Thermalabs Glow 2 Go Best Tanning Towels Review

I'm back to talk about another sunless tanning review. I have used many, many different kinds of sunless tanning products. I've tried different brands as well as sprays, lotions, tanning mitts and sunless tanning mouse. The one sunless tanning product I had never tried and I have to admit I never thought I would try is sunless tanning towels. However I'm really happy that I did try them because they are one of my favorite sunless tanning products to use now. I don't use them alone but in addition to my sunless tanning routine. However they could very well be used solo and nothing else would be needed to perfect your glowing tan. In this blog post I'll talk about my review of the Thermalabs Glow 2 Go brand and how to use tan towels.

Overall I like to use a few different Self-Tanners & Bronzers in my own personal sunless tanning regimen but I know a lot of other people usually just use one. These tanning towels could be great used alone, even better for touch ups or if you're traveling and finally in addition or in part of your complete sunless tanning routine.

I've used other Thermalabs products, one of them being Thermalabs Organic Self Tanner Lotion, and I truly love the fake tan, sunless tanning line so it's no surprise that when I saw they make tanning towels as well I thought this would be the perfect brand to try for my first time using these sunless tanner towelettes. I was skeptical, I'm not sure why but I just felt like I wouldn't like this type of sunless tanning product. To my surprise though, I was very, very pleased with my experience.

I think that if you are looking for a clean sunless tan, where you don't have to worry about the bronzer rubbing off onto your clothing or sheets while you wait to shower it off then these Thermalabs Glow 2 Go Towelettes are 100% the way to go. I always carry a towel or two in my purse anywhere I go because you never know when you might be out somewhere and take a look in the mirror and realize that your sunless tan has worn off or is smudged in some place. As I mentioned these tanning towels do not have any bronzer, they go on completely clear but develop over just a little time. So you don't have to worry about opening up a towelette and having a big bronze mess.

If you've read my tanning blog in the past you might know that I have an unusual self tanning procedure. In the winter especially I will usually just use my favorite go to sunless tanning spray Body Drench Quick Tan Self Tanning Spray I'll use this in combination with any of my tanning lotions but usually I use one of my favorites, if not my most favorite, Thermalabs Organic Self Tanner Lotion. I'll rub the lotion on my arms and neck and use the spray for my face and back/shoulders and neck. In the spring and summer months however my tanning routine changes some and this is when I use the tanning towelettes even more.

I find if I want to do a whole body sunless tan using only the tanning towels it takes about two sunless tan towelettes. So my Thermalabs sunless tanning towelettes review would be an amazing one. I can't really think of anything negative to say about them except the fact that if they are something you want to use alone, year around it could probably get pricey, depending on how often you use them to re-tan yourself. I think for a good price you absolutely get your moneys worth. As far as tan towels where to buy them, well my go to 9 times out of 10 is Amazon. So if you are a huge sunless tan lover like myself give them a try!

Do At Home Airbrush Tanning Kits and Machines Work?

If you are like me and love, love, love your spray tanning regime and when possible you also like to DIY at home instead of having to go into the spray tan salon every week. If so then you might have thought of trying one of those mini airbrush tanning kits that you can use at home. The problem is they aren't cheap. Even at the lowest price these babies can make a small (or large) dent in your wallet. So it isn't a simple choice to go and spend a few hundred dollars to purchase an at home spray tan machine for yourself.

Lucky for all of you I have already been there, done that and am happy to share my experiences with you! First off I totally believe in doing this at home if it's possible. Most of the time it's easier and more affordable. That being said I have tried the at home spray tanning system and it did work okay but there was just a few main things that I didn't like.

First thing is that it can get pretty messy. I used to do it in our garage or sometimes our laundry room. I didn't buy a tent to go with mine so I can't personally speak on how those work. Cleaning the spray gun was a little annoying to do every single time as well. Now I bought one that I believe was around $150-$200 from Amazon. When you buy a product that is on the cheap side compared to other machines then you shouldn't expect to have a top quality experience with it and that's exactly how it turned out for me. The gun would get clogged at times and I would have to make sure that I cleaned it thoroughly after each use. Keep in mind too that you can't get wet after getting an airbrush tan! So that can be a bit challenging.

The main thing though that I want to share based on my experience is that I wish I would have spent just a little more money and got the HVLP spray gun. HVLP stands for high velocity, low pressure. You see the gun that came with my spray tan equipment is one of those small airbrush guns that they use to spray your nails when you go to a salon and get an airbrush design. If you can picture using that to do your entire body you might be able to imagine that the spot you spray is rather small and you almost have to do "lines" on your skin in order to cover it all, that can look blotchy and uneven. My boyfriend was able to get a spray gun that had a larger opening and sprayed a lot more bigger of an area (used a lot more solution too) and that worked better, a lot better. It was much messier though too! It was not an HVLP spray gun to my knowledge I think it was just a larger airbrush gun.

So to sum it up I would suggest that you definitely 100% go for a HVLP at home, spray tanning system as opposed to just a normal airbrush tanning kit. Based on my brief browsing of amazon it looks like you can get a decent HVLP kit, or just the gun if you already have an air compressor and DHA solution, for a pretty low price! Check out some of my personal recommendations below. I did do research to bring these Amazon spray tan listings to you so please feel confident that these picks are some of the better ones to choose from. Although I always welcome and urge you to do your own research as well. Between this blog post and your research I'm very confident that you will find the best airbrush spray tanning kit at a price that your budget will allow.

Tanning Bed Rash

There are risks that are associated with indoor tanning beds, one being a tanning bed rash. There are certain symptoms of a tanning bed rash that you may notice and this may include small, red pimples and blisters that appear on the skin, typically a few days after using the tanning bed.

You can develop a tanning bed rash which is similar to heat rash when you are in a tanning bed because your body gets very warm and irritated. A tanning bed rash can develop when using a tanning bed because of the intense heat generated from the strong tanning bed bulbs, often times within a small tanning room.

Treatment:
The most important thing to do is avoid getting a tanning bed rash to begin with, but since this is not always possible, you will want to be aware of the options that you have in terms of treatment for the tanning bed rash.
There are medicated creams on the market that you can use, and which will help to moisturize the skin and relieve the irritation of the tanning bed rash. If the rash is particularly bad, your doctor may suggest that you use prescription medication for a certain amount of time or that you go to a dermatologist for more severe treatment.
Keep in mind that your tanning bed rash actually may be caused from you taking a medication, so you will want to speak to your doctor and as well to the tanning salon owner to make sure that your medication is not going to cause any problems. Reactions that may occur include blistering or a painful skin rash and so if this does happen you should stop using tanning beds immediately until you have spoken to a doctor or at least until you are done taking your medicine. If it is a medicine that you are permanently taking you will have to find another option.but it is important that you do not continue to go tanning because you will only be making the tanning bed rash worse and this can end up causing you serious problems. Make sure that if you are going to go tanning you take all the necessary precautions and be aware of the dangers and risks associated with it.

Tanning While Breastfeeding

There is no direct evidence that tanning while breastfeeding will cause any harm to baby. However in ideal situations it would be best not to tan. I say this for a few reasons, one is that the lotions you use to tan, especially indoor tanning lotions have many harsh chemicals. Tingle tanning lotions inparticular raise a red flag in my head because of the effects on an adults skin after using a tingler. If you have ever used a tingler in indoor tanning you know what I mean. The second reason is the risk of burning your nipples or breasts and this will make breastfeeding much more painful overall.

So if you do decide to tan in a tanning bed or in the natural sun please take extra precaution with your lotion you use. Either wash it off thoroughly after tanning or just cover your breasts and use no lotion at all on them. Either way, be safe, ask your doctor if you are still concerned and if all else fails just wait the extra year or two until you are done breastfeeding!

America's Best Organic Self Tanner Review

So I haven't been blogging on this tanning tips blog much lately but I want to start again! I want to maybe focus on the tanning lotions and sunless tanning lotions that I use and then review them for all of you! I personally really enjoy reading reviews because it helps me greatly in my decision of which product I should buy. I really hope that I'm able to help many of you that come to my site seeking advice, reviews and how-to's all about tanning and tanning lotions.

Today I'm going to write about a sunless tanning lotion that I started using about a month or two ago. From my experience it's the best organic sunless tanning lotion, not only that it might just be one of the best self tanning lotions in general not just from organic items. It's called America's Best Organic Self Tanner and it's made by Thermalabs. The first thing that attracted me to this is the fact that it's organic. More now than ever before I've learned how important it is to use organic as much as you possibly can and beauty products are no different or less important. Your skin is an organ and an entry point for toxins to get into your body. So it's just important to use organic when you can.

I've mentioned in some of my previous posts that I usually prefer a gradual sunless tanning lotion as opposed to one that goes on dark with a bronzer. I'll briefly tell you why. When I do use the self tanners with the immediate bronzer or color guide I, as everyone does, get the bronze color on everything it touches after. It is only for a few hours but still I like being able to apply and not have to worry about what I'm going to be rubbing up against. Now that's not to say I don't use the fast acting self tanning lotions and sprays because I definitely do but I just prefer to use the gradual color lotions more often. Plus they are lotion so they moisturize your skin. I apply a moisturizer daily usually anyway so why not use one that has a gradual tanning effect.

My favorite go to sunless tanning lotion used to be Body Drench Quick Tan sunless tanning lotion for a very long time and I still plan to use it because it's half the price of most of the other lotions like the America's Best Organic lotion however I certainly prefer the America's Best Sunless Lotion and I have been using it way more recently. I found that the reason I like it so much is because some lotions are either greasy feeling for too long or they are so not greasy that seconds after rubbing them in you can barely even tell that you put it on. This moisturizing sunless tanner is the perfect combination of both qualities! Plus it just has the smoothest texture I have ever felt in a gradual tanning lotion.

I find that I like to apply it to my face over any of the other brands. that might be because it's organic but it's also more than that. Another factor that has made me fall in love with this product is the smell. Now I've had ones that didn't smell bad or like DHA(the product that makes you tan and that smells like self tanner) that much but there is always a little bit of that smell in ALL of the one's I've ever used, until now. This sunless tanning lotion has no smell of that yucky sunless tan scent at all. You might think it's because maybe there isn't much of that ingredient in it but when I read the ingredients list it was very close to the top of the list which means it's a large portion of the lotion, from my understanding anyway. So how it doesnt smell is a mystery to me but I just know I enjoy it! The lotion has a very natural jojoba butter type of smell to it. I like to place a small amount in my hand between my fingers and rub it together using both hands to get it warm and slick feeling. Then I apply it to my face and neck. It's honestly heavenly lol... Can you tell that I am loving this stuff?

The final comment I want to make is that I am not being endorsed for this review or gaining anything, it is solely my 100% honest opinion and that is always what you'll get when you read anything on my blog. That's my promise to you!

We all know that tanning indoors or outside can be dangerous and have negative effects on your skin. Thankfully, there are sunless tanning lotions. It used to be that most of the sunless tanners were not very popular of a choice because they all tended to leave skin orange and streaky.

Well, no more worries, because today there are more than ever sunless tanning products that look extremely natural. Here's how sunless tanners work. The active ingredient is typically dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which reacts with amino acids on the outermost top layer of skin to produce a tan color without the sun. Look for DHA on the label.

The key to getting a beautiful bronzed look is to find the right sunless tanning product that is best for your particular skin type. One might work great for someone else but may make someone else look orange. You should always try out the product on a small portion of skin and see how it looks before using it all over. Also, try not to use a new sunless tanner right before a big event. That's just asking for trouble.

There are different ways to get a sunless tan. You can go to a salon and get a spray tan done. They are a bit more expensive but usually worth the cash. Spray tans look very real, and you can go to any shade you want. If you have a big event coming up, this is the option to go for. It's a guarantee, not a trial and error situation. Most people who are going to go the sunless tanning route will do it themselves, which is great. You will definitely save some money that way. Lotions and sprays work the best. Before applying the product you should shower and exfoliate. Exfoliation is important to remove all the dead skin cells before applying a sunless tanner. Try to apply evenly and use caution in areas such as the knees and elbows, where you can get blotchy easily. Remember, this is like a trial and error. You have to find the sunless tanning product that works the best with your skin type.

Spray Tanning

Sunless spray tanning or airbrush tanning is the newest popular thing in the tanning industry and for good reason. I would say up until about a few years ago I have always had a bad attitude or idea when it came to any type of sunless tanning and I think that's because many years ago I tried a few of the drugstore type tan in a bottle with bad results. When I finally got around to trying out sunless tanners recently I guess I could say I kind of got addicted!

What really started me on the sunless tan was airbrush tanning and the fact that I have light skin with many moles. If you don't know, moles + sun = skin cancer! So in search of something a little less life threatening I went to a local salon to be sprayed by a professional. It came out great and I loved it but it was expensive. So I started to experiment with different tanning supplies. I even bought my own airbrush machine! I probably should have done more research before spending almost $200 though because I don't use it anymore. Mostly because it doesn't cover a large enough area, it clogs and basically gives me different problems all the time.

From all of my trials I have come to conclude that using a mixture of gradual self tanner that is mixed in with a moisturizing lotion and a "tan in a can" so to speak. Like I said I have tried many, many different kinds of the self tanners and my absolute favorite would be the Body Drench Quick Tan Sunless Spray Tan. I also love, love, love the gradual self tanner by the same company. It is the ONLY one that I know of that actually smells kind of good, it's called Body Drench Quick Tan Tanning Lotion.

I usually use this lotion right after I get out of the shower. I use the dark one by the way, I think they have light, medium and dark. I stopped using the sunless tanning lotion for a few days and I could not believe how white and pale I was. I guess I didn't believe how much the gradual self tanning lotion was actually working! I think most women apply body lotion after their shower anyway so why not make it one that gives you a beautiful tan too. I also use it on my face and have had no bad experiences from it. I like to be a little darker though so after I use the lotion and let it dry a few minutes I then use the sunless spray tanner. In the winter I just put it on my face and chest and sometimes arms but for the most part the lotion gets my arms as dark as I need them. In the summer though, I do use it on my legs and other parts and I do go through a lot of the stuff. If you don't have the money to afford that then just use it less often or only on certain areas. You will have to find what works for you individually.

I plan to write more on this topic in later posts but I'll leave you with this for now. It's the basics anyway. I want to add that I DO NOT work for any tanning companies, I truly just want to provide my knowledge and experience about tanning, tanning lotions and sunless tanners to help others in their quest for a beautiful tan! Using Eye Protection In Tanning Beds

One of the biggest mistakes that people make, myself included, is not protecting their eyes when tanning in a tanning bed, or even outside for that matter. I have to admit, that I am guilty of this myself. When I was younger, I didn't like the way I got white circles around my eyes from wearing tanning goggles in the tanning beds, so I just thought closing my eyes was good enough. Then other times I would wear them for half the time of my session and keep them off for the other half of my session.

Now that I am older and a little wiser, I always wear eye protection in the tanning bed. They even have super skinny tanning goggles, to cover the least amount of your eye, while still protecting your eyes from the harmful UV light. Also, some tanning salons offer stickers, I believe these are called "Wink-ease", that are specially made for your eyes. They kind of fold into a cone type shape and stick to your eyes, they work absolutely wonderful for showing no signs of white,"raccoon eyes", they are sometimes called. If all fails and you still feel like you have white circles around your eyes, use some sort of bronzer or make up, even a face moisturizer with a touch of sunless tanner in it.

Over exposure to UV light can cause great damage to your eyes if not protected,and believe it or not, just closing your eyes is not enough.

Here are eight facts about using eye protection in a tanning bed, that you must read.

1. Your eyes can get sunburnt! Tanning with no eye protection can cause red, itchy or watery eyes. These symptoms are all indications of short-term eye damage.
2. You can damage your eyes in just one tanning session! Even just one tanning session, without protecting your eyes, can be enough exposure to cause you short-term eye damage.
3. Two common forms of sunburned eyes
- Photokeratitis (a temporary corneal burn which causes tearing, pain and blurring for several days).
- Basal Cell Carcinoma (delicate eye tissue becomes damaged causing swelling and redness in and around the eye)
4. Closing your eyes is not protecting them! Your eyelids naturally block less than 25% of harmful UV rays from your eyes, and this will not protect you well enough.
5. You may also be at risk from eye disease. Sharing eye protection is one of the main ways that eye infections such as conjunctivitis are spread. Eye protection that isn't disposable is less hygienic and runs the risk of becoming contaminated.
6. Repeated exposure to UV light without eye protection can also cause long-term and even permanent eye problems.
7. Some damage caused to your eyes is irreversible! Long-term damage caused to your eyes include Diminished Color Perception (your sight will be dulled) and Reduced Night Vision. There is no cure for these.
8. Long-term exposure to UV light without eye protection seriously increases your probability of developing a cataract. This causes severe pain and even blindness. Surgery is the only cure for cataracts.
Wearing eye protection when you tan is one of the most important indoor tanning tips that there are. I hope this article convinces some of you to cover up those eyes. I know that when we're young we don't feel like we need to worry about things like this, but believe me, in a few short years you'll be wishing you had done a few things differently, don't make "wearing eye protection while tanning" one of them.

Using a tanning bed allows you to have a bronze body all year around, without worrying about spending all of your time in the sun. Tanning beds also let you control the intensity and the amount of light that you are exposed to.

Tanning beds really started gaining popularity in the United States in the 1980's. They were discovered by a scientist from Germany, named Friedrich Wolff. That is where the famous Wolff tanning beds originated.

There are basically two ways to tan, in a tanning salon or in the convenience of your own home. Home tanning beds can easily be purchased. You can purchase a tanning bed from an online retailer, direct from the manufacturer or some local stores will carry tanning beds. It is important that when purchasing a tanning bed for home use, that you get one that is specifically designed to be used in a home, versus one that is designed to be used in a salon.

There are many different tanning beds available. The most popular is the lay down tanning bed. There are also the stand up tanning booths. There is always some sort of protective cover usually made of Plexiglas, over the actual tanning bulbs. Tanning beds are made to be quite comfortable. Some come with a variety of features, including cooling fan, radio, misting fan and some even have air conditioning or aromatherapy to make your tanning experience as enjoyable as possible.

The type and number of tanning bulbs used in a tanning bed vary from bed to bed. Some beds have 48-60 UV bulbs that are each 100 watts. Other beds are designed to hold 24-46 UV bulbs that are between 100-160 watts each. The number and type of bulbs each bed uses, depends on the size and style of the tanning bed.

The 5 Different Types Of Indoor Tanning Lotion

If you have decided that you are going to go the indoor tanning route then you must use some type of indoor tanning lotion. Going in a tanning bed without using a tanning lotion just is'nt going to give you the full effect. It's worth it, to invest a few extra bucks in a good tanning lotion.

Indoor Tanning Lotions are broken up into generally about 5 different categories. They can, however be mixed together, for instance you can get an indoor tanning lotion with both a tingle factor and a bronzer in it, you see what I'm saying?

So I've put together a list of the different kinds of indoor tanning lotions that are available. Depending on your personal preference and skin type you can choose which tanning lotion is right for you. This should help you decipher between the different characteristics you see on your tanning salon shelf.

1. BASIC ACCELERATOR: These indoor tanning lotions are great for a beginning tanner with exceptionally pale or sensitive skin. Many of these have great anti-aging elements in them like CoQ-10. If you have especially dry skin, look for an aloe based formula with moisturizing hemp seed oil in it.

2. BRONZER: These are by far the most popular tanning lotions on the market. A few years ago, tanning companies stopped calling lotions bronzer and started competing to see "how many" bronzers they could fit into one lotion, thus hiking their prices to reflect their new breakthrough formulas. However, don't be fooled. There are still just two types of bronzers: immediate and delayed. Either way, make sure that you apply these lotions evenly and wipe your hands off as soon as you are done to avoid streaking your skin.

3. TINGLE: These feisty little lotions pack a lot of punch for a beginning tanner. Even the most frequent tanner can have trouble using tingle. These indoor tanning lotions stimulate your skin, causing it to redden and become irritated. This effect can last for hours and result in an uncomfortable burning and itching feeling. If you have small children, make sure you rinse off before touching them as these lotions can make them miserable. Despite all of these bad side effects, tingles remain the most effective tanning lotions. Combine them with a good bronzer, and you are sure to have a beautiful, dark tan in no time.

4. FACIAL TANNERS: The skin on your face is thinner and more sensitive than the rest of your body. Most indoor tanning lotions are not designed to be applied to your face. Opt for a special tanning lotion just for the face. Or, better yet, apply SPF to protect the face from tanning, and just use a great make-up bronzer to achieve a nice glow.

5. AFTER-TAN MOISTURIZERS: These tanning lotions are promoted as add-ons to your lotion purchase. They do a great job, but you can find better ones than the bottles that line your shelf at the local tanning salon. Any non mineral-oil based moisturizer will do, just make sure to apply it within five minutes of getting out of the tanning bed.

The Positive Effects of Tanning Beds

Before I get into this blog post I want to start by saying that this is simply some information that I have found and come across many times throughout my life. I want to remind you that anything done too much can be, and usually is bad for you. Remember moderation is the key, do things in moderation and don't go overboard. I don't want people to misunderstand what I'm saying in this blog post and take it as me saying, yes tanning is completely healthy and it will never hurt you, because obviously that is NOT the case. We all know that tanning in tanning beds or outside can be very harmful and should be done with caution. We always hear about tanning beds and skin cancer but rarely do we ever hear about any of the positive effects of tanning beds. I just want to bring to light some of those facts that many of us have no idea about. There are two sides to any story and all things have good and bad qualities. When making my decision to tan or not to tan I look at all of the tanning bed facts, which is exactly why I have a post on this blog about the dangers of tanning beds as well. Always weigh the tanning bed risks as well as the benefits and make an informed decision for yourself. With that being said let's get to the good stuff, my interesting and informative blog post about the positive effects of tanning beds.

So if the doctors know about these positive effects why are they telling you the exact opposite? They don't want you to get melanoma, right? Well according to a study done by Brigham and Women's hospital, the risk of melanoma does not change significantly by where you live. If you live in Atlanta you get more UV exposure than you get if you live in New York but you don't have a greater risk of melanoma.
