Yes, truly you are.

The Ghost of You

2011-06-22T02:47:00.000-07:00

Going back to Sg. Buloh Hospital was hard.

Walking through the same doors and walkways, into the ward (they all look the same, anyway) was a shock to my memory. I could see everything clearly; could see that last and only time I stayed overnight with her at the hospital.

I lost a lady I loved very much; a lady I kept close to my heart like she was my very own grandmother.

It was hard putting on a brave face for the lovely company I was with; they themselves were putting on their own brave faces. Maybe they saw bits of something; yet they didn't ask, and I'm grateful for that. It would have broken me down.

What regrets did I have? I regretted not spending more time with her. I regretted letting my then personal life get in the way of our relationship. I regretted not telling her how much she meant to me.

But I smile at my memories of her, of her sharing her joy for Indonesian dramas and cooking spicy food (In these cases, Aris's grandmother reminds me very much of her XD ). And for her patience with her daughters and sons, her granddaughters and grandsons. And her joy for life.

Who would have thought that one incident would lead to such a loss?

She was well-loved by everyone who knew her. You would, too, if you did.

IBM Malaysia's 50th Birthday!

2011-06-21T12:45:00.000-07:00

IBM Malaysia is 50 years old today! XD

We had a dedication thingy, and I'm proud to say my dedication was one of the chosen ones!

(Or maybe it was coz not many people submitted dedications?)

Doesn't really matter.

Saya bangga.

(Video) We Love IBM Malaysia !

2011-06-18T17:31:00.000-07:00

This is the video my team made for IBM Malaysia's "We Love IBM Malaysia" video competition.

I did the editing. Not my best, but not my worse (I think) haha..

But it did win us 2nd prize XD

There's also the extended version, with some extra scenes we wanted to include, but it would have been over the 3-minute rule the competition had. Plus the making-of, with some funny shots. But that's for our team's viewing only.

=)

Welcome to Malaysia (??)

2011-06-18T06:50:00.000-07:00

This is just too overwhelming, I had to share it.

The Home Affairs guy is an idiot. That's why people do research, not just sit on that plush chair and say, "Oh as far we are concerned, no one has made a report." Not only you show yourself as being an ignorant twit and a lazy bum, but you're embarrassing the whole nation! Just because no one reports it, it doesn't mean it's not a problem. Can't you open your eyes and mind? Mentally blind moron.

I can't say anything else. What I'm feeling after watching this video is very rude and impolite.

I'm sorry.

=/

Happy Birthday, IBM!

2011-06-16T03:27:00.000-07:00

Hear ye, hear ye: IBM is 100 years old on June 15th! Saw Jojo Struys tweet that she was the emcee for tonight's dinner. I want go! Haha!

What an honour to join IBM in its 100th year, and many may not know this, but this year is also IBM Malaysia's 50th birthday on June 21st! That's 4 days before my birthday! XD

I confess that when I first joined IBM, I didn't know much about what the company was all about; but what I know now: IBM accepts the differences among it's IBMers. Here at IBM, I'm proud to say that we are all proud to be IBMers =)

So have a wonderful 100th Birthday, IBM; and Happy 50th Birthday to you, IBM Malaysia.

What a Silly Tweet

2011-06-14T09:27:00.000-07:00

Someone actually used one of my tweets on his show!

I've never heard of 'The Pulse Network' or its 'Big Mac's Twitter Trends' segment; so I was surprised he tweeted me.

I'm guessing they got my tweet coz I included a TT hashtag.

Gosh, the tweet did sound silly. XD

Click here if you want to watch (just for fun) . It appears at 5:26 .

I still think this is hilarious.

The Soup Kitchen

2011-06-13T11:26:00.000-07:00

Last night, after the Pesta Chow Kit Kita 2, Aris and I decided to join The Soup Kitchen with Dewi, Huzair and Imran. Even though we were already exhausted after the whole day being super energetic for PCKK, bak kata Aris: "Alang-alang dah keluar rumah, keluar je terus."

Before this, I actually thought that The Soup Kitchen was a restaurant +_+ what a noob.

What I've seen about The Soup Kitchen is that it's a project for the homeless community under PERTIWI; whereby a group of people give food to the homeless people in the main KL areas. The one I joined last night was together with the Young Muslims Project, and they focused on the Chow Kit and Kota Raya areas.

Honestly, joining this project was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life.

First stop was Chow Kit (behind Tune Hotel); I was roped into the role of being the volunteer who opens the paper bag filled with food (last night's was nasi lemak and a banana), and passing each to another volunteer who then gives them to each of the homeless person so that they can proceed to the volunteers who give out the kuih and buns.

I was astonished to see the amount of homeless people queuing up for food. It was an eye-opening experience. I'm not ashamed to say that the whole time while passing the food, I was trying my best not to burst into tears. One of the touching parts for me was when a family of three came up to the van. The father was carrying his young boy, while the mother held the food; yet they were still cheerful and full of smiles.

These moments made me think: Why are we not grateful for the many things we have in life? When hardship befalls us, why are we not strong enough to face them? Why can't we say a simple Thank You when someone shows us an act of kindness? Why do we simply judge those whom we don't understand?

These people, in the worse conditions of not having a roof over their heads, not having healthy food to eat, not having proper medical care, not having access to clean water and electricity, not having family and friends to care for them; yet they still have to will to go on living.

Who are we to judge if they resort to charity to go on with their lives? Who are we to judge what kind of choices they make to go on living?

When people say charity, most think donations, money, food, clothes, etc. In truth, to make time is the best charity you can offer.

I really encourage everyone to be a part of a project like The Soup Kitchen. The experience you get when helping someone who has less than you in life is truly humbling.

My reminder to myself and you: Be grateful for the little things in life. We are so lucky to have what we have now. This might sound cliche, but it has so much truth in it: Always remember that there are so many other people who are less fortunate than us.

I wish you the best in life.

World Book Day

2011-04-22T08:42:00.000-07:00

What is the World Book Day? Who invented the World Book Day?

Courtesy of World Book Day:

"World Book Day was designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and is marked in over 100 countries around the globe. The origins of the day we now celebrate in the UK and Ireland come from Catalonia, where roses and books were given as gifts to loved ones on St. George’s Day – a tradition started over 90 years ago. For international information about World Book Day, please click here.

World Book Day 2011 in the UK and Ireland will take place on Thursday 3rd March. Please note that this date applies to the UK and Ireland only. The initiative is so well established in schools here that we want to make sure that the Day happens in term time to really make the most of this opportunity to celebrate books and reading. Most other countries hold World Book Day on 23rd April every year.

World Book Day is a partnership of publishers, booksellers and interested parties who work together to promote books and reading for the personal enrichment and enjoyment of all.

A main aim of World Book Day in the UK and Ireland is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own. To support this aim, a Schools’ Pack full of ideas and activities, display material and more information about how to get involved in World Book Day will be mailed to schools (including those secondary schools that have specially registered to participate) from mid-January 2011. Most of the traditional pack material will migrate online in 2011 – please register to access the new World Book Day Portal, which will be ready for use in January 2011. Registered pre-schools will also receive material around the same time. In the Events section you can see the range of activities and events organised by thousands of people around the country, many of which you can attend. Over the years our activity has been extended to cover both avid and emergent adult readers. Quick Reads are great stories from great writers and are great entertainment.

Thanks to the generosity of National Book Tokens Ltd and numerous participating booksellers, school children are entitled to receive a World Book Day £1 Book Token (or equivalent €1.50 Book Token in Ireland). The Book Token can be exchanged for one of the six specially published World Book Day £1 Books (where stocked and while stocks last), or is redeemable against any book or audiobook of their choice at a participating bookshop or book club (terms and conditions apply)."

I love the idea of World Book Day. Books have always been a part of my life, thanks to my family who have always encouraged reading. Reading has helped me a lot, in terms of writing and speaking, grammar, vocabulary.. you name it.

The Internet still cannot take away that feeling of holding a book in your hands.

On a further note, why not try this out?

Good luck!

(Video) "Up2 You + Me" Featuring Jim Parsons

2011-04-21T12:39:00.000-07:00

This is a video featuring Jim Parsons as part of the "Stand Up 2 Cancer" campaign.

The video shows Jim Parsons dressing up as 30+ different characters, and Zach Selwyn talks (or sing, in this case) about how it's not only up to celebrities to stand up to cancer, it's all up to us: every person who is different in a every aspect.

Enjoy!

The 2011 TIME 100

2011-04-21T06:41:00.000-07:00

Just viewed the full list of TIME's 100 Most Influential People.

Of course, I see familiar names like Amy Poehler, Mark Zuckerberg, Julian Assange, Colin Firth, Lionel Messi, Oprah Winfrey (d'uh), Aung San Suu Kyi, Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, etc.

Not surprising that Justin Bieber is on the list T_T (he has influenced fever to become 'Bieber Fever').

I love the fact that Chris Colfer is on the list too! Yes, his character as Kurt has been an inspiration for people and say that it is okay to be gay, and that people should accept the gay society as part of us. It's not a crime, and definitely Colfer's stand against bullying, especially bullying against gay teenagers, is admirable and an eye-opener.

My friend Fatin Shaza said, "ehhh... Blake Lively? Seriously?" Hahaha I'm guessing there must be a reason why Blake Lively's on the list, too. All I've heard is that she's very influential when it comes to fashion, and quoted to be "the next Sarah Jessica Parker".

Oh well, what say you?

=)

My First Unit Meeting

2011-04-20T08:07:00.000-07:00

And so, I had my first unit meeting just now at 8:00 p. m.

We had a special guest, Mdm Archalee (who is my boss punya boss), who came by to get to know all of us. Apparently, they are saying I'm lucky because first unit meeting dah ada orang besar datang. (Right...)

Well, meeting starts out like all meetings do: introductions first, reports, presentations, etc. Even had a presentation on Top 10 Malaysian Food (which made us all hungry).

I had the opportunity to ask Archalee (who has 28 years of experience as an IBMer) what she really felt being an IBMer. Personally, I really took to heart what she said about IBM giving its employees chances for career development, but only if YOU want to give yourself a chance to face the challenges to develop yourself for a better future.

Generally, a lot of people think too much about "What can the organization offer me?" instead of "What can I offer the organization?" This generation base things too much on monetary value, and is afraid of hard work. Why not expect more on career development instead of salary increment?

Honestly, been hearing a lot of statements about "Bila nak leave company nih??" and "Aku leave dulu sebelum ko." This makes me wonder, is it the company or the people?

When I find out the answer, I'll let you guys know.

P/s: Just had another photo session, since everyone was here today for the unit meeting. It's a nice feeling to be part of team.

This song/video really gives me a positive energy!

There are so many haters around you who always try to knock you down when you genuinely want to achieve something right in life. But you know what?

NEVER EVER LET PEOPLE STOP YOU FROM DOING THE RIGHT THING.

And like a line in the song, "All of the dirt you've been throwing my way, it ain't so hard to take!"

That's positive thinking, I say!

2011-04-19T10:50:00.000-07:00

Ever heard of Omegle?

I tell you, this is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever tried in my life.

Learned about it from someone's tweet (I can't remember who), so first thought was "What's that??"

So I googled it, and hey, what do ya know:

"Omegle is a great way of meeting new friends. When you use Omegle, we pick another user at random and let you have a one-on-one chat with each other. Chats are completely anonymous, although there is nothing to stop you from revealing personal details if you would like."

So then I thought, "Try ah jap.."

Intro was: You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!

Within 5 minutes, I had about 11 conversations with random strangers. With intros such as "SWAG", "Everything was going just the way I planned, the broccoli was done", "Bieber rockssssssss!" and "Wanna f***?", I decided that...

Yeah, this is utter rubbish.

Probably most of them were under 15 anyway. One even called me a PEDO. Hmmm~

Amazing what people come up with, right?

=)
