I just love this video. The blanket is more than a show of love. But support and encouragement.

So Much for Sock Madness

2014-07-06T20:56:00.000-06:00

I didn't make it past the third round. That's okay I hated the sock and haven't finished it yet. Not sure what to do since I don't want the yarn to go to waste. Guess it will be sleeping socks. I was so excited to try sock madness and this year it was all inexperienced designers for most of the socks. Really bad pattern writing and gauge? OMG! 15 rows to the inch? Just happened to be her choice of yarn not a standard but more like lace. Then she determined how much by taking her sock which had been done with 20 rounds and weighed it to change it to 40 rounds! Turns out we all ran out of yarn some were able to get more before the time was up. I couldn't since I bought the last too spools. So I have odd colored toes. Guess that's okay since I still have to rip them out and make them shorter. WHO! in the world does a test pattern for 20 round legs in a lace yarn and then decides they want it to bee 40 so weighs it to add yardage to a pattern? Then shows everyone in the world of Ravelry the pictures of the 20 rounds for the pattern??? Talk about false advertising!

Yesh, then the third round was rainbow pipes... well they are like clown socks and not clear enough that I have the button on the wrong side for one sock and wasted a mini skein I really wanted to use for some fingerless gloves. Those are the ones I need to finish. Just if the heels were both the same color I would probably like them better. So sock madness was a bust this year. Don't know if I want to do next year. Maybe for the patterns but this year left such a bad taste in my mouth and made my carpel tunnel worse. I just don't know. We will see.

Sock Madness 8 and I made it!

2014-04-07T17:05:00.000-06:00

That's right! I made it through round 2 and on to round 3. I am not the happiest camper about the pattern but I got it done. I will end up ripping out half the foot so I can make it shorter for myself and I will skip the fancy toe cable.

You can see in this picture how long the socks are. WAAAAY! to looong for me.

Knitting Needle Conversion Chart

2014-02-24T07:58:00.000-07:00

I've been getting into some old knitting patterns lately and I thought the needle sizes seemed really odd. Turns out they were UK sizes and not US sizes. Big difference on how you read the patterns too. So with some poking around I found some online charts for converting the needle sizes. Hope this is of help to others out there.

SIGH Another Union Shoots It's Self in the Foot.

2012-11-16T15:39:00.000-07:00

Today Hostess announced it's closing. The union wanted more money when the company is already in bankruptcy. You would think to insure keeping their jobs the union would have tried working with the company more. Now these people will have no jobs no income, and everything is gone because Hostess is already in bankruptcy. I'm hoping that my husbands work won't be doing that next.

Need another faucet mount filter that is not a PUR

2012-03-17T16:26:00.000-06:00

This is now the second faucet mounted filter that has stripped out in less than a year. The first one made it 9 months before the adapter started to just blow off the faucet when we weren't even using the water filter. We didn't have the receipt so we bought another. This one made it 6 months then the change filter light stopped working. So we put the first one on since the adapter seemed to be doing just fine. Now the adapter is doing it again. I can't seem to find any replacement adapters, the kit only comes with one of each size/type. Not happy right now about this. No you would think I learned my lesson and kept the receipt, but I didn't.

AAARRRRGGGHHH! The...

Why do Mac people think that having a Mac is the answer to any and all computer problems?! Heck in this case it wasn't even a computer problem it was me trying to remember the name of a FLIPPING Scrapbook kit! If they feel that all my problems would be fixed by getting a Mac why do I NOT! see them buying me one? Probably because they don't have the thousand bucks either! IF YOU'RE GOING TO TRY PUSHING A MAC ON ME THEN JUST GIVE ME ONE CAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE THOUSAND BUCKS FOR ONE! If I had the thousand bucks I wouldn't be living in an apartment and struggling to pay my medical bills. Or should I say wondering if I can afford to pay the co-pay to even go to the doctor. I'll probably die at home one day because I'll have decided that I don't have the $100 bucks for the stupid emergency room co-pay! and dying would be cheaper! So just stop saying that a Mac would fix everything! Because I don't have one you're saying, I stupid, inadequate, a moron, and my life is miserable because I chose to pay my rent instead of getting a Mac!

Nifty Baby Towel Idea

I know my boys are teens now but I sure wish I had known about this idea when they were little. There I was using those cheap crooked lopsided baby towels, and I could have made these. Considering I made my own diaper doublers why not? So check it out on the "It's A Priceless Life" Blog
