California City Fines Couple for Holding Bible Study in Their Home

The Return of Christ is imminent! This is just one of the Signs of the Times as pathetic religious persecution of Christians takes hold.

Would you believe that private Bible Studies in a home could be a legal issue?

A southern California couple has been fined $300 dollars for holding Christian Bible study sessions in their home, and could face another $500 for each additional gathering.

City officials in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. say Chuck and Stephanie Fromm are in violation of municipal code 9-3.301, which prohibits “religious, fraternal or non-profit” organizations in residential neighborhoods without a permit. Stephanie hosts a Wednesday Bible study that draws about 20 attendees, and Chuck holds a Sunday service that gets about 50.

According to the Dispatch, the Fromms live in a neighborhood with large homes and have a corral, barn, pool and huge back lawn on their property, so parking and noise aren’t a problem.

“There’s no singing or music,” Stephanie said. “It’s meditative.”

The Fromms appealed their citations but were denied and warned future sessions would carry heftier penalties. A statement from the Pacific Justice Institute, which is defending the couple in a lawsuit against the city, said Chuck Fromm was also told regular gatherings of three or more people require a conditional use permit, which can be costly and difficult to obtain.

The financial collapse that so many of us have been anticipating is seemingly closer then ever. Over the past several weeks, there have been a host of ominous signs for the U.S. economy. Yields on U.S. Treasuries have moved up rapidly and Moody’s is publicly warning that it may have to cut the rating on U.S. government debt soon. Mortgage rates are also moving up aggressively. The euro and the U.S. dollar both look incredibly shaky. Jobs continue to be shipped out of the United States at a blistering pace as our politicians stand by and do nothing. Confidence in U.S. government debt around the globe continues to decline. State and local governments that are drowning in debt across the United States are savagely cutting back on even essential social services and are coming up with increasingly “creative” ways of getting more money out of all of us. Meanwhile, tremor after tremor continues to strike the world financial system. So does this mean that we have almost reached a tipping point? Is the world on the verge of a major financial collapse?

Let’s hope not, but with each passing week the financial news just seems to get eve worse. Not only is U.S. government debt spinning wildly toward a breaking point, but many U.S. states (such as California) are in such horrific financial condition that they are beginning to resemble banana republics.

But it is not just the United States that is in trouble. Nightmarish debt problems in Greece, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Belgium and several other European nations threaten to crash the euro at any time. In fact, many economists are now openly debating which will collapse first – the euro or the U.S. dollar.

Sadly, this is the inevitable result of constructing a global financial system on debt. All debt bubbles eventually collapse. Currently we are living in the biggest debt bubble in the history of the world, and when this one bursts it is going to be a disaster of truly historic proportions.

So will we reach a tipping point soon? Well, the following are 25 signs that the financial collapse is rapidly getting closer….

#1 The official U.S. unemployment rate has not been beneath 9 percent since April 2009.

#2 According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are currently 6.3 million vacant homes in the United States that are either for sale or for rent.

#3 It is being projected that the U.S. trade deficit with China could hit 270 billion dollars for the entire year of 2010.

#4 Back in 2000, 7.2 percent of blue collar workers were either unemployed or underemployed. Today that figure is up to 19.5 percent.

#5 The Chinese government has accumulated approximately $2.65 trillion in total foreign exchange reserves. They have drained this wealth from the economies of other nations (such as the United States) and instead of reinvesting all of it they are just sitting on much of it. This is creating tremendous imbalances in the global economy.

#6 Since the year 2000, we have lost 10% of our middle class jobs. In the year 2000 there were approximately 72 million middle class jobs in the United States but today there are only about 65 million middle class jobs.

#7 The United States now employs about the same number of people in manufacturing as it did back in 1940. Considering the fact that we had 132 million people living in this country in 1940 and that we have well over 300 million people living in this country today, that is a very sobering statistic.

#8 According to CoreLogic, U.S. housing prices have now declined for three months in a row.

#9 The average rate on a 30 year fixed rate mortgage soared 11 basis points just this past week. As mortgage rates continue to push higher it is going to make it even more difficult for American families to afford homes.

#10 22.5 percent of all residential mortgages in the United States were in negative equity as of the end of the third quarter of 2010.

#11 The U.S. monetary base has more than doubled since the beginning of the most recent recession.

#12 U.S. Treasury yields have been rising steadily during the 4th quarter of 2010 and recently hit a six-month high.

#13 Incoming governor Jerry Brown is scrambling to find $29 billion more to cut from the California state budget. The following quote from Brown about the desperate condition of California state finances is not going to do much to inspire confidence in California’s financial situation around the globe….

“We’ve been living in fantasy land. It is much worse than I thought. I’m shocked.”

#14 24.3 percent of the residents of El Centro, California are currently unemployed.

#15 The average home in Merced, California has declined in value by 63 percent over the past four years.

#16 Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has come up with a new way to save money. He wants to cut 20 percent of Detroit off from essential social services such as road repairs, police patrols, functioning street lights and garbage collection.

#17 The second most dangerous city in the United States – Camden, New Jersey – is about to lay off about half its police in a desperate attempt to save money.

#18 In 2010, 55 percent of Americans between the ages of 60 and 64 were in the labor market. Ten years ago, that number was just 47 percent. More older Americans than ever find that they have to keep working just to survive.

#19 Back in 1998, the United States had 25 percent of the world’s high-tech export market and China had just 10 percent. Ten years later, the United States had less than 15 percent and China’s share had soared to 20 percent.

#20 The U.S. government budget deficit increased to a whopping $150.4 billion last month, which represented the biggest November budget deficit on record.

#21 The U.S. government is somehow going to have to roll over existing debt and finance new debt that is equivalent to 27.8 percent of GDP in 2011.

#22 The United States had been the leading consumer of energy on the globe for about 100 years, but this past summer China took over the number one spot.

#23 According to an absolutely stunning new poll, 40 percent of all U.S. doctors plan to bail out of the profession over the next three years.

#24 As 2007 began, there were just over 1 million Americans that had been unemployed for half a year or longer. Today, there are over 6 million Americans that have been unemployed for half a year or longer.

#25 All over the United States, local governments have begun instituting “police response fees”. For example, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has come up with a plan under which a fee of $365 would be charged if police are called to respond to an automobile accident where no injuries are involved. If there are injuries as a result of the crash that is going to cost extra.

We Are Living In The End Times

Here is the latest "teaching" doing the rounds in the Church of Jesus Christ. Serious stuff.. known as Open Theism.

Jesus said, when He comes He doubted that He would even find faith on the earth! (Luke 18:8). People in the Last Days are prone to believing whatever their itching ears love. (2 Timothy 4:3,4).

1. God's greatest attribute is love. Elevated above His other attributes and used to interpret God in such a way as to be a cosmic gentleman.

2. Man's free will is truly free and unrestricted sinful nature but is equally able to make choices between different options.

3. God does not know the future - because it does not exist, orbecause God chooses to not know the future..

4. God takes risks.Because God does not know the future exhaustively, He must take risks with people whose future free will choices are unknowable.

5. God learns.Because God does not know the future exhaustively, He learns as the realities of th e future occur.

6. God makes mistakes.Because God does not know all things and because He is dealing with free will creatures (whose future choices He does not know), God can make mistakes in dealing with people. Therefore, God would change His plans accordingly.

7. God changes His mind.God can change His mind on issues depending on what He learns and what He discovers people do. Usually, God's change of mind is due to Him being surprised by something for which He didn't plan or expect.

Scoffers in the Last Days

Noah spent 120 years building his ark ... and people scoffed right until the moment the floods came and washed them all away.

Jesus said it would be just like "the days of Noah" when He returns. People will be concerned with their daily lives and totally unconcerned about the calamity about to befall them. The words of the prophets will, once again, fall on deaf ears.
Nearly two thousand years ago, Peter wrote that this would be so. Those who scoff are merely fulfilling prophecy and, in fact, become a prophetic sign themselves pointing to the soon coming of the Lord.

"First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." (2 Peter 3:3,4).

Mockers have forgotten that the Lord always fulfils His Word. He spoke "in the beginning" and the worlds came into being. He spoke again and floods destroyed the earth. His same Word is preserving the world right now for the Final Judgment.

"But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men." (2 Peter 3:5-7).

As far as God is concerned, time is but a fleeting moment. It is like a puff of smoke in the light of Eternity. "Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes" (James 4:14).

God has graciously given men this time in which to repent and turn to Him because of His great love for mankind. Our merciful God is not willing that anyone should perish without hope. It may be possible to live without Christ in this world, but to die without Him is the greatest of all tragedies.

"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:8,9).

The Bible confirms that Jesus is coming back again

It is estimated that there are more than three hundred prophecies in the Bible concerning the first coming of Christ ... and about eight times as many concerning His Second Coming. The New Testament mentions it at least 318 times in 210 chapters and there can be no doubt that saints throughout the ages have always "looked for His appearing".

This is no new doctrine dreamed up by some feverish theological brain. Even that Old Testament saint, Enoch — just seven generations from Adam — looked way beyond his time and prophesied concerning the Second Coming of Christ. This godly man, who walked so close to the Lord that he just walked right into His Presence one day (Gen. 5:22), said: "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints" (Jude verse 14 KJV).

The inspired Scriptures tell us that the Lord Jesus Christ will return personally. "This same Jesus" (Acts 1:11) will come again in a literal and visible manner.

Genuine Christians will be the first to meet Him.

"Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words." (1 Thess. 4:13-18).

We notice that those who love the Lord, and have died before His return, will come back with Him. The atoms that made up their bodies will be called together and they will receive their resurrection bodies at exactly the same time as believers currently living on the earth. Together ... we shall be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. This "catching up" of the saints is what is known as "The Rapture of the Church". This is the first phase of the Second Coming. Those who do not know the Lord will not see Him at this time. Their turn is coming.

The second phase occurs when the Lord — together with all His saints — returns and stands physically on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem ... the very place He left this earth after He came the first time. Zechariah 14:4 tells us about it "On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south."

It will happen suddenly and unexpectedly as far as the world is concerned. "Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labour pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape" (1 Thess. 5:1-3).

Everybody will know about it — from the East to the West. "For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man." (Mat 24:27).

Revelation 1:7 gives us some more detail: "Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen."

The sight of the Glorious Resurrected Christ will shock this world. "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory." (Matt. 24:30). Terrified, those who once scoffed and mocked will call out to the mountains and the rocks: "Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!" (Rev. 16:6).

There is a Day coming when "at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Phil. 2:10,11).

When Christ returns, every knee will bow — willingly or unwillingly. What a joy to bow before Him now and enjoy wonderful fellowship with the Risen Lord while we wait for His Return.

Even so, come, Lord Jesus! Amen.

World events and the Return of Jesus

The Bible is a prophetic book. It speaks of historical events in the lives of people and nations with a certainty and clarity that is unique.

Thousands of years before they existed, in many cases, the destinies of individuals and nations were charted with precision and history bears out the accuracy of those predictions. Its prophecies are being fulfilled right up to the present time and we read about them daily in our newspapers.

This is not surprising when one considers the amazing miracle that we call "The Bible".

The Bible is actually a collection of sixty-six books, written over a period of 1600 years, spanning 60 generations. Many of the approximately 40 authors involved did not know each other or enjoy the privilege of reading one another's work. They came from all walks of life and wrote at different times, on three continents (Asia, Africa and Europe), in three languages (Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek), and about hundreds of different and often controversial subjects.

When these inspired writings were collated and compiled into one Book the signature of the Almighty Eternal God could be clearly seen. There is one underlying theme from Genesis in the Old Testament to the book of Revelation in the New Testament — the coming of the Saviour to pay the price of sin ... and His Return to bring a climax to this world's history.

The "holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus" (2 Timothy 3:15) also tells us that "Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him" (Heb 9:28 ).

Those who have seriously investigated the Bible's prophetic, scientific and historical accuracy are left in no doubt that the predictions concerning the Return of Jesus Christ to our world will be just as precisely fulfilled. It cannot be otherwise.

World events — the prophesied "Signs of the Times" — should make mankind sit up and take note. Everything is going according to the Divine Plan and His Return is on schedule. Sadly, however, the comment of Jesus rings true even in our generation. "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the SIGNS OF THE TIMES" (Mat 16:2-3).

Exciting days

We are living in one of the most exciting periods of this world's history. Time, as we know it, is rapidly drawing to a close as the COMING OF THE LORD draws near. All over the world people are aware that something is happening.

This is the age of fulfilment of Biblical prophecy and, for the discerning believer, our local newspapers bear testimony to that fact daily. The end of the world is nearer than we realize.

Before 1900 very few commentaries were written on prophetical books like Daniel and Revelation. It was not easy in those days to understand, for example, how something lodged in the human body would enable a person to "buy and sell" (Rev. 13:16,17) ... or the possibility of the whole world simultaneously viewing an event in Jerusalem (Rev. 11:9-12).

The Old Testament prophet, Daniel, wrote that end-time prophecy would be more clearly understood as knowledge increases in the last days and it is an exciting fact.

"But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased ... for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end." (Dan. 12:4,9 KJV).

Someone has said that if this world’s history could be condensed into a twenty-four hour period, all the major events and discoveries will have happened in the last 24 hours. This is one of the major signs of His Soon Return.

As historical events unfold THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES are evident for all who will see. Paul wrote in 1 Thess. 5:4 "But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief."

The Lord Jesus Christ put it this way: "And when these things begin to come to pass, then LOOK UP, and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh." (Luke 21:28).

Messiah is Coming

This banner was placed in buildings around Jerusalem by Israelites. It shares a strong message to the world in Hebrew that "Messiah is coming soon." And He is. Even sooner than most expect.

The signs of the times are all around us. Jesus said, "When these things begin to happen, LOOK UP and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near" - Luke 21:28.

Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
