What a special Christmas blessing this family received today...the birth of their first son, Baby Sam. Emily had a fairly quick labor and Baby Sam was born at 3:01pm weighing 7lbs. 7oz. and measuring 20in. long. It was such a joy to be there to document this special day for them and I was honored to witness Sam's entrance into the world!

It was a long night of anticipation for these two so they were exhausted already:

I followed Baby Sam to the nursery and let his new Dad take over the documenting at that point since I couldn't go in with him (isn't there a way to change that rule? ;-))

...this is such an accurate depiction of our family! At the dinner table...Ella still in her pjs (from the night before...gasp!) with her half eaten dinner plate, Anna expressing her annoyance at not getting my individual attention with carrots all over her face, Keith in the middle trying to pacify Anna, and me photographing it all. Now these are the moments I want to remember. :-)

Wow...I can't believe it has been 1/2 of a year since Anna's birth. She has grown and changed so much! I figured I better go ahead and post her pic and write down some facts before I forget them!

Anna's 6th Month:
- Started sitting well unassisted
- Started eating solid foods - bananas seem to be a fave, but she really likes everything
- Slept GREAT - 12 hours at night...2 three hour naps a day
- Likes to sleep with her blankie...rolls on her side and rubs it against her face
- Loves to play with toys and sit on the floor and watch Ella dance around her
- Loves to look at your face and explore it when her hands
- Laughs out loud when you tickle under her chin or jiggle her belly
- Wears size 2 diapers and 6 month clothes
- Is a drool machine (as seen in the 6 month picture). No teeth yet, but they must be coming soon!

Anna is still just teeny tiny. We're going to the doctor tomorrow for her 6 month check-up so we'll see what he says about that. She's eating really well, especially the solids, so I don't see how she could possibly not be gaining weight. We'll see!

Gosh, we have so much to be thankful for this year! God has blessed us so richly. :-) I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

This is the 2nd year my parents have opened their home to Officer Trainees on Thanksgiving...we enjoyed Chris and Joel so much this year!

Anna had cereal for the first time the other night...she wasn't quite too sure what to think about it. I should think that once we get into a little bit more tasty foods, she'll enjoy it more...

Ella's been spending a lot of time doing this lately, but it really seems to be helping!

It's been kind of crazy around our house lately...I've been up to my eyeballs in sessions and proofing and Keith has been just as busy with work at Frazer. So, not too much time for personal photo taking. I did however snap this cutie of the girls the other day.

We spent two hours at the doctors office this morning because Ella has a constant re-occurring cough. We also went because Anna-Bear only weighs 13lbs. 12oz. at almost 6 months which was a concern to me (to compare, Ella was 15lbs. 15oz.). Result of the doctor's visit - Ella has asthma and is now going to be doing breathing treatments and inhalers on a daily basis. Hopefully this will cure that cough and get her back to normal. All the tests they did on Anna were perfect, so it appears she is just a tiny little girl. She's meeting all of her milestones on time or a little bit early, so nothing to worry about there. We did leave with some acid reflux medicine to test out and see if that helps anything. So, anyways, hopefully we're going to back to normal soon! A couple more weeks of busy holiday season for me and then I should be back to posting more family pictures. :-)

Anna is just about sitting! I took these the other day and she was just doing a good job of "tripoding" but in the past two days or so she's really gotten better with her balance. I'm happy for her...I'm sure it gets old just laying on your back or belly all the time!

I've made a goal for myself to actually have prints made of my photos and to display them all over my home. It's ridiculous how few photographs I have on my walls and how many I have on my hard drive that I absolutely love. So, I'm going to start at one end of my house and work my way through. First up...the laundry room. I love the look of unframed prints, leaning against the wall. I had this image of Anna put on a standout mount to make it a little more substantial. Love it! Probably need to update my shelf now considering it looks slightly (ok, a lot) outdated. ;-)

Ella is so particular with her toys...she likes to have them just right. She gets that honest from both me and Keith!

Since the leaves are falling off the trees in our front yard, some light is finally coming into Anna's nursery. Love it!

No, unfortunately time has not stopped around here. Anna did turn 5 months I just forgot to blog her new monthly picture. :-) She has had an extremely busy month! She started rolling over both ways, grabbing and playing with toys, grabbing her feet and putting them in her mouth, and just generally being cute! She loves her exersaucer and jumperoo and she enjoys time in her bumbo too. Not too big of a fan of the swing or bouncey seat anymore but does occasionally take a snooze in the swing if she doesn't need a good long nap in her crib. Anna sleeps about 12 hours at night occasionally waking for her paci. She's a sweet little girl, but boy does she have a temper and if she's mad about something she will let you know! I wonder where she gets that from?? ahem, Keith! ;-) She's still a breastfed baby and we're looking forward to starting solids at the end of this month. She's just a little thing, I think in the 10-25th percentile and is wearing size 2 diapers and 3-6m clothes. She is such a joy and we are just so in love with her!

My dear friend and Ella's godmother Kelli came into town on Friday for a quick weekend visit...my goodness we had a great time! Ella enjoyed her time with her so much and was oh so sad when we had to leave her at the airport. Kelli - thank you so much for coming! Can't wait to see you again soon! :-)

Kelli is one of the sweetest girls I know and is so beautiful too!

Saturday night we got the kids all dressed up and headed to Frazer's Fall Festival which was great this year! My mom and dad had a big hand in getting it all organized and set up so thank you mom and dad!

Playing some games...

A little later we headed into Wesley Hall for a puppet show. To say Ella loved it would be a HUGE understatement. She stood up in her chair and sang every single word and did all the hand motions to all the songs they sang. It was precious! The lighting was horrible for this picture, but I just couldn't pass up this sweet moment of Ella standing in her chair singing doing hand motions.

Trunk-or-Treat

We headed out to Slapout on Wednesday for a Trunk or Treat with Keith's mom and dad. Ella was so very excited to put on her "Shepard Princess" costume (as she called it) and get some candy. They had all kinds of games and a hayride...we had a great time!

Whoever created toddler game apps for the iphone is a genius! It's provided Ella with hours of entertainment and she is learning so much!

My children are officially ragamuffins...proven by Ella's crazy hair, Anna's missing sock, and Anna's drool covered outfit...

Love this image of my girls...love the bond they already have...

This is a statuette of Ella in a princess dress...Lori told me about these and I ordered one for Ella's room. They are so stinkin' cute! Like a little paper doll!

We took a trip to Virginia when Ella was 5 months old and didn't bring an exersaucer or anything so we bought the cheapest walker that Walmart had...both of the girls have loved it!

We don't get much fall color down here in Alabama, but I am loving the fake fall flowers on my front door this season :-)

I love to do all the fun Holiday traditions like egg dying, pumpkin carving, etc. So this year Ella got to participate a little bit in the pumpkin carving. We chose to carve a bat...it turned out to be pretty cool!

Ella is loving her Halloween candy - lollipops especially...oh and isn't the leftover dinner on her face nice? ;-)

The Pumpkin Patch 2009

My gosh, we had so much fun at the pumpkin patch with the Johnson family this year. Last year when we went, Anna and Anderson were still in our bellies...things sure change in a year! It was fur-reezing cold the morning that we went, but it certainly didn't bother the kids any. They had a blast! I'm posting some of my favorite pics below and then if you still want to see some more images, check out the slideshow at the bottom of the post (probably just for relatives...LOTS of pictures).
