Inspirational Incident

In the time of ‘Umar رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰعنه , there lived a very pious youngster who would spend most of his time in the Musjid. ‘Umar رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰعنه was very fond of him. Every night after esha salaah he would go to visit his elderly father. There lived a woman on that road that was infatuated with him and would constantly try to seduce him. One night he acceded to her request and followed her to her home. As he was about to enter, the thought of اللَّه سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى crossed his mind and the following verse came onto his tongue:

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا إِذَا مَسَّهُمْ طَائِفٌ مِّنَ الشَّيْطَانِ تَذَكَّرُوا فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْصِرُونَ ﴿الأعراف: ٢٠١﴾
Surely when the God-fearing are afflicted by any instigation from Shaytaan, they become conscious (of Allah Ta‘ala) and at once they discern (the reality).

There and then he fell down unconscious. This woman and her slave carried him and left him at the door of his father. After some time had passed, his father came out in search of him and found him lying unconscious at the door. Finally when he regained consciousness and explained what had happened, his father asked him: “Which verse was it that you recited?” When he recited the verse again, he fell unconscious for the second time. After trying to revive him, they realized that he had passed away. The funeral arrangements were made and he was buried that very night.

The next morning when ‘Umar رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰعنه learnt about it, he expressed regret that he was not informed. Thereafter he went to his grave and addressed him reciting the following verse:

وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ جَنَّتَانِ ﴿الرحمن: ٤٦﴾
And for the one who is fearful of having to stand before his Lord, there are two gardens.
The youngster replied from within the grave saying: “O ‘Umar! My Rabb has given them to me in Jannah twice.” (Taareekh ibni ‘Asaakir, vol. 45 pg. 450)

Lesson: The awareness and fear of اللَّه سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى are qualities which need to be acquired and cherished. They are the only force that can prevent one from immorality and vice and their rewards and benefits are immense, both in this life and the next.

A DU'A FOR YOU

O ﺂللَّــہ I beg Thee to grant me perfection of wudhoo and perfection of swalaah, perfection of Thy pleasure (towards me) and Thy forgiveness.

O ﺂللَّــہ give me my record of deeds in my right hand.

O ﺂللَّــہ grant me a shining face on the day when righteous persons will have shining faces.

O ﺂللَّــہ cover me with Thy Mercy and save me from Thy chastisement.

O ﺂللَّــہ keep my feet firm on the Day when feet will begin to waver.

The People of Paradise

The Deeds for Which People Will Deserve to Enter Paradise

The people of Paradise are the believers and strict monotheists. All those who associate others with Allaah or disbelieve in Him, or deny any of the principles of faith will not be allowed to enter Paradise. Their destination will be Hellfire.

The Qur'aan often states that the people of Paradise are the believers who do righteous deeds, to quote one of many examples:

"But whoever comes to Him as a believer and has done righteous good deeds, for such are the high ranks - 'Adn Paradise under which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever: such is the reward of those who purify themselves". [20:75-76]

* Believers may earn Paradise through their eemaan and Islaam:

"My worshippers! No fear shall be on you this Day, nor shall you grieve - who believed in Our aayaat and were Muslims, enter Paradise you and your wives in happiness" [43:68-70]

* Or because they were sincere in their devotion to Allaah:

"Save the chosen slaves of Allaah [al-Mukhliseen]. For them there will be a known provision, fruits and they shall be honoured, in the gardens of delight." [37:40-43]

* Or for the strength of their relationship with Allaah, their longing for Him and worship of Him:

"Only those who believe in our aayaat who, when they are reminded of them fall down prostrate, and glorify the praises of their rabb, and they are not proud. Their sides forsake their beds, to invoke their Rabb in fear and hope, and they spend [charity in Allaah's Cause] our of what We have bestowed on them". [32:15-16]

* Or for their patience and reliance upon Allaah Ta'ala:

"..Excellent is the reward of the workers, those who are patient and put their trust in their Rabb" [29:58-59]

* Or for their steadfastness in faith:

"Verily those who say "Our Rabb is Allaah" and remain firm , on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. Such shall be the Companions of the Garden dwelling therein: a recompense for their good deeds". [46:13-14]

* Or for their humility:

"Verily those who believe and do righteous deeds and humble themselves before their Rabb - they will be dwellers of Paradise to dwell therein forever" [11:23]

* Or for their fear of Allaah Ta'ala:

"But for him who fears standing before his Rabb there will be two Gardens" [55:46]

* Or for their hatred of the kuffaar and mushrikeen and their refusal to befriend them:
"You will not find any people who believe in Allaah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allaah and His messenger, even though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred . For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Ruh [proof, light and guidance] from Himself. And We will admit them to Gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein . Allaah is pleased with them and they with Him". [58:22]

Some aayaat discuss in detail the righteous deeds for which a person may deserve Paradise; for example, Surah ar-Ra'd states:

"But it is only the men of understanding who pay heed, those who fulfill the Covenant of Allaah and break not the mithaaq, those who join that which Allaah has commanded to be joined, , fear their Rabb and dread the terrible reckoning, and those who remain patient, seeking their Rabb's Countenance, perform as-Salaat, and spend out of that which We have bestowed on them, secretly and openly, and defend evil with good, for such there is a good end 'Adn Paradise which they shall enter and those who acted righteously from among their fathers and their wives, and their offspring. And angels shall enter unto them from every gate Salaamun ''alaykum for that you persevered in patience! Excellent indeed is the final home!" [13:19-24]

And at the beginning of Surah al-Mu'minoon, Allaah explains that success is for the believers and then described the deeds that will qualify them for success:

"Successful indeed are the believers, those who offer their salaah with khushoo', and those who turn away from al-laghw [dirty, false, evil, vain talk, falsehood and all that Allaah has forbidden], and those who pay the zakah, and those who guard their chastity, except from their wives or those whom their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; but whoever seeks beyond that then those are the transgressors; those who are faithfully true to their amaanah [all duties that Allaah has ordained: honesty, moral responsibility, and trusts] and to their covenants and those who strictly guard their prayers . These are indeed the inheritors who shall inherit al-Firdaws. They shall dwell therein forever" [23:11]

The Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Salaam) also said, "The people of Paradise are three: a ruler who is fair and just; a man who is compassionate and gentle towards every relative and Muslim; and a man with a large family who is proud and does not beg" [Muslim, see Sharh an-Nawawi 'alaa Muslim, 17/198]

The Way to Paradise is Very Hard

Paradise is very high, and ascending lofty places takes a great deal of effort. The way to Paradise is filled with things that go against human wishes and inclinations. This needs strong determination and willpower. In a hadith narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim from Abu Hurayrah (Radiyallahu Anhu) the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Salaam) said,"Hell has been veiled with desires, and Paradise has been veiled with hardships."

an-Nasaa'ee, at-Tirmidhi, and Abu Dawud report from Abu Hurayrah (Radiyallahu Anhu) that the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Salaam) said, "When Allaah created Paradise, He told Jibreel, "Go look at it". So he went and looked at it, then he came back and said, "By Your Glory, no-one will hear of it but he will enter it". So He surrounded it with hardships and said, "Go and look at it". So he went and looked at it, then came back and said, "By Your Glory, I fear that no-one will enter it"". [Jaami al-Usool, 10/520, 8068]

an-Nawawi commented on the first hadith:

"This is an example of the beautiful, eloquent and concise speech which the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Salaam) was capable, in which he gives a beautiful analogy. It means that nothing will help you to reach Paradise except going through hardships, and nothing will lead you to Hell, but whims and desires. Both are veiled as described, and whoever tears down the veil will reach what was hidden behind it. The veil of Paradise is torn down by going through hardships and the veil of Hell is torn down by giving in to whims and desires. Hardship including striving consistently and patiently in worship, restraining one's anger, forgiving, being patient, giving in charity, being kind to those who mistreat you, resisting physical desires, etc" [Sharh an-Nawawi 'ala Muslim, 17/165]

Description of the People of Paradise and the Delights They Enjoy Therein

The people of Paradise will enter in the most perfect and beautiful form, in the image of their father, Aadam (Alaihis Salaam), for there is no human form more perfect and beautiful than that of Aadam, whom Allaah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala) created very tall. He was as tall as a great palm tree, sixty cubits tall. Muslim reports from Abu Hurayrah (Radiyallahu Anhu) that the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Salaam) said,

"Allaah, Subhaanahu wa ta'aala, created Aadam in his own image, sixty cubits tall... everyone who enters Paradise will be in the image of Aadam, sixty cubits tall. People kept getting shorter and shorter after the time of Aadam."[Saheeh Muslim, Kitaab al-Jannah, Baab Yadkhul al-Jannah Aqwam Af'idatuhum mithl af'idatah at-Tayr 4:2183, no. 2841]

Their external appearance will be in harmony, and their hearts will be as one. Their hearts and souls will be clean and pure. Muslim reports from Abu Hurayrah (Radiyallahu Anhu) a hadith in which the Prophet describes people entering Paradise including a group whose light will be like the full moon. He (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Salaam) said, "Their form will be that of a single person, after the image of their father Aadam, sixty cubits tall." [Saheeh Muslim, Kitaab al-Jannah, Baab Awwal zumrah yadkhuluna al-Jannah, 4/2179, no. 2834]

Another aspect of their beauty is that they will have no body hair, and will look as if their eyes are anointed with kohl. Each of them will enter Paradise aged thirty-three, the age of strength, vitality and youth. Ahmad and at-Tirmidhi report from Mu'aadh ibn Jabal that the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Salaam) said, "The people of Paradise will enter Paradise hairless, looking as if their eyes are ringed with kohl, aged thirty three." [Saheeh al-Jaami' 6/337, no. 7928]

The people of Paradise will not sleep. Jaabir ibn 'Abdullaah and 'Abdullaah ibn Abi Awfaa reported that the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wa Salaam) said, "Sleep is the brother of death; the people of Paradise will not sleep" [Silsilat al-Hadith as-Saheehah, 3/74, no. 1087, al-Kaamil of Ibn 'Adiyy, al-Hilyah of Abu Na'eem, Taareekh Isbahaan, by Abul-Sheikh]

CONTEMPORARY ISLAMIC POLITICS

There is an account in a French diplomatic despatch of 1892 of an encounter between the Ottoman sultan Abdulhamid II and the head of Sufi orders in Egypt, Shaykh Muhammad Tawfiq al-Bakri. ‘I wish for you to understand that I am not a simple mollah’, boasted Shaykh al-Bakri. ‘I am a political man, I have general ideas, and I have read Aristotle, Montesquieu, J. J. Rousseau, Spencer, Leroy-Beaulieu, etc.’ The simple mollahs have since disappeared; political ideology suffuses religious thought. And the foreign influence is pervasive, although one more readily detects traces of Marx than of Montesquieu. The result is what some call ferment.

In this study, the late Hamid Enayat has succinctly described the modern mutations of Islamic political thought, ably summarizing representative texts for the student and general reader. The abolition of the Ottoman caliphate in 1924 is the author’s point of departure for a discussion of the rivalry between concepts of a Muslim state, and Muslim responses to the imported principles of nationalism, democracy and socialism. A parallel theme is that of specifically Shi’i modernism and Shi’i-Sunni reconciliation. We are again in the familiar company of Rashid Rida. Ali Abd al-Raziq, Muhammad al-Ghazali, Mustafa al-Siba’i, Sayyid Qutb, Mawdudi and Shari’ati. As a descriptive survey, Modern Islamic Political Thought is of great value, and doubtless will win deserved recognition in the classroom.

But another aim of this book is to advance a subtle argument, signaled by a caveat in the preface.

The question of any ulterior or hidden motive that these [surveyed] authors may have harboured has been kept out of the analysis, not only because a thorough examination of them threatens to turn a history of ideas into histoire événementielle, but also because ideas seem to have a life of their own people, especially those of the generations subsequent to the authors’, often tend to perceive ideas with little or no regard for the authors’ insidious designs, unless they are endowed with a capacity for mordant cynicism.

This is how Enayat would dispense with that higher criticism that has interpreted the writings of Muslim reformists through their mundane transactions and esoteric teachings. It was this sort of inquest which led to a radical reappraisal of Afghani’s, Abduh’s, and Malkum Khan’s religious writings, and cast the early history of Muslim reformism in a severe light. Now historical scholarship is poised to examine the sincerity of the next generation of reformists. Those who still share the reformist attitude, locked as they are in a struggle with an ascendant fundamentalism, will be discomfited.

Enayat conveys, in the subtlest language, his personal conviction that this battered modernism is not a spent force, that a balance can yet be struck between authenticity and accommodation. To buttress this belief, Enayat feels obliged to shield the icons from the iconoclasts. Characteristic is his lengthy defense of Ali Abd al-Raziq’s al-Islam wa usul al-hukm. This book, published in Egypt shortly after the abolition of the Ottoman caliphate, argued the controversial view that the caliphate was not immanent in Islam, and made a case for the separation of religion and politics. Enayat goes to great lengths to establish that the work was a step toward ‘a new Sunni consensus on the relationship between Islam and the modern state’, but was ?misunderstood’ and so evoked a ‘regrettable’ assault by the Azhar establishment. He passes in silence over the work of political historians who suggest that the book was written to thwart a scheme of the Egyptian royal house to claim the caliphate, and was regarded by contemporaries not as a theoretical inquiry but as a partisan tract.

A similar sort of omission mars Enayat’s account of the ‘religious response’ of a group of leading Azhar ulama to the abolition of the Ottoman caliphate. Enayat dwells on the ease with which these divines discarded their allegiance to the deposed caliph, and accepted the abolition as a fair accompli. ‘[The] resolution of the scholarly gathering shows that even in this body, despite its orthodox pronouncements, there was a willingness to come to terms with the new development’. Here were ‘evident clues to the readiness for accommodation with non-traditionalists’. But Enayat notes that these scholars met under the chairmanship of Shaykh al-Azhar al-Jizawi and President of the Supreme Religious Court al-Maraghi. Now these two very complex mollahs were accomplices of the royal palace, and there is ample documentary evidence that the aim of these deliberations was to clear the theological boards for an Egyptian caliphate. This resolution was not a scholastic finding but an intrigue, and was then widely recognized as such.

A similar judgment concerns the circumstances which surrounded the issuance in 1959 of the famous ecumenical fatwa authored by Shaykh al-Azhar Shaltut. Enayat makes much of this document, which recognized the validity of worship according to Twelver Shi’i doctrine and denied the existence of sects within Islam. The step ‘established a distinct trend towards greater Sunni-Shi’i understanding. The credit for this should be largely put down to Shaltut’s generally temperate vision of Islam’. But Shaltut was no simple mollah either, and so momentous a response would never have been issued without the full approval, if not upon the insistence, of a calculating President Nasir. This fatwa, like so many reformist doctrinal texts, cannot be allowed to speak for itself, even in a history of ideas. Yet Enayat will not concede the role of political exigency in the gestation of political thought, apparently because that thought is today in dire need of the credential of sincerity.

Enayat’s own critique of reformism is strictly tactical, for it is made from within. Reformism failed in Egypt because of the ‘over-confident, intemperate mood of some of the modernists, which made them insensitive to whatever potential for reform existed inside the religious community. Instead of developing this potential by adopting a more discriminating approach, the modernists launched an offensive which, simultaneous as it was with the secularisation of Turkey, lent plausibility to the traditionalists’ charge that what the modernists sought was not a simple modification of religious attitudes, but the very eradication of Islam as an all-inclusive system of moral, social and political guidelines’. In other words, Egyptian modernists, in order to disarm traditionalist criticism, should have been more dissimulating.

Now this plea for more guile is fundamentally Shi’i, and in Iran, Enayat leads us to believe, discretion is the better part of reformist valour. Consider Murtada Mutahhari, whom Enayat credits with inspiring this book. A professor of philosophy at Tehran University, Mutahhari was deeply involved in progressive reformist societies, secured the rank of ayatullah after the revolution, and became a leading light in the new order. So convincingly did he embrace the role that in May 1979, anticlericalist guerillas elected to assassinate him. But most modern Shi’i reformists in Iran have been surprisingly guileless, and so have overplayed their hand. What Enayat writes of Ali Abd al-Raziq?that he was needlessly ‘provocative’?applies no less to Ali Shari’ati, who laced his writings with quotations from French orientalists and vexed the elders of Qumm. A jealous clergy has had no trouble weeding out Iran’s reformists, and Enayat’s chapter on Shi’i modernism may be read as an adieu.

Also overwhelmed by the tide of events in Iran has been the Shi’i-Sunni reconciliation which Enayat seeks to establish as the first fruit of modernist influence. Reflecting, probably at the last revision, upon the Iran-Iraq war, Enayat concedes ‘the extent to which religion can become a handmaiden of politics, rendering any sectarian peace vulnerable to the unpredictability of international relations’. Yet he maintains that among Shi’is, ‘there has been much deprecation of the schismatic attitudes of the past’, and cites, of all things, Shi’i appeals for ‘conformity to majority norms’ during the Meccan pilgrimage. Already this ‘considerable degree of intellectual harmony’ between Shi’is and Sunnis has vanished like a morning mist, and the Iranians have made themselves the troublesome bêtes noires of the pilgrimage.

For dogmatism is the rage. Enayat provides a solid account of modernism’s fundamentalist rival, particularly the Arab Ikhwan al-Muslimun, the Iranian Fida’iyan-i Islam, and the Pakistani Jama’at-i Islami. Interestingly, he omits any discussion of Khumayni’s Islamic Government. But he finds Mawdudi’s identical vision of an Islamic state unworkable, for the premise ‘that rulers can be kept out of mischief by adhering to a certain set of doctrines, or leading an ascetic way of life’, is a ‘noble idea, but one which has so far rarely worked in practice. Maududi does not provide any evidence that his ideological state would be an exception to this depressing observation of history’. Nor has Enayat any faith in ‘the overweening attitude of militant Shi’is and their confidence in Man’s flawless ability to overcome all social and political imperfections’.

These doubts find some new confirmation daily. What is remarkable is that some of the disillusioned have found solace in the Shari’atis and Bani Sadrs, who evoke Lord Cromer’s comment on the too-well read Shaykh al-Bakri: ‘Was this fin de siècle sheikh, this curious compound of Mecca and the Paris Boulevards, the latest development in Islamism? I should add that the combination produced no results of any importance’.

Going to ‘Arafah

When the sun rises on the day of ‘Arafah, the pilgrim travels from Mina to ‘Arafah and stops in Namirah until the time of Zuhr (Namirah is a place just before ‘Arafah), if he can do so. If he cannot do it, it does not matter because staying in Namirah is Sunnah but it is not obligatory. When the sun passes its zenith (i.e., when the time for Zuhr prayer begins), he should pray Zuhr and ‘Asr, two rak’ahs each, and join them together at the time of Zuhr, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did, so as to leave a lot of time for standing and making du’aa’.

Then after the prayer he should devote his time to making dhikr and du’aa’ and beseeching Allaah, and praying as he likes, raising his hands and facing the qiblah even if the mountain of ‘Arafah is behind him, because the Sunnah is to face the qiblah, not the mountain. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stood by the mountain and said, “I am standing here, but all of ‘Arafah is the place of standing.”

Most of the Prophet’s du’aa’ in that great place of standing was: “Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu laa shareeka lah, lahu’l-mulk, wa lahu’l-hamd, wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer (There is no god but Allaah alone, with no partner or associate; His is the Dominion, all praise is due to Him, and He is able to do all things).”

If the pilgrim gets tired and wants to have a break by talking to his companions about useful things or by reading from some useful books, especially things that have to do with the generosity and great bounty of Allaah, in order to increase his hopes on that day, this is good. Then he can go back to beseeching Allaah and praying to Him. He should strive to make the most of the end of the day by making du’aa’. The best of du’aa’ is du’aa’ made on the day of ‘Arafah.

Going to Muzdalifah

When the sun sets, the pilgrim should go to Muzdalifah. When he reaches there, he should pray Maghrib and ‘Isha’ with one adhaan and two iqaamahs. If he fears that he will not reach Muzdalifah before midnight, he should pray on the way, because it is not permissible to delay ‘Isha’ prayer until after midnight.

He should stay overnight in Muzdalifah, then when dawn comes he should pray Fajr early, with the adhaan and iqaamah, and then head for al-Mash’ar al-Haraam (which is the site of the mosque in Muzdalifah) and proclaim the oneness and greatness of Allaah (by saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah and Allaahu akbar), and making du’aa’ as he likes, until it has become very light (i.e., when the light of day appears before the sun has actually risen). If it is not easy for him to go to al-Mash’ar al-Haraam, he should make du’aa’ where he is, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stood there and all of Muzdalifah is the place of standing. When he is reciting dhikr and making du’aa’ he should face the qiblah and raise his hands.

Going to Mina

When it has become very light, before the sun rises, he should go to Mina and hasten through Wadi Mahsar (which is a valley between Muzdalifah and Mina). When he reaches Mina he should stone Jamarat al-‘Aqabah, which is the last one that is closest to Makkah, throwing seven pebbles one after another, each of which should be approximately the size of a fava bean, saying “Allaahu akbar” with each throw. (The Sunnah when stoning Jamarat al-‘Aqabah is to face the Jamarah with Makkah to one's left and Mina to one one’s right). When he has finished this stoning, he should slaughter his sacrificial animal, then shave his head or cut his hair if he is male; women should cut the length of a fingertip from their hair. This is the first stage of exiting ihraam, in which it becomes permissible to do everything except have intercourse with one's wife. Then the pilgrim should go back to Makkah and do tawaaf and saa’i for Hajj. Then comes the second stage of exiting ihraam, after which everything becomes permissible which was forbidden whilst in ihraam.

The Sunnah is to put on perfume when one wants to go to Makkah to do tawaaf after stoning the jamarat and shaving one’s head, because ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: “I used to apply perfume to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) before he entered ihraam and when he exited ihraam, before he circumambulated the House.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1539; Muslim, 1189.

Then after tawaaf and saa’i, he should go back to Mina and stay there for two night, the 11th and 12th of Dhu’l-Hijjah, and stone the three jamarats during those two days, when the sun has passed its zenith. It is better for him to go to the jamarats walking, but if he rides that is acceptable. He should stone the first jamarah, which is the one that is furthest away from Makkah and next to Masjid al-Kheef, with seven pebbles, one after another, and say “Allaahu akbar” after each throw. Then he should go forward a little and say a lengthy du’aa’, saying whatever he likes. If it is too difficult for him to stand for a long time and make du’aa’, he should say whatever is easy for him, even if it is only a little, so that he will have done the Sunnah.

Then he should stone the middle jamarah with seven pebbles, one after another, saying “Allaahu akbar” with every throw. Then he should move to his left and stand facing the qiblah, raising his hands, and offer a lengthy du’aa’ if he can. Otherwise he should stand for as long as he can. He should not omit to stand and make du’aa’ because it is Sunnah. Many people neglect that because of ignorance or because they take the matter lightly. The more the Sunnah is neglected the more important it becomes to do it and spread it among the people, lest it be abandoned and die out.

Then he should stone Jamarat al-‘Aqabah with seven pebbles, one after another, saying “Allaahu akbar” with each throw, then he should go away and not offer a du’aa’ after that.

When he has completed the stoning of the Jamaraat on the 12th day of Dhu’l-Hijjah, if he wants he may hasten and leave Mina, and if he wants he may delay his departure and stay there for another night, the night of the 13th, and stone the three Jamaraat after noon as he did before. It is better to delay, but it is not obligatory unless the sun has set on the 12th and he is still in Mina, in which case it is obligatory to stay until one has stoned the three Jamaraat after noon on the following day. But if the sun sets on the 12th and he is still in Mina but not by choice, such as if he had already started out and boarded his means of transportation, but got delayed because of crowded conditions and traffic jams etc., then he is not obliged to stay there, because the delay until sunset was not by his choice.

When the pilgrim wants to leave Makkah and go back to his country, he should not leave until he has performed the farewell tawaaf (tawaaf al-wadaa’), because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No one should leave until the last thing that he does is (tawaaf) around the House.” Narrated by Muslim, 1327). According to another version, he told the people that the last thing they should do was (tawaaf) around the house, but he made an exception for women who were menstruating. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1755; Muslim, 1328.

Women who are menstruating or bleeding following childbirth do not have to do the farewell tawaaf; neither should they stand by the door of al-Masjid al-Haraam to bid farewell, because that was not narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

The last thing the pilgrim should do when he wants to leave is to circumambulate the House. If after the farewell tawaaf he stays and waits for his companions or to load his luggage or to buy something he needs on the way, there is nothing wrong with that, and he does not have to repeat the tawaaf, unless he intends to delay his journey, such as if he intended to travel at the beginning of the day and he did the farewell tawaaf, then he delays his travelling until the end of the day, for example; in this case he has to repeat the tawaaf so that it will be the last thing he does in Makkah.

Note:

The pilgrim who enters ihraam for Hajj or ‘Umrah has to do the following:

1- He has to adhere to that which Allaah has enjoined of religious laws, such as praying on time in congregation.

2- He has to avoid all that Allaah has forbidden of obscene and immoral speech and sin, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“So whosoever intends to perform Hajj therein (by assuming Ihraam), then he should not have sexual relations (with his wife), nor commit sin, nor dispute unjustly during the Hajj”

[al-Baqarah 2:197]

3- He should avoid annoying the Muslims with his words or actions, at the holy sites and elsewhere.

4- He should avoid all things that are forbidden when in ihraam:

a. So he should not cut anything from his hair or nails, but removing thorns and the like is fine, even if that results in some bleeding.

b. He should not apply perfume after entering ihraam, either to his body, his clothes, his food or his drink. He should not wash with perfumed soap either. But if any traces of perfume remain from that which he put on before entering ihraam, that does not matter.

c. He should not hunt.

d. He should not have intercourse with his wife.

e. He should not touch her with desire or kiss her etc.

f. He should not enter into a marriage contract for himself or arrange a marriage for anyone else, or propose marriage to a woman for himself or on behalf of another.

g. He should not wear gloves, but wrapping one’s hands with a piece of cloth does not matter.

These seven prohibitions apply equally to men and women.

The following apply only to men:

- Men should not cover their heads with something that stays on the head. Shading their heads with umbrellas, car roofs and tents, and carrying mats etc. (on one’s head, when moving them from one place to another), is acceptable.

- They should not wear shirts, turbans, burnouses, pants or leather slippers, unless someone cannot find an izar (waist wrapper), in which case he may wear pants; and if he cannot find sandals he may wear shoes.

- They should not wear anything that is akin to the above, such as abayas, cloaks, hats, t-shirts and the like.

- It is permissible for men to wear sandals, rings, eyeglasses and hearing aids, and to wear wristwatches, or to put watches on strings around their necks, and to wear money belts.

- It is permissible for them to wash with unperfumed soaps, and to scratch their heads and bodies, and if any hairs fall unintentionally as a result, there is no sin on them.

Women should not wear niqaab, which is what they use to cover their faces, with holes cut for the eyes. They should not wear the burqa’ either.

The Sunnah is for them to uncover their faces unless non-mahram men can see them, in which case they should cover their faces whilst in ihraam and at other times.

Hajj is one of the best acts of worship. It is one of the pillars of Islam with which Allaah sent Muhammad and without which a person’s religious commitment is incomplete.

Worship cannot bring a person closer to Allaah and cannot be accepted unless it meets two conditions:

1 – Sincerity towards Allaah alone, i.e., it is done to seek the Countenance of Allaah and the Hereafter, and is not done to show off, to enhance one’s reputation or for worldly gain.

2 – Following the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in word and deed. Following the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) can only be achieving by knowing his Sunnah.

Hence the one who wants to worship Allaah by doing any act of worship – Hajj or anything else – has to learn the teachings of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) concerning it, so that his actions will be in accordance with the Sunnah.

We will sum up in these few lines the description of Hajj as narrated in the Sunnah.

Types of Hajj

There are three types of Hajj: Tamattu’, Ifraad and Qiraan.

Tamattu’ means entering ihraam for ‘Umrah only during the months of Hajj (the months of Hajj are Shawwaal, Dhu’l-Qi’dah and Dhu’l-Hijjah; see al-Sharh al-Mumti’, 7/62). When the pilgrim reaches Makkah he performs tawaaf and saa’i for ‘Umrah, and shaves his head or cuts his hair, and exits ihraam. Then when the day of al-Tarwiyah, which is the 8th of Dhu’l-Hijjah, comes, he enters ihraam for Hajj only, and does all the actions of Hajj. So Tamattu’ involves a complete ‘Umrah and a complete Hajj.

Ifraad means entering ihraam for Hajj only. When the pilgrim reaches Makkah he performs tawaaf al-qudoom (tawaaf of arrival) and saa’i for Hajj, but he does not shave or cut his hair and does not exit ihraam, rather he remains in ihraam until he exits ihraam after stoning Jamarat al-‘Aqabah on the day of Eid. If he delays the saa’i of Hajj until after the tawaaf of Hajj, there is nothing wrong with that.

Qiraan means entering ihraam for ‘Umrah and Hajj both together. Or entering ihraam for ‘Umrah first then including Hajj in that before starting the tawaaf of Hajj. That is done by intending that his tawaaf and saa’i will be for both Hajj and ‘Umrah.

The actions done in Qiraan are the same as those done in Ifraad, except that the pilgrim doing Qiraan has to offer a hadiy (sacrifice) whereas the pilgrim doing Ifraad does not.

The best of these three types of Hajj is Tamattu’. This is what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined upon his companions and urged them to do. Even if a person enters ihraam for Qiraan or Ifraad, then it is strongly recommended for him to change his intention to ‘Umrah, then complete ‘Umrah and exit ihraam, so that he will then be doing Tamattu’. He may do that after doing tawaaf al-qudoom and saa’i – because when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did tawaaf and saa’i during his Farewell Pilgrimage, and his companions were with him, he told everyone who did not have a sacrificial animal (hadiy) to change his intention and make his ihraam for ‘Umrah and to cut his hair and exit ihraam, and he said, “Were it not that I have brought the hadiy with me, I would do what I have commanded you to do.”

Ihraam

The pilgrim should observe the Sunnahs of ihraam which are mentioned in the question referred to above, namely doing ghusl, applying perfume and praying. Then he should enter ihraam after he finishes the prayer or after boarding his means of transportation.

Then if he is doing Tamattu’, he should say, “Labbayk Allaahumma bi ‘Umrah (Here I am, O Allaah, for ‘Umrah).”

If he is doing Qiraam, he should say, “Labbayk Allaahumma bi Hijjah wa ‘Umrah (Here I am, O Allaah, for Hajj and ‘Umrah).”

If he is doing Ifraad, he should say, “Labbayk Allaahumma Hajjan (Here I am, O Allaah, for Hajj).”

Then he should say, “Allaahumma haadhihi hijjah laa riyaa’a fiha wa la sum’ah (O Allaah, this is a pilgrimage in which there is no showing off or seeking reputation).”

Then he should recite the Talbiyah as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did: “Labbayka Allaahumma labbayk, labbayka laa shareeka laka labbayk. Inna al-hamd wa’l-ni’mata laka wa’l-mulk, laa shareeka lak (Here I am, O Allaah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Verily all praise and blessings are Yours, and all sovereignty, You have no partner).”

The Talbiyah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also included the words, “Labbayka ilaah al-haqq (Here I am, O God of Truth).”

Ibn ‘Umar used to add to the Talbiyah the words, “Labbaayk wa sa’dayka, wa’l-khayr bi yadayka, wa’l-raghba’ ilayka wa’l-‘aml (Here I am and blessed by You, and all good is in Your hands, and desire and action are directed towards You).”

Men should raise their voices when saying this, but a woman should recite in such a manner that those who are beside her can hear it, unless there is a man beside her who is not one of her mahrams, in which case she should recite it silently.

If the person who is entering ihraam fears some obstacle that may prevent him from completing his pilgrimage (such as sickness, an enemy, being stopped from proceeding any further, etc), then he should stipulate a condition when entering ihraam by saying, “If I am prevented then my exiting ihraam is where I am prevented” – i.e., if something prevents me from completing my pilgrimage such as sickness or delay etc, then I will exit my ihraam. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded Dubaa’ah bint al-Zubayr, when she wanted to enter ihraam but she was sick, to stipulate such a condition, and he said, “Your condition is valid with your Lord.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5089) and Muslim (1207).

If he stipulates this condition and something happens to prevent him from completing his pilgrimage, then he exits his ihraam and does not have to do anything (i.e., offer a sacrifice in compensation).

But the one who does not fear that some obstacle may prevent him from completing his pilgrimage does not have to stipulate any conditions, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not stipulate conditions nor did he command everyone to do so. Rather he told Dubaa’ah bint al-Zubayr to do that because she was sick.

The muhrim (person who has entered ihraam) should recite the Talbiyah a great deal, especially when circumstances and times change, such as when going up to a high place or going down to a low place, or when night or day begin. After that he should ask Allaah for His good pleasure and for Paradise, and seek refuge in His Mercy from the Fire.

The Talbiyah is prescribed in ‘Umrah from the moment one enters ihraam until one starts Tawaaf. In Hajj it is prescribed from the moment one enters ihraam until one stones Jamarat al-‘Aqabah on the day of Eid.

Ghusl when entering Makkah

When the pilgrim approaches Makkah, he should do ghusl before entering, if possible, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did ghusl before entering Makkah. Narrated by Muslim, 1259.

Then when he enters al-Masjid al-Haraam he should do so with his right foot first, and say, “Bismillaah wa’l-salaatu wa’l-salaam ‘ala Rasool-Allaah. Allaahumma ighfir li dhunoobi waftah li abwaab rahmatika. A’oodhu Billaah il-‘Azeem wa bi wajhih il-kareem wa bi sultaanih il-‘qadeem min al-Shaytaan il-rajeem (In the name of Allaah, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allaah. O Allaah, forgive me my sins and open to me the gates of Your mercy. I seek refuge with Allaah the Almighty and in His noble Countenance and His eternal power from the accursed Satan).” Then he should go to the Black Stone in order to start tawaaf…

Then after he has done tawaaf and prayed two rak’ahs, he should go to the Mas’a (place for doing saa’i) and perform saa’i between al-Safa and al-Marwah.

The pilgrim who is doing Tamattu’ should do saa’i for ‘Umrah; those who are doing Ifraad and Qiraan should do saa’i for Hajj, and they may delay it until after Tawaaf al-Ifaadah.

Shaving the head or cutting the hair

When the pilgrim who is doing Tamattu’ has completed seven circuits of saa’i, he should shave his head if he is a man, or cut his hair. If he shaves his head he must shave his entire head, and if he cuts his hair he must cut from all over his head. Shaving is better than cutting because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) made du’aa’ three times for those who shaved their heads and once for those who cut their hair. Narrated by Muslim, 1303.

But if the time of Hajj is so close that there will be no time for the hair to grow back, then it is better to cut one’s hair at this point, so that there will be some hair left to shave during Hajj. The evidence for that is the fact that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded his companions, during the Farewell Pilgrimage, to cut their hair during ‘Umrah, because they arrived on the morning of the 4th of Dhu’l-Hijjah.

Women should cut the length of a fingertip from their hair.

With these actions, the ‘Umrah of the one who is doing Tamattu’ is concluded, after which he should exit ihraam completely and do everything that those who are not in ihraam do, such as wearing regular clothes, wearing perfume, having intercourse with their wives, etc.

Those who are doing Ifraad or Qiraan should not shave their heads or cut their hair, or exit ihraam, rather they should remain in ihraam until they exit ihraam on the day of Eid, after stoning Jamarat al-‘Aqabah and shaving their heads or cutting their hair.

Then when the day of al-Tarwiyah comes, which is the 8th day of Dhu’l-Hijjah, the one who is doing Tamattu’ should enter ihraam for Hajj in the morning from the place where he is in Makkah. It is mustahabb for him to do the same when entering ihraam for Hajj as he did when entering ihraam for ‘Umrah, namely doing ghusl, putting on perfume and praying. He should form the intention of entering ihraam for Hajj and recite the Talbiyah, and say, “Labbayk Allaahumma Hajjan (Here I am, O Allaah, for Hajj).”

If he fears some obstacle that may prevent him from completing his Hajj, he should stipulate a condition by saying, “If I am prevented then my exiting ihraam is where I am prevented.” If he does not fear any such obstacle then he should not make any such condition. It is mustahabb to recite the Talbiyah out loud until he starts to stone Jamarat al-‘Aqabah on the day of Eid.

Going to Mina

Then the pilgrim should go out to Mina and pray Zuhr, ‘Asr, Maghrib, ‘Isha’ and Fajr there, shortening the prayers but not joining them, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to shorten his prayers in Mina but he did not join them. Shortening the prayers means making the four-rak’ah prayers two raka’ahs. The people of Makkah and others should shorten their prayers in Mina, ‘Arafah and Muzdalifah because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to lead the people in prayer during the Farewell Pilgrimage and there were people from Makkah with him, but he did not tell them to offer their prayers in full. If it had been obligatory for them to do so, he would have told them to do so as he did on the day of the Conquest of Makkah. But since the city has spread and incorporated Mina so that it is like one of the quarters of Makkah, then the people of Makkah should not shorten their prayers there.

A beautiful story of the kindness of our beloved Nabi (saw) a kindness that extended to both rich and poor:

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said,

“There was a man from amongst the Bedouins whose name was Zahir bin Haram. Whenever he came to Medinah for a need, he brought something for the Prophet (saw) as a gift, like cottage cheese or butter. Likewise, when the Prophet (saw) would prepare something to give to him whenever e wanted to leave, such as dates and so on.

The Prophet (saw) used to love him and say, “Zahir is our Bedouin and we are his city dwellers.”

Zahir was not very good looking. One say, Zahir (may Allah be pleased with him) left the desert and came to Allah’s Messenger (saw) but did not find him. He has some merchandise to sell so he went on to the market place.

When the Prophet (saw) found out about his arrival, he went to the market place looking for him. When he arrived, he saw him selling his merchandise with sweat pouring down from his face. He wore Bedouin clothers which did not smell good either. The Prophet (saw) hugged him tightly from behing, while Zahir was unaware and could not see who it was.

Zahir became scared and said, “Let me go! Who is this?!” But the Prophet (saw) remained silent. Zahir tried to release himself from his grip and started to look right and left. When he saw the Prophet (saw) he relaxed and calmed down, placing his back against the Prophet’s chest. The Prophet (saw) began to joke with him, saying to the public: “Who will buy this slave?! Who will buy this slave?”

Thereupon, Zahir looked at himself and thought of his extreme poverty, for he had neither wealth or good looks.

He said, “You will find me unmarketable, O’ Messenger of Allah.”

The Prophet (saw) said, “But you are not unmarketable with Allah. You are very precious to Allah.”

Questions on Jinns

Question 1: Who are the jinn?

The jinn are among the creatures that Allah (swt) created. Allah (swt) created angels, jinn, mankind, animals, plants and others. Jinn have some qualities like human beings. These qualities are intellect, discrimination, freedom, and the power to choose between right and wrong, between true and false, as well as between good and bad.

Question 2: When did Allah (swt) create the jinn?

Allah (swt) created the jinn before Adam (pbuh) was created. Both were created in heaven and lived in paradise. One may read in Surah Al-Hijr (The Rocky Tract) [Qur'an, 15:26-27]. However, nothing was mentioned about the duration of time of the jinn's creation before Adam (pbuh).

Question 3: What are jinn created from?

Jinn are created from fire of hot wind [Qur'an, 15:27]; and from smokeless fire [Qur'an, 55:15]. They were originally made from fire and then molded and shaped in the form and shape that Allah (swt) wanted them to be.

Question 4: Do jinn have bodies?

Yes and no! It depends upon the information that one has. One group of scholars believe that jinn do not have bodies of their own. They also do not inhabit bodies of other creatures. However, they do exist independently by themselves. Therefore, they do not know how they exist without bodies: smoke, flame, fire or what?

The other group of scholars do believe that jinn do have bodies either definite or subtle. If their bodies are definite then they have some density; otherwise, if they are subtle, then they are so fine that our weak eyes cannot see them. One may read Surah Al-A'raf (The Heights) [Qur'an, 7:27]. Even if they are subtle they should have weight and density similar to that of the air itself.

Question 5: Do jinn die?

Yes. Jinn do die. As long as they are creatures created by Allah (swt), they should die. They are creatures that marry, produce children, eat, drink, and die like all other creatures in the universe. One may read Qur'an Surah Al-Rahman (The Most Merciful) [Qur'an, 55:26-28].

Question 6: Do the jinn feel envy of us?

Yes. There are two types of evil eye: human and the jinn. One has to read regularly 'A'oozu Billahi Minash-shaitanir Rajeem. Also, by reading Ayah Al-Kursi and Al-Mu'awwazatain, one will be protected from the evil eyes of both the jinn and mankind.

Question 7: Are there messengers and prophets from within the community of jinn?

Yes. Allah (swt) has sent prophets and messengers to jinn from within the jinn community. Also, Allah (swt) sent Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to mankind, to jinn, and to other creatures. In Surah Al-An'am (The Cattle), Allah (swt) explains that He sent messengers to men and to jinn. See Qur'an [6:130].

Question 8: Do jinn have different religions, sects and denominations?

In Surah Al-Jinn (Ch. 72), Allah (swt) informs us that some jinn accepted Islam, while others refused. Those who refused have deviated, and developed for themselves different methods, different ways of life, and different religions, sects and denominations.

Question 9: Do jinn marry and have children?

Yes. Jinn do marry and they do have children. The way they marry is not known to us yet. We may be able to know the future if Allah (swt) wants us to know.

People never knew about microbes, viruses, and the unseen micro creatures. Now we are able to know many things about their life cycles, their life duration, their methods of duplication or reproduction: sexually and asexually. The mere fact that we do not know how the jinn marry and reproduce does not negate their being married and reproduced. The Qur'an stipulates in Surah Al-Kahf (18:50) that they have offsprings. Similarly, the Qur'an states in Surah Al-Rahman (55:56) that jinn and human beings never touched (married) the ladies of paradise.

Question 10: Do jinn have animals as pets?

Yes. Jinn do have animals or beasts of their own. The Prophet (pbuh) mentioned that every piece of dung is fodder for the beasts of the jinn. However, we do not know what type of beasts the jinn have. The same thing is to be said as to the varieties of beasts, their number, their shape, their size, their weight and so on.

Question 11: Do jinn have homes of their own?

Yes. The jinn do have homes. They live all over the planet earth. However, there are special places that one may find them in abundance and on a regular basis. These are deserts, ruins, places of impurities such as dunghills, bathrooms and graveyards. They live in houses of human beings too. For those who enter their houses mentioning the name of Allah (swt), the jinn cannot have a place to stay overnight in that house. If the people of the house mention the name of Allah (swt) before eating, then the shaitan will not be able to eat with them.

Question 12: Is it true that animals see jinn and angels?

Yes. Animals do see angels and shaitan. When a rooster sees an angel, it starts crowing. However, when a donkey starts braying it is seeing a jinn.

(If re-occurring on stopping medicine then it is not a treatment for the disease rather it is a treatment to adjust the patient to make complaint-less from the disease!!)

Paralysis of full body or any part of the body or any organ without any medical reason.

Tendency to commit suicide many often.

Sleep-less-ness for days/weeks altogether without any reasons of / sufficient reason for sleep-less-ness. Even psychiatrists and his sleeping pills failed on one case!

Pain in any part / organ of the body, medically treating for years but not cured; especially abdominal.

Wound/scratch on any part of the body medically treating for years but not cured.

Any particular disease repeats in a particular solar months or dates. (Fore example: we have seen one old lady was having asthma (chest congestion and breathing problems) by the end of July/first of August every year. This is for the last 40 years. Even last year, she had on 03/08/2008.

Un-cured asthma (chest congestion and breathing problems) it increases during night times. Some time patient way cry out "I am dying now..." "I am dying now..." but it happens for many days for years without dying!. Medically treated but not cured for years.

Being falling unconscious quite often; especially in the bath rooms. Treated but not cured.

Falling unconscious started first time on seeing suddenly a snake, dog, cat, or any human shape.

Wishing to do work / read / write / study etc., but can not. Patient feels as some body stops from doing work / read / write / study etc. This is too much in children. One example: A girl aged 16 years; stopped school, prayer, reading quran and everything, even stopped going out from home; her weight was 89 Kg. Her only job was eating and sleeping. Medically no problem.

Kids having the mental position of the half of their age. For example: Boy aged 7 having the brain of 3 years. Too naughty. He can’t hear the words Allah, Lailaaha, subhaanallah etc... if he hears it he close the ears with hand!. He doesn’t like his mother/ father praying or reading Quran. He like too much the TV and Music.

Feels weight on the head / forehead; may be permanently and coming and going without any medical reason.

Epilepsy / body pains / serious illness on the first night (of marriage); or during first days of marriage; during exams / interviews etc. Such cases have confirmed due to jinn. In one case, a well-studying boy got blindness in during exam time without any medical reason. It was also confirmed due to jinn. In one case few days before the marriage started seviour stomach pain without any medical reason; medical report was perfect. It has resulted in divorce because of this pain.

Not having children / do not have the ability for pregnancy even though both husband and wife are medically fit and sound.

Frequent abortions without any medical reason. Such cases are too much!!!

Irregular menstrual periods; Sometime for months altogether no periods without any medical reasons.

Excessive bleeding during periods without any medical reasons. For example one case informed us, she is having bleeding almost 22-24 days in a month. Over years they consulted many doctors and the problem was not cured permanently. We send them a CD copy of the RUQYA sound file and advised to hear it for many days... After one week they reported back that she was cured and it was almost one year before and now again reported the same problem. She started to hear the ruqyah and feel dumbness while hearing the verses of sihr.

Sevier back Pain / abdominal pains during menses without any medical reasons.

Too frequently urinating and some time not urinating at all for days al-together without any medical reasons.

Frequent back-winds/gas and not able to keep wudhu even until completing one prayer. He can’t go to masjids at all. It was not cured with medicine.

Bleeding for ladies start whenever they are prepared to go to holy places (like Mecca or Madinah). This repeated many times.

Frequent migraines/ serious head ache without medical reasons.

Getting too much angry for small and irrelevant reasons – Especially with spouse, relatives and friends, doubting every body without any valid reasons and will have a sense of isolations, at last will have a tendency for suicide.

Frequently beating the wife for unwanted reasons, then feel grief/sorry after some time. This is continued for years. Example: 9 years.

Through out the day time husbands and wife are in good/lovely mood but when they ready/prepare for copulation they get each other troubles and quarrels for unwanted reasons and unable to copulate – (Even two/three months altogether like this!)

Wife don’t like the presence of husband, but if the husband is away from the home (Example. office) like to see him and feel love; but once he comes back again don’t like his presence. It was reported from a depression case not cured by medicine.

No enjoyments of sex but able for ejaculation and having children. Both husband and wife did never taste the pleasure of sex – For 10 years. Medically both are fit and sound.

During sex with wife, husband gets erection and able to penetration only when he visualizes "a particular girl" in his mind/eyes and he has to closing the eyes. If he do sex by opening his eyes or by even visualizing his own wife he can't get erection!. This was not cured with medicine.

Man unable to copulate with wife and do not get erection – Also some ladies do not like to have sex with husband and feels body pain while copulation. That cases not cured by medicine.

Wives frequently demanding divorce for silly and unwanted reasons. A girl quarrel and fight in the house of husband; but when she come to her home she feel grief and love towards husband and his relatives. Then she will make serried phone calls, again when she goes husband’s house it repeats. Psychiatrists failed in this case.

Quarrelling between husband and wife for very silly and unwanted reasons. Both of them will never adjust with the other even for silly matter. This is happened even between spouses religiously educated.

Unwanted fearing – fearing without any reason. This is found too much in children and ladies.

Unusual fearing by seeing the picture of snakes, even in the school books, in TV.

Wishing to attend but can not attend prayer in Masjids/ wishing but can not hear Islamic teachings, speeches etc... Wishing but can not read Quran. When reaches holy places like Masjid al Haram get annoyed and want to come back quickly for no reason; and in haram he quarrels with relatives for no reason.

Feeling somebody catches in the neck in the night during half-sleep. (Not a dreaming) and unable to wakeup.

Frequent laughing/crying/walking/running in the sleeping or consciously but uncontrollably during wake-up position. One case was walked to a grave-yard near their house, that girl do not know that graveyard before that incident. There she was wandering for hours when the relatives located her.

Patient frequently complains that he/she seeing some shapes / light / creatures like cats/dogs/snakes/man-shapes not identifiable in side the house. BUT others can not see.

Patient frequently complains that he/she heard the sound of any creatures from behind. BUT others can not hear.

Patient frequently complains that he/she smells something BUT others can not smell.

Sudden and abnormal forgetting. (Fore Example: a Muslim suddenly forgot the meaning of "asthagfirullah" !)

Lots of skin diseases not cured with medical treatments. Especially big round marks like that of a snakes etc, Black coloured spots in the skin itching

Body week / tiredness especially in the early hours of the day and unable to get up / unable to go to schools / unable to work / ladies unable to prepare foods and send kids to schools etc.. For example mother can not prepare foods and send the kids to schools. After some time they will get and feels alright.

Sudden anger in kids; some times talking unknown/unclear languages; some time unusual strength etc. One case: One night, one boy was talking and behaving with violent actions, talking in the voice of an old man, both mother and father was not able to control; he was having the strength of 4 men!

Going excess blood with stool / heavy bleeding though anus without any medical reason for years.

Continuously moving position. Even half minutes a patient can not sit without moving hand/leg/head or any part if the body. Only during sleeping in motion-less position.

Sexual Impotence – Couples are too lovely but no use; resulting either in the divorce.

Shaking the bed and chairs, moving furniture in the house, throwing things from out side etc. Sound like somebody walks through the upper side of home.

Itching in the places between thighs and belly. This is happening in the night only. This was medically treating more than 10 years. Al-hamdulillah it was cured with in one day on applying the Quran recited mustard oil quickly.

Laughing uncontrollably. When hearing the name of Allah, serious news like when hearing aayathul kursi(2:25), law anjalnah(59:21-24), death news of somebody, when her own kids fell down, when she hears news of accidents, etc. laughing uncontrollably. Also chest congestion and unnecessary fearing also. For the last 3.5 years taken medical treatments no use except money loss. It was confirmed due to Jinn.

One boy having head ache only on the school working days, head ache will start in the second hour of of school and during the examination periods. School of days no head ache. For almost 6 years this has been continuing and all medical treatments have failed. It was confirmed because of a jinn.

One kid, feels frightened while hearing adhaan from masjid. She responds while hearing quran and tries to block hearing.

One girl, she complains fever every day, but others can not recognize by touching the body, tested in many hospitals but all results were OK. It was confirmed due to a jinn.

Excessive smoking (he wish and tries to stop it after by-pass surgery), while stopping smocking he feels like mad and unable to stop it. It was confirmed due to a jinn.

Anxiety: For more than 16 years. Consulted many doctors but no use. It was confirmed due to jinn.

One lady without having pregnancy for more than 15 years. She visited a bheewi / khahinah and use to hold tamaima (elas) for 6 months and more over the bheewi gave some soil to put inside the vagina for months. Subhaanaallah. While she reject the "Jinn Possession" and mocking at the people who say Jinn can Possess human; she has done the Shirk!. It was confirmed that her non-pregnancy was due to a sihr cast on her. At last she said "I was not Knowing that Jinn/Shythwan is involved in thamima/ elas.

We have checked in two cases of Brain tumor (each is operated two times) they have jinn inside the body. Still under treatment and InshaAllah when their shaythwan departs the tumor also cured.

One Haafidh (One who by hearted The Quranil Kareem). One boy has habit of getting quite often savior angriness. When he get angry he breaks all house holds and has more strength than the age of that boy. It was confirmed that due to jinn possession.

Pain on the neck; feeling somebody cached on the neck. Some time feels pain on the back side. Last 2.5 years has been medicating from different doctors. But no result. It was confirmed due to jinn.

One man has savior inclination to a prostitute. He is having jinn and seems to be a sihr casted on him by that prostitute. (Allah Knows Best)

One lady become many often mad and when she becomes as mad makes duas to Allah in bath room. Close the door from inside and make Dua to Allah from inside the bath room for hours. This lady do not much of Quran especially the meaning. But when reading 46:31. It repeats every time you read this verse when she become mad.

Please note: that we can NOT say in every cases having the above symptoms are due to Jinn/ Sihr/ Eye. They can be with medical reasons as well. We can conclude it is due to jinn / sihr only when ruqyah is heard and you experience the symptoms listed below.

The main nature of a disease due to jinn possession or sihr are:

a). d). Mere guessing from the side of doctors should not be relied. In such cases we should doubt it is due to jinn / sihr / eye etc. So ask the doctors about the authenticity of treatment - is it a mere guessing or a confirmed treatment?

e). On and Off: coming and going of the disease is a symptom in most cases for jinn possession and sihr. But symptom due to evil eye, in most cases, will be of stable without being ON and OFF.

f) If the doctors say to take medicine for an indefinite period, and the disease occurs on stopping the medicine. Then in such cases what you using is not to cure rather to make the patient complaint-less / adaptive for the disease.

Today, 42 million people are said to be living with AIDS and in 2002 alone, more than 5 million people contracted the virus. Over 1 million people in Angola are infected with AIDS. As a barometer of the current morals in our technologically advanced yet morally backward society, consider that in 1970 there were only two known sexually transmitted diseases. Today, there are 25 known major STDs. Approximately 15 million people contract an STD every year and there are over 65 million people just in the U.S. alone who are currently living with an incurable STD (California Policy Research Center, Univ. of California). Islam is the only system of living that has within it, regulations that hinder the prevalence of the type of behaviour that cause these vile conditions. Islam demands that the chastity of the man and the woman in society be guarded meticulously. There are several layers of this profound system that, if implemented, prevents the situations that our current societies find themselves in. Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.). That is purer for them. Verily, Allah is All Aware of what they do. (24:30). And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms, etc.) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husband's sons, their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigor, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful. (24:31) As human beings, it is very important to remember that one of the things that distinguish us from the animals is the fact that we wear clothing. It is an honorable thing to cover the body for it, in truth, determines how civilized a society is. Throughout history, humans who did not cover or barely covered at all were considered backwards, barbaric, and uncultured. Now we live in a time where it is encouraged to uncover and those who do cover themselves are labeled ‘backward’. Men and especially women are being convinced that to expose themselves is freedom. Today, people have no shame in displaying to strangers that which should be honored and protected. Most people would not go around displaying their bank account numbers nor would they just leave their most precious jewels and heirlooms laying around for everyone to see. So why when it comes to ourselves, our wives, and daughters, do we allow any and every one to see any and everything? Thus unleashing the beast in man who, when confronted with more exposure than he is emotionally equipped to handle, begins to engage in the type of illicit behaviour that brings the rape, death, and disease we now find around us. Allah says, O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their person (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful. (33:59) O Children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover yourselves (screen your private parts, etc.) and as an adornment, and the raiment of righteousness, that is better. Such are among the Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, that they may remember (i.e. leave falsehood and follow truth. (7:26) O Children of Adam! Let not Shaitaan (Satan) deceive you, as he got your parents [Adam and Hawwa (Eve)] out of Paradise, stripping them of their raiments, to show them their private parts. Verily, he and Qabîluhu (his soldiers from the jinns or his tribe) see you from where you cannot see them. Verily, We made the Shayaatin (devils) Auliyaa' (protectors and helpers) for those who believe not. (7:27) In any society where sexual promiscuity increasingly becomes the norm, the fabric of the society, the family, is gradually destroyed. In the U.S., 28% of all children live in single parent households and of them, 84% live with the mother. 79% of all pregnancies of women under 20 are unmarried teens. Condoms and birth control are band-aid solutions that hardly work because to solve the problem is to delve into the root of the problem. The root of the problem is that morality has been defined by trends and trends come and go. We need a system of morality higher than what man can produce. Humans have an internal instinct that recognizes that there is One authority in our lives and that obedience to him is the key to success. And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam's loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): "Am I not your Lord?" They said: "Yes! We testify," lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: "Verily, we have been unaware of this."(7:172) Racism and tribalism have been the cause of many conflicts throughout the history of man. People who judge based on skin color or who hate because of race or tribe are some of the worst enemies to mankind. Islam has come to free us from the dangers of racism. Allah tells us in the Qur’an that it is righteousness that distinguishes one from another and not the appearance or tribe. “O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things)” (Noble Qur’an 49:13) And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colors: verily in that are Signs for those who know (Noble Qur’an 30:22) Islam is a program for life. Islam is designed by Allah for us to practice in order to purge the evils from ourselves. When the Muslims are commanded to gather for prayer, race cannot be a factor. The lines of prayer are not determined by race. The Hajj (pilgrimage) of the Muslims to Makkah forces the king to dress like the peasant. It forces the white man to go through the same trials of Hajj as a black man. These forms of worship along with the Zakaat and others, if properly implemented, can bring about true change in the self and throughout the entire society. Islam, however, is a religion of belief and action. To be a good Muslim, one has to be prepared to work. Islam requires discipline and self-restraint. Islam is a lifestyle of praying and begging to Allah in the middle of the night when others are sleep. Islam requires one to fast to develop the strength to endure the calls of hunger and the lower desires and to be able to resist unlawful temptations. Islam is a lifestyle of acquiring knowledge. There are so many aspects of Islam that one can spend his or her entire life learning different things in Islam. Allah says in Qur’an,” It is only (those who have knowledge) among His slaves that fear Allah. Verily, Allah is All Mighty, Oft-Forgiving”(35:28). The Muslim has to have a thirst for knowledge of this religion because in the knowledge of Islam comes the proper understanding and implementation. Islam requires courage in the face of opposition and ridicule. Since the beginning of the establishment of Islam, Muslims have been under attack. Sometimes it is an ideological attack and sometimes it is an all out physical assault. The Muslim, however, has to have the faith and the courage to continue to believe and to practice no matter what others in society may do, say, or think. If it is ‘unpopular’ to be a Muslim, then it is even more important that we continue to be seen and heard practicing our faith. We should remember what Allah says in the Qur’an… (They are) those who are patient ones, those who are true (in Faith, words, and deeds), and obedient with sincere devotion in worship to Allah. Those who spend [give the Zakaat and alms in the Way of Allah] and those who pray and beg Allah's Pardon in the last hours of the night (3:17). So do not become weak (against your enemy), nor be sad, and you will be superior (in victory) if you are indeed (true) believers (3:139). They intend to put out the Light of Allah (i.e. the religion of Islam, this Qur'an, and Prophet Muhammad SAW) with their mouths. But Allah will complete His Light even though the disbelievers hate it (61:8). Our world today is plagued with so many ills that one may be tempted to lose hope and give in to despair. What I have given is a brief summary of some of the benefits of Islam and how Islam brings about true change in this society starting with the individual and moving beyond to the world. According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (U.S.A.), alcohol related vehicle crashes kills someone every 32 minutes and non-fatal injuries occur every two minutes. The negative effect of alcohol and drugs in our ‘civilized’ society cannot be denied. Everyone in our so-called advanced societies has in some way been affected by the evils of these vices. The National Crime Victimization Survey (U.S.A) reports that 28% of the victims of violence reported that their attacker was under the influence of alcohol alone or in combination with other drugs. Alcohol related acts of workplace violence accounted for 35% of all incidents and 25% of jail inmates said that they were under the influence while arguing with family, friends, spouse, etc. Think of the countless incidents of senseless violence that could have been avoided had neither alcohol nor drugs been involved. Islam is the only world religion that addresses the evils of alcohol and drugs in its texts and removes any ambiguity as to the position of Islam on the issue. O you who believe! Intoxicants, gambling, Al-Ansaab, and Al-Azlaam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitaan's (Satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful. (The Noble Qur’an, 5:90) Shaitaan (Satan) wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from As-Salaat (the prayer). So, will you not then abstain? (5:91) What is evident is that not only does the Qur’an address the purpose of alcohol and drugs as a means of causing hatred between people and as a distraction from worship but also in the same verses condemn the destructive vice of gambling as well. Name one other system that has inspired almost 23% of the Earth’s population to completely turn away from alcohol, drugs, and gambling. Of course in every religion there will be those who do not adhere to some principles of their doctrines but the percentage of alcohol/drug related crimes, deaths, etc. in even the most unrestricted Islamic societies are insignificant when compared elsewhere. The economy of our world is changing so fast, one cannot keep pace with the fluctuations of whether we are in periods of growth or constriction. At present the world economy is reeling and individuals, institutions, and even entire nations are being crippled by the weight of debt. Debt is a true measure of wealth. If the masses of the people are kept in insurmountable levels of debt, they are not a threat to those who control where wealth actually ends up. The economic systems employed by ‘modern’ societies are designed to keep a large portion of the population in some form of debt by allowing them to use things that they cannot really afford, enriching the corporations who provide these products and stifling the growth and creativity of the purchaser with an ever present amount owed. This is made possible by the use of charging ‘interest’ on loans. This system is further criminalized when one considers the fact that the lower the income of an individual or institution, the higher the rate of interest one has to pay. This system has been used by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to wreak havoc in the so-called developing nations by loaning large sums of money to nations that cannot possibly pay it back, forcing these nations to relinquish control of its own natural and human resources. Allah, in the Qur’an, speaks directly to the evils of this institution and provides mankind with the solution. Those who eat Ribaa (interest) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaitaan (Satan) leading him to insanity. That is because they say: "Trading is only like Ribaa (interest)," whereas Allah has permitted trading and forbidden Ribaa (interest). So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord and stops eating Ribaa (interest) shall not be punished for the past; his case is for Allah (to judge); but whoever returns [to Ribaa (interest)], such are the dwellers of the Fire - they will abide therein. (2:275) O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah and give up what remains (due to you) from Ribaa (interest) (from now onward), if you are (really) believers. (2:278) Acts of kindness with regards to the debtor is a command from Allah and the manners of how to justly deal with one who is in debt is given by Allah. And if the debtor is in a hard time (has no money), then grant him time till it is easy for him to repay, but if you remit it by way of charity, that is better for you if you did but know. (2:280) The only result of an economic system that relies on the debt of others is wealth for some and poverty for most. People are literally starving not only in countries like Malawi, Rwanda, and Ethiopia but also in what are supposed to be well to do countries. Travel to any major city in the United States and you will find a large segment of the population literally sleeping in boxes and dumpsters not far from some of the wealthiest people in the world. How did this disparity come to be? Is the success of a society determined by its selfishness? Islam forbids the hoarding of wealth and demands that those who have wealth give to those who are poor in order to purify it. This commandment is given many times in the Qur’an. (Charity is) for Fuqaraa (the poor), who in Allah's Cause are restricted (from travel), and cannot move about in the land (for trade or work). The one who knows them not, thinks that they are rich because of their modesty. You may know them by their mark, they do not beg of people at all. And whatever you spend in good, surely Allah knows it well. (2:273)

Truly those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and perform As-Salaat (Iqaamat-as Salaat), and give Zakaat (charity), they will have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. (2:77) The Zakaat systems in Islam is a fundamental principle of worship. It is required of every Muslim who is able to give the Zakaat. The Zakaat is for the poor only and not to pay someone’s salary or for other extra-curricular activities as seen in most religions’ idea of charity. It is the only system in which the wealth of a society is spread out among the people to ensure that the divide between the wealthy and poor is not so vast. Allah also gives the commandment to be gentle and understanding with those to whom you have given loans. Under the current system of laws and regulations, the poor who cannot pay are punished further with interest rate increases, late fees, etc. Islam is a mercy to man as it has come to eradicate these forms of oppression.

We are living in a time unlike any other period in the history of mankind. We have mastered

technology to a degree unimaginable just fifty years ago. Various technological achievements have

Yet at the same time the divide between those who possess such wealth and the poor of the world has never been wider. Even with the advances in medicine and agricultural science, epidemic disease and wide spread famine are approaching record numbers. Most of the technological advances we see have been transformed into the most awe inspiring destructive forces the world has ever known. If there was ever a time in the history of the Earth that man could bring about what certain people call ‘Armageddon’ or the ‘apocalypse’ , it is indeed now. The nuclear family has become a victim of these times. Drugs, drunkenness, lewdness, and an all-around atmosphere of self destructiveness abound and our societies are suffering from the consequences of such behavior. People do not feel safe in their homes, whether it is the threat of an intruder who is desperate to get money for drugs or the fact that any minute their homes could be incinerated by falling missiles. The ideals of a ‘liberal’ society have opened the door to all things detrimental to human survival. Children are exposed to things that they never should see at such young ages. Yet in the ‘liberal’ society, the desires of the individual take precedence over what is most beneficial to the human family as a whole. People have become slaves to their lower passions because of what is fed to them by the society as ‘liberation’. The result is decadence with no parallel in history. Never have there been more alcoholics, serial killers, rapists, and child molesters than now. This is considered to be a ‘civilized’ society. People are desperate for a solution. A solution that is neither a quick fix nor a band-aid but a solution that goes to the core of w hat plagues mankind and provides a lasting cure. That solution is Islam.

Once there was a very handsome,pious, well educated young man, whose parents emphasized for him to get married. They had seen so many marriage proposals, and he had turned them all down. The parents thought it was becoming a little ridiculous or suspected that he may have someone else in mind.
However every time the parents left the girls house, the young man would always say "she's not the one!" The young man only wanted a girl who was religious and practicing (which was hard to find). However one evening hismother arranged for him, to meet a girl, who was religious and practicing.
On that evening, the young man and girl were left to talk and ask each other question (as one would expect). The young man, being a gentleman that, he was allowed, young lady to ask first.
Young girl asked the young man so many questions. She asked about his life, his education, his friends, his family, his habits, his hobbies, his lifestyle, his enjoyment, his time pass, his experiences, his shoe size and hislikes and dislikes. Basically everything!
And the young man replied to all of her questions, without tiring and politely with a smile. Young girl took up nearly all of the time,over an hour and felt bad and asked the young man do you have any questions?
Young man said, yes, only have 3 questions...
Young girl thought, wow, only 3 questions okay, go ahead and shoot.
Young man's first question was, (1) Who do you love the most in the world, someone who's love nothing would ever overcome? She said, this is an easy question! Answer to your question is my mother.
Young man smiled and asked second question, (2) You said that you read a lot of Qur'an, could you tell me which Surahs you know the meaning of? Hearing this she went red and embarrassed and said I do not know the meaning of any yet, butI am hoping to soon Inshallah I have just been a bit busy.
The third question the young man asked, was (3) I have been approached for my hand in marriage, by girls that are lot more prettier than you, why should I marry you? Hearing this, the young girl was outraged, she stormed off to her parents with fury and said I do not want to marry this man he is insulting mybeauty and intelligence.
And the young man and his parents were once again, left without an agreement of marriage. This time, the young man's parents were really angry and said what did you do to anger that young girl, the family was so nice and pleasant, and they were religious like you wanted. What did you ask the girl? Tell us!
Young man said, firstly I asked her, who do you love the most? She said, her mother. The parentssaid so, what is wrong with that?
Young man said, "no one, is Muslim, until he loves Allah (SWT) and his Messenger (saw) more than anyone else in the world." Ifa woman loves Allah (SWT) and Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) more than anyone, she will love me and respect me and stay faithful to me, because of that love and fear for Allah (SWT). And we can share this love, because this love is greater than lust for beauty.
Young man said, then I asked, you read a lot of Holy Qur'an, can you tell me the meaning of any Surah? And she said no. because Ihaven't had time yet. So I remembered the saying of Imam Shafi'i, "All humans are dead except those who have knowledge ... And all those who have knowledge are asleep, except those who do good deeds... And those who do good are deceived, except those who are sincere ... And those who are sincere are always in a state of worry (for others)."
She has lived 20 years on this earth and not found any time, to seek knowledge, why would I marry a woman, who does not know her rights and responsibilitie s and what will sheteach my children, except how tobe negligent, because the woman is the Madrasah (school) and the best of teachers. And a woman, who has no time for Allah (SWT), will not have time forher husband.
The third question I asked her was, that a lot of girls, more prettier than her, had approached me for marriage, why should I choose her? That is why she stormed off, getting angry.
Young man's parents said that is a horrible thing to say, why would you do such a thing; we are going back there to apologize. Young man said I said this on purpose, to test whether she could control her anger.
Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said "Do not get angry, do not get angry, do not get angry" repeatedly when asked how to become pious, because anger is from Satan.
If a woman cannot control her anger with a stranger she just met, do you think she will be ableto control it with her husband?
So, the moral of this story is, a marriage is based on: Knowledgenot looks, Practice not preaching,Forgiveness not anger, Spiritual love not lust and compromise!
One should look for a person who(1) Has love for Allah (SWT) and his Messenger (saw) (2) Has knowledge of the deen (religion),and can act upon it (3) can control her anger and another important and crucial factor that she be (4) willing to compromise.
And it goes both ways, so women seeking a man, should look for the same things.
May Allah (SWT) make every marriage a success and let us create Love for Allah and his Messenger (saw) so that Allah (SWT) can bless us, and create love in our lives.

PORK MEAT IN ISLAM

In Islam it is a major sin to eat Pork and it is considered to be the dirtiest animal in Islam. But many Muslims, including me, don’t even know why its so forbidden. A Christian is asking about the reason for the prohibition on pork Why does Islam forbid pork, when the pig is one of the creations of God?.

Praise be to Allah.

Firstly:

Our Lord has forbidden eating pork in definitive terms. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Say (O Muhammad): I find not in that which has been revealed to me anything forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be Maytah (a dead animal) or blood poured forth (by slaughtering or the like), or the flesh of swine (pork); for that surely, is impure or impious (unlawful) meat (of an animal) which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allah (or has been slaughtered for idols, or on which Allah’s Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering)”

[Al-An’aam 6:145]

By the mercy of Allaah and His kindness towards us, Allaah has permitted us to eat all good things, and He has not forbidden anything but those that are impure. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“…he allows them as lawful At‑Tayyibaat (i.e. all good and lawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons and foods), and prohibits them as unlawful Al‑Khabaa’ith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons and foods)”

[al-A’raaf 7:157]

We do not doubt for an instant that the pig is a dirty and filthy animal, and that eating it is harmful to man. Moreover it lives on dirt and filth, and it is something that is off-putting to those of a sound nature who refuse to touch it, because eating it is either a cause or a sign of a person’s oddness.

Secondly:

With regard to the physical harm caused by eating pork, modern science has proved a number of things, such as the following:

‎ Pork is regarded as one of the kinds of meat that contain the most cholesterol, an increase of which in the bloodstream leads to an increased likelihood of blocked arteries. The fatty acids in pork are also of an unusual formation, when compared with the fatty acids in other types of food, which makes them more easily absorbed by the body, thus increasing cholesterol levels.

‎ Pork meat and pork fat contribute to the spread of cancers of the colon, rectum, prostate and blood.

‎ Pork meat and pork fat contribute to obesity and related diseases that are difficult to treat.

‎ Eating pork leads to scabies, allergies and stomach ulcers.

‎ Eating pork causes lung infections which result from tapeworms, lung worms and microbial infections of the lungs.

The most serious danger of eating pork is that pork contains tapeworms which may grow to a length of 2-3 meters. The growth of the eggs of these worms in the human body may lead to insanity and hysteria if they grow in the area of the brain. If they grow in the region of the heart that may lead to high blood pressure and heart attacks. Another kind of worm that is to be found in pork is the trichinosis worm that cannot be killed by cooking, the growth of which in the body may lead to paralysis and skin rashes.

The doctors have confirmed that tapeworm disease is regarded as one of the serious diseases that may result from eating pork. It may develop in the small intestine and after several months may grow into a large worm whose body is composed of a thousand segments, with a length of 4-10 meters, which lives alone in the intestine of the infected person and part of it may appear when he defecates. When the pig swallows and ingests its eggs, they enter the tissues and muscles in the form of larvae sacs containing fluid and the head of the tapeworm. When a person eats infected pork, the larva turns into a complete worm in the intestine. These worms cause weakness and vitamin B12 deficiency, which leads to a specific type of anaemia, which may in turn cause nervous problems. In some cases the larvae may reach the brain, causing convulsions, increased pressure within the brain, epilepsy and even paralysis.

Eating pork that is not thoroughly cooked may also lead to trichinosis (infestation with a hairlike nematode worm). When these parasites reach the small intestine, three to five days later many larvae appear which enter the intestine and reach the blood, from which they reach most of the tissues of the body. The larvae move to the muscles and form cysts there, and the patient suffers intense muscle pains. The disease may develop into infection of the cerebral membrane and brain, and infections of the heart muscle, lungs, kidneys and nerves. It may be a fatal disease in rare cases.

It is well known that there are some diseases that are unique to humans and are nor shared with any other animals except pigs, such as rheumatism and joint pain. Allah indeed spoke the truth when He said (interpretation of the meaning):

“He has forbidden you only the Maytah (dead animals), and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allah (or has been slaughtered for idols, on which Allah’s Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering). But if one is forced by necessity without willful disobedience nor transgressing due limits, then there is no sin on him. Truly, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful”

[AL-Baqarah 2:173]

These are some of the harmful effects of eating pork. Perhaps after studying them you will not have any doubts that it is forbidden. We hope that this will be the first step in your being guided towards the true religion. So stop, research, look and think, objectively and fairly, seeking only to find out the truth and follow it. I ask Allah to guide you to that which is best for you in this world and in the Hereafter.

But even if we did not know about the harmful effects of eating pork, this would not change our belief that it is haraam in the slightest, or weaken our resolve to abstain from it. You know that when Adam (peace be upon him) was expelled from the Garden, it was because he ate from the tree from which Allah forbade him to eat. We do not know anything about that tree, and Adam did not need to enquire into the reason why it was forbidden to eat from it. Rather it was sufficient for him, as it is sufficient for us and for every believer, to know that Allah has forbidden it.

Look at some of the harmful effects of eating pork; look at the research of the Fourth Annual Conference of Islamic Medicine, Kuwait edition, p. 731 ff; and Al-Wiqaayah al-Sihhiyyah fi Daw’ al-Kitaab wa’l-Sunnah by Lu’lu’ah bint Saalih, p. 635 ff.

But we ask you once again: Isn't pork forbidden in the Old Testament which forms part of your Holy Book?

“Do not eat any detestable thing. These are the animals you may eat… The pig is also unclean; although it has a split hoof, it does not chew the cud, you are not to eat their meat or touch their carcasses.”

(Deuteronomy 14:3-8)

We do not need to quote evidence that pork is forbidden for the Jews. If you have any doubt then ask people and they will tell you. But what we think we need to draw you attention to is some other things that are also mentioned in your Holy Book, this time in the New Testament which tells you that the rulings of the Torah still apply to you and cannot be changed. Does’t it say in the Bible that the Messiah said:

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.”

Matthew 5:17-18?

With this text, we do not need to look for another ruling on pork in the New Testament, but we will add here another quotation which shows definitively that pork is impure:

“A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. The demons begged Jesus: ‘Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.’ He gave them permission, and the evil spirits came out and went into the pigs.”

Mark 5:11-13

Perhaps you will say that this is abrogated, and that Peter said such and such and Paul said such and such…?

This is changing the words of Allah and abrogating the Torah and the words of the Messiah who confirmed to you that it would abide as long as heaven and earth remain. Can this be abrogated by the words of Paul or Peter?

Let us assume that this is true and that the prohibition was indeed abrogated, but why are you criticizing this prohibition in Islam when it was prohibited for you at first?

Thirdly:

With regard to your saying that if eating it is forbidden, then why did Allah create pigs? We do not think that you are serious, otherwise we would ask you: why did Allah create such and such of other things that are harmful or repulsive? Rather we would ask you: why did Allah create the Shaytaan?

Is it not the prerogative of the Creator to command His slaves as He will, and to rule them as He will. No one can overturn His ruling or change His words.

Is it not the duty of the created being, the slave, to say to his Lord, whenever He commands him to do something: “We hear and we obey”?

You may enjoy its taste and want to eat it, and those around you may enjoy it, but doesn't Paradise deserve some sacrifice on your part of that which your heart desires?.

THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN AN ALCOHOLIC AND A SCHOLAR

Alcoholic: “Do you think I am doing wrong by eating a date?”

Scholar: “No.”

Alcoholic: “And if I ate with it some Grass?”

Scholar: “There is nothing wrong with that.”

Alcoholic: “And if I was to wash them down with water?”

Scholar: “Drink and enjoy.”

Alcoholic: “Since all of that is permissible, then why do you forbid us from alcohol, which consists of the above mentioned ingredients?”

Scholar: “If I poured water on top of you, would that hurt you?”

Alcoholic: “No it would not.”

Scholar: “And if I was to sprinkle some dirt in that, would you be hurt?”

Alcoholic: “That would not harm me.”

Scholar: “But if I were to mix water and dirt together and through a process make a large brick from those two elements, and then were I to throw that large brick at you, would you be hurt?”

Alcoholic: “That would kill me!”

Scholar: “The same goes for alcohol.”

‘O you who believe, Intoxicants, and Gambling, and the altars of Idols, and the Games of chance are Abominations of Shaytaan; you shall avoid them, that you may succeed.’ (Quran Surah ‘Maai’dah’ 5:90)

It was reported by Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), that Nabi Sallallahu alaihi Wa Sallam said: “Allah’s curse falls on ten groups of people who deal with alcohol.(1) The one who distills it, (2) the one for whom it has been distilled, (3) the one who drinks it, (4) the one who transports it, (5) the one to who it has been brought, (6) the one who serves it, (7) the one who sells it, (8) the one who utilizes money from it, (9) the one who buys it and (10) the one who buys it for someone else.”(Sunan Ibn-I-Majah Volume #3, Book of Intoxicants, Chapter 30 Hadith # 3380)

THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT

All praises is due to Allah. We praise Him, ask him, and seek his forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from evils of ourselves and mischiefs of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, cannot be misguided. Peace and blessings be upon the Final Messenger Muhammed , on his family and his noble companions , Ameen

Belief in Doomsday is one of the fundamentals and pillars of faith. It is the day when everyone is to get recompense and punishment for one's work and has to go to heaven or hell according to one's deeds. This is the reason each and every Prophet warned his people of the Day of Judgement.

As for the knowledge of the time of Qiyamah (End of the World) , it has not been given to any angel or Prophet. Nobody besides Allah knows when the final hour is.

The Quran states, O Prophet the infidels ask you about the time of Qiyamah. So tell them that it's knowledge is with Allah only. (Surah Luqman)

However certain events are going to take place prior to the coming of the final hour. These events are known as the Signs of Qiyamah. All the Prophets informed their people of the signs of the final hour. Our Prophet Muhammed being the last and the seal of Prophets, knowing that Doomsday is to come upon this very ummah, explained clearly and in considerable detail the signs of the final hour to the extent that sometimes he would lecture his companions all day on this subject.

Abu Zaid (R.A.) says, 'The Holy Prophet sat down on the pulpit after Fajar Prayer and began a deliver a long sermon until the time for Zohr prayer came. After saying the Zohr prayer he again sat on the pulpit and began the sermon, which continued till Asr prayer. After the Asr prayer he resumed the sermon so much so that the sun set. he related whatever happened in the past and also related in detail whatever is to happen in the future. Those amongst us who had good memories retained many things.' (Muslim)

The signs of the final hour can be divided into two groups.

1) Minor signs

Minor signs are events of normal nature prophesised by our Prophet Muhammed to take place before Qiyamah like the consumption of alcohol, lifting of knowledge and prevalence of ignorance and immorality and signs of this nature. The majority of the minor signs have appeared while some are occurring and some will appear with major signs.

2) Major signs

Major signs ae events of extraordinary nature prophesied by our Prophet to take place before Qiyamah like all the events mentioned in the following hadith narrated by Hudhaifa ibn Usayd that the Prophet said, 'The last hour will not arrive till you have seen ten signs. He then mentioned the Smoke, Dajjal, Beast, Rising of the Sun from the place of it's setting, the Descent of Isa, Ya'juj Ma'juj, Three Landslides, one in the East , one in the West and one in the Arabian Peninsula after that a Fire would spread from Yemen and drive the people to their place of gathering.' (Muslim).

Symptoms of The Day of Judgment

Verily one day, the earth, the skies, humans, jins and Angels will all expire. Only Almighty Allah is All Existing. Before the world comes to an end, a few signs shall become apparent.

1. Three earth‑shattering earthquakes will occur causing many people to be swallowed by the earth. One will occur in the East, one in the West and one in Arabian Peninsula.

2. Knowledge will be taken away, in other words, the Ulama will be taken away from this world (very swiftly). This does not mean that the Ulama will remain and the knowledge will be taken from their hearts (It means that the Ulama will pass from this world).

3. There shall be an excess of ignorance.

4. Adultery will be in abundance. This will be so open, like donkeys mate with one another (without any shame). There will be no modesty between the old and the young.

5. The population of men will decrease and the population of women will increase. For every one man, there will be fifty women.

6. With the exception of the big 'Dajaal' there will be thirty other Dajaals, and all of them will claim to be Prophets, even though the door of Prophethood has been sealed. Some of these Dajaals have already passed, such as Musailama Kazaab, Tuwaila bin Khuwaild, Aswad Ansi, Sajjah (was a female who later accepted Islam) and Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani, etc. (and others like Rashad Khalifa etc)

7. There shall be an abundance of wealth. The river Euphrates will unveil its treasures which will form mountains of gold.

8. Lush vegetation and orchards will grow in the Arabian Desert.

9. To remain firm on Islam will be as difficult as holding burning coals in ones hand. People will go to the graveyard and wish that they were amongst the dead.

10. There will be no barkat in time. A year will pass like a month, one month will pass like one week, one week will pass like one day and one day will pass so fast, like when something burns rapidly after catching fire. In other words, time will pass very swiftly.

11. People will feel it a burden to give their Zakaat. They will think of it as a punishment.

12. People will study religion but not for the purpose of religion.

13. Husbands shall become the slaves of their wives.

14. Children will disrespect their parents.

15. People will associate with their friends and shun their fathers.

16. There will be shouting and bickering in Musjids.

17. Music will be in abundance.

18. People will curse their predecessors and use bad language when addressing them.

19. Wild animals (Lions, tigers etc.) will converse with humans. The tip of whips and the tongues of shoes will talk. They will say whatever a person did whilst in the market place.

20. Those disgraced persons who once had no clothes or shoes to wear, will live in huge mansions with pride and arrogance.

21. The appearance of Dajaal. With the exception of Haramain Sharifain (Makkah and Madinah), he will travel the entire world in forty days. In the forty days, the first day will be equivalent to one year, the second day will be equivalent to one month, the third day equivalent to one week and the rest of the days shall all be of twenty fours each. He will travel with great swiftness, like the strong winds steer the clouds. His fitna (corruption) will be very potent. He will have with him a garden and a huge fire. He will refer to his garden as Jannat and his fire as Jahanum. These will go with him where ever he goes. That which looks like a garden, will be fire and that which seems like fire, will be a garden. He will claim to be Allah. He will enter all those who bring faith in him into his garden and he will enter all those who reject him into his fire. He will bring the dead back to life, He will command barren land to grow lush vegetation, He will cause it to rain, He will cause the livestock to become healthy, When he enters a barren land, those buried there will rise and follow him like swarms of bees. He will show various other amazing signs, and in reality all these will be illusions and the tricks of shaitaan. They shall have no bearing with reality. When he leaves any place, the people living there shall be left with nothing. He will try to enter Makkah and Madinah, and the Angels appointed by Almighty Allah will turn him away from this direction. Three earth tremors shall occur in Madinah Shareef. There will be those who live in Madinah under the pretext of being Muslims, but they will be kaafirs and their end will be with dajaal. These people will leave Madinah with fear of the earth tremors and will join the army of dajaal. The army of the Jews will be with dajaal. The word 'Kaafir' will be engraved on his forehead. All true Muslims will see this clearly, but the kaafirs will not be able to see this. After travelling the world, he will go to Syria. At this time, Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam) will descend on the Eastern Minaret of the Jaame Musjid of Damascus. It will be early in the morning. The Iqaamat for Namaaz‑e‑Fajr would have already been called out. Hazrat Imam Mahdi (radi Allahu anhu) will be present in this Jamaat. Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam) will command him to lead the Fajr Namaaz. Hazrat Imam Mahdi (radi Allahu anhu) will lead the congregation and Dajaal will start melting through the fragrant breath of Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam), like salt melts in water. This fragrant scent of Hazrat Esa's (alaihis salaam) breath will spread for as far as the eye can see. He will flee and Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam) will pursue him, and throw a spear into his back, sending him towards the fire of hell.

22. We have briefly explained the descending of Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam) above. During his era, there shall be abundance of wealth. If any person gives wealth to another in this time, then he shall refuse it. There shall be no jealousy and hatred during this time. Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam) will destroy all the crucifixes (crosses ‑ symbol of Christians). He will kill the swine. All the people of the book will accept Islam and bring Imaan on him. At this time, there shall be only one religion in the world and that will be Deen‑e‑Islam and one Mazhab namely Mazhab‑e‑Ahle Sunnat. During this time, children will play with snakes and goats and lions will graze together. Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam) will be on the earth for forty years. He will marry and have children. After he passes away, he will be laid to rest in the Rauza‑e‑Anwar (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam).

23. A brief synopsis of Hazrat Imam Mahdi's (radi Allahu anhu) arrival is as follows: A time will come when the entire world will be trapped in kufr. During this time, all the Abdaals and the Awliyah from all over the world will make Hijrat to Harimain Sharifain. It will be the only place where there will be Islam. The rest of the world will be filled with kufr. It will be the month of Ramadaan and the Abdaals will be making tawaaf of the Kaaba and Imam Mahdi (radi Allahu anhu) will also be present there. The Awliyah Allah will recognize him and will request to take (Bai'at) the oath of Allegiance at his hands. He will refuse to fulfill their requests. Just then, a voice would be heard saying, 'This is Mahdi, the Khalifa of Allah. Listen to what he says and adhere to his commands." Immediately, all the Awliyah will take bai'at at his hands. He will take all of them with him and journey to Syria. After the killing of Dajaal, Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam) will receive a command from Almighty Allah, in which Allah will command him to take all the Muslims onto the Mount Toor, since such a nation would emerge, with whom none shall be able to do battle.

24. Yajooj Majooj (Gog and Mgog): They will emerge after all the Muslims go onto the Mount Toor. Their population will be very large. When they pass through Buhira Tibriya (which is a ten mile long river) the first jamaat that passes through will drink every drop of water in this river. When the second jamaat passes through, they will feel that there was never any water in the river before their arrival. They will kill and destroy everything that is in their path causing mayhem. After all the killings and massacres, they will say, 'we have killed those all those on earth. Now let us kill those in the sky'. They will launch their spears into the sky and through the Will of Allah, they spears will return to the ground covered in blood. On the mountain Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam) and his followers would be facing very harsh conditions. There will be a scarcity of everything. The price of one head of a cow will be even more valuable than the value of one hundred Ashrafis (gold coins) today. Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam) and his companions will make dua and Almighty Allah will create a worm in the necks of the Yajooj Majooj. All of them will die instantly. After their destruction, Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam) will descend with his followers from the mountain. They will see that the entire earth is covered with the foul smelling remains of the Yajooj Majooj. Again Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam) and his companions will make dua. Almighty Allah will send a bird, which will lift their remains and discard of them where Allah Wills. The Muslims will burn the spears, bows and arrows and quivers. These will burn continuously for seven years. After this, it will rain. The rain will cause the earth to be cleaned. The earth will be commanded to grow delicious fruit and vegetation. The skies and the earths will be commanded to unveil their bounties. The condition during this time will be so fulfilling, that one entire congregation will be able to eat one pomegranate (Anaar) and ten people will be able to sit under the shade of the pomegranate peel. There will be barkat in everything. One entire congregation will be able to drink milk from just one camel, one entire clan will be able to drink the milk from one cow and one entire family will be able to drink milk from one goat.

25. A huge cloud of smoke will appear causing darkness from the earth up to the sky.

26. Daabatul Ard will emerge. This is a creature which will have the Aasa (Stick) of Hazrat Moosa (alaihis salaam) and the ring of Hazrat Sulaiman (alaihis salaam) in its hand. He will make a bright mark on the foreheads of the Muslims, by using the Aasa of Hazrat Moosa (alaihis salaam) and by using the ring of Hazrat Sulaiman (alaihis salaam); he will make an ugly black spot on the foreheads of the Kaafirs. At this time, all the Muslims and Kaafirs will be known clearly to all. This sign will never change. Those who are Kaafirs will never become Muslims and those who are Muslims will never lose their Imaan.

27. The sun will rise from the west. When this phenomenon occurs, then the doors of Tauba will be sealed. If any person accepts Islam after this, his Islam will not be counted.

28. After the passing away of Hazrat Esa (alaihis salaam) and when only forty years are left for Qiyaamat, a fragrant breeze will blow which will pass under the armpits of the people. When this happens, then all the Muslims will pass away and the entire earth will only be inhabited by kaafirs and it is upon them that Qiyaamat will come. Only a few signs of Qiyaamat have been explained here. Some of them are already evident and others are still to occur. After the fragrant breeze blows under the armpits of the people, and when all the Muslims have passed away, then there will come such a time, wherein no child will be born for forty years, in other words there will be no one younger than forty years of age. There will be kaafirs everywhere. There will be none to take the name of Almighty Allah. People will be engrossed in their worldly lives, painting their homes and feasting etc. when Hazrat Israfeel (alaihis salaam) will be commanded to blow the 'Soor' The sound of the soor will be very low at first and it will then slowly increase in power. People will strain their ears to listen to this sound, which will render them unconscious. This will cause them to die. The skies, the earth, the soor and even Israfeel (alaihis salaam) and all the creation will cease to exist. With the exception of One Allah, nothing else will be in existence. Almighty Allah will say, 'Whose Supreme Rule is there today?' (Where are the Tyrants and the Arrogant today? None will be in existence to answer). Almighty Allah will then say, 'It is only the Rule of One Allah, The Most Powerful'. Then, when Almighty Allah wills, He will cause Hazrat Israfeel (alaihis salaam) to rise again. The soor will be brought back into existence and Allah will command Hazrat Israfeel (alaihis salaam) to blow the soor. All the creation of Allah, the Angels, Jins, humans, animals etc. will come back into existence. The Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) will be the first to rise from his blessed Rauza‑e‑Anwar. He will rise with Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (radi Allahu anhu) on his right and Hazrat Umar‑e‑Farouk (radi Allahu anhu) on his left. Then all the Muslims buried in Makkah and Madinah Shareef will rise.The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) will take all of them with him and go towards the Plains of Resurrection.

~ Etiquette of Eid ~

The Sunnahs that the Muslim should observe on the day of Eid are as follows:

1 – Doing ghusl before going out to the prayer.

It was narrated in a saheeh hadeeth in al-Muwatta’ and elsewhere that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar used to do ghusl on the day of al-Fitr before going out to the prayer-place in the morning.
Al-Muwatta’ 428.

Al- Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said that the Muslims were unanimously agreed that it is mustahabb to do ghusl for Eid prayer. The reason why it is mustahabb is the same reason as that for doing ghusl before Jumu’ah and other public gatherings. Rather on Eid the reason is even stronger.

2 – Eating before going out to pray on Eid al-Fitr and after the prayer on Eid al-Adha:

Part of the etiquette is not to go out to pray on Eid al-Fitr until one has eaten some dates, because of the hadeeth narrated by al-Bukhaari from Anas ibn Maalik, who said that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used not to go out on the morning of Eid al-Fitr until he had eaten some dates… of which he would eat an odd number.

It is mustahabb to eat before going out to emphasize the fact that it is forbidden to fast on that day and to demonstrate that the fast has ended. Ibn Hajar (may Allaah have mercy on him) suggested that the reason for that was so as to ward off the possibility of adding to the fast, and to hasten to obey the command of Allaah. Al-Fath, 2/446

Whoever does not have any dates may break his fast with anything that is permissible.

But on Eid al-Adha it is mustahabb not to eat anything until one comes back from the prayer, so he should eat from the udhiyah if he has offered a sacrifice.

3 – Takbeer on the day of Eid

This is one of the greatest Sunnahs on the day of Eid because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “(He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allaah [i.e. to say Takbeer (Allaahu Akbar: Allaah is the Most Great)] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him” [al-Baqarah 2:185]

It was narrated that al-Waleed ibn Muslim said: I asked al-Awzaa’i and Maalik ibn Anas about saying Takbeer out loud on the two Eids. They said, Yes, ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar used to say it out loud on the day of al-Fitr until the imam came out (to lead the prayers).

Al-Daaraqutni and others narrated that on the morning of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, Ibn ‘Umar would strive hard in reciting takbeer until he came to the prayer place, then he would recite takbeer until the imam came out.

Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated with a saheeh isnaad that al-Zuhri said: The people used to recite Takbeer on Eid when they came out of their houses until they came to the prayer place, and until the imam came out. When the imam came out they fell silent, and when he said takbeer they said takbeer. See Irwa’ al-Ghaleel, 1/121

Saying takbeer when coming out of one's house to the prayer place and until the imam came out was something that was well known among the salaf (early generations). This has been narrated by a number of scholars such as Ibn Abi Shaybah, ‘Abd a l-Razzaaq and al-Firyaabi in Ahkaam al-Eidayn from a group of the salaf. For example, Naafi’ ibn Jubayr used to recite takbeer and was astonished that the people did not do so, and he said, “Why do you not recite takbeer?”

The time for takbeer on Eid al-Fitr starts from the night before Eid until the imam enters to lead the Eid prayer.

In the case of Eid al-Adha, the takbeer begins on the first day of Dhu’l-Hijjah and lasts until sunset on the last of the days of tashreeq.

Description of the takbeer:

It was narrated in the Musannaf of Ibn Abi Shaybah with a saheeh isnaad from Ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) that he used to recite takbeer during the days of tashreeq:

Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, wa Allaahu akbar, Allaah akbar, wa Lillaah il-hamd
MEANING; (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is most Great, there is no god but Allaah, Allaah is Most great, Allaah is most great, and to Allaah be praise).

4 – Offering congratulations

The etiquette of Eid also includes the congratulations and good wishes exchanged by people, no matter what the wording, such as saying to one another Taqabbala Allaah minna wa minkum (May Allaah accept (good deeds) from us and from you” or “Eid mubaarak” and other permissible expressions of congratulations.

It was narrated that Jubayr ibn Nufayr said: When the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) met one another on the day of Eid, they would say to one another, “May Allaah accept (good deeds) from us and from you.” Ibn Hajar said, its isnaad is hasan. Al-Fath, 2/446.

Offering congratulations was something that was well known among the Sahaabah, and scholars such as Imam Ahmad and others allowed it. There is evidence which suggests that it is prescribed to offer congratulations and good wishes on special occasions, and that the Sahaabah congratulated one another when good things happened, such as when Allaah accepted the repentance of a man, they went and congratulated him for that, and so on.

Undoubtedly these congratulations are among the noble characteristics among the Muslims.

The least that may be said concerning the subject of congratulations is that you should return the greetings of those who congratulate you on Eid, and keep quiet if others keep quiet, as Imam Ahmad (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: If anyone congratulates you, then respond, otherwise do not initiate it.

5 – Adorning oneself on the occasion of Eid.

It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said that ‘Umar took a brocade cloak that was for sale in the market and brought it to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and said, “O Messenger of Allaah, buy this and adorn yourself with it for Eid and for receiving the delegations.” The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to him, “Rather this is the dress of one who has no share (of piety or of reward in the Hereafter)…” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 948.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) agreed with ‘Umar on the idea of adorning oneself for Eid, but he denounced him for choosing this cloak because it was made of silk.

It was narrated that Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had a cloak which he would wear on the two Eids and on Fridays. Saheeh Ibn Khuzaymah, 1756,

Al-Bayhaqi narrated with a saheeh isnaad that Ibn ‘Umar used to wear his best clothes on Eid.

So a man should wear the best clothes that he has when going out for Eid.

With regard to women, they should avoid adorning themselves when they go out for Eid, because they are forbidden to show off their adornments to non-mahram men. It is also haraam for a woman who wants to go out to put on perfume or to expose men to temptation, because they are only going out for the purpose of worship.

6 – Going to the prayer by one route and returning by another.

It was narrated that Jaabir ibn ‘Abd-Allaah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: On the day of Eid, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to vary his route. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 986.

It was said that the reason for that was so that the two routes would testify for him on the Day of Resurrection, for the earth will speak on the Day of Resurrection and say what was done on it, both good and bad.

And it was said that it was in order to manifest the symbols of Islam on both routes, or to manifest the remembrance of Allaah (dhikr), or to annoy the hypocrites and Jews, and to scare them with the large number of people who were with him. And it was said that it was in order to attend to the people’s needs, to answer their questions, teach them, set an example and give charity to the needy, or to visit his relatives and uphold the ties of kinship.

✦The Qur’aan is the foremost aid to standing firm in Islam. It is the strong rope and clear light of Allaah. Whoever adheres to it, Allaah will protect him; whoever follows it, Allah will save him; and whoever calls to its way will be guided to the Straight Path.Allaah has stated that the reason why this Book was revealed in stages was to help His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to stand firm in his faith. In the context of refuting the doubts of the kuffaar, He says (interpretation of the meaning):“And those who disbelieve say, ‘Why is not the Qur’an revealed to him all at once?’ Thus (it is sent down in parts), that We may strengthen your heart thereby. And We have revealed it to you gradually, in stages. And no example to similitude do they bring (to oppose or to find fault in you or in this Qur’aan), but We reveal to you the truth (against that similitude or example), and the better explanation thereof.” [al-Furqaan 25:32-33]Why is the Qur’an such a source of strength?1. Because it cultivates faith and purifies the soul through contact with Allaah.2. Because these aayaat bring peace and tranquillity to the heart of the believer, so he will not be tossed about by the winds of fitnah; his heart will be content with the remembrance of Allaah.3. Because it provides the Muslim with the correct understanding and values with which he will be able to evaluate the situation around him. It also gives him the standards against which he may judge things in a proper and consistent manner, without varying from one situation or person to another.4. Because it refutes the doubts that are stirred up by the enemies of Islam, kuffaar and munaafiqeen alike, as in the following examples from the early days of Islam:--(a) The effect of the aayah (interpretation of the meaning): “Your Lord (O Muhammad) has neither forsaken you nor hated you” [al-Duhaa 93:3] on the heart of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), when the mushrikoon said, “Muhammad has been forsaken…” (See Saheeh Muslim bi Sharh al-Nawawi, 12/156).--(b) The effect of the aayah (interpretation of the meaning): “… The tongue of the man they refer to is foreign, while this (the Qur’aan) is a clear Arabic tongue” [al-Nahl 16:103]. The Quraysh claimed that Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was taught by a human being and that he took the Qur’aan from a Roman carpenter in Makkah.--(c) The effect of the aayah (interpretation of the meaning): “…Surely they have fallen into trial [fitnah]…” [al-Tawbah 9:49] on the hearts of the believers, when the munaafiq had said, “Grant me leave (to be exampted from jihaad) and put me not into trial.” [al-Tawbah 9:49 – interpretation of the meaning].Is it not the greatest of help, strengthening the heart of the believer, refuting doubts and silencing the voices of falsehood? Indeed it is, by Allaah.When the believers were coming back from al-Hudaybiyah, Allaah promised them much war booty which they alone would go and take (i.e., the booty of Khaybar). [He told them that] the munaafiqoon would ask to accompany them, but the Muslims would say, “You shall not follow us.” They would persist in trying to change the words of Allaah, and they would say to the believers, “Nay, you envy us,” to which Allaah responded by saying, “Nay, but they understand not except a little.” [al-Fath, 48:15 – interpretation of the meaning]. Then all of this happened to the believers, step by step, word by word.From this we can see the difference between those whose lives are connected to the Qur’aan, who read it, recite it, memorize it, study it, ponder its meanings and take it as their starting-point and their refuge, and those who are preoccupied with the words of man.

Too frequently urinating and some time not urinating at all for days al-together without any medical reasons.

Frequent back-winds/gas and not able to keep wudhu even until completing one prayer. He can’t go to masjids at all. It was not cured with medicine.

One boy having head ache only on the school working days, head ache will start in the second hour of of school and during the examination periods. School of days no head ache. For almost 6 years this has been continuing and all medical treatments have failed. It was confirmed because of a jinn.

One kid, feels frightened while hearing adhaan from masjid. She responds while hearing quran and tries to block hearing.

Please note: that we can NOT say in every cases having the above symptoms are due to Jinn/ Sihr/ Eye. They can be with medical reasons as well. We can conclude it is due to jinn / sihr only when ruqyah is heard and you experience the symptoms listed below.

The main nature of a disease due to jinn possession or sihr are:

b). If the disease are not cured permanently with medicine even after year's treatment, (may be temporarily responding for medical treatments). and

c). If doctor fails to see the reason and if doctor do not know A confirmed treatment. Such cases can be due to Jinn possession/Sihr. So any disease the reason and treatment are not conclusively known to the medicine we can doubt may due to jinn possession/sihr.

d). Mere guessing from the side of doctors should not be relied. In such cases we should doubt it is due to jinn / sihr / eye etc. So ask the doctors about the authenticity of treatment - is it a mere guessing or a confirmed treatment?

e). On and Off: coming and going of the disease is a symptom in most cases for jinn possession and sihr. But symptom due to evil eye, in most cases, will be of stable without being ON and OFF.

f) If the doctors say to take medicine for an indefinite period, and the disease occurs on stopping the medicine. Then in such cases what you using is not to cure rather to make the patient complaint-less / adaptive for the disease.
