Pretty Peonies!!

Peonies are a flower with a large bloom that are available (depending on your area) from late May to early July. They are a very popular for weddings and they hold up well if cared for properly. Peonies come in several varieties and colors. If you are planning a wedding or event not in peony season they can be quite expensive but if you contact a knowledgeable florist well in advance they may be able to store cut peonies for a few months so you will have them for your event. Peonies are perfect as a stand alone flower in bouquets but they also make a beautiful addition to a mix bouqet. If you have questions about using peonies in your wedding, contact your local florist.

This was the last wedding of 2010 for Floral Design. Elisabeth wanted a very natural bouquet with lots of texture. There is rosemary,wax flower, local red Huck,peach hypericum berries, fiddlehead fern (Monkey tails) and little white ranunculus all tied together with twine. It smelled amazing and She loved it!

Orange-a-licious

Orange is such a vibrant and fun color for a wedding. The floral options for orange are amazing! Lilies, roses, daisies, orchids, berries and foliage in various shades of oranges make for striking bouquets and centerpieces. Most people think of orange as a fall color but it can be a beautiful standing alone or as an accent color any time of the year. Try it with red or burgundy or go monochromatic with it. Totally Teal

I found this board when searching for ideas for a upcoming bridal show. I think Teal can be a very elegant color choice for weddings. A couple of floral colors come to mind that work really well with the teal tones. Peach/ soft orange colors are soft and compliment lighter teal tones. In bold brighter shades orange and teal make a statement. Purple is rich and regal and works with the currently popular peacock color combo. Burgundy and teal make a surprising but beautiful color combination.
In this case teal stands alone and sparkles. This board makes me think of a beautiful winter wedding, although I also see teal working well for a beach wedding theme.

Honeysuckle: The hot color for 2011

Pantone just released its hot color list for 2011 and the top color they chose is called Honeysuckle, a vibrant pink with orange undertones. This is what I found when checking out what people had to say about this choice of color:

"Last year's Pantone color of the year was turquoise because of its calming effect (much-needed after a tumultuous 2009). This year, they're forecasting a way more vibrant color: Honeysuckle! Soft greens and yellows with chocolate accents, such a yummy combination. There are endless possibilities with flowers in this color scheme.

Mini chocolate bars with the bride and grooms name and wedding date on it is a nice personal touch. There are many sites where you can have this done. Locally there are two chocolate companies that we highly recommend and they both personalize. If you are interested we have samples in the shop.

I thought I would mix it up and do a board focused on a couple new wedding dresses for 2011. I really like the styles I have seen so far.
I also had to include the photos of the birdcage veil, I am in love with these! It is a classic veil style made trendy in resent years. This style of veil is timeless and alluring making this a popular choice for brides. The birdcage veil was worn by vintage Hollywood actresses and brides in the 1940s.
Could this be an option for your wedding day?

Country Charm

I love all the country weddings I have been seeing lately. I put together this board with some pictures I found from a country photo shoot that inspired me. I was thinking for a rehearsal dinner or shower this type of setup would be fantastic.  Using antiques and treasures that could be found in grandmas attic or the local thrift store add a sweet, fresh feel to the event as well as being budget friendly.

I found this beautiful inspiration board online while surfing awhile back and just love it. I wanted to share it because I think the color combination would work very well with any season. Chocolate brown gives any color combination a rich feel. Using different pinks together adds depth and interest to the florals.

Yellow and Blue.. not your everyday wedding colors but a bold,bright and beautiful combination! Christina loved this color combination but wasn't sure how it would all come together. So, we combined bright yellow Oriental lilies, yellow alstroemeria, blue delphinium and blue tipped carnations (yes, I said "sprayed" flowers!) if done right flowers that have been painted can be beautiful and since blue colored flowers are limited as was the budget this was a great option.
Christina really wanted a large, trailing bouquet and that is just what she got.

I love wedding story boards. It has become my new favorite way to display my work. Each bride and groom has a different personality and style. My job is to bring that out in the floral arrangements. This bride brought in a specific bouquet she found online that she loved, we took those ideas and made a bouquet that was all her own full of white stargazer lilies and white dendrobium orchids. It was a pleasure to work with Renee.

My experience with Floral Design was amazing! Angela was so dedicated to my wedding and personalized so many details of my wedding. She worked so hard at designing exactly what I wanted and I was so incredibly happy with my wedding. The flowers made my wedding so beautiful and I could not have asked for a better florists. She delivered all of my flowers to me and the church seperatly while I was getting ready. She was on time and prompt and even let me come in the day before the wedding to look at all the arrangements. Thank you Angela!

My fiance and I had attended a bridal fair in Post Falls, where we met Angela Austin. At that time we were getting pretty stressed because we were getting down to the wire and we still had no ideas for floral arrangements. I came across Angela's table and immediately loved her work! We set up an appointment that day and I walked into her shop a few days later. She made me feel extremely confident in choosing her as my florist as we glanced through different books together. Then, I found it! I knew exactly what I wanted! And Angela made it all possible and in my price range! It was a dream come true! Not only did she make my gorgeous bouquet and beautiful boutonnieres, corsages, and bridesmaids' bouquets, but she also made all of the amazing centerpieces and even helped make one of the silk floral arrangements that my fiance and I had put together, five times better! I thought my wedding was absolutely stunning as it was, but with Angela's artistic touch, she made everything explode with color! Thank you Angela!!

The wedding inspiration boards found on Snippet and Ink are wonderful!

I love fall in northern Idaho, it makes a beautiful backdrop for a wedding. This particular board reflects that warm, inviting feeling of fall.

The idea of homemade jams in cute little jars as guest gifts is simple, yet thoughtful and the variety of pies and tarts on the dessert table gives a warm and welcoming feeling for guests. The floral arrangements reflect the warm pallet and add to the country charm.
