Mariah Live on GMA: Amazing or A Mess?

Mariah Carey took to the stage of Good Morning America this morning and many people are talking about it. Have your say below: What happened?

Wardrobe malfunction and all, Mariah Carey starts of with a live version of her 90's hit "Always Be My Baby". It was shaky in parts but for what it was worth, i think she did a good job. It wasn't a bad performance.

She then goes into her new single #Beautiful featuring Miguel. This was the performance that people were saying "was a mess" and "Terrible" and she sounded "like shit" lol. I dont think she sounded as bad as people are making it, its beautiful song that has alot of soft vocals, not like her other songs that require a big vocal see "Make it happen", "Vision of love".

She also performed "We Belong Together", 100% live and out of all her performance this was the strongest vocal, she looked abit pissed off in some parts though, I don't understand. She could have done without the outro but i think she did a great job overall. Then again im a huge Mariah Fan, so everything she does is amazing in my eyes. But i will definatley call a spade a spade.

Janet Jackson has been off the raider for a while now, that was until today, Ms Jackson was spotted in Cannes on Thursday, in an all white ensemble, working the red carpet. Janet recently confirmed she is currently working on a new album and if headlines are to be believed, she is currently on billionaire status. Forbes.com disagree. Full story below:

The Internet is abuzz with news that singer Janet Jackson is a billionaire. In fact several news outlets are saying she is “officially” a billionaire. There’s just one problem: it isn’t true. The reports stem from a story in Variety this week about Jackson titled “Behind the Velvet Rope.” The story is connected to Jackson’s work with the charity AmFAR and is surrounded by full-page ads congratulating Jackson on being “a billion dollar entertainer.” To be fair, the story does not specifically say that Jackson is a billionaire. It just lays out the money that her work has brought in over the span of her career including $81 million from music and book publishing, $260 million in album sales and $458 million from touring.

Together with other areas of business, the revenues add up to $1.2 billion. But that’s very different than a net worth. Net worth is based on the value of the cash and assets you have at the moment, not on how much your work has brought in over a lifetime. When we evaluate whether people will make our annual list of the World’s Billionaires, we look at things like stock holdings, real estate and art collections. Oprah Winfrey is a billionaire because of the value of her holdings in things like Discovery and Harpo Productions, not because of the ad revenue her show generated over the years. This isn’t the first time the general press has mistaken the money brought in by someone’s business for the net worth of that individual. Jessica Simpson has been called a billionaire. My colleague Clare O’Connor did an excellent take down of claims that the Kardashians are billionaires. Madonna is also rich, but not a billionaire. Source

“It’s completely different!” she tells Glamazons. “It’s not a hip hop, R&B, soul album at all. It’s called CYMATIKA Volume 1, I’ll have other volumes as well.”

“Cymatika is the study of visual sound. They’ll put sand on a plate that is hooked up to wires and with certain sounds, vibration goes through to the plate and creates a geometric shape out of the sand. You’ll go from C note to D note and when you change the note, the sand’s formation changes. When you go back to C, the sand goes back to its original formation. It’s fascinating. As humans, we’re all energy and light and spirit; and sound plays a part in that because sound is simply vibrating energy. That’s what this album is about…about life and who we are, not being afraid to be who we are, and not forgetting our spirit.”

“The album is influenced by new wave and acid house, which I explored in my album “Because I Love It” in 2007, which was released in Europe. For the fans who heard that, they’ll say “Oh, I could see this coming.” For fans who loved the first album, they’re going to be like “What is this?!” (laughs) But I grew up listening to everything, and this is where I am now. And it feels right for me.”-Source
