Daughter’s most favorite..

Every time we went to mall, we never forget to drop by at Bookstore. My daughter always wants to go there and look for her most favorite magazine……Barbie Magazine.

Anyway, when I scanned it the first time I bought a copy, I found out that it offers a lot of activities for it has puzzle pages, exciting and something to dream on stories, enjoyable activities and dazzling posters thus, It has new and different adventures of Barbie which my daughter could join and have fun.

Now, it is also one of the very special way for my little girl to share the magic and excitement of Barbie dolls world aside from dressing it up (which I didn't experience and got no chance doing during my childhood hehe!!)

So whenever she ask me to buy a copy of the magazine, I no longer think twice and even told her to include other magazines or something of her interest such as the Disney princess.

Anyway, she could learn from it while having fun. And of course one of her favorite part of the magazine.... it has free stickers (yup..she's addicted to stickers lol!).

It is very interesting and good to note that the magazine could really help our little girls develop creativity and important play patterns, while delivering all the fun, glamour and style.

Aside from that, my daughter could even start practicing and be introduced into fashion world if she really wants to become a fashion designer someday.

To Be Wireless....

For now, I've got no problem with my internet connection since I started using Smart Broadband Canopy. Connection is very fast and I do super like it.

Though, since I am using a Laptop and it is still wired connected I could not use it to the place where I am most comfortable with, same with my mom, since she had her own netbook, instead of using it, she still needs to use my laptop in my room.

I am thinking now to buy a wireless router and Be Wireless.And weighing the pros and cons of wireless connection, some notes I was able to jot down through my research about wireless routers are the following.

A wireless router is a network device that enables you connect several computers to the Internet without using cables, rather by using wireless access points, or WLAN. Some of the reason we go wireless networking include freedom and affordability. But you need to keep other factors in mind.

Look out for notable brands like Cisco, Net Gear, Linksys and D-link. These are most popular brands built with rugged technologies.

Bandwidths and performance should be another factor to check for. A wireless standard defines the speed for interconnectivity or data transmission by a particular router. E.g. 802.11a, 802.11g, 802.11n etc

Advantages of Wireless Routers

a. Wireless routers are equipped with modem, network switch (a device that has multiple connection ports for connecting computers and other network devices), wireless access points.

b. Wireless Router can be connected to / from anywhere in your immediate environment or house. That means you can log on and surf the Internet from anywhere around your surrounding.

c. Some of the wireless routers are equipped with a built in firewall to ward of intruders. The configuration options of the firewall are an important consideration when buying a router. Virtually everyone buys and sell online oneway or the other, buying a wireless router with good firewall configuration options can be helpful for security and privacy.

d. The broadband router wireless VoIP technology is a technology that enables you to can connect to the Internet, using any ordinary phone device. You can then make calls to anybody in the world via your Internet connection. Wireless router provides strong encryption (WPA or AES) and features the filters MAC address and control over SSID authentication.

Disadvantages.

a. The wireless connection will be slightly slower than the wired connection. Simply put, wireless or WI-FI transmits through the air and can be blocked interfered with by other waves from the surrounding.

b. Security is one of the main concern when it comes to networking generally, wired network provides for more regid security to wireless. This means that all of your private data stored in your laptop or PDA could be exposed to anyone in the same vicinity. It's possible that an unscrupulous person could obtain passwords and important personal information easily from wireless networks if not properly configured.

c. There is over congestion of WI-FI, especially in the cities where you have a large population of stores and big organisations that transmits over the same channel, causing much interference.

I think the above notes are enough for me to consider and to decide whether to be wireless or not.

Aside from that, I already did another research how much it will cost me If I will decide to be wireless.

My New Bag

I received a new Couch Bag..yippeee!!!

Last week we received our Balikbayan Box from Hawaii (from Uncle Ben and Tita Margie)and a New Couch Bag is for me as a Post Birthday gift (June 2011) hehe!!My sister Ma Phi told me it is "Pang mayaman" (for rich) bag, now I know why? Take a look at the pictures and judge why my sister told that so.

I appreciates it much. I never thought receiving a new bag from them, for I am only expecting a second hand bag hehe..Well, anyway thanks much Uncle and Tita for the Gift. I Love Pearl not only because it is my birthstone but because it is really a gem for me. It adorns women of style and substance.

One thing more, I read that Pearls are for Passion. And of course it is the ultimate expression of Love

No to migraine or No to Chocolates!!!

No week in a month, no month in a year that my migraine forgets to visit me. She always have the time to be there, to ruin my day...haiizz

I wonder what really causes my migraine? Does it has something to do with my eight long hours work with my PC, or with my late night sleep, or my stressful activities in my Ph.D. class?

I am very much prone to migraine attacks, but what it really triggers is still a question to me until this very day? Why? thanks to my paps daily newspaper subscription.

I now found the answer why migraine really likes me much. It says in the article that it has something to do with the food I eat. Aside from late night sleep, and stressful activities, the food I eat also causes my migraine.

And here are some foods that can easily trigger migraine.(from People's Journal-Pinoy Lifestyle column)

1. Chocolate and coffee.Because of Tyramine ingredients, this can easily trigger severe headache. The percentage is higher in women because they are accustomed to eating chocolate (I am a certified chocolate lover huhuhu!!!) when stressed and during hormonal changes are both common headache triggers. And if you are a coffee lover, try to substitute your espresso and mocha with a decaffeinated one.

2. Cold drinks. Commonly referred as brain freeze, a big gulp or strong long sip of cold drink or ice cream can cause this and usually it will last for about five minutes. The pain occurs when cold foods or drinks touch nerves in your mouth, delivering sensory information from the mouth to the brain.

3. MSG. Although considered by some as a flavor enhancer, the feared MSG(monosodium glutamate) is commonly found on processed and junk foods.

Foods containing preservatives include pepperoni, bacon, sausage, ham, hot dogs, processed meats and deli-style meats.

Even red wine, beer, whisky and champagne can also cause headaches.

Other food that cause migraines are the following

-Crackers and snacks containing cheese

-Chicken Liver and other organs

-Dried fruits (dates, raisins, and figs)

-Soup made from bouillon or meat extracts (not homemade broth)

-Cultured dairy products, yogurt, buttermilk and sour cream

-Potato chips

-Pizza

-Artificial sweeteners

Oh, most(yes, I say most and not some ..hehe) of my favorite foods are on the list. So I am thinking now if I really want not to feel and not to have migraine anymore or I need to sacrifice my chocolates and pizza...( maybe I'll just eat once a month..hehe maybe)...It's really a choice to make..No to Migraine or No to chocolates (lol)

So now we had the list of what causes our migraines, you may want to list it down so you can avoid eating them next time...

Before...a Teacher...Now ...a Fashion Designer

We are a family of teachers, from our grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles. So, when my daughter first told me that she wants to be a teacher someday, I just smiled and say okay. I even supported her with her dreams that I even bought a mini blackboard, a chalk and eraser.

At night before going to sleep, she never forgets to play with her blackboard and acted as a teacher…

I even express amusement when her teacher in Advance Casa told me that after class she stays at their room and started playing with the chalk and some teaching stuff, that she even laughs because she could see the way she teach her students on the actions of my daughter..

Yes, those are the days when my daughter dreams to be a teacher someday, but nothing is enduring on earth, even dreams…

Now, my daughter wants to become a fashion designer someday…whoooaaa, what a big shift. Though, as mother, the only..and the best thing that I could do is to support whatever our child wants to be. Thus, I even started adding to my wish book some fashion designer stuff for children. I even asked her to talk to my co-teacher who also dreams to become a fashion designer someday, and even show some of her sketches and designs.

I know that as time flies, my daughter’s dreams will also changes. Though whatever happens, I’ll never stop supporting her... I will always be here to help and guide her to pursue her dreams...

For almost a month of not having a net connection really affected much my blogging activities for I wasn't able to blog about how we celebrate Holiday Season, from preparation up to celebration. Though I'm thinking now if I could have a post blog about it(haiizzz like I'm having a dilemma). Another is, I wasn't able to greet everyone "Happy Holidays".

Oh well anyway, it's Chinese New Year, and I am starting this New year by having a new net subscription from Smart - Unlimited Home Broadband. And for it's first day, I am giving it a rate of 9 out of 10 (lol). Connection is very fast compared to my previous DSL subscription.

Helping Sendong Victims

I only heard last week that typhoon Sendong will fall within the Philippine area and became thankful that it will not affect the Luzon Region. Though I haven't realized that it will cause a shocking damage at Mindanao Region and some part of Visayas Region.

Just seen the news on TV Patrol and feel very sorry when I've learned that Sendong killed almost 600 lives in Cagayan De Oro and Iligan City and still have a hundreds missing. And many of them lost their living, homes and possessions.

I am thinking now how could I help the victims of Typhoon Sendong, and feel lucky when I open my yahoo account and received a mail from Paula(www.mommydiary.net of BC Blogger..

I want MAC

I have been wanting to own a laptop or a net book (I have HP laptop before, but because I am a very generous sister, I gave it to my sister...with my eyes closed..hehe) for it has been a month now that I keep on borrowing my Mom's netbook and it's kinda "nakakahiya na" (lol).

And I've been thinking and been asking my friend..google about new or "in" netbook or laptop, and doing comparisons with the features, design and of course prices. And It is Mac that I've been wanting. So,I did make some research about the new Apple MacBook Pro

Off to Batac

I will be attending a short training course about Management and Information Technology at Mariano Marcos Memorial University at Batac, Iloco Norte on November 28 to December 2, 2011. Yes it is a one-week training.

I am excited about this,although I'm somewhat edgy (lol!). Why? Well. to tell you honestly I don't travel all by myself (huhuhu) I seldom go to places all alone. But now, whooaa, I'll be going to Batac on my own, and Batac is at Ilocos Norte. One more thing, I haven't been there. I haven't been to Ilocos Norte. Yes, I've already been to far places (far from Pangasinan hehe) like Banaue, Abra but I did not go there without tagging someone else. I travel with a friend, a buddy, a bf perhaps but now haaiizz ...(as if I'm having a dilemma right now hahaha!!)

Anyway, I did a research on the transportation, hotels and accommodation and most especially beautiful spots /tourist attraction that I could see not only at Batac but the whole Ilocos Norte..(excited!!!!...wink)

Place I got are: Marcos Museleum ( I could have a better chance seeing the glass casket of the late Sir Ferdinand Marcos, there is also the Malacanang of the North (which is far better?), the Paoay Church (whooa, the oldest church at the North ...might be able to see how it is being structured), the Fort Ilocandia, Laoag City, the Lighthouse at Burgos, Ilocos Norte, the Windmill at Bangui, and of course the Psgudpud White Beach.

Haaaiizzz, could no longer wait to get there but still edgy but feels much excited...my motivation????..the beautiful scenery I could see...

Finding and Keeping a Lifetime Partner

Holiday Season is also a Love Season. Most People set this season for a very important event of their lives, thus they make it a point that this season will also be the most memorable for two couples who are much in love with each other, they do set this time to get married when they finally say they already found their love of a lifetime and wanted to keep them starting this period.

But do we really believe that as long as we love our partner, there could no other reason why not get married?

How sure are we that if both had agreed that if they got a great meal together, or had a great time doing an indoor fun, should always deserves a happy ending?

Oh well, I am not in the position of putting a note about married life but I just feel I wanted to share something when I read Dr. M. Marshall Woodard III article from my email account sent by a friend.

The article says….

When it comes to making the decision about choosing a life partner, no one wants to make a mistake. Yet, with a divorce rate of close to 50%, it appears that many are making serious mistakes in their approach to finding Mr./Miss. Right!

If you ask most couples who are engaged why they're getting married, they'll say: "We're in love"; I believe this is the #1 mistake people make when they date. Choosing a life partner should never be based on love.

Though this may sound "not politically correct",there' s a profound truth here. Love is not the basis for getting married. Rather, love is the result of a good marriage. When the other ingredients are right, then the love will come.

Let me say it again:

"You can't build a lifetime relationship on love alone"; You need a lot more!!!

Here are five questions you must ask yourself if you're serious about finding and keeping a life partner.

QUESTION ..1: Do we share a common life purpose?

Why is this so important? Let me put it this way: If you're married for 20 or 30 years, that's a long time to live with someone. What do you plan to do with each other all that time?

Travel, eat, and jog together? You need to share something deeper and more meaningful. You need a common life purpose.

Two things can happen in a marriage: (1) You can grow together, or (2) you can grow apart. 50% of the people out there are growing apart. To make a marriage work, you need to know what you want out of life! Bottom line; and marry someone who wants the same thing.

QUESTION 2: Do I feel safe expressing my feelings and thoughts with this person?

This question goes to the core of the quality of your relationship. Feeling safe means you can communicate openly with this person. The basis of having good communication is trust - i.e. trust that I won't get "punished" ; or hurt for expressing my honest thoughts and feelings. A colleague of mine defines an abusive person as someone with whom you feel afraid to express your thoughts and feelings. Be honest with yourself on this one. Make sure you feel emotionally safe with the person you plan to marry.

QUESTION 3: Is he/she a mensch? A mensch is someone who is a refined and sensitive person. How can you test?

Here are some suggestions. Do they work on personal growth on a regular basis? Are they serious about improving themselves? A teacher of mine defines a good person as "someone who is always striving to be good and do the right ";.So ask about your Significant other What do they do with their time? Is this person materialistic?

Usually a materialistic person is not someone whose top priority is character refinement.

There are essentially two types of people in the world: (1) People who are dedicated to personal growth and (2) people who are dedicated to seeking comfort. Someone whose goal in life is to be comfortable will put personal comfort ahead of doing the right thing. You need to know that before walking down the aisle.

QUESTION 4: How does he/she treat other people?

The one most important thing that makes any relationship work is the ability to give. By giving, we mean the ability to give another person pleasure. Ask: Is this someone who enjoys giving pleasure to others or are they wrapped up in themselves and self-absorbed? To measure this, think about the following:

How do they treat people whom they do not have to be nice to, such as waiters, bus boys, taxi drivers, etc. .

How do they treat their parents and siblings? Do they have gratitude and appreciation?

If they don't have gratitude for the people who have given them everything; Can you do nearly as much for them? You can be sure that someone who treats others poorly, will eventually treat you poorly as well.

QUESTION 5: Is there anything I'm hoping to change about this person after we're married?

Too many people make the mistake of marrying someone with the intention of trying to "improve"; them after they're married. As a colleague of mine puts it: "You can probably expect someone to change after marriage for the worse" If you cannot fully accept this person the way they are now, then you are not ready to marry them.

In conclusion, dating doesn't have to be difficult and treacherous. The key is to try leading a little more with your head and less with your heart. It pays to be as objective as possible when you are dating; to be sure to ask questions that will help you get to the key issues. Falling in love is a great feeling, but when you wake up with a ring on your finger, you don't want to find yourself in trouble because you didn't do your homework. Another perspective. ...

There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a distance.... It's amazing what you can accomplish when you let go of or at least minimize your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not-going anywhere relationships.

Observe the relationships around you. Pay attention... .Which ones lift and which ones lean? Which ones encourage and which ones discourage? Which ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are going downhill? When you leave certain people do you feel better or feel worse? Which ones always have drama or don't really understand, know, or appreciate you?

The more you seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you...the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the front row and who should be moved to the balcony of your life. An African proverb states, "Before you get married, keep both eyes open, and after you marry, close one eye";

Before you get involved and make a commitment to someone, don't let lust, pity, desperation, immaturity, ignorance, pressure from others or a low self- esteem make you blind to warning signs. Keep your eyes open, and don't fool yourself that you can change someone or that what you see as faults aren't really that important. Do you bring out the best in each other? Do you compliment and compromise with each other, or do you compete, compare and control? What do you bring to the relationship? Do you bring past relationships, past hurt, past mistrust, past pain?

You can't take someone to the altar to alter them. You can't make someone love you or make someone stay. If you develop self-esteem, spiritual discernment, and "a life"; you won't find yourself making someone else responsible for your happiness or responsible for your pain. Things that make life easier ....... or not

I'm doin' a science research for my mom, and while doin' I've found something from my yahoo account which had been sent to me by a friend five years back.

This are some inventions that could make our life easier or maybe not..

Here is the list...(I put a little comments every after the pix)

1. CUP & COOKIES

Smart cup in which you can put 2-3 of your favourite cookies. You don't need extra plates. It's made for right handed and left handed.

I think I should have it at office and should always be on my table, imagine I could have my cookies on my cup of my coffee..nice!!!!

2.BANANA GUARD - Protect Your Banana!

My buddy always ask me what will I do with so many bags.(Anyway, I seldom buy bags, most bags in my closets are presents from my uncle and aunts) Well, I just love bags and still dreaming to have more of it.

New Hair Style

The last time I had my hair cut , which was really short was after I gave birth...and that was seven years ago…lol… And when my hair grows long I never tried to cut it short again. But for the past few days, I planned a hair rebond soon. Or to have my hair cut short again.

Being a working mom requires much time for everything, for all kinds of stuff from house to work and from work to house, and since second semester is about to start again, I will not only be a busy working mom but also a busy working student mom…haaayyyss…and this “busy me” makes me having no more time to blow dry my hair before leaving the house. So even if my hair is wet, I had no choice but to tie it up. And sometimes, I could no longer comb it (huhu) I even get irritated because it's like I have bad hair days all the time. (and had always a “mahangin ba sa labas” mode).

Anyway, I am mulling over to a three solutions , to have a hair rebond, sport a short hair, or try a curly hair.

For short hair, I am considering Katie Holmes hairstyle

For curly hair, well I have choices here:

I still have a hard time deciding now. Haiizz…. Hope soon I could have a better choice !!!

High School Memory Lane

My high school year was fun, indeed……. Hmmm, maybe some find it not enjoyable at all but I believe, it is worth remembering…why? I believe most of my best years fall during my high school life. Well, I was a good student then (hehe… an honor student). And I think I did well in both academics and extra curricular activities….lol ! It was during my high school when I had my first school paper article, had my first gold medal, and my first graduation speech and of course my first honor (wink)

I remember being a mayor in the class during our fourth year and had given a task….that is to make and have a Christmas tree and our adviser want to have it when he arrives…hehe (our adviser was out for a week and before he left, he scolded the whole class). Of course we surprised him and we were able to make a very nice Christmas tree (even got first price…hehe)

I also held various positions in several school organizations and I also joined journalism and was sent to represent our school in district and regional competitions. I also joined quiz bee (Science, Math, etc.). I was always out of school (not that I cut classes of course) then because there were too many activities I attended. There was the district conference, regional conference, Leadership trainings…..

But, I also do believe that high school is not much pleasurable if it's just about purely academics and the so called extra curricular activities. It was really cool because there were the crushes, the gimiks, fellowship day, Christmas day celebration, foundation day, sports activities, and of course the gossips hehe (which we usually done at the famous “SM- or the Silong ng Mangga” --).

And as far as I remember, It was on my high school days when I had my first crush, my first love letter, my first boyfriend, my first date, my first sleepover, my first dance (“the president and the first lady as such”….lol), my first duet, and my first kiss as well …lol..How could I ever forget, the fashion statement that our teachers wanted us to have...and surprise to the style we've got....And oohh, It was also when I had my first aggravation, my first resentment, my first big fight hahaha (how could I forget!!!)

I believe I never had a dull moment during my high school. I had great friends (and ….are still my friends this time) then, and had our great memories to share.

Though most of my HS classmates now are abroad and some are at nearby towns, and everyone are on their busy days mode, still, thanks to FB, exchanging notes and going down the memory lane are still easy for us…

And we're having a blast remembering everything what had we got during our high school days…... Well, Precious memories indeed!!!

"Dora the Explorer"

We are not "Dora the Explorer" , but we did explore San Quintin, from the farthest Barangay to the nearest....

Last Sunday seems to be the longest day that I ever had. It seems to be the hottest day that took in. It seems to be the most tiring day that I experienced.

AS agreed, we explore San Quintin, not as a tourist but as a person with much conviction that the reunion of Batch 96 will not only a dream but will surely come into reality.

It is not an easy task though we are not complaining. No one dictates us, no one ordered us (with Randy, Charo and Ching) but we did it with only one goal, that is to SHARE (SHARE on its deepest meaning……)

It doesn’t matter if we are like wearing something that makes us feel that we are living on the edge. It doesn't matter if we got a very long walk in the middle of a field with a super sunny day, what matters is we had FUN!!!

Anyway, even we are not "Dora the Explorer", we were able to explore not only SQNHS batch ’96 but San Quintin as it is!!!!...
