For example, you create a program that is used to perform calculations, the values entered by one user will obviously be different from the values entered by another user. This also means that, when creating the program, you cannot know all possible values that will be entered in your program. You should still be able to manage the values that the users will eventually enter in your program.&lt;/p&gt;     &lt;/td&gt;   &lt;/tr&gt; &lt;/tbody&gt;&lt;/table&gt;  &lt;p class="parajust"&gt;If you create a program used to perform calculations as introduced above, when a user enters a new value that would be involved in the calculation, to manage that value, you can (temporarily) store it in the computer memory. Since the values entered in a reserved memory area change regularly, they are called variables. Because neither you nor the compiler can predict all possible values that would be used, there are safeguards you can use. First, you must ask the compiler to reserve an area of memory for a value you intend to use. Asking the compiler to reserve an area of memory is referred to as Declaring a Variable. Remember that when you declare a variable, the compiler reserves an area of the compiler memory for you. Eventually, you can put the desired but appropriate values in that memory space.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class="parajust"&gt;After declaring a variable, when you need the value stored in its memory area, you can ask the compiler to retrieve it and hand it to you. To effectively handle this transaction, the compiler would need two pieces of information from you: a name of your choice for the memory area that will be reserved, and the type of value that will be stored in that area of memory. Based on this, the formula to declare a variable is:&lt;/p&gt; &lt;pre style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;&lt;i&gt;TypeOfValue&lt;/i&gt; &lt;i&gt;VariableName&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/pre&gt; &lt;p class="parajust"&gt;As done in some languages like Pascal or Basic, we will start with the name.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(51, 102, 255); font-size: 180%;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;" name="KonaBody"&gt;The Name of a Variable&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;p class="parajust"&gt;When you want the compiler to reserve an area of memory for some values used in your program, you must set a name, also called an identifier, that will allow you to refer to that area of memory. The name can be anything of your choice but there are rules you must follow:&lt;/p&gt; &lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;The name of a variable can be made of one letter (a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, or Z) only&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The name of a variable can start with a letter, an underscore "_", or the dollar sign $. The name cannot start with a digit. If the name starts with an underscore, the second character must be an alphabetical letter&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;After the first character, the name of the variable can include letters, digits (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9), or underscores in any combination&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The name of a variable cannot be one of the words that the Java languages has reserved for its own use. A reserved word is also called a keyword. Examples are age, f4, name,     g_14, country&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;When a name is a combination of words, only the first name will start in lowercase. Examples are firstName, dateOfBirth, pi_314159&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;When the name is an abbreviation, we will use uppercase on all characters.     Examples are EAU, UN, CIA, NSA&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(51, 51, 255); font-size: 180%;"&gt;&lt;span name="KonaBody"&gt;Variable Initialization&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span name="KonaBody"&gt;&lt;p class="parajust"&gt;After declaring a variable, you can store a value in the memory reserved for it. When you have just declared a variable, it may not hold a significant value. To know the value it has, you should put an initial value into that memory space. Putting an initial value is referred to as initializing the variable.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class="parajust"&gt;To initialize a variable, on the right side of its name, type the assignment operator, followed by the value you want to put in the reserved memory. As we will see in the next few sections, you cannot and should not put just any type of value in a variable. The attacker constructs frames by filling selected fields that contain addresses or identifiers with legitimate looking but non-existent values, or with values that belong to others. The attacker would have collected these legitimate values through sniffing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;MAC Address Spoofing&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The attacker generally desires to be hidden. But the probing activity injects frames that are observable by system administrators. The attacker fills the Sender MAC Address field of the injected frames with a spoofed value so that his equipment is not identified.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Typical APs control access by permitting only those stations with known MAC addresses. Either the attacker has to compromise a computer system that has a station, or he spoofs with legitimate MAC addresses in frames that he manufactures. MAC addresses are assigned at the time of manufacture, but setting the MAC address of a wireless card or AP to an arbitrary chosen value is a simple matter of invoking an appropriate software tool that engages in a dialog with the user and accepts values. Such tools are routinely included when a station or AP is purchased. The attacker, however, changes the MAC address programmatically, sends several frames with that address, and repeats this with another MAC address. In a period of a second, this can happen several thousand times.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When an AP is not filtering MAC addresses, there is no need for the attacker to use legitimate MAC addresses. However, in certain attacks, the attacker needs to have a large number of MAC addresses than he could collect by sniffing. Random MAC addresses are generated. However, not every random sequence of six bytes is a MAC address. The IEEE assigns globally the first three bytes, and the manufacturer chooses the last three bytes. The officially assigned numbers are publicly available. The attacker generates a random MAC address by selecting an IEEE-assigned three bytes appended with an additional three random bytes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;IP spoofing&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Replacing the true IP address of the sender (or, in rare cases, the destination) with a different address is known as IP spoofing. This is a necessary operation in many attacks.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The IP layer of the OS simply trusts that the source address, as it appears in an IP packet is valid. It assumes that the packet it received indeed was sent by the host officially assigned that source address. Because the IP layer of the OS normally adds these IP addresses to a data packet, a spoofer must circumvent the IP layer and talk directly to the raw network device. Note that the attacker’s machine cannot simply be assigned the IP address of another host X using ifconfig or a similar configuration tool. Other hosts, as well as X, will discover (through ARP, for example) that there are two machines with the same IP address.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;IP spoofing is an integral part of many attacks. For example, an attacker can silence a host A from sending further packets to B by sending a spoofed packet announcing a window size of zero to A as though it originated from B.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Frame Spoofing&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The attacker will inject frames that are valid by 802.11 specifications, but whose content is carefully spoofed as described above.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Frames themselves are not authenticated in 802.11 networks. So when a frame has a spoofed source address, it cannot be detected unless the address is wholly bogus. If the frame to be spoofed is a management or control frame, there is no encryption to deal with. If it is a data frame, perhaps as part of an on-going MITM attack, the data payload must be properly encrypted.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Construction of the byte stream that constitutes a spoofed frame is a programming matter once the attacker has gathered the needed information through sniffing and probing. There are software libraries that ease this task. Examples of such libraries are libpcap (sourceforge.net/projects/libpcap/), libnet (libnet.sourceforge.net/), libdnet (libdnet. sourceforge.net/) and libradiate (www.packetfactory.net/projects/libradiate/ ).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The difficulty here is not in the construction of the contents of the frame, but in getting, it radiated (transmitted) by the station or an AP. This requires control over the firmware and driver of the wireless card that may sanitize certain fields of a frame. Therefore, the attacker selects his equipment carefully. Currently, there are off-the-shelf wireless cards that can be manipulated. This article should be considered a brief tutorial as opposed to a whole walkthrough. If you're just starting out, taking notes on this article is a great place to get grounded in the fundamentals.&lt;br /&gt;Your first step will be to discover a theme, something in which you already have knowledge of or wouldn't mind writing about, while taking search engine popularity into consideration.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The second step when beginning a blog is to pick out a blogging service. There are many good services available. Two of these are TypePad.com and Xanga.com. Most of these make it easy for you to add revenue-growing ads, such as Google Adsense.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Third, you should determine the appearance of your blog. From the colors to the number of columns, those individuals who want to pull in a decent income from their blogs have to make sure that the blog's appearance is decent.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Those interested in starting a blog should also consider investing in an offline blogging client. These allow you to type your blog entries in a word processing format, similar to MS Word. This makes it less difficult for you to publish blog entries.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another great idea is to add 'bells and whistles' to your blog to make it more magnetic to visitors, and those who are frequent readers. Another good idea is to submit your best posts to Blog Carnivals. High quality posts on many topics are collected at these types of sites.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Adding content on a regular basis is the only way that your blog will get acknowledged. That's the overall message of our 2008 InformationWeek Strategic Security Study, which polled nearly 1,100 IT and business professionals about plans and priorities for securing their companies' assets.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Getting the money for security isn't the biggest problem: Fully 95% will see their budgets either hold steady or increase this year. It's that the money isn't making data safer. Sixty-six percent of respondents say their vulnerability to breaches and malicious code attacks is either the same as last year or worse. Since when is "no worse than before" an acceptable return on investment?&lt;br /&gt;Here's one illustration from our security study of how risk management can focus companies on the most important threats: Insecure coding practices are a pox on all our houses. Roughly half of respondents whose organizations have risk management plans in place specify security features at the time of application design. Of those without risk management plans, just 22% focus on code security.&lt;br /&gt;We need the jolt that this security study provides. Twenty-one percent of companies never conduct security risk assessments, and of those that do, just one in five imposes the rigor of using a specialized external auditor. This despite 63% contending with government or industry regulations related to data security, many of which don't give adequate guidance on how to comply. Best practices are the best defense in such gray areas.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Companies also are behind in implementing encryption to protect customer and employee data. We had hoped that the ongoing parade of high-profile data losses would set most companies on the road to comprehensive privacy protection. So we were discouraged that the only actions to safeguard customer data that are used by more than half of companies are ... informing employees of standards and putting a privacy policy on the Web site. Fine steps, but they don't exclude the need for encryption (used by 34%) or privacy policy audits (25%). Amazingly, 11% say they have no privacy safeguards for customer data. Zip. Zero.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We could go on, and we will. The effect of many of these personal online journals was to create small online communities of people around those diarists; who would sympathize, encourage and share their own thoughts and experiences. The social networking phenomena of later years was built on just this kind of social network.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As more and more people began blogging its reputation, as a medium for the mundane, changed. The private thoughts and intimate journals continue to this day, but the power of a medium which allows instant publishing, to potentially millions, has been slowly recognized and engaged with by millions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Today, you will find blogs on every topic imaginable; from the private angst ridden thoughts of an adolescent to the most up to date industry information by a computer industry insider, or a news reporter in a war torn country. It is the technology of blogging which has allowed these sites to thrive so greatly in such a, relatively, short period of time; to paraphrase Karl Marx: blogs allow the ordinary person to "seize the means of production"; they sidetrack all traditional production cycles and allow a creator to instantly publish whatever they wish.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The simplicity of most blogging platforms means that within a few short minutes even the most non-technical person can begin to publish their thoughts, opinions and ideas to the whole of the worldwide web. This is not an appeal restricted to the personal journalist, the ease of use of the platform means that news stories, industry updates and reviews can all be written out in text and published without the need to add any formatting or get to grips with file transfer protocols or html editors.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The simple, and instant, nature of blogs is really at the heart of their popularity and wide spread use. Partly because of this wide spread, and wide ranging use, blogs are often quickly available to search engines and will often rank well.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Search engine developers are generally agreed that, due to their "home made" and partisan nature, blogs are characteristically the source of unique, original and relevant content, which is regularly updated or added to. Fulfilling these essential criteria, blogs often appear high up on search engine results and frequently appear in results soon after creation.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is enhanced by the fact that most blog authoring tools allow you to blog and ping; what this means is that each time you add to or update your blog, the blog technology will automatically send a signal to a number of servers to let them know your blog has updated. Most website technologies do not include this function and, therefore, have to wait for the search engines to find their new content.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For all the reasons that blog platforms have become popular among diarists, reporters, reviewers and other writers, blogging has become popular among internet marketers. The instant nature of blogging allows a marketer to focus upon their message and not spend undue time formatting their site. All blogs, these days, allow an almost instant image change where a wide range of color, text, graphics and layouts are available to choose from.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This means a marketer can quickly and easily give their message a unique appearance and make instant changes if they change their mind. The blog and ping feature is also very popular among marketers. Now we need to zoom in, to do this select the tool that looks like the image below then move your mouse pointer onto the work area, then right click you will have a menu appear, now select zoom in and do this until the top bar say 100%.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now that you have the correct zoom level now we can begin to learn about graphics.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now that this is selected move your mouse pointer over to the work area then click and drag the square to your desired size, you will now have a square in the default colour, you can change the colour by selecting the pointer that has a white centre at the top of the toolbar then selected the square you just made, now that you have done this you will see a menu appear at the bottom of the screen, on the left of the menu there will be an icon that looks like a paint bucket and a colour box next to it, click on the colour box then select the desired colour, to get even more colours while on the colour menu click on the sys colour picker.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you remember back to when you selected the box from the toolbar, you may of seen an arrow next to the box, now select the box again but hold down your mouse button for a second and a drop down menu will appear, click on any shape you desire and stretch it out on the work area as you did with the box and repeat the colour steps until you feel comfortable with doing this.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Gradients &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As you have seen you have created shapes with a plain colour, but this will not always do, you may need to have a gradient colour on your images. To do this, follow these steps, firstly&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 Select the shape to have the gradient for example the square box&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2 Next look at the bottom toolbar that has just appear and you will notice that it says Solid next to the colour box, click on this then go up to gradient, then a sub menu will come up offering you what type of gradient you would like to use, for this example click Linear which is at the top.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3 Now this is done your shape will have a gradient but it may not be in the direction or colours that you wanted so that is what we will focus on now, for the colours you will see that there is no longer the word Solid in the box instead it is Linear, which means Linear gradient, next to this is the colour box and also that has changed incorporating more than one colour into the shape, click on the colour box&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4 Now you have selected it the menu above will appear, as you can see you have two colours blue and purple to change these simply click on the little box with the colour that you wish to change and select the colour you wish to have. You can add more colours in between if you wish this is done simply by clicking anywhere under the gradient bar and you will get another box to add colour too.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can also use the preset colours just by clicking under the word present on the drop down menu then selecting the colour scheme you wish to have.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now you have the colours you want you may want to change the direction of the gradient, to do this select the pointer tool at the top of the toolbar, this time use the one that is completely black, now you have done this select the shape, you will now see a line go through the shape, one end with a circle on it and the other with a square.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The side with the circle is where the gradient begins so if you wanted it to begin in the middle you would click hold down and drag it to the centre of the shape, or if you wanted it to start at the top you would drag the circle to the top, then when you have decided where you wish for it to start you will need to use the square tool, this is to set the direction of the gradient up down side to side or diagonal , and it also defines the length of the gradient, to do this click on the square and hold down and then move it around to get used to the feel of it, it moves all over the place, now for example if you wanted the gradient to go down instead of across you would of firstly moved the circle to the top and then dragged the square so it was facing straight down.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Down Gradient&lt;br /&gt;Diagonal Gradient&lt;br /&gt;Middle Centred Gradient&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When you are finished with the gradient simply select the pointer at the top of the toolbar filled with white and then select on any blank area on the workspace, remember to practise with the different colours and gradient types.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As well as gradients you can add other effects to your shape firstly patterns, this can be found on the menu where you select the gradient, but instead of going on gradient go on pattern and then choose the pattern you wish to use, if you want to use your own keep scrolling down to the bottom until you reach other then select it and browse for the pattern you wish to use.&lt;br /&gt;Remember to select the shape first&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As well as the gradient and patterns there is another option you can use, this is the textures menu, when you select the item you will seen a option that says texture select this and choose a texture.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;By default the textures opacity is at 50%, this basically means how visible it is over your shape, to make it higher or lower click the arrow next to the opacity amount and hold it down and then drag it up or down to the desired opacity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Practise with all the textures and opacities until you completely understand them&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;*note* if you select the image you can reduce the whole shapes opacity by sliding the shapes opacity meter up or down, this is found on the far right hand side of the menu after the shape has been selected.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you have a square shape you can make this more rounded very simply, to do this select the shape then on the menu that appears below click and hold the rectangle roundness meter until it is at the roundness you want.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Borders&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can also add borders around your images to make it stand out more if you wish, there are many border types and I will explain how to use them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When you have your image selected look down at the menu and find the border colour box, by default it will have a white background with a red line through it, select this then choose a colour, you can now see that you have a border around your shape.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You may also notice that next to in the number 1 has appeared, this is to indicate the size of the border, to make it bigger drag the menu slider up and down until you have the desired border width.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As well as the width you can also change the style of the border, select the border style selector as and select which style you wish to have, simple as that.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Font Styles&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Text in your document is highly important you need to tell someone about what it is your service or website is about, you can download fonts from sites such as 1001 free fonts once downloaded put these fonts into the following C:/Windows/Fonts/ , ensure you press F5 in the directory to refresh the newly installed fonts and reopen Fireworks Mx.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To input text on the document click the icon that looks like the one below and then click on the document where you want it to be.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now that you have selected the position on your page you will see a line flashing, now type in the text that you wish to appear. Once this is done select the pointer with the white bit in the centre, and then select the text by clicking it once, now you will get the menu at the bottom of the page.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are many other options on the menu but these are the only ones we will look at for now as the others are more advanced.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The maximum size font on the slide menu is 96, so what do you do if you want it bigger, well simply all you need to do is where it says the size, type in a size that is bigger for example 200 or whatever you want.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can also use the Scale tool which is found on the main toolbar to the left near the top,&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Firstly select the text with your pointer, then select the tool icon above from the toolbar, after this is done you will notice a border around your text with squares on it, move your cursor over one of these squares then you will notice your cursor changes, now this has happened click hold and drag the text to your desired size, this is the easier method to get the correct size text that you want.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Practise with the different fonts styles until you feel comfortable with them and can easily use them without many errors.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Drop Shadows&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Drop shadows can be used for text / images and pictures on the page.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To apply a drop shadow, select the item that you wish to use in this case a circle shape,&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Then click on the plus icon next to the word effects, then you have a pop up menu appear, now go to the sub category shadow and glow and then finally click drop shadow, you will then be presented with this menu, there are several options, try playing around with them until you get the effect you want.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Corner Shape Tweaks&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When you have a shape that you have made such as a rectangle, you can make the corner stand out a bit more, make a rectangle that is curved, this has previously been shown how to do, once this is done select the shape, then you will notice little square dots around the corners of the image, select one of them then you will get a warning message, click on the dont show again tick box then click ok. But&lt;br /&gt;this is of course not true in any way, yes its true the way a OS works&lt;br /&gt;depends on the setup and skills of the admin. But this does not mean&lt;br /&gt;that there are not a difference between Windows and Linux or the many&lt;br /&gt;different Linux OS out there (even that they share, the same kernel in&lt;br /&gt;some cases).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The main difference between windows and Linux is that Windows is&lt;br /&gt;closed source and Linux is Open Source, now some of you might think:&lt;br /&gt;yes, and?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Well, this means that with 3 party driver and suchs, you are able to&lt;br /&gt;install it directly into the kernel (core) of a Linux OS. But not with&lt;br /&gt;a windows, since its closed. This in return means that you will have a&lt;br /&gt;better integrated system with Linux, then with Windows and of course&lt;br /&gt;this has influence on your OS as a whole. It might get more unstabile,&lt;br /&gt;more slow and even have security risks on a windows.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are of course also other difference between the two like&lt;br /&gt;messenger in windows has a lot of ads, where in a Linux you are in a ad&lt;br /&gt;free desktop.
