About 2 months ago, I attended a highly interactive 3-days International Business Convention in Singapore that completely changed my life.

If you don’t know me personally or you haven’t been in touch with me for a while, I ought to tell you a little bit about my background.

I am 22 years old, completed my final theory examinations for my Medical Studies, earned an Advanced Diploma in Medical Science and am officially a Student Doctor. A day before leaving for my practical studies in Hospital Tuanku Jaafar for the next 2.5 years to earn my Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery Degree, I decided there and then to defer my studies and took that plunge into entrepreneurship. :) It felt right, it was now or never. And as they say, the rest is history.

That’s me, once upon a time ago in medical school.

In a nutshell, I am now the Business Development Director of a Green Energy Business with my dad. About 3 weeks into the business, I met Matthias Gelber (The Greenest Man on the Planet) in a coffee talk, he briefly mentioned Rock Your Business that was to be held in Singapore in a couple of days, and I asked him more about it.. I don’t usually go for business events, but this one just felt right and I told him to mark my words that I will be there. The next thing I knew, I was on the plane to Singapore. :)

I don’t know about you, but I measure the quality of any programs by it’s track record. Damn U, IMU

Times like this, I feel like wringling someone’s neck (IT Dept head’s neck to be precise). Not only our exam’s coming up next week, now our I-drive is not accessible!

I-drive’s this place we go online to get our lecture notes. And in IMU, lecture notes are very very important. Other medical schools, please don’t add to our stress by telling us to read from books instead.

1) IMU’s curriculum is very very focused. Meaning, you read beyond the scope you are just wasting your time.

2) IMU lecture notes have shitloads of things to memorise. Because we have been given notes, we cannot say we don’t know. It is very unlike universities that follow objectives and read from books, so exam questions are very different over here. You need to know every single detail in the lecture notes. Call it spoonfeeding if you want, but our exams are way tougher. Don’t believe? Not my problem. You better don’t start a debate with us.

3) IMU IT Department’s doing some sorta maintenance on the I-drive. WITHOUT prior notice. I always went into cardiac arrest when I couldn’t access it on Friday evening.

4) Maintenance period supposed to be until yesterday, Sat 7pm. It’s been 7 hours, and no sign of it back online yet.

5) The SRC has informed us to inform them whether there’s any problems with the I-drive (after the migration of servers) next week. NEXT WEEK. WE DO NOT HAVE NEXT WEEK IF YOU START TROUBLESHOOTING ON MONDAY. BLOODY >:(

6) We cannot seem to contact the IT department directly.

7) We are freaking stressed. Actually I was alright before this shit happened, NOW I AM FREAKING STRESSED.

8) We can get the notes from our friends. Of course we thought about it. But everybody’s stressing out for the exam, and it is not very convenient to get it from each other. Mariam helped me out fortunately (owe you one gal!) But we cannot keep badgering each other for help can we? We can only pester someone so much.

9) It’s Sunday, and IMU will be CLOSED.

10) WTH is wrong with IMU? Is $330k not enough for you? Please stop torturing us. Just let us study, sit for the exams, and graduate in peace. I beg of you.

As always, when exam is approaching, I’ll take the opportunity to waste some study time to write some nonsense on this blog.

Exam’s in 2 weeks. Summative to be exact, which is my end of semester 5 examination. The stress comes after that, because we have 2 weeks to cram semester 3, 4 and 5 for our EOS examination on the 28th November.

I’LL BE A FREE BIRD STARTING DEC 3rd.
Actually December 2nd right after my OSCE (practical exam)!
I can’t wait to do all those things I’ve always wanted to do! I’m not telling you what they are though, until it actually takes off. :)

I’ll be resuming my studies in Tuanku Ja’afar Hosp + IMU Clinical School in Seremban, March 2011 onwards. Which I will rot away, again. Curse you, Medical school.

Btw, does anyone have any recommendations on getting rid of hyperpigmentations? I have pigmentation popping up on my face, due to UV damage from my camping, kawat, and sunburn days back in school. And I’m desperate.

Hello!

I’d been trying out Tumblr as my blogging tool.. Despite living by it’s reputation ‘The easiest way to blog’, but I realised that it’s not as flexible as the conventional blogging tools available like Blogger and Wordpress.

Been pretty busy with my revision as well. However, with some good loud music, twitter, facebook and emails.. it aint so bad after all. Sometimes we just need to relax, have a little fun, go for a movie or makan.. then get back to the books. Rather than getting sick of studying and start throwing fits .. right?

The 1st time I spotted the shrilling chicken was probably a year ago, at a clearance sale in Kajang. Alex and I played with it and ran off, laughing our asses off, that awfully funny sound it made!

Little did I know, that was not the end of our encounter with the shrilling chicken. In no time, this toy has sprouted all over the world! Heck, I went to Shanghai and I spotted it, Malacca it’s there, and then I stumbled upon it on Youtube, apparently it’s in US too.

Who would have known this toy will be such a hit!

Busy.

I’m so swamped that I’m so glad I’m having my semester break right now. Crazy I tell you.

I had planned to do some ‘revision’ as my next exam in November is the biggest one. We have to sit for this exam which will examine us on 3 semesters worth of lectures. That is translated to 1.5 years. 1 semester notes itself is enough to throw us into panic attacks.

Shamefully, I haven’t started a single bit of revision. All I did was arrange my lecture notes nicely in the bookshelf.

And I see my peers still going to IMU’s library even during the break. Madness.

OMG, tell you what, there’s this new song that I’m really crazy over at the moment. Not only that, it’s even more incredible when I found out that the singer, Mizz Nina, is actually Malaysian!

Kelly Clarkson Selling Fast? Dayum!

Oh my, last year I was such a party pooper. I can’t exactly remember the reason why I missed out on the Black Eyed Peas, but I know I was at a dinner still deciding whether to go, only to realize the concert was already in session. haha.

Then the All American Rejects came over, and Jeffro got extra tix and invited me to join in the partay, and for some reason I turned down his invitation.. : / And then he asked me to go for Hannah Tan’s concert, and I turned down his invitation again. I think exam was round the corner. Damn! I was already regretting being in Medical School.

Then Lady Gaga came over to Singapore. And Jade won passes for the concert AND THE AFTER PARTY, and asked me to go with her. Guess what, I turned down her invitation as well! Smack me in the head will you! :( It was because I had a few super important ACHIKE’s PHARMACOLOGY lectures which could very well drive me into failure for my exam. Believe me, I took a long hard time deciding whether Lady Gaga was worth skipping those lectures!

I wonder.. I guess nobody ever want to ask me for another concert after that series of un-sporting-ness.

Anyway, leave me to regret the year 2009 (wasn’t exactly a good year for me either), guess which concert I’m missing out this year?

KELLY CLARKSON ALL I EVER WANTED TOUR.

Anyway, I still have another day to decide. I was being kepochi, so I checked Axcess and found out that the RM338 category has been sold out! And it’s not even the Rock Zone.

Another reason why I’m being a little hesitant is also because if I’m ever gonna rock my head off to Kelly Clarkson, it’s gotta be rocking from the free standing section (the ROCK ZONE) which will cost a total damage of RM 358!

It’s no fun going for a rock concert if you’re gonna be seated! Trust me, I’ve been to a few concerts that people actually do just sit and mostly just scream along. Boo.. And you can’t exactly stand when you feel like it cos you’ll likely incur some wrath when you caused a person to miss something from blocking their view.

Little Nyonya

Currently I’ve been really obsessed with the Singaporean drama series ‘The Little Nyonya’.

I haven’t been so obsessed with something for a very long time. It’s just so enchanting, the setting, the baju kebaya, the food, the culture…

This is the main character of the movie, Huang Juxiang/Yamamoto Yueniang, played by the same actress Jeanette Aw. Beautiful isn’t she?

Huang Yuzhu, played by Joanne Peh, is another fan favourite. She’s Yueniang’s bestfriend who at the end suffered the worst fate. Absolutely heartbreaking…

I must say, Tao-jie wasnt given due credit for her incredible performance! Haha.. I absolutely love her. She’s the Huang family’s servant, who is loyal to Yueniang, and even suffered a broken leg for defending Yueniang.

This is Yueniang’s love interest, Chen Xi, who also suffered much to pursue his love for her. At the end, although they both loved each other, but they didn’t end up together.

However, this guy here is the heartthrob for most! Yueniang’s father, Yamamoto Yousuke, the Japanese photographer who fell in love with Huang Juxiang and eloped with her to Singapore.

I’ve been living in the Little Nyonya World for the past few days and can never seem to shake it off! Haha.. I’ve even been dreaming about it as well! I don’t quite know why I am so obsessed with it.

Maybe.. maybe because I’m nyonya as well ;)

Okla, not pure la. But I do know how to cook some nyonya dishes ok! Like babi ponteh, nyonya chap chye… Kueh-kueh tak tahu la.. hahahaha. How I regret not learning from my grandma.. I remember the days when I used to curi-curi cut myself slices of kueh lapis. We used to treat that as a snack, now I realized it’s quite a lost heritage! Anyhow it’s quite a long process to make that kueh..

Oh well~ I think I might be watching it all over again. Haha..

I am well aware that I havent been blogging much these days. Well, since March more like it.

Anyway~ I am blogging today to announce that my HP Mini 210 has arrived!!

Oh, I have much praises for this sleek baby :D But I’ll leave that to another time!

I’m currently trying out the Windows Live Writer which I usually use for blogging. Who knows, with the convenience of the netbook, which is only about the size of half an A4 paper, I might just blog more frequently. MIGHT.

I am terrible in maintaining things. Alongside with recalling birthdates and buying birthday presents.

While I’m at it, I might as well just update you guys a little. I am doing good :) finally seeing signs of losing a little bit of weight after the horror of gaining a total of 15kg from August 2008 til March 2010, no matter how much I exercised and cutting down on carbs. I donno guys, I think IMU kinda jinxed me. dammit.

I am in Sem 4, which in IMU is also known as THE honeymoon semester. With no big stressful exams. Life is good, friends are great and never a single moment of boredom! :) However, schedule’s still relatively packed despite the honeymoon semester, the good kinda packed. No complaints here ;)

Hair’s growing a little, but still in the awkward what-the-hell-im-gonna-do-with-this stage, while waiting for it to grow a little longer before I rebond it. I’m now the kind that bothers with what people think of me, so its still bearable :) Bad hair days aint gonna affect me that much.

Oh, and quite sometime ago, I don’t think I’ve mentioned, I’ve retired from the Photography Club as the Publicity Officer. And soon after that I’ve undertaken the Layout Designer position in the IMU Editorial Board, which is operated under the wings of the Student Council. Half a year later of waiting for articles and whatnot, we have finally released out very 1st Edition of
THE STETHOSCOPE,
our very own IMU newsletter under our watch!

Balik Sekolah Lor….

My 2 months long holidays has been used up! It is just not enough. Oh well, I’m now back in IMU and I’m still very much in the holiday mood. But it’s surely weird that we’re very much considered seniors now! It felt like just yesterday when I started in August 2008, and soon we’ll be completing our medic theory phase by the end of November 2010. And soon, we’ll all be heading to different universities for the practical phase.

Well, unfortunately for those who will be doing it locally in IMU Seremban, you’ll still be seeing me up til 2013 :D har har…

The holidays were very well spent. =) Been going out almost everyday, and enjoyed it immensely. And also very much poorer, hehe..

I hope to enjoy uni more this semester. Since we have more time this semester, im hoping to spend more time with uni frens. :) Have not been doing a very good job at that, since alot of us always cabut right after class. To beat the 5pm traffic jam for example. That includes me :D

Hope to prepare well for EOS5 this November and not get into any panic attacks by doing last minute work again. This resolution is a long shot for me, but I hope for a little discipline at the very least! Hehe.

Move to extend compulsory government service for doctors

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 27 — The government proposes to extend the compulsory public service for doctors to five or 10 years from the current three to overcome the annual shortage of doctors in its hospitals, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Senator Datuk T. Murugiah said today.

Last year alone, the country faced a shortage of 5,000 doctors, he added.

“Every year, we face a shortage of doctors because they serve with the government for only five years — two years on housemanship and three years on compulsory service.

“This system has been in use since 1971 and, as such, we should have a new mechanism to resolve the problem,” he told reporters after a working visit to the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Murugiah said the government’s adoption of the proposal would mean that the doctors would be able to garner more experience before they moved on to the private sector or set up their own practice.

“The doctors should not only think about profit. They also have to think about the country’s interests — your contribution to the country,” he said.

Murugiah said similar measures could also be applied in other disciplines where there was a shortage of personnel such as dentists and pharmacists.

However, he said, this was up to the Health Ministry, Economic Planning Unit (EPU) and the Public Service Department (PSD) to discuss and decide.

He also said that last year, the government appointed 50,756 civil servants, including candidates for paramedical training, which exceeded the target of 50,000 appointments set by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

A total of 7,785,262 applications were received and 358,366 people were called for interview but only 199,660 turned up for the interview, he said. — Bernama

I’ve gotta be honest with you though, I’m not a big fan of twilight, only because I don’t quite appreciate the way the 1st movie was staged. Some parts are too choppy, some are too monotonous, some are too .. poeitic? Not to mention, the whole movie looks like it’s filtered through a cyan colored-lens.

Though I’ve got friends gushing over it and bought the DVD from the Connaught pasar malam right after the movie, only to be disappointed by the lousy quality. Buttt, not everyone appreciates movies like Phantom of the Opera and Les Choristes like I do. So before any twilight fan bashes me up the next time you see me in any pasar malam, we’re even to this point, yea? =)

However, I’ve got friends telling me the twilight novels are absolute treasures. So good that it can be re-read. Over and over again. And the movie just don’t do justice to the twilight saga. Hey, I’ve got guy friends reading it too!

So it must be really really good right?

Looking at the cast line-up, plus the trailer, I must say I’m feeling the heat! Step aside you cold-blooded vampire, the hold-blooded wolves are here!

The trailer itself does promise us a more action-packed love-hungry intensified movie! And man, I just can’t wait to catch this movie and see what it has to offer. And maybe this movie might jump-start my interest in the twilight novels.

And I also can’t wait to catch the all grown up Dakota Fanning in the movie! Fuh~ I almost thought she’ll stay that little forever!

I don’t think I gotta tell you what’s this movie all about. But if you really do not have any idea of what it’s about I can summarise it for you. Sultry hot human Bella meets Sexy cold vampire Edward. Edward stays away from Bella to protect her. Bella meets Buff gorgeous wolf Jacob. Hot blooded drama boiling right there babey!

For the girls: Intense romance!
For the guys: It’s action-packed!

Watch the movie. You won’t regret it. I can tell it. 6th sense. Trust me.

It has been 3 weeks or so :P Pretty old news but I know I haven’t been in the blogging scene and events for 3 months now due to exams and such. I’ve contemplated on quitting though, but well I guess I’ll just keep my blog for ‘documentation’ purposes and to keep my old buddies in the loop.

My hair’s growing rather fast, I hope to get it to shoulder length in a few months. *fingers-crossed* Starting to miss my long hair and the days when I would rush to uni without even brushing my hair because it’s just damn easy to maintain long hair (except for the fact that it was getting pretty damaged from the straightening and coloring). Now I’m still pretty blah about waxing my hair and all, but oh well :P

Other than that, I’ve gained 12 kilos. That’s pretty depressing i know, especially for a girl. But I don’t know why I’m also pretty blah bout that too. Now I look so.. unfeminine. I can’t wear half my clothes now as well.

*dances* Lol. I definitely need to lose alot of weight. I just don’t really have the time.

Lots has happened for the past 3 months. Just don’t have the time to blog. And kinda lazy too. And also have been out quite often. Which is so gonna take it’s toll on me for my upcoming exam on the 28th of August.

District 9 is a pretty exciting upcoming movie directed by Peter Jackson. The man behind the amazing directorship of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I’m sure this is one of those movies that will keep you from blinking out of awe.

Here’s the trailer:

Thirty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa’s District 9 as the world’s nations argued over what to do with them.

Now, patience over the alien situation has run out. Control over the aliens has been contracted out to Multi-National United (MNU), a private company uninterested in the aliens’ welfare – they will receive tremendous profits if they can make the aliens’ awesome weaponry work. So far, they have failed; activation of the weaponry requires alien DNA.

The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative, Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. Wikus quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable – he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.

The movies this summer rocks my socks babey! This month alone I’ve watched Transformers twice, Ice Age twice, Harry Potter, 17 again, Night at the Museum and yesterday..

The special screening of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past for Nuffnangers at TGV 1Utama which is due to premiere only next week in Malaysia! :) Yeehaaa, we watched it 1 week earlier. *dances*

No wonder I’m so broke this month, that I even have to borrow some cash from my younger bro.

I Can Relate to Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

I’ve been looking forward to this movie for quite some time now. Woohoo!

Just recently, I've watched 'He's Just Not That Into You' and this upcoming movie is kinda like a sequel to that movie IMO. Also, I've been watching alot of 'How I Met Your Mother' which highlights the quest of this guy searching for THE ONE while in New York City with his buddies.

I mean, let's not talk bout movies, and just look around us. Many of us have different ideas on the question of love, dating and relationship. Some relationship's been serious at the word 'go'. Some falters after some time. Some progresses. Some's just puppy love. Some's love at first sight, yes?

At the end of it all, it's always a happy ending and a happily ever after. Some would have found that happy ending already. Some might have suffered from heart breaks. Some just have to wait for the right one to come by :) I believe in happy endings.

This story's about this character played by Matthew McConaughey who's a celebrity photographer. With looks, career and charm, he is one of the most available bachelors around with the ladies swarming from every corner. Which he greets with open hands.

Then he found himself falling in love. He fell deep for her. He freaked out, and did what he does best, leave in the morning back into his glamourous life. Until he met her again. He was brought back into the past, which brought him to realise how much he didn't want to lose her.

I'm a sucker for romance movies. So I'm sure I'm gonna find this movie a good watch :P

The Mysterious Ticking Noise

You may or may not know, but I used to spend hours on end throughout the night YouTubing. It was an addiction. Really.

It was neverending. The amount of videos I’ve watched, one after another. Absurd ones, Funny ones, Sick-in-the-head ones, Touching ones..

Constantly checking out the ‘Most popular Videos’ , ‘Most viewed Videos’ , ‘Featured Videos’ , ‘Related Videos’ . Constantly sending links to my friends and laughing our asses off. And another YouTube link-sharing spree would start from there.

‘YouTube is like an addiction’

I’d stopped this YouTube addiction when I moved back to Connaught when Uni started in August ‘08, due the freaggin’ slow connection. Which in return actually made me glued to the TeeVee instead. Oh, and also the many movies and series shared amongst my housemates.

Now that I’m back in Kajang. There are other things that actually got me a lil caught up. Like Plurking.

Plurk is somewhat like Twitter + MSN. The constant replying keeps you so caught up that without realising, you might be on it for hours. It’s really like keeping up with 10 MSN conversations at 1 go.

Now you know what I’ve been doing when I’m supposed to be studying.

Another thing that I’ve been gushing about is this Mixpod. Somewhat like Imeem. But the best part is, Mixpod actually imports audio clips from other sharing sites like YouTube. So you can find almost anything there and add it into your playlist.

Oo! Not only that, it loads extremely fast even with my lousy connection, with no glitches (except if you are loading other big sites as well). Now I don’t even need to download anymore, just click on play, and it plays the whole night through.

You see, it has gone a full circle. Now Mixpod has brought me to realise again the wonders of YouTube that I was once intrigued about.

There you go! My bro and I used to sing this aloud everyday at home. If it harbors the same effect on you, I guarantee you, the song will be playing in your head for days.
