Do you like to have fun?

Do you want a live concert of acoustic music in your living room?

BE A PART OF THE REMINGTON FAMILY TOUR 2009!

Who? Remington (Ross Mintzer and Mike Thurber) you and your friends!

What? An evening of fun and a private concert of original music and classic sing-alongs played acoustically (guitar and bass) in your very own living room! The format of the evening is entirely up to you. Our concert can be combined with a dinner party, cocktail hour, or be all by itself, whatever you want.

Why? As we approach the end of our studies at music school (Juilliard and the Manhattan School of Music), we are confronted with the question that all young people are eventually faced with: What do you want to try and do with all of the knowledge and experience you have accumulated thus far in life? As we all know, this is a difficult question in and of itself, but in these times of change and uncertainty, it is made especially difficult. As musicians and artists today, we are forced more than ever to truly ask ourselves, what is music and what relevance does it have in this society?

Well, to us, music is using sound to express, celebrate, and contemplate the rich, complex, and beautiful array of emotions that we all experience as people. With this in mind, we want to use our music to develop and/or strengthen a universal common-bond of love, empathy, and mutual understanding between us all.

Upon coming to these conclusions and accumulating a great deal of experience playing at clubs and concert halls across the country, we have decided that there is no better way to accomplish our goals at this point than to bring the music and good times DIRECTLY to the people that we love: you! But after all, music is a two way street. While we hope that our music brings you pleasure and comfort, we are anxious to meet and perform for you to hear all your thoughts and ideas. At the conclusion of the summer, we hope to have enriched our own understanding of what music means to people around the country of all ages and backgrounds. We look forward to reunions with old friends and the insight gained from new friends.

When/Where? We will be booking home concerts from mid May through mid August. If we can get there, we will come to WHEREVER you are. As of now, it looks like we will be on the west coast the end of May through the middle of June, and the Midwest the end of June and beginning of July; however, this is still fairly flexible. For those of you down South, we can fit you in on our way back from the West Coast in mid to late June, or we can head down in early August.

What do we want from you? THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THESE CONCERTS! All that we ask of you is to provide us with food and a place to sleep for the night. We will sell t-shirts and CD's at the concert (we have to make gas money some how!).

Details:

-Concert lengths range from 30 to 90 minutes depending on what will suite you best.

-This is not loud music. It is completely acoustic, not even microphones, so you don't need to worry about noise complaints from the neighbors.

-If you would like to hear some of our music to get an idea of what we sound like, check out myspace.com/remingtonmusic, or email us and we will send some to you. However, keep in mind that the recordings have more instrumentation and amplification than we will have. We have acoustic arrangements of the music for just the two of us to play, that give the songs a much more personal feel for a home environment.

Want to customize your concert?

-Do you have a specific song that is a favorite of yours? It can be by anybody, we will learn it prior to your party for $50 per song.

-Do you have a special occasion coming up? One very special part of being in the Remington Family is the opportunity to have a completely original composition written for you. Whether you want to surprise a loved one, or commemorate a special occasion, we will compose and perform your song live at your home concert. (includes a professional quality recording). $175 per song. If you are interested, we will call and interview you which will provide us with the personal details we need to create your song.

-Do you want your home concert to be recorded? We will record it for you and burn copies of it to CD immediately following the show. Hang on to the memory for years to come! $8 per CD.

Does all this sound good to you, or do you have any more questions? Greg Evans, Remington's drummer, has been accepted to Ithica University, NY for his graduate studies! Greg will be studying percussion while teaching some lessons and running one of the student big bands. We are very excited for Greg. Obviously this is going to be a wonderful thing for him; however, it will require him to move to upstate New York. As a result, Greg will no longer be playing with Remington.

Greg has been playing with us for the last three years. He has been with us since we started to call ourselves Remington. He is one of our closes friends and is a big part of some of our fondest memories. While we are certainly going to miss him, Ross and I have decided to carry on as a duo. Obviously, this has drastically changed our sound. When a personality as big and rich as Greg's leaves the music, things change. We are very excited about our new sound and we are excited for you to hear it as well.

We have recorded a new record, "Human Music". It is currently being mastered and will hopefully be released within the next few weeks. It features all new material with Ross and I playing percussion, bass, guitar, piano, saxophone, ukeleyle, and singing. We also have a string quartet featured on several of the tunes comprised of students from Michigan State University and Toledo, OH area professionals.

Stayed tuned for more updates and if you see Old Greg, give him some Bailey's from your shoe!

-Mike Thurber and Ross Mintzer = Remington
