There goes another few seconds in my fifteen minutes of fame. I do believe my fame quotient is now in overdraft after my TV appearances, and now publication in a hard back no less.

Neil, here's a wee list of stuff I've done as an account manager role...

Whilst at UMC I spent around four months looking after the whole Miles Group account, as well as doing the creative and managing the relationship for the Sallies account. Throughout my time with UMC I also supported the team's relationships and worked in close quarters on the accounts of Totalspan, Markhams and Couplands.
As principal of Ninefish,I also was the suit for the relationships with the major clients it enjoyed: CCC. Eastgate, Hills Pet Products and the events Co amongst the many insignificant others.

Service is crucial: that's why I kept clients through seventeen years.

Corollary:
#1 the customer is always right
#2 if the customer is wrong see #1.

Brands:
Brands are what people have relationships with.
Congruent brands are what people have relationships with, without disappointments.

I had a wee moment on Saturday afternoon, a pupil from Dyson Perrins High School where I 'taught' Art got in touch, and with permission from his mum we shared an alcoholic beverage or two in the late afternoon sun over in Sumner.

I never quite thought I'd be drinking with ex pupils on the beach front in New Zealand when, by and large, they're so far away in Malvern UK.

It was interesting to be reminded of some of the things I talked about back then as I prepared to live in NZ, and how much the little oiks had heard between the lines of rhetoric. Also to be reminded how important teachers can be in the lives of young people. Thanks G for sharing your time in Christchurch with an old fart.

Marketing Profs have a little bit of insight about the saviour of the web: Twitter

"Think of how your friends and relations outside the Silicon Valley bubble use MySpace or Facebook," he says. "Are they putting up blog posts about how to increase site traffic? Commenting on Zappos' brilliant use of Twitter? Or are they commenting on their friend's pictures from their trip to Jamaica last month and posting mildly funny clips they found on YouTube?" Exactly. "So what makes you all think they're going to act any differently on Twitter?"

Half of me says they're right, the other half knows how useful twitter can be. But then I thought the same about Blogger and the like three years ago. And look what's happened with blogging: lolcats...
