The truth is, it comes down to a matter of personal preference. Macs developed a comprehensive suite of developer tools with their OS 10 which, if used properly, can help you get to the moon. PCs have always been oriented toward programming; in fact, the DOS/Windows interface was developed mainly as a way to stay competitive with the user friendly Mac interface. However, many programmers have complained that Macs are slower than PCs when it comes down to executing large amounts of freshly programmed code.

Personal Use
If you enjoy playing video games in your spare time, buying a PC is probably the best choice. This is partly because PCs are easier to hook up to auxiliary equipment like television sets or other devices. Although USB ports are evenly distributed between Macs and PC, the higher data transfer portals of a Mac do not always adapt easily to most conventional televisions, making it difficult to quickly relay information between the two devices, whereas the higher data transfer portals of a PC are usually very adaptable to auxiliary devices.
If, on the other hand, you prefer to design or develop creative projects in your personal time, Macs are a much better choice. Because Apple has invested so much time in making the user interface incredibly easy to use, spending time creating music or drawing or editing movies becomes less about the computer and more about the activity; you forget you are using a computer, and can instead focus on the act of creation. PCs have a more rigid approach; it’s hard to forget that you’re on a computer.

Web Hosting Reviews -Best web Host -Linux and Windows

<fieldset class="item_box"> <legend style="font-size: 18px; height: 30px;">Web Resources, Design Inspiration,...</legend>

Category » Web Design/Web Builder

view profile »

Web blog and online community of design inspirations and great collection of javascript/jquery/photoshop/css tutorials.
</fieldset><fieldset class="item_box"> <legend style="font-size: 18px; height: 30px;">Web Hosting Services from DQCenter -...</legend>

Category » UNIX Web Hosting

view profile »

Double Quality Center provides Web Hosting Services for personal, small - medium enterprise businesses.

How to Protect Your Computer From Viruses

With millions of computer users browsing the web at any given time, there are plenty of targets for malicious coders. While computer experts don’t always know why coders choose to build harmful computer programs, the fact is that it happens all the time. Computer viruses can steal personal information, interfere with normal operations, attract spam and even shut down your computer’s hard drive. Protecting your computer is critical for browsing success.

Start With the Basics

Most computer systems come with security features already in place. For example, the Windows operating system is packaged with Microsoft Windows Security Center. When you first open, boot up and register a new computer, you should make sure that this program is functioning. It will give basic protection against spyware, viruses and malware. In addition, a basic firewall is built into this program, providing additional protection and stops for potentially harmful programs. Upon activation, don’t be surprised if your security system needs immediate updating. Software that protects your computer needs regular and consistent

updating to stay useful. Viruses are constantly being generated and the several-month lag between when your computer was made and when you first started using it can mean that the database the security system is loaded with is severely out-of-date.

Upgrade to Meet Your Needs
Many people operate computers for a long time with only basic protection in place. However, heavy computer users or those who have risky browsing habits can sometimes benefit from upgrading their virus, spyware and malware protection, as well as using a fuller-featured firewall; this is especially important if you use a networked computer system. Basic or free virus protection will still scan and update for viruses. Paid programs, however, offer more features, including ease-of-use and convenience features. The most important thing is to verify the publisher and make sure you are getting what is promised. Most well-known virus protection programs, such as AVG and Norton Security, have reviews available to help you make your choice.

Learn About Spyware Risks
Spyware creates risks that many computer users are not aware of. If you are only protecting against viruses, you could be leaving your computer open to damage. Most people are familiar with spyware that initiates and attracts annoying ad programs. Spyware, however, can be much more malicious as well. Your shopping habits can be tracked by spyware. While not exactly harmful, some people consider this a breach of privacy. The worst spyware programs interfere with normal operations and can even track what you type, sending personal information to people who want to steal your identity. Some spyware redirects your browser to different web addresses, increasing your risks of virus infection and fraud.

How Viruses Work
The main difference between spyware and viruses is how they are spread. A virus reproduces itself and attaches to any document that the computer sends, while spyware can be stored as a cookie or tracking code. A virus is most often found traveling with a piece of computer software, such as a document, picture or piece of music. When dealing with email, it is necessary to open an attachment to become infected, indicating that, in most cases, the computer user must somehow invite the malicious software to replicate on their system. Of course, most people have no idea it is there or what is happening. Some of the sneakiest and most harmful viruses actually masquerade as virus protection software, making them extremely hard to detect. Because of this, it’s crucial to be familiar with your particular virus protection program and know what it looks like and what the normal scripts and prompts are during operation. Viruses do some of the same things that spyware does; they just accomplish it differently. An active virus can steal personal information, generate ads or shut down your system, including the very virus protection programs that can fix the issue.

Take Steps For Protection
Like anything, the best way to protect against viruses is to be educated. Become familiar with what malicious software may look like. If you get an email or are asked to download a file that you don’t recognize or looks suspicious, do your homework. Research virus protection, spyware, malware and firewall programs and use them to their fullest capacity. Set the software to update and scan automatically to make sure that the system is constantly monitored. In addition, regularly check on the databases published by various virus protection services; many will provide lists of symptoms and risks, as well as the standard way the file gains access for no cost to the public.

Systems Engineering:

Systems Engineering:
"The top level process of engineering a system to meet overallrequirements."
Software Reengineering:
"The examination and alteration of an existing subject system toreconstitute it in a new form. This process encompasses a combination of sub-processes such as reverse engineering, restructuring, redocumentation, forward engineering, and retargeting."
Aside: The new form of the subject system could be structured code - from "spaghetti" code; design information in graphical form - from input code; or the translation of the source code from one language to another while preserving the system's functionality.

Reverse Engineering:
"The engineering process of understanding, analyzing, and abstracting the system to a new form at a higher abstraction level."
Aside: This higher abstraction level is understood within the context of the software system's lifecycle. The classic waterfall development lifecycle calls for requirements/specifications followed by design, code, test, implement, and maintain. Thus, if we start with the code, reverse engineering will extract design information which is at a higher abstraction level in the lifecycle.

Forward Engineering:
"Forward engineering is the set of engineering activities that consume the products and artifacts derived from legacy software and new requirements to produce a new target system."
Aside: Notice the difference between software engineering and forward engineering. A hot topic within software reengineering circles is whether we even need the term "forward engineering" since this implies the normal development lifecycle sequence of events. If this was the extent of forward engineering, then forward engineering and software engineering can be considered identical terms. But we define forward engineering as using the output of reengineering. This implies that some reengineering must have occurred prior to the forward engineering activity. For example, the most common forward engineering activity involves the generation of source code from design information which was captured by a previous reverse engineering activity.

Data Reengineering:
"Tools that perform all the reengineering functions associated with source code (reverse engineering, forward engineering, translation, redocumentation, restructuring/normalization, and retargeting) but act upon data files."
Aside: As in source code reengineering, data reengineering must have a goal or target configuration. We call this a target meta model. For example, relational data bases (RDBs) are a desirable target meta model (currently, less than 5% of all data files are RDBs). Data reengineering tools help to translate flat files and hierarchical files to RDB's. Each reengineering activity for source code has a corresponding activity in data reengineering. Reverse engineering of data captures the design information of data files. Restructuring data could normalize that data. Data translation can move data files from a flat file configuration to a relational data base. And retargeting data files assists the migration of data to new platforms.

Data name rationalization (DNR):
Is a special case of data reengineering. DNR tools enforce uniform naming conventions across all software systems. DoD studies predict a 100 to 1 reduction in data names if such names were standardized and controlled across all services [Connall 92]. As Lt. General Peter Kind remarked at STC 94 "standard data is as important as standard equipment".
Redocumentation:
"The process of analyzing the system to produce support documentation in various forms including users manuals and reformatting the systems' source code listings."
Aside: Sometimes, the output of reverse engineering is thought to be the same as redocumentation. After all, when reverse engineering captures the design information from the legacy source code, the resulting information usually includes data flow diagrams, control flow charts, etc. The difference between redocumentation and reverse engineering is that the redocumentation usually generates system documentation according to a standard. For example, there are redocumentation tools that create documentation for DoD-STD-2167A - a DoD software documentation standard.

A special case of redocumentation tools are reformatting tools. Otherwise known as "pretty printers", reformatters make source code indentation, bolding, capitalization, etc. consistent thus making the source code more readable.

Restructuring:
"The engineering process of transforming the system from one representation form to another at the same relative abstraction level, while preserving the subject system's external functional behavior."
Aside: Recall that reverse engineering can extract design information from source code. Design is a higher level of abstraction than code (ref. most lifecycle charts). Restructuring code leaves the system at the same abstraction level (i.e. the coding level) but radically rearranges the source code to fit a new paradigm such as structured code or object-oriented code.

Retargeting:
"The engineering process of transforming and hosting or porting the existing system in a new configuration."
Aside: The new configuration could be a new hardware platform, a new operating system, or a CASE platform. A good rule of thumb is that if more than 20-30% of the software must be changed during a retargeting project, then redeveloping the software specifically for the new platform might be a better strategy.

Source Code Translation:
"Transformation of source code from one language to another or from one version of a language to another version of the same language (e.g., going from COBOL-74 to COBOL-85)."
Business Process Reengineering:
"The fundamental rethinking and radical redesign of business processes to achieve dramatic improvements in critical, contemporary measures of performance, such as cost, quality, service, and speed." Hammer and Champy
Aside: Tools that support BPR include process modelers (and simulators) that allow organizations to run what-if scenarios on their key business processes. Other BPR tools enable an organization to set goals and gather information about current or projected processes.
The MasterQuest VoIP solution is part of NetTest's OSS solution family based on MasterQuest, designed specifically for telecommunication network carriers and service providers to optimize their business performance and increase revenues

MasterQuest VoIP is a complete service assurance solution for IP networks, combining troubleshooting with key performance indicators to support the management of suppliers' service level agreements. The incorporation of psyVoIP will enable not only real-time assessment of the end-user experience, but also rapid diagnosis of customer-affecting network problems, allowing efficient prioritization of network maintenance.
"As demand for VoIP grows, managing voice quality and understanding end-user experience is a top concern among service providers. The decision to integrate real-time voice quality monitoring and diagnostic tools into our VoIP solution was obvious, and Psytechnics is second to none when it comes to voice quality," said Mr. Weber, vice president and head of the Systems Business Unit at NetTest. "Psytechnics has a proven track record, having developed the ITU standard for voice quality assessment, and its technology is a perfect fit for the current market demand."

"When monitoring the quality of a VoIP network, service providers need both a consolidated view of overall network performance and constant awareness of individual subscriber experience," said John Winchester, CEO of Psytechnics "The pairing of psyVoIP and MasterQuest allows NetTest to offer a complete monitoring and service assurance system that unifies a network and service-centric reporting, with customer-centric reporting."

psyVoIP is a passive voice quality measurement solution that monitors live customer calls and rates the perceived quality on a MOS (mean opinion score) scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest. In addition to quality metrics, psyVoIP provides a range of diagnostics information so customer-affecting problems are identified and rectified as quickly as possible. psyVoIP's voice quality assessment capabilities are based on Psytechnics' PESQ, the ITU-T P.862 standard for objective speech quality assessment. Psytechnics is also involved in the current development of an ITU standard (P.VQT) for measuring quality in VoIP networks.

COPY AND PASTE IN COMMAND PROMPT OF WINDOWS 7

COPY AND PASTE IN COMMAND PROMPT OF WINDOWS 7

You can copy text from and paste in Command Prompt window. The process is a little different depending on how the QuickEdit Mode option is configured.
You configure QuickEdit Mode on the Options tab of the Command Prompt Properties window, shown in Figure 1-6. You can access this window by right-clicking the title bar of the Command Prompt window and choosing Properties.
The QuickEdit Mode option changes the way that you can cut text from and paste text into the command line. The Insert Mode option below it works just like the Insert key of the keyboard. It allows you to insert characters into the command line when enabled, or overwrite characters in the command line when disabled.

TIP: If you want your changes to the Options tab to apply any time the Command
Prompt window is open instead of applying only to the current session, right-click the
title bar of the Command Prompt window, click Defaults, and then click the Options
tab (if it’s not already displayed) and make your changes.

Copy from the Command Prompt Window

How you copy text from the command prompt window depends on whether QuickEdit
Mode is enabled or disabled.

1.)QuickEdit Mode is enabled (checked)-Use the mouse to select text, and then
press Enter to copy the selected text.

2.)QuickEdit Mode is not enabled (unchecked)-Right-click in the Command Prompt
window and click Mark. Use the mouse to select text, and then press Enter to copy the selected text.

NOTE: Both of these methods copy the text to the Clipboard. You can then paste the
text into any other application, such as Notepad or Microsoft Word.

Paste in Command Prompt Window
You can paste Paste in Command Prompt Window by following method:-
1.)QuickEdit Mode is enabled (checked)-Right-click in the Command Prompt window and the
data is pasted where you clicked. Caution: If the pasted data includes a new line from the Enter key, you’ll execute the command as soon as you paste it.
2.)QuickEdit Mode is not enabled (unchecked)-Right-click in the Command Prompt window and click Paste.
NOTE: If you copy the carriage return with the command, the carriage return will be
pasted into the Command Prompt window. In other words, when you paste the command,
it will execute.

The Best Computer Tips and Tricks: Firefox 2

Redirect Search Results
You can control where you see your search results. Type about:config into your location bar and find "browser.search.openintab", then double click to make it "true." Now when you use the search bar, your results will pop up in a separate tab instead of taking you away from your current page.

Disable Window Resizing

Web pages that resize windows drive some people up the wall. To fix that, go to Tools > Options, and open the Content tab. Click on the Advanced button next to "Enable JavaScript," then deselect the check box that allows scripts to "Move or resize existing windows."

Choose a Tab
As with IE, Ctrl+Tab will let you cycle through open tabs in Firefox. But if you want to go to a specific tab without using the mouse, use the Ctrl key and the number of the tab's position—Ctrl+1, for example, will open the first tab, Ctrl+2 the second, and so on.

Browse Without a Mouse
Tired of using the mouse? Ctrl+L will move you to Firefox's location bar, while Ctrl+K will move you to the search bar. (When you're there, hold Ctrl and use the up or down arrow keys to toggle the default search engine.)

Open multiple sites at startup
If you want to open multiple Web sites when you start Firefox, go to Tools > Options. Under the Startup section on the Main tab, you'll see the Home Page field. Enter the sites you want to open in this manner:
www.computershopper.com | www.collegebuyingguide.com.

Mousing Around
Your mouse gives you more browsing control than you might think. If you have a scroll wheel button, clicking it on a hyperlink will open it up in a new tab, while clicking it on a tab will close it. If you hold down the Shift key while scrolling, you can move backward or forward through your browsing history.

Quickly Cross-reference
Ever found something in an online article you instantly wanted more information about? Search for that information easily by highlighting the text, dragging it to the search bar, and pressing Enter. Firefox will search for that text automatically.

Delete Inaccurate URLs
If you've ever mistyped a Web site's address and then seen your mistake pop up whenever you retype the site's name, just highlight the site in the history and press Shift+Delete to get rid of it for good.

Stay Stealthy
If you don't want sites to know where you're coming from, type about:config into the location bar and then find the network.http.sendRefererHeader record. Double click on it, and change the "2" value to "0" to prevent Web sites from seeing your referrer information.

Get More Viewing Space
Want to maximize the Web-site view in your browser window? Then make your icons smaller. Just go to View > Toolbars > Customize and check the box next to "Use Small Icons."

Quick URL Fill-in
If you type a site's address without the usual ".com" or "www" and press Ctrl+Enter, Firefox will fill in the rest of the URL for you.

Give Your Bookmarks Keywords
To assign a keyword to a bookmark, simply right-click on it and select Properties. Write a word in the keyword field, and now when you type the word into the location bar, you'll automatically go to that site.

Curb Firefox's RAM Appetite
Firefox was once famous for how light it was on system resources. With each new update, however, it seems be become a bigger and bigger memory hog. Rein Firefox in a little by limiting the amount of memory it uses. Type about:config in the address bar and locate "browser.cache.disk.capacity." Normally, it's set to "50000," but you can lower that number if you find Firefox is using too much system memory.

Cleaner Google File Searches
Searching for multimedia files on Google can result in a lot of spammy results. An effective—if clunky—way to minimize getting such results is to type intitle:"index.of"(xxx|yyy)zzzz -html -htm -php into the search bar, where "xxx|yyy" are the types of files you want to find (such as "mp3|avi") and "zzzz" being the name of the files you want to find.

The Best Computer The Best Computer Tips and Tricks: Wireless Home Networking

Fix Connectivity Issues
It sounds crazy, but 95 percent of all Internet connectivity problems can be solved by power-cycling both the router and the modem. Turn them both off, and then turn the modem back on first. Once its "sync" or signal light comes on, turn on your router.

Use Encryption
You've probably heard this before, but it bears repeating: Always enable your router's wireless security! Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption is the oldest (and weakest) form of security; the newer (and stronger) Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) and WPA-2 are the best protection available today for home users.

Update Your Router's Firmware
All routers include internal read-only chips with embedded instructions that can be updated by the manufacturer. Router manufacturers generally update a product's firmware to increase performance as well as to resolve bugs and security issues, so it's wise to keep your router's firmware up-to-date. Check the manufacturer's Web site for the latest updates.

Boost Your Wireless Signal
If walls and distance are causing wireless signal degradation, you can do a few things to boost it. Move your router to higher ground—the signal radiates downward. You can also try a signal extender (or repeater), which boosts the signal. Finally, high-gain antennas will work, but they only focus the signal in one direction.

Change Admin Password
Every router has a well-known default password that's used to access the router's browser-based configuration page. Most setup wizards will make you change this password, but not all do. If not, be sure to change it yourself to prevent unwanted hangers-on from changing your network's settings.

Go Back to Factory Settings
If you've lost or forgotten your router's login credentials, you can get around this predicament by resetting the router to its factory settings. Do this by holding down the button on the back of it for 30 seconds. Next, look in the manual for the default user name and password, and then change them on your router's browser-based configuration page.

Disable SSID Broadcast
Unless you disable it, your router broadcasts its service set identifier (SSID)—the name of your network—which allows your neighbors to see (and attempt to gain access to) your network. Instead, disable broadcasting, making the network appear as "SSID not broadcast." Access the unnamed network by typing in the SSID name when prompted.

Change the Default SSID
Change your pre-defined, default SSID—leaving it as "Linksys," for example, tells the world that you haven't configured your router, which invites attackers.

Filter by MAC Address
Every piece of networking gear includes a unique "fingerprint" called a media access control, or MAC, address. You can configure your router to filter connections using these addresses so that only your computers can connect to your network. Most routers will show you connected devices, so adding an adapter's MAC address is a one-click process.

Step Up to 5GHz
The majority of today's networks operate in the crowded 2.4GHz frequency range, which is shared by microwaves, cordless phones, and other home networks. To avoid possible interference, many new routers are capable of broadcasting at 5GHz, which has 23 wide-open channels as opposed to 2.4GHz's three non-overlapping channels.

Limit Your Number of DHCP Clients
Most people use their router as a DHCP server; when clients connect, the router dynamically assigns IP addresses from a large pool of addresses. Limiting that list to the number of clients in your home, however, will help prevent interlopers from hopping onto your network.

Use Your Router's Firewall
Two features make most hardware firewalls more powerful than software firewalls: stateful packet inspection (SPI) and network address translation (NAT). SPI examines packets' content and behavior before granting access, and NAT hides all PCs connected to the router from the Internet, "translating" their IP addresses into private ones that are unreachable from outside the firewall.

Change Your Channel
Wireless B and G (and some N) routers operate at the 2.4GHz frequency, which only has three non-overlapping channels: 1, 6 and 11. By default, your router will most likely be using one of these channels, and the bad news is so your neighbors' routers as well. If you experience dropped connections, sluggish performance or both, a good first step is to switch the channel. If it's set to channel 1, go to 11. If it's set to 6, try either 1 or 11 for best results.

Let Windows Control Your Wireless Networks
If a network adapter's software takes control of your wireless network, it can be difficult to put Windows back in charge. First, click Start, then Run, then type services.msc. Scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration and start the service. Right-click your wireless connection, select view available networks, and then click advanced settings on the left. Click the wireless networks tab, and check "Use Windows to Configure my wireless network settings."

Disable File Sharing in Public
If you're in a public place with a Net connection, it's a good idea to disable File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks. In the properties of your network adapter, uncheck the appropriate box. It's also a good idea to switch your notebook's wireless radio off if you aren't using it.

Google Search Tricks:

Well let me tell You what actually google tricks mean. Very useful when you come across a strange word when writing a post. I use this as a google dictionary. example : (define computer)

info: - The google info operator will list the sets of information that Google has from a specific website (i.e. info:http://hack2007.50webs.com)

site: - This google operator can be used to see the number of indexed pages on your site (i.e.site:www.hack2007.50webs.com). Alternative it can also be used to search for information inside a specific site or class of sites.

link: - This google link operator allows you to find backlinks pointing to your site. Unfortunately the count is not updated frequently and not all backlinks are shown

allinurl: - Using this Google operator will limit the search to results that contain the desired keywords on the URL structure. (i.e. allinurl:dailyblogtips)

fileformat: - Useful Google operator for finding specific file formats. You will notice that WINWORD.EXE will be somewhere at the top, using multiple MBs of memory.

3). Now switch to Word and simply minimize it. (Don't use the Minimize All Windows option of the task bar).

4). Now go back to the Windows Task Manager and see where WINWORD.EXE is listed. Most probably you will not find it at the top. You will typically have to scroll to the bottom of the list to find Word. Now check out the amount of RAM it is using. Surprised? The memory utilization has reduced by a huge amount.

5). Minimize each application that you are currently not working on by clicking on the Minimize button & you can increase the amount of available RAM by a substantial margin. Depending upon the number and type of applications you use together, the difference can be as much as 50 percent of extra RAM.

In any multitasking system, minimizing an application means that it won't be utilized by the user right now.

Tips for Speeding Up Your PC
Few things are as frustrating as dealing with a slow, sluggish computer. When a computer is brand new, it works wonderfully well. Over time, though, its performance can slowly begin to worsen. This happens for a number of reasons, but the biggest culprits are things like spyware, adware and other computer threats that are unwittingly downloaded along with other content while online. You don’t have to download thousands of MP3s, movies or other items to experience these problems, either – nobody is immune to them. Instead of
accepting the situation, there are plenty of techniques and strategies that you can use to make it better – a few of the best ones are outlined below.

Strategy #1: Clean Your Computer’s Windows Registry
The biggest cause of slow, sluggish PC performance is errors and problems within its Windows registry. Adware, spyware and other threats usually target the registry, damaging or misplacing important files within it. When it comes to PC cleaning, a daily Windows registry cleaning should be at the top of your list of priorities. However, this should never be done manually – there are too many opportunities for major errors that could seriously damage your PC’s operating system. Instead, invest in a high-quality Windows registry cleanup program and configure it to run once per day – you won’t believe the difference that it makes.

Strategy #2: Remove Unneeded Files
Every time you log on to the Internet or otherwise use your computer, temporary files are generated. They are usually only needed once; however, they don’t disappear on their own. Instead, they accumulate over time until they are cluttering up your computer’s file system and affecting its performance. While it’s possible to remove these files one-by-one, it’s much easier and quicker to use a PC cleaning tool that’s designed for the purpose. Try to do so about one time per week to keep your computer humming along with ease.

Strategy #3: Remove Unneeded Programs
Like many people, you probably download and try out many different programs each month. How many of them do you actually end up using on a regular basis? Chances are, not very many of them. By getting into the habit of uninstalling unused and unneeded programs, you can keep your computer’s file system a lot less cluttered. In turn, your PC’s performance will improve dramatically. You can optimize your computer in this way by using its Add/Remove Programs feature. Its location varies by operating system, but you should be able to find it somewhere in the Control Panel.

Strategy #4: Empty the Recycle Bin
When you click “delete” on a file or a program, it doesn’t go away for good – not immediately, anyway. Instead, it sits in a kind of purgatory in your computer’s Recycle Bin. As things pile up in the Recycle Bin, your computer can start exhibiting some very annoying problems. If sluggish startups and frequent crashes are occurring with increasing frequency – and your computer’s recycle bin is very full – go ahead and empty it. From then on, get into the habit of doing so about one time per week. This small but important strategy can make a huge difference.

Strategy #5: Perform a Disk Defragmentation
Windows isn’t very efficient when it comes to storing files. It actually splits them up, depositing them into whatever spaces are available. The more spaced apart the pieces of a file are, the harder your computer has to work to make them run. The Windows disk defragmentation system tune-up utility works to piece all of those files back together again. The process is a long one, though, and only needs to be done about four times per year. Set it up to run automatically once every three months. By doing so, you’ll be able to keep your computer running in tiptop shape.
When it comes to keeping your computer running optimally, small but regular maintenance is the best way to go. Protecting your PC only does so much; even the most careful Internet users in the world unintentionally download malicious software from time to time. By using basic system tune-up tools, cleaning your computer’s Windows registry regularly, performing regular file-cleaning maintenance and otherwise optimizing your PC, you should be able to keep it in like-new condition for a lot longer. Even if your computer has been performing slowly for some time, beginning this regimen is sure to produce results. In the end, you’ll be able to enjoy a computer that flies along – instead of one that spins its wheels.

Turn ON/OFF Num Lock on Startup........ on your Keyboard

Most of standard keyboards come with a small numeric keypad which identified by the numbers from 0 to 9. However, this numeric keypad is also served for some other functions such as "Page Up", "Page Down", "End", "Home", etc... depending on which mode of the "Num Lock" is being used.
Many Windows users find this numeric keypad useful to type the numbers faster. But oopps... after hitting a several keys on the numeric keypad, you recognize the outcomes are not what you expected. Then you recognize the "Num Lock" mode is "OFF", so you just need to switch it on, and... start over your typing! The bad news is, by default, Windows turns the Num Lock off; however, the good news is
, you can configure Windows to turn this Num Lock ON so that whenever you mean "number", you really get a number.
Read on, you'll get the details how to set Windows to keep the Num Lock status "ON" as default. In fact, you will need to make a small change on your Windows Registry to turn the Num Lock ON everytime Windows starts up.
IMPORTANT This article will guide to some steps to modify your Windows Registry. Stop if you're not familiar with the Windows Registry. Making a wrong change on the Windows Registry could cause critical problems to your computer.
Proceed at your own risks
This tip modifies the Windows Registry. So be aware and careful when following the steps. Damage the Windows Registry might damage your Windows.

Open the "Registry Editor" ("Start" >> "Run", then type "regedit" and Enter).

Expand to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard\

Within the keyboard folder, you should have a string value named "InitialKeyboardIndicators" with a value of 0, 1, or 2.

Double-click on this string value "InitialKeyboardIndicators" and edit the value to what you want. Below is the explaination of the values:
0: Num Lock is turned OFF on startup
1: Disable Num Lock
2: Num Lock is turned ON on startup

Sending postcards was one of my favorite holiday activities.

Do you still keep old postcards?

The first thing I had in mind after arriving at my destination was to make the list of friends, then to choose the best postcard for each of them. Then, there was the big excitement of writing creative texts. It was so much fun! I wonder if there are still people who send postcards these days, when we stay in touch with our friends via mobile phones, Facebook, email, Twitter and other such “miracles” that made the world shrink. Looking at souvenir
stands wherever I go, I see people buying postcards, so I assume that most of them are sending them and not just keeping them for themselves.
Anyway, if you are still a fan of postcards, here are a few tips to make them as memorable as possible:
1. The image on the card should have a special meaning for the person it’s addressed to. Don’t just choose photos of touristic “must-sees”, go for more creativity, figure out what your friend would get most excited about.
2. The text needs to be creative and fun. If all you can write is “Greetings from such and such place”, your card will probably have a low impact on the recipient. Poems are a nice way to be creative, so try to put together a few rhymes. Rhymes are fun most of the times. If you can’t, do something else. Make up a short story, tell a joke, draw something…
3. The card could have a second use. There are postcards that have the shape of a bookmark. Your friend will probably keep it and use it (well, don’t send this type of card to people you know don’t read too many books or to your Kindle-addicted friends).
Can you think of anything else? How would you write a memorable postcard?

You can connect to your friends and people with similar interests on Google+ and share your knowledge, passion and interests. Already more than 10 million people have joined Google+, and this number is expected to grow exponentially with time. However, to many people’s surprise, the Google+ doesn’t have a search feature, Google’s ubiquitous prowess. However, there are tools available over the web that will help you in doing so.
You can find people who match your interest or your long lost friends whom you wish to establish contact again in two ways:
1. Using websites
a) Find People on Plus:
When we last visited the site it had indexed 14,536,129 people. The homepage displays the profiles of the most popular people on the web including, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Tim O’Reilly and other such noted personalities. What “Find People on Plus” offers you is a variety of filters, which can help you narrow down your search criteria and improves the efficiency of your search. You can search people based on their country, state, city, occupation, employer, education, gender, relationship, and other such parameters.

b) G Peep:
G Peep is another directory that lists Google+ users. You can add yourself to be searchable on G Peep. It helps you in finding people with similar interests. It also has an auto suggest feature like in Google and Facebook, which shows the results as soon as you hit the keyboard.
2. Boolean search on Google
Boolean search involves the use of certain strings that help you find things on search engine, which don’t show using plain English. An example of Boolean search would be searching for your fellow employees. Suppose if you work in Apple, then the string would be:
Site: plus.google.com working at Apple
This will list down all the profiles that are currently employed with Apple Inc. You can use a pipe i.e. “|”, which works like an OR condition in your search criteria. For example, if you are looking for a grocer in New York, Oregon, or New Jersey you would write it as:
Site: plus.google.com “grocer”(New York, Oregon, New Jersey)
Since you are searching user defined non-standardized data, you will have to use your imagination in determining what data he/she may have provided on his/her profile.
Similarly, there are other ways to exploit Google to get what you want; based on your knowledge and creativity you can hijack any data from Google Plus. Another trick is to look for people in already existing social media sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn to retrieve necessary information, and use it as a search parameter on Google.

Few Hidden Tips for On Page SEO Optimization You Ever Wanted to Know

On Page SEO Optimization Few Hidden Tips and Tricks

You have an online business and no body knows it, there’s nobody dropping at your site, and you still think your business will be able to move on and get you some real profit? Well, every sensible webmaster knows that it is absolutely impossible and this is why they take the refuge of SEO or search engine optimization of their sites.

But then, a poorly handled optimization campaign doesn’t do any good and it becomes totally requisite to spend some time to learn all the hidden secrets of the optimization process.
And if this is what you are looking for, you are at the right place.

On going down the page you’ll get to read some of the secret tips for On Page SEO optimization, as the On Page part of your SEO campaign is as important as the Off page part.

First, pick on the basic optimization procedures. It’s true that SEO like any other technology is getting sophisticated day by day, yet you simply cannot ignore those age old basic steps and procedures. So before you start up with all the other sophisticated stuffs, pick up your major keywords, and place them in your Title tag. This lets the search engine robots properly know what your website is about.

The title tag happens to be located in the head gags at the topmost part of your page. And it is generally found that by placing your keywords in your tags you increase the chances of your site or blog being visited by more targeted traffic.

Second, don’t try to fool the search engines or the searchers, this will cost you heavy, and at the end, it will be you who’ll actually be fooled! So make sure that the text that you’ve placed in the Title tag is present in the body of your page. Also, be sure to have the keywords that you have placed in the Title tag in your h1 tag as this will help the readers to known whether they have landed on a right page. This is again liked by the search engines as this prominently announces the relation between your headline and the title of your page.

Third, don’t use the same Title tags on each of the pages of your website. This will prove suicidal for the indexing of your site pages as the presence of same title tags on each of your website page hampers in the proper indexing of the web pages. This happens because the search engine bots assume all the pages with same Titles tags to be the same.

A simple little trick over here can prove quite beneficial. So, simply add your headline in the h1 tag, this will make this headline to be the same as the one you have in your Title tag texts and in this way the search engine robots will be able to know what your page is about.

Fourth, some people are so infatuated with the keyword insertion that they simply don’t see where they are inserting them. Ironically, it does all possible loss instead of doing any good. So, watch out when you are on the verge of over doing with the keyword placement whether in the site content or the Meta tag.

Again, some people think they are over smart and come out to be really stupid by stuffing the Meta tag with useless keywords that have nothing to do with their site content.

The best thing to do is to have your headline included in your Keywords and Description tags just once.

Fifth, your text links title tags are other such place where you can place your keyword. So, simply include your Title tag within the HTML of your text link and have some relevance added to the link and at the same time to the place where you have your link included.

Above mentioned On Page SEO Optimization tips will help you get better results out of your SEO campaign.

How to Prevent Your Laptop Computer from being infected by a Virus

Prevent Your Laptop Computer from being infected by a Virus

If you’ve been using a laptop computer for sometimes now there is every probability it is a very important part of your life and that you will do everything within your power not to lose your files on it. Losing the files on my laptop computer due to a virus can be a catastrophe and as a result of this I have decided to learn the various steps I can take to protect my laptop computer from a virus infection.
I have been using my laptop computer for a very long time now and within this period I’m very happy to say that it has never been infected by a virus. This article will be giving you a few tips on how to protect your laptop computer from being infected by a malicious virus.
Be Extra Careful with How You Use it (what software you install, which drives you install, which sites you visit)

The first step towards protecting your laptop computer from being infected by a virus is by being careful with how you use it. You need to examine your usage to see if it might result in a virus infection for your computer – a major thing you should avoid is installing just any software from anywhere. Make sure you don’t install any software you download from the internet except you trust the provider. It is also important to be careful with which USB disks, external hard disks, CDs, DVDs, and other external drives you use with your computer. Make sure you don’t use anything with your laptop unless you know that it is safe.
Another thing you need to be careful with is which websites you visit. Only visit websites you trust, and whenever your antivirus suspects a website to be malicious make sure you don’t visit it.
Be Proactive by Installing a Great Security Suite (that includes an antivirus, antispyware, internet security and a firewall)
The next thing you should do to protect your laptop from virus infection is to be proactive by installing a great security suite. You will notice that I’m not just telling you to install an antivirus. An antivirus can be very good, but there is a limit to what it can do. You will be able to go very far by installing a complete security suite consisting of an antivirus, an antispyware, an antimalware, a firewall and an internet security suite. Having these things will be a great guard against any virus trying to attack your computer.

Password Protect it to Avoid Multiple Usage
A lot of laptop users these days don’t password protect their computer. They just leave it for any stranger to use without caring about the implications.
Make sure you always do your best to password protect your computer and never let anybody you don’t really trust get near it. So many laptops allow you to password it before it even loads and this way nobody will be able to access your operating system or format your laptop if it is stolen. This will also make it difficult for viruses to modify your computer or any part of it.

Free Antivirus Software Download From Microsoft

Free Download Microsoft Antivirus Security Essential
