Hi guys,

It's been two mounths since I have posted something.
I have been quite busy actually, but I did not stop playing or judging.

I have been Head Judge at YCS Lille (making my 7th European YCS as a judge!), and will be in Francfurt to judge for the 3rd time an European Championship.

But, I don't have time to update the blog with interesting stuff.

I won't delete it, just in case.
So maybe in the future if I manage to find the time, I'll continue writing.

But until then,

Hello everyone,

Sunday 17th of April, in Paris, OTK Expert (a french magazine) and Strataegyc (a french association) organized a tournament where 120 players tried to win 3 booster boxes of Cosmos Blazer, (and if you could reach the top 8, you already won 1 display.)

After 7 rounds and a top 16, the two finalist decided to split the prices, making them go home with 2,5 booster boxes of Cosmo Blazer each.

Censorship - Cosmo Blazer

Hi,

Today, I'm gonna show you what cards from the latest booster set has been censored.
Each time a new set comes from the OCG to the TCG, some cards get censored, either because the card shows too much nudity, too much violence, or simply seems too religious.

So here what's been censored in Cosmo Blazer :

CBLZ-EN008 Gagaga Clerk

As you can see, her stockings have been changed, so she can appear less sexy.

CBLZ-EN032 Mermail Abyssdine

Just as the other Mermail monsters from Abyss Rising, her waist armor has been "completed".

Continuing the war against nudity, the TCG guys extended her outfit, to cover her waist and breast more.

Tournament - Strataegyc - Road to Bochum

Hello everyone,

I live near Paris in France, and I was wondering if some news about my country would interest some of my readers.
From now, I will try to post tournaments result to show what's hot in Paris.

Sunday February 3rd they were a tourney in Paris, organized by Strataegyc.

Strataegyc is a association which organize tournaments of Pokemon, Magic the Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! in Paris, in the local of Epita situated 14 rue de Voltaire 94276 Kremlin Bicêtre.

The point of this tourney is to offer to the winner the amount of 150€ to help him finance his trip to the next YCS (Miami or Bochum),but not in cash of course.

They were 65 players who battle in 6 rounds to know who will fight in the top 8 to try to win the 150€.

The winner were Vincent Ralambomiadana, and he piloted the deck Macro Rabbit while the others of the Top 8 played Mermail, Wind-Up or Fire Fist.

In the Top 8 they were 1 Fire Fist, 1 Macro Rabbit, 3 Mermail and 3 Wind-Up.

Old Synchros are getting better!!

Do you remember the synchro era? Of course you do. Some synchro monsters are still used these days.

But do you remember those ones ?

Recently ,OCG released some better version of those monster.
If you didn't saw them before, let me introduce to you Fairy Dragon - Ancient, Power Tool Mecha Dragon, and Flashing Carat Dragon - Stardust!!

YCS Barcelona Report By Nicolas P.

Hi everybody this is my first Report on Elbrarian's Infos my name is Nicolas Pirasteh I'm going present my experience from this YCS.

The YCS Barcelona has assembled more than 800 players came from the world but a major part of Europe.

I left France in the company of three other friends to arrive on friday and enjoy the first day to the tracking and retrieve some cards that I missed for my deck.

The tournament lasted 2 days, saturday and sunday, with 7 rounds first day and 3 rounds sunday to finish with a Top 32.

I played Geartown Malefic Drain

Deck Analyse by Konami : DECKLIST HERE !!!

DAY 1:

Round 1 against Chain Burn:

My oppenent started the duel with 5 Spell/Trap in her Backrow,

During my turn I activated Pot Of Duality and I took Eradicator Epidemic Virus, and later I activated it by tributing Fusiler Dragon. He called the judge and the first judge says "You can't tribute Fusiler Dragon in face down position" so I called the Head Judge and he checked the rulling on Internet and he said I can, Trap cards are destroyed and I win the first game. (The Judge forgot to get us 10 minutes for Extra Time).

The second duel is for my oppenent but I know my oppenent is very bad because he activated One Day of Peace and in my Battle phase I go on declaration attack with my monster and he discarding Swift Scarecrow -_-'.

The third match I was going first and I started with Eradicator Virus and Fusiler I set both,

my opponent set 5 card in her Backrow and in End TurnI activated EEV and called Trap Cards. Everything is destroyed except 1 Scapegoat 1 Chain Burn and 1 Swift Scarecrow, Time Out is announced,

one more time my oppenent make a chain link for Chain Burn and inflict to me 400 LP and win in Time.

I'm furious for loosing the first round against Chain Burn

Rounds 2 against Ninja Mist Valley

I won the match easily when my opponent activated Solemn Judgment on Geartown !

Rounds 3 against Agent Fairy

A big rush with Gadjiltron and Limiter Removal for win.

The second match my opponent summoned Earth and add Venus so in my turn I summoned Jurrac Guaiba and attack Earth, another Guaiba is special summoned and Xyz summon for Laggia set 3 Spell or Trap and activate Geartown and summon Malefic Stardust in Main Phase 2.

I was waiting if my oppenent activate Venus for Shining Ball for make my DDV but it set just 1 monster and pass.

In my turn I draw Cyber End Malefic, I thought 1 minute before entering in the action, I activated my DDV with Stardust and Snowman Eater set is destroyed in my oppenent field I looked his hand and saw he hadn't Tragoedia/Gorz, I summoned Cyber End just after this for enter in Battle and attack at 4000 lp and chain Mystical Space Typhoon set on Geartown for destroy my Cyber End and summon 1 Gadjiltron attack again with this and with Laggia for game.

Rounds 4 against Mermail

Dimensionnal Fissure in Main Deck is too awesome.

The Second match my oppenent open the game with Genex Undine but in my turn I siding Royal Tribute and Guaiba for easy game.

Rounds 5 againts Agent Fairy

Skill Drain is so good against Agent.

The Second match lasted a long time and he won.

The last match I lost in Time Out yet.

Rounds 6 against Agent Fairy

I going first I summon Cardcar D set 3 in Backrow activate CCD draw 2, and 2-3 turn after I win with Necrovalley, Skill Drain and Cyber End.

Royal Tribute for game.

Rounds 7 against Nordic

I'm suprised to see the Nordic deck in 4 win 2 loose but I win with Drain and DDV.

End of Day 1 my score is 5-2 (loose twice in Time Out :/) I can't loose a game Day 2 for going to the Top 32.

DAY 2

Rounds 8 against Wind-Up

Magician/Shark is most best move for most skilled player.

Set DDV and Full House when my opponent had set 3 and use Factory with Wind-Up Rabbit in and End Phase so I cleaned all the Field and Hand for win.

He start with Thunder King and finish with Shock Master.

My YCS Barcelona Report

Hello everyone,

I went to YCS Barcelona, for playing this time. I didn't judge because I wasn't selected, and it was the first time out of 9, simply because no one can be selected everytime. ^^

So I went with others french players, and I really had a great weekend, thanks to them.

I decided to play Dino Rabbit, with Macro Cosmos in it of course.
There is what I played:

Next is how my tournament went :
I lost the first round to Geargia (Machina), after that I won versus a guy with a weird deck, I saw only two monsters in his deck : Shining Angel and Cyber Dragon Zwei.

Following this, I won against a Six Samurai (2-0) where I didn't draw my one Kinetic Soldier, but still manage to overcome a start of his field made of Grandmaster, Zanji, Kizan, Kizan and Gateway. (without Dark Hole)
Then I beat a Mermail (2-0), with my first-game hand being Kabazault, Kabazault, Sabersaurus, Sabersaurus, Typhoon and Judgment.
In round 5, I lost in a mirror match. and a finish the day winning my other matches, making a 5-2 record, and qualified for day 2.
I wasn't desapointed, since it was my first ever YCS participation, even know I had small chances to make it to the Top 32, and I was sure that my luck couldn't get me any further in the tournament.

As I predicted, I didn't made it to the Top 32, but still manage to finish the main event with a 7-3 record.

After the event, I will make some changes in my deck, like replacing Abyss Dweller by Utopia and add Torrenial Tribute, and maybe main deck Spirit Reaper like I wanted to do before saturday morning.

3 friends of mine from Paris managed to top, Leeroy Bitbol, Noël Garde (YCS Milan Finalist) and Sebastien Ma (French National Champion 2012), but sadly they were all defeated in the top 32.

Things I liked during the tournament :
- People from the USA made the trip to Barcelona
- More participants than YCS Tacoma/Seattle (802-756)
- Coming across a player from the USA who trade me his Lavalval Chain.
- KDE which had a sound effect for the end of rounds. (Not as loud as YCS Sheffield, but still awesome)
- Faced no opponents who cheated, or maybe I didn't saw anything.
- Had only three times called a judge. (for translations and confirmation on stuff when my opponents weren't sure) So no real issues.
- Faced 0 french players
- Nicolas did a deck profile for the coverage site

I will apply for judging at YCS Bochum.
So I may be there.

Mermail

A while ago, I did an article about Inzektor, and I was pretty proud of it. So I will try to do the same about another archetype : Mermail & Atlantean.
I'm not gonna talk about every single cards that countains those archetypes, but just about the deck which gathers the two.
They both came around the same moment in Yu-Gi-Oh! history and they were destined to work together.

The two families are WATER-Attribut and Sea Serpent-Type monsters (Sea Serpent for the most part). Other cards that already existed before can support those type of monsters.

One of the card that works best with Sea Serpent is Deep Sea Diva.

Deep Sea Diva
WATER/Sea Serpent/Level 2/Tuner/ATK 200/DEF 400
Effect : When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 3 or lower Sea Serpent-Type monster from your Deck.

Diva can special summon a copy of herself and help summoning a Xyz monsters like Daigusto Phoenix or Gachi Gachi Gantetsu.

Or summon another non-tuner Sea Serpent to summon a Synchro monster like Armory Arm, T.G. Hyper Librarian or Ally of justice Catastor.

In Return of the Duelist, there were a new "achetype" which came out. The Elemetal Lord. The first one is Grandsoil, and he was made to fit any Earth-attribut based deck. And in Abyss Rising, a set based on Water monsters, there is Moulinglacia.

Moulingacia the Elemental Lord
WATER/Sea Serpent/Level 8/ATK 2800/DEF 2200
Effect : Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by having exactly 5 WATER monsters in your Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. When this card is Special Summoned: Discard 2 random cards from your opponent's hand (or their entire hand, if less than 2). You can only use the effect of "Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord" once per turn. If this card leaves the field, skip the Battle Phase of your next turn.

Moulinglacia is, as some like to call them, a "boss monster".
When Moulinglacia is summoned, he can do what Delinquent Duo can do, discard up to two cards your opponent have in hand, meaning that if the summon is sucessful (I imply if the summon is not negated by cards like Thunder King Rai-Oh, Solemn Judgment or Solemn Warning) he can generates an instant +2 card advantage.
When Moulinglacia leaves the field, your next Battle Phase is skipped, but this effect isn't a Trigger effect, so cards like Soul Drain won't negate it.
And it's not a Continuous effect neither, so Skill Drain won't do anything either.

The Water monsters usually seen by players before, were Frogs. This archetype rely on the graveyard presence of their own monsters. Treeborn Frog can relieve itself from grave, and Subsitoad too, by bannishing from grave a Frog monster. And in order to fill the graveyard with those frogs, a card from another family came in the mix : Genex Undine.

Genex Undine
WATER/Aqua/Level 3/ATK 1200/ DEF 600
Effect : When this card is Normal Summoned, you can send 1 WATER monster from your Deck to your Graveyard to add 1 "Genex Controller" from your Deck to your hand.

Genex Undine is a very usefull card, because sending a Water monster in the graveyard is cost of its effect, therefore, if your opponent have Skill Drain on the field or use Effect Veiler on Undine, the Water monster still goes from the deck to the grave.
By sending a Water monster in the grave, Undine can search for this dude.

At first sight he can look pretty useless, but in reality, he really is.
No, I'm kidding. He is not as good-for-nothing as he looks.
He is a Level 3 Tuner, so he provides access to Synchro summoning. And he is Dark, so you can ditch him with Allure of Darkness.
Since Undine gives you Genex Controller for free, you can discard him for any cost. And he lets you have a "big hand" to power-up Tragoedia.

And now, let's get down to it, let's talk about the real monsters of the deck "Mermail" or "Mer-tlean" or "Mermantean" or whatever you people like to call it.

First, the deck is usually called Mermail because, in most of the current builds of the deck, there is more Mermail cards than Atlantean cards. And also, the Mermail cards cost more money. ^^

In the left, we have Atlantean Heavy Infantry, at the top we have Atlantean Dragoons and in the right we have Atlantean Marksman.
You can grab the three of them in a Structure Deck: Realm of the Sea Emperor.

All three are Sea Serpents, but only Heavy Infantry and Marksman (left and right) can be special summoned from the deck by Deep Sea Diva.

Atlantean Heavy Infantry
WATER/Sea Serpent/Level 2/ATK 0/DEF 1600
Effect : During your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon a Level 4 or lower Sea Serpent-Type monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) When this card is sent to the Graveyard to activate a WATER monster's effect: Target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; destroy that target.

The first (continuous) effect allows you to extra normal summon, which can lead to mutliple possibilities. You can summon another level 2 monster and perform a Xyz summon, you can summon Genex Controller and Synchro summon a monster. You can extra normal summon Diva, which will trigger her effect and summon a third monster from the deck and then Synchro summon a stronger monster.

Atlantean Marksman
WATER/Sea Serpent/Level 3/ATK 1400/DEF 0
Effect : When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Sea Serpent-Type "Atlantean" monster, except "Atlantean Marksman", from your Deck. When this card is sent to the Graveyard to activate a WATER monster's effect: Target 1 Set card your opponent controls; destroy that target.

Well, there is nothing to add here... at least on his first effect. ^^

Atlantean Dragoons
WATER/Sea Serpent/Level 4/ATK 1800/DEF 0
Effect : All face-up Level 3 or lower Sea Serpent-Type monsters you control can attack your opponent directly. When this card is sent to the Graveyard to activate a WATER monster's effect: Add 1 Sea Serpent-Type monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Atlantean Dragoons".

Dragoons lets your level 3 or lower Sea Serpent attack directly, making easier for Marksman to deal dammages and trigger his effect.
And it's still useful when your opponent have a strong monster on his field and not much of life points left, because all you need is Dragoons and a strong enought Level 3 or lower Sea Serpent monster on the field to win.

All three of the Atlantean have an effect when there are sent to the graveyard as costs for Water-Attribut monsters effects. Dragoons can search the deck for reinforcements, and the other two can destroy either face-up (Heavy Infantry) or face-down (Marksman) cards your opponent controls. But in order to destroy the card, Heavy Infantry needs the cards to remains face-up to destroy it, and Marksman also need the cards to remain face-down to destroy it when his effect resolves.

Their effect triggers after being use as costs for Water monster effects, which means, after the current chains (in which the initial Water monster effect is in) resolves, they will start a new chain on their own with their effects.
If two Marksman are send in the same time in the graveyard as cost, the two will activate, one as Block Chain 1 and the other as Block Chain 2, letting the Block Chain 3 free to your opponent's response, if any.
Of course the same goes if your have a Dragoons and a Heavy Infantry, or 2 Dragoons, and so forth, they will form a chain on their own after the current chain resolves, and the choice of which one goes as Block Chain 1 or 2 goes to the owner of the cards, the Mermail player.

And also, being sent to grave as a cost for a Water-attribut monster includes being discarded from the hand, being tributed, being sent from the deck to the graveyard, or being detach from a (Water) Xyz monster.
Therefore, Atlantean Marksman, Heavy Infantry an Dragoons will trigger their effect if being buried by the effect of Genex Undine, Abyss Soldier, Mermail Abyssmegalo or Number 17: Leviathan Dragon.

Knowing this, Genex Undine can be kind of broken isn't she?
Genex Undine can either destroy a card, or search, in addition to Genex Controller, any Sea Serpent in the deck, including any other Atlantean, Diva, some Mermail, or even the almighty Moulinglacia.

And now, the Mermail cards. Because the deck won't be called this way if they weren't any. ^^

Mermail Abysspike
WATER/Fish/Level 4/ATK1600/DEF 800
Effect : When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can discard 1 WATER monster to the Graveyard; add 1 Level 3 WATER monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use effect of "Mermail Abysspike" once per turn.

Mermail Abysslinde
WATER/Aqua/Level 3/ATK 1500/DEF 1200
Effect : If this card on the field is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Mermail" monster from your Deck, except "Mermail Abysslinde". You can only use the effect of "Mermail Abysslinde" once per turn.

Be careful on the fact that Abysslinde and Abysspike are not Sea Serpent-type monsters, so you can't search for them woth the effect of Atlantean Dragoons or summon them with Diva.

And also, the effect of Abysslinde can be activated only once per turn. If you destroy Abysslinde, and your opponent acivates Abyss-Sphere to summon another one, and the second Abysslinde is destroyed, she will not trigger her effect.

Mermail Abyssmegalo
WATER/Sea Serpent/Level 7/ATK 2400/DEF 1900
Effect : You can discard 2 other WATER monsters to the Graveyard; Special Summon this card from your hand. When you do: You can add 1 "Abyss-" Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand. You can Tribute 1 other face-up Attack Position WATER monster; this card can make a second attack during each Battle Phase this turn.

The first effect of Abyssmegalo is a ignition effect and sending two Water monster in the graveyard is a cost to activate the effect. To make things clear, the special of Abyssmegalo cannot been gated by Steelswarm Roach, Thunder King Rai-Oh or Solemn Judgment, you can chain Maxx "C" to the effect of Abyssmegalo to draw a card and if you discard Atlentean monsters to summon Abyssmegalo, after the first chain resolves (the chain where Abyssmegalo is in block chain 1) a new chain afterwards will start with :
Block Chain 1 - Atlantean monster'seffect
Block Chain 2 - Atlantean monster's effect
Block Chain 3 - Mermail Abyssmegalo's effect "When you do: You can..."

Abyss-Sphere
Continuous Trap
Special Summon 1 "Mermail" monster from your Deck. Its effects are negated. You cannot activate any Spell Cards. When this card leaves the field, destroy that monster. Destroy this card during your opponent's next End Phase after activation.

If you activate Abyss-sphere during your oponents's turn, the Mermail monster you summon with it will be destroyed at the end of your opponent's turn, but in order to still get something out of it you can special summon Abysslinde, this way at the end phase you will trigger her effect.

If you are in your opponent's turn, and before it ends you want to activate Abyss-Sphere to let Abysslinde die and summon some other Mermail from the deck, you will need to do it before the actual End Phase, because if you do activate Sphere during your opponent's End Phase, Abysslinde won't get destroyed during that End Phase, but during your opponent next one.

As you figured, what the Extra deck contains can be crucial for this deck, so having the right monster in it is important.
The extra deck can run the generic Xyx and Synchro monsters like T.G. Hyper Librarian, Wind-Up Zenmaines, Stardust Dragon, Leviair the Sea Dragon, Black Rose Dragon, Mist Wurm, Scrap Dragon, just to name a few other than the ones showed above.
But can also run cards like Abyss Dweller, Number 11: Big Eye, Dewloren, Tiger King of the Ice Barrier, or Gungnir, Last Dragon of the Ice Barrier.

For those who don't understand why Big Eye can be played, it's because most players play Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness and Tragoedia for protection in there Mermail deck, which also add Dark monsters for Allure of Darkness. (And Abyssmegalo is level 7)

Since Abyssmegalo and Abysspike discard you from Water monsters and Undine send them to graveyard directly from the deck, the grave is quickly full of Water monsters. And you can take some back to hand with Salvage.

Spiritual Water Art - Aoi is a very strong card. it allows you to look at your opponent's hand and dicard one card, by tributing a Water monster.

The most common way to use it is, in your first turn, when you summon Undine, search for Controller by sending Dragoons, then search for Dragoon's effect. and just set Aoi. That way, you can get full advantage of Undine.

When your opponent activate cards like Dark Hole, Torrential Tribute or Mirror Force, you can chain Aoi and tribute the monster that would be destroyed by those cards.

Because Aoi needs to tribute a Water monster, you automaticaly loose 2 cards (Aoi itself and the tributed water monster) and your opponent loose only 1 (from his hand) so you will need to find a way to use Aoi in a non-costly way.

This deck is obviously strong, but it still have weaknesses.
The deck Dino Rabbit can use Jurrac Guaiba and Macro Cosmos, both devastating cards for Mermails.

Guaiba can kill by battle most monsters in the deck, then summon another copy of himself and perform a Xyz summon of Evolzar Dolkka or Evolzar Laggia.

Macro Cosmos on the other hand prevent you from sending cards to the grave, by banishing them instead. Meaning Undine, Abysspike or Abyssmegalo cannot activate their effect because you cannot send cards to the grave, Abysslinde won't go to grave, so you won't gets her effect either.

Soul Drain and Abyss Dweller have similar abilities, monsters that are in the graveyard cannot activate their effect.
But if an effect is activated in the graveyard, it's too late for activating the effect of Dweller or Soul Drain, because the effect is already activated, and both cards don't negate effect activations, they just prevent them from happening.

Thunder King Rai-Oh cannot negate the summon of Abyssmegalo, but he still can negate the summon of Moulinglacia and the Synchro and Xyz summons (except if there is also Macro Cosmos on the field).
You can destroy him with effect of Heavy Infantry.
Dragoons and Genex Undine cannot activates their searching effect, and with Undine out of the equation, there is one less way to trigger Heavy Infantry's effect to destroy the King of Thunder.

Don't hesitate to watch previous premier events results and decklist, like YCS's, to see how many copies of each card you should put in your Mermail deck.

The OCG artworks shows Mermail Abysslinde gasping for air, with her open mouth letting go the last bubble of oxygen, and with her hand around her throat showing she's suffocating.
And in the TCG artwork, she's just making a sad face. No more distress or agony to see here.

All About Cheating Part 1

Today i would like share with you the big recurent sujet at Yu-Gi-Oh ... The Cheating !!

Cheating is an unfortunate part of any game that has ever come into existence, and it only gets worse when there are prizes involved or a reward of any kind for winning.

This problem is especially rampant in the world of trading card games, like the Yu-Gi-Oh. There are all kinds of cheaters in the world of Yu-Gi-Oh, but there are ways to spot, stop and prevent these kinds of problems from occurring.

This article is intended to help honest players, not to give ideas to those who are dishonest and looking for an easy win, so here are some of the top ways to prevent cheating.

Top decking - This kind of cheating is done when a player rigs his or her deck so that a certain card shows up in their first hand. This can a dangerous cheat because there's more than one way to achieve a one turn victory in Yu-Gi-Oh. Common cards that players will top deck include anything that will enhance their remaining draws, or cards that will clear the field in a single turn like Torrential Tribute, Heavy Storm and Dark Hole, or Mirror Force. Top decking can also set an opponent up so that they will have an almost unstoppable chain of cards that will lead one move into another, giving them and clear path for the win.

Exemple (one) here with this video:
Imagine if i have Sangan destroyed by battle (i playing Rock-Stunt"Anti-Meta")

Step 1: I take my deck and take my Block Golem.
Step 2: For the next turn i know i want have Heavy Storm
Step 3: Heavy Storm going on the top of the deck immediatly after adding Block Golem
Step 4: The shuffling is a illusion and the cut shuffle is fake

If you forget to make a Final Cut, it will be fatal for you.

Step 5: It's my turn, and i draw ... oh ! nice i'm so lucky Heavy Storm is top deck !!

Prevention - The only way to prevent top decking is to cut your opponents deck before a duel. Another good prevention technique is to know who you are facing in a Yu-Gi-Oh event. Check online sites where duelists chat about upcoming events, and see who is planning to attend, and then look at their background information. Do other duelists think this player is an honest duelist, or are they known for certain underhanded dealing? Many times cheaters stick together and become well known for their dishonest Yu-Gi-Oh play style, so they are blacklisted, so to speak. If you can be aware of these players, then alert a judge to watch your match, so everything is fair and balanced. But keep in mind that the judge won't watch your entire match, because he has other things to do.
Card Switch - This is a move that can be pulled off by any Yu-Gi-Oh duelist with fast hands. Like a magician says "the hand is quicker than the eye" and in many cases this is true. Players who use the card switch will rotate the cards in the hand quickly, and in some cases exchange a card in their hand for the top card of their deck. Also watch for players who pick up the top two cards of their deck and then select one of those to draw into their hand. The advantage to this kind of Yu-Gi-Oh cheat is that it thins the deck or allows a player drawing options, which of course alters the outcome of any Yu-Gi-Oh duel.

Spotting - Be on the lookout for anyone who seems nervous of jumpy with the cards in their hand, and watch their deck closely. Also look at the way an opponent draws their cards, usually if you're looking for something specific, like a player picking up more than one card at a time, you'll be able to catch on. Be alert at all times.
Stopping - The only way to stop this kind of cheater is to call them out on their cheating scheme. When you suspect this kind of behavior call an official Yu-Gi-Oh judge to your table and alert them to the problem. Of course the cheater will deny your claims, they always do and always will, but a judge will watch the game and make sure fair play is enforced. This is the only fair way to stop Card Swappers.

It's almost impossible to spot top decking, unless you're present when your opponent shuffles. Most of the time a Yu-Gi-Oh duelist will shuffle their deck out of habit while seated waiting for a match to begin. Make sure you observe your opponent shuffling, because otherwise they may be top decking a card.

Exemple (2):
Here i would like to show when you oppenent shuffle your deck if you not concentrate or if you occupate when you write the life Points or when you see the duel beside you after touching your deck.

Step 1: I am taking your deck and if i can, i'm showing the bottom of your deck and see all the bad card (for the moment or Dead-Card).
In this video when i'm taking the deck, you can see it's full Spell or Trap card (don't forget i play Anti-Meta)

Step 2: I'm shuffling your deck
Step 3: After you draw all the Dead-card (Full monster in start hand)

Preventing - The best way to prevent this from happening is to just stay alert and pay attention. If a player is jumpy with the cards politely ask them to stop because their actions are distracting. This will get you into a position to see if you're dealing with a cheater or a nervous duelist. If they fight you on your request then you know something is fishy and you should immediately call a judge. Also if you notice your opponent pulling off a lot of "Yugi" moments, like getting the exact card they need at the right time, be aware that they might be card swapping.

On looking - This is done when a player has a group of friends gather around your table to watch your match. In many cases this is a planned maneuver so that your opponent can get an idea of what cards you have, and what traps you have on the field. Just like Pegasus in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime this gives your opponent the advantage of knowing every card you have, draw, and play.
This may be one of the easiest cheats to spot, just look for a crowd of people watching your match. Many times during large events spectators are common, but you'll be able to notice a group of people who interact with your opponent more so then your common Yu-Gi-Oh onlooker. Just be aware of the crowd watching your match and look for anything suspicious.

Stopping - When you suspect that your opponent has an entourage looking at your cards and relaying information to them just ask them nicely to leave. If anyone gets defensive, or aggressive then you know something is not right. Most Yu-Gi-Oh players respect their fellow duelist and will comply with such a simple request. If a problem does occur then just call a judge to spot your match.
Preventing - The only way to prevent this from happening is to monitor the crowd around you, and to conceal your hand from everyone. Always assume that another duelist can see your hand unless it's totally concealed. This is important to practice in any situation, because hand concealment can be a big key in making sure that a duel is completely fair, and that no information gets to your opponent that shouldn't.
The easiest way to stop a person top decking a card is to make sure their deck is shuffled. When you sit down to begin a Yu-Gi-Oh duel make sure you cut your opponents deck, or better yet pick it up and shuffle the entire deck as if it were your own. This will ensure that any cards strategically place in the deck are shuffled and cut fairly. Also keep a close eye on your opponent's draws, and be aware of how many cards they have in their hand to be sure that nothing abnormal goes on.

It's my last video for this Part 1.
On this video you can see, when i shuffle my deck (this shuffle is the pile-Shuffle)

Step 1: I take my deck for select 6 cards, i think is my best start hand (Morphing Jar, Solemn Warning, Solemn Judgment, Monster Reborn, Starlight Road and Pot Of Duality).

Step 2: I place my Best Start Hand (BSH) on the top and i make 6 piles i complete it with the rest.
Step 3: I replace the rest in the same orders.
Step 4: I shuffling the deck for giving more credibility without touch the top (BSH is here).
Step 5: Drawing moment.

Regional season is here and many tournaments are being held around the country and even the world. These tournaments can earn Yu-Gi-Oh duelist a spot in the world's competition and many times have Card Prize or High-Tech product (Ipad, Ipod, Computer ...) as rewards for winning, so you can be sure that cheaters will show themselves at these events. Just be prepared, be cautious and be alert. By knowing the different kinds of cheaters out there, and by being informed about their practices, you can be sure that every match you enter into will be safe, fair, and well played.

We'll start today with a first arcticle on deck GEARGIA.

Geargia Origin's:

Geargia is the new archetype of the new set "Return Of The Duelist" which came out around the end of 2012.

It's the direct rival of Madolce deck, Chronomaly, Spellbook and Heroic, released in the same extension.
But since it is the only of the above archetype which made an impact on the curent format (in big event like YCS Indianapolis) I'm gonna describe Geargia a little for you.

Who are they to you ?:

Geargiarsenal

EARTH / Machine / LEVEL 4/1500/500

Effect: This card gains 200 ATK for each face-up "Geargia" monster you control.

You can Tribute this card, Special Summon 1 "Geargia" monster from your

Deck in face-up Defense Position, except "Geargiarsenal."

First impression: It's the only monster in the family to have a fairly consistent ATK,

but also its effect being Lonefire Blossom-like makes it really strong.

Geargiarmor

EARTH / Machine / LEVEL 4/1100/1900

Effect: Once per turn: You can change this card to face-down Defense Position.

When this card is flipped face-up: You can add 1 "Geargia" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Geargiarmor."

First impression: because of him it's the best defense, it allows you to retrieve any of the brothers from the deck gives stability is crucial.

Geargiaccelerator

EARTH / Machine / LEVEL 4/1400/800

Effect: If you control a "Geargia" monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) in face-up Defense Position.

When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can add 1 "Geargia" monster from your Graveyard to your hand, except "Geargiaccelerator."

First impression: The youngest of the family allows him to recover from the cemetery

Gear Gigant X

EARTH / Machine / RANK 4/2300/1500

XYZ MONSTER - 2 Level 4 Machine-Type Monsters

Effect: Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; add 1 Level 4 or lower Machine-Type monster from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand.

When this card leaves the field: You can target 1 Level 3 or lower "Geargia" monster in your Graveyard, Special Summon That target.

First impressiont: Dad of this deck, it gives a balance rarely seen since Zenmaity Carrier.

it can search famous card like Cardcar D or Card Trooper.

How To Play:

For me the best way to play the deck and pair it with Machina but you can play it with Karakuri or various deck machine.

Must be a maximum of CA (Card Advantage) with effects and Geargiarmor and Gearframe Mechabot (the two recovered thanks Gigant Gear X).

The strike force is the summon of Machina Fortress and XYZ summon and have a pretty good ease of invocation and makes them formidable.

The thing most simple and aggressive is, flip summon Geargiamor, take Geargiaccelerator from the deck use it's ability to special summon defense, make a XYZ summon through 2, made for the effect still recovering from the deck except that you will take Gearframe and normally summon and again the effect and take the Fortress or Canon.

The combos are innumerable, made walking playtest your brain with your friends and you discover things implement a tournament to give you a definite advantage in Rounds !

The cons:

There are some cards that can counter the strategy of the deck !

Thunder King Rai-Oh: Is one of the best options to prevent it literally made of searching from the deck a real scourge for the deck around these effects but it also prevents the Special Summon of Machina Fortress and the XYZ summon.

Chimeratech Fortress Dragon: He allows himself a clean from the opponent's summon, it does recquier play Cyber Dragon, but the

real strong point is that even if the summon is cancel it will still remove the opponent's monsters.

System Down: The best Dark hole variant against all machines deck, present as Supreme Dark Hole it removes all opposing monster on the field and the cemetery

it some how prevents the occurrence of incessant Machina Fortress, the high cost of these 1000LP this card is fatal.

Conclusion :

This deck that can generate pluses every turn will definitely be a contender in the new format to come. As good as it is, every deck has it’s weaknesses.

I think maybe play that for the rest of this format and test every variety for make the best mix.

Return of Duelist - Censorship

Hello everyone,
Like I did for the previous sets, I will do an article about the censorship in the latest set which came out in TCG in August : Return of the Duelist.

Every time a set come from the OCG to the TCG, some cards get little changes.
I'm not talking about effect or ATK, I'm talking about their artwork.
For some reason, the game in TCG is supposed to be appropriate for little kids or whatever, so some content must be controlled. Therefore, card artworks are redraw to appear less agressive, horrific, or sexual.

Below are the censored cards from Return of the Duelist :

1/ High Priestess of Prophecy

If you look closely to her breast, you will see that those two fruits have been juiced!
And also, a piece of clothing has been added to cover her belly.

2/ Spellbook Of Wisdom

The same here.
Usually when a monster card is censored, every card he or she's appearing in after that, is censored the same way.

3/ Soul Drain

Revived King Ha Des's horns has been removed, the same way Dark Ruler Ha Des's horn has been removed from Skill Drain. And the horns have been replaced with weird balls.

4/ Three of a Kind

This card reminds me of the time when the deck Rescue Cat Synchro was in vogue, and we could do things like : summon Summoner Monk, effect: summon another one, then effect: summon Rescue Cat, then effect: summon 2 X-Saber Airbellum, then synchro summon 2 Dark Strike Fighter for game.
Good times...

But anyway, the thing that is different between those two cards is the writen language on the cards on the picture of the card, you're following me?
For example, サイバー・ドラゴン became Cyber Dragon.

5/ Turnabout

Everytime, and I mean everytime, this fat-ass Emperor is on a trap card, in OCG he is topless and in TCG he is with a white shirt.

6/ Impenetrable Attack

Let's just say that in OCG, the Hero on the picture is a real man with real attributes, and in the TCG he is just a doll. If you know what I mean.

7/ Mahunder

We can't see the little part of her leg anymore, her skirt is longer.

Astral Pack 1 - Spoiler

So it’s time for a new tournament pack series. But what do we call it? Something cool. It needs to be something related to Zexal. (”Feelin’ the Flow”… no, that’s too long.) Something about Dueling. Since we’re adding more foil (more about that in a bit!) it needs to be something shiny….
Shiny? Cool? Dueling? Only one thing fits the bill! After all, who else has an incredible knowledge of all things Dueling? So coming soon, when you participate in officially sanctioned events, you’ll receive the all-new, and shinier-than-ever ASTRAL PACK ONE.

Lots of things about Astral Packs will be the same as previous series:

3 cards per pack
You get them for participating in official tournaments at your local store.
You’ll get a chance to bling out your Deck with shiny versions of cards you might already have.
We’ll reprint some other cards so they’ll be easier to get.
Astral Packs will be a great way to get the latest (and most accurate) card text on complicated cards.

.
But we’re always learning and improving. Astral Packs needed to be better and cooler than Turbo Packs. So we made a few changes, as well:

Ultimate Rares are really cool – so we tripled them! Each Astral Pack set will have 3 different Ultimate Rares.
All cards that would have been normal Rares have been upgraded to Super Rare – there will be 10 different Super Rares per set!
Since Super Rares are replacing Rares, the “1 rare card per pack” rule will now be “1 foil card per pack” (most of the time – manufacturing errors DO happen from time to time).
Set size increased to 25 cards.
There will be 1 new monster per set, like the old Normal Monsters. But it will be VERY hard to get.

So why did we take the normal Rares out? They just didn’t seem that exciting. If there are cards that we really want everyone to have, we just make them common. And the foil cards are there as the exciting chase cards. Normal rares just didn’t seem to have much of a purpose in this set, especially since the number of packs you can get is very limited, and based on how many times you can play in your store’s local tournament. So we just bumped all the Rares to Super Rare and called it a day.
We also removed the 1 Ultra Rare per set. With 3 Ultimates per set now, we just felt that the single, solitary Ultra Rare would just be over-shadowed. Sandwiched between the Ultimates and Supers, it just seemed to get lost in the shuffle.

With 13 foils per set – and a foil in every pack – we’re pretty sure that Astral Packs will be fun and exciting to open every time you play in your local tournaments!
Astral Packs are still a bit of a ways off, but once they come out, you’ll be able to bling out your Deck with cards like the Ultimate Rare Tsukuyomi, Super Rare versions of Kagemusha of the Six Samurai, Terraforming, Mask Change, and The Gates of Dark World, and easy-to-get common versions of cards like Swift Scarecrow and Thunder of Ruler.

The Seal of Orichalcos

The Seal of Orichalcos will be available in the Legendary Collection 3: Yugi's World the 27th of September. It will be Ultra Rare and 100% tournament legal.

The effect of The Seal of Orichalcos does this:

All monsters you control gain 500 ATK.Once per turn, this card cannot be destroyed by card effects. While you control 2 or more face-up attack position monsters, your opponent cannot target your monster(s) with the lowest ATK for an attack. When this card is activated: Destroy all Special Summoned monsters you control. You cannot Special Summon monsters from your Extra Deck. You can only activate “The Seal of Orichalcos” once per Duel.

The Seal of Orichalcos works well with the card Demise of the Land.

You can activate Demise of the Land only if your opponent special summon a monster, then you can activate a field spell card from your deck.
When you activate The Seal of Orichalcos with effect of Demise of the Land, you will not have to destroy your special summoned monsters.

This ruling isn't a 100% official, but until someone from Konami tells otherwise, this ruling should be applied.
The reason is, an old ruling from the Upper Deck time, says that "If you activate "Ancient Forest" with the effect of "Demise of the Land" it will not change Defense Position monsters to face-up Attack Position."
All rulings from Upper Deck are supposed to be used unless Konami change the ruling itself.
The text of Ancient Forest and the one of The Seal of Orichalcos are formulated the same way ("When you activates this card,..." & "When this card is activated:...") which means both cards interact the same way with Demise of the Land.
And since Ancient Forest doesn't get it's effect when brought on the field by Demise of the Land, The Seal of Orichalcos won't get his neither.

So now, are you ready to capture some souls?

A few mouths ago a started a poll with this question : "Which one of the following cards you would like to see banned?"

And the possible answers were :
- Mind control
- Sangan
- Book of Moon
- Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning
- Future Fusion
- Monster Reborn
- Pot of Avarice
- None of them, they can stay ^^

And let's just say that some prayers has been heard.

The answer which got the most hit were "None of them, they can stay" with 22,5%.
Followed by Future Fusion with 20,0%.
