Consumed by betrayal and jealousy, a wealthy Manhattan doctor becomes entangled in a a ritualistic sexual underworld when his wife admits to having lascivious sexual fantasies about another man.

There are basically two types of performances in Kubrick's films. On the one hand, you have the explosively manic, wonderfully hyper-real performances of Peter Sellers in Dr. Strangelove, Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange, and Jack Nicholson in The Shining. But at the other end of the spectrum are actors as ciphers whose emotions remain somewhat inscrutable. Cruise falls into this category by default, and is the one we're meant to follow throughout Eyes Wide Shut. The situations Cruise finds himself in say more about the character than he does as an actor. But it works because this superstar is playing a buffoon mystified by women and sex. It's appropriate when, during a climactic scene where Bill has to face the consequences of his actions, one of his friends (Sydney Pollack) tells him, "You're in way over your head."

If the film seems to be a morality play drifting along with the erratic rhythms of a dream, then it begs the question of what is the moral, and how much we're meant to relate to these nervous cosmopolitans. We might not be able to plug into these lives of posh apartments and lascivious fantasies without that dreamlike element, which is all courtesy of Kubrick. He dissolves between scenes, liberally zooms into revealing close-ups on faces, and frequently incorporates an intense piano keyboard to obsessively hit the same pattern of notes—all elements that keep Eyes Wide Shut from feeling like we are just spectators observing the behavior of the spoiled and rich as we would zoo animals. We remain mystified, and perhaps that distance also enables us to laugh at Bill and Alice's love-struck, paranoid foibles. The final scene between Bill and Alice, during their holiday shopping, has the various noises of the store gradually recede so all we're left with are the voices of the husband and wife, almost like ghosts. When he proclaims they will love each other forever, she remains ambivalent. And though Kubrick remains caustic about the nature of the human heart and the way romantic partners lie to one another in order to survive, he still has Alice state that ultimately, if they survive these adventures, they should be grateful. Like Eyes Wide Shut, it's a response that's beautiful, strange, and perhaps even willfully artificial.

Stanley Kubrick's daring last film is many things. It is a compelling psychosexual journey. A haunting dreamscape. A riveting tale of suspense. A major milestone in the careers of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. And a worthy final chapter to a great director's career. Graceful tracking shots, controlled pacing, rich colors, startling images: bravura traits that make Kubrick a filmmaker for the ages are here to keep everyone's eyes wide open.

Terminator Salvation is a 2009 American science fiction film, the fourth installment in the Terminator series, directed by McG, and starring Christian Bale as future Resistance leader John Connor and Sam Worthington as cyborg Marcus Wright

The film also introduces a young Kyle Reese from the original 1984 film, played by Anton Yelchin, as well as depicting the origin of the T-800 Model 101 Terminator. Terminator Salvation, set in 2018, focuses on the war between humanity and Skynet - a departure from the previous installments, which were set on the present day and featured time travel.

After a troubled pre-production, with The Halcyon Company acquiring the rights for the franchise from Andrew G. Vajna and Mario Kassar and several writers working on the screenplay, filming began in May 2008 in New Mexico and ran for 77 days. The film is currently the most expensive independent production in history.[2] Terminator Salvation was released on May 21, 2009 in the United States and Canada, followed by early June releases in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. The film was met with mostly negative critical reviews and failed to meet initial financial expectations, grossing just under $43 million in its opening weekend in comparison to its $200 million budget. Its final worldwide gross is $371 million.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is an American science fiction action film released on June 19, 2009 in the United Kingdom and June 24, 2009 in North America, and will release on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 20, 2009.[

It is the sequel to 2007's Transformers and the second film in the live action Transformers series. Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg return respectively as director and executive producer, while Shia LaBeouf reprises the role of Sam Witwicky, the human caught in the war between Autobots and Decepticons. The film introduces many more robots and the scope has been expanded to numerous countries, most notably France, Jordan and Egypt. The plot revolves around Sam, who has been having visions of Cybertronian symbols, getting hunted by the evil Decepticons under the orders of their long-trapped leader, The Fallen. The Fallen seeks to get revenge on Earth by finding and activating a machine that would provide the Decepticons with an energon source, destroying all life on the planet in the process.

With deadlines jeopardized by possible strikes by the Directors Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild, Bay managed to finish the production on time with the help of previsualization and a scriptment by his writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and series newcomer Ehren Kruger. Shooting took place from May to November 2008.

Despite being panned by movie critics, Revenge of the Fallen achieved the highest Wednesday opening gross in history, bringing in $62 million in North America and close to $100 million worldwide; this is also the second-highest opening day gross of all time, behind only The Dark Knight's $67.8 million. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is currently the third highest-grossing film of 2009 worldwide, behind Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, and the highest-grossing film of 2009 in the United States. In less than a month, the film surpassed the all-time earnings of its predecessor. Merchindise-wise, it is the best-selling film of 2009.

Adoration is a 2009 Canadian drama film directed by Atom Egoyan and starring Rachel Blanchard, Scott Speedman and Devon Bostick. Adoration is about a young man obsessed with the idea that he is the spawn of two historical figures. It is Egoyan's first feature film since Where The Truth Lies. The film was first shown in May 2008 at the Cannes Film Festival. Adoration won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury and was nominated for the Palme d'Or. The film will have its U.S. premiere in April 2009 at the San Francisco International Film Festival and will go into U.S. release on May 8, 2009.

Synopsis: French high school teacher Sabine gives her class a translation exercise based on a real news story about a terrorist who plants a bomb in the airline luggage of his pregnant girlfriend, which would have killed her, her unborn child, and many others, but was discovered in time. In the course of translating, Simon, who lives with his uncle Tom, imagines that the news item is his own family's story, where his Palestinian father Sami was the terrorist, the woman was his mother Rachel, an accomplished violinist, and he was her unborn child. Years ago, Sami crashed the family car, killing both himself and Rachel, making Simon an orphan. Influenced by his racist grandfather (we see Simon filming him with his mobile phone when he talks to him), Simon has always feared that the crash was not an accident but intentional. Simon reads his version to the class. Sabine asks him to develop the story as a drama exercise, and for dramatic effect pretend that it really happened. So he does, and discussions evolve on the Internet about the story. Sabine is fired for making Simon lie.
Tom, who is a tow truck driver, tows Sabine's car away. Sabine follows him in a taxi, and by mobile phone offers him a meal in a restaurant. Later she reveals to him that she had been married to Sami for 5 years, until Sami met Rachel.

Copley plays the role of Wikus van de Merwe, a bureaucrat assigned to relocate a race of extraterrestrial creatures, derogatorily referred to as "prawns", from a refugee camp in Johannesburg to a new one outside the city.

Synopsis: In 1990, a massive star ship bearing a bedraggled alien population, nicknamed "The Prawns," appeared over Johannesburg, South Africa. Twenty years later, the initial welcome by the human population has faded. The refugee camp where the aliens were located has deteriorated into a militarized ghetto called District 9, where they are confined and exploited in squalor. In 2010, the munitions corporation, Multi-National United, is contracted to forcibly evict the population with operative Wikus van der Merwe in charge. In this operation, Wikus is exposed to a strange alien chemical and must rely on the help of his only two new 'Prawn' friends.

The story, adapted from Alive in Joburg, a 2005 short film directed by Blomkamp and produced by Copley, deals with the issues of xenophobia and social segregation. The title and premise of District 9 were inspired by historical events that took place in South Africa during the apartheid in a residential area of Cape Town named District Six. The film was produced for $30 million and shot on location in Chiawelo, Soweto, presenting fictional interviews, news footage, and video from surveillance cameras in a part mock documentary style. A viral marketing campaign began in 2008 at the San Diego Comic-Con, and the theatrical trailer appeared in July 2009. Released on August 14, 2009 in North America by TriStar Pictures, the film received positive reviews and earned $37 million on its opening weekend.
