ కథ చెప్పే పాటల్లో మురిపించారు.
తన సినీజీవితం లొ అందరి హీరోలకు సహయ పాత్రలు చేసిన శ్రీకాంత్ కి లక్షమనుడి పాత్ర అచ్చంగా సరిపొయింది. కాంతారావు గారు చేసిన పాత్రని చక్కగా పొషించాడు శ్రీకాంత్.
కౌసల్య గా కేఆర్ విజయ మెప్పించారు. కన్నాంబ పొషించిన పాత్ర ఇది.
ధారా సింగ్ కి ఆంజనేయ పాత్ర కొట్టిన పిండి. అలాగె ఆంజనెయుడు ఒక బాలుడి రూపం లొ రావటం కొత్తగా బాగుంది. భూదేవి పాత్రలో రోజా కావాల్సిన రౌద్రాన్ని ప్రదర్శించింది. భరతుడి గా సమీర్,జనకునిగా మురళి మోహన్, చాకలి తిప్పన గా బ్రహ్మానందం, వశిష్టుని గా సీనియర్ బాలయ్య సరిపొయారు.

లవకుశ లో రేలంగి,సుర్యాకాంతం,రమణారెడ్డి గారు లేని లోటు కనిపిస్తుంది.

ఇళయరాజా సంగీతం అత్యధ్బుతం

జగదానంద కారక....జానకి చంద్ర నాయక...అంటూ బాలు సీతరాములను స్వాగతిస్తూ పాడే పాటతో సినిమా ఆరంభం అవుతుంది.. "యే నిమిషానికి యెమి జరుగునో" అనె పాట తెలీని వారుండరెమో...ఆ సందర్భం లో వచ్చే "గాలి నింగి నీరు " ని సగానికి కుదించారు..:(."సీతా సీమంతం " చూడటానికి కనువిందు చేస్తుంది
ఇక రామయణాన్ని వర్ణించే మూడు పాటాలు "దేవుళ్ళె మెచ్చింది ...మీకెంతో నచ్చింది..శ్రీ సీతా రామ కథ ", "రామయణము..శ్రీ రామయణము..." , "సీతా రామ చరితం" మూడు ఆణిముత్యాలు. శ్రేయ ఘోషల్ గాత్రం చాలా మధురం గా ఉంది ఈ పాటల్లొ. జొన్నవిత్తుల గారు అన్ని పాటలు చాలా చిన్ని చిన్ని పదాలతో చాలా బాగా రాశారు.బాపు సంతకం అన్ని పాటల్లొ స్పష్టంగా కనిపిస్తుంది.

బాపు రమణీయం చిరస్మరణీయం !!

కమ్మని పదాలతో శ్రీ రామరాజ్యాన్ని రసరమ్యం చేసిన ముళ్ళపూడి రమణ గారు మన మధ్య లేరు అంటే బాధ గా ఉంది. వారి స్మృతులతో వారికి అంకితమిస్తూ ఆనాటి లవకుశ కి తనదైన ముద్ర వేసారు బాపు గారు. నిజానికి లవకుశ లో చాలా కష్టమయిన సన్నివేశాలు ఉన్నాయి. బాపు తెలివి గా చాలా వరకు కుదించి పాటలతో కథని నడిపించాడు.
లక్షమనుడు సీతని అడవిలో దింపిన సన్నివేశం, రాముని మీద అనుమానం తో సీత అయొధ్య కి వచ్చే సన్నివేశం, రాముడిని లవకుశులు ఎదిరించే సన్నివేశం, ఒకటా రెండా. ఇలా చాలా సన్నివేశాలు బాపు హ్రుద్యంగా తెరకెక్కించాడు. ప్రతి సన్నివెశం ఒక అందమైన బొమ్మలా కళ్ళ ముందు ఉంది అంటే అది ఆర్ట్ డైరెక్టర్ రవీందర్, సినిమాటొగ్రఫర్ పి.ఆర్.కె రాజుల కృషి ఎంతో ఉంది. గ్రాఫిక్స్ కూడ చాల సహజంగా ఉన్నాయి.

తప్పక చూడాలి...
లవకుశ మళ్ళీ తీయటం అసంభవం. కాని నేటి తరానికి రామయణం రుచి చూపించాలని చేసిన ఈ చిరు ప్రయత్నం నిజంగా హర్షనీయం.మొదటి బాగంలొ కొన్ని హెచ్చు తగ్గులున్నా రెండవ బాగం చాలా బాగుంది. ఒక మంచి చిత్రం గా నిలిచిపొతుంది శ్రీరామరాజ్యం

RA.ONE MOVIE REVIEW

RA.ONE is no doubt the most anticipated movie of the season and the reason’s obviously for it being the movie of Sharukh Khan, the King of Khan’s. Added to it, it’s a huge scale science fiction and not to deny that is exceedingly publicized that it is talked over than any other burning problem of the nation, thanks to the promotion campaign run by the Sharukh himself as he has stake in the movie. Directed by Anubhav Sinha who debuted with Tum Bin and later directed Stylish “Dus”, RA.ONE has gorgeous and lucky lady Kareena Kapoor who boasts of handful of biggest grosser’s of Bollywood.

Let’s peep into this virtual world of RA.ONE!!

Plot: Shekhar (Sharukh), a very caring father always fail to get the hugs from his son Prateik (Armaan Varma) for being so timid. While Prateik loves the villains in his video games, Shekhar believes in Good to win over bad. But to win over his son’s attention, Shekhar designs a video game RA.ONE (Random Access .ONE) where it is almost impossible for the hero of the video game, G-ONE (replica of Shekhar) to win it. Prateik takes the challenge and wins the first round. Now RA.ONE who cannot bear the defeat enters the real world to win the game, killing prateik. Witness the Super battle of RA.ONE and G.ONE on big screen.

Virtual world comes to real…

Well RA.ONE before the release, promised to serve us a feast of stunning visuals. And truly holding to it, the premise set for the film and the things we see on the screen firmly stand to the word given. Go start from the titles, the reference to the virtual world is made. Of course movie do take some little time to introduce the family members and colleagues of Shekhar, who are gonna be part of this adventure. Bear the very filmy, but not too funny appearances of Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt.

But once the real game begins, there’s no seeing back. We see the ambitious RA.ONE trying to escape into the real world. And then there’s a brilliant chase and fight with stunning visuals of flying cars when RA.ONE fights with G.One. I guess that’s more than suffices the pre-interval block and make viewers happy for they get what they expect to see. Then the later part brings us Sharukh’s kind of slapstick comedy made of few silly fights (ok, bearable) and few things that draw line between Robot and a human. While there is a lengthy train sequence reminding you the Rajnikanth’s Robot, Sharukh might have felt it inevitable to bring in RajniKanth for a cameo. Well Rajni’s appearance as chitti is small and fits in considering Rajni’s health condition too. And here’s the climax that’s good enough visually while keeping us engaged throughout.

Actor’s On-screen…

Sharukh has chosen to play south Indian Shekhar Subramanian, may be to offer some difference in what we see in regular films. That served the gap between him and his kid and supported the variation he offered for G.ONE.As G-ONE, he with ease plays superhero, who has a mission of protecting his family. But the producer in him dominated the actor, for providing rich extravaganza live to the screen.

Kareena does her job well and even sizzles in “Chammak Challo” saving some money to the producer for not bringing in an additional item girl for that one.

Young Kid Armaan Varma, plays way better for a debutant and scores full marks.

As RA.ONE, the Villain in the game gets into the skin of someone in real world, Tom Wu a Chinese actor plays the role in first half and Arjun Rampal does it in second. Both are adequate. Sahana Goswamy and Satish shah suffices well for supporting roles.

Fantastic Visual effects…

Jeff Kleiser took care of the visual effects for RA.ONE in unquestionable manner. The perfection in the work is seen in cubic transformations of lead roles. The fantastic chase sequence and blowing up of cars in London, is just mind-blowing as Bollywood movie is concerned. While Train sequence though well shot, has less impact as we see similar thing in Rajni’s Enthiran. Climax and loads of visuals which we see in movie flow are all superb. Credit also goes to Red Chillies VFX team on whole. Oscar winner Rasool Pookutty does the in-sync sound mixing. Nicola Pecoroni does splendid job for cinematography.

Awesome work off-the screen…

“Anubhav” Sinha as name suggests might have gained much experience watching other Sci-Fi films, but still makes a difference with RA.ONE. And while making an Indian science fiction, there are some things like sentiment and Romance that do hinder the proceedings, but it’s up to audience to answer themselves, if those things are unavoidable considering the whole thing as fiction. Vishal Shekhar increases the reach of movie by providing some cool tunes in form of “Dildaara..” and rocking “Chammak challo”

Time for negative points…

It would have been absolute joy to watch a movie that has perfect storyline combined with the Visual effects like Avatar. But RA.ONE lacks behind there. Nevertheless our Shekhar aka G-ONE tries to build in few emotions of family, playing a caring father telling idealistic proverbs now and then and giving a message towards the end. When termed as Children’s movie, is there a need to include words like “Kondom Kondom” for Konjum Konjum. This is high time, censor needs to wake up.

Finally…

RA.ONE stands number one for Visual effects, so far on Indian cinema. If that is what you expect from the film, RA.ONE delivers it without hesitance. While the movies with no proper story but just go to become block-buster with the star value, RA-ONE can also attain and surpass them, but whether it surpasses the 175 Crore put on it!! Time should tell it.

3 STARS. RA.ONE is one happy watch for the difference it offers, and you might be unhappy if you focus on flaws!!.

7th Sense Movie Review

Solid combo of Suriya- AR Murgadoss- Harris Jairaj who delivered “Ghajini” is back with 7aum Arivu and the dubbed version in Telugu is called 7^th Sense. Sruthi Hassan pairs with Suriya. So going by the combination involved and the trailers, the movie released with decent expectations and thanks to the Deepavali festival that’s around!!

Story:

Bodhidharma, a Buddhist monk of Indian origin who lived in 5^th century travelled to china then. He treated diseased with medicines he invented and he possessed variety of skills like hypnotism and other warfare techniques.

In Present day, Subha (Sruthi Hassan), a young genetic scientist tries to bring back the power and wisdom of Bodhidharma by infusing his DNA into his successor Aravind (Suriya). Will she succeed in accomplishing her task? What are various hindrances the couple needs to face comprises the flick.

Actors:

Surya plays two roles of Bodhidharma and Aravind. He is damn handsome as young prince Bodhidharma. His get up as old Bodhidharma looked natural and elegant. He’s seen with complete bald head depicting the actual pictures of Bodhidharma. While as Aravind, he looked cool and he showcased his six-pack physique in needed scenes. Suriya tries to please his mass fans and variety seekers with his two different characters and this brilliant and dedicating actor delivers that with ease.

Sruthi Hassan gets the substantial role and scores very good marks both for her looks and her acting skills that flow in her blood. While she looks stunningly cute in songs, she had a lot of dialogue to explain the essence of the happenings. So she is promising and more to look for in days to come.

Johnny Tri Nguyen, a Vietnamese American film and television actor is seen as powerful villain who hails from china. With his serious looks with the power of hypnotism, he adds spice to proceedings.

Sruthi friends and Suriya’s dwarf companion did decent job.

Gist of two halves…

Movie flows in regular straight pattern starting from Bodhidharma.First half is decently distributed among the Subha-Aravind’s romance track giving place to few songs and then Subha’s research and the Villain’s entry. So the flow is smooth and adequate though nothing great as expected.

Interval and very few minutes from then, things become very clear and there’s nothing left out that could go against audience guess. And the fact that is indigestible is that there’s nothing new that’s delivered by the genious director Murugudoss.

Murugudoss disappoints….

Movie depends on simple thread of bringing back some powers to life to fight back the evil. And that is told in even simpler fashion but stretching it for 3 lengthy hours . While the villainy shown by the hypnotism trick seemed different, excessive use of it and its repetition becomes funny and loses its impact when truly tried to attack Suriya-Sruthi in badly made graphical fight sequence. While that fight sequence is lengthier one, the climax which is supposed to be even bigger falls flat with just one on one fight ( while such a huge powers attained with such a filmy effort serves such an ordinary fight..Disappointed!!). And sub plot of a wide-spreading disease (like in recent film Contagion) is very poorly written. Shanker would have dealt that episode much better. The movie which already lacks heart leaves lot of space for improvement.

Goodies….

Harris Jayaraj’s back ground score is flawless and all the songs are very good on screen. All the songs are nicely pictured and are pleasant when seen on screen thanks to gorgeous Sruthi and her dazzling chemistry with Suriya. Ravi.K.Chandren's cinematography is adequate.

Finally….

First of all, the title itself has no sense. And overall 7^th Sense is almost a regular movie but differently packaged. If only for Suriya and Sruthi, this serves fine as a regular time-pass flick. But if you are seeking a different kind in lines of Ghajini, this is not the one.It just serves little difference.

OOSARAVELLI MOVIE REVIEW

“DUSSERA” …A Big Festival being around…It’s time for celebrations…family gatherings and finally for movies. While “Dookudu” released few days back is ruling the roost, It’s NTR’s turn to hit the box-office with new film “Oosaravelli”. Surendar Reddy of “Athanokkade”, “Kikk” directs the flick. He earlier directed NTR for “Ashok”. Tammana plays the female lead opposite Young Tiger.

Let’s check in brief what’s it all about…

Plot(Not much spoiler): Tony(NTR) a easy going guy who does petty settlements for money, comes to Hyderabad from Mumbai. He falls for Niharika (Tamanna). NTR in his acts, behave bit differently based on situations starts killing the baddies one after other with hidden motto. What’s the story behind his killing the goons? What’s the connection of the heroine with the main plot? etc are revealed as the movie proceeds!

Actors:

Whatever firstly let’s appreciate NTR, for choosing a title “Oosarvelli” rather than some general mass title to suit his image. He tries hard to come out of Angry Lad image and tries to be a lover boy for a while and act comically like RaviTeja for a while. So while he is not himself, he is just adequate for the role. Ease in dance is of course cake walk for NTR, though there’s no much scope here. But definitely his fans will miss the punch that they get through his powerful dialogues and emotions. Wish he switches back to that for his mass followers.

Tammana has got real meaty role here. She balances the glamour quotient and emotions perfectly. It’s a rare thing that Heroine has that much of screen space these days as almost 10 minutes in the later half entirely runs on her. Her acting ability comes in handy here. She is one thing to look out for in this flick. She is superb in “Niharika” song.

Payal Ghosh who is seen in “Prayanam” plays Tammanna’s friend. She shares most of her friend’s screen time. She supports the proceedings from the beginning and gains more importance towards the end.

O God, It’s too tiresome and irritating to see Prakash Raj is same old Don Ajjubhai( even his name is disgustingly boring) role with such an idiotic same old costumes. While there is no brahmanandam here, Jaya Prakash and Raghubabu etc try to add some comedy. MS Narayana also supports them. Very few other actors like Tanikella, Shiyaji shinde and Kikk Shyam are adequate.

So What’s the gist!!

Director Surendar Reddy tries to tell the regular revenge drama in rather twisted manner. He borrows theme of “Aarya” for first half. First half is filled with some triangular love story between NTR and Tammana and her would be( a guy plays similar role like Sivabalaji in Aarya). And there’s a side track of Jaya Prakash, don wannabe to support this love track. For sure the comedy track, spills some laughs here and there, and the quick songs help first half to move smoothly.

Interval Bang and initial second half reveal the actual motto of the flick. While this part is dealt fine, the actual plot or reason is definitely not that worthy or exciting to hold the flick strongly. After relevation, there’s nothing much left over for last half hour but to rush up and say a good bye.

What are good….

The Director shows few sparks here and there…To name few, The boy meets girl scene pictured in Kashmir and the song that follows is good. The Story that follows immediately after interval is gripping and possesses some seriousness. Using RGV’s titles for villain gang, whole JP’s comedy track is adequate. “Niharika” , “Brathakaali”, “Daandiyaa” are nicely shot. “Friend ante caring” has nice situation. Tamanna looks very good throughout. Devisri Prasad composes music while Rassol Ellore handles cinematography. Two action episodes are well handled with a song background and others suffices.

What’s All Missing…

Though the entire plot seems little twisty, It finally ends the same and depends on the same old revenge saga. Movie as such lacks hilarious comedy which is USP these days to cover up its cliches.

Finally…

Though not surprisingly fresh, Movie offers regular masala for movie goers this festival. First half, NTR’s fan base and Tamanna’s role will surely make up for a watch if in case you don’t have an option. Festival time, Huge release will help this movie for a weekend.

Dhookudu Movie Review

Undoubtedly most awaiting movie of the season, “Dhookudu” has come out finally. Super Star Mahesh Babu is quick this time compared to his previous hiatus before “Khaleja”. Samantha, who stole our hearts as Jessie paired up with the prince. Srinu Vaitla, known for his entertainers like “Ready” “Venki” etc directed this one. And Luckiest Music director Thaman provided rocking tunes for Dookudu.

Plot(very slight spoiler): Ajay is daring and dashing Police officer. His mission is catching a gangster Nayak(Sonu sood). In a short while, Ajay comes to know that Nayak in the past, tried to kill his father Shanker Narayan(Prakash Raj), a good leader who lived for people. How Ajay puts an end to the Gangster and his team in a dramatic way is the entire movie about. And of course some space is reserved for Ajay’s romance with cute Prashanti (Samantha).

Actors:

Mahesh looks dashing justifying the title's slogan "Daring and Dashing"…And he without any argument steals the screen space with his stunning looks. He carries forward his comedy timing which is seen in Khaleja. While his short stint in Pokiri as Police is ever memorable, He extends that role of “Krishna Manohar” and perfectly dons it with cool one-liners and stressing the word “Police” periodically. He also wears white and white MLA role, and let me hold it as suspense the reason behind it.

And female lead opposite Mahesh definitely faces that pressure as to match the thunderous glamour of prince. Samantha looks very fresh with Mahesh. She is good in all songs…and why not in scenes, because she is seen only in songs. Chinmayi’s dubbing(dubbed for her in Ye Maaya chesaave) did not suit Samantha in this role.

Prakash Raj plays Mahesh’s side this time as his father. The heart of movie’s plot and he brings life to that character and need to mention, very few emotional scenes between son and father gives that impact, should thank PR for it.

Mah”Esh” blesses "Parvathi" Melton with an item number…She sizzles for a while, but could not beat Mumaith’s “ippatikinka naa vayasu”. Happy day’s Sonia plays Samantha’s friend, has nothing to boast about.

MS Narayana plays role of hero-wannabe irrespective of his age. His role-play as youngsters like Ramcharan, NTR, and Balayya brought few whistles. Brahmanandam too supports him aptly with his craze for reality shows. SivaReddy get to play good role as Mimicry artist and even plays a pimp.

Sonu Sood gets big slot, but nothing different. Nazar, Suman, Kota, tanikella, chandramohan, dharmavarapu, shafi, Ajay, subbaraju,Sudha, Shiyagi, Master Bharath…name them and you find them all here….have limited and adequate roles. Mahesh’s friends all did well while Vennela Kishore scores bit more.

Simple Revenge with Huge Drama!!

First half moves with good pace. Quick fights …Superb songs and pretty good one-liners fill the pre-interval with no gap. Cute romance thread between Sam and Mahesh looks much cuter as chemistry works perfectly. Director Srinu brings up “Reality-show” concept in to the proceedings, creating sufficient laughs. Brahmanandam handles it aptly; especially when he seeks SMS from audience is quite hilarious. First half which ends with a huge fight ( as big as climax) seem to be self-sufficient.

While Audience are content with the first, Srinu Vaitla plans for a huge second half with not much stuff but just to drag further the scenes he built in first half. He plugs in his regular drinking scene (Here Mahesh plays Balayya by beating his thighs), little confusion drama, pitching in loads of artists. While there are periodic laughter’s, there are more dull and artificial ones in between. Climax is again hilarious and ends with a sweet note highlighting the Father and son bonding.

Thaman rocks with his tunes while Kona Venkat smashes with his one-liners…

While Many one-liners like “Mind lo Fix ayithe”,”Bayam ante telini Blood” are hit with audience, there are still more in store in some scenes praising NTR and touching ANR and Krishna…where every dialogue rocked. Thaman this time did a great job and his tunes which already caught up like slow poison are still colorful on screen. “Guruvaaram March okati” “Dettadi…”…”Chulbuli” each song is good on screen and K.V.Guhan(Athadu) and Prasad Murella provides rich cinematography.

And Srinu Vaitla mixes the Cocktail…

Srinu Vaitla is in control for first half, but stuffs second one with his regular comedy giving way to some boredom. But he still maintains balance, uses Mahesh’s comedy timing aptly and rushes the film towards climax before it gets overdone. Dookudu tries to be blend of action and comedy but do not form a perfect cocktail.

Final Say

Had it been trim, and if it had an effective storyline, it would have been just great. Nevertheless, it sure satisfies Mahesh’s fans for no doubt. And it appeals to lot more crowds for the good things like songs, good comedy scenes having MS and Brahmi. And Movie as such will give paisa-vasool for it never misses being a regular masala film. So Mahesh plays safe this time and he gonna rock this festival.

Dhada Review

Young Yuvasamrat Nagachaitanya is quick to come back this year for second time with his new flick “Dhada” after hitting the bull’s eye with 100% Love for summer. He pairs with lucky mascot Kajal. New comer Ajay Bhuyan handles the direction and movie produced by Akkineni’s almost the home banner Kamakshi films.

Let’s check out if Chai really about to make the box-office shiver with his Dhada…

Plot: Viswa (Naga Chaitanya) just completes the graduation in USA. He lives with his brother who loves him the most. He falls for a rich but lonely girl Ria (Kajal) and in parallel messes up with a cruel don RD (Rahul Dev) who runs a huge sex racket and other illegal stuff in Las Vegas. How he wins his lady and puts an end to the villain is all “Dhada” about!!

Actors:

Nagachaitanya...(Let’s go with his pet name chai to make it simpler going forward)…so far was seen in pretty cool zone just romancing the girls either in colleges or going around trees tries to do action-oriented stuff this time. Well if you just look at chaitu leaving aside the things around…he improves a lot in dances…steps up to the next level in romance scenes…But there’s still a lot of space for improvisation in all other regular scenes. He could gel well with action sequences with good physique and lure his lady fans with cool looks and costumes that suit him the best.

Its relief for people who are bored watching Kajal in choodidhaars...as she sheds some inhibitions and increases the glamour quotient in songs there by heating up the surroundings for a while. But her sober character remains the same in this movie too and off-song, her hair-do just irritates us. Over all, just loved her in the songs than never before.

Rahul Dev puts up decent act. Kelli Dorge the helicopter boy does his favorite past time here too. Tamil actor Sriram though played pivotal role looked very dull throughout. Samiksha who is seen as his wife is adequate.

Brahmanandam, Ali are forcefully forced to enhance the torture…so it is just additional pain to what we see on screen. Mukesh rishi as Kajal’s father had meaningless role.

Simple plot screwed by jumping screenplay!!

Well the story is rather simple one, Boy meets girl for songs and he beats up bad guys in frequent intervals and he feels emotional for his family. And the movie is exactly made up of few scenes each for the Heroes romance, fights and family which come one after other every 10 min. And there is neither perfect sync nor fun element that ties these repetitive scenes.

“Dhada” is actually Ajay Bhuyan’s second, while his first film “Houseful” is still mugging in boxes for long time. He did not come up with any surprises and he is fine with scene by scene. But while summing up the things together, they are not in order. Nor there is effective camerawork or engaging background score that sets up interest for the audience.

While First half flows ok which ends with a simple twist in hope for better second. Second looses track by the time we get to extended climax.

Songs are the savior….

In this bumpy ride, songs come to our rescue in regular intervals…All the songs composed well by Devi Sri Prasad are still colorful on screen. “Hello Hello Laila” which is chartbuster is superbly pictured (although the song creeps in for no reason). “Bhoome gundranga” and “Telugu Bengali” throw light on Chai’s effort in dances. Let’s cheer him for that. “Deewali Deepani” shows the sensuous side of Kajal. So songs are the best part of the entire film and One scene where Chaitu asks Kajal for date using set of photographs adding up to say “What About A Date” seemed little innovative.

Finally…

Well if only for looking at chai as to how he could handle action genre, He has done his job well. But sad he is not amply supported by technical team. People looking only for Chai’s looks, Kajal’s glamour and colorful songs should just sit through the movie patiently and wait for that, 5 minutes when song plays.

More effort on screenplay and trimming the dragging parts would have made a crispier and better film.

Hindi Singham Review

Here comes yet another remake of south Indian cinema “Singham” that hit the screens this week. Thanks...It’s not Salman this time, But AjayDevagan who exhibits his 6-pack for this Cop-flick. Rohit Shetty of Golmaal directs this flick and Prakash Raj who played the villain in the Original repeats the same here. Original had Tamil top star Surya as hero.

Plot: Jaykanth Shikre (Prakash Raj) …a ruthless Kidnapper-smuggler controls the Goa city with political and police support. And BajiRao Singham (AjayDevagan) an honest inspector in a small village treats his fellow villagers as his own family and enjoys their love and respect. What happens when destiny makes these different poles clash while Singham is transferred to the city where he is all alone?

Actors:

AjayDevagan left no stone unturned to fit the role of Cop. Though he has done it before in Gangajal, He leaves his signature firmly on Singham with his new toned body, sharp eyes and powerful dialogues. Though there were few unintended laughs when he tried doing few dance moves imitating Salman and while jumping with invisible ropes every now and then, overall it is remarkable effort.

PrakashRaj is the show stealer…Witty punch lines seemed wittier than in script, thanks to his slang that blends Tamil with Hindi. A commanding villain could elevate the hero and Prakash as JayaKanth Shikre effortlessly accomplishes his task. And Bollywood is freshly enjoying this great actor who proved a lot in south.

Kajal Aggarwal, who rarely acted with heroes of age 40+ in south cinemas and always enjoyed dancing in handful of songs in each film in south, has barely got a role in her awaited Bollywood dream. I wish, but not sure if someone notices her!!

Other actors who played other cops, Prakash Raj’s side-kick etc, wicked politician all acted decently.

High octane Cop Flick…

Yes, there is seriously anything we have never seen so far, That Singham brings for us. Indeed we have seen all this much before in 80’s. But again…It’s the impact that a film has on you, while watching it counts. Singham has many such situations which boil your blood and a common audience just wants to get up from his seat and kick the villain and here Devgan does the same on behalf of us. Thus this Tom and Jerry fight between Jaykanth Shikre and BajiRao Singham was made thoroughly engaging during the latter half. And unlike Dabangg which is more of family drama, Singham has a broader canvas involving police and politicians.

Direction and other stuff…

Rohit Shetty did a quite many modifications in the script first to suit the nativity and then made it really racy and crispier than the original. And poor girl Kajal has to face the brunt, as her screen presence is nullified in the process. While the first half has nothing much but to establish the characters leisurely, movie catches the pace in the second and runs firmly till the end. Climax should have been bit better.

Farhad-Sajid score well for dialogues written for both Singham-Shikre while Screenplay by Yunus Sajawal is much better than the original. Nothing to speak about the songs, but back ground score given by Ajay-Atul is appreciable

Final Say…

So this is Devagan’s Dabangg in one word…while Singham offers nothing stunning or refreshing, It neither let’s you down. But will definitely satisfy your senses if you are in for an action.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

The story of 3 guys, I guess it all started with “Dil chahtha hai” and the numerology goes on continuing from “3 Idiots” to very recent “Delly Belly” and Let’s not count the countless crap comedies with three guys leading them. And now we are again there this week with “Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara” ….and here our “3” played by Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol and Farhan Akthar and the movie is directed by Farhan’s sister, Zoya Akthar who earlier directed “Luck by chance”.

Plot: When Kabir (Abhay Deol) is engaged to Natasha (Kalki Kochlein…Remember Chandramukhi in Dev D), He with his two good friends...Arjun(Hrithik) and Imran(Farhan) who are collectively called as 3 musketeers set on to a much awaited bachelor trip(Idea probably derived from Hangover) to Spain. This fun trip where each has a fearful sport they like and other two are bound to play it, helps them discover themselves!!

Actors and Characters…

Hrithik plays Arjun…a financial broker for whom money means everything. Role really does not need much of him as it goes very smooth with subtle emotions and moreover his fans will be happy to see him cool on screen. And he meets Laila, played by Katrina. She loves to live the life to the fullest and choose to work as Deep sea diving instructor for some time every year. Stunning looks...Simple sentences…make her absolutely comfortable like at home.

Abhay Deol as Kabir gives a balance of jovial and matured act. He, who seems capable of controlling his friends, is himself not very sure about his love life. Kalki Kochlein fits the bill for the short role.

Farhan Akthar plays vivacious chap among three…his romantic encounters with Nuria (played by Spanish actress Ariadna Cabrol) are witty. He keeps us engaged throughout with a loud role while the poetic lines he spills in frequent intervals are good.

Nasiruddin shah played a guest…not so memorable.

España está espléndida...

Haha the heading means “Spain is splendid”. What that makes this very predictable journey a very refreshing one is the back-ground chosen for it. Full credit goes to cinematographer Carlos Catalan for bringing the picturesque locations of Spain, live and raw on to the screen. Deep sea diving in Costa Brava…Sky diving in Sevilla...Tomatino festival and Running of the bulls in Pampalona …every episode gives us a good feel. Though the fears of the three friends are similar and lesson learnt after each sport is same…It’s just the wonderful work by Carlos that glues us to the screen…

Lets Sum up other things….

Hrithik-Katrina….sure this beautiful pair is much awaited and we are lucky at last to have them here…And chemistry is rocking as expected. Music too goes according to numerology that is “Trio” Shanker Ehsaan Loy…No big surprises but “Senorita” sounds sweet while all others are good on screen. Screenplay is quick in the first while slows down in the second half, but is good enough to sustain the interest. One big disappointment is, there are neither too loud laughter’s nor the heartrending moments, But then the perfect timing between the 3 musketeers bonds the audience to the movie to make it cool one-time watch if not “Dobara”

180 Movie Review

After two debacles in the row, Siddardh comes back with new movie 180. This time he brings his mentor Jayendra as the director, while cuties Nithya menon and Priya Anand pair up with him. Let’s check out if luck favors this Lover boy.

Story(Slightly spoiler!! check before you read this section): Mano (Siddardh) comes to Hyderabad for a short stay. Vidya (Nithya Menon), A press photographer is fascinated by happy going nature and cute antics of Manu. Their relationship turns into love quickly. But Manu who is diagnosed with a disease (No guesses what it is –obviously cancer) has just 180 days (6 months) to live. On top of it, Manu is already married to Renu (Priya Anand). So what’s the end to this tragic saga is left for your guesses!!

Actors:

Siddardh plays two shades … as a happy going guy in the first part and facing the agony in the second. He is very comfortable playing the first as that was always his comfort zone.

Priya Anand is one solid plus in the film. She excels in all ways…The way she mimics; her costumes and her own dubbed voice are all perfect. She should get some more films.

Nithya Menon seems to be a few film wonder. It’s just a half cute face with No heroine stuff. May be she playing girl falling damn easily for a boy and then running behind him for no reason still irritates us.

Old man who played Siddard’s house owner spills few laughs. Geetha plays his wife. Tanikella plays Priya Anand’s father. Siddard’s friend did decent act.

Everything in slow motion!!

The pain begins with the hero’s intro song where we see everything in not just dragging but killing slow motion. And movie follows the similar slow motion while revealing the two similar love plots one in Hyderabad and other in USA. Interval bang is placed without revealing much...by then the patience is lost. But a minute curiosity of whether your guesses about the twist to be revealed would be right or not still remains. But the later half though makes your guesses right but proves you wrong for choosing this film, thanks to the torturous twist that’s revealed.

Few Songs in first half are just drum beats that are pictured even slowly especially the title song and a song that’ starts as “AJ Avo”. There’s a child labor episode, but it too lacks the realistic approach. While Love plots with no novelty wastes the first half, overdose of tragedy sinks the second.

Let me sum up few positives…

Balasubramaniam's Cinematography is first-class. But that needs patience to appraise it. Surely there are some good laughs here and there especially scenes with siddard’s house owner. And of course few accidental laughs that comes out of pain. I should tell you two songs “Nee Maatalo Mounam Nenenaa” excellently sung by Karthik and Swetha Menon is excellently pictured. Other song “Ninna leni vinthale choopene” is hummable. So overall music by Sharreth scores pass marks. And as I said, it’s Priya Anand that’s little saving grace. Dailogues by Umarji anuradha who penned for Ye Maaya chesaave has very little scope here.

Final Say…

With the story that lacks no fresh point and with dragging screenplay...180 do not make a delightful watch. And now why the title 180…It takes your brain away to find that. I guess 108 should have been the apt one.

Rating…

Yeah...one more advantage of the title...It gives me the Rating = 1.80

Hope you guys are enjoying the summer at its best!! And this summer in Hollywood is growing excited week by week. Here’s a gist of coolest releases of early summer…

X-Men First class

Plot: This is the prequel to all X-Men series so far…where we see the origin of interesting characters of X-Men i.e. Professor X was Charles (James McAvoy) and Magneto was Erik (Michael Fassbender) etc. How together the mutants with variety of skills prevent the World War to happen is interesting.

Goodies: Tightly woven screenplay, interesting story telling, cool performances by youngsters and above all excellent graphics make it the best installment of X-Men Series. One will be thrilled in the scenes where submarine is pulled out of sea, or Pulling back a ship with the giant anchor, Stopping millions of missiles with the Magnetic power…and what not..Everything the young mutants do is exciting and is must a delight to watch.

Rating: 4/5 Strong Go…

Kung Fu Panda -2

How can one just forget the sweet sluggishness of our dear Po? And now he is back in the sequel to save China and Kung fu from evil Lord Shen. In the process Po learns his past and realizes the inner peace. Check out how Kung fu can stop something that stops Kung fu!!

Goodies: With Jack Black dubbing for Po and Angelina Jolie dubbing for Tigress and Jackie Chan for Monkey, Kung Fu Panda 2 has sufficient dose of funny action sequences choreographed in streets of china. Frankly Second installment is not as endearing as the first part, but Po’s journey from being innocent to the winning hero who master’s inner peace with help of his friend’s the Furious Five has good chances of charming you again.

Hangover-2

Plot: This time, our funny four Stu (Ed Helms), Phil (Bradley Cooper), Doug (Justin Bartha), and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) head to Thailand to attend Stu’s wedding. That night, they sit over a campfire and have a beer and roasted marshmallows. And the next morning, they end up waking up in dirty hotel room in Bangkok along with Chinese gangster Chow. And the Adventurous tracking of “what happened Last Night” continues!!

What’s Good/Bad: Seriously the second installment just made in very similar fashion to encash the expectations set by the Original released 2009. This one though was not that rocking because of predictability, is still a great fun. This time they are given company by chain smoking monkey, silent Buddhist monk, a trans-gender Prostitute and what not that keeps you engaged at its best.

Pirates Of Caribbean: Stranger Tides.

Captain Jack Sparrow(Johnny Depp) is back in the fourth installment, in an unexpected adventure to the “Fountain of Youth”. Joining him in the adventure are beautiful Angelica( Penelope Cruz) along with Hector Barbossa, Captain Teague and of course the entire bunch we see in the series.

Goodies: If I guess right, Half of the patrons of pirates have already lost the interest with the series while other half naturally jumps at every release. But trust me, “Stranger Tides” offers way much better than the preceding two parts. Uninvited joiners this time are mermaids, where a lengthy action sequence where mermaids attack the pirates is mind-blowing. Then we had a romance blossoming between a trapped mermaid and a captive. Johnny Depp with the growing ease provides us more fun with his silly antics.

Rating: 3/5 Pirate Lovers should never miss it!!

Badrinath Movie Review

Ufff….Finally we reached the end of summer spree of movies with Badrinath that released this weekend. Badrinath which has stylish star Allu Arjun and Tamanna in the leads, and being produced by successful banner of Geeta Arts (Allu Arvind) and equally successful director VVVinayak carried enough expectations. But sometimes expectations turn out to be bigger spoilsports. Let’s see how?

Plot: Badrinath is chosen as a guardian to protect Badrinath temple by an old saint warrior Bheeshma Narayan (Prakash Raj). Alakananda (Tamanna) who comes to the holy town Badrinath due to the threat from her maternal aunt falls in love with the hero. Now Badrinath has to choose between Alakananda’s love and his master’s faith on him?

Weakness List goes on!!

Let me list out the weaknesses of the cast and crew to explain what all went wrong…in a different style.

Ok....start with central character Badrinath. His weakness is his 10 Kilo sword he carries. When he holds that sword, he could easily pierce the bullets, cut off the limbs and arms of innumerous terrorists and factionists and even Chinese warriors. But don’t dare to make him devoid of it, for he jumps on mountains and into rivers now, flexing his muscles.

Then comes Alakananda…beware don’t ever pronounce “Badrinath” in front of her, for there is high chance she could go into an irrelevant dream sequence. So her duty is to either scream at her enemies or get into dancing, the moment someone reminds her of Badrinath or if she feels the touch of her love.

And we have PrakashRaj if I figured him out correctly as he is fully covered by very odd white beard. His weakness is Kungfu and he does nothing except calling Badrinath now and then asking him to do some samurai stunts with his sword

The villain Kelli Dorji has a weakness of Helicopters…as he is rarely seen coming out of it and his wife has weakness of madly shouting at him.

Similar weak are comedy gang, Brahmanandam, MS and Krishna Baghwan who play tasteless sequel track to the comedy they did in Indra. Raghubabu had some handful of witty dialogues.

Now coming to crew!!

Biggest culprit among the crew is Story-writer Chinni Krishna who gets inspired by his own films Narasimhanaidu and Gangotri and ofcourse recent Shakti and even Indra. May be one can figure it out the reason easily as he has now become “Genius” with his weakness for TV anchor Omkar.

Then we have Vinayak bitten by Kungfu bug and thus cook this no-where plot with Gunasekhar’s style of costly background and Meher’s style of heartless making.

Peter Heins had flying sickness I guess…as he never allowed our hero to be on the ground for the action sequences.

Allu Aravind’s weakness is his own success; he tasted with magnum-opus Magadheera. And he thus forcefully hands over the sword to his son and asks him to repeat the magic in an irrelevant plot set up in this contemporary period.

Film has its Strengths by the way…

Allu Arjun really rocked with his stunning dance moments almost in every song. And one should appreciate his hard work put into toning his body to suit the warrior role. And Gorgeous Tamanna entertains us to the core and seriously she is one damn reason for her admirers to look at the movie.

Music by Keeravani is good for couple of songs…And I really liked the picturaization of all the songs. “Omkareswara” is beautifully choreographed giving justice to its lyrics. “Nachuvaaraaa” is mouth watering rain song and “chiranjeeva chiranjeeva” pictured at lavish foreign locales. While “Ambadhari”,”Nath Nath” and “In the night” are shot indoor have rocking dance moments from Arjun.

I am sad and happy at the same time as my favorite number “Vasudhaara” is not used in the movie.

Art direction by Anand Sai and Cinematography of Ravi Varma offer grandeur and pleasantness. The sets are natural. Movie has some good Production values.

Finally I Conclude...

With nothing to offer with the story, Badrinath still can be watched at leisure for Allu Arjun and of course white beauty Tamanna. And for nice songs but alas they come hand in hand with annoying fights.

I give it 2.5/5. So Half century for good things I mentioned.

Salman's Ready Movie Review

Salman Khan, after shaking the box-office last Christmas with “Dabangg” is back again with his new movie “Ready”. Nowadays he’s more inclined towards the South Indian hits…and now “Ready” too is the remake of a Telugu film with the same title. Aneez Bazmi directs this flick, while Asin pairs with Salman.

Plot:

Prem(Salman), a happy-go-lucky guy falls for Sanjana(Asin) after few regular cat-mice fights between the couple. Sanjana is stuck between her greedy uncles who want her to marry their respective brother-in-laws to grab her property. How Prem manages to solve her problem by turning her uncle’s good with an intelligent game played with the help of Balidaan Bharadwaj(Paresh Rawal) is the entire movie about!

Sallu bhai Rocks…

Sallu goes with his lucky on-screen name “Prem Kapoor” and he’s got more time to romance his love and play around the house like in Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. He’s there in almost every scene, loud enough in his full form doing all sorts of nakras. It’s only Salman who can go to “Pee” on-screen and call“Pee-time” to declare the intermission, place his glasses to the back-collar to remind us of “Dabangg”…or not to say the least ..take off his shirt at the climax and ask the audience/Asin …”Mazaa ayaa kya..” and of course his repeating dialogue "Life mein kabhi teen cheese ko underestimate mat karna I, Me And Myself". That’s Salman for his fans, he who holds up the film firmly till the end-titles scroll.

What about others…

Asin obviously is not Madhuri of HAHK, but she does her best to match the Prem. With not much to play, she convincingly does her role.

Paresh Rawal does a decent job, if not dominated by Salman. Huge supporting cast comprising Mahesh Manjrekar, Paresh Rawal, Sharat Saxena, Akhilendra Mishra, Aarya Babbar, Puneet Issar, and Manoj Joshi did well too.

But seriously a good female casting is missing opposite them…Likes of Kiron Kher or Fareeda Jalal would have been effective…

Luckily audiences have an item number and a cameo by Zareen Khan. AjayDevgan, Sanjay dutt, Arbaaz khan and Kangana Ranauth make a brief appearance in the beginning. So don’t be late to theatres as they vanish within first 15 min!

Dhinka chaka ….Dhinka Chaka ..

Other cool stuff in the movie are the songs…”Dhink Chaka..Dhink chakaa” composed by Devi Sri Prasad, which topped chartbusters in last month is very good on-screen too. Then we have “Character Deela” with Salman dancing with his Katrina’s look alike Zareen Khan.”Humko Pyaar hua” is soothing one.Pritam composes them

Direction and Screenplay…

Director Aneez Bazmi deviates a bit in first half to suit Salman’s stature and age of course. That leaves few blind spaces in between and Love angle of the lead pair is not much established. He sticks to the original in second half mostly, tackles the huge cast efficiently without much confusion. He gives enough space to funny one-liners to rejoice the audience in frequent intervals. But he comes up with an idiotically extended climax far from the original. And Emotions take back seat which does some damage. So overall he scores just pass marks

Let’s compare with the original(This section for Telugu friends…)

“Ready” in Telugu has budding star Ram as hero. So it’s more of story that is aptly supported by the good cast. And ace comedian Brahmanandam who plays the crucial role lifts the original to the next level, similar role played by Paresh Rawal in Hindi version is not that great as Salman takes over all the control here. So among those who saw the original, only Salman fans would like this Hindi version. Zareen and Ajay plays the cameo played by Tamanna and Navdeep in original.

Final Say

Huge but not so attractive cast, lack of depth in emotions or love scenes, few dull moments will definitely drag it badly from it becoming other “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun”. Nevertheless it is Salman’s omnipresence and chartbuster tracks and decent storyline that will help it sail the Box-office safely.

I go with 3 stars…And Thanks to Salman’s craze post “Dabangg”, it will be a hit if not a block-buster.

Rangam Movie Review

Tamil block-buster movie “KO” is remade as “Rangam”. Rangam is directed by KV Anand, A cinematographer turned director, who proved his mettle with his previous film Ayan (remade as Veedokkade in Telugu). Rangam stars Jiiva and Karthika in lead roles.

Plot: Aswathama (Jiiva) is dashing and daring photographer, who risks his life many a times to expose the truth. He falls for his colleague, a dynamic reporter Renuka (Karthika). And there is budding youth leader Vasanth (Ajmal) who struggles hard to change the current system by winning the elections. These three has to fight against two larger force, the current chief minister (PrakashRaj) and opposition leader (Kota).

Who wins the elections? …And several interesting twists unfolds into a gripping saga altogether.

Actors:

Jiiva (s/o RB chowdary) looks cool and energetic. He plays his role to the core leaving no stone unturned. If he comes up with diverse roles in future and markets equally well in Telugu, he could easily expand his market here.

Karthika gets her first success in Kollywood after her debacle with Telugu “Josh”. I guess her different looks are yet to register with the audience. Plus point is she resembles her mother, Yesteryear actress Radha in many angles. She is good overall.

Ajmal who plays Vasant is excellent. He supports the proceedings very aptly and he is something to watch out. Piya Bajpai who plays another reporter is bubbly. This girl is cleverly used to fill in love triangle and fit in the twist in the second half.

PrakashRaj gets something great where he could just excel. He is awesome in subtle emotions. Kota Srinivasa Rao too plays his role perfectly.

Power packed screenplay and excellent direction!

Screenplay of the movie is perfectly written, where each scene one after other just builds up the expectations.

KV Anand who worked as cinematographer for movies like “Prema Desam” and “Sivaji” to name few does a great job. He balances the political drama and thrilling elements with sufficient commercial elements. He cleverly mixes a love/friendship angle and makes this film more youthful. And True facets of election campaign and interesting episode of youth joining politics should be admired. Don’t forget to watch his previous movie Veedokkade if you missed it.

Cinematography and Music rocks…

Harris Jairaj composes striking and melodious tunes and lifts the film to the next level. All songs are excellently shot. Especially the song “Nemali kulukula” and “Ee manchullo” captures superb locales in Norway. And look for guest appearances of Surya, Tamanna, Bharath, Abbas and many other popular stars in “Aga naga naga” song.

Richard M Nathan’s cinematography plays a major role in the songs and of course is top notch that makes the movie appealing all through.

Final Say:

Avidly supported by excellent technical team and awesome performances by youngsters and experienced actors, Rangam stands above all the movies released in recent past. KV Anand, the director makes a gripping and interesting story that appeal to all sections. KV Anand who worked as press photographer in the past surely makes them proud with this movie.

Nature with its fullest love welcomes you to have some unleashed fun every time…And for Hollywood, spring always brings some exciting movies that warms up and gears us for still bigger summer fun.

Check out some interesting stuff about three “too” good movies of this spring….

Thor

Marvel studios were successful in bringing their marvelous comics on to large screen and win the box-office every time…Unlike Marvel’s earlier fictional heroes Spiderman, Hulk, X-Men and Iron Man, Thor is a born hero. Thor is hammer-wielding God associated with thunder and lightning according to the Norse mythology. You know something; Thursday (Thor’s day) was derived from this mighty God.

Plot: Thor, to be crowned king of Asgard is a powerful and fearless but arrogant warrior. His arrogance reignites the ancient war between the Asgardians and their enemies Frost Giants. Thus Thor’s father Odin banishes him and throws his mighty weapon onto the earth. Thor’s evil brother Loki grabs this opportunity, joins hands with Frost giants to kill Thor.

Now Thor has to survive in USA as illegal alien. And on top of it, he has to save the mankind and his own kingdom from his evil-brother Loki. And thus he learns a lesson f his life as what makes a real hero.

What to look for: The movie comprises of wonderfully choreographed fight sequences, brilliantly dipped in spell-bound CG work. Awesome production design by Bo Welch (Men in Black2) gives the film, an elegant look. And Chris Hemsworth stands above all with the honest portrayal of mighty Thor. Overall slick look, good story and wonderful production values make it a delightful “3D” watch!!

Rio

Rio is creation of Fox movies, the creators of Ice Age trilogy.

Plot: Blu is domesticated little bird, who never learned to fly leads a comfortable life with his best friend and the owner Linda. Time comes when Blu has to travel to faraway land “Rio de Janerio” to join his only surviving female counterpart Jewel to save their breed. And thus adventure and fun unleashes the colorful landscapes of Brazil and gives way to a cute love story of little birds.

What to look for: The movie is true delight for kids. The plush landscapes of Brazil and the carnival event are well captured. Voice over given by Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg (Social Network) makes the romance appealing to adults as well. Lot of characters including fat Chicken, mischievous monkeys etc keep us engaged throughout.

Fast Five

This fifth installment of Fast and Furious series reunites the veterans from all the first four films of the series. They are headed by Dom (Vin-Diesel), the car-crazy thief. Special attraction to this flick is the addition of “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson who plays the undeterred cop Luke Hobbs. They had to accomplish their last job of looting the corrupt business man of Rio de Janerio in Brazil.

What to look for: This chick-flick which is absolutely story-less, but yet survives big with its breath-taking action sequences. This fifth installment gives you high-octane pleasures with more number of chases, fun filled races and leaves no dull moment. Adventure starts with nail-biting Train sequence and ends with a lengthy car chase that involves two cars pulling the bank locker tied to them. Action lovers should not afford to miss this one…

All three movies cater to three different sets of audience…and yet again have universal appeal…All three are good watch…Catch them for sure in nearest theatres!!

100% Love Review

Sukumar, one thing that strikes our mind whenever we hear this name is ”Aarya”, a truly different “one-sided love” story. Although he is 3 films old, Sukumar still shines in its glory. And now he comes back with “100% Love”. The movie stars young Yuvasamrat Akkineni Nagachaitanya and milky beauty Tamanna in the leads. Let’s check out how much percentage this mathematical love story scores?

Plot= (Balu +MahaLakshmi): Balu(Nagachaitanya) is highly intelligent and extraordinarily studious guy, who always scores first. But for the first time, he is beaten by his ‘maradalu’ MahaLakshmi, an equally confident and competent.

And movie is all about this couple who fight like Tom and Jerry every second…and who wins over whom is all about.

Actors –Mark List :

“Josh” boy Nagachaitanya grabbed the attention with Ye Maaya chesaave. His role in 100% Love is we can say a tailor made one, where his boyish looks and personality suits to the best. He is pretty good in lighter vein scenes, has good comedy timing…makes his mark in romantic scenes, of course, he is heir to the god of romance…Hmmm might need some more effort in dances. But ….but he still needs to go miles in emotional scenes, specially as he hails from akkineni family, he should take some classes from his grandpa. Overall scores first class.

White beauty Tamanna has come back to tinsel town after a long hiatus. Her role has the transformation from an innocent village girl to energetic gutsy lady, who challenges her “Baava”. She plays her role with much ease and confidence…But with that skin tone, she never looked as transformed as she always looks the same. She scores in distinction…

Tara Alisha has very small role to play and so is the guy who played Tamanna’s fiancé for a while. Naresh plays NC’s father. KR vijaya and Vijaykumar play prominent roles. All of them scores pass marks.

Dharmavarapu infuses some laughs…he just fails by 1 mark, due to his silly white wig.

Forgot to say..There are bunch of lovely kids…who contribute loads to film…let us give 100/100 to those cuties. MS Narayana and all the friends’ gang too score first class.

Sukumar ‘s Algebra

Sukumar can be called as trend-breaker rather than trend-setter. He no doubt thinks out of box and that’s why we look forward for his film even after his recent debacles. In 100% love, he focuses on childish egos of boy and girl carried in their college life. He brings out lot of fun that comes naturally out of silly tricks played by the lead pair. So the fun part that covers most of the film is dealt good enough. Sukumar, who is originally a math’s teacher comes up with lot of calculations this time comparing height,salary etc. But he misses the emotional feel towards the end…and his calculations divert the depth of the movie in climax.

First half and songs are big ++!!

First half is fun to watch…thanks to the cute kids…who make us laugh every minute. Silly fights by the lead pair to win over each other will entertain us.

Other striking thing of the movie is the songs. DeviSriprasad scores in rocking way for Sukumar, and this time he is equally supported by lyricists, Chandrabose(Infatuation & Dooram) and Shrimani(aho baalu). Lyrics are conceptual and good. Good graphic work in “aho baalu song” and of course how can one forget item song in Sukumar-Devi’s combination right from “aa ante amalapuram” to “Ringa Ringa”. This time it’s "Diyyala Diyyala" that gets big whistles from the crowd.

What’s minus!!

Second half takes a big break from the fun with ego-clashes and with entry of new girl and boy in both their lives. So there’s bit of dragging and confusion and thus less fun. Especially the last half an hour should have been dealt in serious way. It’s surprising to see very few well known actors.

Final score = (Nagachaitanya+Tamanna)2 * (Sukumar+DSP)2

The Love story that is based on a concept of “competition” between the lead pair is something fresh. Cute chemistry between the lead pair supported well by Sukumar’s trendy direction and DSP’s lovable music will make it a onetime watch. But movie strictly caters to a set of audience for it goes completely in mindset of college going youngsters.

Mr Perfect Movie Review

Prabhas is back with his third consequent summer film Mr.Perfect (after Billa and Darling). He pairs up with his lady luck Kajal and Chubby Tapaasi this time. Mr.Perfect is directed by Dasaradh who delivered a cool hit "Santosham" a decade back, while ace producer Dil Raju produces it.

Let’s see how perfect this flick is…

Plot (Not a Spoiler): Vikki (Prabhas), a video game designer strongly believes in just winning rather than sacrifice. Although good at heart, He has that “don’t care attitude” when it comes to fight for his belief’s. Now he has to decide between two girls of his life.

First among them is sweet girl Priya (Kajal), Doctor by profession who loves her cute world in her small village but she loves to change her ways for her love. Then it is vivacious Bhuvana (Taapsi) who exactly thinks like Vikki with perfectly matching attitude.

Performances…

Prabhas stepped into a slightly different zone with “Darling”, may be to get that family boy tag just like what Venkatesh did in past. And now he looks more comfortable in “Mr.Perfect”, he understands that subtlety and performs way better. He looks cool throughout thanks to styling. His improved diction needs a big applause especially in the climax scene. Simply saying, He stands apt to the title…

Kajal…Gorgeous might be a routine word to use, but no second thought for she looks stunningly beautiful in this movie. She steals our hearts with honest portrayal of Priya. And her chemistry with Prabhas just enhances her presence. Kajal should seriously look forward to endorse few saree brands

Taapsi is good choice for the bubbly role of Bhuvana. One could see the improvement in her acting abilities though there’s long way to go. She has dubbed for herself for the first time, and thus she scores some brownie points there.

Viswanath, PrakashRaj, Nazer, Shiyaji Shindey and Murali Mohan did their good in rendering some lengthy dialogues, which are fine at most of the times. Brahmanandam, Raghubabu and Bharath tried their best to make us laugh and let’s give them some pass marks for it.

Both the halves are perfect…

First half dedicates enough screen space and setting, for cute romance to blossom between the lead pair. Village atmosphere with refreshing lavish green fields, pleasant ponds and natural beauty in full swing visually entices us. With songs that are purely situational and awesome chemistry of Prabhas and Kajal, this half moves very smoothly to bring us to the slightly conflicting (of course predictable) interval block.

Second half introduces Taapsi and brings the audience back to the foreign locales. Director comes up with yet another family setting here too and spares some time to build up another new plot here. With the presence of biggies like PrakashRaj and viswanath, this half has plenty of emotions and some nicely crafted moments to satisfy the audience. The way the director unites two different plots and driving us to climax is interesting part.

Both the halves are good in their own way.

Technical Departments

Vijay K Chakravarthy, who worked for Orange, Bommarillu etc does superb job here. Every frame looks crystal clear. I loved the “Aakasam Baddaliana" song and Also an introduction fight of Prabhas in swimming pool. As expected, DeviSriPrasad’s compositions look good on screen rather than just the audio. Background score is also perfectly fine.

Dasaradh, who gave us Santosham in the past, almost tries his best in ‘Mr. Perfect’. The basic theme that says “It’s not either hobbies or tastes that make a marriage successful, but it’s all in sacrificing for our love” is convincingly delivered. Abburi Ravi comes up with adequate dialogues and frequent sparks.

What’s Imperfect?

Yes, we might feel the references from Orange (Heroes characterization) and Bommarillu (setting in second half and climax), but what makes difference is Screenplay by Hari which flows smoothly and glues the audience till the end, though what we see is partly predictable. So Mr.Perfect is not completely perfect in a way it borrows the style and many scenes from many movies of past. And way the emotions are built up looks artificial at times especially in the climax where everyone one after the other, lifts the hero saying “Nee Valle…nee valle”.

And if you notice in second half, few scenes are canned away with background wallpaper may be to limit the budget in bringing all the people overseas.

Final Say….

Perfect chemistry of Prabhas-Kajal-Taapsi and presence of huge supporting cast and absolutely perfect cinematography that makes every frame look rich, outwits the minor flaws and loopholes. One thing for sure is Mr.Perfect will definitely have some cheers on your faces while we leave the theatre for its positive feel and is obviously one big choice for it being super clean and green film with zero vulgarity. Like Prabhas learns to sacrifice towards the end, audiences have to sacrifice the novelty factor.

3.25/5 I don’t mind giving a quarter more for it is really feel good film of this summer. Go watch it if you are looking for decent entertainer.
