Police Manhunt Begins for 23 yr. old Killer. Brooklyn police have begun a serious manhunt for 23 year-old Maksim Gelman who violently lashed out on Friday in a killing spree which resulted in the death of his stepfather, his ex-girlfriend, and her mother. Gelman is also wanted for “commandeering a passing car, stabbing the driver, stealing the car and running down a pedestrian” according to sources.

The trouble apparently began around 5 a.m. on Friday when Gelman arrived home “appearing to be drunk or high and demanded use of one of his parents' two cars” according to one neighbor’s report.

When Gelman’s stepfather, 54 year-old Aleksandr Kuznetsov, refused Gelman’s request, a violent argument broke out between the two. Police say Gelman, “grabbed a knife and stabbed his stepfather several times.”

Gelman then allegedly fled the scene of the crime in his mother’s 2004 grey Lexus only to appear again later at around 4:30 p.m. at his ex-girlfriend’s house where he reportedly stabbed both his ex-girlfriend and her mother to death. 9/11 Commission Air Cargo Screening Mandate, Fake Terror and an October Surprise. News of suspicious packages arriving from Yemen plundered the country into a panicked state of fear Friday morning. Some are calling it a fake terror plot thanks to the President’s remarks four days before the midterm election. Such an October surprise cannot be discounted entirely, but the point of this article is to chastise the Obama administration for dragging it’s feet on the 9/11 Commission air cargo screening mandate whether this particular scare today is a contrived fake terror plot or not.

It was September 15, 2009, near the anniversary of 911 that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) finally got around to implementing a cargo screening program for carrier packages entering the Unites States. The so-called Certified Cargo Screening Program (CCSP) implemented recommendations from the 9/11 commission issued three earlier.

The mandate required that all cargo containers carried on passenger airplanes be inspected by August 2010. It went into effect only partially on August 2nd and inexplicably the government is inspecting the wrong cargo. The initial focus is on domestic to domestic passenger flights and domestic to international locations.

I’m with you. Nobody cares about terrorism leaving our country except for Obama’s administration. For typical reasons (it’s harder) the government is not inspectingflights to the United States originating from foreign countries. Turns out that some inspection is occurring before the flights depart places like Yemen, but only 50% according to the TSA.

Additionally cargo planes themselves, 99% of cargo entering the United States, are not covered by the mandate and not screened. FedEx and UPS screen their own cargo using their own methods and standards of care. Peyton gives Colts 24-0 halftime lead over Giants. INDIANAPOLIS — Peyton Manning reverted to his old form — just in time to beat up on his younger brother Sunday night on national television.

Manning led the Colts on two long first-half touchdown drives Sunday night, throwing a 50-yard TD pass to Dallas Clark and a 3-yard TD pass to Austin Collie, as Indy built a 24-0 halftime lead over the New York Giants.

The only four-time MVP in league history had plenty of time to work Sunday, a major improvement over the season opener when Manning hit the ground 13 times.

He was aided in large part by a suddenly strong ground game. Joseph Addai and Donald Brown ran 23 times for 124 yards and one TD in the first half. Addai's 80 yards rushing were his most in any game since he had 105 against Houston on Nov. 16, 2008.

And the Giants' offensive ineptitude only made things worse.

On the first play from scrimmage after Manning connected with Clark for their 43rd career TD connection — tying the second most in league history among quarterback and tight ends — Eli tried to outdo his older brother.

Bad choice.

Eli's 57-yard throw was deflected by safety Antoine Bethea, went through the hands of Steve Smith and was finally intercepted by Jerraud Powers at the Indy 23. Peyton then took the Colts 42 yards in eight plays to set up Adam Vinatieri for a 38-yard field goal with 5 minutes left in the half.

And Peyton was only warming up. After Robert Mathis stripped the ball on a sack, and Eric Foster recovered, Peyton took found Collie for a 3-yard TD pass with 9 seconds left in the half.

It was that kind of half for the Giants.

While Peyton was a proficient 13 of 18 for 154 yards and two scores, Eli was 3 of 8 for 17 yards with one interception and lost one fumble.

Eli expected it to be better than this.

"It's my seventh year in this offense now so, it's been a great week," he told NBC before kickoff. "It's been less stressful than the first time when you had five months of press dealing before this game instead of one week. It's been a little bit more enjoyable for Peyton and I."

But it was a miserable start for Eli and the Giants, who had only five first downs in the half.

This is the second time the Super Bowl-winning brothers have faced one another during their NFL careers. Peyton won the first matchup 26-21 in 2006, the same season he won the Super Bowl. The brothers shook hands twice at midfield, before and after the coin toss, and exchanged greetings as they arrived on time for the game — unlike the NBC commercial in which Peyton wound up locked in a closet.

Their parents, Archie and Olivia, were expected to watch from a box at Lucas Oil Stadium. The oldest Manning brother, Cooper, did not attend.

Dallas Clark, Reggie Wayne and Peyton Manning were all looking for milestone achievements, too. Manning and Wayne needed to hook up for one TD pass to tie John Unitas and Raymond Berry (63) for the second-highest scoring combination in franchise history. Fire pit may have sparked Colo. wildfire. BOULDER, Colo. – Hundreds of people evacuated during one of the most destructive wildfires in Colorado history returned to their scorched homes Sunday, surrounded by the dreary sight of burnt trees, melted mailboxes and uneven patches of blackened ground.

Residents were allowed to return to their homes in the Boulder foothills as residents about 35 miles away fled their houses and anxiously watched television images of another fast-moving wildfire that has already destroyed at least one Loveland-area home and grown to about a square mile in size. No injuries have been reported in that fire.

In Boulder, firefighters inched closer to fully containing the blaze that has burned 10 square miles and authorities investigated what caused it.

A senior law enforcement official familiar with the investigation told the Denver Post that authorities are looking into whether a fire pit sparked the wildfire, which could mean criminal charges are possible. The newspaper did not name the official.

Authorities previously said the fire may have started after a vehicle crashed into a propane tank. The sheriff's office is aware of the Post article but won't comment on the cause or origin of the fire because it's under investigation, said Sarah Huntley, a spokeswoman for the fire response.

Like other residents, Nancy and Jim Edwards picked up a permit Sunday morning to re-enter their neighborhood, but they found out that the roads leading up to where they live is still closed. Jim Edwards said they might drive as far as they're allowed.

"We might take a ride, but it is really heartbreaking to see the stuff," he said.

Edwards said he spotted their house through a telescope from Flagstaff Mountain outside Boulder and saw that it was destroyed.

"It looked like a nuclear disaster," Nancy Edwards said. She said they plan to rebuild.

At one destroyed property, all that remained was a stone chimney surrounded by walls of brick about waist high. Saplings in the front yard were burnt and barely their trunks remained. Christchurch on New Zealand’s South Island, has been closed to the public after a massive earthquake, 7.0 magnitude, crumpled roads and buildings in the Canterbury area.

Central Christchurch has been completely cordoned off to the public such was the damage, New Zealand’s One News reported.

Civil Defence Headquarters has called a state of emergency, activating the national crisis centre, as reports surfaced of collapsed buildings, cracks in bridges and roads, crushed cars and disrupted water and sewage pipes.

While there have been no deaths reported to date, a number of injured have presented at Christchurch Hospital, Radio New Zealand reported.

Christchurch is New Zealand's second largest city with a 386,000 population.

Cell phone networks have repotedly gone down and electricity has been cut to around 75 per cent of the area.

Although Civil Defence is urging people to remain calm and to stay in their homes, people in the towns of New Brighton and Brookland have been warned they may have to evacuate if water and sewage continue to flood the area.

His site, The Blaze, is described by Beck as a place, “where you can find breaking news, original reporting, insightful opinions and engaging videos about the stories that matter most."

So what matters most in the world of Glenn Beck? It appears racism at Al Sharpton’s gathering to celebrate the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a Dream” speech is pretty important. There’s also some flame-fanning to be done on the ground zero mosque debate, a few articles on “Obamacare,” and one post about a recent report criticizing the practices of the United Nations International Panel on Climate Change. All right there on the front page — well, actually screen — of theblaze.com

Interestingly enough, Beck’s top stories of the day don’t match those posted on the Fox News website. As for material written by Beck himself, his “Message from Glenn Beck,” explains that he had to put a journalism team together to counter other “news” sites. “We moved fast. We built the team and the site in just two months,” Beck wrote.

Of course, many comparisons are surfacing that Beck is trying to be the right-wing’s Arianna Huffington, with The Blaze being his Huffington Post. But Beck is more powerful than Huffington. While the Huff Post is still the gold standard for news blog sites, Huffington’s books don’t sell nearly as well as Beck’s. His opinions on his television show may not make sense, but his ratings are through the roof. And Beck is certainly not worthy of being in the same sentence as Martin Luther King Jr., but thanks to his rally, it happens all the time now.

UFC 118 Results: Frankie Edgar Beats Heartless BJ Penn For Second Time. Saturday night in Boston Frankie Edgar retained his lightweight UFC belt via unanimous decision by frustrating, exhausting and demoralizing BJ Penn. Looking like the only fighter to improve since their previous bout, Edgar was faster, crisper and more energetic than Penn. BJ on the other hand seemed to have learnt nothing from his title loss months ago. Penn looked like a sparring partner for a jumpy, dynamic and almost casually confident Frankie Edgar.

Upon walking into the ring, Penn had a depth of focus that seemed inhuman and frankly, scary. Edgar bounced into the octagon looking like he was about to go for a workout. Up until 10 seconds into the bout, the aura of invicibility surrounding Penn seemed to foreshadow an inevitable comeback victory. But Edgar began to float into and out of Penn's reach and to outscore the former champ. Penn was flat footed while Edgar looked like an upside down bungy-jumper with his incessant and visually confusing -- and therefore highly effective -- bob n' weave. The crisp snap of Edgar's kicks and punches did not always land but they did keep coming. Whereas Penn seemed content to react to Edgar, appearing to look for that one lucky combo to rattle and slow down the buoyant Edgar. A combo which never came. Edgar did not manage to overwhelm Penn but he did outscore him and force him to play at his pace. Penn stuck to mostly countering Edgar. Always a bad game plan for a challenger.

Although the actual punch count would have been in Edgar's favour by slightly less than a dozen, the lightweight champ had the more stunning shots and took Penn down 3 times and kept the Hawaiian prodigy on the canvas for minutes on end. Penn managed only two take downs but he had to scrap and scramble for them and both were eventually reversed or escaped from by Edgar. In the end, Edgar did not finish or overwhelm Penn but he stunted and confused him much more soundly than in their first match.

The biggest disappointment for BJ fans should not be the final outcome but the road to that outcome. BJ had a ferocious vibe as he entered the octagon. If only he had fought as ferociously, Penn fans would have a certain satisfaction to help nurse their disappointment. But within a minute of this rematch, it appeared Penn's gameplan was not proving difficult for Edgar and Penn went into an Edgar/Penn 1 trance and marched himself to a predictable technical defeat. The Randy Coutures, Chuck Liddels and Matt Hughes of the sport loose but they do so only after letting it all hang out. When a gameplan is not working, you do not become your opponent's sparring buddy, coasting to a comfortable defeat and avoiding drama and trauma. You dig deep and you try everything... EVERYTHING in your arsenal. Both the well practiced and the spontaneously created come out and you fight for your title, career and legacy. True champions have heart. That kind of heart. Unfortunately, this was distinctly absent from BJ Penn on Saturday night. In the pre-fight interviews from his fight camp, Penn stated that he surrounded himself with sparring partners that were not "here to hurt me." Perhaps this was a strategic mistake. That kind of fight camp may make for good friendships, but it isn't the cauldron from which you can forge a comeback. Between the 4th and 5th rounds, Penn's corner was not giving him D-Day instructions. There was an awkward silence and someone said something along the lines of "hey, he stole [the belt] now you go get it back." This is barely motivational to someone currently frustrated by a guy who has already beat him only several weeks ago. What BJ needed from round 2 onwards was a consistent dose of reality. "Hey, Penn. You're the better fighter, but you're not fighting like it. You need to risk getting knocked out by letting your hands, feet, knees and elbows go. Now."

The overall disappointment is that Penn is a better fighter than Edgar. But the size of Edgar's heart and the depth of his will were twice that of Penn. And it was enough to turn off Penn's will to win. BJ is an emotionally motivated figher. He is not quiet and cerebral like Couture and he is not relentless like Clay Guida. Purely emotional fighters can ride a tidal wave of optimism when things are going their way. But they can crash stunningly when their bubble is popped by stubborn opposition.

Drake Marries Nicki Minaj: "She's Finally Mine". Just as Drake said he was hoping to do one day in his tune "Miss Me," the rapper has gone ahead and married Nicki Minaj.

"Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham and dont stare at her too long. She's finally mine. :)," he tweeted Friday afternoon.

No other details were forthcoming at this time, but Minaj went ahead and confimed via Twitter as well.

"Yes, its true. Drake and I tied the knot," she wrote, after asking her new hubby, "U scurred? @drakkardnoir u ready to make the announcement or wha?"

To which he replied (and she retweeted), "Baby I am never scared. PROUD is more the word I would use."

Drake, who starred in the hit Canadian series DeGrassi: The Next Generation under his born name, Aubrey Graham, canceled his European tour this summer so that he could spend more time with his ailing mom. And apparently he decided to throw a daughter-in-law into the mix.

True Blood 3.10 “I Smell a Rat” Appraise. So Sookie is an alien. I’m glad that’s solved.

After all the stakings, shootings and bludgeonings of the previous episodes, 3.10 took a step back to let us take our collective breath before the final epic showdowns. It looks like we will finally get to see the Bill (Stephen Moyer) vs. Eric (Alexandar Skarsgard) fang measuring contest we’ve been waiting three years for. It was a surprise that Eric chose to protect Sookie’s (Anna Paquin) life over his own. I don’t believe for one second that chaining her to a pole in the basement is anything other than a sign of awkward affection. Especially after they finally got to like, totally smoosh.

If you’re on Team Bill, you had to get all vampire gooey for his confessions of Sookie love. It was the first time all season I actually believed what Bill was saying as far as his emotions were concerned. It was also perhaps the first time anyone on TV has ever apologized for liking the way his girlfriend’s blood tasted too much.

Meanwhile on Team Furry, Sam (Sam Trammell) flash-backed to his murdering, jewel thieving days. Please and come on. Are we really to believe that this is the same level-headed peacemaker we’ve been watching for the last three years? It all seemed quite forced. It would have been far more effective (but just as superfluous) if they had given him some kind of repressed violence in his nature as a shifter. Instead we got Lassie James.

And how about that V trip taken by Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and Jesus (Kevin Alejandro) to bring out their inner shaman? It was interesting for about 30 seconds. Unfortunately, it went on for about five minutes. Dramamine anyone? Still, I like where this is going. Black arts. Dancing Mary. (Let’s see who we can offend this week, shall we?) I don’t know that we’ll see much of this storyline develop in the final two episodes. More likely, it will set up part of the cliffhanger for Season Four.

Tara (Rutina Wesley) and Jason (Ryan Kwanten). Talk about kicking a woman when she’s already on the fast train to some serious crazy making. It seems like Tara’s entire character arc this season is for the purpose of bringing her closer to being a few Eggs short of a dozen (sorry). Not sure there are any more therapy groups left for her to join. She’s going to snap quicker than Lindsey Lohan passing by a Walmart pharmacy. Mass carnage sure to follow.

And now we’ve also added a Wiccan and a Werepanther to the mix. I can’t imagine what the Census must look like in Bon Temps. Or which Alan Ball wants us to think is the worse threat. (Let me see, have I offended Wiccans yet? Nope.)

Perhaps the sweetest scenes of all were the ones between Hoyt (Jim Parrack) and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll). Yes, love is back in the air. And so are rabid pit bulls. There’s nothing more endearing than drinking the blood of a slashed wrist to bring two lovebirds back together. But this is the storyline that scares me the most. It’s not going to end well for someone. One can only hope it will be Tommy (Marshall Allman), but I’m not so sure. I fear for Bear.

And how cool was it to see Jason pull out the whole “ixnay on the invitay” on Bill? Funny stuff.

It’s unfortunate that the episode began its wrap up with Russell’s (Denis O’Hare) sadistic meltdown. We’ve already seen how much he mourned Thalbot. We don’t need another reason to be scared of him. This was rather self-indulgent filler that took away from a fairly solid episode.

Jonathan Cheban and The Spin Crowd. E!’s new reality TV show The Spin Crowd stars Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck who are the owners of Command PR which is a celebrity PR firm. Some of you may have watched a special called SPINDdustry that aired last February, well it was a big hit and the new show was born. I have to say I have seen the promos and I think it looks great!

In terms of a bio for Cheban we all know that he is a PR genius thanks to his incredible talent and slew of famous friends. Basically he can make just about anything be in, it and fabulous just like him. At one point in his career he worked with the infamous Lizzie Grubman, some have called him her protégé.

PR isn’t Jonathan’s only business venture he also has a clothing line called Kritik. It used to be a popular line with celebrities, surprise surprise but there hasn’t been much hype about it lately.

Cheban currently splits his time between New York and La La Land, which makes sense given his career choice.

Sports columnist Jay Mariotti arrested in Los Angeles.ESPN personality and AOL sports columnist Jay Mariotti was arrested on a felony charge early Saturday in Venice.

Officer Norma Eisenman said the 51-year-old Mariotti was arrested following a "domestic incident." The Sheriff's Department website confirmed Mariotti was booked on an undisclosed felony charge at 5:45 a.m. Saturday. He was released on $50,000 bail just after noon.

Police said Mariotti got into an argument with his girlfriend at a club in Santa Monica, where he believed she had been flirting with another man.
