Great News: I Need Your Help

2011-07-18T23:37:00.000-04:00

I received a wonderful message on Etsy last night. I have been invited to donate one of my photography pieces to the CWIT Silent Auction (The Charleston Women in International Trade). The auction helps fund their scholarships for next year. I need help on deciding on a piece to donate. I would greatly appreciate the help. To help: go to KDN Designs & Photography on FaceBook, "like" the page. Then go to the "Auction Choices" album & click "like" on the one you think I should use. I am not sure of the deadline at the moment, but I will update once I find out.

About CWIT: The Charleston Women in International Trade is a chapter of the international Organization of Women in International Trade. CWIT is a nonprofit professional organization. Their mission is to enhance the status of women who work in the field of international trade by presenting educational and networking events to benefit common goals.

The Beauty Within

2011-07-14T15:00:00.000-04:00

This post plays off of this post.

When you look at a color photo, you see the colors in it, like the top layer of the photo. You don't see beyond that. When you look at a black and white photo, you are forced to look beyond colors. You look into the next layer of the photo, the soul of what has been photographed. Color photos can make a photo look happy or sad. Black and white photos speak the truth. It is only then that you can see the true emotion of the the photo. This is one of the reason I find more beauty in black and white photos than I do in color photos. What do you think?

Capturing the Soul

When you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes. When you photograph people in black & white you photograph their souls.

Sneak Peek & Suggestions

2011-07-06T22:47:00.001-04:00

Here are 3 prints that are not currently up in the shop. They will soon be up for sale. I have more, but they will appear in a future post. =) Also, if you have any suggestions on what I can photograph next, please leave it in a comment below =) Don't forget to "like" the FaceBook fan page here and check out the new blog button (on right side of the blog) =) I'm also thinking about taking out the white X in the photos (like I did in the Retro Pine Trees) and just leaving my name in it. What do you think? Last but not least, I added a new feature to the website. Instead of having a Contact Me section in the navigation area, there is now a purple and white tab that will appear on every page. If you need to contact me, just click on it & it will open a pop-up window.

Cats don't like Jersey? lol

2011-04-22T12:36:00.000-04:00

I was looking at the news on Yahoo! this morning and came across a photo of a cat (pictured above). It automatically caught my attention (because she looks almost identical to my cat). What got my attention even more was when I seen this line "A soaked, seaweed-covered cat shows up on a New York island..." I had to check out this story. Apparently she swam all the way from New Jersey a mile away. Even cats don't like Jersey lol (joking!). Check out this rather interesting story here.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Happy Monday everyone :D Hope everyone had a great weekend. I did :D Saw Insidious Saturday. That is one good movie. I loved it. If you like horror movies, go watch it. It's a must.

I also had some what of a make over. My hair is black so I put purple streaks in it & put blue underneath. The blue doesn't really show up great in photos though =/

Also, added a new photo to the shop.

Have a great Monday!

On another note, I applied for a new school. My original plans were to graduate this May & then start photography school. I didn't realize how expensive they are at the moment, and time's running out. I decided to graduate in May & then start on finishing my Networking degree. Hopefully it all works out =) Don't worry though, I am still going to continue doing photography, with or without a degree.
