Today's way of life is fast and stressful and most of the times there is no time to laugh. Intelligently written comedies can help to alter this state of mind and tensions of a person and thus refresh him for the challenges of life. Director Rajesh’s who has given two consecutive hits proves once again that he is the king of comedies. Oru Kal Oru Kannadi is a barrel of laughs with a wafer-thin story. Saravanan (Uday) and Parthasarathy (Santhanam) work at a popular multiplex and are close buddies. Saravanan sees Meera (Hansika) at a traffic signal and it is love at first sight for him. He follows her and realises that she is the daughter of a top police officer (Sayaji Shinde) and she is not interested in him. What follows is a roller-coaster ride, as Saravanan tries to impress and win Meera’s love as she does not think great about him. OKOK works largely because of Rajesh’s smart packaging, dialogues and the lead actors Uday and Santhanam, as their chemistry is unbeatable. The film is light and easy and enjoyable for the most part. The pace is fast and the jokes come at furious speed. Packed with clever one-liners, Santhanam carries the film to the winning post. He is in top form and no wonder; he is a superstar in his own right. Uday’s debut is promising and hats off to him (he is also the producer) to underplay his role and allow Santhanam, Hansika and Saranya to hog the show. The film wouldn't be half the film it is if it weren't for the abundant charm and sheer screen presence of Hansika. One of the highlights in the film is the one in which Hansika brings her fiancée to a restaurant to introduce Saravavan to him and the scenes inside the aircraft. Hansika’s lip sync is perfect, comedy timing is impeccable and she looks good. Saranya Ponvannan is outstanding in creating a lovable and ultimately memorable character as Saravanan’s mother who is struggling to complete her graduation. It's hard to imagine another actor pull off such an unselfconscious performance with such ease. Harris songs though repetitive is hummable and the pick of the album is Kathal Oru Butterfly and Veenam Macha. Picturisation reminds you of several Suriya songs (Ayan, Aadhavan among others). If all you're looking for is a relaxed time at the movies, then, this is Good Fun. Go with your buddies, you'll laugh till you have tears in your eyes! Verdict –Rollicking comedy

A few minutes into Gautham Menon's latest film the leading man (Prateik Babbar) is shown seated in a church, muttering to himself, "Mujhe Jessie Se Hi Kyon Pyaar Hona Tha? (Why did I have to fall in love with Jessie)".

The leading lady is at the altar, waiting for her groom. The audience is expected to hold their breaths, as the flashback unfolds. Not the most original beginning for a love story.

While there are directors who dig relentlessly for a new theme around which a rom-com can be built, there are others such as Gautham Menon who believe old cliches are the best plot points for a love story. For starters, the girl is a year older to the boy. Then they come from different religions. The boy is a passionate movie buff, hopes to make a career in films. The girl's family doesn't even watch films. The girl's brother is a toughie who needs an excuse to start a fight. But there is something called love at first sight. You get the drift.

Prateik Babbar plays Sachin -- the quintessential Maharashtrian middle-class romantic. He watches films, mooches off his older buddy Manu Rishi. Amy Jackson plays Jessie, the 'docile' middle-class girl who dutifully sets off for office each morning with her laptop bag and immaculately draped sarees. Prateik's career hasn't really taken off so he spends his days planning on how he can bump into Jessie. The 'accidental' meetings which happened at bus stops through the '70s and '80s now happen at the closest Mcdonalds.

It's a slow screenplay where the director hopes to convey the couple's despair with their inability to come together. For a scenario like this, performances must be superlative to engage the viewer. Each glance, every gesture must speak for itself. It is here itself that Ekk Deewana Tha fails to deliver.

Prateik Babbar has considerably beefed up his body since Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na days and doesn't look like a fresh twenty-two year old love-stricken graduate. He tries hard (maybe a little too hard) but eventually all he deserves are brownie points for his efforts rather than his acting abilities.

Amy Jackson, with a digitally altered skin tone, lacks the sizzling sensuality most South Indian gals are blessed with. What comes across is a mass of wavy black hair which needs to be oiled or combed. Ideally both. Where is the angst a young girl goes through when she must choose between her father or the man she loves?

Given their limited acting abilities, they just do not come through as a couple. And with the spark missing, the innumerable tiffs and make-ups and casual kisses just serve in endlessly prolonging the film.

Manu Rishi in his small role as Prateik's friend-philosopher-guide is great fun. The few laughs one enjoys are the times when he is on screen. A R Rahman's music doesn't make an impact.

Good cinematography and great locations in Kerala make some portions a visual treat. Another redeeming factor is the absence of item songs and unnecessary sub-plots.

Ekk Deewana Tha is the Hindi remake of Gautham Menon's Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya which was a huge commercial hit. Somewhere, something obviously got lost in translation.

Debutant director Balaji Mohan, who earned recognition through Kalaignar TV’s ‘Naalaya Iyakunar’, has tried his hand in making a full length feature film through ‘Kadhalil Sodhapuvadu Yeppadi’. The movie has Siddharth ( Arun), Amala Paul ( Paarvathi) in the lead roles besides a pool of supporting cast like Ravi Raghavendra, Sriranjani, Suresh etc.

Kadhalil Sodhapuvadu Yeppadi story :
The movie begins with the narration of Siddharth explaining about how he faltered in his love and from there on the lecture starts. Siddharth, an ECE student , who lives an easy life with the support of his good parents falls in love with Amala Paul, who studies in Computer Science department. As usual, the couple face tiffs every now and then and a final outbreak ends in breakup. Losing hope on patching up with Paarvathy, Arun sets off to divert is mind with the help of his friends.

In the meanwhile, Paarvathy’s father (Suresh) and her mother apply for divorce due to mutual concern, and the case falls in the laps of Arun’s father (Ravi Raghavendra). The movie toggles between real life sequences and flashbacks holding Siddharth and Amala Paul’s love sequences and petty quarrels. Despite of Arun’s efforts to patch up with Paarvathy, the couple fail to succeed due to a lot of difference in opinions. Amala Paul, who is shown as the dominating character of the relationship, finally melts down after seeing her parents patching about after a years-long fight and makes her first attempt to patch up. The couple’s reunion, with a list of messages forms the climax.

Kadhalil Sodhapuvadu Yeppadi Review :

The very first thing to be mentioned is debutant director Balaji Mohan’s screenplay which he has tailored in a engaging, rather not boring manner. The director has chosen, apt faces for filling up each and every character, which is one of the main plus of the movie. The happenings seems to be unrealistic in a few sequences, but it is a usual thing in rom-coms.

On the acting front, Siddharth scores well as a charming, lovable college guy, which he is used to and continuing to do in most of his ventures. Amala Paul’s has done her job well. The supporting roles need a special mention, as they are the one who give us some timeout from Arun-Pavathy’s story narration, which at times seems to bore us a bit.

About the technicalities, Nirav Shah has done his best with the lens. The colors and locations shot, right from the college campus to each and every other place in the frame, keeps the freshness alive.

Music director Thaman has done full justice to the movie with his music. ‘Kaadhalithu Sodhappuvom’, ‘Love Love’ and the final songs are filmed in a happening way. The re-recording travels well with the script and adds good feel to the story, especially in the portions where emotional flow is on a high.

The movie can be declared as a perfect release for Valentine’s day weekend for age group between 18 to 40 and above as it holds portions showcasing the love story of a young couple and matured love of their parents as well.

Verdict : On the whole, ‘Kadhalil Sodhapuvadu Yeppadi’ is a 2 and a half hour lecture on how, to and what to do while in love, but interestingly the lecture is not boring.

Colourful and catchy tale
Life in the shores of Marina beach offers aplenty. It speaks about the culture of Chennai. The travails of innocent children work in the shores and various faces that we see daily on the shores are dealt in detail by Pandiraj. Pandiraj had proved his mettle in handling serious issues with a feel-good script and the likes of Pasanga and Vamsam are pointer to it.
In Marina, with a bunch of children, he has given what could be termed as Slumdog Millionaire of Tamil cinema. Pakoda Pandian plays the lead role, while the likes of Siva Karthikeya, Oviya, Jayaprakash and the rest play around him.
Story

Ambikarathy (Pakoda Pandian) comes to Chennai and Marina beach beckons him. An orphan, he resolves to work in the shores and starts selling sundal. His circle expands. After enmity, he wins the hearts of children working in the beach. They live life their own way.
An old man (Sundararajan) and postman (Jithan Mohan) turn friends for
these children. Also parallely a love story between Senthilnathan
(Sivakarthikeyan) and Sopana Sundari (Oviya) is narrated. The beach provides the common link between the two stories.
Their romance reflects the one we see in daily life these days.
There are twists and turns. But the movie harps on a strong message that the child labourers should be given a formal education for a better tomorrow.

It is young Pandian's show all the way. He is right there giving his best. A bunch of young children give life to their roles. Siva Karthikeyan's witty humour and one-liners wins our heart. Oviya has very little to do on screen. Watch out for Thatha Sundarrajan and Jithan Mohan who walks away with applause. A cameo by Jayaprakash is worth a mention.
Debutant cinematographer Vijay and music composer Girish does give their best. They are like flesh and blood to the story.

It is a tight walk for Pandiraj. he has achieved his best without falling into commercial cliches. Educating young children will usher a better tomorrow. It is what the movie conveys. Three cheers to Pandiraj for achieving it. Though a documentary feel could not be avoided, Marina is worth a watch.

Vaikunda ekatasi

Vaikunta Ekadashi or Mukkoti Ekadashi is the Krishna paksha Ekadashi that occurs during the Dhanurmasa period in the Hindu calendar (corresponding to late December - January in English calendar). Vaishnavism (Worship of Lord Vishnu) culture believes that ‘Vaikunta Dwaram’ or ‘the gate to Lord's Inner Sanctum’ is opened on this day. The Margashirsha shukla paksha ekadashi in lunar calendar is known as a 'Mokshada Ekadashi'. Special prayers, yagnas, discourses and speeches are arranged at Vishnu temples across the world on this auspicious day

According to Vishnu Purana, fasting on Vaikunta Ekadashi is equivalent to fasting on the remaining 23 Ekadashis of the (Hindu) year. However according to Vaishnava tradition fasting is mandatory on all Ekadashi of both Shukla paksha and Krishna paksha. Fasting on Ekadashi is considered holier than any other religious observation.

Lord opened the gate of Vaikuntam (his abode) for two demons in spite of they being against the Lord. They also asked for the boon that who ever listens to their story and see the image of Lord coming out of the door (called Dwar) called Vaikunth Dwar they reach Vaikunth as well! Temples all over the India makes a door kind of structure on this day for devotees to pass through that.

According to Padma Purana, the female energy of Lord Vishnu slayed demon Muran and protects `Devas'. This happened on the eleventh day of lunar month during the sun's journey in the Dhanur rasi. Impressed by the act, Lord Vishnu names her as `Ekadashi' and gives her the boon that those who worship `Ekadashi' on the day of her victory over Muran would reach `Vaikunth' (His abode).

Vaikunta Ekadasi is one the important and auspicious days to the Hindus. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It occurs in the Hindu calendar, in the month of Margashirsha (Between December and January). Also called the 'Mukkoti Ekadasi', when observed, it bestows liberation from the cycle of birth and death.

The significance of Vaikunta Ekadasi is mentioned in the 'Padma Purana'. As per the legend, the Devas unable to bear the tyranny of 'Muran', a demon, approached Lord Shiva, who directed them to Lord Vishnu. A battle ensued between Lord Vishnu and the demon and the Lord realised that a new weapon was needed to slay Muran.

In order to take rest and create a new weapon, the Lord retired to a cave called 'Himavati' in Badrikashrama. When Muran tried to slay the Lord, who was sleeping, the female energy that emerged from the Lord burnt him to ashes in one look.

Lord Vishnu who was pleased, named the female energy 'Ekadasi' and asked her to claim a boon. Ekadasi, instead beseeched the Lord that people who observed a fast on that day should be redeemed of their sins. The Lord thus declared that people who observed a fast on that day and worshiped Ekadasi, would attain Vaikunta. Thus came into being the first Ekadasi, which was a Dhanurmasa sukla paksha ekadasi.

Fasting

Vaikunta Ekadasi Fasting is an important aspect of those associated with it. People fast the whole day and keep vigil. Special prayers are offered to Lord Vishnu and devotees engage in Japa (Chanting of the Lord's name) and Dhyana (Meditation). On 'Dasami', the previous day of the observance, devotees who take up Vaikunta Ekadasi fasting are to take only lunch. On Ekadasi, the next day, they have to maintain a complete fast and engage in prayers and meditation of the Lord. They are strictly prohibited from taking rice. That night, people keep vigil the whole night and visit the temple of Lord Vishnu, mostly in the wee hours of the morning.

On this day, the Vaikunta Dwaram or the Swarga Vaasal, 'The Gates of Heaven' are believed to be kept open. The area encircling the sanctum is referred to Swarga Vaasal and devotees throng to gain entry into the temple, to seek the Lord.

The Vaikunta Ekadasi festival is an occasion when the Paramapada Vaasal is opened for devotees. It begins from suklapaksha Ekadasi and celebrated for 23 days wherein Namperumal listens to the vedas and Nammazhvar'sThiruvaimozhi as rendered by the Araiyars. The festival is divided into two parts, ten days before and after the ekadasi of the bright waxing period of the month, which is "Vaikunta Ekadasi".

The first period of ten days is called Thirumozhi Thirunal or "pagal patthu"and the second period of ten days is called "Thiruvaimozhi Thirunal" or "rapathu".

During the Vaikunta Ekadasi day and the subsequent nine days, Lord Namperumal enters the Thirumamani Mandapam[paramapadam]through this door known as paramapada Vasaal[sorga vasaal]. It is one of the most auspicious days in all the Vishnu Temples. The Vaikunta Dwaram or the Gate to the Heaven is opened on this day. In Srirangam, this is the passage leading to the Thirumamani Mandapam, a replica of Sri Vaikuntam, the permanent abode of Lord Maha Vishnu. Scores of devotees queue up to pass through the Gate of Vaikuntam in the temples in the belief that they would escape from the cycle of re-birth, if they step on the Paramapada Vasaal on the sacred day of Vaikunta Ekadasi. This helps us reach our ultimate destination, Vaikuntam, which is the place of no-return and thus the human soul is free from the ills of this world.

Tirumala Venkateswara Temple also has a similar concept. Thirumala has a special entrance called Vaikunta Dwaram that encircles the sanctum sanctorum. The dwaram (passage) is opened only on Vaikunta Ekadashi and it is believed that any person who passes through this `Vaikunta Dwaram' on this particular day attains salvation.The temple witnesses heavy inflow of pilgrims and dignitaries for Vaikunta Ekadashi.

Story

Anal Murugan (Vikram), a gym boy is a happy-go-lucky-youngster. He wants to make it big as baddie in cinema. He takes things in his own way and doesn't gets tie down by anything or anyone. He is both brainy and brawny. He shares an close rapport with with a old m,an (K Vihswanath). To see him smile in his old age is the mission of Anal Murugan. Measnwhile there is a romantic escapade between Anal Murugan and Pooja (Deeksha Seth).
One fine day, Murugan comes to know that land mafia had cheated the old man. Now he starts his mission. He zeroes in on Pradeep Rawat and his men. Now it is up tothe antics of Murugan in teaching the baddies a lesson.

Performance
It's Vikram's show all the way. The Vikram of Dhool is back. Amazing how the actor has strong screen presence and entertains you in every frame. He is right there at his best in wit and humour. Also when it comes to action, he is not far behind. It is a vintage Vikram for you. Deeksha Seeth oozes glamour and fits the ooph factor well. Well, Vishwanatha is a rock solid and gives right expressions. Three cheers to the scenes involving him and Vikram. Pradeep Rawath oozes venom in his eyes. He plays a typical villain in any commercial movie. Besides there is a huge star cast that includes Avinash, Thambi Ramiah, Mayilsamy besides Mithra Kurien sharing a major screen space.
The one song featuring Vikram, Reema Sen and Shriya is catchy and trendy.

Technicalities
Three cheers to cinematographer Madhi. He manages to capture a commercial film in different hue andvibrant colours. His lens oozes with energy. Kasi Viswanathan's cionematography is another highlight. The movie is crisp and razor sharp. Well, Yuvan Shankar Raja has come up with some average tunes. The different get-ups of Vikram sustains greater interest.

Analysis

Suissenthiran had proved in the past that he is a master in handling realistic themes. Now with Rajapattai, he has gone one step further and churned out a film that is racy and rivetting. WIth Vikram to his rescue, he has proved making commercial films too is his cup of tea. All said, the movie is ewngrossing and Adventerous..

Story:

A corrupt cop Osthi Velan (Simbu) a totally fearless but corrupt police officer with unorthodox working methods. But even the most fearless at times face a tough fight with their innermost demons. Osthi has had a bitter childhood. His father passed away when he was very young after which his mother (Revathy), married another person. Osthi has love & hate relationship with his half brother Balan (Jithan Ramesh). He decides to take control of his destiny and detaches himself from his stepfather and half brother.

One day Osthi fall in love with Neduvali (Richa Gangopadhyaya), daughter of a drunkard (VTV Ganesh). They get attracted to each other and love each other. There is an enemy to Osthi Velan in the form of Boxer Daniel (Sonu Sood). The rest of the story revolves around, how Osthi win over Daniel and get's Neduvali.

In a single word, Its Simbu's show. As a funny corrected cop he delivered energetic and entertaining performances. His fights and dances are highlights in the movie. However, one can’t compare Simbu’s performance with Salman Khan’s performance. STR has his own style of body language.

Sonu Sood does what he did in the original. He got good screen presence in the movie. Next to STR, Sonu Sood’s character is main and important character in the movie.

Richa Gangopadhyaya, who was supposed to make her debut in Kollywood with this movie has done good job. However, this is her second released movie, the first was Mayakkam Enna. As Neduvalli, who is in love with Osthi Velan, she is homely yet glamorous. Her expressions and emotions are apt and director extracts the best from Richa.

Jithan Ramesh acted as step-brother of Osthi. He has a done a meaty role which has good screen presence. He played a energetic role in which he loves Saranya Mohan and tries hard to marry her.

Santhanam acted as funny cap. He is at his best and scenes involving him and Simbu brings lot of laugh.

The other important cast VTV Ganesh, Thambi Ramiah, Nasser, and Revathy done their job well.

One of the highlight of the movie is item song, in which Bollywood sexy-siren Mallika Sherawat steals the show.

The story and taking of the movie is almost equal to original version, Dabangg. However, director Dharani managed to bring Tamil flavor to the movie with minor changes in characterizations and script.

Thaman's music and background score is excellent. The title song of the movie sung by Baba Sehgal is best in audio.

This is a full fledged commercial movie by Dharani with all the elements and flavors included. The dialogues and cinematography are good.

Story

Sasikumar have played a carefree youngster in the movie called Kumaran. Sasikumar ( Kumaran) his living a typical Chennai youngster’s life with all fun. Swathy has done the lead female role in the movie. Swathy has added a lot of essence to the movie she has played a happy bubbly girl called Bharathy. Bharathy meets Kumaran and seeing his good heart and behaviour she falls in love with him. Kumaran says no to her love and later he accepts her.

Allari Naresh plays a role called Nallavan who arrives to Chennai. He happends to be meet Kumaran and start telling him the serious issues happened. Then the story starts in a different way in the second half. Sasikumar’s flashback is shown and talks about the Sri Lankan issues. Samuthirakani’s style of screenplay it’s like a rollercoaster ride.

Sundar c Babu music director of Porali have done an extraordinary background music or ‘’Porali’’. Ladies vs Ricky Bahl is an upcoming Bollywood romantic comedy film directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. It will star Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma in lead roles and marks the debut of Priyanka Chopra's cousin, Parineeti Chopra.The pair will be seen together, once again, after their last hit together Band Baaja Baraat. The film is set to release on December 9, 2011. It is inspired by John Tucker Must Die.

The film started shooting early April with plans to be in theatres worldwide on 9 December 2011, the same weekend Anushka Sharma's films Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Band Baaja Baaraat released.

During the shoot of the scooter sequence, Ranveer burnt his foot when the scooter skid on some gravel and fell on him. A doctor was called on set immediately but Ranveer kept shooting and ensured that the schedule was not delayed.

During one of the shots on the jet ski, a big wave hit Ranveer and Anushka and flung them in different directions in the middle of the sea. Yet both of them braved 20-foot waves, despite the jet ski being capsized and gave the perfect shot.

Maneesh Sharma, the director of the film, decided to add boats against the beach in one of the shots to make it more interesting - this last minute addition made for a perfect shot and the boats became an integral part of a decisive scene in the movie that involves the entire cast.

While shooting in Lucknow, the entire Imambara area had to be cordoned off. Massive crowds appeared to watch Ranveer Singh shoot and kept calling him “Bitoo! Bitoo aa gayaa!” Rambo was a clear favorite and worked the crowd very well by obliging fans with waves, hugs and pictures! After pack up, the entire cast feasted at Lucknow’s famous "Tunda Kababi."

Anushka Sharma was a pro scooter rider (she has previously also driven a scooter with aplomb in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’) during an important scene, she drove with the DOP (who was holding an extremely heavy camera) sitting behind her. Her astute driving sense, allowed him to shoot a rear view mirror from the bike quickly and efficiently.

Dhanush plays Karthik (Dhanush), a freelance photographer who has greater passions, goals and ambitions in his life. For him, life is never easy. His greatest goal in life is to become a freelance photographer. He is helped in achieving his goal by his buddie Sundar (Sundar). WIth friends, Karthik has a gala time. At one situation, Karthik is introduced to Yamini (Richa), Sundar's girl friend. They are poles apart. Opposite sides and tastes never match. Karthik often ends up quarreling with her. Call it fate, it soon blossoms into love.What happens then in their lives is narrated in Selvah's style.

Karthik hangs out with his friends and is extremely close to Sundar (Sundar) who introduces his girlfriend Yamini (Richa) to the gang. Initially Karthik and Yamini can’t stand each other but there lies the twist, when opposites attract.

Call it a Dhanush - Selvah special. The younger brother deliver what his elder wants on screen without any hiccups. They both combine to give their best.
Dhanush's emotions are well-captured and Selvah has ensured that it is all real and authentic. Dhanush has not let down Selvah and emotes pucca. Especially towards the climax, Dhanush simply rocks. Richa is tailor-made for the role. She has a meaty role which she does well. Sundar too does Justice to his selection. All the rest have a part to play.

Selva tells a simple story and packages it beautifully with the correct mix of entertainment elements. A couple of scenes stand out like the hatred between the lead pair evaporating into a kiss on a rainy night in a bus stand. The scenes of the hero pleading with the master photographer to make him his assistant and the shot in the forest when Karthick gets the shot of the rare bird that he was chasing.

In the end, the film belongs to Dhanush. He delivers his best work till date, emerging as the emotional soul of this film with spectacular, yet restrained performance that he constructs with the help of a solid script. Be it the spirited teenager, the frustrated photographer, the guilty friend, an insecure, unpredictable, alcoholic husband and the mature man at the end. For Dhanush alone, this film deserves a watch.

Richa is impressive in her first film in Tamil. She is able to stand up to Dhanush in the difficult climax scenes of the film. The voice modulation of Deepa Venkat who has dubbed for her has given the character the extra edge. Famous still photographer Sundar has made his acting debut as hero’s best friend and is riveting. Ravi Prasad as the scheming ace photographer who boils with rage seeing younger competitors is convincing.

It is cinematographer Ramji and G V Prakash who join hands to weave a magic. Both does added strength to the script. Selvah's script takes twists and turns and ends up on a positive note with dialogues attracting applause.

Though shades of Kadhal Kondein can't be ruled out, Mayakkam Enna will have a mesmerising effect. welldone Selvah!.

Gautham Menon started working on Ek Deewana Tha, the Hindi remake of his superhit Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa which was also released in Telugu as "Ye Maaya Chesaave", in 2011, with Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson in the lead roles. Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, considered by many as path-breaking, gave an all-new image for the lead pair of Silambarasan and Trisha Krishnan. Though the Hindi remake initially had Trisha Krishnan reprising her role, the actress was unceremoniously dropped from the project after a photo shoot and replaced by Amy Jackson, who shot to fame with the Tamil film Madrasapattinam.

Gautham Menon was trying out a 'look shoot' at the same locations where he shot Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, including a popular seaside restaurant on ECR, Chennai. A source close to the director said, "This shoot was just to get the 'feel' of the film. The actual shoot will take place in Mumbai from next month." According to the sources, A. R. Rahman's original tunes will be retained for Ek Deewana Tha as well, while the film also features Gautham Menon's regular technical team, consisting of art director Rajeevan and editor Anthony Gonsalves.

Noted poet, story and screenplay specialist, Javed Akhtar recently was in Chennai, supervising the script and writing the lyrics for the film. A source close to the development said, "Javed saab and Gautham hit it off well. The lyricist's inputs will be taken into consideration as Gautham is particular that his film should not come across as a routine South Indian remake.

Amy Jackson, playing a Syrian Christian in the film, said that, "I'm very kicked about working with Gautham Menon. I've seen VTV at least 15 times. Ek Deewana Tha is a perfect launch pad for me in Bollywood. He is a perfectionist and I know he will shape my character according to the needs and tastes of the Bollywood audience. I've begun the first schedule of the film and I'm planning to hire a Hindi tutor to help me sail through it.

The shooting of the film was to start in late-2010 but Prateik Babbar was busy with the promotions of Dhobi Ghat.Finally, the shooting of the film commenced in April 2011, with the entire cast and crew of the film in Mumbai.The shooting of the film has been progressing in various localities in Mumbai and the Ek Deewana Tha team went down to Kerala and began the second schedule there in May 2011. Once the shooting of the film in Kerala was over, they went to Chennai in June 2011 to shoot few important scenes in Amethyst, Chennai, while, some of the songs are also scheduled to be shot in AVM Studios, Chennai.In July 2011, after the shooting of the film in Chennai was completed, the next schedule of the film was started at The Taj Mahal, Agra, while the shooting of the film was also held in Delhi.Finally, the cast and crew of the film will fly to the United States to shoot some important portions.

The soundtrack and film score for Ek Deewana Tha is composed by A. R. Rahman, retaining the same tunes from Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. As reported, the soundtrack album consists of eight songs, with additional two new tunes and lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar, collaborating with Gautham Menon for the first time. The soundtrack album is expected to release in 2012.

There were reports that Superstar Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan would come together for a public service advertisement to be made by Union Health Ministry to create awareness on child health in India. However, this has been denied by those at the top actor's office.

In a statement, Rajini's spokesperson Sudhakar said, "Rajinikanth has not signed any agreement related to the advertisement. And he has not given any commitment to anyone in this regard. Also, we can not confirm that he would act with Aamir Khan in that advertisement."

Last week, reports claimed that the ad film was part of the Health Ministry's special awareness advertisement campaign about the malnutrition of children in India.

"A recent study stated that the mortality rate among Indian children is high due to malnutrition, which is why the government decided to spread awareness on the subject through an ad campaign. Aamir Khan has also been roped in for the initiative, which will advocate the eradication of malnutrition," a source was quoted as saying.

It added: "Rajini doesn't endorse any product, but when he was told that it was an ad film for an awareness program, he readily agreed. Aamir too agreed instantly on learning that Rajini sir is also part of the campaign. The campaign will reach the audience in the form of television advertisements, newspaper ads and hoardings among other things."

Music composed by Anirudh, a newcomer, the song has lyrics by Dhanush himself. And, what's more? The National award winning actor has crooned it as well. "It is a song which is fit for a bathroom singer. Since I am one, I gave my voice to it," he says.

Gautham Menon met Jiiva to discuss a potential collaboration in May 2011 for his next venture after the Hindi remake of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa.^[4] Menon decided to use Jiiva in the Tamil version of a bilingual film he was set to make featuring Ram and Samantha, and Menon's "regular crew" of music composer A. R. Jiiva had to lose weight for the film and had to undertake diet regimens and work out sessions to get in shape for the character. Furthermore it was revealed that he would sport three different looks in the film as the film encompasses 15 years. Ravi Raghavendra and Anupama Kumar were added to the cast to play Jiiva's parents, while Santhanam was also chosen to play an important role in the film.
