1. Every cigarette i did not smoke (400 out of 600 a year)

2. Mumbai auto walas, their auspicious absence (after i moved to Delhi) is chicken soup for anyone's self esteem. Afterall 10 rejections a day on average can make even mona lisa feel like worthless shit.

3. Pseudo-winters of mumbai, for after years i rediscovered the joy of wearing mufflers.

4. The greedy blood sucking real estate broker, you helped me buy a new phone and lot of new clothes.

5. Many thanks to Rahul gandhi for not being a part of my TV screen at all this year. (So no pic here either)

6. Selfie syndrome, something i managed to avoid so far and successfully guised my not so selfie-genic self.

7. Bollywood 100 cr club could never drill my pockets.

I sat in one of the middle seats in rear part of this plane, which wasn't due to fly for at least good 25 minutes. Trying to distract away from an artillery of random thoughts, i browsed through business times, i picked in the waiting lounge.
But this one was of the occasions that required much more than a mere distraction. This one was of farewell, though i felt relieved at the news, father broke to me that morning.
When i received his call that morning, he said hastily, book your next flight to delhi, dadi passed away an hour ago, he meant nothing more to be conveyed in that call.

I tried to get details but it was too late, he had hung up. Sensation of relief rushed through my head, for the woman who had had much more than her fair share of pain and agony towards the end of her life. She had finally received what she wanted badly, what everyone wanted for her, the woman whom i once dearly called dadi.

In the still aeroplane my thoughts were already taking flight to thousand miles away and not many years ago. One of my first memories of her were when she would pin me down in her lap and put kajal in my eyes, i assumed it was some sort of daily chore she followed religiously in my initial years. She would also take us to temple occasionally which was few blocks away. I came across memories where she would almost heroically favor us against dad when rebuffed for some mischief. Occasions where she taught us, inserting a thread in the rear of a needle, when she taught us some mantras, and many more uncountable instances of unconditional love and affectionate rebukes. But some flashbacks also came from past four years, when she had been bedridden for her left half was paralyzed four years ago. These were of her incessant cries asking for her end, that painful expression made us all wish same for her.
Quickly browsing through these strong memories of her, while i turned pages absentmindedly, i could feel the plane moving and getting ready to take off.
I have always looked forward to the take offs for the speed and thrill is always exciting, however then, all i could feel was little sense of nostalgia and relief, only manifolds.
Its been four days now, since i received that call from father, we have been through dadi's funeral and other services, and all our relief has been now replaced by grief and nostalgia. Now there are no more of her painful cries but also no more of 25 years of her glorious unconditional love & affection . Now i will know whom i will not see when i come back again. Dadi you will be missed greatly. :'(
