Human Rights Watch issued one of its perfunctory reports against Israel's enemies that appear designed purely to be evidence for them to say "See? we are evenhanded! We only attack Israel 95% of the time!"

This report is about Hezbollah using cluster munitions against Israeli communities. They gather evidence, photos and interviews in Metula. The report itself is an article, it isn't like the extensive 45-page PDF HRW issued the same day accusing Israel of "inhumanity" for using white phosphorus.

But one part of the cluster munition piece is interesting:

Human Rights Watch researchers visited Metula in May and confirmed the use of cluster munitions, analyzed the impact sites, and interviewed four witnesses. Hezbollah claimed responsibility on social media for rocket attacks against Metula on March 4 and 15, but in response to a Human Rights Watch request for comment, denied using or even possessing cluster munitions.

They deny even possessing them??

When a terror group is caught in a lie like that, why does anyone give it any credence again? But the rules are different with those who want to destroy Israel: each lie is just a data point, unrelated to the hundreds of other data points that prove the pattern.

HRW just treats it as a standard denial and doesn't press the point.

Hezbollah's post on March 4 had an additional lie claiming Metula was a military target:

...The mujahideen of the Islamic Resistance targeted, at 01:20 at dawn today, Wednesday, 04/03/2026, a gathering of the Israeli enemy army forces at the Metula site, with a missile salvo.

The Gaza casualty figures the West was too frightened to question

It is particularly revealing that Hamas and PIJ have now begun publishing names of their own dead fighters. Those obituaries provide information which was largely unavailable during the war. In several cases, they have effectively contradicted the original classification of the dead by international media and monitoring organisations.

The response should not be to conclude that every dead Palestinian journalist was a terrorist, or that every Palestinian doctor was secretly a militant. That would be very wrong. The proper conclusion is that every casualty database requires scrutiny.

There is another uncomfortable possibility that Western commentators have been reluctant to contemplate: Hamas and PIJ may have understood perfectly well the extraordinary political and emotional power of civilian status in the Western information environment.

A dead journalist generates headlines, as does a dead doctor. A dead paramedic produces photographs of ambulances, uniforms and bloodied medical equipment. A dead Hamas fighter produces none of these things.

If militant organisations deliberately blurred those categories, they were exploiting precisely the protections that democratic societies have painstakingly established for civilians and humanitarian workers, and that would be a particularly cynical form of information warfare.

But there is an equally important warning for Israel. The discovery of genuine Hamas or PIJ members among journalists and medical personnel does not give the Israeli military a licence to regard every journalist, doctor or paramedic as a terrorist. Nor does it eliminate Israel’s obligation to establish, before an attack where feasible, that a legitimate military target actually exists.

Indeed, recent events demonstrate why that distinction matters. An investigation published this week into the 2024 killing of World Central Kitchen workers has raised serious questions about Israeli targeting practices and the use of guilt by association.

Similarly, the Israeli military has recently opened criminal investigations into the deaths of five-year-old Hind Rajab and 15 Palestinian paramedics, after previously denying or disputing aspects of what happened.

So there are two truths which ought to be capable of existing simultaneously. Hamas and PIJ may have exploited civilian professions for military and propaganda purposes, and Israel can still be responsible for unlawful or reckless attacks against genuine civilians.

The refusal to acknowledge the first truth because it complicates the second is propaganda. The refusal to acknowledge the second because it complicates the first is propaganda too. What is most troubling is the intellectual laziness of the Western debate.

For years, journalists and politicians have demanded that Israel substantiate allegations about Hamas operating from civilian infrastructure. That demand is legitimate, but the same standard should now be applied in the opposite direction.

When an individual appears in hospital photographs wearing medical clothing and subsequently appears in militant imagery carrying a weapon, journalists should investigate, and when the evidence does not stand up, that should be reported too.

That is what journalism is supposed to mean.

The greatest danger is not discovering that Hamas sometimes lied about its dead, it is in discovering that Western media organisations were so invested in a particular leftist narrative that they stopped asking whether it was true.

Gaza has produced enough suffering without adding another casualty to the list: the credibility of journalism itself.

New York Times’ Gaza war coverage was clearly biased against Israel, damning study reveals

The New York Times’ coverage of the first months of the war in Gaza displayed a clear bias against Israel by downplaying the country’s casualties while minimizing Hamas’ role in sustaining the conflict, a new study found.

A review of the Times’ 1,559 articles published between Oct. 7, 2023, and June 7, 2024, showed that the Times often omitted deaths sustained by the Jewish military while looking the other way on ongoing Palestinian violence once the war began after Hamas terrorists’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel.

Edieal Pinker of the Yale School of Management, who published his findings in the Studies in Conflict & Terrorism academic journal, said the Times’ coverage was clearly skewed against Israel.

“Drawing on a corpus of 1,559 news articles I document a dominant narrative consistent with a framing that assigns near-exclusive agency and responsibility to Israel while diminishing Hamas’s role in sustaining the conflict,” Pinker wrote.

“It describes Hamas’s October 7 attack followed by Israeli military violence and mounting Palestinian casualties, while largely omitting Israeli casualties post-October 7, Hamas fighter casualties, and post-October 7 Palestinian violence.

“Personal accounts of Palestinian suffering appear two out of every three days, while comparable accounts of Israeli suffering rarely appear,” he said.

A total of 437 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the Jewish state began its offensive in Gaza, with dozens of police officers and civilians also killed and injured in terror attacks throughout the war, according to Israeli officials.

Pinker argued that the Times’ coverage ultimately portrayed Israel as the “sole aggressor” in the conflict while Palestinians were depicted as “passive victims.”

Mahmood urged to ban Doctors Without Borders over ‘terror links’

Shabana Mahmood is being urged to proscribe Doctors Without Borders (MSF) over its staff’s alleged links to terrorist groups.

UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) has written to the Home Office, Charity Commission and Fundraising Regulator demanding that it investigate alleged ties between Doctors Without Borders and Palestinian terror groups.

The pro-Israel lobbying group is calling on Ms Mahmood, the Home Secretary, to ban the charity in a manner akin to Labour’s proscription of Palestine Action.

Palestine Action was banned by the Government last year after officials claimed that serious criminal damage it had inflicted met the threshold for proscription under the Terrorism Act. The move made membership of, or support for, the group a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison.

A report produced by UKLFI, seen by The Telegraph, describes the alleged connections between MSF employees and terrorists, including the late Fadi Jihad Mohammed al-Wadiya, a Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ) militant.

Wadiya, a physiotherapist who was employed by MSF between 2018-22 and then again from Oct 7, 2023, was killed in an Israeli air strike in Gaza City on June 25, 2024, in an attack condemned by the charity.

Doctors Without Borders initially denied Wadiya’s involvement with the terrorist group, but on Feb 24 this year the PIJ published a poster naming him as a “martyr commander” and identifying him as “deputy head of its military manufacturing unit”.

Only then did Doctors Without Borders, who still have Wadiya listed as an employee on their website, edit their post about him to say: “On 24 February 2026, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) publicly stated that Fadi Al Wadiya had been a member of the group.

“MSF had no indication that Fadi Al Wadiya might have been involved in military activity of any kind prior to his killing by the Israeli Forces.

“If the Israeli authorities had any reliable information about Fadi’s involvement in military activity, they never shared it with MSF either prior to his killing or when we reached out immediately after he was killed to ask for clarifications around the circumstances of his death.

“We would never knowingly employ people engaging in military activity. Any employee who engages in military activity would pose a danger to our staff and patients.”

The report also raises concerns about Nasser Hamdi Abdelatif Al Shalfouh, an MSF driver who is accused by Israel of being a sniper for the Hamas Jabaliya battalion.

Doctors Without Borders has never addressed allegations of Mr Shalfouh’s involvement with the proscribed organisation.

In 2023, MSF UK raised £11.3m, and ring-fenced around £1m for projects in the Palestinian territories. In 2024, this amount was increased to £2.7m, according to research by UKLFI.

UKLFI claims that despite these sizeable donations, appropriate safeguarding measures are not in place to minimise the risk that money raised by Britons could be used to benefit people associated with proscribed groups.

A UKLFI spokesman said: “British donors giving money to MSF are entitled to expect the highest possible standards of vetting and due diligence, particularly where substantial sums are being transferred into territory controlled by Hamas.

Two screens, one choice: The lie of ‘Naza’ and the truth of ‘Fauda’

I was there. And in a sense, I have been inside both films.

The first is “Naza,” an Israeli movie that won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival and received an astonishing 25-minute standing ovation on Saturday.

Do not be deceived by the applause.

The creators are themselves Jews and Israelis. That creates a double deception: The film can be presented to international audiences not merely as an accusation against Israel, but as an accusation seemingly validated from within Israeli society itself.

Yet they employ against the Jews one of the oldest weapons in the arsenal of antisemitism: a blood libel.

I investigated the Israel Defense Forces’ war on the ground, including the deaths of civilians that “Naza” depicts as the consequence of a deliberate policy of cruelty and extermination.

The truth is the opposite.

Then there is the second screen: Netflix, where millions of viewers around the world are watching the TV series “Fauda.” It is a magnificent series, and in its latest season, it confronts an international audience with something many people have never truly understood: the horror of Oct. 7, 2023.

In the aftermath of the Hamas massacre, I visited the burned-out kibbutzim. I walked through the homes of murdered young people and saw blood in kindergartens. I saw the dead piled up. I listened to parents and children and heard testimony about rape and other atrocities.

These are the two screens now before us: the lie and the truth.

The reception given to “Naza” in Venice tells us something disturbing about a cultural milieu apparently eager to believe the worst accusations against the Jewish state. The anonymous voices in the film who claim that Israel made a decision to target civilians make accusations that my own experience contradicts. My witnesses are not anonymous.

At Tze’elim, I entered the high-tech command tents from which soldiers are directed building by building, house by house and tunnel by tunnel.

Asaf, a 51-year-old colonel, and other soldiers explained to me how instructions are issued in real time: Stop. Advance. Change route. Destroy. Avoid.

The purpose is twofold: to protect Israeli soldiers and to protect civilians.

That is the opposite of the picture presented by “Naza.”

Jewish filmmakers played a starring role in Hollywood’s earliest days.

Today, Jewish artists are more likely to be targeted for boycotts, shamed in public or besmirched for any ties to Israel.

Tinseltown’s current cause célèbre? The Palestinian people.

The just-wrapped Venice Film Festival gave a record-setting 25-minute standing ovation to “NAZA,” a documentary arguing that Israel is purposefully targeting and killing Palestinian civilians.

Yet the nation’s extensive efforts to warn citizens of incoming attacks and millions spent feeding hungry Palestinians suggest otherwise.

“NAZA” won a Special Jury Prize at the celebrated festival. It’s likely to battle the anti-Elon Musk documentary “Musk” for top prize at next year’s Oscar gala.

Meanwhile, a flap involving John Malkovich –– an Oscar hopeful for his work in the upcoming “Wild Horse Nine” –– illustrates Hollywood’s double standard.

Malkovich recently backed out of an Israel-based performance of “The Music Critic.”

The reason? A press release for the live event allegedly made up quotes from the actor praising Israel.

The quotes in question included: “[I look] forward to meeting the warm Israeli audience once again, to whom I feel a strong closeness and solidarity.”

The veteran actor, who knows how tricky an Oscar campaign can be, didn’t just withdraw from the gig.

He released a statement suggesting Israel was complicit in war crimes.

“My appearance in any country, even my own, does not constitute approval of said country’s policies, nor actions, nor its elected or unelected leaders. My appearances would also not condone nor mean that I am in supposed ‘solidarity’ with any particular political cause, nor with the killing of innocents, nor with any acts of terrorism, nor any other kind of barbarity.”

Any alleged pro-Israel pose from Malkovich, seeking his first Oscar at the age of 72, would not help his cause.

Yet stars like Javier Bardem can cry, “Free Palestine” from the Oscar stage and not fear an ounce of blowback or job discrimination.

Meanwhile, while Oscar winners (Jane Fonda, George Clooney, Joaquin Phoenix) defend Mark Ruffalo from his latest anti-Israel screed, a Jewish actor/comedian shared what he endures for being outspoken in Hollywood.

Uri Kurlianchik: The New Mercenaries

There is something people need to understand about Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, the producers of the anti-Israel propaganda films “No Other Land” and “Naza.”

They are not whistle blowers. They are not concerned citizens. They are not Israeli Snowdens or even Israeli Wallace Shawns.

If they were, they would have gone with whatever “evidence” they have uncovered to the authorities, or the press if they don’t trust the authorities, or some international investigative body if they don’t trust the press. They would have presented concrete facts and actionable evidence that would have led to prosecution, not insinuations that cannot be used in any legal way.

They would not have released a highly-stylized film in a foreign film festival to the thunderous applause of Israel’s foreign enemies. They would not have produced a dramatic story where faceless, nameless people who, for all we know might be actors, read lines seemingly written by al-Mayadeen and Al-Jazeera with no sources or attributions.

Yuval claims that exposing state actions is a moral responsibility for Israelis, but he and his accomplices didn’t expose anything. Is there a single person that can be prosecuted based on his tall tales? These are not witness testimonies, it’s not even hearsay. Any judge in the world would have laughed him out of court with this “evidence.”

No. Except for giving ammunition to Israel’s enemies, he and his accomplice have done nothing.

They are not even Kapos, because Kapos acted under duress against their own people to save their families and lives, not for clout and profit.

People like Yuval and Szor are mercenaries funded by Israel's enemies to damage the country during war. Even the great champions of free speech, the United States, don’t tolerate unregistered foreign agents acting against Americans on American territory.

So why does Israel?

And make no mistake.

Everything about this movies is foreign. The production companies are foreign. The country of origin is foreign. The release is foreign.

These are not Israeli films. These are foreign, anti-Israel films wearing Israeli creators like a fig leaf. Image

They are being paid to give credence to anti-Israel propaganda by giving it the "validation" of an Israeli voice. They are astroturfed Solzhenitsyns. They are international Quislings. They are collaborators in a foreign anti-Israel operation.

Contrary to their claims, there is nothing Jewish about what they are doing.

Culture minister urges revoking citizenship of ‘NAZA’ film creators for ‘treason’

Culture Minister Miki Zohar accused filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor of treason on Sunday evening and called for their citizenship to be revoked, after their documentary “NAZA,” which is about Israel’s alleged AI-assisted killing of civilians in Gaza, won a special jury prize at the Venice Film Festival.

“The searing self-hatred of the producers, who are willing to hurt their homeland for applause from the antisemites of the world, is inconceivable and is a betrayal of the country,” Zohar said in a statement.

He also said that “as culture minister, I will immediately act to revoke the Israeli citizenship of these despicable directors for treason against the state.”

Other Israeli ministers also took aim at the directors, who won an Oscar in 2025 for their film “No Other Land” about settler violence in the West Bank.

“You are a disgrace and an embarrassment to the entire people of Israel. Go away!” far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said on X.

“I am certain that your friends, that is to say our enemies Hamas in Gaza, will welcome you with open arms,” he continued.

One last thing for today about the most-applauded “documentary” at the Venice Film Festival.

“NAZA” is a Hebrew acronym for “collateral damage”.

Perhaps, too, if the West hadn’t already woken up to the horrors of jihad 22 years earlier, it would have done so on October 7, 2023. And if we hadn’t already been two decades into our own misguided post-9/11 self-recrimination, we might have responded with appropriate levels of shock, disgust, and rage at Hamas’s massacre of innocents. Perhaps, instead of opposing Israel’s ensuing war of survival, the civilized world would have cheered it on. There’s no room in that alternate universe for an intifada-friendly mayor of New York City.

But my point isn’t really about Mamdani. It’s rather that if 9/11 plunged the U.S. into a forever war—and I believe it did—it’s not the one that Americans fought in Iraq or in Afghanistan, and it’s not the current war in Iran. Our real forever war is the domestic cultural fight that’s been raging for a quarter century since we were attacked. It’s the war over who we are, the intentions of our enemies, what’s worth defending, what must be defeated, and how to go about it all.

It’s an internal forever war between those who will go to any length to defend the greatest country in history and those who’ve been so blessed by America that they’ve got nothing left to oppose but America herself.

A few years before 9/11, Osama bin Laden said that the U.S. is a “paper tiger” that can’t go the distance in a real war because we don’t have the will to endure casualties. And he claimed that the American soldier is known for his low morale. So bin Laden believed that after being attacked, the U.S. would fold on the battlefield. It’s true that Americans are a humane, feeling people, and we rightly despise seeing harm come to our own. But bin Laden was no prognosticator. The U.S. won the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, overcoming the direst setbacks at a tremendous cost in blood and treasure. In fact, the most senseless aspect of our retreat from Afghanistan in 2021 was that Joe Biden orchestrated the whole debacle only after our armed forces had endured the grueling work of defeating the enemy. We’re now on our way to victory in Iran.

The U.S. will continue to win its wars against theocratic savages. Our real weakness is that a significant portion of the American people have a problem with winning—so much so that we take our hard-earned victories and place them at the feet of the monsters we’ve defeated.

Twenty-five years ago, al-Qaeda killed 3,000 Americans. The U.S. then successfully destroyed al-Qaeda and toppled its Taliban protectors. But what was required to avenge thousands of American deaths and prevent future attacks threw some into a tailspin. In their counterfactual scenario, the U.S. loses. Giving Afghanistan back to the Taliban was but a step toward making that a reality. They’re looking to hand over the American homeland, starting with New York.

Bin Laden wanted to attack UK and Israel years before 9/11, secret dossier reveals

The previously top secret documents detail how the UK was on the hitlist of the al Qaida leader back in 1998.

The information emerged in a trove of President’s Daily Brief (PDB) products released by CIA director John Ratcliffe to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks, which claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people, including 67 British citizens.

The spy agency said the single largest publication of such files related to the atrocity “aimed to give Americans a glimpse into our most sensitive intelligence from the years before and day after one of our nation’s darkest moments”.

It added that the 71 briefing notes, which have been redacted, “trace the story of CIA analysts’ evolving understanding” of al Qaida and efforts to highlight and warn of Bin Laden’s plotting “despite sparse, vague, and imperfect information”.

Notably, there are several references in the documents to plans by Bin Laden to hijack planes, including the possibility that a group “may fly an explosive-packed airplane into a US city”.

The PDB is a confidential dossier presented to the US president each day, summarising the most important global threats, national security issues, and intelligence analysis.

One of the documents dated August 28 1998, said that Bin Laden, which the agency spells in the files as Bin Ladin, was looking to target the UK. The 9/11 Living Memorial Plaza in The Arazim Valley outside Jerusalem is the only memorial outside of the United States that lists the names of every victim from the Sept. 11 attacks. (U.S. Embassy)

Entitled “Bin Ladin Terrorist Network Still a Threat”, it was compiled following American cruise missile strikes on al Qaida bases in Sudan and Afghanistan in retaliation for the earlier bombing of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, which claimed hundreds of lives.

It stated: “Hours before the US missile strikes, Bin Ladin (redacted) was looking at options for further attacks against the US as well as the UK (redacted) Bin Ladin did not indicate precise targets or timing.”

A further memo at the end of that year, subject marked “Significant Near-Term Threat of Bin Ladin Attacks”, said: “We have strong indications that he would like to attack the US and allies such as the UK and Israel on their own soil.

“If Bin Ladin judges these venues are too well defended, however, he will target US and allied interests in other areas of the world accessible to his network.”

That tweet – posted with a twinkle in the eye by the late great comedian Norm Macdonald in December 2016 – might just be the most incisive piece of satire our still-young century has so far produced.

It had another good airing on social media over the weekend, as the world marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and mainstream-media outlets couldn’t help but Do The Norm Tweet, pivoting away from the apocalyptic Islamist atrocity itself to hand-wring about the ‘backlash’ supposedly suffered by Muslims in its wake:

‘After 9/11, Islamophobia shaped a generation of Muslim New Yorkers’, ran a headline in the New York Times. ‘We were viewed through the lens of terrorism’, a British Muslim interviewee told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. ‘Sadly there were questions about our faith and whether we share British values.’

You’d be forgiven for thinking 9/11 was a colossal act of ‘Islamophobic hate speech’ – a spicy viral YouTube video, perhaps – rather than the mass slaughter of Americans by Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda for having the temerity to defy their radical Islamic ideology.

The liberal elites have been struggling to shake off this tic for a quarter of a century now. We saw it in Britain last year, when the 20th anniversary of the 7/7 London bombings was met with a preponderance of thinkpieces in which ‘Islamophobia’ was mentioned more than Islamism, if Islamism was mentioned at all.

To the extent liberal outlets feel comfortable talking about the attacks themselves, they can do so only by paying solemn tribute to those slain, as if they were the victims of a natural disaster or a national-security screw-up. The searing, pressing question of why they were murdered is one to be evaded at all costs.

Palestinian flag-waving agitator who stormed 9/11 anniversary event unmasked as self-described 'Marxist'... as OnlyFans account and anti-Trump and Joe Rogan rants surface

The Palestinian flag-waving man who stormed the field at Yankee Stadium during Friday's Subway Series matchup has been identified as Kelly Marcucci, a Long Island man who is now facing several misdemeanor charges.

Wearing a baseball jersey with 'No Kings' emblazoned across the front, Marcucci was seen sprinting onto the field with the flag in the seventh inning only to be tackled by security amid stadium-wide chants of 'USA! USA!'

'No Kings' is a maxim adopted by many of President Donald Trump's critics.

As revealed by the NYPD on Saturday, the 38-year-old Marcucci has been booked for interference with a professional sporting event and trespassing following his arrest during the Yankees' 6-4 win over the crosstown Mets. The protest occurred during a game scheduled to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks.

Prior to the game, Marcucci posted a rant on his Facebook page blasting everyone from Trump to podcaster Joe Rogan. He went on to discuss the evils of capitalism and Saudi Arabia's alleged role in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

There is also a deactivated OnlyFans account appearing to belong to Marcucci, who is seen shirtless with a noticeable bulge protruding from his shorts in a profile picture atop the page. Although that image seems mirrored, there is an identifiable tattoo on Marcucci's biceps - the same design peeking out from his left sleeve on Friday night in the Bronx.

Allison Pearson: Spare us the righteousness, Ed Miliband. You’re a disgrace

The wretched truth is this Government cares only for its own survival. On the very day Miliband was announcing punitive action against the one liberal democracy in the Middle East, Andy Burnham had a “constructive conversation” with the president of China. Afterwards, a spokesman for China said the two countries should “respect and trust each other, rise above disagreements, and broaden the agenda of mutually beneficial cooperation”.

The hypocrisy is sickening. The actual Chinese genocide of Uyghur Muslims (hundreds of thousands held in concentration camps) weighs less heavily on the tender consciences of our Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary than the allegations of “ethnic cleansing” of Palestinians in the West Bank. There’s no talk from Burnham or Miliband about slapping sanctions on China, however repellent their actions. Yet righteous grandstanding against Israel on the world stage (at who knows what cost to the British people in economic pain or weakened security) is Labour Party policy, so long as it helps secure victory in the forthcoming Holborn and St Pancras by-election.

Closer to home, we could point to Piddington, where 133 women who live in the Oxfordshire village have just released a powerful video in which they appeal to female MPs, expressing their fears about being swamped by between 1,200 and 3,510 undocumented, illegal male migrants, who would no doubt share the Foreign Secretary’s weird passion for the Palestinian cause. “We are mothers. We are grandmothers. We are widows,” say the women of Piddington. “We are worried we will be outnumbered 10 to one. You’ll destroy this place.”

Will the Government listen? Of course not. They’re far too busy sucking up to Islamists on the 25th anniversary of 9/11 to show any compassion towards English women who rightly fear men from the very cultures that cheered the demonic attack on the Twin Towers. Miliband has picked a side, and it is the side of those who rejoice to see the fall of Western civilisation.

Is it too much to hope for a foreign secretary with some talent for diplomacy? Someone who might put the British interest first? Miliband’s student-activist strategy looks set to provoke an international incident, with Jerusalem and American states already threatening retaliation. The UK’s trade with Florida alone is worth $4bn (£2.96bn) a year. Israeli pharmaceutical companies provide one in seven of the medicines used by the NHS, and we rely on them for defence systems and communications technology, not to mention my favourite hummus.

Last year, I sat next to Yossi Cohen, the charming former head of Mossad, at a dinner. He told me Israel had tipped off MI5 about numerous terrorist plots. How will that embattled country feel towards us now after being treated so ill by their supposed friends? British lives could well be lost because of Miliband’s fatuous virtue signalling, which has no chance of improving the lives of Palestinians who have a lot less interest in a two-state solution than the Islamist-appeasing Labour muppets. As an exasperated Bill Clinton, who had given peace in the Middle East his considerable all during his time as US president, once observed: “Hamas did not care about a homeland for the Palestinians. They wanted to kill Israelis and make Israel uninhabitable.”

Israelis understand that fact in every fibre of their being – survival depends on it. Israel can’t afford to be sloppy, stupid and sentimental as our politicians can, which is why, tragically, so many Jews here are making plans to leave. Our country will be so much poorer without them, but how are they supposed to feel when they see Hamas express pleasure at the policy of the British Government? Hamas, for God’s sake.

“It is absolutely risible for Ed Miliband to describe himself as a proud Jew,” fumes one member of the community. “Nothing he does demonstrates his love for Judaism. It’s clear to everyone he uses that phrase to Jew-wash his policy – it’s despicable.” It really is. I am so sorry that this sweet new year is soured by the betrayal of Britain’s best-integrated, most patriotic and productive minority. Jews have been betrayed to give comfort to some of the worst among us – we should feel ashamed.

As Israel prepares to mark the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks, can I suggest that Miliband spends Rosh Hashanah watching the fifth series of Fauda, which happily began this week on Netflix. One of the greatest ever TV dramas, Fauda charts the never-ending, poisonous cycle of conflict between Israel and Hamas. We follow Doron, a commander in the Mista’arvim undercover unit, and his phenomenal team as they try to protect their small country surrounded by implacable foes. It is no small part of the drama’s great achievement that we perfectly understand the source and depth of the Palestinian hatred, and grow to care for some of them, as much as the Jews’ ferocious will to fight and survive.

Episodes seven and eight, some of the most harrowing ever seen, portray the events of October 7, the worst genocidal attack on the Jews since the Holocaust. On a kibbutz, we see the wife and teenage children of the grizzled, wise Eli, mentor to Doron, smoked out of their safe room and murdered. Dear Eli, whom we have come to know and love over the years, is annihilated by grief.

Doron finds himself at the Nova music festival where he climbs into a skip full of freshly slaughtered beautiful young Israelis – a scene out of Hieronymus Bosch. Words fail me, but days after watching, the horror still resonates within me like a struck gong.

If you told the real-life equivalents of Doron and the Fauda guys what Miliband had just done to Israel, they’d laugh, I think. They’d find it embarrassing, pitifully beside the point. Unbelievably courageous people who had to scoop up the remains of the flower of their youth, engaged in daily battle against barbarism, care nothing for the good opinion of an adenoidal idiot ideologue from Tufnell Park.

Twenty-five years ago this week, I wrote an article for The Times. About terrorism. It appeared on the morning of 9/11, hours before the attacks on the Twin Towers took place.

In my piece, I argued that people in the West were facing an onslaught from totalitarians who were – mind, heart and soul – opposed to our way of life.

They wanted to eradicate the means by which a free society could continue to exist. A campaign was being conducted which had only one aim – annihilation.

Of course, those behind the violence utilised historic grievances and real injustices to rally support for their cause. But this was a cynical appropriation of suffering to advance fanaticism.

And the terrorists wanted to make the West feel a disabling guilt about resisting their claims. They were succeeding, as politicians, including in Britain, tried to appease them. But, I maintained, if we continued to show weakness in the face of terror, the terrorists would only be emboldened to escalate.

Even though my column appeared on that fateful Tuesday in September, it was not a prediction about what might happen to the US.

It was an analysis of what was happening to Israel. That country, I reported, was in the front line of a fight against a terrorist onslaught which was only growing. I had no idea my fears would become horrific reality in such terrible terms so soon.

I thought about that article again this week. And only partly because of the 9/11 anniversary. What really brought it to mind was the welcome for Ed Miliband’s decision to sanction Israel. From Hamas.

Hamas – the same organisation whose members danced in the streets 25 years ago to celebrate the massacre of the innocents in New York. Hamas, whose killers were responsible, on October 7 2023, for the biggest loss of Jewish life since the Holocaust. Hamas, whose whole existence is dedicated to the erasure of the existence of any Jewish homeland.

For those who believe in terror, embrace violence and hate the West, Tuesday was another day of celebration. Another day when the West weakened democracy in its fight against fanaticism, accepted the propaganda of those who wish to weaken us, and lowered our resistance to the extremists who hate our way of life.

And while Hamas and its allies celebrated, others mourned. And warned of more mourning to come.

UKLFI: Companies boycotting Israeli communities to be named & shamed - Natasha Hausdorff discusses

Natasha Hausdorff discusses with Peter Cardwell on TalkTV the threat to US businesses operating in the UK and British businesses operating in the US under US Federal and State counter-boycott if they comply with proposed UK legislation banning trade with Israeli communities in Judea & Samaria (the West Bank).

This follows an initiative of US academics and NGOs encouraging whistleblowers to report any such compliance, including any compliance in advance of the legislation being enacted, with a view to invoking applicable US laws.

The discussion also covers rising antisemitism in the UK, which Natasha points out emanates from falsehoods circulated about Israel, including by the Foreign Secretary. She suggests that there is a vicious cycle in which Jew-hate creates the falsehoods and the falsehoods promote further Jew-hate.

Natasha goes on to discuss a report in The Telegraph newspaper that the UK Home Secretary has been urged by UK Lawyers for Israel to proscribe Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF) due to its terror links.

She notes that MSF refused to cooperate with the Israeli government's attempts to ensure that MSF staff were vetted, resulting in the Israeli government refusing to work with MSF. This may have resulted in the Foreign Secretary's false remarks that Israel was preventing medical supplies to Gaza, on which the UK government appears to have relied in decisions imposing sanctions on Israel, and these sanctions in turn feed the baying crowd calling for the extinction of the Jewish State.

ASIO foils 16 terrorist attack plans since Bondi mass shooting

The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) said it has foiled 16 terrorist attacks in the later planning stages since the Bondi mass shooting.

Mike Burges, director of the ASIO, said 33 major terrorism plots, with an attack imminent or in the final stages of planning, had been unravelled since 2014, with 16 of those happening since she Bondi shooting in December 2025.

Australian Associated Press reported that Mr Burgess made the announcement during a speech on Friday, reflecting on the 25 years since 9/11.

“In the nine months since Bondi, ASIO and law enforcement have disrupted 16 of these cases – 16 cases where a terrorist threat was considered serious but not necessarily imminent,” he said.

"The alleged cases include a planned anti-Semitic attack, threats to kill Muslims, and an advocate of racist violence allegedly found in possession of weapons and ammunition."

Mr Burgess detailed how although Sunni violent extremism remained the biggest focus of ASIO’s work, terrorism threats to Australia have changed in recent years, according to the AAP.

Nine reported that Mr Burgess also gave examples of diversified attacks being seen more now, including one inspired by extreme right-wing ideologies, another inspired by extreme left-wing ideologies and one inspired by extremist Christianity, with plans to blow up a school.

He said a major concern is how terrorism threats are now growing in isolation, through social media and the internet, instead of solely a large scale operation.

"Sophisticated mass-casualty attacks have largely been supplanted by individuals or small groups using basic weapons and tactics, making it harder for authorities to detect and intervene,” he said.

"It is too simplistic to assume there is a single terrorism threat or a most likely terrorist threat as we did in the aftermath of 9/11.”

Israeli survivor of Bondi massacre haunted by terrifying moment he came face to face with evil

A young Israeli man who stared down the barrel of a rifle during the Bondi massacre has recalled the terrifying moment the shooter inexplicably spared his life, only to find himself standing over the disarmed gunman moments later, desperately screaming to “f**king shoot him”.

In his first-ever interview for the book “Bondi Terror”, Gefen Bitton reflects on his grueling recovery after being shot during the attack, which left him in a coma and required nearly two dozen surgeries.

Mr Bitton, captured in extraordinary footage with bystander Ahmed al-Ahmed who had tackled the gun from shooter Sajid Akram, says he is haunted by the thought that had he tackled Akram first, he might have shot the gunman and saved lives.

As Ahmed stood over Akram, pointing the rifle at him, Bitton said he yelled at him: “What the f**k are you doing? F**king shoot him or give me the gun. Do something. Shoot him!”

Before Ahmed could answer and before Bitton had a chance to take the gun from him, Bitton was shot.

“I just saw terrorists shooting people, no one was stopping it, I thought something needs to happen, and you just have to help,” he said.

“There was something going on with the gun so I started to run towards him. But in the middle of my running towards him, I saw this other guy, Ahmed Al Ahmed, run from the other direction, so he got to the father before me. And he took the gun.”

Like every Israeli, Bitton did compulsory service in the IDF and can expertly handle weapons.

Ahmed put the rifle down, leaning it against the palm tree, and backed away with his arms in the air, not wanting to hurt anyone.

Sajid retreated towards the bridge, where he would go on to fire another five shots into the Chanukah festival.

“I think all the time that if I was there before (Ahmed) and I had the gun, it would end differently,’ Bitton said.

“I would have done something else. I wouldn’t have just held the gun and put it on the grass. I would have shot [Sajid] and probably tried to shoot the son as well. I would have stopped this terrorist attack. But it didn’t happen, and I was on the floor.”

In the book, Bitton reveals there was also an extraordinary moment when Sajid Akram shooed Bitton away.

Trump: If Iran had nukes, it would have ‘blown up’ Israel, Middle East and parts of Europe

U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday defended his decision to go to war against Iran, saying that if the regime in Tehran acquired nuclear weapons, it would target Israel and the entire Middle East, as well as Europe.

“Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, it’s very simple,” Trump said.

“They were two weeks away from having a nuclear weapon, if they had it they would have blown up Israel, they would have blown up the Middle East, and they would have hit [some of] Europe’s cities ... and they would have probably hit us too before we put out the fire,” he continued.

Trump said that the war would end “very soon,” probably “right after” the U.S. midterm elections in November.

The comments come amid intermittent U.S. retaliatory strikes on Iranian targets, including Tuesday’s destruction of five Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-linked crude oil tankers. The attacks came after the IRGC targeted a U.S. Navy warship with ballistic missiles twice over the previous two days, CENTCOM said on Wednesday.

The U.S. warship evaded both Iranian attacks and continued to patrol regional waters. No American personnel were injured, according to the statement.

Overnight Tuesday, Jordan’s air defenses intercepted 18 of 20 ballistic missiles fired from Iran toward the kingdom, with the remaining two falling in unpopulated areas and no casualties reported, a Jordanian army spokesperson told Amman’s official Petra News Agency.

The next day, the IRGC said it targeted 10 ships in the Strait of Hormuz, including two U.S. vessels and eight oil tankers, according to Tehran’s state-run IRNA news agency.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian taunted the Trump administration on Saturday, tweeting: “If Americans are warriors, let them face our valiant military forces.

“Why wage war on civilian infrastructure, food supplies, and livelihoods?” he wrote, referring to the U.S. naval blockade of Iran and accompanying economic sanctions. “Our people can’t be bullied into submission. Iran won’t surrender.”

Kushner calls Israel’s Doha strike ‘terrible,’ says US used fallout to push Gaza deal

Jared Kushner, US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and special adviser and one of the administration’s key figures in diplomacy surrounding the Gaza Strip, delivered sharp criticism over the weekend of Israel’s strikes in Doha, Qatar, last year, while also acknowledging that Washington used the international fallout from the attack to increase pressure on Israel and push it toward an agreement.

Speaking by video at a conference in Kyiv, Kushner described the Israeli operation bluntly.

“Israel did the strike in Doha, which was a terrible thing,” Kushner said. “And obviously, it was unsuccessful as a military operation. And that led to Israel being globally isolated.”

Kushner went further, saying the Trump administration saw a diplomatic opportunity in the crisis and used the new dynamic to push Israel toward a deal.

“We used that dynamic in order to push them into a deal that now today they’re quite happy with,” he said. “At the time, they were a little uncomfortable with kind of what we were pushing them to do," Kushner said.

In Kushner’s telling, the pressure ultimately paid off.

“Ultimately, it turned out to be great for them,” he said of Israel. “And it turned out to be great for the people of Gaza, because now we have a new government there.”

Kassy Akiva: Georgetown Gives Pro-Iran Apologists The Stage In New Lecture Series

Georgetown University is giving the stage to a slate of scholars and commentators whom critics accuse of advancing views favorable to the Islamic Iranian regime.

The university’s Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding is hosting a four-part Iran lecture series this fall featuring four speakers who will address authoritarianism in Iran, the country’s nuclear program, its grand strategy and U.S.-Iran relations, and the struggle for democracy.

The entire lineup has drawn criticism over the speakers’ ties to the National Iranian American Council (NIAC), an Iranian-American advocacy organization that has repeatedly pushed for diplomacy and accommodation with Tehran and opposed efforts to increase pressure on the Islamic Republic.

The organization was co-founded by Trita Parsi, who is scheduled to deliver Georgetown’s lecture on Iran’s “grand strategy” and U.S.-Iran relations.

Parsi has faced years of controversy over his advocacy on Iran, including a federal lawsuit against a journalist who accused him of advancing Tehran’s interests, correspondence with senior Iranian officials uncovered during discovery, and recent calls for the State Department to consider his deportation.

The series comes as the U.S.-Iran war enters its seventh month and as the Trump administration intensifies scrutiny of foreign nationals accused of ties to the Iranian regime.

Critics say Georgetown has effectively assembled a pro-Iran series from a single policy ecosystem while leaving out Iranian dissidents and other voices opposed to NIAC’s approach.

“Universities are supposed to be beacons of open inquiry and intellectual freedom,” Lawdan Bazargan, founder of Alliance Against Islamic Regime of Iran Apologists (AAIRIA), told The Daily Wire. “When they repeatedly amplify one narrow set of voices while excluding Iranians who challenge those narratives, they risk becoming vehicles for propaganda rather than places of genuine debate.”

“That should concern everyone, especially when these institutions are educating America’s future policymakers,” Bazargan added.

In a letter addressed to Georgetown President Eduardo M. Peñalver, AAIRIA stresses that it is not calling for the speakers to be silenced. Instead, the group argues that Georgetown’s responsibility is to have a “robust debate.”

At Dachau ovens, N. Carolina state house candidate says: ‘This is where Trump supporters belong’

A Democratic state legislative candidate in North Carolina posted a picture of herself in front of Dachau concentration camp ovens with a caption that reads “This is where Trump supporters belong,” Breitbart reported.

Shelly Headen posted photos of what she said was a family vacation at the Nazi site in Germany, where some 41,500 people were murdered during the Holocaust.

Headen is smiling at a memorial at the site, posing in front of ovens from the crematorium where the remains of Jews and others who died at the camp were burned.

She is running for a state House seat, opposed by incumbent Republican Rep. John Blust in a suburban district in the Greensboro/High Point area.

Headen, a certified public accountant and business owner, writes on her Facebook page that she is “running to restore human decency.”

She previously wrote that “I think our only hope is an attack on US soil, ... preferably Alabama, Louisiana ... where the stupid people are.”

She is documented as a suspect in a pair of domestic violence incidents involving her husband, according to law enforcement reports from 2024, which state that “personal weapons” were used.

Pink shares statement after post criticising Macklemore’s free Palestine speech

US pop star Pink has vowed to “keep speaking out” despite being “hurt” by backlash after reposting criticism of Macklemore’s speech calling to “free Palestine”.

Macklemore, 43, opened for Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey last week and told the audience he wanted people in Gaza and the West Bank to know they had not been forgotten amid the conflict with Israel.

His words sparked controversy, including a petition demanding he be removed from the remaining dates of the tour, and Pink reposted a message criticising his comments to her Instagram page.

The Grammy-winning singer, 47, did not initially share her own comments on the matter and has since shared a lengthy essay to her page on Friday night as she responded to the backlash her reposts have received.

Pink, born Alecia Beth Moore, explained the post she shared “said things in words I didn’t write” and acknowledged acting “cheap and fast” on social media.

“I’d rather be disagreed with for what I actually said than hated for what anybody else wrote, so let me say it,” she wrote.

“I was born a Jew. I didn’t pick it, and I’ve never hidden it.

“And this week a whole lot of people decided what I believe without asking me, without checking a single thing I’ve ever said or done, because a repost and the word ‘Jew’ were apparently enough to fill in the rest.”

The chart-topper stated she does not speak for Israel or for any Government and reiterated her 2023 stance that “Palestinians deserve a future that honours their humanity and their aspirations”.

Pink explained that what she was “reacting to” with her reposts was a costume previously worn by Macklemore featuring what she described as “a hooked nose, a black beard and a bowl cut”.

“But he apologised, and I let it go, because that’s what we do. We let it go,” she said.

“Then last weekend he stood in front of a stadium full of music-loving families, with violent images from a war on the screens, dedicated a song to the movement of his choice, and then took the mic to tell all of the Jews in the stadium that it wasn’t about them.

“You don’t get to decide that for us. That’s what prompted my repost.

Berlin woman attacked with broken glass bottle for wearing Star of David necklace, police say

The Berlin police opened an investigation on Saturday into a suspected antisemitic attack after a 43-year-old woman was targeted by two men who noticed the Star of David necklace she was wearing, directed antisemitic insults at her, and assaulted her with a broken glass bottle.

According to a police statement, the incident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. between Thursday and Friday on Torstrasse in the Mitte district of central Berlin. Two men, whose identities have not yet been determined, approached the woman after noticing the Star of David she was wearing.

They then hurled antisemitic insults at her, and at one point, one of them attacked her with a broken glass bottle.

Woman suffered cuts before suspects fled scene
The woman attempted to defend herself and suffered several cuts to one of her hands. The two suspects fled the scene following the attack.

Emergency responders treated her at the scene before taking her to a hospital for further care. Police did not provide further details at this stage regarding the woman’s condition or a description of the suspects.

The investigation has been transferred to the Berlin Criminal Police’s State Security Division, which handles offenses with political, extremist or antisemitic backgrounds. German authorities have not yet announced any arrests in the case.

The attack joins a long list of antisemitic incidents recorded in recent years in the German capital. According to Berlin authorities, 2,268 antisemitic offenses were recorded in the city in 2025, up 24.3% from the previous year. Sixty-four of the cases were classified as violent offenses.

JK Rowling’s agent Neil Blair leads fightback against the boycotters with new imprint to promote Jewish and Israeli books

JK Rowling’s agent Neil Blair is spearheading a literary fightback against the wave of post-October 7 censorship with the launch of a new international publishing venture to promote Jewish and Israeli authors.

The JW3 trustee has founded High Line Publishing Studio, which will work across New York and London with two inaugural imprints, Odessa Books and Antidote Books.

High Line’s advisory board includes Lee Child, author of the Jack Reacher series.

Odessa Books, which is named after the Ukrainian city which was a centre of Jewish intellectual life pre-Second World War and is led by executive publisher Jacky Klein, will provide a home for Jewish and Israeli writing.

Antidote Books, which is being run by former HarperCollins UK executive Joel Simon, will focus on “ambitious, idea-driven books that meaningfully shape public conversation”, High Line said.

In 2024, Blair told a JC event in London that censorship of Jewish-themed books or of Israeli authors had “accelerated” since October 7.

He said at the time: “The people doing the censoring are not stupid. They’re not going to get back to me or any other agent and say they declined because the author is Jewish. They’d lose their job. It’s much more subtle than that.”

On the launch of High Line, he said: "I've spent my career working alongside extraordinary writers who are unafraid to challenge assumptions or push the boundaries of our thinking with incredible storytelling.

“The opportunity to build a publisher that combines serious commercial ambition with a genuine commitment to creative freedom was not just exciting, but something I felt was truly needed in the publishing sector.

“That is why High Line exists: to champion distinctive voices, publish exceptional books, and connect them with the broadest possible readership.”

The two imprints are due to publish their first books early next year. How an Israeli workplace productivity company wound up on the front lines of quake relief

In June, twin earthquakes toppled dozens of apartment buildings in Venezuela, killing thousands, burying survivors in rubble and prompting mass evacuations across a swath of the country.

Six weeks later, on August 10, a powerful temblor originating 66 miles beneath the earth’s surface rocked neighboring Colombia, killing more than 300. Plumes of dust rose into the sky as buildings collapsed and residents sought refuge on city streets.

As with most natural disasters, a range of groups was involved in the responses to the earthquakes, from domestic governmental agencies to foreign missions and NGOs.

One delegation to both disasters did not fit the typical mold, though – members of a foundation run by the Israeli tech company Monday.com, a publicly traded software firm that provides work management platforms and AI services to businesses.

The Monday.com Foundation’s Emergency Response Team dispatches personnel to disaster zones, where they leverage the firm’s technology to help first responders deal with the chaos that follows catastrophes like earthquakes.

The team is an example of a for-profit company filling in technological gaps in the nonprofit sector and sidestepping some of the political tensions in disaster relief for countries like Israel, even if private sector interference can sometimes create issues in emergencies.

“When we arrive in the field, we try to understand what’s going on, how the organization is responding to the disaster, and what are their pain points,” said Myriam Kuperman, who heads the Emergency Response Team. “Usually these organizations know best which challenges they have.”

Israel celebrates first Rosh Hashanah in three years without hostages in Gaza

Israeli Jews ushered in Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, at sunset on Friday, the first in three years without any hostages in Gaza or major fighting in the Strip or elsewhere, though conflicts on several fronts remain on a low boil, and the military was on alert in case of escalation in the war with Iran.

“Last Rosh Hashanah eve, we asked for a better year to come. But before any other requests, there was one simple, clear request above all: that all of our hostages would come home,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a video published to his personal X account.

It was shortly after the Jewish New Year in 2025 that the US-brokered ceasefire deal secured the return home of the last 20 living hostages whom the Hamas terror group abducted in its October 7, 2023, invasion of Israel, and held captive in the Strip.

Netanyahu, with uplifting music in the background, surveyed Israel’s military accomplishments over the last year, declaring: “Do you know another nation that fights on seven fronts and wins on all of them?” – though the claim was sure to come under scrutiny, as Israel has not secured the promised “total victory” on its major fronts in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran.

Netanyahu’s boast also comes as Israel heads into an election next month, with the prime minister’s role in the failures of October 7 a key issue.

On Thursday, it was reported that Israel was preparing to counter the possibility of Iranian ballistic missile fire, as the Islamic Republic’s persistent attacks against Jordan and the success of the US economic blockade against Iran were both seen to point toward a potential escalation.

However, there was no concrete warning or specific plot uncovered ahead of the holiday.

Much of the reporting relies on a United Nations database treated as a running scoreboard of settler crimes.

A 2025 study by Israeli security expert Gabi Siboni compared the UN’s count of roughly 1,800 settler-related incidents with Israeli law enforcement’s numbers for the same period.

Police opened 967 investigations; 61 led to indictments.

The Kohelet Policy Forum, examining an earlier version of the UN data, found it included confrontations with Israeli security forces and events involving no violence at all.

We saw the same rush to judgment last year when Jews were accused of torching a 5th-century church in the Christian village of Taybeh.

There was a fire nearby, but the church wasn’t touched. Israeli investigators found no damage, while video showed young Jewish men from a neighboring farm running toward the flames with firefighting equipment.

The fire was real, but the story built on top of it wasn’t.

So, yes, condemn violence and hooliganism. Arrest the perpetrators. Prosecute them.

But don’t turn the crimes of a few into an indictment of hundreds of thousands of Jews while treating vastly more numerous Palestinian attacks against those Jews as background noise.

False narratives have consequences.

Britain says its new policy isn’t a boycott of Israel, only of Jews and businesses in Judea and Samaria. So Jews can live and do business in certain places but not in others.

We’ve seen that in the past. That’s called a ghetto.

Florida Rep. Randy Fine has already warned that British companies complying with such a boycott could themselves face exclusion under Florida’s anti-boycott law.

Other states and the federal government should follow suit.

Europe has a long and ugly history of deciding where Jews may live and with whom people may do business.

Before Britain and its neighbors head down that road again, they ought to check both their own history and their facts.

American lawmakers ought to make them.

Hamas planned Berlin-Vienna attacks for Oct. 7 anniversary, indictment shows

Hamas planned coordinated terrorist attacks in Berlin and Vienna to mark the second anniversary of the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel, according to a 214-page indictment filed by Germany’s federal prosecutor.

The attacks were to take place simultaneously or in close succession around Oct. 7, 2025, targeting Israeli and Jewish interests in the two European capitals, according to the indictment, obtained by WELT, which — like POLITICO — is part of the Axel Springer Global Network.

The plot was supported by an international weapons-procurement network that moved pistols, an automatic rifle and hundreds of rounds of ammunition through Denmark, Germany and Austria.

Federal prosecutors said last year that they had arrested men linked to the Palestinian militant group who were suspected of planning attacks on Israeli and Jewish targets in Germany. The indictment, which has not been made public, reveals that Vienna was also an intended target — and that the attacks in the two capitals were to be coordinated. The principal targets included Israeli diplomats, Jewish community centers and pro-Israel demonstrations.

Seven men have been charged in connection with the plot and remain in pretrial detention, according to the indictment. One of the accused was working as a confidential informant for Germany’s domestic intelligence agency. The files show that the informant continued reporting to his intelligence handler while allegedly failing to disclose the full extent of his own involvement in obtaining ammunition for the group.

The indictment portrays the plot as part of a broader shift in Hamas’ operations in Europe. Intelligence assessments cited in the filing say plans existed even before the Oct. 7, 2023 attack to establish and train operational cells on the continent, using Turkey as a base and directing attacks remotely from abroad.

My starting point would be this, Mohsen: if you really want to convince people that Mohsen Mahdawi is not an antisemite, it was probably not advisable to jump straight into an antisemitic conspiracy rabbit hole on social media when our research exposed your extremism. Instead of owning up to it, or even denying it (which would be a little silly as we have all the receipts), you actually chose to claim that “Israeli Mossad” broke into your Facebook:

Do you realise how stupid that looks, Mohsen? I am pretty certain that even for some of your staunchest supporters, that was a head-in-hands moment. Every sane person on the planet knows the Israeli Mossad did not do a thing. Nobody “broke into your Facebook,” and nothing was “fabricated.”

Get out of your antisemitic rabbit hole, and let me explain it to you.

Last April, a couple of independent Jewish journalists decided to test your back-story and found that things did not add up.

Take, for example, the story you tell about your uncle visiting you by the grave of your “best friend,” who you claim had recently been shot. We checked the chronology. Your uncle died in September 2001. The only child from your camp who was killed during the Second Intifada died in 2002 (more on that in a moment). Unless your uncle Thaer was a ghost, that creates a rather impossible scenario.

Why would you lie? Who knows. Perhaps you wanted people to feel sorry for you. Maybe it was an attempt to create legitimacy. Whatever the reason, that story – which you have repeated hundreds of times – simply never happened the way you tell it.

So it got us thinking. What else were you telling people that was not true?

It did not take long to discover that the only child in your camp who was killed died from gas inhalation – not a bullet. Which meant your entire redemption story – of seeing your best friend shot in the chest by an Israeli soldier and holding his blood-soaked body in your arms – had collapsed before our eyes in a matter of minutes.

But enough of that for now.

UKLFI: Natasha Hausdorff says Britain’s Israel Trade Ban Is “Discrimination Against Jews”

Britain’s confrontation with Israel has dramatically escalated after Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband announced plans to ban goods from Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria, restrict services connected with those communities and prohibit the advertising of property there.

Miliband has also declared it the British Government’s official position that Israel’s presence in the territories is unlawful and accused Israelis of carrying out “ethnic cleansing”.

In this UKLFI Charitable Trust interview, international lawyer Natasha Hausdorff challenges the factual and legal basis of those claims and examines what Britain’s new policy could mean for Israel, the UK and their wider relationship.

Hausdorff argues that the Government has misrepresented the significance of the ICJ’s 2024 advisory opinion and asks whether measures supposedly introduced in defence of international law could themselves conflict with Britain’s obligations under international trade agreements.

She also examines Israel’s swift response, including the closure of the British Consulate in Jerusalem and the removal of Britain from areas of regional involvement, and argues that the UK Government has reduced rather than increased British influence.

The discussion considers warnings that US anti-boycott laws could create serious problems for British and American businesses, the importance of Israeli intelligence, security and pharmaceutical cooperation to Britain, and the potential impact of the measures on Palestinians employed by Israeli businesses.

Hausdorff concludes by addressing whether the measures discriminate against Jews and why she believes Britain is applying standards to Israel that it does not apply to other territorial disputes.

Signaling support for UK sanctions, Olmert decries ‘ethnic cleansing’ in West Bank

Former prime minister Ehud Olmert on Thursday signaled support for Britain’s decision to sanction all dealings with settlements in the West Bank, where he denounced the extremist settlers and their backers as a “group of murderous criminal terrorists” seeking to ethnically cleanse Palestinians.

Speaking with Radio 103FM, Olmert doubled down on his assessment that there was “a violent and criminal effort to ethnically cleanse territories in the West Bank” taking place, which British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband quoted when announcing the decision this week.

“What is happening in [the West Bank] is no less than attempted ethnic cleansing by a group of murderous criminal terrorists who systemically act on a near-daily basis to harm, steal, destroy, burn and kill Palestinians who live there, as part of an effort to expel them from their places of residence in the hope of it leading the State of Israel to be able to annex the territories,” Olmert said.

According to Olmert, the violence is carried out by “hundreds of people who receive support from thousands within the system,” with the perpetrators frequently receiving “active assistance” from the army, law enforcement and government ministers.

Olmert charged that “of course” ultranationalist ministers Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich “symbolize this brutal policy, probably more than anyone else, but others share in it.” He also accused Israeli security forces of acting discriminately, citing Defense Minister Israel Katz’s decision to stop signing off on administrative detention orders against Jews, which allows Israeli authorities to hold a suspect without charge.

The former prime minister warned that due to Israel’s policies in the West Bank, where the military is sovereign, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir could be exposed to an international arrest warrant.

“They see everything but do nothing because they represent policies that in practice support these terrible things,” Olmert said, referring to senior military commanders. “It’s tough for the chief of staff, but at some point… he will unjustly become a target for the International Criminal Court in The Hague, because formally he’s the sovereign on the ground.”

Inside the lion’s den: Israel is quietly regaining respect at the UN, Danny Danon tells 'Post'

When Danny Danon returned to New York two years ago for his second stint as Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, he described the organization as a far more ferocious lion’s den than the one he had left four years earlier.

Danon borrowed the image from the title of his 2022 memoir, In the Lion’s Den, itself a nod to his biblical namesake, Daniel. But the UN he reentered after October 7 bore little resemblance even to the inhospitable institution in which he served from 2015 to 2020 – a period that, from the vantage point of the Gaza war, looked almost like a diplomatic golden age.

The atmosphere Danon returned to in 2024 was extraordinarily hostile. Israel’s enemies were highly motivated, its allies exhausted, and ambassadors who had once met him regularly reluctant to be seen with him publicly.

Two years later, the lions have not exactly become lambs. Yet Danon, in an interview with The Jerusalem Post ahead of this month’s UN General Assembly gathering, sounded a surprising note: Things are getting better.

“When I came back after October 7, I was shocked by the level of hostility and the hatred – the isolation,” he said. “I think now the situation is improving.”

Improving is, of course, a relative term at the UN when it comes to Israel. The automatic majorities have not disappeared, nor have traditional friends necessarily returned to their former positions. Canada and Australia, whose diplomats he worked closely with during his first term, remain, in his understated words, “problematic.” Britain – as it proved this week with its boycott of settlement products and accusations of “ethnic cleansing” – has moved in the wrong direction.

IDF rejects testimonies in Israeli-made documentary about AI-powered killing in Gaza

The Israeli military said Friday it “categorically rejects” allegations made in a new documentary by Israeli filmmakers about Israel’s AI-powered mass killing of civilians in Gaza, which received a 25-minute ovation at its premiere in Venice the day before.

The Israeli-made film “NAZA” uses conversations with 24 different Israeli military or intelligence whistleblowers who spoke on condition that their identities be protected, with interviewees describing how they felt like they worked in a killing “factory” or a lethal video game.

The 80-minute documentary comes from Oscar-winning Israeli filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, with Abraham telling AFP the goal was to “hear in as much detail as possible, how the systems of killing in Gaza looked like, how they operated.”

“NAZA” draws its name from a Hebrew acronym meaning collateral damage.

The Israeli military on Friday criticized the use of anonymous testimonies in the film, saying the identities of the whistleblowers “cannot be verified,” including whether they served in the military or in what capacity.

“The excerpts cited include claims regarding national and military strategy that are clearly beyond the knowledge of junior-level soldiers,” it added in a statement. In the documentary, the men and women featured in “NAZA,” speaking on the nighttime rooftops of Tel Aviv with their voices and faces digitally altered, detail an AI-powered system known as “Lavender” that was allegedly used to identify people to be targeted.

“Lavender” reportedly uses data from the mass surveillance of Gaza, where the entire telecommunications network is monitored by Israel, to identify targets based on their phone calls, movements and interactions.

Yesterday, a film accusing Israel of genocide premiered.

It’s a horrific blood libel against our sons and daughters. What makes it especially painful and infuriating is that this lie comes from Israeli filmmakers and is now being spread around the world.

Albany County Dems disavow Young Democrats’ Gaza ‘genocide’ claim

The Albany County Democratic Committee distanced itself from a statement in which the Albany County Young Democrats accused Israel of committing “genocide” in Gaza and called for an end to U.S. military aid to Israel.

The executive board of the Young Democrats said on Sept. 3 that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government “committed a genocide in Gaza and gross violations of international law against the Palestinian people.”

The group said that it stood “firmly in solidarity with young Democrats across America in fighting for the Palestinian people” and opposed what it said is the “genocide in Gaza” and “occupation of the West Bank.”

Some groups and governments refer to Judea and Samaria as the “West Bank.”

The Young Democrats also said that giving the Jewish state a “blank check” in billions of dollars in U.S. military aid “has to stop.” The group did not mention the Oct. 7 attacks—the bloodiest day in Jewish history since the Holocaust.

The statement drew criticism from other New York Democrats, including Jay Jacobs, chair of the state party, who said that accusing Israel of “genocide,” as the group had, made it an “outlier” in the party.

Some members of Congress, including members of the so-called “Squad,” have made that accusation, as have some senators.

Jake Crawford, chairman of the Albany County Democratic Committee, stated that the county party “did not issue and strongly opposes” the Young Democrats’ statement. The group is “not currently chartered by the Albany County Democratic Committee and has no affiliation with us.”

“We believe in the politics of addition, not subtraction, and we will not be a party to discrimination against, or scapegoating of any group, period,” Crawford stated.

Board questions church event for children by groups with members who support Palestine Action

The Board of Deputies and London Jewish Forum have written to a church in Croydon questioning why it is being used for an event aimed at young children hosted by groups who have had members arrested for their support for a proscribed terrorist organisation.

St John the Evangelist Church in Croydon, which describes itself as “offering a welcoming space for spiritual growth and connection, is hosting “Palestine at the Palace” tomorrow, a “kids culture day” organised by the Crystal Palace Friends of Palestine and the Croydon Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

The letter, addressed to the Canon of the Church, comes from Judith Prinsley, Vice Chair of Security, Resilience, and Cohesion (SRC) Division at the Board of Deputies, and Amanda Bowman Co-Chair of the London Jewish Forum.

“Prominent members of both the Crystal Palace Friends of Palestine and Croydon Palestine Solidarity Campaign have previously been arrested under the Terrorism Act for expressing support for the group Palestine Action”, the letter says.

“This group was described by Lady Chief Justice Baroness Carr in her court ruling in June 2026 as a group that ‘overtly promotes unlawful violence amounting to terrorism’. Additionally, the Rt Hon Steve Reed MP made a police complaint following a protest outside his home involving two activists from these groups. They were subsequently questioned by police, but no further action was taken.

“These are campaigning organisations with strongly partisan positions on the conflict in the Middle East. We do not believe that organisations with this record are appropriate parties to educate children about such a complex and sensitive conflict, particularly in a church setting intended to serve the wider community.”

The letter goes on to ask: “given the public positions and campaigning activity of the groups involved, we would like to understand how you assessed their suitability to run activities for children in your church, and how you judged their involvement to be compatible with the Church’s commitment to peace and community cohesion.

Churchill statue ‘vandal’ tells court he is proud of pro-Palestine protest

Olax Outis, who is also known as Caspar San Giorgi, climbed on to the statue in Parliament Square, central London, wearing a red boiler suit emblazoned with the words “I support Palestine Action”.

He is accused of causing more than £7,000 of damage by using red spray paint to cover the statue with phrases including “Stop the Genocide” and “Free Palestine”, describing Churchill as a “Zionist war criminal”, and calling for former prime minister Sir Keir Starmer to stand trial for war crimes.

Giving evidence, San Giorgi, 39, said he did not consider his actions to be either criminal or have caused damage to the statue and its plinth.

He told Southwark Crown Court: “I don’t really care about the financials involved – it’s a non-issue for me. It was never my intention to cause much financial damage or anything.

“It was about a message to Parliament which I have delivered.”

Representing himself in court, San Giorgi told jurors: “Whether you convict me or not is not too much of a concern for me.

“Whether I get acquitted, deported, imprisoned for years, I can be proud of having spoken about injustice and I have accounted for my actions.

“I will accept your judgment.”

The court has heard San Giorgi went to Parliament Square just before 4am on February 27, carrying cans of spray paint and a ladder to climb the plinth.

He removed his coat to reveal a red boiler suit with the words “I support Palestine Action” on the back, and “set about defacing the statue – spraying… the words Free Palestine and red triangles on the front, and Never Again Is Now on the rear,” said prosecutor Peter Ratliff.

Most Middle East scholars say U.S. academia has lost its way since 9/11, survey finds

A new survey of 470 Middle East scholars finds that nearly three-quarters believe American academia is less equipped to pursue truth than it was at the time of the 9/11 attacks, while two-thirds lack confidence that their students understand the attacks and say American academia has provided cover for ideologies, regimes or groups hostile to the United States.

The findings, released this week by the Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa ahead of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, reflect what ASMEA’s executive director, Asaf Romirowsky, described as a broader failure by American universities to maintain objectivity and intellectual rigor in the quarter century since the attacks.

“American universities have allowed their Middle East scholars to abandon any pretense of objectivity, exchanging the free and unfettered pursuit of ideas for an increasingly dogmatic worldview that praises and supports not America but its deadliest opponents and their murderous ideologies,” Romirowsky told Jewish Insider.

The survey, conducted Aug. 6-28, found that 71% of respondents believe American academia is either “much worse equipped” or “somewhat worse equipped” today than it was 25 years ago to pursue truth-seeking as its central mission.

Romirowsky said the findings were particularly notable because they cut across different types of institutions and levels of seniority, “from public and private universities alike, from junior faculty to professors emeritus.”

The survey also asked scholars about their students’ understanding of 9/11. Sixty-six percent either strongly or somewhat disagreed with the statement that they were confident their current students had a firm understanding of the events leading up to the attacks and could correctly identify the core reasons for the attack and its perpetrators.

For Romirowsky, the findings are particularly concerning given the role Middle East scholars were expected to play in helping Americans and policymakers understand the region after 9/11.

Jewish billionaire resumes $100 million Harvard gift after campus Jew-hatred concerns

Stuart Zimmer, a Jewish billionaire investor, agreed in June to resume funding a $100 million gift to Harvard University that he had paused after Oct. 7, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

Zimmer and his wife, Jennifer Zimmer, pledged the gift in 2018. But after the Hamas-led terrorist attacks in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, Zimmer, 57, became “appalled” by Harvard’s response to the attacks and “troubled” by what he viewed as the ensuing rise in antisemitism on campus, according to the outlet.

He also expressed concern about the rise of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and reports of a decline in the number of Jewish undergraduates at Harvard. One of his daughters was a Harvard student at the time, the newspaper reported.

Harvard President Alan Garber, who is Jewish, had been “courting” Zimmer for about two years when the two met during Harvard’s reunion festivities in June, the Journal reported. The meeting led to an agreement for Zimmer to resume funding the gift.

As part of the arrangement, Harvard announced that its Science Center would be renamed Zimmer Hall in honor of Zimmer’s late father, Alan Zimmer, a neuroradiologist whose work helped advance the development and use of computer axial tomography and magnetic resonance imaging in the United States. The gift will also expand kosher dining options on campus, including at Eliot House after its renovation.

Zimmer also received assurances that Harvard would continue recruiting at Jewish day schools “to the extent it could in the post-affirmative action legal landscape,” the Journal reported.

Brandeis Center urges Qatar to provide ‘complete public accounting’ of campus funding

The Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law wrote to Qatari Ambassador to the U.S. Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad al-Thani on Wednesday amid a back-and-forth online, urging the Qatari Embassy to release a full public accounting of its funding to U.S. colleges and universities.

“There is a straightforward way for the Government of Qatar to demonstrate that public accounts of its activities are inaccurate or misleading: full disclosure,” Brandeis Center CEO Kenneth Marcus said in a letter to Al-Thani. “We therefore respectfully ask Qatar to provide a complete public accounting, to the people and the Congress of the United States, of the funding and other financial support that its government, the Qatar Foundation, and other Qatari governmental or government-controlled entities have provided to U.S. colleges and universities.”

Marcus urged that such a disclosure “should identify the recipients and amounts, disclose the agreements governing the funds, and explain what Qatar expected or received in return for its largesse. Marcus argued that a public disclosure would “serve Qatar’s stated interest in correcting purported misinformation” and allow Congress, the administration, schools and the public to assess the relationships based on firsthand information.

“Qatar has described its support for U.S. higher education as beneficial to both countries,” Marcus said. “If that is so, complete transparency should strengthen Qatar’s position. If particular public allegations are false, the documents will demonstrate that fact.”

Fauda hits No.1 on Netflix in Lebanon and reaches top ten in several Arab countries

Israeli television drama Fauda has become the most-watched show on Netflix in Lebanon and broken into the platform’s top ten in several other Arab and Muslim countries, despite its latest season centred on the Hamas-led October 7 attacks.

The fifth season of the hit series climbed to number one in Lebanon just two days after its international release on Netflix on September 8, according to streaming rankings compiled by FlixPatrol.

Elsewhere in the region, it ranks sixth in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, eighth in Bahrain and Qatar, ninth in Egypt, and tenth in Turkey, Morocco and Oman.

The show, which follows an elite Israeli undercover counter-terrorism unit, has also broken into Netflix’s top ten in dozens of countries worldwide.

The success is particularly striking given the subject matter of the new season, which is the first to have been made since the October 7 attacks.

The series includes a two-part flashback depicting the Hamas assault, accompanied by a viewer warning because of the nature of the scenes.

Season five follows Doron Kavillio, played by co-creator Lior Raz, as he struggles with trauma following October 7 and becomes embroiled in a revenge mission that develops into a dangerous undercover operation in Marseille.

Co-creator Avi Issacharoff has said the new season seeks to explore questions about revenge and the cycle of violence following October 7.

“Is the revenge worth it? Is continuing this very endless cycle of bloodshed [worth it]?” he told Netflix ahead of the international launch.

Rachel Rabin, sister of slain PM Yitzhak Rabin and prominent Kibbutz educator, dies at 101

Rachel Rabin Yaakov, the sister of slain prime minister Yitzhak Rabin and founding member and secretary of Kibbutz Manara, on Israel’s northern edge, died on Friday at age 101.

Rabin was among the pioneers of Kibbutz Manara along the border with Lebanon in 1943, where she remained a resident until she was forced to leave following the outbreak of fighting with Lebanon after the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led massacre in southern Israel.

President Isaac Herzog paid tribute to Rabin, saying, “I was saddened to hear of her passing, at the ripe old age; dear Rachel Rabin Yaakov, whose long and impressive life journey was a model of education and public service.”

She was born in Tel Aviv in 1925 to Nehemiah Rabin and Rosa Cohen. Her father worked for the Israel Electric Corporation and her mother, known as “Red Rosa,” worked at a Loan and Savings Bank and was a prominent activist who held senior positions in the Haganah, the paramilitary organization during the British Mandate period, as well as the Histadrut, Labor Federation and in the education system.

In an interview in 2015 with the English-language podcast Israel Story, Rabin recalled her childhood, saying, “Our parents were always very busy, so we were alone a lot of the time. And somehow Yitzhak always felt that he was responsible for me. That he needed to take care of me. To protect me. And that’s how I felt. Till his last day, really, I felt he was protecting me, even from afar.”

Her mother died when Rabin was 12.

She took a very different path from her brother Yitzhak, who would become prime minister twice, from 1974 to 1977 and later in 1992 until his assassination in 1995. While he became a soldier in the Palmach — the pre-state defense force and precursor to the IDF — and fought in the War of Independence in 1948, Rachel Rabin went on to establish a kibbutz with a group from the Noar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement in 1943.

Rabin spoke about being a kibbutz pioneer in an extensive interview in the Davar publication in 2021, saying of Manara: “I’ve been here since day one, January 1943. It was a mountain of ice and rocks, with chill that penetrated to the bone. We lived in tents.”

President Isaac Herzog: The sound of the shofar brings us together in reflection, pride, and renewed commitment to each other

Sisters and brothers, from the President's Residence in Jerusalem, I wish the Jewish people around the world a Shana Tovah, a very happy New Year.

The defining sound of Rosh Hashanah is the shofar, capturing the full spectrum of emotions we feel on the High Holidays. It is a call our people have sounded for generations, asking for forgiveness and to be written and inscribed in the Book of Life. It is, as our tradition teaches us, a call back to ourselves, urging us to refocus our lives and our goals.

Most poignantly, the piercing cry of the shofar carries pain: the pain of those we have lost, those who defended our only Jewish state, those who are victims of terror within our borders, and those who are victims of the tide of antisemitism around the world. Dear sisters and brothers, this is the feeling we share in our hearts and souls, wherever we live.

Yet the long, majestic notes of the shofar carry three further calls, answers to that anguish. The first is pride. The shofar proclaims: we are here, we are strong, we are Jews, and we are Israelis, and we are very proud. I see that pride in Jewish communities around the world, wherever I go, and in the many who visit us here in Jerusalem.

I am especially inspired by the young Jews I meet, whose sense of responsibility and love for our people is our greatest answer to the hatred of our enemies. It is reflected, too, in the millions of friends that Israel and the Jewish people have all around the world, in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and far beyond.

Second, more than a show of pride, the shofar is also a stirring call to action. It is a call to keep making the world a better place, embracing tikkun olam, especially during these very difficult times. It is a call to tackle the biggest challenges facing our people's future. This is what Voice of the People, the initiative and council I founded, representing all parts of Israel and the Jewish world, is focused on, with a new cohort beginning this autumn.

And finally, the shofar calls us to listen: not just to it, but to each other, and in doing so, to respect one another. For Israelis, as we debate our country's future ahead of next month's elections, and for Jews in the diaspora watching closely, this is a call we must all heed.

So, sisters and brothers, the sound of the shofar transcends language, time, and place. It brings our people, our great Jewish family, together on Rosh Hashanah for a moment of reflection, pride, and renewed commitment to our faith, to each other, and to the world.

The great Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, of blessed memory, once said that the shofar reminds us of our ultimate destination, telling us how far we still have to go. The Jewish people and the State of Israel have always known our destination and the journey we are on. As we move into the new year, may we all continue this journey together, and may we all be inscribed in the Book of Life for a year of blessing, harmony, and peace.
