I would like you to give your full attention to this writing, because what you about to read will transform your life and circumstances significantly. If there is distraction around you, get rid of it before you even read this article.

Before I continue, I would like you to remember this "Never ever underestimate the power of knowledge." That’s right; say this to yourself until you remember it perfectly in your mind and your heart “Never ever underestimate the power of knowledge.” If tonight your knowledge of reading is taken away from you, tomorrow your salary will be reduced significantly. If tonight your knowledge that you earn from 4 years of college is taken away from you, you will lose your job tomorrow, because you won’t be able to perform your duty at your work place that requires your knowledge.

When people come to me to gripe and complain about buying $15 book, those people don’t respect knowledge & information, therefore they don’t deserve an increase in their income. Your income is determined by the amount of knowledge and information you have! If you want to become a nurse, you must attend a nursing school, get your nursing training and once you graduate from nursing school, you will be able to work in a hospital as a nurse. If you want to become a lawyer, you must go through a law school. If you want to become a mechanic, you must read and study about mechanics. If you want to become a great real estate investor, read books about real estate investing, attend seminars, and go to classes that will you to become a great real estate investor. If you’re in sales and want to become the number one sales person in your company, try to listen to sales motivational tapes, attend sales seminars, read books about how to become a better sales person and attend classes.

Many people want an increase in their income but they are not willing to trade their time and money to get more knowledge that can help them to increase their income. They would rather spend their money on clothes, gasoline and eating out, instead of spending money on their brain. Your brain is worth investing. Your mind is one of the most powerful tool that you have and it is worth investing. The ability of your mind to solve problems will be determined by the amount of information and knowledge you have learned. If your ability to drive is taken away from you, you won’t be able to drive tomorrow, and it will frustrate you.

The reason why most people are frustrated about their income today, it’s because they are lacking of the information that they need to improve their income. Some of them see their problem as an opportunity to learn new things and they are able to overcome their financial problems. Some of them will just sit down, complain and hope that a miracle will come to them.

You’re the only person that is responsible for your future! No body else cares about you if you don’t care about yourself. Again, if you’re willing to put $40 to $60 a day in your car gas tank; your brain is worth more than $40 to $60 a day. The reason why you have your job today because your mind is able to solve problems for your employer! The reason why your business is thriving today, it’s because your mind has the capability to solve problems for your clients.

“Never ever underestimate the power of knowledge.” Knowledge and information can transform your life significantly. Are you willing to pay the price? Are you willing to take your time to improve yourself? I challenge you to stand up, stop sitting around and complaining and start to do something different today as soon as you finish reading this article. If you want to have something that you never have, you must be willing to do something you have never done, so “Never ever underestimate the power of knowledge!”

Our feelings are perceived by means of our sensors, our sensors are designed to detect conductors of energy that have the power to stir our feelings.

It is this power we long for in particular individuals that manage to stir these responses in us, whether they manage to match their negatives with our positives or vice versa, generating a current we are unconsciously plugged into and are likely to become hooked on like junkies, particular currents determined by our electrical weaknesses and deficiencies, and the energy levels and forms we actually need to complement and supplement this malnutrition.

Everybody I need is a supplement for one of my electrical deficiencies, and the images and fancies stirred in my mind and body and interpreted in the emotions of companionship, goodwill, romance, excitement, joy, misery … are plugs I stuck into my holes. Everything you feel will tell you a little more about your state of mind.

And perceptive people will be able to determine your state of mind by testing you with different electrical impulses. It’s the mind reading thing I wrote about [that Skatto lost last semester!].

By intercepting and interpreting the currents generated from your polar states and the environment created, pictures, languages depicting your state of mind, are produced. It is simple chemistry and physics, simple science.

Human beings are a composition of chemicals and forces. If litmus paper is stuck into a solution and it turns pink the solution is an acid. If heat is connected to an object and there is a change in its density as its molecules likewise heat up, then it is a conductor of heat … possible expansion … possibly a metal. Life revolves around science and perceptive people are scientists in a laboratory when people surround them.

Which is why the key to unraveling everything else is the knowledge of yourself. Yourself, as in, the primal, unaffected human being. Take yourself up as a case study, the first experiment, then formulate the rules as you proceed, testing others by testing yourself, gathering knowledge from your own experiences, relating them to others, and relating the experiences of others to your primal, unaffected self. 90% of the time you will be correct.

You are made up of your thoughts … your thoughts are made up of your experiences … your experiences are made up of your journey and orientation through life … your journey and orientation through life is made up of your position on the earth and the state of matter around you … and your position and the state of matter is made up of time.

Your thoughts determine your decisions … your decisions determine your actions … your actions relate with other peoples thoughts, decisions and actions and determine their perception of you and your perception of them.

My mother taught me how to teach others about the power of the mind. By learning how to teach her, I learned how to communicate essential wealth-building ideas to others.

Many years ago, she worked as an employee in an insurance company. Her low salary pinned her to a fixed income. Trapped in her cubicle, she held little hope for change.

With Christmas only a month away, she was upset. Normally, a generous soul, she did not know how to face the season of giving. She could barely pay her many bills, let alone buy everyone in our family presents.

I asked her what she would do if she could attract $25,000 for Christmas. I told her that it is possible to create anything with the mind. I told her that she could create wealth. I told her that she had the power to create miracles if her faith was strong enough.

After much skepticism, she humored me by telling me all the things she would buy.

I then talked to her about how the great religious teachers of the past taught the principles of manifestation.

Jesus Christ spoke about it in the Sermon on the Mount.

The Buddha spoke about it in the Dhammapada.

Krishna spoke about it in the Bhagavad-Gita.

I pointed out how many of the esoteric traditions also mentioned it. In the
Kabbalah teachings, in Sufism, and in Shamanism many rich illustrations hinted at the power of mind over matter.

Today, the science of quantum mechanics mathematically and experimentally demonstrates how thoughts influence matter.

During my enthusiastic exposition, her eyes glazed over as I spoke.

Finally, out of desperation, I focused on keeping things very simple, and very practical.

Since she is a great cook, I gave her specific, doable instructions in a recipe book format.

At Christmas time, when I showed up at the house, everything looked different. Signs of affluence colored the room like a rainbow. I saw a brand new Persian carpet, a big fish tank, and a whole assortment of kitchen gadgets. Everything on her list was now in the house! And, yes, she had plenty of presents for everyone.

This was her remarkable story:

She practiced the ideas I taught her. After a time, they made her feel better. She did them because it gave her hope. As she did them, she noticed no change in her mind or her life. Still, she persisted (if only to prove her pedantic son wrong!)

One day, she felt an urge to invest in her company’s stock options. Suddenly, the market went bearish for a few weeks and she made a modest fortune.

She sold her stocks for exactly $25,000!

This weird story changed both our lives. She practiced the principles of manifestation from then on, and I worked on refining them and teaching them. To this day, I still don’t understand the stock market. My mother didn’t fully understand it, either. She was just happy to follow her intuition.

Incidentally, today, my mother runs her own insurance company. (And, yes, she is an even better cook now that she has an army of culinary robots working for her.)

This was the beginning of my teaching others to make money simply by thinking about wealth in a specific way. Through this incident, I accidentally stumbled upon a method to teach anyone how to manifest what they needed.

Later on, I manifested a scholarship that enabled me to follow my dream of going to graduate school for psychology.

And today I have enjoyed the materialization of this website to share my knowledge with others; although when I first started I didn’t have a clue about web design or marketing. I just manifested the right people and technical education and software tools to make it happen.

Each person has her or his own place and purpose. We all
possess unique talents and unique ways of expressing
them. This means each of us can do something better than
anyone else in our society can. And every unique talent and
expression of that talent also has unique needs. When
these needs are matched with the creative expressions of
our talents, they will spark the creation of prosperity.
Whenever we express our unique talents and use them in
the service of humanity, we lose track of time and create
abundance in our lives, and in others’ lives as well.

One of the stiffest challenges we face in life is securing a
balance of the facets of our beings as we engage our
surroundings. We’re faced with so much interference daily
that challenges our beliefs and our characters. Maybe we
have friends trying to sway us to stay in certain places or
jobs. Perhaps family members are discouraging our career
aspirations. Despite such influences, we need always to
remember that we, not they, ultimately have to live with the
consequences of our actions and attitudes.

Everyone is different, and therefore our individual goals for
and ideas about life are different. We must each realize that
because we’re unique individuals, fulfilling our goals and
acting on our ideas will allow us to perform specific tasks in
our society. As long as our thoughts are pure and no one,
including ourselves, is harmed by our actions, we can be
sure that we’ll accomplish unique things that will contribute
to the overall good of our society.

That’s why you and I can’t ever let ourselves give up on what
we believe to be true for ourselves. Giving up on ourselves
would mean we’ve allowed other people’s voices to rule our
own. We alone know what we’re really best at or will enjoy
doing with our lives. When we muster the courage to follow
what we believe to be true for ourselves, we’ll always meet
people along the way who’ll share our goals and even offer
us their support to help us meet them.

When you realize the importance and value of pursuing your
own purpose, you’ll overshadow other people’s opinions of
what you should want to do. At times you may feel that it
would help to seek additional sources of positive
reinforcement -- but you must be careful whom you choose
to ask for it. Sometimes other people’s opinions of your
goals can provide you with valuable insight, but not always.
Never accept other people’s opinions as laws on which you
construct how you’ll live your life. Those opinions merely
reflect some other person’s view of your life. Essentially,
you must use your own judgment and know that it’s all right
to disagree with someone else’s opinion, even if it was
given gently and in good faith. If you do disagree with other
people’s opinions, be sure and ask yourself why you
disagree. After you’ve evaluated your response, you may
see a different aspect of your own goal or opinion you didn’t
see before.

Although many of us don’t consciously recognize or
acknowledge that we even have specific life purposes, our
subconscious knows what we’re here to do, and it reaches
out to us, sending messages through our dreams,
intuitions and innermost longings. Our destiny’s call
manifests in us through our deepest drives and abilities --
the hidden forces behind our personalities. These drives
shape our careers and our relationships, and influence the
quality and direction of our lives.

Until we recognize and live in accord with our unique
underlying purposes, our lives may feel like puzzles with
missing pieces; we may sense that there’s something
we’re here to do, but not quite grasp what it is. So we may
work and rest, eat and sleep, make money and spend it,
and have our share of pleasures and difficulties, yet still find
that any fundamental recognition of our purpose in life
eludes us.

"Money, fine clothes, fancy cars, public acknowledgement
are no substitute for purpose. When you know your
purpose, you know you are about the business of what you
are here to do; you are on purpose. With purpose, you have
vision. With purpose, you have clarity. With purpose, you
have the support, power, and blessings of the universe at
your disposal." -- Iyanla Vanzant

Have you been in that “black hole?” That is the place that is so dark and keeps sucking you in. It can seem like there is no way out, so what is the use of going on.

I just emerged from one recently. It was seemingly more distressing because I am such a “positive” person. The truth is I have fears and doubts like anyone else.

I am a believer in creating my reality from the thoughts and feelings I send out. I know that the experiences I was having (and kept attracting) were a result of being stuck in a low vibration. I had a series of rushing into decisions and paying for them later. Even being aware of this did not prevent me from doing it all over again.

I was fortunate enough to work through this with my life coach. I was able to see the underlying issue of lack of self-esteem and feeling on a subconscious level that I was not deserving of the abundance life has to offer, was a core issue for me.

The powerful part of the act of going through this was the fact that I felt it. I worked through it and experienced it on a deep level.

There is so much today about the law of attraction (which does control your reality), but I feel there is a component of this that may be misunderstood. I am the first to agree that my job is to feel better and to raise my vibration. If I were to have just reached for the thought that felt better and not worked through the feelings, most likely they would have risen up at a later time.

I was present in my feelings and experienced them on a physical level. I let them be in my body and work from there. It is a great gift to be able to process this and have someone there to guide me through it.

I am writing about my experience because I believe it is a gift to those that are struggling with their own “black holes” and trying to change their point of attraction. There is a fine balance in knowing when to “just get off it” and move on, and going deeper into it and moving through it.
I know that a huge part of this process is letting what is be okay. Until you are at peace with the place you are now, you are stopping the process. So maybe that “black hole” you are in now is the gift to usher you into the next level in your life.

I often think of the wise words of Byron Katie (www.thework.org) when she said, “Don’t be spiritual, be honest.” Be kind to yourself, allow yourself to be human and feel your truth.

I'd like you to do an exercise with me.

I want you to use your imagination to construct a dream theater.

Begin by visiting your living room in your mind’s eye.

Now this is not the living room you now believe in and have created in actuality, but this is your living room in the future.

Notice how everything is different. Make it bigger, brighter, and closer. Feel the vivid emotions of this dream living room.

Expand this vision a little more. Deepen this vision quest.

See the other rooms. See the house. See the neighborhood. Fly higher on the wings of desire and see a marvelous new world.

Now populate your house with the people you would like to share your time and space.

What kind of work are you doing? What kind of impact on the world are you now having? In what ways is your life deeper, richer, and more fulfilling?

Do this exercise right now and then come back to this article.

Do you find yourself believing the story you just told yourself?

Was your dream real for a moment? Or did it seem more like just another pipe dream? If your desire was intense enough, it will have aroused within you a sense of certainty, a taste of possibility.

Once upon a time, Benjamin Franklin flew a kite and discovered electricity. Today every home in the developed world is lit by electric light. In fact, we take electricity for granted.

Once upon a time, the Wright brothers flew the first airplane and discovered aerial transportation. Today every major city in the world is connected by airports. In fact, we take travel by air for granted.

Similarly your dream is calling to you to awaken it and to bring it forth into form and function. Your ambition is trying to arouse you from your conditioned slumbers.

Your dream exists because it is your way to be uniquely yourself. It also exists because it wants to change the world for the better.

What has to happen before you will act on your dream and learn all you need and do all that is necessary to bring it into reality? Dare you allow yourself to unleash your aspiration?

Want to be the best in your field?

Edward W. Smith, motivational speaker, author and TV show host, who specializes in quick tips on how to move your life ahead even faster, offers the following advice.

First move your decision to be the best, into a commitment. Let everyone know you plan to be the best and make it a written goal. Next take a positive attitude towards you becoming the best and begin to use mental imagery and affirmations to give you the mental boost you need to carry you through the work involved in becoming the best. Then, take an inventory of the skills, experience, knowledge, etc. needed to be the best in your field. Next put together a plan to start acquiring this knowledge and put it into action. Constantly ask yourself if every action you take is moving you towards being the best in your field. Since every field undergoes change over time, monitor what new skills are needed and what others can be dropped, so you continually target the cutting edge of your field. Finally, ask for help from those who can help speed up your progress and get a mentor to guide you along the path to being the best.

The Law of Attraction responds to whatever vibration you are sending out into the Universe. You will receive more of what you are vibrating whether it is desired or not. This law does not decide whether what it is returning is good for you or not, it simply responds to your vibration.

This morning I got up early because we received more snow last night and I decided to take advantage of the crisp air and opportunity to be alone for a while. I bundled up and headed out with my snow scraper in hand.

While shoveling, I thought about what has transpired in my life this year … where I was 12 months ago, where I am now, and where I want to be in a year.

Earlier this year, I put an intention into the Universe to guide me to my divine purpose. There was something missing that I needed in order to feel complete.

After handing my intention over, I started to visualize myself being surrounded by warm, caring people dedicated to helping me achieve success and sense of purpose, and reminded myself daily to remain open to any opportunity that might present itself.

Each day I woke up “knowing” that my answer would come, and with this knowing, I felt a sense of calmness. I was more relaxed. I smiled more and did not hesitate to speak to strangers and offer them a hand when needed.

I kept my mind open, listened more closely and focused more on giving than on receiving.

The Universe responded in kind.

Many generous, loving people were drawn into my life and together we have shared in a wonderful journey of self-growth, enlightenment and amazing successes.

During the past month, I became caught up in the daily stresses of work. I started thinking, there is never enough time, there is too much to do, I’m all on my own … and on and on …

I adopted the mindset that I was going down and became focused on struggling and racing time. My negative vibration started attracting more of the same and the disparaging results started snowballing.

I created an undesirable cycle of events.

One of the greatest gifts we have is the ability to choose our thoughts, and thankfully, in the middle of the crisp, cool winter air, I realized that I was creating this reality with my negative thinking.

The Universe was merely giving me back what I was sending out.

After shoveling, I decided I must change course to attract desired events in my life. I chose not to focus on work’s daily demands but on life and those who mean the most to me.

I spent the remainder of my day decorating the Christmas tree with my stepson then taking him out for lunch. I gave him my undivided attention and let him know he is important.

I returned to my true purpose. Focusing on others and helping them see their worth in this world.

It is important to remember that you have the power to create your reality and this is managed through your thoughts.

If you are thinking about a lack of something, you will attract more of this. If you are thinking about something you love, you will attract more of what you love and enjoy.

Be aware of what is coming into your life and if it isn’t what you want, review your thought processes and make changes. You have the power.

The secret of attraction is the unconscious hope for healing and understanding. This is why we are so discriminating in our choice of a marital partner. Not just anyone will do. And when we find the right person we become infatuated and fall head over heels for him or her. Our passion and hope for lifetime mate often borderlines on the absurd. Typically, what we see in him or her is really a self-generated fantasy. We are in "la la" land. We unconsciously block out all of their negative characteristics and distort their positives. We imagine them to be loving, caring, intelligent, funny, patient, giving, attractive, interesting, hard-working when in fact they are often very little of all of this. However, and all fairness, in spite of what we think about ourselves, we are also far from this ideal!

The simplest proof that much of what we know about a future mate is "imagined" is demonstrated by the fact that in North America about half of all couples that marry ultimately end up divorced. And of those that remain married, when asked, the majority believe they have chosen the wrong partner. What happens? Why is everybody so disappointed in their mate? Simply, after six months or a year of marriage, when the fantasy bubble pops, then each individual begins seeing his or her partner for whom he or she really is.

One might err in thinking that human beings are totally unsuited for finding appropriate lifetime partners to live together until separated by death. Perhaps we would be more successful if we just roll the dice and let chance determine who our lifetime partner should be. The truth is, however, we are actually very skilled in finding the right partners. Our folly is not knowing what to do when the fantasy bubble pops and problems occur. We often don't know how to properly understand our disappointment and frustration.

To understand ourselves and how during courtship we select a particular person as a mate we must begin by exploring childhood. Childhood is rarely ideal. Most children suffer because of parents who lack appropriate parenting skills or are burdened with their own personal and unresolved problems that negatively impact upon their children. As well, uncontrollable circumstances such as poverty, emigration or illness can negatively affect children. A natural consequence for most children of an imperfect childhood is that some of their basic emotional needs are not completely met. For example, let's consider a boy that is raised by a mother that maintains a position of emotional distance from him as he grows up. As a result, this boy is deprived of the natural emotional support and love that he needs. As a consequence, this boy will grow into adulthood with an emotional deficit. In this particular case what is missing is "emotional intimacy." This deficit will then become a strongly felt "core value." When he is married, he will have expectations that his wife will provide for him that which his mother did not. The irony however is that typically the women he will be most attracted to will remind him of his mother, that is, a woman that is emotionally distant or cold. The reason that he is unconsciously searching for a woman that reminds him of his mother is so that he can reclaim that which he was denied as a child in a form that seems as if he is actually getting it from his mother since his wife reminds him of her. Unconsciously, the debt owed to him by his mother is transferred to his wife. Ironically, he actually picks the most unlikely candidate to give him emotional warmth and closeness since his attracted to somebody that is distant and cold. But she is "like" his mother and he now has a second chance to make-up that which he most missed in childhood. He loves his bride because he hopes and imagines that she will fulfil his emotional needs and thereby he will be healed and become a whole person and then live a happy and content life.

Marital problems usually first begin when there is a realization that a partner is unable or unwilling to give that which is most needed and desired. It is as if the partner is not honouring his or her commitment to meet these deep psychological needs and heal his childhood wounds. The problem in understanding what is really going on is that this complicated psychological process is unconscious for most people and this disappointment is experienced as confusing and undefined feelings. As a result, on a personal level, disappointment, anger and depression often set in. A partner's little daily behaviours can become symbolically irritating and overtime an individual can begin to perceive his or her partner as an "enemy."

However, things can turn out very different if marriage is seen as an opportunity for personal growth. Through emotional and intellectual growth and maturity we can come to understand at some level of consciousness that each person enters into marriage with a hidden agenda. We want to get from our partner all the positive emotional experiences we didn't get as children. We want to heal our childhood wounds and take away the pain that we still now feel as an adult. In order for this to happen our husband or wife has to become more than he or she already is. For example, a wife who is naturally emotionally distant must change her nature and become warm and communicative to her husband who is in need of emotional closeness. In turn, he too must go beyond himself in order to give his wife what she needs. Marriage provides the opportunity for tremendous emotional and spiritual growth. This great "medicine" can only happen within the marital context. Both individuals in the marriage have the opportunity to grow and heal. When this happens, the result is a happy and satisfying marriage.

We can help actualize this beautiful potential for growth and wholeness by making our unconscious needs conscious, i.e., by identifying our core emotional values and needs. Marital bliss is created when both partners make a concerted effort, as a team, to provide each other with emotional and psychological nurturing and healing.

When a couple is experiencing marital difficulties, rather than making a partner into an "enemy," it should be viewed as an opportunity for personal growth and a clear signal to work hard on establishing marital peace and harmony. With effort overtime success will come.

I took a look at the top 500 hits on the Internet and found that at least 90% of them are related to pop culture. Who is dating who, singers, actors, gossip, etc. Why are we so fascinated with these larger than life stars? Why do we care?

I am fascinated with the list of possibilities.
How can the fact that Mr. Movie Star is having an affair with Ms. Movie Star have any impact on our day to day life? I think that there is an underlying desire for escaping one’s own life. It is easy to live vicariously through the media. At least someone out there is doing something other than living an ordinary life. But what does this cost us energetically?

If we get what we focus on and create our life by our thoughts, what message are we sending out? By the mere fact of seeking this information, it is sending a message out that our lives are not worthy of attention. There is something lacking. It is sometimes painful to take inventory of our own lives. It is easier to keep focused “out there.” What is the underlying message sent out to the Universe? “My life is so boring and so lacking in interest, I care more about people I have never met and most likely will never meet.” Wow! What is it about what they are doing that resonates with you? Is it something you have wanted to do for as long as you remember? Instead of reading about them doing it, why not focus on how you can do it?

Does it seem impossible? What would be a smaller version of what it is that they are doing, that you could focus on? Allow yourself to dream. See yourself doing those things, traveling to those places, making huge sums of money, living in grand houses. Why not you? Do you have an underlying belief that only “those people” can live a grand life, and you settle for reading about it? That is a good place to start. Examine your beliefs. How do you feel when you compare your life to the person that you are reading about? Do feelings of not being worthy come up? Why are you not worthy? Why do you think that they are? Become a detective of your beliefs. Do they serve you? Do they limit you? Where did you get those beliefs to begin with? Are they really true? Who told you that?
Can you see how by just asking questions you have become more engaged in your life?

Now you have something about you that interests you? Do you see how asking one question can lead to many more questions? The powerful thing about this process is that by merely asking the questions in the right way (a positive way) your subconscious mind is instantly getting busy to provide you with answers. So instead of asking why someone else has something you want, ask yourself, “How can I get that?” Then wait for answers that will present themselves in opportunities and people that will appear in your life to provide you with your desires.

Are you now thinking about making some changes in your own life and care less about the latest gossip? If so, then I applaud you for being open to creating some real change in your life.

Do you remember the feeling of seeing someone you were attracted? It makes the heart bump, doesn’t it?

Have you ever stood on stage in front of a sea of faces that you know well and pulled out your notes to make a speech? Boy does the vibration of shaking liven you up!

Have you ever felt the breeze on your face, either during a hot-air balloon ride or by sticking your head through the car sunroof? It wakes your senses up, doesn’t it?

And on a scale of 1-10 how much does your heart bump, body shake and senses wake when you do your day job? I bet you can practically do the tasks with your eyes shut. In fact I bet there are days when you feel like you did have your eyes shut?

Most people don’t feel awakened by their day jobs. Their role lacks excitement and the chores get done with a distinct lack of passion. In many places of work you often hear people making a, “If I have to work for a living I’d sooner do something I enjoy,” kind of statement.

However finding or creating work that engages you to the extent that you lose track of time isn’t easy, is it?

Many people find themselves in the place of having money and all the trappings, yet still feel unhappy and not knowing why.

Part of the issue here is that they/you probably don’t attach any other meaning to work except the money taken home at the end of the month. And if you won the lottery this weekend, would we see you at work on Monday?

Probably not.

But I want to give you an example of a guy I know living his life purposefully and totally engaged in his work. He used to be obese. He used to pack in a minimum nine hours sleep each night, he often got ill and he was forever counting the clock down at work.

Now he has lost 84 pounds, works in timeless awareness – where time slips by unnoticed - sleeps on average 5-6 hrs per night and wakes up raring to go in the morning. In fact on a summer morning he’s worked for an hour, jogged six miles, done an hours yoga and is sitting at the breakfast table by 8am. Also he’s not seen a doctor in three years and had only one cold or virus!

The weight loss will give him years extra to live and the lack of pharmaceutical drugs in his body means his major organs are no longer breaking down and continuing the illness cycle. And the extra hours he now has because he is not sleeping… well these give him just over two moths extra living each year!

And the good news is he began as an ‘ordinary’ person and learned to make extra-ordinary changes when he discovered and began to understand his Life Purpose.

If you don’t feel engaged in your work it is probably because you are not working close to your life purpose or because your natural talent and ability is being choked.

If you feel apathy in your work, lethargic or are suffer from weight issues it is well worth taking a look at your life purpose.

Best Wishes

We have all heard the expression, "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again." But to carry on without thinking about why you failed only leads to more failure.

The ability to create is a God given gift. A gift given to everyone without exception. Thought is the first step to manifesting any creation. Thoughts are energy, they are real. Your thoughts act as magnets and attract other thoughts, people, and circumstances that harmonize with them.

Thoughts operate and adhere to certain universal laws. Without these laws there would be no order; the universe itself would sink into chaos.

The Law of Attraction states that like attracts like. Much of what was once considered metaphysical, esoteric knowledge in the past is now scientific fact. Physics has shown that the principles involved in the Law of Attraction are every bit as valid as those governing the Law of Gravity. So it should come as no surprise that dwelling only on your problems simply attracts more problems.

The idea of attracting success by thinking about it is very appealing. So appealing in fact, people often get the wrong impression that it's easy. Affirmations can be helpful, but mindless affirmations alone have no real value. On the other hand, once an affirmation becomes part of your belief system the subconscious goes to work attracting opportunities. It is not the success itself we attract, but the opportunity to succeed.

Our world is ruled by cause and effect, yet we often fail to see how this rule applies to the thoughts we think. This happens because the results of our thoughts are so far removed from the cause that we fail to see the connection.

The subconscious mind is working tirelessly 24 hours a day. It doesn't analyze, it doesn't judge, it simply accepts and attracts more of what the conscious mind is focused on. Are you attracting problems or solutions? By focusing on desire and showing gratitude for what you already have, the subconscious mind is given the necessary material to provide a constant stream of opportunities. Whether we take advantage of these opportunities or not is another story.

It's impossible to operate outside the law of attraction. Consciously or unconsciously your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, determine if this law works for or against you. Stay focused on your success and reaching your goals. As one success leads to another, success becomes a habit. Problems and obstacles are seen as no more than stepping stones on the road to your ultimate goal.

In a relationship, your ability to understand and respond to the other person's needs and desires are fundamental. Understanding the nature of relationships themselves may be as important to your success in love as understanding the person with whom you're having the relationship.

The key to a working relationship is twofold. First you need to work on a relationship day in and day out. Second you need the right information to pinpoint where the relationship needs work. Without this information you’re simply assuming and assumptions are the enemy to any healthy relationship.

From puppy love to winter romances, the following is true of all relationships

1. Relationships Don't Just Happen

Relationships aren't accidents that come out of nowhere; you create them and you have to make an effort to maintain them. Remember that the time you invest in others will always pay off.

2. Relationships are Need-based.

Everyone has their own personal needs and desires; your job is to figure out those needs since some may be unexpressed verbally. Not an easy task, therefore you have to focus on your partner. Ask how you can respond to a desire that she or he has.

3. Relationships Don't Hold a Grudge

Despite the use of terms like "perfect match," and "perfect couple," the idea of a perfect relationship is perfectly ridiculous. We all make mistakes dealing with other people, so it's important to be overlooked and/or forgive imperfections in others in order to build strong relationships.

4. Relationships That Endure Take Time

Relationships are formed with long-term goals in mind. This means that deep relationships will evolve slowly because the stakes -- a life partner -- are so great. In this instance, "haste makes waste" and divorce…or at least an ugly break-up.

5. Relationships are As Unique as the Folks That Are In 'Em.

No two people are the same and so no two relationships are the same. Your relationships will deepen and strengthen, if you can accept the uniqueness of others as a precious gift.

6. Relationships Build You Up.

"My partner brings out the best in me," is the way most people define the partner that they love. Relationships are built on encouragement, so always try to make your partner feel good, even if you're urging them beyond their comfort zone to a new level of intimacy.

7. Relationships Are Essential.

It may be a dog eat dog world out there, but man is still a "pack animal," looking for positive healthy relationships. Once you understand that nothing is more important than people, you'll communicate that supportive message in everything you do.

8. Relationships Are For Two.

There is no such thing as a one-person relationship. For a relationship to thrive it requires cooperation from both parties, otherwise it's unrequited love (at best) and stalking (at worst). You can't have a relationship with someone who isn't interested in having one with you.

9. Relationships are Greater Than the Sum of Their Parts.

In good relationships there is energy -- your energy and your partners. This energy pushes each of you to strive to make the relationship work as individuals, and it also drives you to a shared excellence.

Armed with these rules you should be able to create and maintain a healthy relationship. Some caution on this topic. Just because you live and breathe these rules doesn’t mean that your relationship will be better or a broken relationship will be fixed. Every situation is unique and requires different approaches. Use these rules as a guide and as a guide only.

Unfortunately a small article can’t do justice on the wide spectrum of creating and maintaining a working relationship. You will get the complete picture and step by step explanations in Race Kale’s new book “The Power of Charisma”.

Recently a friend of mine was talking about all the opportunities that seem to come her way without her even searching for them. For example, someone tells her about a house she can buy as a rental property investment. Next thing you know, someone else tells her about another one. Then, she’s at a spa one day talking to the spa owner and now she’s investing in owning a spa.

What is it that causes such things to happen to one person and not another?
I asked her what the secret was. Can you believe it? The secret was so simple. It was GIVING.

Think about times in your life when you have been in your greatest flow of positive energy. During those times I bet you will remember that you were in a very generous state of mind, giving freely in various aspects.

I once read a Proverb that said, “If you want friends, show yourself friendly.” I now know that the reciprocal effect of everything is the same. If you want money, give money, if you want love, give love, and so on.

The other day, I gave money to an organization when I really didn’t feel like I could afford it. Because I had not used up my 10% tithe amount for the month, I decided I had better keep my financial integrity in tact and give the money. It’s unbelievable in a way, but the next thing I knew I had a check in the mail from previous work I had done and forgotten that I had not been paid. I got a new client in my life coaching business, who called me from having seen some of my work. And, I was able to get into a training program I wanted as a result of the other person’s generosity!

Here is something that may catch your attention. Jennifer is a newly graduated college student who has a heart for health organizations. She joined the Team In Training efforts of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation and is training to run the marathon in San Francisco this year.

What will she get in return?

Some of what she will get is:

Physical fitness.

Encouragement and support from family and friends.

Admiration from people who can imagine how hard that training is.

Last Sunday I was sitting in on a class we conduct for newcomers at our church. One of our pastors said, “If we don’t change, we aren’t growing, and if we aren’t growing, we are dying”. Isn’t that so true? If you want your life to remain status quo, then your best guarantee is to resist change. However, if you want a better marriage, more life balance, higher self-esteem, better behaved children, or more quality friendships, then you need to embrace change.

So many of us focus on changing other people around us, even though we know deep down this doesn’t work. In fact, there is so much resistance to change that a book was written called Why Should I Be the First to Change? There are many answers to this question. First, you will be happier if you are continually growing and learning. You can only be responsible for you. When you change, people will follow. Lastly, by living your life to the fullest, you contribute to making the world a better place to live.

But let’s face it. Change is hard. We are creatures of habit, and many of our behaviors were learned in childhood. Maybe those behaviors served us at one time, but eventually we will be called to change if we want some part of our life to be different. As someone who has been committed to personal growth and change for over 20 years, let me share with you five essential ingredients I’ve learned you must have to successfully make changes in your life.

1. ACTION You can read every self-help book, attend seminars, or talk with people about how they’ve made changes, but unless you actually take action, nothing is going to happen. Of course gaining knowledge helps. However, it’s only the first step to change. Our mother’s group at church recently read a book called She’s Gonna Blow. In that book, there were hundreds of suggestions on how moms can better manage anger with their children. If a mom is dealing with frequent anger at her children, then she must take some of the principles and actually apply them to her life. Maybe it means she has to resolve anger from her past, count to 10 before she responds, or reserve daily relaxation time for herself. She must do something different if she is going to conquer her anger issues.

2. FOCUS To focus, you need a vision and a plan. How do you want your life to be different and what is your plan to change it? This is one thing I have learned from starting my own business. I have a tendency to have a million (well, not quite) ideas about what I want to do to grow my business. I will start to work on one idea and then jump to the next, and then on to something else. Pretty soon I am wondering what exactly I am accomplishing. Is my business actually growing or am I just doing a lot of tasks that don’t produce results? For every change you are trying to make, pick two or three things you can do to support that change and stick to them. Try those things for a substantial period of time before you move on to something else.

3. DISCIPLINE This is what will carry you through when the going gets tough. Anyone can stick to change for a week or two. It takes a disciplined mindset to make lasting change. You have to be able to pick yourself up when you fall down, brush yourself off, and try again. For two years, my older son, Kai, played travel baseball. Then he encountered a long hitting slump and he was no longer a superstar. His dad and I kept telling him he needed to be practicing or his hitting would not improve. It took two years of crushing disappointment from not making the travel team for Kai to learn discipline. He now faithfully practices his hitting at least five times per week. It totally comes from him and his desire to succeed. His discipline has developed a lifestyle change for him that has tremendously improved his hitting and his confidence.

4. COURAGE The number one reason we resist change is fear. Sometimes it can be scary to change. It is much more comfortable to remain status quo. It is normal to feel fear, but yet it is so crippling. To have courage is to not feel fear, but to push through the fear. I have always had a dream of singing on the music team at church. Singing on our church music team meant I had to go through an extensive and frightening audition. I could have easily sat on the sidelines and never taken that risk. Instead, I mustered the courage to try out. It was one of the most nerve wrecking experiences I’ve had. Even though I didn’t make the team, I learned something about myself. I am capable of conquering fear, and I lived to tell about it.

5. SUPPORT Change requires supportive people in your life. You need people who believe in you and who will encourage you on your journey. Sometimes you need someone to hold you accountable for what you say you’re going to do. You need friends and family members that won’t let you give up. You need love and understanding when you are struggling. Surround yourself with loving and helpful people, and put God at the center of your life. Some changes are so difficult, but all things are possible with God.

Remember back in school days when you needed a permission slip to do almost anything outside of the classroom? Things like simply being able to visit the washroom, attend a sports meeting or going on a field trip? As adults we don't need someone to give us a permission slip. We already have a whole supply at our disposal.

Now the trick here is to remember to use them.

Sounds simple right? Well, I have to tell you it's not always that simple. Actually I'm quite sure most of you haven't even thought about giving yourself permission to do much of anything lately, let alone permission to have some fun. Am I right?

Remember that there are some old beliefs that probably crop up when you are tempted to give yourself permission to do something, change something about yourself or ask for something.

Here's a list of some of those beliefs that show up and cause us to deny ourselves permission.

What will people think?

I'm sure I can't afford to do that

I don't really deserve this

I'm afriad

I'll be considered selfish

What if I fail?

What if I'm successful?

That's way outside my comfort zone

Let me share with you an example from my own life experience.

About 8 months ago I was attending a womens networking seminar and while I was there, I met up with Carol, a Personal Fitness Trainer. She was so interesting to chat with and I was really enjoying our conversation until she suggested that I come out to the gym and experience working out.

Oh boy, that was definitely something I never gave myself permission to do. Actually, that was one area that I was way out of my comfort zone because physical fitness has always been a big challenge for me. I just knew that I would feel uncomfortable working out in a gym.

But I have to tell you, I decided to put myself out there and took her up on her offer. And after three weeks of consistent training, I started to feel very comfortable. In fact, I felt extremely comfortable, energetic and especially proud of myself. It was great!

Now after 8 months of working out I am really seeing the benefits and am so happy that I took the chance and gave myself permission to step outside my comfort zone.

Here's some permission slip ideas you might want to incorporate into your own life.

Permission to do something that pleases YOU. (Yes, that's right, something that pleases you, how wicked!)

Permission to say no. (Not always easy to do but WOW, the benefits are tremendous.)

Premission to take an occasional day off from whatever it is you do. (And remember, stop checking those emails.)

Premission to check your emails. (Ok, ok, I'm guilty of this one too.)

Premission to become that fearless person you have always wanted to be. (This is BIG but so worth developing.)

So the moral of this information is that YOU are the only one who can sign your own permission slips.

What will they be? Will you give yourself permission to have some fun days, take a day off and enjoy it with a friend, give yourself permission to have a day with no interruptions, a day to kick back and just read?

All of these are possible, you just need to develop the skill and use it!

How a few people become the worst victims of life’s game, or to call it their own fate. How they are compelled to analyze life, wasting most of their time meant to prove themselves in the real world. Not their fault! Categorically not their fault! They can't help but waste time in figuring out what life is all about and why they are meant to play such undesirable roles. They need to feel better, and hence they begin to analyze life - to find out if something worthwhile can be achieved by them, to find out if at any point of time they can quit being laughed at... being embarrassed... untangle themselves from the web of hoodoo. Their quest begins, they seem to never find an answer for the way their lives are happening. Much of their time is going wasted but they need to importantly feel better than doing anything elze in life! They do not want to call it a hoodoo - after all they are only trying to feel better! They begin to presume its just a part of life and then they suddenly realize its been that way for the past 20 years, it cant be just a “part” of life!

Even as sometimes they are happy, by the end of the day they can't help but sit back and think about what life is all about... with tears in their eyes. Ironical it may seem, but they are only afraid the hoodoo is soon going to be back! They begin to presume that happiness and they don’t get along very well, or rather its not them to be happy at all! Sad everyday of their life may become with their own good hands they push the happiness away, they are still not sure if its meant for them, or for how long it would stay. They are scared to own it because they are some how sure they’ll very soon lose it! How are they so sure? Their instinct? A True one that too? If its true then this truth is graver than death, brings more sadness than death would. Guilt would seize them when they are happy , tears would flood them when they are sad, and they go insane when they cry … all of it unknowingly and unwantedly happening with them.

Thomas Edison had invented the bulb. After 99 attempts of course! It wasn’t a failure one bit but because finally the solution gave in on the 100th attempt! He successfully got the answer after the 99 attempts. But to them, the question struck them a billion times, and each time it struck them further and further; it quivered, it seemed very familiar and yet so new and strange, it looked light but felt so heavy in their heads. It gives them sleepless nights and the next day they are tired and indolent, their faces drawn long. This killing thought process blunts their facial features too… clearly proving it’s physical consequences. It's the beauty they have always craved for, but the thought they would always cling to and never leave, would eat it away. They stand their helplessly looking at themselves in the mirror, gazing at their red eyes with bags under them and still trying to figure out or read what they are trying to see or tell.

Have you ever felt paralyzed or crippled by fear? As a
businesswoman, producer, and model through my various
business ventures, I’ve felt fearful from time to time. And I’m
sure that, like me, you’ve found that you can accomplish little
when you’re afraid -- and almost nothing if you let fear of
what might happen seize you. Fear freezes the mind,
erases possibilities and clouds opportunities; and it makes
most matters we’re fearful about seem disproportionately
greater than our ability to deal with them.

However, I’ve learned that you and I have the ability to put
fear in its rightful place -- a place where we don’t have to
stay. Yet sometimes situations we’re frightened about have
to get worse before things can get better. Sometimes not
until something or someone hurts us and/or wounds us
badly or deeply enough do we realize that we have to go
beyond fear to make a change.

I remember vividly some of the most unpleasant challenges
I’ve had to face to earn respect and defeat fear. In 1987, I
moved from my homeland, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to
Vancouver, Canada, to continue high school for
post-secondary education. I found myself a stranger there --
a funny looking "foreign" girl with a bad haircut and poor
English skills. And soon, I became the prime target for the
supposedly "cool" high school kids around me to
antagonize. And believe me, they did their best to make my
life miserable. I couldn’t hide from them; they seemed to be
everywhere, taunting me. They’d throw objects at me from
behind my back; they’d push and trip me when I wasn’t
looking. They’d sabotage my every chance to be part of any
extra school activity I wanted to pursue; they’d point at me
and laugh, call me names, and torment me in countless
other ways, too.

But because I was extremely unfamiliar with Canadian
culture and lifestyles, and for fear that I might say or do
something wrong, I decided I’d just tolerate the situation.
Though I was already a competitive martial arts fighter in the
process of earning my second black belt in Karate, (a sport
I’ve been involved in since I was eight years old), I didn’t feel
that I should utilize those skills. Again, I feared I might
provoke my tormentors further and possibly even incite them
to extend harm to my family.

So during most of those high school years I allowed
emotions like fear, loneliness, anxiety, anger and sadness
to consume me. Yet eventually even those feelings,
however negative, forced me to find courage to turn my
situation in positive directions, and as a result I can now
help others in similar circumstances to do the same.

I decided that every time my tormentors tried to start a fight
with me, I would look each of them in the eyes and just
calmly walk away. What worse could happen than that
they’d push me, laugh and call me names? However, one
afternoon, things did turn worse.

That afternoon I felt a couple of small objects hit the back of
my head. As usual, bursts of laughter behind my back
followed, and I continued on my way, refusing to even
acknowledge this petty behavior. But this time I made no
effort to keep my eyes on my tormentors as I walked away.
Suddenly one of them decided to run up and strike me in the
left eye. In an instant, I realized that she had crossed a
boundary and endangered a vital organ of my body, and this
I simply couldn’t ignore. Before she could blink, with a
crowd of students as my witnesses, I unleashed a kick that
dropped her to the ground. Quickly, two of her friends
leaped at me to defend her. Soon they, too, were picking
themselves up, and then all three made a run for it, leaving
me standing there. Now I began to feel the throbbing pain
in my left eye -- and discovered that it was bleeding.

For many years, I’d tried to avoid confrontations with my
tormentors. But that afternoon they’d made confrontation
inevitable, and I had put fear aside and finally let them know
who I truly was. Now I wondered what the consequences of
my retaliation would be.

Shortly after the fight I was called into the principal’s office.
There I was told that the three girls who started the fight had
been suspended from school. The other students who’d
witnessed the encounter had reported the story of the attack
and my self-defense. Luckily for me, they all supported my
actions. I was free to return to class unpunished.

After that day, things took a clear turn for the better. My
"tormentors" stopped harassing me; from then on they only
looked away whenever I passed by them. When a new
school year began, some of them left to attend different
schools, though some of them remained at my school.
Some of them even stopped being each other’s friends --
and others decided to start greeting me with smiles. That
year -- my last -- in high school, I finally was able to make
some good friends, direct numerous extracurricular
activities, coach the basketball and volleyball teams and
even serve as captain of the cheerleading squad.

As my life has unfolded since then, throughout my varied
career I’ve had many fortunate opportunities to assist
diverse groups of women through some of their own
challenging moments in life. Of course, through these
experiences, I’ve broadened my own knowledge about
career, socializing, love, relationships, family and much
more. Along the way I’ve been able, in turn, to assist,
inspire and empower a great number of women along their
journeys in life, for which they’ve pointedly thanked me in
one way or another. And whether they know it or not, their
exercise of courage that made their lives better, plus their
trust in me, have been all the thanks I’ve ever needed.
They’ve truly inspired me to constantly grow, transform and
become a better person.

A few years ago, while I was out of town, Lidiya, an assistant
in one of the companies I founded, hired two new recruits to
join our team. She formally introduced me to them when I
returned from my trip. One recruit happened to be a chief
"tormentor" of mine from high school.

She didn’t recognize me until Lidiya introduced me by my
first and last names. Then, my former tormentor’s jaw
dropped and her face froze. But I reached out and shook
her hand and welcomed her to our team. Later, she
approached me abashedly and tried to apologize for what
had happened in the past. I told her not to worry; it was
quite all right with me. To help her feel comfortable, I then
took her out for lunch. When we got back to the office, I
jokingly told her, "Get back to work now!" and we laughed
together. Since then, she’s become one of my most
cherished workers.

Can you see how learning to make the best of every
situation, including that painful one at school, has led me to
discover something great -- that courage begins with
character? Courage not only means being able to do
something new, it also means being able to be someone
new. The ultimate measure of a person is not where they
stand in moments of comfort, but where they stand in times
of challenge and controversy. I’ve come to learn that
growing into a good, solid character requires rising to levels
of self-esteem that so many of us doubt we have.

One way by which you can enhance your own self-esteem is
to do as I did, and make it really clear to those around you
who you truly are. When you know who you truly are, and act
based on who you truly are, you’ll realize, as I did back then
in high school, that no one can harm you unless you choose
to keep them around and allow them to trouble you.

That which you desire to remove from your life is a blessing that you haven't yet learned to appreciate. For life does not send misfortune upon you it sends you only love. Just because you cannot see the gift doesn't mean the gift is not there.

So where are the gifts in your life? Take a moment to write down every situation, person or circumstance that you currently see as something you would like to change or remove from your life. This isn't about seeing the “lesson” in a situation. Seeing problems in your life as lessons only contributes to negative feelings about the situation and puts them in the context of being punishments for past behaviour.

What you are going to do is transform these situations from a negative experience into a positive one that is a real gift from heaven. Being blessed by the universe is more than just seeing the good in the bad. It's believing that everything is good and it's just our perception of it that allows us to think it's not. Every event has a purpose that serves us even if we don't understand how at the time.

I used to be programmed into chronic negative thinking. That of being happy only when things were occuring as I wished them to. Whenever something unexpected happened I would be in tears wondering why the universe was punishing me and asking what had I done to deserve this?

Emotions rule when it comes to manifestation. If your victim response is more emotionally charged than your creator (I am the creator of my reality) response you'll create more victim type situations in your life. That's just how it works. But here is a wonderful, easy and instant way to turn negative thinking around. Whenever something unexpected happens before you spiral down into “why me?” say out loud

“What a blessing...”

Here's an example. Let's say you've made yourself some toast for breakfast and on the way to the table the plate slips and your toast goes buttered side down on your new carpet. That's when you immediately say...

”What a blessing I still have my coffee!”

Or maybe you're running late for work and the last bus that can get you there on time leaves just as you approach the bus stop.

“What a blessing I can relax and plan my day while I wait for the next bus.”

This practice stops the negative emotions dead and makes your creator emotions of happiness, gratitude and receiving stronger. Within a very short period of time you'll discover that life brings you fewer unwelcome surprises because you're creating fewer of them. Your life will turn around from being one plagued by “bad luck” to one full of delightful events that bring you joy.

Ancient lore tells us that there’s a magical genie who lives in a lamp and
the person who possesses that lamp has the power to invoke wishes
and desires beyond our wildest dreams.

If I told you that Genie lives in you, would you believe me? Maybe not.

But if I told you that there was another character who lives in you and
complains, whines and was negative about your day to day life as well
as your dreams, would you believe me then? I’ll bet you would.
Because we are all far too familiar with this character whom I call the
Gremlin.

The Gremlin is that part of you who keeps your fears, anxieties and
doubts alive and well. His entire purpose is to maintain control over you,
keeping things status quo even if you’re not happy with the status quo.

He believes his purpose is to keep you safe by not allowing you to take
risks, speak up for yourself or create changes in your life that you know
in your heart need changing. And, he definitely wants to make sure the
Genie doesn't make an appearance. Because once the Genie shows
up, the Gremlin knows he's no longer in charge.

For way too many years I lived with the Gremlin as the one in charge
until I learned how to quiet him enough to awaken my Genie Within
making him my full time partner and only allowing my Gremlin to visit
occasionally.

Now you may ask, “Why allow the Gremlin to visit even occasionally?”
Because it’s important to realize your Gremlin will always be there.
You’re human and it’s only natural to have both negative and positive
thoughts show up throughout your life. But the trick is, to be aware of
your Gremlin when he’s around so you can consciously quiet him
enough to allow yourself to feel a little bit better about a situation and
give the Genie Within the chance to come to the surface and help you
find better solutions, ask different questions and attract into your life
more of what you do want, not what you don't want. Which, by the way, is
what the Gremlin does. Attracts what you don't want.

To get you started in shifting from your Gremlin thinking to your Genie
thinking I’d like to share with you 5 Tips To Quiet Your Gremlin and 5
questions to Awaken your Genie Within.

1. Let your Gremlin be when he starts up with you.
Focus more on your body and see where he’s showing up in your body.
Does your head hurt? Is your neck stiff? Is your stomach in a knot?
Breathe into those areas until you feel some relief.

2. Give your Gremlin permission to rant and rave for a bit.
Don’t judge him, don’t panic over what’s being said or resist anything.
Just let it be. Allow all the Gremlin’s ranting to pour out. Sit back and
enjoy it for a change. Put a smile on your face as you listen calmly.
Separate yourself from that Gremlin who’s doing all the whining and
complaining.

3. Ask him questions.
Get as intimate as you can with him. Find out what sets him off. Then
give him answers as if you were talking to a four year old trying to calm
him/her of the dark before falling asleep.

4. Pick a name for your Gremlin and talk to him out loud.
Using his name, tell him everything is going to be fine and he can take a
rest for now. Keep talking to him until he’s less noisy. Talking out loud
will create a shift inside of you that won’t happen when you just think
about the conversation. By the way, my Gremlin’s name is Gertrude.

5. Be gentle with your Gremlin.
Visualize your arm around him, soothing him, comforting him, allowing
him to rest his head on your shoulder. Remember, he’s scared, he
doesn’t want you to fall down and he believes he’s doing what’s best for
you.

Once your Gremlin is under your control this is when you want to
connect with the Genie within. Your Genie is that part of you that creates
comments, ideas and questions that allow you to feel like your moving
forward instead of being stuck. He’ll have you feeling better about
yourself overall.

5 Genie Questions

1. What’s working in my life for me?

2. What’s my intention in this moment?

3. What wants to be born from this?

4. What would be my best choice at this time?

5. What can I do for myself right now to feel a little bit better?

Your Total Image is made up of several essential components:

• Your Hidden Image – attitude, honesty, confidence, self-esteem, knowledge, ability and experiences

• Your Reputation – what others think about you based on past experiences; often second or third-hand

• Your Visual Image – dress, grooming and external factors

• Your Experienced Image – your expressions of courtesy and caring, your body language and communication skills

• Your Proven Image – personal experience with you over time

These areas must be considered and managed to ensure long-term success in your professional and personal life. In this article, we’ll discuss one aspect of your Total Image: Your Hidden Image.

Your Hidden Image is made up of your attitude and how you treat others. If you consistently have a negative attitude, people will begin to avoid you. You will repel potential customers, and develop a poor sense of confidence and self-esteem.

It all starts with your attitude – even if things aren’t going exactly the way you want them to, having a negative attitude will not change that. It probably will make things worse. Make a deliberate effort to turn your attitude from negative to positive, and you’ll see your mindset and circumstances change as well.

Honesty is essential to your life as an entrepreneur – if you are consistently honest and fair in dealing with current and potential customers, you will develop a reputation that will bring you even more business.

We’ve all heard the story that a happy customer will tell 3 others about their good experience with your business, while an unhappy customer will tell 7 others. You can be sure that news of dishonesty in your business practiced will travel than the speed of light – always be honest with your customers.

Confidence and self-esteem are very attractive qualities. When a client comes to you looking for the solution to a problem, your projection of confidence and self-esteem will put them at ease and reassure them that you are the one to help them solve their challenges.

If you do not project confidence, your client may doubt your ability to help them, and may even try to get you to lower your fees. You must project absolute confidence in your abilities and the value you provide – your clients expect nothing less and you should accept nothing less from yourself.

Knowledge and ability, combined with experience, are an essential combination for an entrepreneur. When you know that you can solve a client’s problem based on your ability and experience, you project professionalism. You know what to do and are able to give your client the guidance they are willing to pay good money for.

These aspects of your image are portrayed physically through many factors – whether or not you make eye contact when talking to clients, that you stand or sit straight and have a confident posture, and your attire. It’s hard to be successful in convincing a client that you are a professional when your attire, body language and image don’t reflect that.

In part 1 of this series, we discussed your Total Image and the first of several essential components – Your Hidden Image. This month, we’ll continue discussion your Total Image with the second component: Your Reputation.

Your Reputation can be defined several ways – according to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English language, there are three main definitions:

1. The general estimation in which a person is held by the public.

2. The state or situation of being held in high esteem.

3. A specific characteristic or trait ascribed to a person or thing, i.e. a reputation for courtesy.

All that said, your Reputation is one of the most valuable assets to your business and personal life. You must know – and be concerned with – what others are saying about you. Not to the point of obsession, but it is important to know how you are seen in your community.

One of the fastest ways to destroy a good reputation is to become known as someone who does not follow up their words with actions. Too often in today’s society, business professionals who you hold in high esteem do not earn that standing because they don’t follow through on what they say they will do.

How do you treat your clients? Can you state confidently that you treat all your clients with equal respect and courtesy? When trying to establish rapport and a relationship with a potential or new client, it is essential that you listen thoroughly and completely to what they are saying as well as what they are NOT saying.

Even after you’ve established a rapport with a potential client, never leave them feeling brushed off or unappreciated – they are likely to dwell on the experience and as in our previous installment, not only feel badly about how they’ve been treated, but tell 7 others about the treatment they received.

One of the ways you can encourage trust, respect and courtesy with clients is to maintain eye contact during your conversation. Your eyes are one of your most essential and important communicators – they speak volumes without you ever saying a word.

Looking your client straight in the eye communicates confidence, honesty and interest – all qualities you’d like them to associate with you and your business. Try to take brief breaks in your eye contact so the interaction doesn’t become confrontational – you also need to gauge the other person’s reactions and allow them time to respond.

Your Visual Image is equally important to your success as an entrepreneur – though you may see certain clients infrequently, there are many other aspects of your Image that must be dealt with: how your promotional materials reflect your business status and expertise, and even how you answer the phone.

As a rule of thumb, consider investing one month’s income (not profit, income) per year into your professional wardrobe. Knowing you look good will go a long way toward helping others to treat you with the respect due your professional status. Take some time to choose your professional wardrobe, and build in some time and dollars for inevitable alterations.

Clothing is mass-marketed to an ‘average’ body type, size and height that may not even exist outside the world of ‘fit models’ used to check garment construction. If you are like me and have a ‘real’ body versus one of those airbrushed creations from a fashion magazine, you’ll find that most clothing won’t fit perfectly off the rack. Take the time and invest in alterations that won’t add a ton to the cost of your clothing, but will make a huge difference in how you LOOK in the clothing.

Every day, you can make slight and subtle changes in your look that will move you from ‘everyman’ or ‘everywoman’ into the ‘stylish, professional and business-appropriate’ category. Take something you’ve previously worn (or recently purchased) and study it in detail.

This could be a suit, shoes, undergarments or accessories – try to see them with new eyes and use new combinations to create fresh looks with little or no cash outlay. Use your accumulated knowledge to purchase a business appropriate but different look the next time you go shopping, and don’t forget – there are image professionals all over the U.S., Canada and the world who stand ready to assist you in creating a Total Image that reflects your professional status.

In the first parts of this series, we introduced the concept of your Total Image, and discussed Hidden Image, your Reputation and your Experienced Image. This article, we’ll continue the discussion of your Total Image with the fourth component: Your Proven Image.

Your Proven Image is you experienced over a period of time – it can either build on or derail a positive first impression. Consistency in your self-concept, your reputation and your experiences with others will help to build a Proven Image that is an asset instead of a liability. Some factors to consider:

1. Interpersonal relationships – are you taking time to acknowledge and appreciate others – even those who can’t hire you directly? A consistently friendly approach will be reported favorably throughout your community and help you gain more clients in the long run.

2. Working style – do you work toward consistent delivery times for specific projects? Do your clients know what to expect for typical project turnaround times? Taking 3 days to complete a specific type of project one time, and then taking 2 weeks for the same type of project the next time will cause uneasiness with your clients and make you seem less dependable.

3. Advertising & Promotion – have you developed a consistent message for your advertising and promotions? If you use a consistent group of fonts and colors in your advertising, marketing and promotions, you’ll develop a consistent visual identity that will tie in to the image of your company and its services over time. Your clients should be able to tell easily if a particular advertisement is for your company or not.

You must, as an Independent Professional, take care to make the last exposure to you, your business or your expertise as valuable and positive as the very first one. Consistency is vital for creating valued business relationships.

In the initial meeting with a client, which may be in person or at their company, work toward showing interest and courtesy to everyone involved in that client’s business. You can never know whether individual who appears to be an ordinary employee is in reality one of the principals of the business!

Your initial meeting sets the tone for the future relationship with that client, and you want to be confident, yet not disrespectful.

If you strive to complete projects for a new client within 24 – 48 hours initially, and later let that time frame slide to 5 or even 7 days without a very good explanation, the client will begin to wonder why they aren’t getting the same excellent service that they got at the start of their relationship with you.

Always be sure to under-promise and over-deliver where your clients are concerned. Wouldn’t it be better for a client to say “I always get my jobs delivered early from XYZ Company – they go to the trouble of making sure their work for me is never late,” than for that same client to say “Well, my response time with XYZ company depends on what else they’ve got going – if it’s a busy time for them, we might not be able to nail down a delivery date.”

Consistency should also be present in the way you look for new clients – advertising and marketing plans are as distinctive as the businesses they serve. Local or regional networking events can provide a fertile testing ground for new client approaches, within a consistent framework and identity for your business. If you are trying out several different approaches to new clients in your target market, you would do well to concentrate on one at a time.

That same consistency should be present in the number and type of networking groups you commit your time to – be choosy in this! You have a limited amount of time to network and develop new business – make sure that the networking group you belong to is one that will support your established identity and reinforce the consistently professional image you have developed.

A consistently polished and professional Visual Image goes hand in hand with your Proven Image. If you are elegantly dressed for a public event and the next time a potential client sees you is in your sweatpants and t-shirt, be prepared for that client to be shocked and to think twice about your professional status – even if (or especially if) they don’t mention it! No matter what the event, try to carry forward a theme that relates to your business and your market in your visual presentation.

If the majority of your client base are banks and other conservative industries, be sure that your image reflects qualities they consider desirable, and that you are consistently well dressed. That doesn’t necessarily mean expensive garments, but it does mean that casual attire (even business casual) may be unacceptable.

A primary market of small businesses and other entrepreneurs might mean that you can be less formal with your personal visual presentation, but you should still strive for a business-like appearance. Again, consistency is the key – your visual image speaks to so much more than just what colors you like to wear.

If credibility and authority are of primary importance when dealing with clients, then stick to the medium-to-dark shades in your personal color palette, along with clean, simple lines in your clothing and equally simple lines in your accessories.

If likeability is of primary importance in your relationships with clients, then business attire in the lighter shades of your personal color palette along with more whimsical or personally significant accessories will give a greater sense of your personal taste and make you seem more approachable and friendly.

What will it cost you if you don’t do it?

Everyone has a secret dream that they nourish in their hearts.

Yet many of these dreams never emerge beyond mere wishful thinking.

I’d like to challenge you to consider what will happen if you don’t unwrap your dream and let it fly free in the world.

Perhaps you’re afraid, or comfortably numb, or confused about how to make your dream come true.

So, naturally, you just keep putting it off, letting it become unreal, and letting it slip into the mists of oblivion.

But what will it cost you if you don’t fulfill your dream or make an effort at it?

What will it cost you if you don’t quit that job that you hate, break away from that suffocating relationship, or continue to let your waistline expand and your self-esteem to plummet? What will it cost you if you don’t resolve whatever is heartbreakingly wrong with your world? What will it cost you emotionally, mentally, psychologically, and even physically?

Are you paddling your canoe toward Niagara, waiting for some passing angel to pull you over to the shore before you plunge over the edge?

Often it seems safe not to act.

Yet this is possibly the most dangerous thing that you can do.

Apathy and inertia, routine and conformity, indifference and resistance—these are the weeds slowly devouring the secret treasures buried in the garden of your heart.

How much longer will you tolerate the unlived life, the unmanifested destiny, the discarded hope, the abandoned vision?

Time is passing; your life force is ebbing away. How many more seasons must come and go, before you realize that your life is much more than you’ve been daring to express?

Seize the dream, my friend, before time and tide steal away your life.

What will it cost you, if you don’t decide, don’t act, and don’t manifest your particular vision in the world? How much more pain can you stand before you seize the day?

Imagine, alternatively, what it would be like to achieve success!

I saw a coaching client recently who wanted to get right down to business and plan out her new, bold life. She wasn’t sure what that life was, but she wanted to map it out, pin it down, and make it happen. She looked at me with exhausted eyes and silently begged me for light. I wanted to tell her, "Put down your organizer and step into chaos." But she may have smacked me with that eight pound black leather daytimer, so I chose another way to suggest that she let go of the reins. The life that you can control is a small, tired, and desperate life. If you want to know a great big ease in your life, you can’t drive the bus. Your soul drives that bus. And your soul has different definitions of direction and progress.

Still, that pesky old head can get in the way. How long will this take? Do you know where you’re going? What if you stay stuck forever? These are just some of the enlightening questions the mind likes to ask before breakfast. Then it really gets going. And as clever and insistent as it is, your mind or “the monkey mind” as Buddhists often say, is not the navigator of this journey of the heart. The heart has different paradigms and portals through which transformation takes place.

That’s why I’m not a big fan of programs that promise you change in 8 easy steps or just 30 days. The inspired life defies a blueprint or a schedule. And we make ourselves crazy when we allow the mind to measure the progress of a journey we don’t even understand.

So, put down your daytimer and take your time. Surrender has its own rules and they are different than our conditioning. If you want to fly and dance, then let me offer you 3 insights about how to "step into chaos" or unfold the life of your dreams….

1. Surrender your Presumptions

A student of mine recently visited Italy and she told us about an American man who kept speaking louder in a café because the waiter didn’t understand him. The patron was obviously annoyed that the waiter didn’t speak fluent English and that the restaurant didn’t serve a particular item. Basically, the American expected Milan to be a carbon copy of Chicago. He expected the foreign to be familiar. He expected things to run the same. Are you doing that in your experience? Are you imposing your "rational" standards on this exotic journey of the heart? In This Time I Dance! I said, "You won’t find the secret notes to a saxophone life with a bookkeeping mind." Are you pushing away your experience instead of delving into it?

If you want a life that feels different, you will have to do things that feel different. You can’t seek for change and control at the same time. If you want passion and poignancy in your life, you may need to let go of predictability. This is an unfolding journey of trusting in a more vigorous power than that of your own mind. Forget your project management skills and your tidy agendas. You’re in the soup of soul discovery. Lean back, observe the noodles, and ride the broth. You will not be the one who changes your life. Instead, you will be the one who allows life to change you.

2. Welcome Bewilderment

All true change begins with uncertainty. If you’re on a well-marked highway, you’re lost. This isn’t a journey of staying on the road you know. This is about getting off at the next exit and wandering around in the field. You can only redefine yourself by first letting go of old definitions.

One of my favorite poets, Galway Kinnell, says, "And the first step shall be to lose the way." This doesn’t sound helpful to a linear mind. And it’s not--to a linear mind. But it is inevitable to a creative mind. You are larger than your current life. You are stronger than your present circumstances reflect. You will have to step out of familiar territory, to create something new. The new life is on the other side of the fence. So allow yourself to feel some discomfort. Don’t run for cover just yet. Every time I’ve grown into the next part of my life, there was a period of feeling vulnerable, naked, and disoriented. But I found my solid ground by stepping into this murkiness. If you avoid vulnerability, you prevent healing and creativity. Yes, it’s painful to be confused. But it’s worse to be stagnant.

3. Inhabit the Present

Here’s what I’ve discovered again and again. There is clarity in the given moment, but not the future. You can’t see the outline or agenda or how your whole life will unfold. But you do know what feels right to do or experience in this moment. I know you sometimes don’t feel like you do. But you do. If you were listening to yourself and not pushing away anything that you feel or think or know, what would you choose to do in this moment? I know you know. It could be take a nap, take a walk, make that call, write that screenplay, or do nothing. You may be judging what you feel, resisting the instinct of your heart, or thinking that what you receive doesn’t look like a step. But I assure you that if you knew you couldn’t do it wrong, that anything you felt like doing would bring you to your next horizon, you’d know what to do.

All fear occurs because you are thinking about the future or the past. If you are truly in the present moment, there is no fear. And the present moment will tell you what to do. This is a moment by moment journey that leads to the momentous. Stay with your instincts. And remember, an inspired future comes from an inspired moment today.

And of course, this all comes down to trust, trusting the Universe, trusting yourself, trusting the moment. But that’s what it’s all about. Because when you have trust, you don’t need control. And then you can step into ease, grace, and a creativity that will blow your mind. And that’s what we’re here to do.
