And now 2012 is here, let's be ready to face the new challenges in life. We can surpass anything, just put God in the center of life.

To my family, friends, officemates, and to all the people who became and will become part of my life, a blessed and prosperous 2012 to all of us. May God continue to shower His blessings to us and guide us in every step of the way.

To my dear Mark, let's entice 2012 together. Besides, this will be our year! :D

Batangas: Last Jaunt for 2011

Last Dec 3 and 4, my sister (Ate Lily), my sister's friends (Irene, Auberry, Kenneth and Leanne), my boyfriend (Mark), and I went to Batangas for an adventure.

First stop is the Residencia de Riego and Resort located in the town of Alitagtag, Batangas. The facilities and views are good, very relaxing and attractive. However, we just noticed that the service is poor especially in their restaurant. The server is not polite, he will keep you waiting at the counter and if he saw you, he will act like he doesn't see you. That's the only problem in this place.

Instead of talking the poor service, let's highlight the good side of this resort. Facilities are good and has nice ambience. They have their restaurant and bar.

Each room has a ref, tv, air conditiong unit, ceiling fans, hot and cold shower, and a good room-ambience for those who want to have a good sleep.

The recreation areas, where you can play darts, billiards, and sing in their videoke.

This resort is famous on its 12 color-logic lights swimming pools. You will be delighted with the changing colors of the pools.

The following day, we headed to Cuenca, Batangas. From my Auntie's house, we've walked for about 30 minutes going to what they call, "Sablay".

When we reached "Sablay", we did not wait any minute to take the pictures of the beauty of the Mother Nature. From there, you may see the splendid beauty of Mt. Makulot and the Taal Lake.

All in all, the trip was fun. Mark and I met a new circle of friends. This will be the last for the year. And another enjoyable journeys for the coming years. :)

Hong Kong: Our First Out-of-the-Country Trip

This is a late post, but I believe that it's better late than never. :D

Last August 19-22, my honey and I, together with his parents traveled to Hong Kong, China for a vacation.

From airport, Mark and I went to Lantau via Airport Express and MTR.

We took a cable car going to Ngong Ping Village. The view from the cable car is breath-taking.

When we reached the Ngong Ping Village, we then strolled around, went to Po Lin Monastery...

then to Giant Buddha...

then we walked 15-20 mins to reach the Wisdom Path....

From Lantau Island, we rode the Hong Kong MTR to reach the Hong Kong Island where we will ride a Peak Tram going to The Peak or also known as Victoria Peak. Peak Tram is a train traveling in an inclined plane or cliff railway. The view from Peak Tram is weird as you will see the buildings and trees in their slant position (because the railway is inclined).

We then proceed to Madame Tussauds, a wax museum of famous personalities and celebrities.

After exploring Madame Tussauds, we then decided to have our dinner to Burger King, and then went to Sky Terrace 428, the highest viewing platform in Hong Kong.

This also offers a 360-degree panoramic view.

Second day was with a traven agent. This time, we already traveled with Mark's parents. Since we are in a tour package, we went to Avenue of Stars, then to Jewelry Shop (the boring one).

After the boring jewelry shop, we then proceed to Disneyland and meet with Mickey and Minnie Mouse!

We ended the day with the Disneyland fireworks.

Third day, we traveled with our own again. We rode a double-decker bus going to Hong Kong Ocean Park.

The Ocean Park in Hong Kong is much different from the Philippines. There are lots of different animals, other than fish, like the cutey-cute pandas. There are also different rides.

We've also watched the dolphins and sea lions with their incredible talents.

After Ocean Park, we went to Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong Island to ride a ferry going to Kowloon Peninsula.

Then we watched the "Symphony of Lights" near the Harbour, along the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront.

Our day did not end with the lights, we went to different night markets in Hong Kong: Mong Kok, Temple Street, Nathan Road, and Nam Cheong.

We left Hong Kong on the following day. We were too early for our 10am flight and so we shopped for shirts and ballpen before going to our assigned gate number. The Hong Kong airport is too big, that you need to ride a train going to your designated gate.

Out tour was fun and I'll definitely come back here. :)

Breaking Dawn On Our 2nd 7th

Last 18th of November, my Honey and I had celebrated our 2nd 7th month or our 19th monthsary. This is also the first day of the movie "Breaking Dawn". It's a chick movie... Yes. But Mark went with me to see this movie. I've read all of the 4 books, even the unpublished Midnight Sun. I've enjoyed the movie.

The movie is just the first part of the Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn, the 4th book of Twilight Saga. The first 3 books are Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse, which are all have movies.

I don't know why this series touched my heart. From the time the book came up to the time it was immortalized as movie. The vampire versus werewolf, the vampire-human-werewolf love triangle, love, life, family.

After we watched the movie, I googled immediately the bridal gown of Bella. It's simple yet classy. I couldn't find the real gown, but I landed on a site saying that anyone can own the Bella's wedding gown replica. And it costs $799!!! So, expensive! Hahaha. When I get married, I also want a simple gown but classy and sexy. Hahaha. Wishful thinking. :D

Food Trip: Cake Pops

While browsing the today's issue of Philippine Daily Inquirer (free from McDonald's Edsa Central), I saw from the Sunday Biz the featured article about the Lollicake Factory of LJ Moreno. I was delighted with the shapes and designs of cake pops. Cake Pops, as described from the article, are bite-sized balls of cake stuck in lollipop sticks and coated with candy melts. Now, I have an idea for the souvenirs when I get married (soon). Hahaha. The place is located at Kapitolyo, Pasig City. I will surely visit this place, especially now that I will move in to Kapitolyo in few days. :)

Google's 13th on Google's Doodle

Happy Birthday Google! The 13th Birthday Google Doodle appeared on Tuesday, September 27, 2011.

Originally, Google search engine used the Stanford website with domain, "google.stanford.edu". Then the domain that Google is currently using, "google.com" has been registered last September 15, 2007. But the birth of Google has been debated, until it finally chosen September 27 as the official birth of Google.

The term "'Google" came from the misspelling keyword, "googol". This refers to number 1 followed by one-hundred zeros.

The Google Doodle has been started last August 30, 1998 with a logo for "Burning Man festival - (Global)".

Birthday Adventure at CDO, Bukidnon, and Iligan - Day 4

11th of July, our last day in Cagayan De Oro. We didn't go anywhere, we just stayed at Mark's home, and waited until 12noon. But before that, we took some pictures of their dogs. The labrador is named as Red (female), while the terrier is Jap-Jap (male). The name of the terrier reminds me of my Pancake, Jap. Hahaha. Peace! :D

We also took some pictures beside their Clinic, wearing our CDO shirts from Island Tour.

And then we bid goodbye to CDO, until next time. I might be part of it soon. :D

Thanks to Mark's family for accepting me to their house. To Mark's friends, Teo, Victor, and Ken for the Iligan trip. And most especially to my dearest boyfriend, Mark. Next trip, HongKong. :D

Birthday Adventure at CDO, Bukidnon, and Iligan - Day 3

Third Stop: Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte

10th of July, our third and last adventure (but not the least) on our 4-day stay is the Iligan City, the city of majestic waterfalls. After almost 2-hour travel from CDO to Iligan City, we first had our lunch at the Tita Fannies Liempo & Chicken Haus. They are famous for their unique taste of liempo and chicken especially when eaten with the their "sukang pinakurat".

Then we went to the hidden treasure of Iligan, the Tinago falls. "Tinago" is a Filipino term for hidden.

If you didn't bring a car or you don't have a service, you need to ride a "habal-habal" (a motorcycle for rent) from the Buruan market. It costs Php25.00 per person.

The falls is hidden in deep ravine. Before you reached this place, you need to walk down more than 400 steps.

But after all the tiresome exploration, you will see the awesome gift of nature to us. The water is cold, clear, and clean.

We rented a life jacket for Php5.00. I don't know what will it costs when the government has finally acquired the place.

Most of the people who want to go to the bottom of the falls have rented a raft. The cost is depending on how many persons will ride the raft.

Tinago Falls is definitely a wonder of the Philippines. This was also one of the scenes from the movie, "Forever and a Day" of Sam Milby and KC Conception.

Next destination is the Maria Cristina Falls. But before we reach it, we went to Nature's Park first. They also offer a zipline adventure. There is an entrance fee of Php30.00 per head.

And the amazing beauty of Maria Cristina Falls had finally seen by my own eyes. Maria Cristina Falls is also the source of city industries' electric power. This powers the Agus VI Hydroelectric Plant.

The trip is tiring but we are all happy.

Though, Mark and I were already tired, we still went to Limketkai Mall, since it was our last night in CDO. I was surprised because the mall is closing at 8:00PM on a Sunday night. Most of the establishments here, even the bars are already closed. It is too early. Hihihi. Anyway, we had our dinner at Missy Bon-Bon Breadshop. The food is superb and the ambience is very good---relaxing and cozy.

And i love their pistachio gelato! ♥♥♥

Birthday Adventure at CDO, Bukidnon, and Iligan - Day 2

Second Stop: Dahilayan, Bukidnon

Mark and I woke-up early on the 9th of July, this is in preparation for our Dahilayan Adventure. Our meeting place is at Coffeworks Divisoria.

Mark and I bought some "baon" at Mercury Drug near this coffee shop. On our way there, we saw Xavier University, also known as Ateneo De Cagayan.

We left Divisoria at 8:30AM. On that day, there was a CDO-Dahilayan 55K Trail UltraMarathon. That's why there were people running at the streets.

On our way to Dahilayan, we saw the pineapple plantation.

Then we finally reached the Dahilayan Adventure Park.

We immediately bought a ticket for the All-Rides Zip Line (320m + 150m + 840m) for Php600.00. My fave is the 840m zip line. It's all worth it. And I wanna try it again. :)

The picture and the certificate costs Php100.00. If you want an additional picture, you need to pay Php50.00. It's cheap, isn't it?

After the zipline adventure, we went to Forest Park. Every weekdays, entrance fee for adults is Php50.00, while for children is Php20.00. Every weekends, Php100.00 for adults, and Php50.00 for children.

On our way back to CDO, we stop by at the big pineapple of Del Monte (but I think the one at the Calauan, Laguna is bigger).

We walked around the LimKetKai Mall when we reached CDO.

Then chill at Bo's Coffee - Rosario Arcade, treat by Honey.

When Teo, Mark's friend, arrived, we went to Loreto's Grill & Restaurant for dinner. This is their hangout place when they were young.

And that's the end of Day 2.

Birthday Adventure at CDO, Bukidnon, and Iligan - Day 1

Another year has been added to my age. And this time, it's adventurous, more exciting, and more meaningful. Thanks to my dearest honey for making my 28th birthday a very memorable one.

First Stop: Cagayan De Oro

We rode a Cebupac airbus (thanks to piso fare) at 4:15am of July 8, the day of my birthday. We reached Cagayan De Oro at around 5:30am. We went to Divisoria to meet the parents of Mark and also, this is the meeting place of Kagay - the group where we listed for CDO white water rafting. You may refer to this link for more Kagay's information. We had our breakfast at Jollibee Divisoria. Then, we rode Kagay's jeep service to go to our destination.

We first had our stop-over at Macahambus Adventure Park.

You may try their sky bridge, zip line, and rapelling.

They also have souvenirs for sale.

But because we have already plan for Dahilayan adventure the next day, we didn't try these at Macahambus. For other information about Macahambus and their rates please refer to this link.

We reached the white water rafting venue at 11:00am. We prepared first for the adventure.

Got some instructions from our guide. He taught us how to use the paddle, and what we are going to do when we accidentally dropped from the raft.

Mark and I had chose the Basic Rafting only because it's my first time (it's Mark's second time), and I'm afraid because I don't know how to swim, and I'm afraid of deep water.

Then, the adventure begins.

They also has the Zorb Ball adventure, located at the take-out point of the white water rafting adventure.

After the rafting, Mark and I went to Gaston Park, where you will see most of the couples. :D

Then, because it's my birthday, we visited St Augustine Cathedral Church and lit a candle to thank God for all the blessings that He has given and will give to us.

We had our very late lunch at Butcher's Best Barbeque, just few walks away from the Cathedral.

After eating, we went to Mark's home residence at the Apovel Subd to sleep and sleep and sleep, then eat. :)

We didn't try Camiguin this time because we were already been there last year.

Panning: Photography in Motion

Panning is a photography technique that lets you shot a moving subject (cars, person, animals, etc). The term means a horizontal movement or rotation of still or video camera (from wikipedia). Photography is one of my favorite hobbies nowadays, and being a frustrated photographer, I want to learn some techniques.

Pahiyas 2011: Quezon's Famous Flamboyant Festival

May 15 is the traditional date as liturgical feast for St. Isidore the Laborer (or the Farmer) or known in the Philippines as "San Isidro Labrador". He is considered as the Patron Saint of farmers, peasants, and day laborers. To know more about him, here's a wikipedia link.

There are many towns in the Philippines that give honor to him when this day comes every year. Lucban is one of those towns and they celebrate it as the famous "Pahiyas".

Lucban is an upland town in Quezon (southern Tagalog), about 150 miles southeast of Manila. Through South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), it is 3-4 hours from Manila via Lucena, Legazpi, Batangas Exit, passing the towns of Sto. Tomas, Alaminos, San Pablo, Tiaong (my hometown), Candelaria, Sariaya, Lucena City, and Tayabas or 2-3 hours via Calamba, Los Banos, Pagsanjan exit, passing the towns of Calamba, Los Banos (where I spent my college years), Bay, Pila, Sta Cruz, Pagsanjan, Cavinti, and Lusiana. Pahiyas came from a Filipino word "hiyas", meaning jewel and the word itself, Pahiyas, means a precious offering, a decor, or a decoration. The people of Lucban celebrate this feast to give thanks to St Isidore for the good harvest and another fruitful years ahead. This festivity illustrates how Filipinos are very creative and artistic in terms of how they decorate their houses with their very own harvest, the kiping, their woven hats, bags, etc.

To experience this colorful celebration of my fellow Quezonian, we decided to be part of it this year. Mark and I rode an HM Transport bus at 4:30AM, We then reached Pagsawitan, Laguna where we rode a jeep going to Lucban. We passed by a zig-zag road. From the last stop of the jeepneys, we rode a tricycle but after a few minutes of no moving cars because of the traffic, we decided to walk until we reached the decorated and colorful houses. After more than an hour of walking and taking pictures, we reached the Church of Lucban. We attended the mass, and continue to explore and see the decorative houses of Lucban.

Lucban Church is one of the trademarks of the town. This has been built three times. First was ruined, second was damaged by fire, and the third one is the present church.

The following are some of the decorations that the Lucban people had made for this year.

And other creative ideas...

"Kiping" is considered as the most important element of the celebration. It is a brightly-colored, leaf-shaped wafer made from a rice paste, which are beautifully ornamented to each of their house. This can also be eaten in grilled or fried.

There are also houses that illustrated how to make the "kiping":

Lucban is also famous with their "longganisang lucban"...

...and "pancit habhab" (a taste of noodles or pancit on a banana leaf eaten without using any utensils). We tried it by buying to one of the vendors but we failed to take a picture of it. We also tasted it from Maggi's free pancit habhab that they offered near the church.

The town is also known with their woven hats, abaniko fans, and coin purses.

And other foods like puto-seko, meringue, broas. and others (which is also known to anywhere of Quezon).

When you are in Lucban, you should not miss to taste their very delicious pizza at the Ground Zero.

There are also floats and parade of beautiful ladies with their creative gowns, but we had not waited for that because we went home early. We still went to Tiaong after that and bonded with my family there. However, we saw Matt Evans and Sarah Lahbati (Philippine actor and actress) from the float of Coke. Honestly. I didn't know Sarah Lahbati, I still need to google who she is and found out that she is a GMA talent. I seldom watch TV and if I watch, we're tuned-in to ABS-CBN.

All in all, this is great experience for us, though it's too hot that time to this place. And this is what I can say:

McDo's Groovy Commercial 2011

Konte na lang ang memory ko, sino ka nga?

One of the famous lines of the new McDonald's commercial. After the popular BF/GF commercial (involved kids, which was stopped by CBCP) of McDonald's, there comes this new cool commercial. This is about the three old men. Two of then are talking about the people around them and comparing it from their time. It started with the young man who is wearing a checkered polo, then with a hat, and the three people who are drinking coffee. Then, the third old man came with three "McFloats". The other old man say, "uy, nanglibre si kulot". The last part involved an IPad, the other old man said, "uy, ang daming bagong apps ngayon ah." It was ended with the qouted line above.

The commercial typifies the friendship that never faded until they reached their old age. It gives us the idea of a strong friendship which was bound by McDo.

Perfect! Another best commercial of Mcdo. Great idea! Definitely, "LOVE KO TO!" :)

First Time at Tony & Jackey, Korean Experience at the Metro

Last May 14, my boyfriend and I went to Tony & Jackey, a salon which is famous for Korean hairstyling. This has many branches around the Philippines. Check it out at http://www.tonyandjackey.net. We went to Buendia, Makati branch, at the Burgundy Corporate Tower (West of Ayala Building).

The original plan is to have my haircut only, but they offered me a haircut with hair treatment that costs Php1,000.00. I think they always have that promo. Anyway, my Korean hairstylist is Andrew. He curled my hair temporarily and told me to try it permanent next time. I definitely liked my wavy hair, but it only lasts in a day. Hehehe. Maybe I'll try it someday. Moving forward, after the treatment, I felt the softness of my hair, but after few days, it seems that it's becoming more dry. I want to have my long black hair again. Oh stress, what have you done to me?

Modern Dance on Google Doodle

The default webpage of my Google Chrome is the Google's webpage. And everytime I load my browser, and see a different Google logo, I check what Google is celebrating. And today, May 11, 2011, I became curious to the animated logo of Google. It's cute. I found out that Google is celebrating the 117th birthday of Martha Graham, the mother of the modern dance. This is the third doodle of Google for the month. This is how Google home page is looked like:

While browing the result of Martha Graham, when you clicked the logo, I saw a link that contains a video of this with background music. You may check, "Google Doodle celebrates mother of modern dance Martha Graham's 117th birthday". I have found 2 versions of the video with background music from youtube.

Easter Sunday at Loreland Farm Resort

Sunday is really a family day. My family decided to have a day swimming/outing in Loreland Farm Resort located at Sitio Loreland, Brgy. San Roque, Antipolo City, few kilometers away from our house in Antipolo. Cuenca on Maundy Thursday

My boyfriend and I had plans for this Holy Week. We should be both in Malolos, Bulacan from today until Saturday. But because of unexpected family plans, I was not able to go with him. My family needs to visit my mother's youngest brother because he's very ill. On the bright side, we went to thousand steps in Don Juan or better known as Lumampao. The steps are the gateway to Taal Lake. We just took at about 250 steps. When I was young, we already went down to lake, but because we don't have that much time today, we weren't able to finish the steps. There was no electricity the first time I went to this place but now there are light posts installed everywhere.

Mosaic of First Year Memories

Yay! It's 18th of April! Same day last year, someone became part of my life. Someone who is so insensitive, less sweet and less thoughtful; but here we are, we are on our "paper" year. At first, I find it hard thinking what should I give to him. I googled all possible gifts that will be memorable for him (yeah, call me hopeless romantic, while he's not... hihihi), until I decided to create a photo mosaic. I've searched for a photo mosaic generator. I chose AndreaMosaic but the portable one. I dowloaded it from here. Then I selected all of our photos from april 2010. It's not easy for me to gather photos since most of our photos are in group. But luckily I had collected enough number of pictures of the two of us only.

I had already adjusted the size of the photo. The original output is 40x60 with 40.5MB.

I want to surprise Mark, but I have no choice but to tell him about this because we are always together. We went to Megamall. At first I want it printed in canvass with boxed frame, but its so expensive. Then we went to Island Photo. I chose a 20x30 photo enlargement in linen paper. We had the printed picture after 3 days.

Then we tried to go to SM Megamall Homeworld to look for frame that will fit the 20x30 picture. But we failed. We went to Frame Plus at Bldg A Upper Ground of SM Megamall, and inquire for frames. The price is fair so I decided to order a 20x30 frame. After 3 days, we already received the frame, then they put the picture that we brought.

I already gave it to him 3 days before our anniversary, that's why I already have his photo with my gift. I hope he likes it.
