Point Peron is an amazing place where you would not want to miss out when you are in Rockingham. You can walk on the shandy beach and explore the reefs and climb on the rocky foreshore for the panoramic views. The trails here are within 1-2km, unsealed but walkable (easy). Also, you are likely to spot the dolphins here!

The Home To The Colony Of Little Penguins - Penguin Island

A famous day trip to the beautiful nature reserve with the largest colony of penguins in WA. The boardwalks and trails will bring you 360 degree view of the island. The stunning coastal scenery and get up close with those wildlife will definitely amazed you!

Attractions: Wildlife, secluded bays, limestone reef

Getting there: 45 minutes south of Perth to Rockingham Wild Encounters and take a 5 minutes ferry ride across the Shoalwater Bay.

*you can also walk cross the sandbar in low tide (took about 20 minutes), fun but risky.

It wasn't disappointed without any sign of wild penguins on the island in day time, usually they don't back on the island after dark. there's still so much to enjoy here such as the white sand beach, crystal clear water, impressive sea caves, birds and sea lions. Penguin feeding is available in the Discovery center, check out from Rockingham Wild Encounters. Picnic with friends and family beside the beautiful beaches with the view of the Shoalwater bay is a good idea!
There's limited facilities on the island, bring your own food and water, wear comfortably and most importantly take all the rubbish with you back to the mainland.

A Great Day Trip in Auckland Region - Rangitoto Island

The youngest volcano in Auckland volcanic field which emerging from the sea 600 years old. It's a favorite day trip destination for nature lover to hike, picnic, swim, see the native flora and fauna.

Attractions: Rugged lava fields, Summit track, Motutapu Island (neighbor), pohutukawa forest.

Getting there: 25 minutes scenic ferry ride (Fullers Ferries) from downtown Auckland harbour or from Devenport.

A very nice one day date with nature. Please prepare that there is no shop, no transport and limited drinking water in the island, do bring enough drinking water, sun block and wear comfortably. The summit track is about 1 hour walk and bring you the gorgeous 360 degree panoramic view of Auckland iconic landmarks. We found many special flora on the way that we never seen before, it's very impressive! No campsite in Rangitoto Island but at Home Bay, Motutapu Island which the neighbour island and you can walk to there if you want to see the sunset and spend a night there. There is also Fullers' Motutapu Island ferries run from Auckland to Home Bay.

A Warm Salty Breeze Holiday - Rottnest Island

Rottnest Island is a beautiful nature reserve landscape and it is special with many unique flora and wildlife. It's easy to explore the island by cycling or service vehicle such as shuttle bus or car from hotel service. Get a island guide at the visitor center after your off from the ferry. It has the information about the Island including the map, cycling paths, walking trail routes. a full list of things to do and see in the island.

I just spend a day cycling around in the Island and didn't manage to finish explore the island (only half). If you plan to make it in 1 day, take the shuttle bus and stop by at some attractions and snorkeling spot which are worth to (Parker Point). 2-3 days is suggested to fully experience of Rottnest Island cycling/snorkeling/diving/tracking, so you would not miss out anything! Summer is usually the hot season to visit but the other seasons might be better without the crowd.

The Open House Perth is a non profit organization to open the door to many significant and interesting buildings and spaces with helps to promote the city and the local WA design to public, and to globally. This event was such a great chance to know this city better (for Free)!

Here are some of my favorite places.

Bell Tower
This winning architectural design building has become the iconic building in Perth and also in Western Australia. FREE entry during this event to let you experience the spectacle ringing sound from this world's giant musical instrument and get to know the history of the Bell Tower. Besides, visit to the ringing chamber and the observation deck for the view of Perth city are very impressive.

108 ST George Terrace

This is an office town in the heart of the city which open to access to the balcony in level 51 with the great view of Swan River. This 52 level tower is also known as an unique landmark defining the Perth Skyline and important role in the city's history.

This is an example of the modernist architecture in the Perth city. The building light up by LED lights at night. There was a guide to show the public to the council meeting room with explanation was the best part to this event.

A heritage building with a clock in the city of Perth, one of the iconic building in the city with rich history of Perth since 1867. It's now open for events hiring.

P and O Building Rooftop Tour

The building still remain the old style classic lift and mail tunnel. Unfortunately, the mail tunnel is not working anymore. Went to the rooftop without a wide view of the city was a bit disappointed but you can see a few significant buildings around there.

I missed out the Central Park Rooftop Tour, I suppose this tour was the best in this event. I'm falling in love with this city after visiting these beautiful places with the history and story behind.

To find the beauty of a place, history does matter.

A Peaceful Yet Beautiful Village in Myanmar - Inle Lake

Inle Lake is located in Nyaung Shwe Township. The local people (Intha) have their unique life base entirely on the water. Cycling and walking around the town and the lakeside to have stunning view of the lake and experience the lifestyle in rural village.

Attractions: Boat Tour, Traditional handicraft, Leg rowing fishermen

Getting there: Base in Nyaung Shwe town as most of the boat trips start at the town. You can also cycling to explore the scenery of the eastern side of the lake.

The street beside the river get busy very early in the morning. The river is like their life source, it's very important for living. They use it to send goods, transportation and also in tourism.

The boat tour include,
- Floating market
- Floating gardens
- Ywama village
- Various handicraft or cottage industry workshops
- Pagodas
- Indein Village (Special boat tour)

It costs around 8000-10000Kyat if you look for the boatmen at the riverside. They have a fairly set route like the boat tour but it's time flexible to avoid crowd in the high season. 4000-6000Kyat to hire a boat just for the lake view. Book the tour from the hostel/hotel will costs 15000-25000Kyat depending on the packages (route). *The price mentioned is for a boat, up to 4 person.

You get to see a different lifestyle on the lake, a must see Indein Village will bring you a whole new experience of Myanmar with the local market and spectacular temples. The other main classic handicraft stops are to see silver making, cheroots, lotus weaving, blacksmiths, boat building.

A simple life, where the kind hearts around. The real taste to experience is always the best part in travelling.

While I was traveling, I'd been asked tons of questions always. Besides of those 'official questions' like where are you from/ how long have you been traveling/ what countries have you been to/ Where to go the next... Most of the time, people is curious and will ask about your country if they have never been to.

Southeast Asia is a trip that more on to experience. The expenses there is pretty low compare with travelling to other countries. With only $22, you can have more than average acceptable life in Southeast Asia. Let's see how we make it!

Search for the best deal! Normally, a bed in a dorm is around $4-6 but we always got the standard double with breakfast for just $10, which $5/person ($7-$12 for a room). We used Hotel Combined to compare the price and search for the best deal. This website is very useful and user friendly.

Transportation

Motorbike is the best way and cheapest way to explore Southeast Asia. Usually, not more than $10 for renting a motorbike + gas for a day ($5/person). Bicycle is another option that cost less.
By the way, public transports like bus, mini van will save you more. Sometimes, you don't even have to spend a dime on transportation if your destination is within walking distance. Backpackers used to walk a lot, as we do.

Food & Drink

You can have a $5 meal in a restaurant with air conditioner or to get the same food with only $2.50 (drink is included) in the local market. Honestly speaking, you can hardly find $1 meal everywhere now. Also, spend $1-$2 for the drinking water, you really need this.

Others

You need to pay for entrance fee to some places. Otherwise, we still have $2 for souvenir or we can sometimes dine in a restaurant with dessert and beer!

You spend less on transportation in Thailand, the accommodation in Vietnam is the cheapest, the Angkor Wat pass $40 for 3 days etc. Myanmar costs more on accommodation, passes and also transportation. This is just a roughly budget (average) for a day in Southeast Asia, more of less for a day. Besides the daily expenses, there's also additional cost such as long distance bus/train, flight, visa fee and the pass fee. For us, with $22 which is more than enough to have an enjoyable journey with good food and comfortable stay!

I've lived in 3 countries in the past 3 years and I'm still moving. Moving aboard sounds a cool thing in life. 'Oh, nice! You're traveling again'... most of the people always see the good side than the bad one. So, I'm going to tell you now how hard can the life be sometime.

1. The work is hard
I spend my days and nights in work, Another say, I work very hard for this. I remembered the first week of tomatoes picking, the work was physically exhausted that make me thinking to give up and going back home. You got to have a very strong mind to make through it.

2. You got no one with you
I was a solo traveler in almost most of my trip. I always meet new friends in the journey but deep inside my heart, I know clearly that no one can really share my burden and worries. I cried after I talked to my parents on phone. At the end I know I have to stay strong, no matter when and what.

3. Yes, I can do it
Moving is another way of learning but it could become harder when we grow order. To adapt to a new place, NO is meaning that I have to go back home. I must make everything work.

Most of the time, problems come to you from nowhere, you got nowhere to escape. It is stressful. Complain ain't help, it only bring negative energy and let you realize how suck is your life now. Are you still thinking to moving aboard? Good luck then.

The Relaxing and Finest Coastal Track - Abel Tasman Coast Track

The Abel Tasman track is one of the great walk in New Zealand. To explore the bay, it takes 3-5 days to complete the whole track which go along the coast for about 60km. You can either take a short walk, kayaking or the boat trip to explore the bay.

The Amazing Ever Adventure To The World Heritage Site- Franz Josef Glacier

The Franz Josef Glacier is the easiest access glacier in the world, it's only 5 km away from the town. You can choose to hike from the glacier car park to the lookout point for the spectacular overview of the river or explore it by stepping on the ice, experience the amazing glacier.

Getting there: At the West Coast, follow the Highway 6, about 1 hour 40 minutes drive from Hokitika.

The river flow very fast, big changes of the glacier can be seen in two week time. This is definitely an ultimate adventure to contact with the ice and explore the waterfall, ice cave and the blue ice. The amazing thing I had done in my life, ever.

Travel and Adventure in Vietnam - Transportation

Travel in Vietnam is quite convenience with different kinds of transportation, it depends on your schedule and budget to choose which one to take. You can reach most of the attractions by public transportation. I'd tried different ways to travel there and these are kind of special 'Vietnam experience' besides of sightseeing.

Train
This is the safest way to travel in Vietnam but it usually takes longer time than bus. Beside the normal seat, there's also sleeping bed in the train which has 4 and 6 beds to choose from. You can book the meal in advance or just buy it when the crew come with the food cart, exactly like in the airplane. The view along the way is super awesome that I think you should try at least once to travel by train.

Bus
There's options for you to travel by bus, you can either choose the normal bus tour which you book it from one place to one place (for those who doesn't have the plan of where to go the next) or the sleeping bus tour.

Sleeping bus is very popular and the bus company provide the route from South to North and vice verse. It's like hop on hop off tour and time flexible as well, for example:

HCMC --> Nha Trang --> Hoi An --> Hue --> Hanoi

When you arrive Nha Trang from HCMC, just check the schedule to Hoi An from the bus company and book it whenever you want. That's means you can departure to the next stop any day you want.
It's faster than train but more expensive. However, you can't have a good sleep as the non-stop honking habit in Vietnam is killing the peace and also some drivers are drive crazily. Sinh Cafe is the most reliable bus company and the Camel is the worst.

Motorbike
This is definitely the craziest way to travel in Vietnam as everyone knows the traffic in Vietnam is super chaos! Yet, it's very convenience and the cheapest way to reach every corner in Vietnam. You'll learn to honk crazily in order to keep you safe. This will be the most adventure experience to travel in Vietnam.

Besides these, taxi and mototaxi are for the short ride in the city. You have to bargain with the driver and the price they offer is always 3 times higher. Other than that, you can easily find the tours to some attractions by the hostel/hotel and travel agencies on the street. Group tour is usually higher the price, comfortable way and least experience way to travel. However, some of the tours here are really worth the money, not expensive yet quality local experience. Take some time to survey around and compare, you can always find a good deal.

Southeast Asia is full of mystery, everything is challenging. Forget about internet, convenience stores, clean restroom, air conditioner... yet good people is everywhere here. There are many things that you have to take notes and be well preparation to enjoy the trip.

1. Pack light
No matter where you're going to, heavy luggage will always make you feel tired, especially in Southeast Asia. Laundry can be found easily.

2. Know their culture and being respectful
Do some research about the countries you're going to visit to, respect others cultures and be polite all the time. Once a Cambodian told me about this, never say 'You're crazy' no matter how angry you are, it means the person is a psychopath. Cite a case, the Sabah earthquake with the nudists, the earthquake happened was nothing to do with them but they did broke the law. Don't get yourself in trouble because of this.

3. Learn a few words in local language
English+body language are used widely in Southeast Asia but learn the words like 'Hello' and 'Thank You' to show your respect and being polite to the local. You will get a friendly respond from them always!

4. Go off beaten path
I am not telling you to skip the attraction but just spend some time go off the tourism spots. There is where you can get a true color of the country, you'll never want to miss this kind of experience.

5. Booking ahead is not recommended
Rushing the schedule will ruin your trip sometimes. You can't always arrive to your destination on time due to the road condition here. However, the main reason is because you want to hang out with new friends, attracted by the beautiful view or just want to enjoy the peaceful life there. So, plan could change anytime.

6. Bargain
When you want to buy something or have a meal, do ask the price first! Bargain is needed almost every time before you pay. Do remember, offer a price that is reasonable. Don't go too low as they are making this for life.

7. Myanmar is a MUST
If you planning to travel to Southeast Asia, Myanmar comes first. The tourism in Myanmar is going slowly than the other countries in Southeast Asia. When then tourism is over developing, everything is commercialized, including the people.

8. Take care of your belonging
Be aware of the pick pocketing and also the scammer. The people is Southeast Asia are very kind and friendly but this could happened sometime.

The Stunning Clifftop Walk in Golden Bay - Cape Farewell & Wharariki Beach

The Northern Most in South Island where you can have an awesome track along the cliff to meet the Tasman Sea. Best to visit when low tide which allow you to walk under the arch of the rocks, walk full length of the beach when the water is out.

Attractions: Cape Farewell Arch, Split Farewell, Wharaiki Beach,

Getting there: About 53km North of Takaka, follow the route 60 (1 hour 10 minutes).

*The view at Takaka Hill is beautiful but stay focus driving on the zigzag path!

Spend a day in Golden Bay and go tracking for the gorgeous panoramic view. I had just limited time for a short walking track start at a car park at Wharaiki Road through a farmland to the Cape Farewell (1 1/2 hour return). This walk brings you to the lookout over the Cape farewell. Watch out of the steep cliff and the strong wind.

Wharariki Beach is known as Archway Island with big rocks and big cove. However you can only have this view at low tide. Catch the sunset at Wharariki Beach, just 40 minutes return walk through a farmland, coastal forest and the sand dunes to the beach. Seals are always having a sun bath on the rock!

The Best Route From Canterbury to the West Coast in New Zealand - Arthur's Pass

Arthur's Pass located in the heart of the Southern Alps which have two different landscape at the East and West (the riverbeds run through the valleys to the rain-forest), open-wide spectacular view!

Get the information and find out the activities to do from the Arthur's Pass Visitor Center which in center of the town. From short walk to Avalanche Creek Waterfall (10 minutes return), Devils Punchbowl Waterfall (1 hour return) to more adventure a day hiking to the peak for the 360 degree mountain view. There's also many other walking trail to the stunning landscape (check out with the visitor center), also fishing, skiing, camping which you can spend a day or two there.

The weather can be unpredictable, do prepare yourself with warm clothes for the climate change.

Challenge Yourself to The World Inspiring Nature Site - Tongariro National Park

Tongariro National Park is the oldest park in New Zealand and also the World Heritage Site which with the beautiful yet unique landscape, also three active volcanic mountains, Mount Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe, and Tongariro are in the center of the park.

Attractions: Tongariro Alpine Crossing Trail, The Lord of the Ring film trilogy.

Getting there: 94KM of West-Southwest of Lake Taupo. The easiest and nearest way to access from the border town-Turangi, shuttle is available.

Hiking in Summer and skiing in the Winter are the most popular activities here. Tongariro Alpine Crossing which a side trip to the summit of Mount Tongariro, one of the great walk in New Zealand. It's a 19.4KM journey, 6 1/2 - 7 1/2 hours (3 more hours in return to climb up to the summit). Hike in the unstable environment and unpredictable weather is really challenging. The view at the summit of the three incredible lakes is amazing!

The Beautiful Nature Soul in the Far North of New Zealand - Cape Reinga

It is a long scenic drive to the end of the road. Walking down to the lighthouse to see the fascinating ocean view and head way back to a high point to have the panoramic view of the ocean and the beach. It is really breathtaking.

About 17km way back from Cape Reinga, experience the giant Te Paki Sand Dunes and have fun of the sand surfing!

Glittering Night Sky - Lake Tekapo

Lake Tekapo is the second largest lake in South Island with the Southern Alps view and the milky-turquoise colour lake. It's a famous of the purest dark night sky. One of the photo spot for southern light.

Attractions: Church of the Good Shepherd, Lupin Flowers (early December)

Getting there: South West of Christchurch (about 3 hours Drive).

Lake Tekapo is pretty amazing especially during the winter and summer. It snows sometimes and the reflection of the Southern Apls with snow on the lake create this beautiful ever scenery. During the summer (early of December and last about a month), the hills around are covered with brilliantly coloured lupin flowers.

Heading north of the town, an astronomical observatory is located at Mount John, a great lookout of the Lake Tekapo and few lakes nearby. Go south of the amazing small lake- Lake Alexandrina.

Take a half day city walking tour to know about this city, the tour cover many attractions in the city centre! (check out the free tour ). Continue to discover the Rocks and Circular Quay and spending the night there for a nice dinner and the stunning night views.

Day 2:

Visit to Darling Harbour and the Fish Market, try the freshness ever seafood there. Have a ferry journey to see the city from different view in the morning and then enjoy the beautiful beaches and the sunshine at Manly beach and Bondi beach.

Day 3:
Visit the petting zoo- Featherdale Wildlife Park (about 45km from the city center), get yourself an up close and ultimate interaction with the wildlife, Kangaroos and Koalas!

Tips

Check the opening hours of the local markets- Paddington Market, Paddy's Market. Fit into your trip and make it more interesting!

If you have more days in Sydney, Blue Mountain and Hunter Valley are the best options for you.

Lovely Christmas Celebration

Hohoho! Christmas is around the corner! It brings up my memory of the Christmas celebration in US, the memory is still fresh. It was really a lovely Christmas that I never had even though there was no snows like what I was expected, the white Christmas.

Christmas is a festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25. We'd a whole week for the Christmas customs, not even miss a single thing.

It was finally the 'Christmas Night' after a week of preparation.

Everyone was so excited for the real Christmas dinner. The traditional Christmas dinner in US are usually turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, squash, roaster vegetables, pie and cakes... We got all of them!

The most exciting moment was the gifts exchange! It was so happy to see the smile on my lovely friends' face, reading the message from the Christmas card and the how surprise they were when they unwrapped the gifts :)

I didn't have such a traditional Christmas celebration before. From the preparation to the 'Christmas Night', I realized how important and meaningful of this festival. Thank you my US family. I really miss you all...

This year, I'll have my first ever Christmas in the Summer time in New Zealand. I'm looking forward to it :)

North Island is totally different from South Island in New Zealand, no great lakes but awesome beaches here! Sound of the waves, the smell of the salted sea, ocean breeze on me, remind me that it's SUMMER now!

Attraction: Gannets Colony (August-March)

Getting there: West of Auckland, accessible from the motorway (about 1 hour Drive).

New Zealand Working Holiday Visa Extension For Malaysian

Working Holiday Visa Extension
The visa for Malaysian is last for 6 moths start from the date when you arrive and you can extend for another 3 months. You'll granted the same conditions of your visa for these 3 months. First, you got to fulfil the certain requirements to extend the visa:

1. Involve in agriculture work for at least 3 month s (prove it with 12 payslips/tax paying-IRD record)
2. Sufficient fund (NZ$2250) /return ticket
3. Application form - INZ 1153

Some people are intended to stay longer after the visa expired, let's see this is what you can do.
Travel Visa Extension
You can also get the travel visa for another 3 months after the working holiday visa expired.

Living in New Zealand, working and travelling... Honestly, I found this isn't easy, my work (tomatoes picking) is pretty tired... but still I really enjoy it, it's fun after all!!! I'm glad I made it and the days in New Zealand will never be forgotten in my life. What I love about this is because it allows me to work and travel at the same time. That's mean, you got to stay in another country to experience their lifestyle and travel without breaking bank.

Here's some information that I would want to share about visa application. If you were interested and qualified, get yourself prepared!

1. To be eligible
- be 18-30 years old
- Holding a Malaysian passport (more than 6 months on the date you depart)
- Money $$ for living and travelling

2. Apply for visa
There's quota about 1150, around that. New quota open every January (check from the website to confirm the date and time when close).
Go to the New Zealand Immigration website, register for the online services and fill up the application form (when places available). You'll need a credit card to pay the application fee (about NZ$165).

You'll receive an email to confirm your application and another email after 2-5 days if your application is successful.

3. Research
You can depart within a year after your visa is approved. Plan your trip and book the flight ticket.
This is the most important and hardest part. You might not want to waste the time and spend lot of money when you get there and do nothing. Make your journey easier with more contacts!
