Beautiful 1932 Tudor style house for your interior design

Interior designer Kay Douglass' in Atlanta, GA was sold when she saw this beautiful 1932 Tudor style house. It is definitely a sign of a great designer when someone is able to see the potential and bones of a structure to create something really unique and livable. I love what she did with all of these spaces.

French doors are my favorite. These old French oak doors are eight feet high with leaded-glass panels and they connect the family room to the loggia.

Do you see the headboard? It is made from salvaged French barn doors. Lust lovely.

The loggia is part of a 400-square-foot two-level addition on the back of the house that truly looks original to the house.

Part of an old wheel from France frames a mirror in the library.

Over all, Kay's look is clutter-free and simple. She likes to use minimal color except for paintings and some upholstery..instead she focuses on beautiful texture and form.

Could it be true...? I have read today in more than one article.. that painting roofs white can actually be good for the environment and reverse global warming.

Hmmm... I suppose if you think about it..it does make sense..black attracts and absorbs heat..which is why we get extra hot on a summer day when wearing black..and white reflects light.

..and you really really should...I think Zoe Murphy's philosophy is like mine..if you have something you don't like spruce it up and make it something you love!! I just love her designs..and all of the lovely punchy/beachy colors she uses!!

All of her pillows are for sale for $55 each!! I just love that are silk and hand printed..and they are made from reclaimed wedding dress fabric..very cool!

Oh ..if I only had a beach house..this would surely be in it!!!

..and these prints on formica!! What a fabulous idea!! :)

I just absolutley adore Drake Design's portfolio!! It's an explosion of color and texture!!! During my spring semester at FIT ..I saw this photo in Elle Decor and decided upon it to do a rendering (one of my assignments)..

Below is my drawing...made alterations to the art on the wall as my professor thought it was too "busy" (personally..though..I loved the art!!)

I love this room too!!

I believe this lamp is from Alpha Workshops!! :-D

They have the best sense of color!!

I adore these chairs and sofas I found on the website green with glamour!! The cyrilla design is actually embroidered onto the furniture not silk-screened so it gives it a very high end yet casual look!!

House on the Islands in the Great Lakes

but..some do have their own islands....Been-Seen is a great website if you plan on doing any traveling...and it was there I discovered these extremely interesting photos of house islands..

Hmmm... I guess this would be great..that is if you don't like noisy neighbors, enjoy the sound of the ocean and have an unhealthy fear of burglars...but I can't help wondering what would happen at high tide..? Does your house go under water..? LMAO ..sorry... look below aren't they cool!

This one is located in Las Isletas, Nicaragua on Lake Cocibolca..

This one sits off Newport, Rhode Island. It has 23 rooms and has been around for over 100 years!!

Nathan's Bunker design for great house

While last season was somewhat of a disappointment..Top Design on Bravo has come back with a vengeance!! So far their challenges have been..in my opinion..just brilliant!!

The first episode they had to break up in 4 teams and design an entire loft space based on their judges/celebrity designers vision..and if you think that was a whopper, the second challenge was to design a bunker (or bomb shelter) that they would have to share with their teammate they just met for 50 years! Craziness! The design had to be cohesive and mesh both of their styles together.

Below are three of the top bunkers from last nights episode ..the pic on the top is Wisit and Nathan's design.. the judges really liked the simple almost minimalist style with the billowy drapes on the ceiling which gave it a much less industrial feel. The middle was Natalie and Theresa’s room ..hmm..interesting but is it "zen-like"..?

My favorite of the three is the last one (Andrea and Eddie's design). I just love how they incorporated "nature" with the painting of a tree and I love the cowhide too..

Now don't get me wrong.. I love to shop and I love new things!! However..I do believe in the philosophy that things should be repurposed as much as possible!!!! Especially with all that junk out there floating around --you know that stuff that people throw away(such a waste).

Anyway..while I would love to do these things myself...I am just not crafty like that ..at least not to this extent.. but lucky for all of us not-so-crafty ..I know of some great sources who deserve our support for all of their tediousness, amazing talents and efforts..

This filigree tea light holder is such an incredible project! I can only imagine the tedious work and ingenuity that went into this ..and it is only $10!! It is made out of an old hairspray can!!

This chair would be so great in a garden and/or patio and look it is made out of an old hose-need I say more--just incredible!!

I love this wine bottle lamp idea that Design Sprout shares with us!! So simple and yet so creative!! Just pop on a contemporary shade for a great look!! -hmm maybe this one I could handle...?

This below is a US Military Ammo Ammunition Box repurposed as a coffee table! How neat and again how creative!

And of course it is so great to see this philosophy being used in the high end of things as well!! This chair I have been absolutely in love with for some time now!! It's made out of reclaimed bourbon barrel staves and truck springs!!

So I was browsing through Dominomag.com and I came across these beautiful green designs that I just had to share in case anyone missed them...

I love the amazing recycled mosaic tile of this kitchen. It gives it such a modern edge with beautiful color!!

Gotta love this worldly and dressed down look.

The tiles on the floor of this bathroom are 100% eco-chic!!

This kitchen is so high tech yet so vintage looking and so very eco-chic :)!

Thonet Signed Set of 4 Vintage Mid Century Dining Chair Height Stools for $339 for the entire set!! I think they are very cute indeed and are probably worth a whole lot more than $339 considering they are in impeccable condition!

Isn't this dresser fabulous..I just love the straight clean lines and the little knobs.. it is $249..so mid-century yet again so so now! :)

Hmmm...I just love this!! Thiscouch has such great color and lines and would be great for the right apartment and it is authentic Knoll-designed by Andrew Ivar Morrison & Bruce Hannah.. - only $200-located in Gowanus

Gotta love the poppy blue and the great shape of this desk/side chair!! $85! -located in the Lower East Side

or..if the blue is too much for you ..there is always this desk chair!! Love it!! - $75 - located in West Village

..and last but certainly not least..look at this amazing coffee table..I would personally slap a slab of glass on top for more functionability..but the look is just perfect!! It is only $150 in Williamsburg..and the add says they have a whole warehouse full of mid-century pieces.
