Do you really know me?

Communication, interaction or an exchange of ideas

Are vital necessities for knowing what someone is really all about
To know their character, their weaknesses, their assets and their dreams
You must take the time to relate to them, to feel them and to hear their heart
You have to spend time talking to them, working with them and observing them
In what they say, how they respond, what they do, and even who they spend time around
You owe that to individuals you claim to know
You can’t base your treatment of them on the grape vine or what someone else said
Even though that’s how you get your information about people
Yeah, you ask everybody else about everybody else when you don’t really know everybody else
So how is it that you think you will get to know someone by asking someone else
What if they don’t like them and give a bad report or like them and give a false report
Have you even discerned who it is that you are asking
Have you taken the time to relate to them, to feel them and to hear their heart
Have you spent time talking to them, working with them and observing them
In what they say, how they respond, what they do and even who they spend time around
Because if you haven’t done these things and you asked someone else about me
All you’re going to get is their perception of who they think I am
Now that’s not fair to me
Chances are they haven’t related to me, felt me or observed me
In what I say, how I respond, what I do or even who I spend time around
Now ask yourself, do you really know me?

Diversity is a Good Thing

Where would we be without diversity
Something that includes not only them, but both you and me
We wouldn’t have variety, or change or ethnic differences
We wouldn’t be able to enjoy each other’s accomplishments
Importance would be diminished of what each person has to say
We wouldn’t be able to flourish in an environment like the USA
Without all of the different people we encounter where would we be
We certainly wouldn’t enjoy celebrating events like Hispanic Heritage or Black History
No matter where you are, diversity is in your face
It’s in our neighborhoods, our churches and in the marketplace
We need to have awareness of others all around us
Something we must all learn and practice is others’ acceptance
What if you couldn’t share your ideas, your thoughts or your dreams
You would slowly die inside, feeling your life lacks any meaning
Without diversity, there would not have been people like John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. to lead the way
Nor would we have a Black man, Barak Obama or a woman, Hillary Rodham-Clinton, campaigning in a presidential election today
We can’t just talk about diversity, but it must be in our thinking and in our actions
No one group of people can get in their mind that they are the main attraction
It is a wonderful thing to live where there is such diversity
It’s part of why this nation, America, is called the home of the brave and the land of the free
Diversity is a good thing!

I am a young black woman and I use to cringe when I saw what appeared to be a decent black man, with a white woman. What was going through my mind then? “Damn, another black man taken by a white woman, ughh.” But why did it bother me so much? We all have blood running through our veins. Why are things such as race, culture ,or where you come from an issue when you’re attracted to someone?

Now l must say, some only date out of their race because they want their children to look a certain way, but their just ignorant; and to them, it’s better. Who is to blame? I blame the Media! Some black men would not date a black woman because they say that their ghetto, uneducated and they want to control everything. Black men say that white women are easier to handle, they will let the man control, and they don’t stress you out. Are all of these stereotypes true? Or is it what the media makes us out to be? If you look into a lot African-American movies, you will notice that the black women always have relationship issues, she’s desperate or she is in an abusive relationship. Not to mention, her uneducated African-American boyfriend who sells drugs, and has anger issues. While predominantly white films show white women to be more gentle and white men are wealthy and they take care of their family.

So in this video an African-American woman says that if she were to date a Black man she would feel as if they would “live in her house, eat her food, drive her car” basically live off of her. What would make her feel that way? Are all black men uneducated or worthless? Are white men more structured? In this same video a white woman says that white woman are a better choice for black men; Although she is tanning so much she looks like she’s trying to be a black woman. Are all white woman a better choice for black men?

Honestly I feel that race should not matter when you choose who you want to be with; as long as that person makes you happy. Race should not be an issue! And the only way to stop all of these stereotypes is by educating yourself.

These three topics are everyone’s concern because we are all exposed to these crises. A lot of money is invested in research and medical centers to find cure and knowledge regarding health and environmental crises. The world is more educated than it was before but it seems that it is worse than then. Future generations have less chance to survive due to today’s issues that are not being solved. Food and beverage industries are more concerned about selling their products for higher benefits. The federal government gets a lot of pressure from these companies which lead to an inactive society. 10 000 0000 animals are killed every year in USA and those animals produces green house gases and heart diseases; The politics around the food is more complicated than we think. On the other side the rule seems to be simple, plants promote health and recycling maintains the environment.
