My Top 5 Favourite Cities

For the past 2 years I have been away from this blog. I have been busy with work. New life, new job, new friends, new places, new New. Well, now that it's not that New anymore, it's time to look back, reflect and see what have I gained, lose, sacrificed, experienced, and blessed with.

Today, I feel like writing about some of my favourite cities I've been to in the past 2 years. Even though there's tonnes of them, but I've come down to 5 of them which are the Top Favourites of mine. The Top 5 cities that I would love to revisit any time of my life.

1. New York

That's right. The Big Apple. Living there could be an entirely different experience, but visiting for holiday is absolutely amazing. The crazy city vibes, it's got everything. It's a place where being there, you feel like anything is "possible". Due to intense competition, the city is filled with great restaurants with all types of cuisines, variety of bars and clubs, etc. There's also so much to do such as watching a play, musical theatre, comedy shows, music gigs, and tonnes of street performances. It has always been a place that I wanted to visit, so I was there last year on my birthday, and went up to the Empire State Observatory Deck at night. Great view of the concrete jungle. 2. Paris

Though there's bad comments bout the city because it's dirty, tonnes of pick pockets and snatchers, or even "rudeness", my experiences in Paris was pretty good. And I would love to keep it that way. Visited during winter time, so it was freezing cold. But nothing stops the people from flocking into the city of fashion, or love? Either one, it was onion soup, coffee, nutella crepes, desserts and art for me. Cheers to that! Below are the Eiffel Tower, delicious crepe stall and Laduree.

3. Seoul

Seoul is a food haven. It is mind-blowing and mouth-watering at the same time. Just imagine how you gonna look like if that happens. One word, retarded. So I was food-retarded for the one whole week during my stay in Seoul. The spicy soups and bbq meat are such a healthy combination because even though we stuffed ourselves every meal like a yellow bear with red T and no pants? (winnie the pooh), we didn't gain much weight. Thus, we kept our pants on. Well of course, we also walked a lot, and drink a lot. Of tea. *chuckles* Beautiful and lovely city.

4. Tokyo

I guess Japan is one of the places we all love to visit at least once in our lifetime. A country with lots of strong and deep cultures going on. Having a childhood where part of me grew up watching Japanese animes and dramas, playing video games, listening to JRock, reading comic books and fashion magazines, and eating sushi and sashimi (lol, lame), it was a pleasure to finally get the chance to see Japan with my own eyes, and of course, eat some real sushi and sashimi! (now that's for real). Below are the famous Shibuya Crossing, amazing smoked fatty tuna, and Tokyo Tower at night.

5. Rio de Janeiro

Sometimes when you get too much of the same thing, you get sick of it too (I'm talking buildings here). When escaping from skycrapers and humans, you find nature as your best friend. Rio was categorized as one of my adventurous trip because I had my first hang gliding experience there (and the one and only hang gliding experience actually). Jumping from the cliffs high up in the mid of the mountain, it took away my heartbeat for as long as I can remember and gave it back to me eventually. Overlooking the beaches from the top, but too far to see the Christ statue, gliding and circling the mountains, it's the real life national geographic, Live, with my own eyes. I remembered seeing two different kinds of bird flying around and kissing with each other. Rio is just beautiful, with the perfect beaches, great Caipirinha drinks, never ending Brazilian BBQs (all types of juicy meat kept coming till you scream), the Christ statue, the mountains, the sky, and the sun. What else? There's always something else. But I'm gonna leave that out. *wink

Hope you enjoy reading one of my thoughts again after 2 years of absent and a little insight of my travel experiences.

Corcovado

There's a statue of Jesus (Cristo Redentor). Up here you can find beautiful views of Rio and there's also some souvenir shops along the way up to the peak selling all kinds of gifts from postcards, magnets to pendants and necklaces, etc.

Sugarloaf Mountain

Beaches
Copacabana/Ipanema beaches. You can also find bikinis and Havaianas selling around the area.

Meat meat meat!!!

A place where you can find food and drinks, bars and clubs.

Casablanca is a beautiful place and their main languages are Arabic and French. Nevertheless, English is applicable as well. There are a few places to visit and things to do in Casablanca.

La Coniche Beach

Hassan Mosque II

Largest mosque in the country and 7th largest in the world.

Habous Souk

Rick's Cafe

Beautiful piano bar/restaurant with classic architectural and interior decorations. They have a really good jazz band and sometimes people would request As Time Goes By - Casablanca movie to be played.

Argan Oil

One of the thing to buy from Casablanca is their Argan Oil. It's famous as cosmetic product that is good for Hair, Face, Skin and Health. It is also widely known for anti-aging, prevents wrinkles on face, promotes healthy scalp and shiny hair. It can also be used for cooking and as salad dressing.

Lager Beer
Sweet and smooth beer with a fruity and floral palate.

Moroccan Mint Tea
Last but not least, the Moroccan Tea is a MUST TRY.

I loved Brisbane. The weather forecast was like 10-15'c and I thought it was a bit chilly however the weather was great, hot and sunny with beautiful bright blue sky.

In Brisbane, we can find a lot of Asian Restaurants, especially Korean and Japanese food. LOVED IT.

There's an Art Gallery over the bridge. However I didn't manage to take a tour inside. Maybe next time, if possible. ;)

Birmingham was raining, cold and windy when I arrived. Visited Bullring, which is one of the place to be in Birmingham. There is also another place for shopping which is called Primark. However I didn't manage to go there as I only have 24hours, and I'd just forgotten bout that. ;)

The Mailbox is on the other side which is within walking distance. Inside there's a few boutique shops and behind is the Canalside Walk. Basically you can do eating, drinking and shopping too at The Mailbox.

They have bars and restaurants along the Canalside Walk. It is a beautiful place to chill.

Found a Cathedral nearby Bullring.

Visited the Museum Gallery eventually.

I have always wanted to visit the pyramids in Cairo unfortunately it is only a turnaround flight from Dubai. However, it doesn't mean I can't see the pyramids from the top! SNAPSHOT. :)

If you are looking for a delicious desert to satisfy your sweet tooth and nice place to chill, Bloomingdales in The Dubai Mall provides a fancy selection of cakes and pastries. Today we've tried the Chocolate Cake and the Blueberry Cake.

This is a really thick and neat chocolate cake. The icing is superb. The sponge might be a bit dry.

The blueberry cake is seriously delicious as you can see from the picture below. It reminds me of my childhood birthday as I always had blueberry cake. Loved it! Must try!

Wikipedia on SZR

According to WIKIPEDIA, Sheikh Zayed Road (SZR) in Dubai, UAE is where most popular buildings are located at such as Emirates Towers, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Metro, etc. Therefore, it is convenient as they literally have all necessities there and its a busy street!

Rumah Terbalik @ Tamparuli, Sabah

Seems like Kota Kinabalu is focusing a lot on its tourism lately! We have a Rumah Terbalik (The Upside Down House in Borneo) built at Tamparuli, Sabah! Opened to all visitors. Driving from KK to Tamparuli takes about 40 minutes to less than 1 hour. Depending what kinda speed you are driving of course, and traffic condition.

First thing we saw was this upside down Kancil car just right in front of the parking lot. I have no idea how they hold the weight up there. Tonnes of glue and nails?

And beside was an upside down house. That's where we'll be going inside later...

So we bought ourselves tickets at the counter. The staffs are real polite.

Below is the price for foreigners. Whereas for locals, charges are RM10 for adult. Great way to support our own tourism field.

There was a female guide that led us into the house. We were asked to hit that Gong 3 times and knock on the door before entering the house. Its a culture thing.

Before we entered the house, she told us there were 3 rules which we must abide to it.

(1) We are not allowed to touch the objects inside the house.

(2) We are only allowed to walk on the red carpet that's laid inside the house.

(3) We are NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE PICTURE INSIDE THE HOUSE. What?...

So what's inside there, you can only see it with your own eyes. It's pretty interesting.

Note : The whole tour took less than 10 minutes. As that was the ONLY house to be visited.

Minutes later, we were led to the souvenir shop....................................................

and THATS it. End of tour. True Story.

It is a very healthy act to support our own culture and tourism industry.

It was my first time on such "adult" roller coaster, after several moments ponding whether I should try, I decided to switch into "do not hesitate" mode. So I took the Cylon Ride.

There are 2 kinds of ride, one is Human and the other is Cylon. The difference of these two rides was that, for Cylon ride, your legs would be hanging in the air without a platform and the Human ride would be the opposite of it where you can lay your feet on a platform. In a way, you feel more secured.

I would say, 'hmm......... ....... mmmmmm............................... can try'.

Pura Tanah Lot (Tanah Lot Temple) is one of the popular tourism spot in Bali, Indonesia. If you're on a tour package, most probably this place will be included in your itinerary. Wonderful sceneries, monkeys everywhere, structural hills and beautiful sea. On the day upon arrival, there's a celebration/worshiping session conducted by the Balinese people. Not sure if it is an occasional or weekly event. However, their effort in dressing themselves beautifully and carrying the accessories under the hot sun simply gained the respect. It was an amazing experience.

Everybody wants to be successful in their lives. They have their own definition of being successful. But some might be still in search of the answer to what defines success in life. How do you define Success? When you set yourself some goals, and once you achieved them, you called it Success. And how do you feel when you achieved Success? Happiness. Therefore, Success = Happiness.

I used to ask some of my friends, what are the goals in their lives and what do they want to achieve in life to feel successful as if you've reached the end of the running track. One of the repeated answers I've gotten from various people made me wondered for a very-very long time, which was, "to get married and have kids". ARE YOU SERIOUS. IS THAT IT? ANYMORE? Nope. That's it. To get married and have kids. Okthx for sharing.

However, now I finally understand it. Everyone have different perspectives on what defines success in their lives. It is the thing that they wanted to achieve and in return they felt happiness.

What does success means to you then? It may be:

To get married and have kids (I respect this)
To have $---- (be specific in digits)
To open up own business
Own a sports car
Be a model for Victoria Secret
Climb Mount Everest
To become a Director/Higher position in a MNC

It could be anything. But if you haven't decided what are your successes, you might be a bit lost in the purpose of life. Therefore, try to define them today so that 10 years later you won't be looking back and regret, or at least you look back lesser in a bit. : }

Take time off and focus, think about what really makes you happy in life
Make a realistic list and breakdown ways to achieve it
Evaluate your actions and results as you move towards it
Appreciate success and feel the happiness

You need to often remind yourself on your list of successes. We tend to forget them easily and slowly start to do things that does not contribute significant results that support our aims.

Hope you can find your Success in life and wish you enjoy the process of it as much as you can!

How To Locate Stolen Blackberry

I have a torch light and it got stolen. The moral of the story is, do not take things for granted, cos things will come and take you back for granted. :S

After the ironic experience, I have a thing to share with BLACKBERRY users. Please install BLACKBERRY PROTECT app in your Blackberries. Other than being very annoying consistently asking you to backup your phone, it can trace your lost BB, lock and wipe device, etc. But it only works when your BB is connected to wireless. (sadly. But still!)

You can even Display Message in your lost BB through Blackberry Protect. Like, "@#($*(#@)#$ MTFK" etc. my.tiny.friend.k

Also, you can do Backup and Restore.

But eventually, if its stolen, it. is. stolen already then. Sigh. So sad. Now I'm phoneless. I am a phoneless girl holding an iPhone2g.oldschool that is LOCKED and unable to activate. I don't even have a good start with iPhone, how to even buy it.

Sungai Seafood @ Kuta, Bali

The first meal was at Sungai Seafood. One of the random seafood restaurant in Bali. =)

The appetite prolly hasn't woken up yet, therefore we only had 3 dishes. The common and sure taste good one, fried egg with prawn.

This is some squid with meat fillings inside. It's... something new to me. The color of the picture is awkward because of the poster scene I was exploring it's effect. The taste was not bad though. I like it.

Hmm... I forgot what was this thing. But it's cabbage on the outside, and something on the inside. I forgot it's taste too. =x

Up till here, I suddenly lost direction for posting this. But I guess, what I wanted to say was, ...... *rephrasing rephrasing*, Food is not something that you should expect much in Bali. But if you're looking forward for relaxation, beaches, surfings, well-built body males, then you can consider Bali.
