Moka Pot - Brewing Test

Akhirnya setelah beberapa kali percobaan,
bisa juga ngerasain espresso dari hasil brewing dengan menggunakan Moka Pot.

Ternyata Moka Pot yang gue beli,
yang ukuran 6 pot,
terlalu kecil untuk diletakkan di tas penyangga panci/wajan di kompor gas rumah gue.
Lebih kurang kayak gini de...

keliatan nggak, kalo moka pot-nya gue letakin langsung di gas burner-nya?
btw yeps, ini kompor gas yang ada di rumah gue,
yang sehari-hari dipake ama bini gue buat masak makanan yang enak dan oleh gue mostly buat masak mie instan:P

Anyway,
setelah beberapa lama nunggu, akhirnya espresso-nya bisa "muncrat" juga:D
Setelah beberapa eksperimen, gue bisa simpulkan, kalo better pake air panas...
Biar lebih cepat jadi dan rasanya juga lebih nendang kalo pake air panas, ketimbang pake air suhu kamar atau air dingin.
btw gue pakenya air panas dari dispenser Aqua, jadi nggak repot ngerebus dulu...
Hati-hati ya, kalau pake air panas, mending handle moka pot-nya pake kain yang agak tebal, apalagi kalau Moka Pot-nya yang kayak gue punya, langsung panas soalnya...

Nah, yang pengen tahu Espresso-nya keluar dari mana, liat gambar di bawah ya, biar nggak penasaran lagi:P

Another tips,
pakai bubuk kopi yang gilingannya nggak terlalu halus...
Waktu gue pake bubuk kopi yang halus,
hasilnya malah kurang bagus...
Eksperimen aja,
bagus lagi kalo bisa giling sendiri biji kopinya, jadi bisa eksperimen dengan lebih enak:P

Trus kopinya nggak usah terlalu dipadetin,
tekanan air panas+uap udah cukup kok,
kalo terlalu dipadetin takutnya air panasnya nggak bisa nembus bubuk kopinya

Ni gambar setelah proses bikin Espresso-nya, keliatan banget kan, bubuk kopinya keteken dengan keras...

surprisingly, bubuk kopinya ngebentuk kayak puck gitu lo...

Moka Pot - Introduction

Apakah moka pot itu?

Moka pot itu adalah salah satu alat buat bikin espresso.

Cara kerjanya simple,
silakan liat gambar berikut:

Moka Pot terdiri dari 3 bagian: A, B, C.
Simpelnya:
Bagian A diisi dengan air.
Bagian B diisi dengan kopi.
Lalu moka pot diletakkan di atas kompor, di-tangkringin kalo kate orang betawi.
Panas dari api akan membuat air menguap, lalu naik ke atas, melalui bagian B, lalu masuk ke bagian C sebagai Espresso.

btw ini semua gue sadur dari wikipedia tentang Moka (coffe pot).

Ampas kopinya tertinggal di bagian B dan bagian C penuh dengan Espresso yang mantabs!:D

Kok lo tumben2an blogging dengan alat buat kopi?

Well, gue baru beli satu dari kaskus:P

Time Off - Bali Dec 2010 - Summary

Liburan Natal tahun 2010, gue isi dengan liburan ke Bali. Ini adalah pertama kali gue+istri gue liburan bersama ke Bali.

Postingan ini adalah untuk sharing kegiatan kami di Bali.

Kami berada di Bali dari 16 Desember 2010 - 20 Desember 2010.

Berikut ini adalah vendor-vendor yang kita gunakan pada waktu di Bali:

1. 16 Desember 2010 Terbang ke Denpasar dengan menggunakan Batavia Air. Batavia Air juga airline yang gue pakai untuk penerbangan pulang, Denpasar Jakarta.

2. Dari 16 Desember 2010 kita nginap tiga malam di Oasis Kuta.

3. Setelah itu, dari tanggal 19 Desember 2010, kita nginap semalam di Novotel, Tanjung Benoa.

4. Selama di Bali, kemana-mana naik mobil sewaan dari Pak Dewa.

Bagaimana review untuk masing-masing vendor?
Kayak apa jalan-jalannya di Bali?

The Journey Begins...

notebook/workstation-nya elo...

Isinya, softwarenya apa saja?
Until very recently,
software di notebook gue banyak yang adalah software bajakan...

Bukannya gue nggak biasa make software open source,
hanya saja, secara operating system, windows di notebook gue adalah windows licensed/original,
akibatnya jadi berasanya enteng banget nginstall Microsoft Office dan software-software lainnya, seperti Visio, Microsoft Project di notebook gue, walaupun gue tau itu bukan software original.

Anyway,
di kantor, lagi digalakkan penggunaan software legal.
Intinya pake software open source/free atau bayar sendiri
(Kok, keperluan kantor harus beli sendiri? Itu bahasan tersendiri dan nggak dalam skope!:P)

Trus akibatnya,
gue uninstall Microsoft Office, lalu menggantinya dengan Open Office
gue uninstall Microsoft Visio, lalu menggantinya dengan Dia
gue uninstall Microsoft Project, lalu menggantinya dengan OpenProj

Hasilnya...
There are some bumps...
But...
So far, so good!:D

Mengangkot ke Kantor

Buat yang belum tau, gue sekarang punya 2 kantor. 2 lokasi kantor lebih tepatnya. Yang satu letaknya di daerah Mega Kuningan (ini buat sales, BOD dan sebangsanya), yang satu lagi letaknya di daerah BSD (kalo yang ini buat "dapur")

Anyway, gue banyakannya kalo pagi ke kantor yang daerah Mega Kuningan. Kalau ke kantor yang daerah Mega Kuningan ini, gue banyakan menggunakan busway. Ke kantor yang BSD biasanya siang, sesudah gue ke kantor yang di Mega Kuningan.

Pernah juga si, ke kantor yang BSD pagi. Cuman biasanya gue naek taksi. Pagi ini, iseng-iseng gue nyoba ke kantor yang BSD naek angkot. Ternyata asik juga bo! Secara nggak macet. Kalau dari rumah, cuman sekitar 1 jam-an. Jadi rutenya adalah:
1. Naek ojek dulu ke halte busway
2. Naek busway ke Terminal Kalideres
3. Naek angkot de, ke lokasi kantor

Besok-besok, bakalan sering ke kantor BSD ni kalo pagi.:P

btw pas gue menyisir jalan Daan Mogot, mata gue menangkap restoran Pindang Pegagan. Musti dicoba ni!:D

Can not login to CDE after

Last week I can not login to my brand new workstation.

The workstation is a SUN Ultra-25, using Solaris 10 as its operating system.

Actually that workstation was already configured for me. I logged on to the workstation, admire the new shiny interface of Solaris 10(very cool blue!), start up some applications, then notice that I can not connect to the network.

After some investigation, I found out that the network interface was not yet configured as required in my working environment.

So I changed the IP address using ifconfig. I also edit these files:

/etc/hosts
/etc/netmasks
/etc/defaultrouter

So if I restart the workstation, the configuration won't revert to the old configurations.

Everything work, I can ping another workstation. I can logged in to another server.

Next step, I restarted the workstation, to test whether the configuration persist or not.

The workstation booted up just fine. I can telnet to it from another workstation. So I went to its monitor and try to login to the CDE.

To my surprises, I can not log in to the CDE!
It produce "can not start message server" error, and suggest me to check these files:

/etc/src.sh
/usr/adm/inetd.sec
/var/adm/messages
$HOME/.dt/errorlog

File 1 and 2 did not exist. I can not find related error in file 3.
However in file 4, I found "can not start message server" error, or something like that. I forgot!:P

I did some googling and try this, as suggested in one of the online forum:

Delete the .dt directory and .TTAutorithy file and restart the application. Those directory and file were automatically recreated, but I still can not login to system.

After some thinkings and meditations:P I remember about the ipnodes file.

So I find it using command find / | grep ipnodes, and locate it under the directory /etc/inetd.
Open it using vi, I found out that the content is exactly the same as /etc/hosts.
I edited it to match my new configuration, then restart my workstation.

With my finger crossed, I try to logged on to the system.

This time it works!:D

PHP adodb: Connect vs NConnect

What is the difference between the Connect and NConnect in an ADODB Connection object?

I have found out the hard way....

Please examine the code below:

$db1 = NewADOConnection("mysql");
$db2 = NewADOConnection("mysql);

$db1->Connect("localhost", "user", "password", "db1");
$db2->Connect("localhost", "user", "password", "db2");

$rs = $db1->Execute("select * from table1") or die($db1->ErrorMsg());

If table1 does not exist in db2, the code above will produce error, complaining that table1 does not exist in db2.

Wow, but I am executing the command in db1!!!

Apparently, the adodb, in this case, with same host and user, will reuse the connection.
So, in this case, you have to force it open new connection...

Use NConnect, instead of Connect or PConnect.

For further research, RTFM at the adodb documentation.

What is your fave linux package manager?
I've tried apt-get, rpm, and urpmi.

Recently, I've tried the yellow dog update manager (yum). Based on the rpm, yum, as implied in its name, was firstly developed for the mac linux distribution, the Yellow Dog. The application was very cool, so then is was ported to a x86-based distribution. I'm using it with my freshly installed FC4.

The "auto search" is the most appreciated feature of yum. With this feature, if a network read error occured, then the program automatically, launched the same thing on others mirrors. This is so cool! I can't find this feature on apt-get and urpmi.

I was a die harder rpm fan. But because of this feature, I'm switching to yum. Bye... bye... dependency hells!:D

btw did you know that mirrors.playboy.com, is one of the 1st mirror FC4 yum looks?
hm........:D

fedora core 4

Just installed Fedora Core 4 on my laptop.
Cool man!
The interface is so beautiful!
I love GNOME! :D

Do all the ussual things:
rebuild the MySQL RPM version 5.0.18-standard downloaded from the mysql site. Everything went OK.

rebuild the PHP RPM. Found out that the default version for the FC4 is PHP 5, not PHP 4. There three solutions:

downgrade to FC3
downgrade the PHP to PHP 5
use PHP 5 in the PHP 4 compatibility mode

Since I've done a great deal customizing, the 1st option is out of question.

Then I tried the 2nd option. I've downloaded the src RPM PHP 4 for the FC3. When I tried to rebuild it, it responded with some strange error. After a quick googling, I figured out that FC4 is shipped with GCC 4. GCC 4 is bad! (well, at least for compiling the PHP 4 package for the FC3)

So I take the third option. Edit /etc/php.ini, set parameter: zend.ze1_compatibility_mode to On from it's Off default.
Then run a test....
Extracted a newest jpgraph, the latest pro version 1.21p, which specifically designed for PHP 4, then run the test suit.
Some oops, about some missing True Type fonts.
Do another googling then download the msttcorefont package, to correct this oops.
After this fonts things, the jpgraph test suit seems to load OK.

So can I be sure that the PHP 5 run in compatibility mode will fully compatible with PHP 4??? :-/

Just realized a thing....
I always wonder why I did that....
Why I choose another person, after I said to another person that I can not live without her.

All these years this thing haunted me. I have troubles sleeping at night because of this.
All these years, I kept wondering, what will happen, if I didn't choose the path I've taken.
All these years I kept blamming myself, for the indecisive person I am.

This morning I finally realize why I did that.
I was jealous!!! :((

Before I made that decission, I met her at the mcDonald Citraland.
It supposed to be our reunion.
I saw her with her high school boy friend.
I guessed that memory some how recide in my sub conscious.... :((

Years have passed....
I've done my share with another persons....
She has done her share....

Just wondering....

fedora core 4 and python 2.4.2

Just downloaded a python 2.4.2 source RPM. I tried to rebuild it using rpmbuild --rebuild command. It failed. It complained about a missing db 4.2 library.

After a quick search, I found out that there is no db 4.2 library in Fedora Core 4. It was shipped with db 4.3.

I solved it by making a db 4.2 symlink pointed to db 4.3 library file(the .so file).

A lesson learned...

RHEL 4: php_oci8

I've got a new box with RHEL 4 pre-installed. I got that brand new box for a new project. This particular project will use Oracle as the database engine. It will also use PHP for the front-end.

The classic problem for the Oracle+PHP is that the PHP must be recompiled to include the Oracle Extension. In the past, I would've opted the compiled from source approach. But for this one, I've tried and succeded using the rebuild RPM approach.

Here's a list what I've done:

install the Oracle 9i on top RHEL 4
download the PHP Source RPM from ftp://ftp.redhat.com/
rename gcc.orig, created after installing compat-gcc package (required to install Oracle 9i on top RHEL 4), to gcc
do the rpm --rebuild
install php_oci8 package using rpm -Uvh --nodeps, so it will not complain about missing oracle client library
set up the ORACLE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH for the root environment

And the whole thing just fall into the intended places.:D

A New Lesson

Yesterday, I attended a friend's wedding. I went there with my friend from Junior High.
We arrived a bit late. My friend actually forgot about the occassion.
In short, when we arrived other guests already gone home.
Grab a dinner, do the customary shakehands, and we just hit the road.

On the way back to our homes, we talked a lot. We've got a lot to catch up. After all, it was our second meeting after we departed from our home town, about 8 years ago.
We talked about lot of things.

My friend was my best friend boyfriend. There were happy, until suddenly he broke up the relationship.
She was devastated...
She called me and was on tears when she told me that news. She tought that he did that because he has found another person. It was really awfull, when one of your best friend called you and told you that kind of news.

And now after all these years, I finally heared from other side. He told me the reason why he broke up with her. He did that because he felt that he was not worthy enough for my friend. And there was no other person. And how he felt really awfull afterward.

In short, he let her go, so she could find a better person.
Hm... that's something new.
A new lesson for me...
