Elvis Costello Concert

I went to the Chautauqua lake institute again to see Elvis Costello in Concert. I would give it about a 8 out of ten. When Elvis first came he was wearing a grey suite, thick black glasses, and a purple hat. He brought about eight different guitars with him, which he interchanged in points throughout the show. The instruments the band had were a piano key accordion, acoustic guitars, a violin, and a ukulele. Elvis was very animated almost to a fault. at the end of almost every one of his songs he would hold up is guitar, pause, then strum one more time. During a lot the songs you would see Elvis jerking around over his guitar. There was a very distinct line between getting into the music and whatever Elvis was doing. Despite of this he played his guitars extremely well, his riffs were amazing, and he strummed very fast and expertly. When Elvis took pauses in between his songs he cracked jokes and had everybody laughing. When Elvis started singing he did not sound good, but after the first few songs his voice started sounding better. Another one of his problems is he was singing too loud into the microphone which made the speakers make cracking noises. The concert lasted about 2 hours and 15 minutes with a five song encore. The mood of this concert was very calm. Almost everyone sat in there seats the whole time and did not even try to dance. Even though the crowd was younger then usual. There was a little girl who kept trying to give Elvis a rose. He did not see the little girl the first two times she ran up, but the third time he took the rose, put it in a glass of water he had and signed a paper she had. Three people who sat right behind me seemed to be drunk and kept shouting out "I love you Elvis" and song names they wanted him to play.

Beach Boys Concert!

To start off I was at a Beach Boys concert on august 21st. The concert was great. I give the performances a 10 out of 10. Even though Mike Love the lead singer is 68 years old he had a fantastic stage presence. Mike was dancing around on stage and his voice sounded just as good as when they first started the band. The sound quality of the concert was great the singers sounded just as good as they do in the albums if not better, but the drums drowned out the voices just a little bit. The band brought a great light system with them that really complemented the mood of the concert. I was really surprised how high some of the beach boys could sing. The vibrancy of the concert was amazing. The band members were pulling people up on stage during one of the songs. The security tried to stop people from getting close to the stage and dancing but eventually the crowd won the battle. Everyone was getting into the music, someone who particularly caught my eyes was an elderly woman who had a walker, was standing up, and bobbing her body up and down. Some people inflated a couple of beach balls and everybody was hitting them around. There were also a couple interesting people who were up close to the stage wearing floaties and one of the guys was wearing a bikini top. I have to admit it was kinda scary. Also mike would sign things that people held up to him while he was singing. At the end of thee concert the band came back for one encore with three songs. After that the guitarist handed out pics and the drummer handed out drum sticks.

I give this song 9 out of 10
This song starts slow but speeds up later on
It is generally up beat and a good song for a party or to cheer yourself up

2. Down by Jay Sean with Lil Wayne on the album single Down in the Pop genre

I give this song 6 out of 10
This is not the fastest pop song but it still isn't slow
It has a good beat but i don't particularly like the words
He says down to much and its a little annoying

3. Use Somebody by Kings of Leon on the album Only By the Night in the Alternative genre

I give this song a 7 out of 10
Caleb Followill from Kings of Leon voice sounds way to much like Dave Matthews in this song
It is a little bit depressing, not a real pick me up

4. Good Girls Go Bad by Cobra Starship with Leighton Meester on the single album Good Girls Go Bad in the Alternative genre

I give this song 4 out of 10
It seems more like a Hiphop song to me
There aren't many lerics in this song which is pretty weak
The only complement i have for it is I like the beat

5. You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift on the Album Fearless in the Country genre

I'll give this 8 out of 10
Taylor Swift has a great voice
this makes me think a little bit better of country music because it wasn't all banjos and things like that

6. Hotel Room Service by Pitbull on the single album Hotel Room Service in the Hiphop\Rap genre

I give this song 2 out of 10
The lyrics are pretty nasty
It seems like they were trying to make I'm on a boat but with a hotel

7.Fire Burning by Sean Kingston on the single album Fire Burning in the Hiphop\Rap genre

I give this 8.5 out of 10
Even though the songs lyrics mostly talk about dancing it is a song that sticks in your head and gets you dancing
This is in my opinion Sean Kingston's best song so far

8. Knock You Down by Keri Hilson with Kanye West And Ne-Yo in the R&B\Soul genre

I give this 9 out of 10
The first time that i heard this song i did not really like it but it grew on me
This song also conveys a great message about letting nothing keep you down

9. Boom Boom Pow by The Black Eyed Peas on their album The E.N.D in the Pop genre

I give this song a 8 out of 10
the beat in this song is perfect for almost any party
I usually prefer real instruments but i really liked this

10. Best I Ever Had by Drake on the single album Best I Ever Had in the Hiphop\Rap genre its explicit

I give this 3 out of 10
The song swears unnecessarily
It is really sexually explicit
