Time flashes like lightning, Daylon turns 20 months today and he is now 90cm tall and weighs 13.3kg. This growth figures will explain why the bus conductor urged me to get him a bus ticket in his next ride.

We have bid farewell to year of Tiger and gladly welcome the brand new Bunny year. I do hope this year will be as calm and gentle as the Bunnies.

We have had the most enjoyable and special reunion dinner with my family and in-laws. "The best of both world" is the best sentence to describe it.

The Lunar Chinese New Year is near

Our Lunar Chinese New Year is round the corner, I'm tied up with the spring cleaning, shopping for clothes and goodies. Not to mentioned about my online clothes business, babysitting and pet grooming. Thus nowadays, I don't frequent much on Facebook nor WordPress.

Spring cleaning can be quite tough for me now. Can you imagine that Lee is keeping his "previous stuff" which it looks more like junk to me. And Daylon is enjoying throwing toys around the house while I'm in the midst of clearing mess. Best of all, I got terrible runny nose for a couple of days due to those dust. Anyway, I'm recovering and will move on with another "mission almost impossible" area cleaning :)

Molar Teething Discovery

Have any Momma discovered that our kiddy's gum will bleed when the tooth cuts through? Initially I was in doubt when we had our first experience, then confirmed after happening on the other growing teeth as well.

I have a girlfriend who once told that ~ "You will know what's teething woe when their molar erupt!". I swear I understand what she have been through because EIGHT of Daylon's molar have made their presence between end of November to early January. I bet he is in extreme discomfort because his pain had given me pain too.

Apart from the bleeding, I got a latest discovery in teething progress. The molar pushes through its way up through the gum and causes the gum "flesh" out. During the molar first appearance there is this dangling raw flesh sitting on top of tooth surface. I managed to capture 2 close up shot on it ~

This raw flesh will disappear overnight, or sometimes it sit for a couple of days. I guess it disappear into toddler's tum tum :)

In an additional to teething woes, he is in the midst of stepping into the "terrible twos & threes". Geez!

Dear Daylon, I remember how we celebrated our first Christmas with you last year. You were only 6 months old, so cute and cheeky.

Today, we still have our cute and cheeky Daylon. Our baby has grown up to a bubbly toddler. But then, you are bubbling in your own language. I truly thank god for giving me Lee and your presence in every Christmas. As planned, we went to the park for a stroll. Capture some shots and enjoy home cooked meal for this Christmas.

Our Aspiration

We are just plain Jane and John who always wanted a decent family. Our common aspiration is to build a warm home and now we have our incredible kid to make our family complete.

Sometimes the desire of having a simply life may come with many difficult packages. These difficulties do not breed from greed nor lust, but unforeseen circumstances elsewhere. I can name the three E's as economy, environment and envisage for the future.

Life can't always be so smooth, else it will be meaningless and dull. It can be quite taxing for us sometimes. However with every storm we brave through, always make us stronger than it ever could be. During every transit, I always saw my ray of light ~ My family.

Daylon, my son...

He is just like an angel send down by god, to warm our hearts and ease turmoil thoughts. I'm always enjoy his every unknown language, cheeky expressions and hilarious tantrums. He has filled our home with laughter, colours and warmth.

Not to forget about Lee, my great man who never fails to lend me his broad chest, magical words and endless support. Thinking back, he has always been there for the past 13 years.

I always think that both of them have been so great to me and I wonder how they think about me? :P

Career update

Lee is no longer working in oil rig field quite some time ago. Likelihood, there will be a great change. For good or worst, I raised all my hands and feet to support. All because I need not stress about his previous dangerous and high risk job. I have already predict this day will come and we made it through again. Maybe Lee and I had been through more than this, and we still have this fighting spirit to counter all storms. Because we believe in our Family Footprints Pact.

Till now, I still can't forget that night, how he collapsed before my eyes when he accidentally squashed his thumb during the day. Lee endure all the pain and collapsed right before me. I was so paranoid when he landed flat on his face and started bleeding on his forehead. I shook him repeatedly and his body is lifeless. I couldn't even dial the emergency numbers right nor get any kin on the line. Then I managed to contact Lee's friend for help. That is the most shocking experience in my life!

And few months back, Lee confessed that half-year ago he fell off 3 meter high from the rig. Almost got himself killed but managed to escape death with his safety point. Sometimes man does tell big white lies to avoid their family to worry. I wasn't mad yet felt thankful to all the guardian angels that bless us with a complete home.

Ever since then, I secretly hope that he will give up this risky job. We needed him more than anything else. And this is also one of my reason why I always get mad with Lee when he said Daylon will join him in this line.

Well, it's all over :)

Lee got himself a good designation in my family business. His current salary may not be as great as a Rig builder. But we are richer with happiness. Thank you Lee, I know we are part of the reasons that you give up your previous job. Because you do not like to leave us alone. You have done so much for us and I am gratified.

In fact we have swapped our family business duties, I am currently active in his family business while he is active in mine. There might be some adjustment and more changes with my career path soon.

Our 2010 year is filled with numerous spontaneous events, including the good and bad! It's time to pen down our new year resolution.

We believe that twenty eleven is going to be a good year.

First of all, I would like to thank all the readers for the all mails and comments. Pardon me for not responding and am taking this chance to express my gratitude here. I'm very touch, because your every encouragement words count!

Today is Christmas Eve, and I'm wondering what's everybody doing right now? Daylon went to bed before 9pm and the house is so quiet. I'm taking a short break from work, wanted to post up my Zoo Trip which I promised in my previous note. Actually my eyes are tearing, due to long hours of working with my desktop. The tear is also part of my emotion, because I have missed many precious moments with son. Reading back my archive notes, I really thank god that how blessed I was previously. Anyway today suppose to be a jolly day, let's move on and excel.

Guilty as charge! I will not be keeping any notes for the time being. There's a great change in our life and daily routine so gradually I'm losing my moments with Daylon very much. I'm no longer a Full-Time SAHM, and this change is for a better tomorrow.

Yesterday, Lee flew back in morning and got ourselves wasted by slacking at home. Suddenly he dated me out today and got Daylon a babysitter for the night.

Finally I'm back and apparently that my blog is growing spider web. Daylon and I just came back from Abu Dhabi and I got truckload of pictures to upload. Blame the flu bug and chores for my absence. Alright fewer words, let's get back to my note. And this is going to be a long long note :)

16 November 2010 (Day 1)

The courage to fly alone with a toddler is way too much to digest within seconds and it took me more than a week to say yes. I booked the flight just past midnight and flew on the following noon. I know this sound crazy!

And YES!!! I made it to Abu Dhabi with my travelling buddy, Daylon.

Things turn out better than expected, Daylon didn't throw much fuss and dealing with the flight pressure very well. The SQ crews are friendly, helpful and kind. The 7 hours routines are eased with ~

Deng, Deng, Deng, Deng! We touch down with happily and took a cab down to meet Lee. Daylon is sleepy as it's almost 10pm in SIN while 6pm in ABU. But he is trying to keep his eyes open when I told him that we're seeing Daddy soon.

Daylon stared and pondered when he first saw Lee standing at the taxi door. Within a minute, he climbed over me, threw his arms around Lee, kisses and clapped his hands. This is the sweetest moment which I have ever seen in my life. Just like drama shows, so heart warming...

All of us knocked out before 9pm ABU. Daylon and I are suffering from Jet-lag while Lee said that he was so excited last night and couldn't sleep well.

17 November 2010 (Day 2)

Both Daylon and I woke up at 4am ABU while Lee gone to work at 5.30am. I heard soft chanting prayers from the hotel at 5am sharp and was told that there are 5 calls to prayer each day. Mosques around Abu Dhabi are adorned with loud speakers so we'll hear them everywhere. Sunrise at 6am, sunset at 6pm while moon can be clearly seen before 5pm.

We have yet to adjust to ABU time and went for a walk down the streets. Most Arab citizens wear traditional dresses.

Men wear (Dishdash) a full length white shirt dress, (Gutra) red checked head-dress which is crown with (Agal) a black cord.

Women wear (Abaya) a long, loose black robe and (Sheyla) a headscarf. The more traditional lot wear a thin black veil to cover their faces, leaving only their beautiful eyes exposed. Elder women will wear (Burkha) a leather dark mask instead.

In other words, I must dress properly to gain mutual respect. Arab Women are rarely seen on the streets, most ladies working in the malls are from Philippine. Then I understand that this is a conservative and holy place to live in.

Let me present our temporary cozy stay, Cristal Hotel Abu Dhabi and I miss their decaffeinated coffee so much.

18 November 2010 (Day 3)

Lee usually leave the room at 6am and return after 6pm hence Daylon and I got lots of free time during the day. I take this chance to sight see and grab some essential stuff from their supermarket.

19 November 2010 (Day 4)

20 November 2010 (Day 5)

Sometimes I told Lee that I feel like I'm living in stone-age during our hotel stay. Every morning I need to hand wash some laundry and send off a couple of precious clothing for laundry. The weather is so dry thus my knuckles bleed and tear badly. Then my daily morning chores became packing and writing to laundry :)

21 November 2010 (Day 6)

We are going to Dubai for a short tour and those men hired a private MPV with a personal tour guide cum driver. Total, there were Jeff, Bui, Lee, Daylon and myself in this pleasure trip.

22 November 2010 (Day 7)

Lee is not working today but we couldn't plan anything much as Daylon is still running a fever. So we spend the rest of the day bum-ing around in the hotel.

Daylon is still having slight fever so we went to Marina mall for meal. Both Lee and I think that all of us have not been sweating thus we feel so sick. I suggested to let Daylon play in their Play land.

I flew back with Daylon without Lee as he still got some work to be done. Returning home is so tiring as we took the midnight flight. Some other kids got so cranky thus both of us didn't have a good rest. I learnt my lesson, never fly with midnight flight and engage an hourly charged cleaner if possible. Because my house is so dusty when I return...

During this test of time between Lee and myself, I realized something ~

"Absence makes heart grow fonder."

We have been tagging along with my parents very much lately, meet up for almost every alternate day. Apparently my dad, Daylon's grandpa is standing in Lee's duty. He called/text me every morning, noon and evening, just to check if we are eating well and doing fine. I really appreciate his thoughts and calls, as it really warmth my heart. A couple of friends have dropped me a note, asking me to call them whenever I needed help. I love them too!

Actually, I'm doing pretty fine but just that ~ We are bored at times. As much as I wanted to bring Daylon out to town, but I'm always drop dead tired after that. It isn't easy to juggle a running toddler, stroller and diaper bag, and not everyone understand this stress. Guess what, I'm always on Chinese medical oilment or Salopas daily. Sometimes it gets so bad that I got to pop painkiller to ease the aches. But that doesn't mean that I will lock ourselves up within four walls. We still have other fun ~ Toddler Playground.

It was a bright sunny day, thus both of us came home tan! After the play, I usually read storybooks with him. When night falls, we play catching in the aircon room and Daylon found the racoon hat which Mariann bought in Korea. Wondering if still remember this picture that we took during our Korea tour ~

My Bento 012 ~ Teriyaki Chick

This will be my own Bento for once, because I mastered a new cooking skill ~ Teriyaki Chicken! It is pretty easy to make as I marinate the thigh meat with Kikoman Teriyak thick sauce, add in slice onions and just stew for 15 minutes. Daylon and I are home alone, so I just make him some porridge or steam food for his dinner. Teriyaki sauce is not recommended for toddlers actually, as they contain massive alcohol.

My momma was warning me that quail eggs are high in cholesterol when she saw few plates of them in my fridge. Apparently she's right, quail eggs cholesterol is slightly higher than hen eggs. Serving moderate amount is the best solution, and definitely not for daily intake. Seriously speaking, sometimes I'm very particular about food intake but most of the time I'm chewing on junk! Haha, what a joke :P

A couple of funny things from him today!

#No. 1 ~

Early this noon, I heard him repeatedly screamed "Mama, Nana, Nainai, Papa, Gongon, Dardee" outside my toilet door. I was having some "big business" deal in the toilet so guess that he is having separation anxiety thus feeling so lost and desperate. Wahahaha my bad, I enjoy his 5 minutes scream and this is the only time when he really speak proper words.

~ I was reading his peekaboo book to him, and he actually exclaimed "WOO!" when he flip to see the hidden picture. Whenever we turn to a page with yellow chick or hen, he will lift the book up and kiss! Bet he is a real fanatic of Big Bird.

We got a fun and tiring day, so Daylon turns in to bed at 9pm. I'm going to give Lee a call now.

Draw Draw Draw

Yesterday morning I was asking my sister if toddler can play with poster colour and yet today we tried crayons instead. I wanted Daylon to play and to make a welcome back card for Lee. So I went to the nearest book store and got him these ~

I used to have a many sets of crayon during childhood. I was a very good art student, always scoring top in the school. So let's see if Daylon inherit my gene ~

Nicely seated and started drawing with two hands.

Initially I was very reluctant to post up this note as afraid Lee might read them. But I doubt he got the chance to anyway...

I seated right behind him, holding his hands and said draw, draw, draw. And he repeated my speech and say draw, draw, draw for at many times. This kid of mine has spoken new word again, and I guess he said it unknowingly because he is focusing on his drawing. He started to address me as "mama, nana" after Lee's absence. In fact he call "mama, nana" the whole day when we are alone. Way to go boy, keep speaking more...

Seeing him in so much fun, I had a short clip on his first drawing. Sadly I didn't managed to video him parrot my speech as I wasn't in proper attire. I learnt my lesson, should dress up and stand by for such moment. LOL!

The post drawing syndrome is terrible as I got a hard time scrubbing the table top and cleaning up his hands and nails. But it is all worth while...

It's bright and sunny today, so we headed to the pool again. Earlier this morning I was contemplating if I should bring my camera along or join him in the pool. I wanted the best of both world so I got my dad and sister along to help :)

It has been four days since I last seen Lee, however we chatted on the phone every night. A part of me hated to spend so much money on phone calls and the other part of me missing him so dearly. So he ask me not mind about those hefty IDD rates and just wait for his call every night. Even if it is $10/min, he will still call to hear me and wanted to know how I'm coping. Oh dear, I melt on his promise! Once again he assure that he will not miss a single night, unless dead reception.

So today is not a good night, the reception is dead. Actually I was so eager to tell him that Daylon is having very terrible separation anxiety at night and I got to cuddle him in my arms for the whole night. At this moment I do not want to pin any hope on his call for today, and will look forward to hear from him tomorrow. I hope...

However we had a great day, and heading off to bed.

First of all, Happy Halloween to everyone out there. Did you have your freaky celebration? Hope you have your fun.

Alright, I was totally freaked out on this Halloween weekend. Not those scary costumes nor horror movies.

Today I have truckload of house chore to run, changing bedding is my priority. Why bed sheet? Because Daylon shook his milk bottle and the massive milk fluid stained almost 3/4 of my bedding. I keep him entertained with his usual cartoon show, and went into settle the laundry in my washer. Within 5-10 mins, I saw this ~

OMG! How did you get up there, Daylon?

I was wondering how he managed to climb on top of the table without proper support? The length between my sofa and table is about 1.5 feet wide, and I can walk in between them freely. I didn't get him down and actually waited for his next move. As predicted, he dare not climb down by himself and started crying for me. I let him cry for a couple of minutes and severely warn him not to do this again. Never!

This serves as a red alert, better keep things away from windows and have them locked!

Expressive Thoughts:

Lee has fly off to Dubai for work and clueless on when he'll be home. Some asked me how I cope while the rest asked if I can come out for some fun. My answer is, I believe I can cope but I can't attend parties as Daylon needed me so. Let's just say, everything has to be the same.

The very first day is the toughest, as I don't know what I should do during his absence. I dragged along snail time, and avoided thinking much. Apparently Daylon plays a big part, he always keep me busy and entertained. However he would start to stammer Dar-Dar when sky turns dark. Amiko is affected too, she stood and stare blankly at the door.

When night falls, I put Daylon back to bed and started playing my usual games. In the mean time, I'm so looking forward to hear from him. We are warned that the IDD charges are crazy, and the reception is terrible, so Lee said we shall stay connected through Facebook. This will be our first time PDA ~ Public Display Affections LOL! I should be happy that we are missing each other so much, and this will be a test of time. No matter how far he can be, he is always close to our hearts.

Seriously speaking, I think he suffer more than me... He said the food is terrible, stuck in his cabin and worry very much about us. I ache for him and wish the best for him.

Anyway Lee escape Daylon's season of teething session this time, lucky him! Wahahaha... Something unusual about Daylon, he had shower me with loads of affections after Lee parted. He finally called me Momma, kisses me with a loud MUACK, hug me and stroke my hair. I'm happy yet puzzle, wondering if it's separation anxiety.

Last but not least, I'm very glad to have great family and friends being around for us.

Special thanks to mom, dad, sis, Serene, Crystal, Gerald, Jeff, West and Kelly couple. Thank you for every motivational words, as that is what I appreciate most...

A couple of my closer friends asked me what I have been up to lately. Apparently Lee is still on long vacation and have been keeping ourselves pretty tied up during our days. We swam, roller blade, jogged and hang out in the playground to keep us entertained. Seriously, both Lee and I are not losing any weight as we have supper almost every night. The greatest regret is not having my camera during those healthy play, thus only a couple of homely shots.

October is breast cancer month and Pink Ribbon stands for hope and strength of each individual to fight its personal battle. Thus Pink Ribbon has never fail to circulate awareness, give support and also the deepest memory for who had once fought against cancer battle.

I have two aunts who suffered from breast cancer, unfortunately one of them lost in the battle. I still admire her fighting spirit and also with the warmest support from family and friends. Thus I would like share this awareness with everybody, to give our fullest support to those fighting against cancer battle. I will be participating Pink October event organised by Bento Blog, with many other blogging/twitter friends ~ Bentolicious, Hapa Bento, Mommy of twins, Susan Hawaii's Bento and Happy Little Bento. Their Bento is amazing, shouldn't be missed.

Fun Play @ Night

Bento 010 ~ Starry Fish

10.10.2010 - Wow what a lovely date and day. I heard it only happen once in a thousand years and best of all ~ Its my 010 Bento too!

Finally I made my first fish fillet with great success, the flour stick and the taste is nice. The grapes up there is actually Korea black current, taste exactly like Ribena gummy. I was so silly when I chewed the whole black current and the skin is so thick and gross. According to the Koreans, we are supposed to rip the skin and slide the inner fruit into mouth. Amazingly that the skin is easy to tear, and the inner part just slide into the mouth with a gentle squeeze. Very tasty fruit!

Daylon still fit in his baby bath tub, which is cool. The making of the photo ~ Momma is assigned to keep blowing bubbles, Daddy keep snapping, while Daylon enjoy as he wish. Out of a dozen of shots, I only choose one as the others show his little birdie.

We are quite fortunate to have three playground within 100 meters. The weather is great, so we are off to play.

I would said Daylon is observant, he never wink when he watch other children play. Then last few days ago, he just went up the stairs and slide down on his own. At this moment, I need to reinforce our talking habits ~ no foul mouth :)
