The continuing case for Universal Health Care

The immoral system of “profit” based health care in the United States is contrary to civilized norms in any other industrialized country.

Each year in the United States, the health care insurance industry rakes in approximately 60 billion dollars in profits.
These profits, this money, paid by people for health insurance is above and beyond the needs of every
single person currently uninsured in the USA today.

If a “for profit” health care system is predicated on its ability to make money, they would want those of us lucky enough to actually have and afford health insurance to be either healthy or dead.
Health “care” is not their goal.
In other words, if their “compassion” for our illnesses or injuries is limited to their profit or loss statement, than the people in such a barbaric system are at the mercy of bureaucrats.
Which is the supposed reason they rally against a single payer, Universal health care system in the first place.

A single payer universal health care system for the United States would insure every person in the USA.
A universal health care program in the United States would not limit people to where or which doctor they could go to.
A single payer universal health care system would ensure that the monies paid by people for health care would go......for health care !
Universal health care saves costs simply by being available and serves as preventative medicine. Prevention is certainly more cost effective than retro-active treatment and care.

Universal health care would return the decision making power to those that should have it. The health care professionals and their patients. Eliminating the billions of dollars wasted on insurance industry salaries and their subsequent profits.

Finally, a single payer, universal health care system is a “payment” system, not a health care delivery system.
For profit, managed health care is immoral for a multitude of reasons, not least of which is because health care is not a commodity people shop for. By definition, a third party (insurance companies) for “profit” health care systems' goal is profit, NOT providing health care.

In every industrialized, civilized country in the world, health care is a “right” by virtue of being a person.
If in the United States, every “person”, not citizen, but “person” is entitled to an an attorney whether or not they can afford one, than why would people who are not under suspicion of committing a crime be denied health care.

The United States has the best health care in the world, yet it means very little when the populace has no access to it. Some would argue that universal health care is socialized medicine. Well, it is.

But what is wrong with having public schools or public libraries or the military? All of these things can be classified as “socialized” programs.
No one seems to have a problem with paying for car insurance because it is the law, but we as a society cant seem to pool our tax money to insure all of our people? It makes no sense.

It is time the United States joins the civilized world, its people and leaders need to realize that being a part of this country means contributing to the society in which they are a part.

A country in which ...... "For the people, by the people” means “them” the people as much as it means “me” the people !

“Born in liberty” does not mean that the founding fathers ever meant its future citizens to ... "live in abject poverty” or to “die in neglect.”

A Day in the Life of Joe Republican

Joe gets up at 6am and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards.

With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and they work as advertised.

All but $10 of his medications is paid by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too.

He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.

He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his workday. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union member fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.

If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get workers compensation check because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of a temporary misfortune.

It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FDIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.

Joe has to pay Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the country would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime.

Joe forgets that in addition to his federally subsidized student loan, he attended a state funded university.

Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the taxpayer funded roads. (Not private toll roads)

He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans.

He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking cheese eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to.

Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that the liberals are bad and conservatives are good.

He doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day and takes for granted today.

Joe agrees: We don't need those big government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have.

The Republican convention................

Former Governor Mike Huckabee gave a good lil speech, and you can't knock him for being a cheese ball because.........He's a CHEESE ball. We know it and expect it from him.

Then there was Rudy Guliani's speech. It was a powerful well advocated speech, even if you didnt agree with it.
Rudy always manages to play to the dumbest common denominator, but hey it was a "republican" convention, at least he knows his audience.

Palin rocked. Agree or disagree with her but thats not the point here, she gave a speech that hit home for many Americans.
If we are talking about good speakers (Orators) looks like Obama aint the only one.

Voters Remorse

Gallup polls comming in confirm that millions of people are having voters remorse.

The most important thing to remember now is that Senator Obama, if he ever was "electable" he is no longer electable.

With this new information I am even more convinced he will step down sometime after Pennsylvania.

He states that MI and Fla broke the rules.

Yet the "supers" are in the ...."rules".

You cant selectively pick and choose which rules you will or will not follow Senator !

When he argues against the "supers" with.. the "peoples voices" must be heard, he doesnt mean the voices in MI and Fla!

The best thing for the party and America is for Senator Obama to step down as soon as possible.

He cant win. The "supers" give it to ...her.
With MI and Fla she has the delegates and the popular vote...she wins.

On top of that Senator Obama is no longer "electable".

Per Senator Obama, "supers" should be voting with their constituency, yet New Mexico was won by Clinton and Massacussetts was won by Clinton. So the "supers" in those States should vote Clinton.

They include, Senator Kerry, Senator Kennedy and Gov. Richardson !

The man of "unity" has done nothing but inspire divisivness. He and his wife have honned hypocrisy to perfection.

America wins because he ....cant.

America has found "her" voice!!

Iowa - Correct.
This was the place Obama needed his win thats why we are still talking about him now.
For Clinton Iowa was a NO-win even if she won.
For Obama is was a MUST win.

New Hampshire---Correct
Clintons game starts in New hampshire.

Michigan---Correct
Clinton won 82 out of 83 counties. BIG.
Say what you want about MI but if she lost they would have made a stink about it.

Nevada---Correct
Clinton wins Nevada even with the Unions mess.

Now comes the interesting part, for Edwards.
If he wins South Carolina as he did in 2004 he's still in.
If Clinton or Obama wins he's as far gone as Gravel.

South Carolina is interesting for a few reasons.
#1 Obama is losing votes here to Edwards, the native son.
#2 Edwards is pulling votes from Clinton.
#3 Clinton is gaining votes due to recent MI and NV (Obama confidence is waning)
#4 Edwards confidence is slightly affected by NV.
Affecting a small loss of votes for him.

This will be one to watch.
The Obama/Edwards feud here should help Clinton.

I would like to be 5 for 5, so
I am stating for a slim win for Clinton.
However, THIS is the race MOST up in the air and alot riding on it. At least for Edwards.(and now even Obama)

I support Senator Clinton Not because I trust
her or any politician.
I have no reason to trust any of them.
Certainly NONE of them share ALL my views.

But I do believe in her experience, her tenacity and
intelligence.

When was the last time you heard about the government
talking about a "surplus ?"

Was it a good Presidency for the People... Yes it was.
Cuz Bill was stupid and got a BJ, didn't mean people were
losing their homes or jobs.

So if you want to look at the bad fine, by that token
you have to look at the good.

Was Iraq a bad Idea, yeah we're all pretty much agreed
on that. Did Clinton vote yes on Iraq back then when
emotions were running high about 9-11 ...yeah.

Remember how everyone said Reagan was a War monger
and would start WW3 ? Well even that nut didn't do that.

Did Most in the Senate "stand" with the President in
a show of Solidarity and in a "SHOW" of support so we
would not look weak after 9-11...yeah I think so.

Did the Senators (any of them) think that this
bastard would do what he did, when even azzhole
Reagan had more sense?...No, I don't.

Senator Clinton has been strong and consistent with
her belief in "diplomacy thru strength" to AVOID war.

Clinton tried to get Universal health care for
people when she didn't have to. She didn't have
to go and fight with anybody, it wasn't going to
make her a dime. And when Congress basically "gasped"
and said "what? people more important than profit"??
They shot her azz down.

Senator Clinton AT EVERY TURN has done the best for
the people NOT big business.

Was NAFTA good then, YES
Is it good now, NO

Whats the difference.... Economics 101.
In a good economy you want free trade in a bad one,
you DON'T.

Clinton Economy=Good
Bush Economy=Bad

Clinton could possibly use the system, she knows
so well, to get things done.

This week she basically told wall street
"Do whats right or we will do it for you"
In her pushing for a moratorium on foreclosures.

Senator Clinton has the best chance to win.

Polarizing, energizing? Yes fine, So is Bush, so are
the Republicans, so is the War.

We had a "non" polorizing candidate in Kerry.

I didnt vote "for" Kerry. I voted "AGAINST" Bush.
I don't need to tell you what happened!

Lets look at the General election possible voting pattern for Clinton:

Women...yep
Black vote ..come on they are NOT gonna vote repub
unless our nominiee is david Duke.
Liberal vote... yep
Hispanic vote.. I think so
Unless she picks Richardson (which I think she will)
THEN its a big YEP!!!!

Clinton-

Senator Clinton, walking in with the most to lose due to her lead and due to that she flubbed the last debate, walked in fairly confidently considering the pressure of a back to back lose, which could have cost her dearly. Her early "Asbestos" quip was a gamble. If she did well, it would indeed be a "ha ha" which would reinforce her lead and initial confidence. If she flubbed again, her own quip would have flung her into Gravel status.
Clinton did not have the best line of the night but she had the most:
"I'm not being attacked because I'm a Woman, I'm being attacked because I'm ahead."
"I'm not playing the gender Card I'm trying to play the winning card."
Slapping down Edwards with "Slinging mud right out of the Republican playbook."
(From which Edwards never recovered)
"NAFTA did not do as it was hoped." Ok, Lame. But she said it.
On Kyl-Lieberman Clinton said EXACTLY what I stated in my post a few days ago.
"Aggressive diplomacy thru strength"

On drivers licenses for illegal's she said "No" (Which I disagree with, but who am I but a big mouth who thinks he's right all the time. {stick out tongue here} )

Kucinich-

I Knew this guy was good. He got the most memorable line of the night of course. "Because I read it"
Referring to the Patriot act of course.
Then he proceeded to "slam" Edwards with the China trade deal "take responsibility,as a trial lawyer you knew better." Edwards was down for the count after this. (if he got a "slap" before, this was the KO)
He pulled no punches and stated his positions clearly. He did not seem all to happy up there either.
Which, strangely, gave him even more credibility by looking disgusted with the other candidates.
The only candidate who would not vote for the Dem nominee "Unless they would not use war as a policy"
This guy couldn't have had a better night. NO UFO'S.

Biden-

This is the Guy that also came on cheerful, jovial, not a care in the world.
Why?? Because he had NOTHING to lose.
And he was total "Joe"
Along with the easy going mode he was in, he spoke with authority due to his experience.
This guy knew what he was talking about. And the only one who calmly, as-a-matter-of-factly countered Kucinich on the damage of the Patriot Act, like he was saying "good morning."
Leaving me with the feeling of "Presidential."

Dodd-

Dodd laid out what Dem's need to do to win the White House, and keep the House and Senate.
Effective on Unity. With the time he did get he spoke very well and very well in Spanish. While it was impressive, somehow it just wasn't the big bang.
He spoke with Authority but also with anger. Although I'm not sure at what. Is it just the way he speaks??
He was effective. Anyone remember him today??

Richardson-

"My name is Bill Richardson" ---Did the trick !! Ingratiating and approachable.
He was strong on education.
He was for DL "for" illegal's.
And was "for" Hero cards for Veterans. Which left me wondering about everyone else. That's a lot of people to leave out.
Environment, yada, yada, ....Gore.
Reminded me of Gore. Plus or minus? up to you!!

Obama-
Next is Obama, which has only moved up because Edwards moved down.
This was the biggest surprise for both supporters and critics alike.
If anyone "lost" the debate this is it.
Coming in with the loudest applause, Senator Obama was one of the two boo-ed for going negative on Clinton. (uh-oh Iowa)
The attempt was there. It just didn't come thru. Hemming and hawing, all the things he was accusing of, but not being accused of, until now.
The only effective point he made was on the China trade policy. " Why isn't the U.S. insisting on our inspectors inspecting over in China? Like Japan is."
On social security was a valiant attempt but just did not break the glass ceiling.
Hold on!! When he said he wanted to "build schools in the Middle East" I fell off my chair!
HUH?? Economy bad, Debt up to eyeballs, no oil dividend, a "money pit" war, housing market, 37 million Americans starving! AND he's going to build schools in the Middle East?
For the guys that would love to bring us ....9-11......
9-12....9-13.....9-14----9-15 etc. ????
Looks like the Naive thing is not gone today.
Want to know why I'm not going into his mixed energy policy??

Edwards-

Was he even there? After he was slapped down with his own "mud"
His "attack strategy backfired. Not only for himself but for Obama.
After this his answers seemed "canned"

Ma Dem & Paw Republican.

Picture this:

Ma DEM and Paw Republican, are sitting at home one day
and Ma has to go on a trip for a while(1995). Paw's got
the "house" all to himself.

Well he finds he cant handle the "house" all by himself
and invites his friends to come and help him.
They wash the dishes, they mow the lawn, they cook the food,
they make the beds,they wash the car and take care of the kids.
Now after a while Ma DEM gets back from her trip(2007)and she
finds a house full of "friends".
Paw Republican realizes the house is preety full and says
to Ma, "what are we gonna do Ma??"
Ma says "well their your friends arent they"
Paw looks around and says "heck no Ma, I never invited
this many of them, they're just freeloaders!!"
Ma Dem looks around and with a sigh says to Paw " well
I guess they cant stay here we'll have to help em get
a place of there own down the street."
Paw Republican with a look of utter horror says
"Thats your great Idea? You want to HELP these freeloaders
AND have them live down the street??"
"Ma thats a terrible Idea and I want to know what your
gonna do about this? Its your fault you know,you've been
gone fer a good spell."
Ma Dem, being all tukered out from the trip, sits
down turns to Paw and says "with all our good fortune
Paw cant we help em out?" Paw, his anger

Liberal Agenda?

For a very long time I have been hearing about a "Liberal Agenda".
I think it is worth examining, as it rolls off the rightwingers
tongues with a loathing and easy contempt.

What is it ??
If, by "liberal agenda" they mean....

Keeping Social Security viable for those most in need in our
society and those who have already worked a lifetime
contributing to a system geared to regular folks.
Something the "right" wants to "privatize",in other
words eliminate.To insure Government regulation of
"for profit" companies so we don't have rampant corporate
theft and massive exploitation of hard working Americans.
To insure Government regulation of the food industry.
So people wont have to test their own ground beef for
mad cow or Ecoli. To insure Government regulation of
imported goods.So YOU don't have to test for dangerous
lead content. Government regulation is government doing
its job!To ensure that those who have the ability to go
on to higher education do so. To insure Universal health care
for all Citizens.If we can afford a war we can afford health
care for all Americans.When our government tells us that
"Universal Health care for Iraqi's is sound policy, but for
Americans its SOCIALISM, its time for a new government.
If every individual is "entitled" an attorney, whether
or not he/she can afford one, than I believe by virtue of
citizentry alone, EVERY American is "ENTITLED" to
Universal health care.Insurance companies "compassion" for
my illness should not end where their PROFIT/LOSS margins begin.
If my health determines your profit and my illness decides
your loses,than you would want me either... healthy or dead.
That's NOT a very good system for health care.To insure our
nation never invades, attacks or aggrieves any
Sovereign nation(s) that commit no provocation or threat.
Such as Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Iraq.To insure
"equal protection under the law"For all people.
Not just some people but all people.Not just some rights
but all rights.If you fall into the category of Human Being,
you are "entitled" to the same rights as all other
people.Straight people, gay people, black people,
religious people,non-religious people, ALL... people.
Please let us all remember these words;
"Those who will not stand up for the rights of others put
their own rights in danger of being lost as well.
To insure that there is freedom of religion.
To insure that YOUR freedom of religion ends where MINE begin,
religious or otherwise.To insure that everyone pays
their fair share of taxes.

Anyone who would insinuate that taxing someone $3 million
on an income of $10 million a year, is being "punished"
for their hard work is among the worlds biggest lunatics.
#1 anyone who "makes" $10 million a year is NOT digging
ditches or working hard. (He may have done so to get there
but lets be clear, once he gets there he is NOT working hard.)
Hard work is many things, it is also hard work to be really
poor with no job. Ask a welfare recipient if its not hard
work trying to make ends meet? Try to figure out how to
pay $1660 worth of expenses on $1100 a month. Gas or electric?
Telephone or cable?Clothes or rent? Food or medicine?
Can't imagine? No, neither can I !
#2 It is NOT punishment to pay your fair share!!
"To those whom much is given, much is expected"
To insure the basic necessities of existence for every citizen.
Food, shelter, health care, disaster relief.
To do any less is not humane, to do more is Private charity.
To rely on private charity alone leads to the following;
Private charity leads to public homelessness.
Private charity breeds demoralization and contempt.
OUR RIGHT TO, OUR ENTITLEMENT TO, THESES THINGS:
"Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"
These are things that are not for sale and have been paid for
IN FULL by the Americans that came before us.
For ....all Americans.
Anyone having a problem with these precepts must have
a problem with the Constitution and the notion
"United We Stand".
And finally, To forever insure the proper correlation between
our law and our justice.

Our Future, will of course, end up being our children's history.
How will you, YOU, write that book?

How can ANYONE exhibiting these characteristics do the following...

#1Attempt to eliminate Social Security.

#2Succeed in elimination of Student aid and Student loans for education.

#3Succeed in "gutting" Americas social services (Unemployment, SSI, Disability,Food stamps)

#4Attempt to turn public roads, highways and bridges into private toll roads.

#5Claim to spread "freedom and democracy" everywhere EXCEPT the USA.

#6Enact "business friendly" laws which actually mean "exploit" hard working Americans.

#7Claim that Universal health care for Iraqis and Israelis is "sound policy" but Universal health care for Americans is... SOCIALISM.

#8Claim that Republican debt is somehow better for the country than Democratic surplus.

#9Cut funding and benefits of Veterans.

#10.... " Write your own #10 here"

So the question remains .."Why do Republicans, who claim to love America, clearly hate Americans?"

Republican failures......
Their actions and even their Ideas on the following short list.............
Katrina,
9-11,
private toll roads,
Iraq,
stem cell research,
civil rights,
equal rights,
deregulation,
rob from poor give to rich (taxes)
social security (Privatization is elimination)
school vouchers (or wealth redistribution, republican style)
health care (for profit)
You name it they have failed at it.

Not to mention the following economic disasters....................

The market crash in 1929 was under A Republican.
And the crash in the late 80's also under a Republican.
S&L (savings & loan) went bust under a Republican. (largest cost to the U.S. taxpayers until.........) Enron/world com collapse, again under republicans. JEZZ!

And lets not forget the current economic disaster.........
Dollar at all time LOW
Bankruptcy at all time HIGH
Foreclosure at an all time HIGH
Housing market collapse
Communist China flush with dollars
Capitalist USA Broke, worse 9 TRILLION in debt

You can stick you $300- 600$ tax cut where the sun dont shine!
Americans would rather have a decent job where we can afford our taxes, instead of a republican minimum wage job with a lousy tax cut.

The republican school voucher system is a scam and only an indirect tax cut for the rich !!

HERES how it works.............
The rich guys kid is already in private school ..he gets a VOUCHER.

The regular guy CANT afford to pay $10,000 for private school for each of his kids, he CANT write a check !!!
And so will not be able to use the "Voucher".

So at the end of the year, the rich guy gets to use his "VOUCHER" and he gets all the money he spent on private school reimbursed to him.

BUT where is it "reimbursed" from The public school.

SO the regular guys kid is STUCK at the public school BUT now its even worse cuz they have even LESS money for the regular kids.

Social Security, Privatization is Elimination

Any Republican that tells you privatization is a GREAT thing, is LYING to you.
They will tell you........

#1 If you privatize " you get to invest your own money

Translation --- YOU dont get to see the money anyway it just get changed hands, from the government, to private wall street investors, who will INVEST it for you.
Who's to say they dont invest it into something like ENRON, than you get even less for retirement, AND...... minus the FEES, the private sector wont invest for you for free !!

#2 PRIVATIZATION means ELIMINATION.

If it REALLY is privatized than it should go to the person. AND if that happens than that means the elimination of social security.

#3 Remember, to republicans you are NOT a person you are either potential PROFIT or you are nothing.
And a government program which is designed to help people, has NO PROFIT in it.

No, social security wont make you a millionaire, but to millions of americans who arent lucky enough to be millionaires its their chance for just a little dignity.Senator Clinton understands that.

Things you have to believe to be a Republican today:

#1 Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

#2 Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

#3 The Constitution is NOT a living document.--- Bill of rights? Amendments? What DAT?(repub voters skip #3, you dont have the education to understand what is meant) (I can see the head scratching already)

#4 The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing UN resolutions against Iraq.

#5 A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

Best Choice for America

I have never been so convinced in my life as I have been now that the best choice for America is Senator Hillary Clinton.For myself, the issue is much less Senator Clinton's gender than her experience, integrity, determination, and intelligence.

Senator Clinton's experience is evident and I will not re-post the Senators resume here.

Senator Clinton's integrity has been attacked consistently over the years and the Senator has taken the high road equally as consistent, which to me demonstrates a cool head and a great conviction of her own actions and beliefs.

Senator Clinton's determination in the face of trials and tribulations she has faced has only proven her strength of Character and unyielding perseverance against adversity.

Senator Clinton's Intelligence is also self-evident, a successful attorney, a brilliant first Lady, an advocate for the American people, a wife, a mother, a best selling author, and a faithful public servant as Senator.

When it comes to some of those "trials and tribulations" consider this; First lady Hillary Clinton had the foresight to begin acting on health care some 15 years ago. Had Congress listened to her then, would health care be an issue today, in this election?

As for family values, I can see no one with greater family values than Senator Clinton. The adversity and pain she went through we are all aware of, yet she was able to save her family, not destroy it.

As a Christian she is aware that her religion is based on sacrifice. As we all know, family, sometimes requires our sacrifices. So as a Christian she has walked the walk.

Lastly, as to Senator Clinton's gender, while this is precedent setting, I believe this makes the Senator, the " insider who is an outsider ".

Now that's the making of a great Presidency and a great America.

God Bless Senator Clinton, God Bless America.
And on to the white house !!!!!
