この夏、3年ぶりになりますが、インドネシアのサトウキビ工場を訪問しました。
この3年の間に、多くの製糖工場で蒸気機関車での運搬が廃止されてしまいましたが、少なくとも2箇所だけは残っているという話でしたので、その2箇所、PG. Purwodadiと、PG. Kanigoroを訪問してきました。両工場とも東ジャワ州のMadiunという町の近郊に位置しています。また、そのついでに、同じくMadiun市にあるPG. Pagotanにも足を伸ばしました。PG. Pagotanでは、ファイアレス化改造された蒸気機関車が使用されています。

In this summer, I visited sugar mills in Indonesia for the first time in threea years.
Recent years, it is said that most of the sugar mills in Java island in Indonesia stopped using steam locomotives to carry harvested sugarcane. However, it is also said that at least two mills are still using the steam locomotives. Thus, I visited those two mills, PG. Purwodadi and PG. Kanigoro. Both mills are located near to Madiun town in East Java province. Also I visited PG. Pagotan which uses fireless steam locomotives.

運行状況から説明すると、Purwodadiでは2両の蒸気機関車が使われています。サトウキビの収穫時期ですので、3月～9月頃までの期間で使われています。ただし、ディーゼルも併用されており、蒸気機関車は明らかに出力が足りていない感じでしたので、いつまで使われ続けるかはわかりません。危うい印象を受けました。

PG. Purwodadiですが、運行区間は短いのですが、一応SLによるプッシュプル「もどき」（後補機は直後を着いていくだけで、途中で一端停止した後で、本務機、というか、牽引機が切り離されて先行、後補機、というか後ろにいた機関車が工場まで押し込んでいく、という運用）を見ることができますし、それなりの頻度で運行されていますので、それなりに楽しむことができます。また、夜間も8時頃までは運搬していますので、インドネシアの蒸気の定番とも言える、火花を散らしながら走る姿も目にすることができます。

Firstly I explain the condition of the operation of the steam locomotives in these three mills.
At Purwodadi, two steam locomotives are used in the harvest season of sugarcane between March and September. However, they use diesel locomotives as well. Moreover, it seems steam locomotives don't have sufficient power anymore. I'm not sure they will use the steam locomotives so long.

The railway of PG. Purwodadi, the operating distance is short but we can see "push-pull like" operation. They use two locomotives to carry the cargo but the second one just follows the train and after the first locomotive is uncoupled it push the cargo to the factory. They frequently operate the train in the peak season of sugarcane harvest. They work until around 8 p.m. We can see the well-known sparkling steam locomotives here.

中部ベトナムの鉄道といえば、ダナン～フエ間のハイヴァン峠は外せません。国道一号線はハイヴァントンネルで峠を通過してしまいますが、鉄道の方はエッチラオッチラと峠を越えていきます。この季節はまだあまり天気が良くないのですが、下見がてらに峠まで出かけてきました。運良く、プッシュプルの貨物列車が通過するところに出くわすことができましたが、本番は夏の天気の良くなった頃に。

The most famous and popular points of the railway in the central Vietnam must be Hai Van pass. Nowadays, National road No.1 pass through the Hai Van pass by a long tunnel but the train climbing a mountain slowly. I visited the pass as location hunting though the weather condition is not fine in this season. Luckily I could see the pushu-pull cargo train. I will visit here in deep summer again.

中部ベトナムのフエ～ドンホイ～ビン間を頻繁に移動しているのですが、仕事が終わってからの移動になるので、夜間の移動が多くなります。今回は夜間の列車の発車の光景です。ドアの開閉は手作業ですので、車両には一人ずつ乗務員が乗車していて、発車時には各車両の乗務員が合図灯を掲げます。

Recently I'm moving from/to Hue - Dong Hoi - Vinh often. Since I have to move after working time, most of my trips are in night time. Each coach has a conductor and they open and close the door. When a train departures, each conductor hoists signal lamp.

はまなす・カシオペア　ラストラン The finale of "Hamanasu" and "Cassiopeia"

これまで、あまりカシオペアとはまなすの走行シーンを撮る機会に恵まれなかったのですが、いよいよ北海道のDD51が優等列車を牽引するのも最後、北海道どころか全国で、いわゆるブルートレインの残党もこれで完全に消滅、ということで、1月、2月と渡道して、はまなすとカシオペアを撮影してきました。北海道の夜行列車を撮影することが二度と出来ないと思うと、非常に寂しい思いがします。

I hadn't had so many chances to take pictures of "Hamanasu" and "Cassiopeia" running in Hokkaido. This is the true last of DD51 with express in Hokkaido, moreover true last of the survivor of Blue Train in Japan. I visited Hokkaido twice in January and February to keep records of their finale. I will miss them forever.

ここ数年、ベトナムに用事があってチョコチョコ出かけています。なかなか鉄道で移動する機会がなかったのですが、最近ようやく鉄道でHue - Vinh - Ha Noi間を移動することができるようになりました。今年の11月からはこれまで以上にベトナム出張が増えますので、鉄道で移動する機会も、鉄道を撮影する機会も増えると思います。

I have visited Vietnam often for these a few years. I hadn't had chance to use railway to move from a pilot site to another pilot site. Recently, I could use night train to move between Hue, Vinh and Ha Noi. I will work in Vietnam more often from Nov 2015. I will be able to use railways and take pictures of trains more.

こちらのサイトで紹介されている写真は、スーダンの鉄道の写真です。経済制裁を受けているせいか、ボロボロの木造客車ですが、一応ちゃんと動きます。大虐殺で知られるダルフール地方から、首都ハルツームへ向かいます。何日かかるのかはわかりません。この写真を撮ったときも、駅ではないところに何となく止まっていました。乗務員らしき人に、何時に出発するのか訪ねたところ、19時だ、と教えてくれたのですが、その時既に19時半でした。

The picture on this site was taken in Sudan. Sudan is still under economic sanction. The passenger cars of the train were wooden and tattered but they could still move. The train departed from Darfur known as the region of massacre to the capital city, Khartoum. I don't know how long it takes to Khartoum. When I took this picture, the train was in front of the hotel I stayed. Though it was not the station, the train stayed there. I asked a crew about the departure time and the crew answered "19:00". However, it was already 19:30.

ある程度覚悟はしていましたが、やはり来春ではまなすもカシオペアも廃止になるんですね。

非常に残念ですが、はまなすのボロボロの車両を見ると、まあこれも仕方ないのかな、という気にもなりました。廃止にするつもりで手を入れなかったのかもしれませんが。

この両列車が消えることで、JR北海道のDD51も引退するのは確実ですね。あと、まあこれは始めから既定路線ですが、ED79も北海道新幹線開業と同時に引退ですね。最後まで残ったD型電機もこれで完全に終了ですね。

Though it was anticipated, "Hamanasu" and "Cassiopeia" are going to be taken off next spring.
I'm so sorry but I could understand the reason why they are going to disappear when I saw the tattered body of the passenger cars of "Hamanasu". The railway company didn't repair them because they might have decided to stop operation of "Hamanasu" in the spring 2016 since long time ago.

Type DD51 diesel locomotives of JR Hokkaido must retire when these two express trains disappear. Type ED79 also retire when Hokkaido Shinkansen commence commercial operation in March 2016. It means the last "D" type electronic locomotive will wholly drop off.

この8月にモンゴルを訪問する機会に恵まれました。せっかくですので、ウランバートル近郊のオメガカーブで撮影してきました。

時間がなかったので、本格的な俯瞰撮影はできなかったのですが、できれば再訪して再挑戦したいところです。

I could visit Mongolia in this August. I went to the Khonkhor loop near Ulan bator to take pictures.

Since I didn't have enough time, I couldn't take long shots from the surrounding hills. If possible, I'd like to visit here again.

夜景の写真は夜11時近くに撮影したのですが、モンゴルではサマータイムを実施していて、日の入りが夜10時近く、この時間でもまだ西の空がうっすらと白んでいます。撮影している際に遊牧民が馬の群れと共にやってきて、（多分）「あんた、こんな時間にこんなところで何してるんだ？」というようなことを聞かれましたので、「ピクチャー、ピクチャー」と答えたら、「おおー」と言ってそのまま去って行きました。

The night scene was taken at around 11:00p.m. In Mongolia, they adopt the daylight-saving time and sunset is around 10:00p.m. At 11:00p.m., the western sky was still slightly bright. When I took the picture, a nomad with a herd of horses came to me and asked (probably) "What are you doing here this late at night?" and I replied "Picture, picture". He was surprised and said "Oh!" and left.

さよなら北斗星 Good-bye Hokutosei

臨時とはいえ、いわゆるブルートレインの寝台特急としては最後の生き残りとなった北斗星ですが、ついに8月22日で最後を迎えてしまいました。

今更じたばたしても始まりませんが、やはり寂しいですね。

2014年3月にあけぼの、2015年3月に北斗星、トワイライトエクスプレスときて、次は2016年3月にカシオペアとはまなすでしょうか。

これまでに都内で何度か北斗星を撮る機会がありましたので、追悼の意味で保存しておきます。撮影場所は全て東十条駅付近です。

Hokutosei, the last blue train in Japan has taken off on 22th Aug 2015 as an extra train.

Akebono, Hokutosei and Twilight Express were disappeared in 2014 and 2015. The next might be Cassiopeia and Hamanasu in 2016.

I took pictures of Hokutosei in 2014 and 2015 at Higashi Jujo station in Tokyo. I post them in memory of Hokutosei.

E-M1動体AFテスト E-M1 C-AF Test

動体に弱いと言われることが多いミラーレス一眼ですが、鉄道のような、規則的に動くものに対しては、既に歩留まりも結構良くなってきています。特に蒸気機関車のようにたいした速度で動いているわけではないものは、ミラーレス一眼のAFで十分と言っても良いと思います。

Olympus E-M1とM.ZD40-150mm F2.8の組み合わせのC-AFで連写した写真ですが、9シーン、271枚の連続写真をFlickrにアップロードしてみましたので、ご参考までにどうぞ。

It is said that C-AF of Mirror-less cameras is not accurate enough to shoot moving body. However, recently the accuracy of C-AF to track train especially steam trains which run not so fast.

I uploaded 271 pictures of 9 scenes taken by Olympus E-M1 and M.ZD 40-150mm F2.8 with C-AF function on flickr.

中国　遼寧省鉄嶺市調兵山市の蒸気機関車（４）　世界で最後に製造された蒸気機関車　The latest steam locomotive all over the world

調兵山市の鉄法煤業集団（铁法煤业集团）の専用線（鉄法線）では、上游型を中心とした機関車が牽引する通勤用の旅客列車が運行されてきましたが、本当に風前の灯火になっているようです。（もしかしたら既に廃止されているかも。）

鉄法はいつまでも残るのではないかと思っていましたので、あまり真剣に撮影していなかったので、そのうちじっくりと撮りたいと思っていたのですが、ちょっと遅かったかもしれません。

ところで、ここには、世界で最後に製造されたと思われる蒸気機関車が在籍しています。

At Tiefa Coal Railway at Diaobingshan city has been operating commuter train pulled by steam locomotives but the commuter trains are going to retire soon. (They might have retired.)

I thought the steam trains at Tiefa would not stop using steam locomotives soon, I have not taken the pictures seriously. I wanted to visit there and spend several days again in near future but it might be too late.

By the way, at Tiefa, they have the latest steam locomotive all over the world.

上游型(SY)は1960年から1999年まで製造が続けられたのですが、ここで紹介する1772番がそのラストナンバーになります。ここには、上游型の1770～1772号機が在籍しているのですが、1770号機が1995年製、1771号機と1772号機が1999年製で、おそらく1772号機が本線用としては世界で最後に製造された蒸気機関車ということになると思います。

というわけで、今回は世界で最後に製造された、ある意味では世界最新とも言える、SY1771号機、SY1772号機の写真を紹介します。

まずは、SY1772号機から。

Shangyou (SY) Type locomotives were produced from 1960 to 1999. The last number is 1772. SY1770 - SY1772 are at Tiefa. 1770 was made in 1995 and 1771and 1772 were made in 1999. Probably 1772 is the lastly produced steam locomotives for main line.

Here, I introduce the pictures of the last and latest steam steam locomotives, SY1771 and SY 1772.

先週に続き、4月29日、30日の両日に、磐越西線の新津～会津若松間で運行された、C61の20号機が牽引する「SLばんえつ物語号」の試運転に出かけてきました。本番も5月中の土日祝日はC61の牽引で運行されるようです。

今年の4月下旬は気温が高く、煙の量はイマイチでしたが、それでも上り勾配区間では黒煙をもうもうと吐きながら疾走する大迫力の姿を見せてくれました。

I visited Ban' Etsu West Line to see the trial run of "SL Ban' Etsu Monogatari Train" operated between Niitsu and Aizu-Wakamatsu with C61 20 on 29 -30 April. The commercial service train is being operated with C61 20 all weekend in May.

In this year, the temperature was high and volume of smoke was not so much. However, the locomotive runs impressively with much black smoke on uphill slope.

磐越西線の西側の非電化区間を訪問したのは7年ぶりでしたが、阿賀野川に沿って走るこの区間は山あり谷あり橋梁ありで、絵になる場所が多くて素晴らしいですね。都内からは新幹線で1万円程度で行けるというのもいい感じです。これ以上遠いと、あまり気軽に出かけられる感じでもなくなってしまいますからね。JR東日本もSLの定期運行路線として絶妙な場所を選んだものです。

それにしても、会津若松からの折り返しの日出谷駅近傍の当麻橋梁の人手は相変わらず物凄いですね。あまり大勢が集まりすぎると、色々地元の人にも迷惑でしょうから、人が多すぎるようでしたら、他の場所を選んだ方が良さそうです。

今回の写真の撮影場所は地図に示しましたが、地図上のポイントをクリックすると、写真も表示されるようにしました。
また、それぞれの撮影地の情報は、磐越西線（新津－会津若松）　Ban' Etsu West Line (Niitsu - Aizu Wakamatsu)のページにまとめました。

It was 7 years passed after my last visitation to the unelectrified west part of Ban' Etsu West Line but I re-realized that this line has many beautiful photogenic locations such as mountainous area, valleys and river bridges. The distance from Tokyo is not too far to visit. It takes around 10,000 yen by Shinkansen from Tokyo to Niigata. If it is farther, most of people in Tokyo cannot visit easily. JR East chose the finest line to operate steam train regularly.

By the way, the turnout at Touma bridge around Hideya station in the evening was huge. If too many people gather one place, local people do not feel comfortable. When we see too many people gathering around there, we should change the place to take pictures.

Points on the map below show the location of the pictures. When you click the each point of Ban' Etsu West Line (Niitsu - Aizu Wakamatsu) on the map, the picture of each point will pop up.

久々に磐越西線の電化区間に出かけましたが、前回がいつだったかと思い出してみたところ、2006年2月でした。大雪の中、D51を撮影したことはよく覚えていたのですが、どこで撮影したのか正確には思い出せませんでした。はっきり覚えているのは帰りに翁島の温泉に寄ったことと翁島の駅前の酒屋で会津の地酒を買っていったことくらいなのですが、写真と地図と当時のダイヤをにらめっこして記憶を搾り出したところ、たぶん翁島－更科信号場の、高森山の麓のカーブだろうと推定しました。違っていたらすいません。

I visited electrified section of Ban' Etsu West Line in February 2006, too. I took the picture of D51 in heavy snow but I don't remember the exact location. I just remember that I visited a hot spring at Okinashima on the way back home and I bought local Sake of Aizu at a liquor shop in front of Okinashima station. I checked the picture, map and the time table of SL Bandai Aizu ji train very carefully and estimated the location. It would be a curve under Takamori mountain between Okinashima station and Sarashina signal station. If it's wrong, I'm sorry.

4月18日、19日の両日で「SL福が満開ふくしま号」というD51+旧型客車の臨時列車が運転されていますが、14日～16日に行われた試運転を見に行ってきました。

あいにく、風が強くて雲も多いというSLの撮影には向かない天候でしたが、くっきりではないにせよ磐梯山も一応見えました。また、会津若松方面はまだ桜は開花していませんでしたが、郡山市では満開でした。

I visited Ban' Etsu West Line to see "SL Fukushima Full of Happiness Train" operated with D51 type steam locomotive and old fashioned passenger cars. The trial run was operated on 14 - 16 April and the commercial service train is operated on 18 and 19 April.

Unfortunately the weather condition was not so excellent. The wind was strong enough to blow the steam and smoke of SL and the sky was clouded.　However, I could take picture of the train with Bandai Mountain even though the mountain was not clearly seen. And cherry blossoms in Koriyama city was fully bloomed. In contrast, in the mountainous area and Aizu region, cherry blossoms were not bloomed yet.

余談になりますが、ちょっと気になったのが、郡山市内で、「道路の除染をしています」という立て看板を何度か目にしたことです。原発事故から既に4年が経ちましたが、郡山市の市街地でもいまだに除染が必要な場所というのは結構存在しているんですね。（気になったので郡山市のウェブサイトで確認したところ、確かに、道路の除染作業を行っているようです。また、郡山市の地理情報システム上の郡山市放射線量モニタリングマップを見ると、確かに空間線量が0.5μSv/h程度で、除染の対象となるところも散見されます。なお、除染の対象となるのは、0.23μSv/h以上の場所だそうです。）

「福が満開ふくしま号」という列車名とのギャップにちょっと驚かされました。大変ですね。

By the way, I noticed there are some sign boards to inform the local authority is currently decontaminating radioactive material on roads in Koriyama city. Four years have passed already after the nuclear accident of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. But there are still some places where decontamination is necessary. (I checked the official website of Koriyama city and exactly the local authority is decontaminating the roads. Also on the Radiation Levels Monitoring Map in Koriyama-city <Japanese> , we can see some places are still around 0.5μSv/h where the decontamination is needed. The criteria of the decontamination is above 0.23μSv/h.)

I was surprised the gap between the name of "Fukushima Full of Happiness" and the reality of condition of radio-active contamination in the central Fukushima prefecture. It's still a hard condition for those who live in Koriyama city.

2月から3月にかけてボリビアに行く用事があったので、ポトシ県のウユニ湖の近くにある、「列車の墓場」に行ってきました。

In February and March 2015, I had something to do in Bolivia and stayed one month there. I visited a strange place located near to Uyuni salt flats in Potosi province known as "Train Cemetery".

この「列車の墓場」は、ウユニ市から出るウユニ湖ツアーのコースに組み込まれていますので、ウユニ湖に行ったことのある人はほぼ全員ここも訪問しているのではないかと思いますが、ウユニ湖ツアーの前座という扱いですので、それほど長居できるわけではありません。私の時は滞在時間は15分程度でした。まあ、鉄道マニア以外の人にはそれで十分だろうと思います。

現場に行くまで具体的にどんな機関車があるのかよく知らなかったのですが、ガーラット式機関車の残骸もありました。ガーラット式の機関車というとアフリカあたりで多用されていたことが有名だと思いますが、南米でも使われていたのですね。

ところでガーラット式の機関車というと、最近オーストラリアでマニアが復活させたそうです。
Project 6029というプロジェクトのようですが、2015年の3月にFestival Of Steam 2015というイベントで運行されています。キャンベラのあたりで運行されたようですが、こちらも是非訪問したいところです。

This "Train Cemetery" is one of the destination of one-day tour to Uyuni salt flats. Most of the tourists who have visited Uyuni also have visited here. Since visitation to here is not the main destination of the tour, most of the tours spend not so long time here. In my case, we stayed here only 15 minutes. However, it will be enough for most of the ordinary tourists who are not train freaks.

I didn't have so much information about here before I visited. I found some wrecks of Garrat type locomotives. I heard that Garrat type locomotives were mainly used in Africa but they were used in South America, too.

Meanwhile, recently a Garrat type locomotive was revived in Australia. Project 6029 had "Festival Of Steam 2015" operated the locomotive around Canberra. I hope to visit it someday.

こちらがガーラット式機関車の残骸です。(The Garratt Locomotive とか、The International Steam Pagesによると、どうもBayer Peacock社製の7421か7425らしいです。最近オーストラリアで復活した6029に似ていますね。)

Though I'm sorry that this article is about the picture taken the last year, I had something to do in Iwate prefecture in November 2014 and took pictures of SL Galaxy at Kamaishi line en passant.

さすがに岩手で11月下旬ともなると、紅葉のシーズンはとっくに終わっているといった感じでした。かと言って積雪があるわけでもなく、やや中途半端な感じもなくはないですが、これが東北地方の太平洋側の冬という感じでしょうか。

I expected autumn leaves around Kamaishi line but the most of trees already defoliated. Nevertheless, there was no snow at all. It was bit vague scenery but this is the winter in Tohoku region (North East Japan) along the pacific ocean.

昨年秋は何度か復活蒸気の撮影に出かける機会があったのですが、それ以来バタバタしていて、なかなか落ち着いて写真を整理しする時間が取れませんでした。次の記事では釜石線のSL銀河の写真をアップします。

Though it's already getting warm, this article shows the pictures of Tadami line in the late autumn in 2014.

In the autumn in 2014, I went several places to take pictures of preserved steam trains in Japan but I didn't have spare time to organize the pictures. I will upload the pictures of SL Galaxy at Kamaishi line in Iwate prefecture in November 2014.

それはともかくとして、やはり只見線はSLの運行機会が希少ですので、試運転は平日だったにもかかわらず、結構な人出でした。

天候的にはまあまあといった感じでしたが、試運転3日のうち、後半の方が条件が良かったようです。残念ながら、私は初日だけしか撮影できませんでしたが。

Anyway, steam train is operated at Tadami line only few days in autumn every year. There were so many steam locomotive freaks even though the trial run was operated on weekdays.

The weather condition was not bad but it was said that the last two days of the total of three days trial run were better than the first day. Unfortunately I could be there only the first day.

2014年3月に、最後の東北夜行である寝台特急「あけぼの」が廃止されましたが、その後を追うように、2015年の3月で北斗星、トワイライトエクスプレスが廃止されます。

In March 2014, the last blue train in North East region in Japan, "Akebono" was taken off. In March 2015, the last blue trains in Japan, "Hokutosei" and "Twilight Express" are going to be taken off, too.

学生時代を札幌で過ごしたこともあり、北斗星・トワイライトエクスプレスはなじみ深い列車なのですが、特に北斗星は東京に帰省するのに時々使っており、また、大学受験の際にも往路で利用したので非常に思い入れのある列車でした。社会人になってからも、業務で北海道に行く際には無理矢理利用したりもしたのですが、なかなか都合が合わず、あまり利用することはできませんでした。

北斗星に関しては、往時は3往復も運行されており、実は大学受験で利用した際には、1号に乗る予定だったのが、切符を忘れて家に取りに戻ったために乗り遅れて、上野駅で3号の切符に取り替えてもらったということがありました。このときは本当にギリギリで間に合わず、上野駅の地上ホームで走り去る北斗星1号を呆然と見送ったのですが、すぐに気を取り直して、よし、新幹線で追いかけよう、と、大急ぎでみどりの窓口に向かったのでした。窓口では、「今出てった北斗星を追いかけたいんで、すぐに出るやまびこを宇都宮までください。」という調子で切符を買おうとしたところ、「次の北斗星じゃダメなの？」という予想外の提案をいただき、3号の切符に振り替えてもらえたのでした。もう20年も前の話になりますが、まだまだおおらかな時代でした。

北斗星の廃止で、いわゆる全車両客車寝台車の、いわゆる「ブルートレイン」は定期列車としては消滅することになります。あとは本州・北海道連絡の夜行列車としては「カシオペア」と「はまなす」が残りますが、「はまなす」の先が長くないことは誰の目にも明らかですし、「カシオペア」も現在のような形で東京～札幌の不定期列車という形で残るかどうかは不明です。

これも時代の流れで仕方がないことなのでしょうが、全く残念なことです。

12月に、北斗星、トワイライトエクスプレスの3月の廃止が確定してから、12月下旬、2月下旬と2回ほど渡道し、最後の積雪期の両列車の雄姿を写真に収めてきたのですが、残念だったのが、今年は暖冬で積雪が少なかったことと、時間の都合で今回のダイヤ改正で同じように引退する711系を目にすることが出来なかったことです。

北斗星、トワイライトエクスプレスが冬季に走ることはもうありませんが、カシオペアはまだ残りますので、引き続きDD51が牽引するのであれば、もしかすると来期もまた渡道するかもしれません。

Since I studied at Hokkaido University at Sapporo city, I used Hokutosei and Twilight Express sometimes. Especially when I come back to my parents house at Tokyo, I sometimes took Hokutosei. When I went to Sapporo first time for the entrance examination of the university, I also took Hokutosei. After I start working at Tokyo, when I have some work at Hokkaido, I tried to take Hokutosei,.however, I couldn't take Hokutosei so often.

In the golden age of Hokutosei, there were three services everyday (Hokutosei 1-6: 1, 3, 5 are from Tokyo to Sapporo, 2, 4, 6 are from Sapporo to Tokyo). When I went to Sapporo for the entrance examination of the university, I forgot to bring the ticket and went back home to take it. In the result, I missed the Hokutosei 1. At that time, I could see the Hokutosei 1 leaving Ueno station at the station. Immediately I decided to purchase the Hokutosei 1 by Shinkansen and went to the ticket office. At the counter, I aske the clerk to sell the ticket of Shinkansen (Yamabiko) which can arrive at Utsunomiya before the Hokutosei 1. Fortunately the clerk said "why don't you take the Hokutosei 3?" and he changed my ticket to Hokutosei 3. It was the story in 20 years ago.

Genuine blue trains operated regularly disappear after Hokutosei stops operation on 14 March 2015. The definition of genuine blue train is: all the passenger cars are colored blue; locomotives pull the passenger cars; all the passengers cars are sleepers. "Hamanasu (Aomori - Sapporo)" and "Cassiopeia (Ueno - Sapporo)" still continue operation after 14 March 2015. It is no wonder that Hamanasu will retire soon. Cassiopeia will change the route and frequency due to the new Hokkaido Shinkansen.

It is unavoidable but I feel very sorry.

In December 2014, the taking-off of Hokutosei and Twilight Express was announced, I went to Hokkaido twice in December and February to take the pics of both of the trains running in snow. Unfortunately, the snow in Hokkaido in this winter is not so much and I couldn't see Type 711, the first electric train in Hokkaido which also retire in March 2015 due to the lack of time.

Hokutosei and Twilight Express will never run in winter season but Cassiopeia still run next season. If Type DD51 diesel locomotives still pull the train, I might go to Hokkaido in 2016 again.

途中、レールバスが何かを牽引して通過したりしたのですが、Vikas Chander氏のSanDaoLing coal mining railwayによると、どうやら作業員用の飲料水を運んでいるそうです。

This might be the last article of the series of Sandaoling. This article is about the maintenance of steam locomotives at the yard in Sandaoling before the operation early in the morning.

夜明け前で真っ暗なのですが、これでも朝７時～８時頃です。やはり中国は広いですね。国内に時差を設けないというのはちょっと無理があるような気もしますが、どうなんでしょうね。

それはともかく、少なくなったとはいえ、三道嶺では、今でも数台の機関車が夜明け前に一堂に会して整備を受ける光景を目にすることが出来ます。

These pictures were taken at 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m., though it was very dark. We can realize how large China is. In China, they use only one standard time. I don't know why they don't set another time-zone in west China.

Anyway, we still can see the several steam locomotives maintained before daybreak together.

三道嶺煤礦専用鉄路（５）炭鉱労働者輸送用の旅客列車

三道嶺の続きです。今回は、朝晩に運転される、炭鉱労働者輸送用の旅客列車です。旅客列車と言っても、有蓋の貨車だったりします。

Sandaoling Coal Mine Railway (5) The commuter trains for the labors

This is the sequel of Sandaolin. Here I show the picture of the commuter trains for the labors working in coal mine operated only in morning and night. It is commuter trains but the vehicles are boxcars.

有蓋車で人間を運んでいると聞くと、思わず映画「スターリングラード(2001)」でソ連軍が兵隊を貨車でスターリングラードまで運んでいたり、ドイツのテレビドラマ「ジェネレーション・ウォー(2013)」でナチスドイツがユダヤ人を収容所に運んでいたりするシーンを思い出してしまったりするのですが、中国ではどう思われているのでしょうかね。

夜の列車は暗闇の中の運行になりますが、朝の返しは、この時期でもかろうじて日の出直後になりますので、撮影することが出来ます。東西に長い中国ですが、西方でも公式には北京時間を使っていますので、日の出が8:30過ぎでした。

When I see the boxcars carrying labors, I remind some scenes of some films such as "Enemy at the gate"(2001) that infantry of the Soviet military were carried to Stalingrad or "Generation War(Unsere Mutter, Unsere Vater) (2013)" that Jewish people were carried to the concentration camp. I have no idea how Chinese people feel about it.

The train to carry the labors from the coal mine is operated in dark night but the morning train carrying the labors to the coal mine is operated under dawn purple. We can take pictures of the morning train. Width of China from east to west is so wide but the standard time in China is only Beijing time officially. The sunrise in Sandaoling in the end of December is a little past 8:30.

後ほど別に紹介しますが、よく見ると機関車が火の粉を吹きながら走っていることがわかります。

三道嶺煤礦専用鉄路（４）　プッシュプルによる運炭

三道嶺の続きです。今回は、東側のプッシュプルによる運炭です。こちら側は近くに軍事基地があり、行動に制約があるのですが、ある程度の範囲で撮影は可能です。

This is the sequel of Sandaolin. This article shows the push-pull cargo train at the east side of the opencast. There is a military base around there and it is prohibited to get near to the base.

天気が良ければバックには天山山脈が見えるはずなのですが、今回は残念ながらすっきりと天山山脈を目にすることは出来ませんでした。

バック運転なのが残念ではありますが、雄大な原野をプッシュプルで行く建設型の姿は一見の価値があります。

余談ですが、今回はメインをOlympus E-M1、サブをE-PL2という組み合わせで、望遠と標準を適当に付け替えながら撮影していたのですが、画質はともかくとして（もちろんE-M1の方が高感度も強いですし、画質的にはこちらの方が上です。）、E-PL2の46万ドットの液晶ではマニュアルのピント合わせが苦しいですね。サブ機といえどもEVFは必須だと痛感した次第。あと、当たり前かもしれませんが、耐寒性も悪く、冷えると簡単にバッテリーが落ちます。バッテリーを暖めると復活するのですが。

実はE-5も手元にまだ残っているという贅沢な状況ではあるのですが、既にメインのレンズはマイクロフォーサーズに入れ替えてしまった関係でフォーサーズレンズを持ち出すのが億劫になっており、サブとしてE-5を使うのも気が引けます。大きくて重いですし。そのうち安くなったE-M5でも入手しようと思います。

When the weather is fine, Tienshan mountain range can be seen here, however, it couldn't appear during our stay.

Though the push-pull locomotives operate with tender-first, push-pull Jianshe type locomotives in grand wilderness are worth seeing.

As an aside, this time I used Olympus E-M1 and E-PL2. The quality of the image is not so different during daytime but the LCD of E-PL2 with 460 thousand dot is not sufficient to use for manual focusing. EVF is necessary for manual focusing. Furthermore, cold temperature resistance of E-PL2 is also not sufficient. When the camera is cold, the camera battery becomes low easily. After battery is warmed, it can work again.

In fact, I still keep Olympus E-5 but I replaced the main lenses with Micro Four-Thirds Lenses. E-5 and Four-Thirds lenses are too large and heavy to be brought with Micro Four-Thirds system. I should get E-M5 which the price is reasonable recently.

三道嶺の続きです。今回は、露天鉱西側の状況です。残念ながら、一部露天鉱が埋め戻しが進んでおり、西駅も既に使用されていないようです。露天鉱内のヤードには、取り外された線路らしきものが積まれています。

This is the sequel of Sandaolin. This article shows the current condition of the west side of the opencast. They are backfilling the opencast and the West station is not in use already, unfortunately. There are some rails removed from the opencast.

露天鉱西側の状況です。ダンプトラックによって埋め戻し作業が進められています。

露天鉱中央のヤードです。ここで貨車に石炭を積むのですが、取り外された線路らしきものが線路脇に積まれているのが見えます。枕木ごと取り外してレールを切断して運びやすくしているようです。
The yard at the center of the opencast. The coal is taken on the open wagon. There are some rails with ground beams which were removed. They remove the rails with ground beams and cut here to take out.
