Hotvelociti Launches Full Custom Team Kit Business

The cycling apparel company known for its bright and brash bike jerseys is launching a full custom team kit service they announced today.

"Custom for teams is a natural extension of our core business,"said CEO Jen Benepe who started Hotvelociti Cycling Apparel in 2004. "We excel in detailed finishes, technical performance fabrics, true color representation and a superb design capability, which stands us apart from our competition," said Benepe.

Hotvelociti has been manufacturing custom team kits for the race, not-for-profit and recreational cycling markets since 2007, but now the company has created a separate section of their Website to facilitate custom orders and formalize their market presence.

Two of Hotvelociti's current and previous customers include Turner Construction in New York and Washington, DC, and KGS Bikes of Texas who had a line of jerseys designed and manufactured by the Hotvelociti team for their premium clients.

Breakaway Bicycles of Philadelphia, PA outfitted their entire triathlete team with Hotvelociti suits and tops and bottoms this year.

The cycling apparel company will now offer everything from classic race bike jerseys to long sleeve jerseys, short sleeved and long sleeved cross suits, and triathlete suits, tops and bottoms. "We also offer a full selection of winter, fall and spring apparel so that cyclists, triathletes, runners and swimmers can come to us to outfit themselves from head to toe."

Several other companies have entered the custom market in the past year, even though in some instances they haven't even been doing custom. "Since we have been doing it all along I thought we should let people know by creating a separate portal," said Benepe.

All of the jerseys are offered in high tech, performance wicking fabric of different weights and textures, with full YKK zippers, tape seams, and other finishes that normally are not offered for entry level pricing.

The company has also created a line of higher end race products called Race Ready (TM), which include shorts made with high performance compression fabrics and race pads at a slight increment over the standard short offering.

Hotvelociti's short sleeve jerseys are priced at $59.00 each for quantities between 11 and under 25. And though the company does not get a discount from their manufacturer for greater quantity, they offer better pricing for more items because of the economies of scale for the U.S. operation.

Depending on the size of the order, a full custom order can be turned around in one month from the time of art approval--a full month better than that advertised by the competition.

The new business has created a need for new employees said Benepe, who is looking for apparel reps in every major cycling market, she said.

Summer 2009 is on line and in the stores!

Hey Everyone!

Once again, Hotvelociti has come out with one of the most colorful, graphically interesting lines for cycling for 2009/ 2010.
This month we were reviewed by USA Cycling, for our Millas jersey (How many miles must I follow you?) Hotvelociti offers the jersey in short sleeves and cut-off style for $95 and $89.

It's well worth it: what are you going buy instead, a plain jersey that will stretch and

fade in one year for $150, or something that will actually keep its form and color and make you feel good year after year, like Hotvelociti's jerseys?

Here are some of my favorites for women this year: Le Ventoux, appropriately named for one of the steepest climbs in the Tour de France, with a light-skinned woman on front, and a dark-skinned woman on back. This is a tribute to women who can climb, and I know a few! It's $95 (a deal!)

Then there's Bird of Peace. Look even though Obama was elected, we still don't have peace: you name it, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the Middle East, and Sri Lanka, just to mention a few. ($95)

And if you have one step in the 1970's and your toe into 2010 you'll appreciate Ride which can only be described as Ride-a-delic because of it's pu rple ground and its multi-colored side panels! ($95)

Now if you want to look really road-darvish, you will appreciate Ecstasy. It's a reference to the

drug of cycling, you know the beat. ($95)

But this jersey is also slimming and makes you look fast--watch out! This jersey is also available in men's because we know how much men love looking daring (and handsome, yikes!)

Moving right along to Speed 183, we're highlighting this as a men's jersey, even though we also make it for women (equal opportunity all the way.) This jersey has a secret message, it's named after the first tagger in the world, Taki 183. He was the graffiti artist from the 1970's who scrawled his name on the "1" train in Washington Heights, and he lived on 183rd St. His tagging spawned a generation of graffiti artists who became famous, many of them cyclists (Dondi, Andy, and others.) The neighborhood is home to so many interesting people, many of whom are named on the jersey, like Izzy who owns Tread Dogz, Pablo and Nana, and Leo--all cyclists! ($95)

Another one I love for men (also for women,--hey we've been using the bathroom on the second floor for years,) is Sqwak! It has the greatest yellows and greens in fade to white, and the trim is in Italian stripes. The bird is magnificently painted, and we also have this for children, sizes, small to large. ($95)

Now for you mountain bikers and fashionistas, Heads is a nod to the fixation with skulls, blended with the latest Christian Dior color palette--which makes it appropriate for those of you who like a sophisticated color no matter what you are doing. The message is also intense: fight for love, and race for life. What else is there to do? ($95)

And may I say a few things about our models? They are all incredible cyclists, some, like Emma, (on the website) who had a baby a little over a year ago, and is now training women to race: Randy, (pictured left) who has the smallest waist in the world (probably 19"), and is five-foot-seven, and can climb like all get out. Katie, (in Ride above) who was a pro racer a little over a year ago and is now getting ready to study for her veterinarian degree. "K" (jumping) who didn't want to be ID'd, but is one of the top female racers in the Northeast. And finally that handsome devil Jerome (the only man here)--the man never sits still! He bounces from work, to training other triathletes, to doing the Iron Man...wherever they are. (All of them, $Priceless).

What gorgeous, sinuous creatures, now isn't that what life is all about?
