Samsung S7 edge or Iphone 6s

2016-04-01T02:58:00.001-07:00

It is inevitable when a new competitive product comes about, you have to do more homework as in which is better suited for you. In this case, smartphone battle!

I have been wanting to change my current cellphone for quite a while now and since I have never used an iphone besides an ipad, initially I thought Iphone 6s will be the one to go for.

Then, most recently Samsung came up with a new S7 edge , one that has a massive storage space to expand to, one that Apple has not ventured into. I wonder why. Therefore, it just made my shopping a bit harder.

I have found one comprehensive video comparing the two rivals and I believe I have made my choice. You will see it later when the actual transaction is sealed and done. *wink*

For those of you who has similar worriment as me, hope this video below helps.

Blog Interview With Daniel C

2015-08-27T23:23:00.000-07:00

Daniel C is a Penang singer/songwriter who recently produced his first self written album 'If I Could'. He is a self taught guitarist, electone trained from a young age. As for his journey as a performer, Daniel has performed with local celebrities like Dasha Logan and Kelvyn Yeang. Daniel C is also known for his solo acts where he has recently appeared in an interview with 8tv Quickie, which showcased his original compositions back in 2013.

Not only does he sing, he also has the heart to inspire. Daniel C was also a speaker and performer in the recent TedX Weldquay in 2014. His recent involvement in the IndiePG stage has earned him a place in the hearts of the local scene.

His song, If I Could has also recently made it into the Malaysian English Top 10 charts in August 2015 which he made number 1 two weeks into the chart. His music genre has an influence of country/folk style and inspired by international artist such as Keith Urban, Jars of Clays and Goo Goo Dolls. My personal favourites from the album is Time of Need, If I could and The Remnants.

Check out the dates for the official launch of the album in Penang and Kuala Lumpur at the end of the page.

He is the kind of guy who can play anywhere, anytime. Just hand him a guitar and there you have yourself a serenade. I recently met up with him and he made my faithful old guitar sounds so good . Now for the up close and personal, lets get to know Mr. Daniel C a little deeper.

*My first curiosity question, why Daniel C and not Daniel Chan?

The name Daniel is so common these days. Therefore to try and maintain my identity and making it easy to remember, I opted for the name Daniel C.

* Who or what is your greatest influence in your life generally? That it would directly or indirectly influence your music.

To single out something or someone as my greatest influence would be unjust to the rest. All my friends, family, mentors and past experiences have equally shaped the person and songwriter I am today. Every experience and every memory paints a small stroke on a canvas which ultimately paints the whole picture.

* Tell us the story behind your single that had topped the charts in Malaysia English

Top 10 - ‘If I Could’.

This song has an interesting tale stringed to it. I was chatting with a friend of mine one day and our conversation was a peculiar one. After ending the conversation, I sat there daydreaming, eyes fixed on my wall. And all of a sudden, as if a fairygodmother waved her magic wand, a melody and lyrics woven together with it started playing in my head. My usual songwriting technique would be to write either the melody first or the lyrics first. But this tune had both in it, so therefore this song has always been special to me.

* You have performed in quite a number of stages, where would be your dream stage?

I would definitely love to perform at Madison Square Garden one day.

* How was the process in the production of your first album?

The process took longer than I anticipated. I wanted to attempt doing my first album entirely on my own but of course, I had some help from Colin (my sound engineer) co-producing the album with me. I was the only one who recorded most of the instruments you hear on my album, therefore, I had to come in very often to the recording studio and try out effects. Sometimes just recording one part can take up an entire day.

* For your fans to get to know you more, what other passions do you have besides

music?

I don’t think anybody knows this but I dream of being a spacefarer one day, If that’s ever possible. I’ve always wanted to work in NASA or, ultimately, become an astronaut. I always had this connection to spacey sci-fi stuff but I guess that is
because this interest has been instilled in me ever since my adolescent years. Star-Trek, Star Wars, Star Gate, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, you name it I know it.

* What song in the album impacted you the most and why?

I believe the song The Remnants has done so. This song speaks about myexperience in the work field and in life. When everyone leaves you to do all the work that is left, but you soldier on because you believe in what you’re doing. And that said so, being the remnant in the field. But at the end of the song, I speak on to assure those who feel like they are alone in their personal battles, to know that we have a Cornerstone, a sure foundation that will help us to rise again if we fail or fall.

* What did you want your career to be when you were in school? And how do you feel about your current position now?

I wanted to be many things. I actually thought about being a rockstar or a popstar. Still working towards that now actually!

* Any sneak peek into any new project? What can we expect to see from you next year or in the near future?

I so happen to have a new song written for my next album but it is bare at the moment. You can find it here:- The Daniel C - All Those Nights
You can also visit and like my facebook page and be updated at The Daniel CMC Facebook Page

* What would your message be to motivate the new aspiring songwriters?

To just keep writing and writing. Even though you’re a full time engineer or a doctor, you can still write, so keep writing and the world will one day hear you!

Thanks Daniel for doing this blog interview with me and we wish you the best God can give to you and your future endeavors.

Stalker - CBS new series

2015-05-12T09:03:00.000-07:00

I thought I would have enough of Criminal Minds but when I heard about Stalker, here we go again.

Stalker is a psychological thriller about this unit in the LAPD that investigates stalking cases. And that includes voyeurism, internet stalking/cyber harassment or romance fixation. Two famous actors Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott is starring in this new series as lead detectives, Maggie Q as the boss Lt. Beth Davis and Dylan McDermott as the newly transfer, Detective Jack Larsen.

Check out trailers, clips and about the stars at CBS-Stalker

I gotta admit what drawn me to the series was first Maggie Q then the storyline. Ever since I did a write up on Nikita, I got to know who she is, as she is expressive and pretty detailed for the things she stands for and etc. Besides the fact that she can really kick butt, she is strong as a woman in the values she believes in. I admire the strenght of women being displayed on tele as well as talks.

Imagine stalking over Facebook, the drop of hints when someone is looking out at your every post can feel a little weird, and then the admiration begins, they start to do more, invading schedules and the list goes on. It's bad when jealousy is apparent in stalking cases, it could lead to murder depending on the mental state of the person.

This show covers all types of stalking cases, from everyday people to celebrities, politicians, kids and so on. What's interesting as well are the lives of the detectives. Lt. Beth has a tragic history of stalker turned murderer in her life and Detective Jack stalks his son who was prevented by the mom from seeing him, the biological father.

Throwing caution to the wind, watching shows like these can sort of educate our mind to be aware of our surrounding and to be vigilant. Hope to see season 2 of Stalker soon.

Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2015

2015-03-04T08:01:00.001-08:00

The first time in the island of Penang , Hot air balloon fiesta was held in a wide area field at Padang Polo. Throngs of people were there as early as 4.00am to queue up for the tickets.

Flashes and clicks was at work in that early dusky morning. Thanks to a friend who was able buy tickets for us, we were in the first batch. If not, I doubt we would be able to sit in it till evening. Partly because there was numerous complaints about one person is entitled to purchase 4 tickets, the rule was changed to one person per ticket later on.

Just a few pictures in my phone to share.

Our early bird ticket

Although it was just a short while, I'm glad to capture one good overall picture from the top. Especially the monster face.

Proud of Progress

2015-02-17T07:43:00.000-08:00

Fairytales tells you only one thing; Happily Ever After. Truth be known, reality can’t always be. Truth aside, I still love fairytales. It’s hope like the famous saying “Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you'll land among the stars”

I’m not going to be lengthy on how life should be dealt with or motivate you with the best positive lines I can churn up. I’m trying to be positive everyday. I'm a Christian so I know my life is guided by God, the creator of heaven and earth no matter how hard I fall, I know there’s always a way out for the better.

Some of you might find peace and solace in the god you believe and some of you might find yourself or people around you to be the pillar(s) in your life.

We just have to sit down in quiet solitude to think about life, review them, if you are getting the best there is to this one life we have been bestowed. I’m not saying we should be greedy and ditch all self worth to get what you want. In fact, when reached the stage of success in whichever area it might be, one must be able to look back and be proud of the progress.

I’ve always prayed,”God, if I ever forget my values and my self-worth in doing anything, cause me not to be comfortable till I change”. And that was an extremely uncomfortable prayer however I felt that that is who I should be. I’m just glad that there is Someone watching over me.

Xiaomi Mi3 Personal Review

2014-11-23T05:43:00.000-08:00

My take on Mi3.

Xiaomi brand is solid contender to the named brands like Apple and Samsung. It is similar to an Iphone but with the Android system.

I bought a Mi3 which you can read of its full specs at GSM Arena. It costs me RM730 with free screen protector. I was very impressed by its capabilities as the pixel is satisfactory and the touch is splendid.

There was only one regret which I didn't check out before I bought it which was the lousy microphone which distorts and therefore I do not get the video nor recording quality as I have hope.

Everything else is pretty cool and worth the buy. So if you are into taking video or recording voice, this is not for you.

For those of you who are currently using Mi3, here are some great tips and tricks to fully utilize the functions of an Mi3

How to Workout Without Working Yourself Up

2014-09-13T22:26:00.000-07:00

Many times we feel we let our body down when we don't exercise. We can't find the time, sedentary life in the 9 to 5, working out with kids maybe, or just too tired for it.

Try my methods, it's not hardcore workout because if you can do those, then you don't really need these tips. On the other hand, its great when you are really busy and you need to squeeze in some tone to the body.

1. In the bathroom:
While showering or brushing teeth, do squats for your thighs.

While showering, do some shadow boxing placing your feet firmly on the floor. There is no need to move the feet unless you're in the living room.

While conditioning hair, do wall push ups

2. In The Living Room

While watching TV, during commercial break or intentional break from the DVD, do planks. Afterall you do know, its good to rest the eye away from the screen every once in a while.

This exercise below can be done while work or at home.

3. In the car:
Squeeze your butt with 10 reps and break in between.
Sit up straight and suck in your tummy for 45 seconds before
breathing out and repeating few times similarly to the one below.

4. In the office or a workstation where applicable

Take a 1 liter water bottle, lift it behind your shoulder and lifting it up and down as straight as you can. Then shift to the hand.

Taking a break from work and do this at your desk.

Place both your palm on the side of the chair, facing inward to you, drop your body down slowly and use your arm strength to lift yourself up, and repeat few reps till you're use to it then increase. Tone the triceps.

Just so you know, all this can be done in the comfort of your own home, not necessarily at work or in the car. It's applying simple workouts during your routine of life.

IN everything, moderation is the best when it comes to food. For me, I eat breakfast like a prince, lunch like a king and dinner like a pauper on most working nights.

Women need to drink at least 3 liters of water a day while men 4 liters.

You have to find what works for your lifestyle when trying to stay as fit as possible is your priority. All the best to you!

It's One of Those Days

2014-09-07T08:20:00.001-07:00

It's one of those days where you know you have many things to do and you can't do it cos Mr. Flu and Madam Ulcer gives you a pain in the neck.

Worst yet, although you want to have a good sleep, the mind just plays your life's responsibilities over and over like it's telling you to get up and do it. It's what keeps you awake.

It's one of those days, you succumb to the body's ailments and excuse thyself from doing anything important.

Well, it's one of those days for me and I've got almost the perfect outlet, complain in writing. As I write , I'm starting to feel sleepy, words just bounce off my mind. And now time for the true slumber, I'm signing off.

Writing did help after all..........

Go-Girl (Don't Take Life Sitting Down)

2014-06-12T06:15:00.002-07:00

"Ladies, don't you sometimes wish you could pee while standing?"

When no clean toilets are available or if you are in the middle of nowhere and the thought of squatting in unknown bushes scares the pants out of you, what would you wish you had in your bag that might save your day?

Fret no more, Go-Girl has arrived to save the day. It is a US product that recently entered Malaysia via My Avenue as a distributer.

Go-Girl (FUD or Female Urination Device) gives a lady a convenient way to avoid the common discomforts of some dirty public toilets and to do the necessary in peace. Like a man in short.

Here's my Go Girl

Easy as 1 2 3:

1. Unnecessary details aside and cutting down to the chase, I went to the loo and held it against the 'wee wee' part of my body and with my hand (dominant one) holding it like I hold a golf club. My thumb facing up. Basically, securing the top and bottom cover is the most important thing to avoid leaks.

2. Aim and let it flow. No leakage problems nor messy encounter. The material (medical grade silicon ) is strong yet flexible.

3. Rinse with water and mild soap, left it open to dry then I wrapped it within 2 tissue papers and finally, I kept it in the baggie provided.

Go to My Avenue / My Avenue FB page to purchase one and have a try.
Great as gifts too.

Pros: Easy to use and handy in times of 'need'. No more half squatting over the toilet bowl nor put up with environments you can't stand.

Cons: A little expensive if were to throw after one use or a few uses.

Have a look at this interview:

Now you can stand to 'pee' without withstanding the 'eek' - Grace speaks.

Maleficient

2014-06-03T09:54:00.000-07:00

Maleficient is a remake of Sleeping Beauty and what makes this movie so good is Angelina Jolie. The storyline is touching , exciting, abit dark at some point and the key thing is knowing the childhood of Maleficient. How she became evil. This movie probably appeals more to the ladies. But, I don't mind hearing from the men's side.

A love tale gone sour because the man betrays his woman for glory. An innocent young happy lady only knew one love and he broke her heart and for the literal part, he sliced off her wings.

Anger, bitterness took over and soon a curse was made over the child of her ex-lover, Aurora played by Elle Fanning.
Maleficient, the broken fairy became evil overnight.

Angelina Jolie plays Maleficient so intensely well. So right for the role. Hard and tough on the outside but soft and tenderhearted on the inside. Only the crow and Aurora knew whats inside her. Who is the crow? Diaval(Sam Riley), an interesting character, he plays a pivotal part in assisting Maleficient in all her endeavours. I shall not say more but leave you to watch it for yourself. Angelina Jolie's 5 year old daughter is in it too!

I felt it was a bit short, that certain parts could have been amplified and expanded for audience to engaged in the emotional intensity between Maleficient and Aurora and Maleficient and Diaval. Nevertheless, I love it and it's a must watch movie.

Moses Chuah and Sons Band

2014-06-01T19:12:00.000-07:00

Every state in every country has their local bands playing live music in hotels, bars, restaurants and so on. It's for the locals who enjoy listening to good music. However it's not often you get a family band and so it is my pleasure to introduce you to Penang local family band, Moses Chuah and Sons.

The main man is none other than Moses Chuah the lead singer and keyboardist. Trail blazing a similar path for his children, they are his two sons Melvin playing bass and violin, and Dexter playing drums. The wife, Ivy is also a musician but focuses on teaching mainly. Kudos to her for mentoring and preparing the sons to not only hone their talents from young but also embracing it as their present passion. Like I said it is a family affair.

They are indeed a talented bunch and they can entertain you with their jazz songs, evergreen music and many more. They also play for events like weddings and birthdays. You can find out more at their page

Moses Chuah Fanpage

I support local talents and Penang has many of them, some known, some unknown. Nevertheless it's always an honor to recognise them and highlight their God given gifts in my blog whenever I have the opportunity.

Recently they were performing at Talk Talk Winebar and Lounge, Sungai Dua.

Here are some of the photos of the night.

XMEN:Days of Future Past 2014

2014-05-25T09:33:00.000-07:00

X-Men, my favourite non human powered people for comics. I was always intrigued by their individual powers as compared to other superheroes.

It's abit darker, mysterious, and the uncanny way of Charles Xavier grouping the mutants together in a university is an added bonus. Probably thats how Monster Inc got the idea?

It's also interesting to see the young Xavier communicating with his future self Xavier. It will be so cool to have my future self tell me what I could do to make my future a more smooth sailing one.

Having said that, a little about 'Day of the Future Past'

It begins with war between the mutants and the droids that were created by a famous midget (Peter Dinklage, one of the star of Games of Thrones) to destroy their species. Coming to an end of their kind, the only option was to change the past to correct the future. He is such a talented actor with an articulate tongue, I must say.

Very well planned storyline I might say, and Wolverine was the only one for the job because of his quick self healing properties. Practically immortal.

You will get to see the original cast of xmen and some of the new ones as well. Including the younger self of Xavier, Magneto and Beast.

The cast without their costume

I love the ending because I bet the upcoming X Men, we will get to see some more of the original cast. Nevertheless, the new ones are complementing as well.

If you have never seen any Xmen movies, please watch it all. Helps you to connect some dots and understand their relationships better. Happy watching!

Reality Bites vs Bring it On

2014-04-08T08:54:00.000-07:00

'Reality Bites'. This phrase has gotten into my system since the day I watched Reality Bites. It's a 1994 movie starred by Wynona Ryder, Ben Stiller and Ethan Hawke in their early days of stardom.

I have no recollection of what it was about but of course by googling it I will probably remember. The point is, I carried that phrase with me since then till 2014. I believe avid readers, literature lovers, word enthusiasts has an inkling to store words, phrases in their brain of dictionary while the other majority couldn't care less what was spoken or read as long as they understood.

When we are at the crossroads of life, and some of us might not be contented with the position, job, relationship, that's when we sit back and sigh 'Reality bites'. It will speak of moments of wallowing in regrets and what ifs, jealousy and insecurity. It's also as if we have accepted defeat, whatever that might be.

The phrase 'Bring it On' exudes a more positive atmosphere which I'm trying to adopt rather than Reality Bites. Bring It On is also a movie in 2000 starring Kirsten Dunst and it's about winning a cheerleading competition.

So, that being said, I tell life to bring it on when I'm not contented with situations just to psych myself to face the situation and make better of it. Although, the outcome might not have been fast or satisfactory, it helps me to look out for the good in life, to appreciate what I have and never to give up.

I realised when I profess 'Reality Bites' , the tendency to procrastinate is so likely to happen that I wasted days in combating negative thoughts. Reality may bite our beautiful behind however we ought to fight the discontentedness and bring on on the light. The grass may seem greener on the other side but who is to say that this side of our grass is less greener. It's a matter of perspective.

Happiness is a choice of making it happen. The wise Solomon once said 'There is a time for everything' so don't let the bad days drown you but let the good days stay perpetual even if its layered below the bad because soon it will surface.

A Day of Sad History

2014-03-25T10:45:00.001-07:00

There are no words that can describe the turmoil and grieve of the families of MH370 passengers that they had to go through. The uncertainties and worrying for the past few weeks, not to mentioned the nightmare of just not knowing what happened to their loved ones is unimaginable.

We can only offer our deepest condolences and prayers in hope that you will somehow, someday find peace and love in your heart again. We pray for your heart to be consoled and may you be surrounded by the people you love.

Take your time to mourn but may it not dampen your spirit for too long. Your life is also precious. I am so sorry and sad to hear of your loss. Stay strong, take care and God bless your hurting heart.

Singapore, February 2014 – One night stay at Naumi Hotels enables us to contribute a little to those less fortunate.

As part of its celebration of Holi, an ancient Hindu festival, also known as the “Festival of Colours” as all ages go into the streets for fun, throwing of powder paint and coloured water to celebrate the victory of 'good' over 'bad' and also the triumph of devotion to god, Naumi Hotels celebrates the colour ‘Pink’ which symbolises the significant support of Breast Cancer Foundation and its cause. During this playful ‘Festival of Colours’, Naumi Hotels will proudly donate up to SGD$15 for every eligible room stay on 17 March 2014.

It is for the first time that Naumi Hotels is supporting Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds and awareness for women with breast cancer. “This initiative is for the most vulnerable people in our society. It is important for corporate organisations like us to fulfil our social responsibility by assisting those less fortunate.” Mr Surya Jhunjhnuwala, the Managing Director of the Hind Group shared his sentiments.

Mr Jhunjhnuwala said he was overwhelmed with joy when he heard the free cancer screening for those aged 50 and above sponsored by Singapore Cancer Society in late January this year. “As part of the FIT50 project, we want to make a difference and it is a golden opportunity not to be missed, to share our love, hope and happiness. At the same time, the ability to share a random act of kindness materialises.

” Do what you can to spread the good word of fighting against the big B C. Celebrate Holi, Festival of Colours that empowers us to commit ourselves to good deeds. Dress in FUN & BOLD pinks to draw attention to the cause! Proceeds will benefit the comprehensive Breast Cancer Foundation

ABOUT HOLI

The Holi festival commemorates the victory of good over evil, brought about by the burning and destruction of the demoness named Holika. This was enabled through unwavering devotion to the Hindu god of preservation, Lord Vishnu.

Holi is a symbolic commemoration of a legend from Hindu Mythology. The story centres around an arrogant king who resents his son Prahlada worshipping Lord Vishnu. He attempts to kill his son but fails each time. Finally, the king's sister Holika who is said to be immune to burning, sits with the boy in a huge fire. However, the prince Prahlada emerges unscathed, while his aunt burns to death. Holi commemorates this event from mythology, and huge bonfires are burnt on the eve of Holi as its symbolic representation.

Holi is also known as the Festival of Colours. This dates back to early historic period of Lord Krishna (reincarnation of Lord Vishnu). It is believed that Lord Krishna used to celebrate Holi with colours and hence popularized the same. (Source: About.com, Indiaexpress.com)

Valentine's Day Gig

2014-02-24T07:03:00.000-08:00

My Valentine's Day wasn't spent alone in a private dinner and holiday with my love. Instead I joined a band to sing at Queensbay Mall, Penang with a group of talented singers and musicians.

It was conducted in a dedication manner. A list of songs were posted up for the shoppers to choose a song to dedicate to their love one. Queensbay event team had a little boy and girl giving out flowers to couples as well.

I was always more comfortable dancing than singing solo as dancing was the very first music influence in my life. From primary school to secondary school and 'retired' after college.

But I surprised myself that day because there were barely any nervousness in me once I started.

Check out their event pictures on Queensbay Mall FB page
We have not a name for the band yet but we had a glimpse of ourselves singing for wedding if time permits. We are very much of an acoustic, harmony band. More focused on vocal dynamics with minimal instruments.

I have a music studio where various music lessons are conducted. It is situated in Sungai Ara.

Serendipity

2013-12-19T19:24:00.000-08:00

"Music soothes my soul, like words clears my mind,

And when I sing, it tunes my woes away,

When I play, it resonates with my inner peace,

When I dance, it stirs the rhythm of my heart

to serendipity. " ~ Grace Ann
