TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

As believers in Jesus, we have what the Scripture calls “the blessing.” It’s God’s empowerment, His divine enablement to accomplish the dreams He’s given us. The blessing is simply God’s favor on your life. It’s when He’s breathing in your direction. When you walk in the blessing, you make good decisions. You see supernatural opportunities. The right people come across your path. You realize it’s not your own strength or ability; it’s the blessing of God on your life.

We’ve all experienced a measure of this blessing. We’ve seen a measure of God’s favor. But I believe there is a level of blessing that God wants to release in your life like nothing you’ve ever seen before. He wants you to experience the fullness of His blessing. That word “fullness” means “to the highest degree and the greatest measure.”

Today, I encourage you to open up your heart and mind up to receive the fullness, the highest and greatest measure, of His favor and blessing. Don’t settle where you are. Instead, look for ways to yield yourself more to Him and allow Him to work in your life to a greater degree. Through faith and patience, you will inherit His promises and enjoy the abundant life He has prepared for you!

Happy Easter!

Easter has always been a special part of our family's observance of Holy Week. Sunrise Service or Worship has been an integral part of my childhood "religious" experience. I have no idea back then as to the meaning of Easter Sunday, but since everyone in the family went to Sunrise Service, I tagged along.

Easter early morning service was always set at 5:00 A.M. For the longest time during my childhood days, the sound of the Hallelujah Chorus by Handel woke me up at around 4:00 A.M. It was my Tiya Viring (Aunt) who took it to herself to wake up the whole household (and our neighbors) with the loud "singing" of the record player.

Sunrise Service has always been "fun" as our church was creative enough to set the worship service outdoors. It was nice to attend church sitting on the grass or on mats spread on rocky terrain.

Years passed and the "tradition" of Holy Week went on. As I grew older and started a family, the tradition lived on. There was one glaring difference though. I now know the true meaning of Holy Week. I know that our Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us from sins and give us everlasting life. I now know that death did not defeat Christ as in the third day he arose from the grave and ascend to heaven. I now know that traditions will not save us but repenting for our sins and accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Savior will.

No one is perfect. No one is sinless. But the good news is, we have a loving and gracious Father in heaven that is ready to forgive if we seek for forgiveness.

Of Doctors, Nurses and Nannies

There is a growing "conspiracy" here in Manila for middle and upper class mommies to "dress" their children's nannies in nursing scrubs! Most spas and health centers also choose to have their staff dressed in cheap scrubs too.

Where is the problem then? Well, now it is hard to figure out the nannies and spa attendants from nurses and doctors. They all wear scrubs! Go to a mall where there is a proliferation of young families with nannies in tow. These nannies are easy to spot for they wear the usual plain pants and colorful printed tops nursing uniforms.

There should not be a problem here as surely anyone is free to wear what he/she wants to wear. The problem is in the fact that doctors, dentists and nurses wear scrub suits too. D1 is a doctor while D3 is a dentist. They wear scrubs. One time we all met at ATC for dinner. Since they both came from work they were still wearing their scrubs. Ethan was with us and he chanced upon one of his classmates and his family. The young family had a baby and nanny with them. When they left, we all burst out laughing as the nanny was wearing the exact shade of scrubs that D1, the anesthesiologist, was wearing!

What God Calls You

In scripture, God called Gideon a mighty man of fearless courage. Now Gideon looked around and said, “God couldn’t be talking about me. I come from the poorest family. I’m the least one in my father’s house.” Gideon saw himself as weak, defeated, and not able. But God saw him as strong, confident, and being more than a conqueror.

The question is are we going to believe what God says about us, or are we going to believe what we feel, what we think, or what the circumstances look like? You may feel weak today, but God calls you strong. You may feel like a victim, but God calls you a victor. You may be afraid, but God calls you confident. You may be in debt, God calls you prosperous. You may be sick, God calls you well. You may be addicted, God calls you free. You may feel inadequate, but God calls you well able.

Today, get into agreement with God. No matter what the circumstances look like, you’ve got to dig your heels in and say, “God, I agree with what You call me. I’m free, forgiven and healed in Jesus’ Name!”

Un-Hate Your Enemy

There are three types of love: Eros, Phileo and Agape. Eros connotes to sensual love. Phileo connotes to brotherly love. Agape has always been associated to God's love. But, do you know that apostle Paul put a spin into the meaning of the word Agape? Paul defined it in a different context. Agape links you to God and is all about giving you the strength to love your enemies and the unlovable. It can make you reach out across the distance that separates you from them. Agape love is empowering. It makes you a strong person,

Loving an enemy is hard. It should be a step-by-step process. First, forgive your enemy. Next, "un-hate" your enemy. Loving your enemy might not be easy. How can you love someone who continuous to oppress you? Be not troubled. At least now, you don't hate your enemies. The Lord does wonders. Wait.

Idolatry

New Year Reflections

Another year had passed and I am sure that each one of us has had our fill of joys and hurts; unexpected blessing and trials. What have you learned all through 2010? Did you become a better person? Were you able to learn something out of your experiences? Is your heart hardened and now believes that God has let you down?

Everything happens for a reason. God is perfect and His plan for us is perfect too. All we need to do is trust God. It is sometimes hard to completely surrender to God's will as we tend to use our own intelligence which is just human nature.

This new year, let us all be more aware that God has a perfect plan for us. Let us all strive to be a better person. If someone had hurt us or has done us wrong, now is the time to forgive. Getting "even" is not an option. Putting one over someone is not an option too. I have repeatedly told my children to honest in everything they do for I believe that deceit or stealing, however small they are, are still abominable in God's eyes. My girls and I tend to be overly loud when "fighting" for what we believe in. We believe that fair is fair. I have taught my children to voice out their opinion but often, this characteristic is often misunderstood as being rude and disrespectful.

Integrity and honesty are important aspect of our lives. I have repeatedly drummed into my kids that they should respect the elderly but not to the point where their personal values and opinion are compromised. I have repeatedly told my children that education is important and that their quest to succeed should not be at the expense of other people.

I have received numerous reports that there are certain persons who are intent on ruining our reputation by spreading lies about us. There are some persons who feel that we have trodden on them all because the truth has been shielded and twisted. To these persons, let it be known that the truth will prevail in the end. However, I and my children have already gathered together in prayer to forgive those who have offended and hurt us. May the persons who we have offended and hurt find it in their hearts to forgive us too.

No one is perfect. It is only Jesus Christ, as man, who was/is perfect. In essence, this means that we all make mistakes and in the process, sin. But! God is so gracious that when we seek repentance, He forgives.

May the Lord's blessings be upon you. Jehovah Jireh! May the Lord be your great provider. Jehovah Rophi! May the Lord heal you physically, emotionally and spiritually. Jehovah Rohi! May the Lord truly be your Shepherd.

Great is Thy Faithfulness

God is good.

It does not matter if we sin on a daily basis. It does not matter if we forget to pray and give thanks for the blessings we receive on a daily basis. It does not matter if we completely forget about God and just come running back to Him once we are in deep trouble.

God is so forgiving and loving that He does not care if we are so selfish that we only think of ourselves. The grace of God is like a ray of light that is always on us. It never wavers. It never goes away.

Let us praise God for all the mighty things that He has done. Let us all cling to His wonderful promise of Victory in our daily struggles. Amen!

When was the last time you imagined God doing something supernatural in your life? Is there a relationship that needs restoration? Is there a business you've wanted to start, but you are holding back? If there were no limitations on your life, if anything were possible, what would you be willing to imagine?

Friend, the only limits on your life are the limits you have in your mind, and God wants to do exceedingly more than you can even imagine today! He wants to overwhelm you with His goodness and amaze you with His faithfulness. But in order for Him to exceed what you've imagined, you have to at least be imagining something! Why don't you take a step of faith today and let your imagination come to life? Begin to see in your mind all the possibilities for your future. Meditate on the amazing things God has done throughout history. Let that seed of faith take root in your heart. Hold on to His promises because He is faithful. He is able to exceed your expectations and go beyond what you can imagine today!

But the reason some people never reach their highest potential is because they never get away from the wrong people.

Recognize today that not everyone can go where God is taking you. You've got to connect with people who understand your destiny and can call forth your seeds of greatness. You don't have time to spend on people who are always pushing you down, telling you what you can't do, or never giving you their approval no matter how hard you try. Friend, life is too short to drag people along. If you will get the wrong people out of your life, then God will bring in the right people so you can fulfill the destiny He has in store for you.

Do you need your strength renewed today? The scripture tells us that when we hope in the Lord, that's exactly what will happen—our strength will be renewed. If you've grown weary and tired, overwhelmed by the cares of this world, it's a clear sign that you need to change what you're putting your hope in. Are you putting your hope in your job? The government? The economy? Another person? Those are all things that will change. But when you hope in the Lord, you are investing in the Rock of Ages! He never changes! He is the only solid foundation for your soul.

Today, find strength by simply putting your hope in Him. Start by declaring out loud, "God, I place my hope in You. I trust that You are working behind the scenes in my life. I choose to rest in You." Then, feed your hope and faith by meditating daily on the scriptures. Summer time is fast closing to an end my side of the world. While the rest of the temperate region is getting ready to meet summer vacation head-on,the other side of the world is getting ready to get back to school. As a last "hurrah" my kids and I went to the beach for a last dip before summer ends. We prefer to soak in the pool for the sea water was teeming with jellyfish. Nice place though :)

Your enemies may have some power today, but remember, our God is All Powerful! There’s no foe that can stand against Him. Those things you are facing are temporary, but God Almighty is eternal. Renovations!

There are some minor renovations that are ongoing in my house right now. It all started when the refrigerator short-circuited which in turn burnt the unit. There was nothing really wrong with the electric wiring in the house. What went wrong was the cord was bitten by a mouse which in turn exposed the wire thereby causing it spark that eventually burn the unit. By the time I was aware of what was happening one wall of the kitchen was already on fire.

The fire was put out. The ref was a total wreck that I needed to buy a new one. Refrigerators are quite expensive and the choices are so varied it's hard to choose which one was best for the house. In times like this, it would have been a great help if I had some Savings Home Depot coupons. I would have saved a bunch if I had coupons for Home Depot. So I bought the refrigerator and it is now sitting mighty proud in its repainted corner.

The kitchen was looking so nice and fresh with its new paint and new refrigerator. I felt the urge to repaint the utility room too and then the basement. The minor repainting has not stopped for now I want to get some new odds and ends at Target. I wonder how many coupons at Target I need to get a major discount on a LCD TV.
