Di sisi lain, ada Dr Doom a.k.a.

He,..he...he...".

Kembali saya berikan chart terbaru-nya, memang rada seram, namun cukup OK kalau diberikan pengaman.

We see that the consolidation at the 38.2-61.8% Fibonacci retracement is quite confusing, but since the MACD still in positive area and seems to be golden crossing very soon, then we see a positive outlook for JKSE.

With the latest news that there might be a downsizing for the "lot size", from 500 to 100, then it's very possible that it will attract not only smaller local retail investor but also attract foreigners too. But one news that halt it's euphoria is the change to the ticksize and the limitation of the auto reject to only 20 ticksize, which is not so good.

Somehow, people doubt that JKSE is still fundamentally strong, but let me tell you what makes JKSE is still strong. Indonesia is filled with mostly young-aged people, who are around 25-35 years old and the number is growing each year. Beside that the growth of rich people in Indonesia and the growing of middle class is a good news to the industries out there, which means it increases the consumption of the country and Indonesia rely less on the export which is good.

Let's see the chart in order to re-affirm it.

I still maintain a Buy action on JKSE and also with the same target 5300-5350.
Busy looking at the screen while looking at the up and downs? Should be really hectic recently with the movement of our index.

But I found a stock that is technically just waiting to be broken out, which is ALTO. This stock isn't moving much downward but only consolidating. In addition, the stock is also being accumulated recently that the volume increases from its normal one.

Yes, MACD is heading downward, but it hasn't seen to be a bear, once it crosses the 0 line, then we can unload as soon as possible. Bullish MACD is above 0 line, and vice versa.
The index keeps going down and we're still waiting it to bounce with the target low around 4275, which is quite close now, from there we want it to be bounced back to the high soon. But, we have no control of it, just hope for the best and put your stop losses :).

There are a lot of stocks that was affected by the BI rate hike, like property, automotive, cements, etc. One of them is TOTL, which declined sharply around 68% from its high at 1700 at the end of May and met the low at the beginning of September. We see that this stock has a chance to be back in action, as it has gone up around 40% since the low.

The volume is being accumulated and also we see that there's a cup and handle formation that might be a good shape in the stock. The recenet accumulation of the stock and the consolidation might bring a break out soon, once it has been broken out, we might see a prospective movement of the stock.

Our index has been in flatline since several months ago after the plunging from the top which was at around 5200. In the past few months the instability of our index happened due to the Indonesian Bank didn't rise the IB Rate, but in the last two to three months it has been raised significantly.

But I won't talk about the fundamental, I will talk technically in order to see the current position. As the index has been bullish since this month soared from the bottom, I see that it might be the start of the new wave (Elliot wave), which should be wave 1, the rally, and the latest decline is the wave 2. But how long will it go down? We'll see.

Based on the calculation, the plunge from May to late August, each down wave costs around 900 pts, which means the down wave of the Elliot wave (A & C Wave) was quite bad. But, just be cool, as the bad down wave came, the good wave will always follow, as the fundamental of our economy is still much stronger than others.

The question is how much will it go down, and how much will it gain when it go up? This is the answer, the plunge I projected would be to around 4350-4400, but once it bounced back, then it would very likely to be at around 5300-5350. The question is whether it is the time to buy now? I'd say YES it is, but prepare the stop loss level of your every trade as the line is still flat. I'd like to wait when it breaks 4800.

Today we've seen that the USD has been going up and down, since I saw the latest job report that the consensus was wrong in predicting that the jobless claim would be up, I see that the US economy is recovering. Because the job creation is getting better with the QE, and the economy seems to grow better than previous 1-2 years.

It's very nice actually to have that kind of claim, because once the workers got fired, then at least they can still eat even with others' tax. In US, people can get that kind of claim as the tax rate is very high, unlike in Indonesia. Besides of the high rate, the citizens pay taxes and the taxes paid is well managed by the government so that the government can create this kind of claim, while in the other hand, the tax officers in Indonesia aren't fully honest in managing the taxes, some of them still egoist in the tax management.

Back to the topic, why the USD will strengthened soon. Beside of the macroeconomic condition in US, the rumour that the Fed will taper QE seems to be so true and will happen very soon, which means that the government will stop assets purchases and stop the increment of money circulation in order to prevent the overheating of the economy.

While, the technical analysis shows that the DX seems to incline soon as the MACD Histogram is tapping the 3rd higher low and also there's a bullish divergence between the MACD with the price, and also the price is still inside the Darvas Box, which means that there's still no big indication of breaking up or down, but in short term, there's a strengthening possibility of USD Index (DX).

Its next landbank should serve as a catalyst, given the location and easy access. Maintain BUY, with our new IDR1,720 TP derived by applying a higher 40.0% NAV of IDR2,885 per share, implying 18.1-16.6x FY14-15F P/E

¨ Slowdown expected. Management was forced to postpone the launch of its new apartment project in Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, The Kensington, to next year, due to the temporary moratorium restriction on high-rise buildings imposed by the local Government. This leads us to revise downwards the FY13F pre-sales target to IDR4trn (from IDR4.5trn). Going forward we also expect an easing down in pre-sales growth to 10-15% per annum, given the: i) high base effect, ii) increase in mortgage rates as result of hike in key interest rates, and iii) Government’s regulations on curbing credit growth in the Indonesian property market.

¨ Hidden values spotted. Based on information gathered from SMRA’s financial statements, we suspect that its undisclosed landbank in Southern Jakarta is located in Bogor, which is accessible through the Jagorawi Toll Road. It is also ringed with one hotel and two golf courses. So far, SMRA has secured around 99ha and a 51% stake in the firm that owns the land and licences in the area. This translates to an investment of ~IDR472bn, or IDR117,000 psm. We have yet to take into account the potential revenue from this new landbank, as the land acquisition is still ongoing. Nonetheless, note that the land’s current market value ranges between IDR300,000 and IDR1m psm.

¨ Maintain BUY, new TP IDR1,720. We expect easing in FY14F-15F net earnings margins to 28-27%. This is due to a change in sales mix and higher interest expense from SMRA’s increased debt to finance its capex and land acquisitions, which will reach IDR2trn in FY13F. We do expect it to maintain its net cash position over the next 3-4 years, however, with total asset turnover (marketing sales/total assets) of 34-35% for FY14F-15F. SMRA currently trades at a 68% discount to its NAV, implying 9.7-8.9x FY14F-15F P/E and FY14F ROE of 27.6%. By comparison, its peers are trading at 12.5-10.1x FY14F-15F P/E and FY14F ROE of 18.6%. Hi friends, long time no post...

This week I spotted that there's an opportunity for us to earn a bit in Crude Oil, but this is only a short term trade, that we see oil has soared from US$80s to around US$110s, while the main cause is the Syria geo-political condition, but this time due to the price is so high and also the increment of crude oil inventory from predicted -1M but the actual is 2.6M which is a huge difference, then I'm 'bear' on crude oil for this short period.

The reason that this is a short term trade is because this trade is taken based on technical analysis decision, but not fully supported by the fundamental or seasonality of the crude oil itself. Technically, we can see that crude oil has soared too much and now the MACD Signal line is bearish as it goes below 0 line, and also it has just broken the lower Darvas Box which can also be the lower-low creation. Besides that the Commercial is buying the plunge, as they are keeping those as stocks when it is plunging.

Because once it's riped (fully accumulated by the commercial), then the rally might come, as the seasonality of crude oil shows that it will always surge at the end of the year, as winter comes and people are buying heating oil.

I've been quite tired talking to those investors that the Gold's price isn't always going to surge at the end of the day. Shockingly, they stubbornly said that I'm wrong. But let me show my intelligent reader how can I be right.

What is happening globally is the gold isn't surging all the time, but it is surging when people think that it is the safe haven (esp when crisis happen). From the data I gathered, there are two sources at least that can show the price of gold isn't in a very good position currently.

Currently, it has a pattern that happen just like 1980s creating a new high, and after that creating a lower high just like what is currently happening. After that 20 years of hibernation, and starting of the bullish and 5 years later here came the break even point.

What happened at that time was, the economy was doing great at 80s to 2000s before the tech bubble and gold was starting its rally up to the volatile economy since that time. Now, the economy is recovering and I'm afraid that the history repeats again just like when the rally creates the euphoria of the traders before it eventually kills the traders.

Actually if we count using present value of the gold's trade 1981-2001, the BEP should be around 30 years. Just incase we say that there's no discount computed so it's easier to be understood.

Back to Indonesia, people in Indonesia keeps high tone saying that gold never declined, it will always surge at the end of the day. Let's see what actually happen was the IDR devaluated and the inflation was very high. In 80s if I'm not wrong, people still can buy gold with ± IDR5000, what happened was, at that time, IDR5000 people can buy a lot of things, going anywhere by bus only IDR10-20. Come on guys, what happened today??? Gold is IDR500,000, how bout your bus fare??? 1000-2000 at least, which means gold isn't increasing in value, but it's increasing in nominal. Please open your eyes before investing, because GOLD NEVER MAKES YOU RICH, but GOLD PRESERVE YOU VALUE only.

<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Happy Investing^^

Technically, the stock is in a bullish trend. While the stock is a heavy duty one as it is not plunged too much with the recent "quake". Currently it is trying to break its resistance at 3400, but its has failed twice. This is the time that it might breakout and let the bull runs.
Hi, my readers, long time no post. Quite busy some time finishing my studies & stock market research and also I've just started my new business so need to learn a lot in that new business, but by the time I still keep my trading running quite well.

Today, a bonus stock pick is given which might give a fresh air for you all my friends. The stock is INTA, which announced that it has just got the trust from Chinese heavy machine producer, Sinotruk to distribute its product, and INTA targeted that it will sell 650 units this year, which means its customer will have more options in heavy machine purchase, which is good for it.

Technically, it's forming an inverted head & shoulder, which might target the stock to 1100 in the short period. The confirmation is at 870 level, so when the price has reached 870, the the pattern is confirmed and it's ready to finish the pattern. The chart can be seen below.

The US economy seems to be running better without looking at the Euro-Zone crisis which is getting hotter with the downgrading of France credit rating to below AAA rating while Germany was left unchanged.

Technically, I saw USD Index was pretty strong with the index upside potential around 10% from current price, which is a bad news for those who are shorting USD. If the economy keeps shining, then it's an opened chance for us to get some money from it.
Economists expected a drop to 106, the median forecast of 36 economists in a Bloomberg News survey showed.

"Companies just don't believe in this scary recession scenario," said Alexander Koch, an economist at UniCredit Group in Munich. "The domestic economy is doing well, the labor market is holding up and the outlook for export markets outside of Europe is pretty solid."

Today's reading is the latest indicator to show Germany is being shielded from the worst of Europe's debt crisis. Investor sentiment unexpectedly rose for the first time in 10 months in December and gauges of manufacturing and services activity also increased. German consumer confidence will hold its gains in January as unemployment at a two-decade low boosts the economic outlook, market research company GfK SE said today.

Ifo's gauge of the current situation was unchanged at 116.7, while an index measuring executives' expectations increased to 98.4 from 97.3. The euro extended its gains after the report at traded at $1.3039 at 10:05 a.m. in Frankfurt.

'Better Prepared'

Some companies are counting on U.S. and emerging-market sales to offset the drop in European demand. Luxury carmakers Bayerische Motoren Werke AG and Daimler AG said this month they will set up factories in Brazil and the U.S. respectively to help sustain growth. BMW Chief Executive Officer Norbert Reithofer said Dec. 16 that sales will grow in the U.S., China and Europe next year unless the global economy falters.

"We are better prepared for a potential crisis" than during the 2009 recession because of lower production costs and a better financial cushion, Reithofer said.

In the U.S., consumer spending probably climbed 0.3 percent in November as Americans flocked to auto showrooms and shopped for holiday bargains, according to a Bloomberg News survey. The Commerce Department is due to publish the data on Dec. 23. The euro's 10 percent decline against the dollar since the end of August may help German sales outside the currency region by making goods more competitive.

Debt Crisis

As European governments struggle to find a lasting solution to a debt crisis that has pushed up sovereign borrowing costs and toppled five elected governments, the European Central Bank has introduced a menu of measures designed to avert a credit crunch. It cut its benchmark interest rate to 1 percent this month, matching a record low, and is introducing three-year unlimited bank loans. The first of those loans will be allotted tomorrow.

"One aspiration is to have them financing the real economy, especially small- and medium-sized enterprises," ECB President Mario Draghi said in an interview with the Financial Times published yesterday.

Germany and its companies won't escape the crisis unscathed.

The economy will grow at the slowest pace in three years in 2012 as the turmoil in Europe threatens demand in the country's largest market, the Bundesbank said yesterday. Metro AG, the nation's biggest retailer, on Dec. 6 cut its 2011 sales and profit forecast, blaming "the increasingly noticeable effect" of the debt crisis.

The Bundesbank forecast economic growth will slow to 0.6 percent in 2012 from 3 percent this year before recovering to 1.8 percent in 2013. Its base scenario is that the debt crisis doesn't worsen and uncertainty among investors and consumers "gradually lessens." The ECB cut its 2012 euro-area growth forecast this month to 0.3 percent.

"Companies will notice the crisis, but if we are lucky we may even avert a recession, which in any case would only be a mild one," said Jens Kramer, an economist at NordLB in Hanover. "The economy is robust and will not fall off a cliff."

To contact the reporter on this story: Gabi Thesing in London at gthesing@bloomberg.net

To contact the editor responsible for this story: Craig Stirling at cstirling1@bloomberg.net
Find out more about Bloomberg for iPad: http://m.bloomberg.com/ipad/

Best Regards,

Christopher Tahir

Blog: http://ez-stock.blogspot.com

MSN: chris_tahir@hotmail.com

YM: chris_tahir@ymail.com

Sent from my  iPad

Happy Investing^^

Fitch became the first of the three credit agencies to return Indonesia to investment grade since the country lost the rating 14 years ago.

Despite the risk in the global markets and rising yields across emerging markets,Indonesia's ten-year bond yield fell by 72% last year from 22.7% to 6.3% as investors forecasted a return of the country's rating.

Fitch noted that the upgrade was a result of the, "the country's strong and resilient growth, declining public debt ratios, strengthened external liquidity and a prudent overall macro policy framework."

While the easy money may have been had in the country's bonds, there is still an opportunity in equities. Lowered yields on the country's debt could flow down to the corporate market and reduce the cost of capital for issuers. An inflow of foreign direct investment would also push up asset prices and spur lending.

There are two exchange-traded funds that offer exposure to the Indonesian market. The Market Vectors Indonesia ( IDX , quote ) invests in companies domiciled in Indonesia or that accrue at least 50% of their revenue from the country. The fund's two largest sector holdings are in financial services (26.3%) and basic materials (22.8%).

The MSCI Indonesia Investable Market Index ( EIDO , quote ) is comprised of 74 holdings and made to reflect the performance of the country's overall market. The top two sectors are also financial services (22.0%) and basic materials (16.6%) but consumer goods also comprise 25.7% of the fund holdings.

Both funds charge an expense ratio of around 0.6%.

Indonesian shares traded on the U.S. exchanges are limited to two telecommunications firms, PT Indosat ( IIT , quote ) and PT Telekomunikasi ( TLK , quote ). Both companies provide the array of telecom services with Telekomunikasi by far the larger at a market cap just over $12 billion compared to Indosat's $3.2 billion in capitalization.

Notable in Indonesia's economy is the strength of its domestic consumers, which drive almost two-thirds of GDP. Strength in the domestic market is a rare and welcome find across emerging markets these days as exports to the EU and the United States come under pressure.

Investors should note the trend in foreign direct investment through their investment window. An investment-grade rating will bring an influx of money that must be used constructively.

If funds are not used responsibly, i.e. to develop the country's infrastructure, an asset bubble could form and could lead to a collapse as seen in the Asian financial crisis.

The country's economy, which avoided the contraction that neighbors Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand suffered during the 2009 global slump, has expanded more than 6 percent this year even as Europe's debt crisis threatens Asian exports.

"This doesn't give us immunity," Helmi Arman, an economist at Citigroup Inc. in Jakarta, said after Fitch released the announcement. "But they're going to have a broader investor base in the market because of this move. The currency slid 0.04 percent to 9,090 a dollar yesterday, according to prices from local banks compiled by Bloomberg.

Government bonds gained earlier yesterday. The yield on the 8.25 percent note due July 2021 declined four basis points, or 0.04 percentage point, to 6.25 percent, according to midday prices from the Inter-Dealer Market Association. It reached 6.06 percent on Dec. 6, the lowest since the securities were sold in July last year.

Demand for Indonesian bonds will increase following Fitch's move, Rahmat Waluyanto, director general at the finance ministry's debt management office, said in Jakarta yesterday. Capital inflow, especially foreign direct investment, will likely increase, he said in a mobile-phone text message.

'Waited a Long Time'

"We've waited for this upgrade for a long time, in line with our effort to implement consistent and careful economic policies," Hartadi Sarwono, deputy governor at the central bank, said in a mobile-phone text message in Jakarta yesterday. "Indonesia's economic prospects will be better with lower risk and borrowing costs supporting financing of economic activities."

Moody's Investors Service raised the nation's rating in January to Ba1. In April, Standard & Poor's increased Indonesia's long-term foreign-currency rating one level to BB+ from BB, with a positive outlook. The ratings are one level below investment grade.

Indonesia's performance contrasts with that of European nations, whose borrowing costs have soared as the debt crisis deepened.

European Union

European Union leaders agreed at a Dec. 8-9 summit in Brussels to tighter control of tax and spending by governments that overstep the bloc's deficit limit of 3 percent of gross domestic product. They also pledged a faster start to a 500 billion-euro ($652 billion) rescue fund. Standard & Poor's and Moody's Investors Service are reviewing the agreement and its implications for credit ratings on euro countries.

Fitch projects Indonesia's GDP growth will average more than 6 percent per annum over the period to 2013, it said in yesterday's statement.

"Indonesia's domestically-oriented economy and success in delivering relatively strong economic growth without the creation of external imbalances, or a reliance on short-term external financing suggests economic growth prospects should prove resilient to external shocks, as was the case in 2008," Fitch said. "Low public debt and positive real interest rates give the authorities policy flexibility to respond to any slowdown."

To contact the reporter on this story:

To contact the reporter on this story: Novrida Manurung in Jakarta at nmanurung@bloomberg.net
Find out more about Bloomberg for iPad: http://m.bloomberg.com/ipad/

Best Regards,

Christopher Tahir

Blog: http://ez-stock.blogspot.com

MSN: chris_tahir@hotmail.com

YM: chris_tahir@ymail.com

Sent from my  iPad

Happy Investing^^

Macroeconomic Advisers in St. Louis increased its forecast to 3.2 percent from 2.9 percent at the start of November, while New York-based Morgan Stanley & Co. boosted its outlook to 3.5 percent from 3 percent.

"The incoming data on consumption, business spending and residential investment all point to GDP growth in the fourth quarter tracking 3.3 percent," said John Herrmann, senior fixed-income strategist at State Street Global Markets in Boston.

Herrmann, who is the second most-accurate forecaster of GDP based on Bloomberg data, had been looking for fourth quarter growth of 2.4 percent at the start of this month. The economy expanded at an annualized pace of 2.5 percent in the third quarter.

Joseph LaVorgna, chief U.S. economist at Deutsche Bank Securities in New York, said he wouldn't be surprised to see fourth-quarter growth of 4 percent, though for now he is sticking with his forecast of 3 percent.

The strengthening economy will help lift U.S. stock prices, which have been depressed by the sovereign debt crisis in Europe, LaVorgna said.

'Too Much Pessimism'

"There's too much pessimism built into the market," he said, adding that the Standard & Poor's 500 Index could break 1,300 by year's end. The stock gauge closed at 1,216.13 yesterday.

The economic pick-up also may push up yields on Treasury securities, Herrmann said. The yield on the 10-year note could rise to 2.25 percent or higher in the first quarter of next year, he said, assuming Europe avoids a financial catastrophe akin to the 2008 bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. The 10-year yield stood at 1.96 percent at 5 p.m. New York time yesterday, according to Bloomberg Bond Trader prices.

Behind the revised fourth quarter forecasts: Consumers have not cut back on spending even with the turmoil in world financial markets, putting pressure on companies to rebuild inventories they ran down because of concerns about Europe.

Helped by the biggest jump in electronics purchases in two years, retail sales rose 0.5 percent in October, after a 1.1 percent increase the month before, according to the Commerce Department.

'Spectacular Christmas'

"We feel confident that the momentum we have heading into the fourth quarter, combined with our holiday strategies, bode well for that quarter," said Karen Hoguet, chief financial officer for Cincinnati-based Macy's Inc., the second-biggest U.S. department-store chain. "We'll have a spectacular Christmas," she added on a Nov. 9 conference call with analysts.

Companies, meanwhile, held their inventories little changed in September as sales climbed, the Commerce Department reported on Nov. 15. Businesses had enough goods on hand to last 1.27 months at September's sales pace, near the record low of 1.24 months reached earlier this year.

Retailers "continue to manage their inventories very carefully," Harlan Kent, chief executive officer of Yankee Candle Co. Inc., which sells its products to retailers like Macy's and Target Corp., said on a Nov. 10 call with investors. "We are in good shape to quickly respond to replenishment orders and capitalize on any uptick in consumer demand."

Boost From Restocking

Restocking will boost growth by 0.8 percentage points in the fourth quarter, according to JPMorgan Chase. In the third quarter, inventory changes reduced GDP by 1.1 percentage points. The economic outlook beyond the fourth quarter rests heavily on what policy makers do, both in Europe and the U.S., said Michael Feroli, JPMorgan Chase's chief U.S. economist.

The U.S. would not be able to "escape the consequences of a blowup in Europe," Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said in El Paso, Texas on Nov. 10. "The world's financial markets are highly interconnected."

Federal Reserve Bank of New York President William C. Dudley said in a speech yesterday that while recent economic reports have shown improvement, that shouldn't be a signal for the Fed to relax its efforts to boost the economy. Growth next year may be around 2.75 percent after somewhat more than 2.5 percent in the fourth quarter, he said.

Consumers Cut Debt

"Although the latest news on the U.S. economy is somewhat more encouraging than that from earlier in the year, we should not take much solace from that," he said. "The U.S. economy continues to face several obstacles," including consumers cutting debt and caution by businesses.

"We also continue to face significant downside risks, mostly related to the stress in the euro zone," Dudley said.

Euro-region policy makers are struggling to contain a financial crisis that started two years ago in Greece and which has now spread to Italy, the region's third-biggest economy with a debt of 1.9 trillion euros ($2.6 trillion).

In Washington, the focus has been on the deliberations of the Congressional supercommittee, which faces a Nov. 23 deadline to come up with measures to reduce the budget deficit by $1.2 trillion over 10 years.

What's more important for the economy in 2012 though is the fate of a number of stimulus measures, including a 2 percent cut in employee payroll taxes and extended unemployment benefits, that are due to expire at end year, Feroli said.

Fiscal Drag

If Congress doesn't continue them, "the drag from tightening fiscal policy could subtract 1.5 to 2 percentage points from GDP growth next year," the former Fed economist added in Nov. 10 note to clients.

Households would be particularly hit, as the payroll tax cut and extended unemployment benefits boosted their income by about $150 billion this year, according to Feroli.

For now, consumer spending has been holding up as the crucial end-of-year holiday selling season gets underway.

The rise in retail sales last month prompted economists David Greenlaw and Ted Wieseman at Morgan Stanley to bump up their forecast for growth of household outlays in the fourth quarter to 2.7 percent from 2.2 percent. Personal consumption expenditures rose at an annualized rate of 2.4 percent in the third quarter, the fastest pace so far this year.

Economists are divided over what's behind the buoyancy of spending. David Rosenberg, chief economist at Gluskin Sheff & Associates in Toronto, ties it to a fall in the savings rate that they argue can't last. That rate dropped to 3.6 percent in September, the lowest level since the start of the last recession in December 2007.

Often Revised

Others like LaVorgna play down the significance of the drop in the savings rate, noting that it is a statistic that is frequently revised.

Feroli, too, cautioned against reading too much into the savings numbers and pointed to other reasons for the resilience of consumer expenditures.

Ebbing inflation is giving households more spending power. Consumer prices fell in October for the first time in four months, dropping 0.1 percent after a 0.3 percent rise in September, the Labor Department said on Nov. 16. Contributing to the fall was a 3.1 percent decline in gasoline prices.

Lower borrowing costs, courtesy of a flight into Treasury securities by investors fearful of developments in Europe and the Fed's continued easy monetary policy, are also helping households. The average rate for a 30-year fixed rate mortgage was 4 percent in the week ended Nov. 17, barely above the 3.94 percent record low hit last month, according to Freddie Mac.

Construction Permits

Housing construction permits climbed last month to their highest level since March 2010, according to Commerce Department data, as the near record-low mortgage rates lured some buyers into the market.

The future pace of consumer spending ultimately will be decided by the growth of household income, which in turn is tied to the health of the job market.

And there, Herrmann saw some reason to be optimistic. In comparison, nearly 20% of U.S. jobs come from U.S. tax dollars—a bloated number even by U.S. standards.

Gross inequity. That's the predominate mood in Germany, according to German news organization Die Welt (translated to English), which published a poll revealing that 71% of Germans insist upon a referendum on further steps taken regarding German's obligations under the euro currency block. Sixty-three percent of Germans want Greece to leave the euro.

One can only wonder about the rational of the other 29% and 37%, respectively, who agree to pay for early retirements and lucrative government jobs for so many Greeks.

Moreover, it's no secret that Greeks don't even want to pay for their own government's spending habits.

CNN reported, "Greece is renowned for its history of tax evasion, estimated last year as worth 4% of GDP—$11 billion." That amount equals to approximately $560 billion to the U.S. Treasury derived from a $14 trillion economy—per year. But the UK Telegraph suggests the amount of tax payments evaded is much higher. Greece loses €15bn ($20.5bn) a year to tax evasion, is the headline by the Telegraph. Now, we're talking nearly 7% of Greece's $304 billion GDP (World Bank statistic).

And the New Yorker Magazine writes, "Greeks . . . see fraud and corruption as ubiquitous in business, in the tax system, and even in sports."

So Germans, who've prided themselves as the most productive workers of the most extraordinary products for centuries, are now asked to pay into a broken system that the Greek people, themselves, don't have confidence in?

In all, the WikiLeak'ed cable doesn't add much new to what is already known, but it's an interesting note that Washington has been bantering around the German question for some time, and has probably added fuel to the fire in Europe, too, in the hopes Treasury can skate a little while longer with its dollar debasement program of scare tactics, herding fund managers into the 'safety trade' of the U.S. dollar—another grotesque excuse for a currency.

Little attention by the U.S. media has been paid to the U.S. dollar's noticeably weak response to the circus-like atmosphere in Europe—with no qualms, either, from the rumor mill of the Financial Times of London, as the Anglo-American tag team place center stage each and every sideshow act, as well, though Berlusconi's narcissistic behavior can be quite amusing and compelling to report.

If the outrageous situation between the Germans and Greeks isn't enough to crash the euro experiment in a heap with the Ford Edsel, the best tidbit within the Murphy cable briefly outlines the most difficult bolder to roll in the effort to force Germany to bailout Europe (which it mathematically cannot anyway): the legal one.

"In 1990, Germany's Constitutional Court ruled that the country could withdraw from the Euro if: 1) the currency union became an 'inflationary zone,' or 2) the German taxpayer became the Eurozone's 'de facto bailout provider,'" Murphy stated in the cable to Washington. "Mayer [Thomas Mayer is Chief Economist of Deutsche Bank Group] proposes a 'Chapter 11 for Eurozone countries,' which would place troubled members under economic supervision until they put their house in order."

Under these bizarre circumstances, a blog entry by Pippa Malmgren, former economic adviser to President George Bush (George II), has been given some traction since her post about her thoughts on the euro, in September.

She believes that the Greeks will default, the euro will fall, the Germans will walk, and gold, oil as well as other commodities will soar.

She writes, "Greece defaults. . . The Germans announce they are re-introducing the Deutschmark. They have already ordered the new currency and asked that the printers hurry up."

As a result, she add, "Gold, diamonds, agricultural assets, energy prices and mined asset prices will rise. Default reduces the debt burden and allows growth and inflation to return. If central banks (other than the ECB) throw huge liquidity out into the market because of this event then the liquidity is going to lean away from paper financial assets other than the most trusted and liquid (U.S. Treasuries), and lean toward hard assets."

Anyone wondering how the U.S. Treasury intends to come up with $628 billion by Mar. 31, 2012, to keep the illusion of the U.S. dollar alive without herculean efforts by the Fed's balance sheet may see the crisis in Europe as possible or partial answer. As German protects itself from another Weimar, the U.S. needs a solution to its own reichsmark. So far, the dying PIIGS have provided Treasury a temporary one.

http://www.beaconequity.com/wikileaks-exposes-germanys-euro-exit-gold-diamonds-oil-to-soar-2011-11-07

Related Cable -
http://wikileaks.org/cable/2010/02/10BERLIN181.html#

« Last Edit: Yesterday at 09:41:41 PM by Fanyajuu »

Best Regards,
Christopher Tahir
Blog: http://ez-stock.blogspot.com
MSN: chris_tahir@hotmail.com
YM: chris_tahir@ymail.com

Mail to my Y!Group:
ez-stock-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Happy Investing^^

Feb. 19 is the "most appropriate" date to hold new elections, according to a statement yesterday from the finance ministry.

International Aid

Trying to preserve international aid before the nation runs out of money next month, Papandreou raced over the past 48 hours to clinch an agreement with the main opposition party before markets open today, healing divisions to secure an aid agreement. The premier won a confidence motion early on Nov. 5 after pledging to disaffected members of his ruling Pasok party that he would not stay on.

More than one EU government is teetering on the brink. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi also faces mounting pressure to step down as 10-year borrowing costs for the region's third-biggest economy approach the 7 percent level that forced Greece, Ireland and Portugal to seek bailouts. The premier reiterated today that he won't resign.

Pressure on Berlusconi

"With Papandreou's decision, the focus will perhaps shift to Italy, where Prime Minister Berlusconi is facing intense pressure, and may well follow Papandreou's footsteps should tension increase further, " Standard Chartered Bank's Costerg said.

Officials from the Greek ruling party and New Democracy met to discuss details of the Oct. 26 bailout accord late in Athens, before Venizelos attends the Brussels meeting, government spokesman Elias Mosialos told reporters.

The main goal of a unity government is securing approval of the Oct. 26 agreement with international lenders, Papandreou told reporters in Athens on Nov. 5. The EU and the IMF agreed to provide 110 billion euros in May last year in return for cuts in government spending and public sector jobs.

His referendum plan triggered a suspension in assistance by EU leaders less than a week after they'd approved the second rescue package and wrote down the value of Greek debt by 50 percent.

The surprise referendum announcement triggered the biggest two-day slide in the MSCI World Index in almost three years and sent spreads on French, Greek and Italian bonds over bunds to euro-era records. Treasuries erased early losses.

The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 1.2 percent to 1,246.35 at 10:16 a.m. in New York. The Stoxx Europe 600 Index retreated 0.9 percent as the euro weakened 0.7 percent to $1.3724 and 10-year Italian bond yields traded near a euro-era record, climbing 17 basis points to 6.36 percent. The S&P GSCI Index of commodities slipped 0.2 percent, reversing an early 0.8 percent gain. Ten-year Treasury yields slipped two basis points to 2.05 percent after gaining six points earlier.

Equities headed lower as G-20 leaders failed to agree on increasing the IMF's resources, fueling concern European leaders won't be able to tap more foreign aid to tame their debt crisis. The U.S. jobless rate unexpectedly fell to a six-month low of 9 percent, the Labor Department said, as slower-than-forecast jobs growth in October was overshadowed by larger gains in the prior two months.

"We're still held hostage to Europe," Jim Dunigan, who helps oversee $103 billion as chief investment officer in Philadelphia for PNC Wealth Management, said in a telephone interview. "It's a fragile environment and the effort to make progress there is two steps forward, one step back."

The S&P 500 is down almost 3 percent over the past five days, poised for its first weekly drop since September. Financial shares led losses today, with JPMorgan Chase & Co., Bank of America Corp. and Berkshire Hathaway Inc. dropping at least 1.6 percent.

Groupon IPO

Groupon Inc. shares start trading today under the symbol GRPN after the biggest online-coupon provider raised $700 million in its initial public offering, 30 percent more than it sought and valuing the online-coupon provider at about $12.7 billion. LinkedIn Corp. sank 9.1 percent after the biggest professional-networking website reported a third-quarter loss.

The 80,000 increase in payrolls last month trailed the median forecast of economists for a gain of 95,000. Growth in the prior two months was revised up by 102,000 jobs, Labor Department figures showed.

The S&P 500 has rallied 15 percent since Oct. 3 after concern that Europe's debt crisis would trigger another recession dragged it down 19 percent from a three-year high on April 29. The rebound was spurred by better-than-estimated earnings and economic data and growing confidence that leaders would help Greece avoid default. The S&P GSCI Index of commodities has climbed 13 percent from its 2011 low on Oct. 4, while the 10-year Treasury yield has increased from a record low of 1.67 percent set on Sept. 23.

Per-share earnings beat estimates at about three-quarters of the companies in the S&P 500 that released results since Oct. 11, data compiled by Bloomberg show. Alcatel-Lucent SA sank 15 percent as France's largest telecommunications equipment supplier cut its earnings forecast.
