Don't lie! Wardrobe malfunctions at awards shows are exciting, and viewers might have thought there was a major slip onstage when Jennifer Lawrence accepted her award for Best Female Actor in a Film.

But alas, 'twas not the case.

While making what seemed to be the very treacherous walk up to the stage in that long Christian Dior gown, it looked like J.Law's dress decided to just split open.

So did it rip? No!

First of all, this is a Christian Dior gown we're talking about here; those things don't just rip, even if Lawrence says that she's "considered a fat actress." Secondly, it was too clean a cut for it to be a rip, so here's what was going on.

The original gown, which was revealed on the runway at a couture fashion show on Monday, showed clear distinctions that were connected by sheer lining. Lawrence's dress, however, had the lining hidden, so people couldn't really tell that it was a tiered gown.

Once she was approaching the stage to get her award, the combination of her pulling up on the top part of the dress and possibly having the train stuck on a heel (or something) revealed the sheer lining in between.

And there you have it!

Sacha Baron Cohen, the man behind reality-straddling characters like Borat and Bruno, now has a new character to unleash upon the world--General Aladeen of his new movie "The Dictator." So in true SBC fashion, he wants to show up at the Oscars in character. (Why is he even invited to the Oscars, you ask? He's in "Hugo," which is up for Best Picture.)

The Oscars were swift to ban his character, but not him. So Cohen responded to the banas Aladeen. It's basically now a Jenga tower of confusing meta-publicity for both sides, which was probably the goal anyway.

The reigning Sexiest Man Alive and Zoe Saldana are dating and they're extremely happy about it, sources exclusively tell E! News. And we hear that the pair are just now starting to tell family and friends that they're an item.

Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol beat out David Fincher's edgy and violent The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo over Christmas holidays. Of course, Fincher's creepy film about a Nazi serial killer of women -- that features graphic male and a female rape scenes -- wasn't exactly box office 'feel good' holiday fare. So it makes sense that Chip-wrecked topped it on a family weekend.

AS VEGAS -- Dan Wheldon, the 2011 Indianapolis 500 winner and one of the most popular drivers in open-wheel racing, died Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in a horrific multi-car crash on Lap 11 of the IndyCar Series season finale.

Officials decided to call the race, but the drivers, many sobbing openly, did a five-lap tribute to Wheldon. IndyCar Series CEO Randy Bernard made the official announcement of Wheldon's death without further comment.

"IndyCar is very sad to announce that Dan Wheldon has passed away from unsurvivable injuries," Bernard said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family today. IndyCar, its drivers and owners, have decided to end the race. In honor of Dan Wheldon, the drivers have decided to do a five-lap salute to in his honor."

Wheldon was airlifted from the Las Vegas track at 1:19 p.m. local time Sunday and taken to University Medical Center, becoming the first IndyCar driver to die on the track since rookie Paul Dana was killed in practice on the morning of race day at Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2006.

"One minute you're joking around at driver intros. The next, Dan's gone," said Dario Franchitti, whose wife, actress Ashley Judd, had to bring him a box of tissues. "I lost, we lost, a good friend. Everybody in the IndyCar series considered him a friend. He was such a good guy. He was a charmer."

Wheldon, 33 and the 2005 series champion from Emberton, England, was competing in only his third IndyCar race of the season, trying to win the race and earn a $5 million bonus that was part of a league promotion for driver who didn't compete full-time in the series this year.

Wheldon was the only driver to accept the challenge. This year's Indy 500 was the second time Wheldon had won the prestigious event. He also won it in 2005.

Wheldon was expected to replace Danica Patrick next season in the Go-Daddy-sponsored car for Andretti Autosport. Patrick is moving to NASCAR full-time in 2012.

Andretti Autosport, the team with which Wheldon won the 2005 Indy 500, had agreed to a contract early Sunday for Wheldon to replace Patrick next season. The deal was supposed to be signed after the race.

Three other drivers, including championship contender Will Powerwere injured in the wreck.

The race was only minutes old when Wheldon, who started at the back of the 34-car field and was in position for a $5 million payday if he had won, couldn't steer clear of a wreck that started when two cars touched tires.

Within seconds, several cars burst into flames and debris covered the track nearly halfway up the straightaway. Some points of impact were so devastating workers had to patch holes in the asphalt.

Video replays showed Wheldon's car turning over as it went airborne and sailed into what's called the catch fence, which sits over a barrier that's designed to give a bit when cars make contact. Rescue workers were at Wheldon's car quickly, some furiously waving for more help to get to the scene.

"I'll tell you, I've never seen anything like it," Ryan Briscoe said. "The debris we all had to drive through the lap later, it looked like a war scene from Terminator or something. I mean, there were just pieces of metal and car on fire in the middle of the track with no car attached to it and just debris everywhere. So it was scary, and your first thoughts are hoping that no one is hurt because there's just stuff everywhere. Crazy."

Also injured in the crash were JR Hildebrand and Pippa Mann. Both will remain in the hospital overnight. IndyCar said Mann was being treated for a burn to her right pinkie finger and will be released Monday morning; Hildebrand was awake and alert but will be held overnight for further evaluation. Power was evaluated and released. An autopsy was planned Monday for Wheldon.

"What a tremendously sad day, my thoughts are with the entire Wheldon family... Dan's passion for IndyCar racing will be sorely missed...." Hildebrand said on Twitter Sunday.

The accident appeared to start when Wade Cunningham's car swerved on the track and Hildebrand drove over the left rear of Cunningham's car. Hildebrand appeared to go airborne, and Cunningham's car shot up into the wall, setting off a chain reaction among the cars behind him.

Some of those cars slowed, others didn't, and others spun in front of Wheldon and Power. There was so much chaos on the track it was hard to tell who was driving what car.

Power appeared to fly over Alex Lloyd's car, rolling into the catch fence and landing on its right side. His in-car camera showed one of the front tires coming toward him in the cockpit.

Wheldon then appeared to drive over a car driven by Paul Tracy, who seemed to be slowing down. Wheldon, however, went airborne and spun into the fence.

The track was red-flagged following the accidents while crews worked on fences and removed smashed cars.

"There are no words for today," Patrick tweeted. "Myself and so many others are devastated. I pray for suzi (Wheldon's wife) and the kids that god will give them strength."

"We are incredibly saddened at the passing of Dan Wheldon," Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation president and CEO Jeff Belskus said. "He was a great champion of the Indianapolis 500 and a wonderful ambassador for the race, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and all of motorsports. Most importantly, he was a fantastic husband, father and man -- a good friend to so many in this sport. His memory will live forever at the Speedway, both through the magnitude of his accomplishments on the track and his magnetism off the track."

Wheldon, who came to the United States from England in 1999, won 16 times in his IndyCar career and was the series champion in 2005.

Despite winning this year's Indy 500, Wheldon couldn't put together a full-time ride this season. He landed in this race thanks to Bernard's promise of $5 million to any moonlighting driver who could win the IndyCar season finale at Vegas. Although there were no takers, Bernard refused to scrap the idea and Wheldon was declared eligible for the prize.

Drivers had been concerned about the high speeds at the track, where they were hitting nearly 225 mph during practice.

"We all had a bad feeling about this place in particular just because of the high banking and how easy it was to go flat. And if you give us the opportunity, we are drivers and we try to go to the front. We race each other hard because that's what we do," driver Oriol Serviasaid. "We knew if could happen, but it's just really sad."

Asked about speed after the crash, Wheldon's former boss Chip Ganassi said, "There'll be plenty of time in the offseason to talk about that. Now is not the time to talk about that."

And Franchitti, who clinched the 2011 IndyCar title Sunday, said: "I agree. We'll discuss that and sort it out."

The race was ruled incomplete, and IndyCar officials ruled that the championship points would include races up through the Kentucky Indy 300 on Oct. 2. Franchitti held an 18-point lead over Power entering Sunday's race.

Wheldon had been providing blog posts for USA Today in the days leading up to the Las Vegas race, and in one posted Saturday to the newspaper's website he spoke of how he expected Sunday to be "pure entertainment."

"This is going to be an amazing show," Wheldon wrote. "The two championship contenders, Dario Franchitti and Will Power, are starting right next to each other in the middle of the grid. Honestly, if I can be fast enough early in the race to be able to get up there and latch onto those two, it will be pure entertainment. It's going to be a pack race, and you never know how that's going to turn out."

The accident spoiled what Bernard had hoped would be a showcase event for the struggling IndyCar Series.

The second-year CEO worked the entire season on turning the finale into a spectacle, and said he'd offer his resignation to the IndyCar board of directors if ABC's broadcast didn't pull a .8 ranking. His goal was to improve upon last year's season finale's horrible television rating and give the series some momentum for what's hoped to be a strong season in 2013 with the introduction of a new car and new manufacturers.

So Bernard poured everything into Las Vegas, renting the speedway from owner Bruton Smith and agreeing to promote the event himself. He landed enough sponsorship to at least break even on race, and the $5 million challenge bought him an enormous amount of publicity the entire year.

Bernard got the Las Vegas Strip to close to stage a parade of cars, hosted industry parties and a blackjack tournament all to boost interest in the race. He even got MGM Grand Resorts to offer a pair of tickets to anyone staying this weekend in one of the chain's 14 properties.

But what was hoped to be a day of celebration quickly turned somber.

When drivers returned to the track for the tribute laps, Wheldon's No. 77 was the only one on the towering scoreboard. Franchitti sobbed uncontrollably as he got back into his car for the memorial ride. The sound of "Danny Boy" echoed around the track, followed by "Amazing Grace." Hundreds of crew workers from each team stood at attention in honor of Wheldon.

"What can you say? We're going to miss him," Ganassi said. "Everybody in IndyCar died a little today."

Singer Rihanna slammed a story by MTV Canada based on a tweet, supposedly written by the singer, regarding Chris Brown and the night he attacked her.

E! Online is reporting that RiRi slammed MTV Canada on a story they ran which quoted a tweet from Rihanna's official Twitter page, allegedly from the singer, where she admitted she provoked Chris Brown on the night he attacked her.

The tweet said, "I admit it. I provoked Chris to hit me. It was not entirely his fault. #ImSORRY"

The 23-year-old-singer took to her Twitter page and gave MTV Canada a piece of her mind, "@mtvnewscanada are u f**king kiddin me?????? You're supposed to be a RELIABLE source for news on music and this is the bulls**t u post??"
MTV Canada later tweeted a retraction to the story saying, ""#Rihanna fans. We were reporting on a story that was posted on several sites today. We had no intention to be salacious."

Brown physically attacked Rihanna in 2009 and later pleaded guilty to assaulting her and publicly apologized for the incident.

He underwent court-ordered domestic violence counseling and spent six months doing community service.

Kings of Leon Gives Tribute to 'Jackass' Star Ryan Dunn On Their Tour.

Kings of Leon played an emotional tribute to former 'Jackass' star Ryan Dunn on Wednesday night, June 22, during the encore for their first of two shows in London's Hyde Park.

Dunn, who had become a friend to the band in the past year, was killed in a fatal car accident in Philadelphia in the early hours of Monday, 20 June.

Speaking to the crowd, NME reports that frontman Caleb Followill dedicated 'Use Somebody' to Dunn and led the crowd in raising their glasses to "a friend of ours."

This echoed sentiments tweeted by brother Jared before the performance, saying he was "heartbroken" and "devastated" at the loss of the 34-year-old, whose memorial service also took place Wednesday.
The group's set marked the first of a string of sold-out stadium dates in the UK, with support coming from White Lies and modfather Paul Weller.

Featuring hits from their five studio albums, they included fan favourites' 'Pistol of Fire' 'Knocked Up' and latest single 'The Immortals.' Kings of Leon once again take on Hyde Park Thursday evening (June 23), before heading to Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium (June 26).

Popeater - Eva Mendes has been named the new face of the iconic scent, as well as the soon-to-launch, airier Eau De Toilette version available this August.

The campaign--which was shot in Prague--features the actress (in a custom Mugler dress) singing with an orchestra.

Though this wasn't the initial concept for the commercial: When Mendes was prepping for the shoot she found inspiration by singing along to "The Windmills of Your Mind," the song that was chosen for the campaign. Everyone on set loved it so much they decided to incorporate her singing into the commercial.

Mendes will use her voice again when she stars as the famed opera soprano Maria Callas in an upcoming biopic. But singing isn't a newly-acquired talent--if you'll remember back to 1998, she was actually one of the convertible-driving girls in Will Smith's at one time omnipresent "Welcome To Miami" video, chiming in with the occasional "Bienvenido a Miami."

Rihanna Facing Another 'S&M' Lawsuit

Rihanna's controversial music video for 'S&M' has landed her in hot water yet again. This time around, photographer Phillip Paulus is suing the singer for copyright infringement.

According to RadarOnline.com, Paulus alleges that Rihanna identically replicated his series of photographs, called 'Paperworld,' in the racy video without his permission.

The scene in question depicts Rihanna, dressed in a large, fluffy gown against a wall, and is covered in plastic and surrounded by large black 'X' marks. Paulus claims one of his photographs is extremely similar in both concept and execution.

"For legitimate reasons the use of copying Paulus' work over a million times requires an agreement that protects the copyright and the achievements and creations of our client which has never been given by our client, neither to the artist Rihanna nor to her label Universal Music," Paulus' lawyer said in a statement. "According to this, the copyright laws of our client has been infringed and the worldwide million-wise exploitation of the video 'S&M' is unlawful."
Paulus also released a statement of his own regarding Rihanna and the lawsuit.

"Why a worldwide celebrity is not able to afford a creative director, who creates individual concepts and stagings, is incomprehensible for me," Paulus said. "To create new things within the creative cosmos, you can only expect this to come from a real genius, there is no doubt about that."

He adds that the singer and her label should be embarrassed that they copied another artist's work.

"...Every other creative professional should realize how supremely embarrassing it is to copy the work of colleagues from the artistic world and then to be praised for it," he said.

This is the second 'S&M' lawsuit for Rihanna and Universal. Photographer David LaChapelle sued over the video in February, claiming it copied the "composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, decors, wardrobe and lighting" of his work.

With a hot ticket in the box office in 'Midnight in Paris,' it looks like Owen Wilson is saving his happy ending for the big screen. According to the UK's Daily Mail, Wilson has split from the mother of his child, Jade Duell.

Wilson and Duell welcomed their first child, son, Robert, five months ago but it turns out that a baby wasn't enough to keep the family together.

"Owen wanted the freedom to do what he wanted with his friends, both male and female, while remaining a family unit with Jade and the baby," a source close to the couple told the National Enquirer. "But Jade wasn't willing to go along with that, so Owen decided to end things with her instead of cheating behind her back."
It sounds like Wilson's 'Midnight in Paris' character may be rubbing off on him in real life, but he should know better than to think he could have it both ways. According to reports, Wilson remains in Santa Monica, California while his girlfriend and baby mama, Duell, moved back to New York with the couple's baby to be with her family. Wilson also flew solo at the majority of his 'Midnight in Paris' premieres and press events, making it seem as though Duell was either busy at home with baby Robert or the pair had been separated for quite some time.

Jennifer Aniston recently made a big life decision about someone very dear to her heart.

No, we're not talking about the TV and movie star's new romance with Justin Theroux. Aniston has been spotted sporting her very first tattoo, an elegant script prominently inked on the inside of her right foot.

The tattoo, according to People.com, reads "Norman," a tribute to her precious 15-year-old Welsh corgi-terrier mix. Aniston's beloved dog sadly passed away last month.

"Men come and go but there really is no relationship like the one you have with a dog -- and then they don't live as long as they should," she once told a British news outlet. "You have to say goodbye way too soon. It's just so sad. It makes me so sad. But their love is unconditional and I love that," Aniston added.
No word on where the actress, 42, got her tattoo, or whether any other names will be inked onto her body; she is reportedly also the owner of a German shepherd mix named Dolly. Meanwhile, she's clearly been cheered up in the past few weeks by spending a lot of quality time with Theroux. The writer-actor sat in the front row of Aniston's recent 'Inside the Actors' Studio' taping, where his new girlfriend reportedly teared up while discussing the loss of Norman. But what's one thing that's noticeably absent from Justin Bieber's girl's video? The pastel purple ponies Gomez had painted for the video -- a move that severely angered her fellow pop songstress and animal rights activist, Pink. But what the ponies left out Gomez certainly made up for her with her best 50's Pink Lady impressions and Bohemian romance novel recreations.
"This song is fun and I wanted it to be really high fashion and different and I think we have accomplished that," Gomez told E! News.
And according to Gomez, this "fun" love song is all about her past and current flames.

"Because I'm only 18, I think love is supposed to be really fun," she explained. "So that's how I interpret it, at this point in my life. I think it's really fun and you are supposed to enjoy it, kinda dive in."

Gomez sure is 'diving in' when it comes to her wet and wild PDA with Bieber -- it's good to see this teen queen is taking her own advice. So does Gomez love the 'Baby' singer like a love song?

"Maybe," she coyly answered. We'll take that as a yes.
