Once upona time there was a 17 year old portugese winger called Christiano Ronaldo who was prolific and full of flamboyance was playing for Sporting. So during the summer of 2003 when Manchester United were beaten by Sporting 1-3 the king(Mr. Alex Fergusen) was impressed.
The fairy tale of Christiano Ronaldo begins.........
He was signed by his highness Sir Alex Fergusen for a measly 12.24 million pounds. In his first season itself was crowned young player of the year then in following he again received the award for the young player of the season. He was an instant hit with the whole world watching him he has clearly filled big shoes of players like George Best, Eric Cantona, Bryan Robson and David Beckham.
Season after season he was breaking records and scoring more and more goals...Finally in 2008 helped them lift the Champions League Trophy. To appreciate his achievements he was crowned with the Balln d'Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year....So Chrisiano was in demand was approached by another big kingdom "Real Madrid" who were offering him a shambolic amount of 80 million pounds so he signs a 5 year deal of serving Manchester United worth a whopping 120,000 pounds per week....
Ronaldo sells out........
In 2009 Manchester United enters the finals of Champions League Final and unfortunately loses the battle of Stadio Olympico against another heavyweight kingdom FC Barcelona....Real Madrid grabs this oppurtunity with both hands and offers Ronaldo another deal worth 80 million pounds for 5 years......And there he goes following footsteps of David Beckham, Michael Owen and many others who were in their prime but failed miserable in Real Madrid
Ronaldo will also fail at hands of this greedy kindom of Real Madrid......

Scene 1- Build Up

What a display of football by Barca, they were playing football out of this world a trully mersmerising display of ball possession and passing which Manu found very hard to breakthrough...Being a core Manu fan for the past 4 years I was very optimistic about the gameI knew they were up against a awesome team...I was very eager to watch this game as I had been toiling in KPMG for 2 weeks thought that a Manu victory would boost my morale...It was 12 and I sat down on my bean bag with a coke bottle and wafers on my side...First 10 minutess Manu were really dictating the terms they even had chances to score which were gone begging...

Scene 2-Eto goal

Aaaaaaaargh!!!!!!Out of nowhere Samuel Eto scores a flash of brilliance from him and a clinical finish. Boy its a dream front 3 for any team Henry,Eto and Messi woah and they deliver everytime...Even Henry showed his vintage stuff after that goal, from then on Manu were the second best team in that game

Scene 3-MOM (Masters of Midfield) Iniesta and Xavi

Their midfield was superb hardly gave the ball away the were the lungs of the attack of barca always supplying them with high precision passes...I agree with what Rooney and Fergusen said after the game about the midfield they were in their own parallel universe....

Scene 4-Messi (height 5 foot 9) scores with a brilliant header

The initial buildup to this game mainly focussed on Messi and Ronaldo but Messi was a clear winner this guy literally has magnets in his boots doesnt leave the ball at all and can run so fast with the ball that vidic was finding it difficult to catchup with him...The header was out of the top drawer and the jump even better, it looked as though he stayed up in air for a moment to place that header properly in the bottom corner...Phew what abilities this guy has he is truly the deserving winner of Ballon' dOr....

Scene 5-:,(

It waas heartbreaking to see Manu go down in such a manner ....but the football match was too good and truly was the perfect tonic to releive my broken heart(Oh gosh!! I am so out of words)

When I came to know that Sachin has scored a lightning fast 163 against New Zealand a thought came into my mind how old is he? Then it went to all other different players like Ryan giggs, Paul Scholes, Alex Fergusen age does not act as a barrier for them, the experience which they have is unmatchable, all the young players look upto them for advice and inspiration...
Look at Alex Fergusen his age is not at all hampering the way he has managed Manchester
United he still has trust in his players Ryan Giggs who is now in brilliant form...
Be it Sachin himself god knows how many people have pointed fingers at him about taking retirement....but he is not the one who will stoop down easily he is the one who will only retire when he is no longer enjoying the game...
Even Alex Fergusen also stated that retirement will come into question only when he stops enjoying the game....
What I like about these professionals is that they still love their sport are very passionate about it like any youngster is...Perhaps this is what is keeping them alive in the GAME........

Terrosists attack on Cricketers | Sri Lanka v/s Pakistan

I was just sitting in my room expecting people to update me on the India v/s New Zealand match, but they came up with the most shocking news I could have ever imagined of "guess what terrorist attack the Sri Lankan cricket team and 6 players are injured" my reacton "WTF".......
Damn it...Terrorism has even spread to the world of sports the scenes were shocking where the heck was the security and what would have happened to Team India who were supposed to tour instead of Sri Lanka.....
The only terrorist incident which I can recall is that of 1976 Olympics were 11 Israeli atheletes were held hostages and later executed...
Even before the teams were apprehensive of visiting Pakistan to play cricket now any team would think twice before entering Pakistan to play cricket....With 2011 World Cup which was supposed to be held in the sub-continent after a decade, seems a far-fetched reality...Hosting a World Cup is out of the question now....
Pakistan always had this conception that cricket wont be targeted by the terrorists I guess the terrorists have now found a soft target the cricketers, who are regarded as heroes of their country....In general we had enough of terrorists attacks from our so-called " freindly neighbour " the government has to do something prepare an operation like the bluestar get rid of them quick and fast or else Pakistan which has been a heritage cricketing nation will burn and fall like a Zeppelin....
Its a pity I never thought I will write an article on terrorism in my blog...Pity those who died protecting the cricketers...What on earth is happening!!!!!

The champions league is back after a long hibernation period and with the much awaited 1st leg clashes over time to look back at them....

Inter Milan v/s Manchester united (0-0)

Being a loyal united fan I was waiting for this much awaited clash.... Manu definitely dominated much of the game with their slick passing but the hero was Inter's keeper Cesar , who pulled out some magnificant saves to keep united at bay at the San Siro where United lost in 2007 to Milan...
Inter were in a total mess they were very apprehensive in their approach to this game and Zlatan needs to contribute more in the game coz if he plays well Inter will also play...Now Inter faces a daunting challenge at Old Trafford and with Manu getting better after every game my money will be on Manu to go through the next leg....(Go United).

Lyon v/s Barcelona F.C (1-1)

The result kind of surprised as I expected Barca to sail through it but kudos to Lyon and it was another brilliant Juninho free kick which gave them the lead but Barca managed to crawl back thanks to the veteren Henry's goal in the second half...Inspite of this inspired performance by Lyon I dont expect them to beat barca at Nou Camp so in my view Barca will go through to the next round...

Arsenal v/s Roma (1-0)

Another anglo-italian clash , where the english team has shown their supremacy... This win will boost their confidence after the terrible BPL season although the next leg might be a bit dicey so there's 50-50 chnce for gunners to go through to the next round...

Athletico Madrid v/s F.C.Porto (2-2)

Probably the least anticipated fixture of all... Porto could have won this match but their keeper had some other ideas oh god what aa shocker a school kid could have saved that.....I dont even want to predict the next leg....

Real Madrid v/s Liverpool (0-1)

Real Madrid entered this match entered this match high on confidence after their performance in Liga and with Gerrard on the bench I expected Real to atleast draw...The match was dull and cagey Real lacked the finishing with most of their shots were from outside the box and Torres coming close only to be denied by Casillas...but it was again Real's defence that let them down with Heinze giving away that unnecessary freekick and a short guy like Banayoun scoring with the header with no one marking him....It will be a monumental task for Real Madrid at Anfield and I have not seen Liverpool lose their champions league games at Anfield...Its written now Liverpool will go through the next round...

Chelsea v/s Juventus (1-0)

The Guus Hiddink factor does it again this man is a magician can do wonders...Chelsea dominated most of the match and another italian team bites the dust gosh they have lost their panache and dominance on european stage...Drogba's scoring drought is over which will definitely give him a confidence booster...but he next leg at Turin might be tricky let us see if Hiddink's team conquers the Old Lady...

Villareal v/s Panathanaikos (1-1)

I didnt think before this match that a team of Villareal's calibre will struggle against Panathanaikos...I think Villareal wont go through to the next leg Panathanaikos is high on confidence with the next match at Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium backed by the support of home crowd and an away goal they should go through....

Sporting v/s Bayern Munich (0-5)

This was the only mismatch and the high scoring game this week....Frank Riberry weild his magic again scoring 2 goals and with Klose and Toni scoring goals Bayern are already through to the next stage but against big teams they have to be more consisitent......

Padmashri Awards 2009-A FARCE

The coveted Padmashri Awards 2009 for exellence in the field of sports were given to Shri Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Shri Abhinav Bindra and our very own Bhajji paaji (God only knows why?). Now Dhoni and Bindra truly deserve this award but I was bewildered to see Bhajji getting this award. Off late I haven't seen a single match winning performance by him, sardarji was too busy in his own controversies like Maaki or Monkey incident with Andrew Symonds and the slapgate controversy with Sreesanth. Its a shame to give such a prestigious award to a person who has no respect for the game or himself.
What happened to Vijendra Singh the boxer who got us a bronze medal initially the Indian Government were gung-ho about him offering him land and goodies and now he is nowhere to be seen.
Or the wrestler Sushil Kumar who trained night and day at the Najafgarh Akhara's and got us the silver medal .
Or the badminton teenage sensation Saina Nehwal who is in her early teens and is already ranked 10. Although Sania Mirza got the same award in 2006 when her rank was in late 50's, probably they must have also taken the glamour quotient into account(thats just my interpretation) .
If they so desperately wanted to give this award to an Indian bowler they shoud have chosen Zaheer Khan who has produced many match winning performances for India and his record is also way way better than Bhajji's.
Even the media kept their mouth zipped about these awards it was shocking as I expected some reaction from the print media or the news but there was none...the Government of India should wake from its deep slumber, if they want theIndian Sportperson to do wellon world stage they ahould stop this BASPHEMY...

KAKA....a true lover of the beautiful game

Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite or Kaka as the whole world know him, can't help respect him for his commitment towards A.C.Milan who is clearly following the footsteps of the great Paolo Maldini...He is a truly true exponent of the beautiful game...This whole thing started with Manchester City trying to be like the Galacticos with their new owner Khaldoon-Al-Mubarak throwing in money to buy worldclass players though he managed to sign Robinho from Real Madrid but got a kick in the ass in the transfer of Kaka...Manchester City's transfer regime is all a sham buying players like that in "slave trade" regardless of the teams chemistry....Inspite of all this shambolic buying spree of players they are still struggling in the league...Kaka himself said right now they are struggling in the league and winning trophies is out of the question for them, even the ostentatious price tag of 175.7 million dollar's could not lure him out of the club....Kudos to Kaka he is some to be idolised, a truly true exponent of the beautiful game which we call FOOTBALL!!!

There and back again is Juande Ramos back from his failure at mordor(Tottenham Hotspurs) to his shire(Spain ) where he led his former club Sevilla to Uefa Cup and Uefa Super Cup win only to be rewarded with a new job at Tottenham Hotspurs worth 6 million euros a year making him the higest paid managers.
It all started well with Tottenham Hotspurs who were in the relegation zone before his arrival but the clubs performance in the cup games improved as they crossed the second stage of uefa cup only to be beaten on penalties and the league cup victory which included wins against Arsenal(5-1) and Chelsea(2-1) and they finished 11th in the table. But 2008-09 saw Ramos lead them to the worst ever starts they were quite visibly missing the services of Dimitar Berbatov.
So what happens....as usual he gets sacked and gets replaced by Harry Redknapp.This was his tale at MORDOR.
Now he is back again at shire and in a new home at Santiago Bernabeu which is in dire straits with their recent run of losses the most recent being the 4-3 loss against Sevilla. This recent run of horrible form has lead to the sacking of Schuster who in the press quoted that "Real Madrid are incapable of winning the El Classico". Whatever Ramos definitely has a burden on his shoulders. The Galcticos a side filled with stars and managing them will be a problem. His first game is the Uefa Champions League match against Zenit St.Ptersburg but will he be able to pep up this shattered side against Barcelona at Camp Nou this weekend.
We will have to wait and watch but this Barca side is on a rampage with a goal difference of +35 which is out of the ordinary and Juande Ramos has to prepare his side to prevent any sort of embarrassment at El Classico, with half of the stars injured it seems a very uphill task.

The global economic crisis has affected everyone and the latest to come under its spell is the sporting world. The sporting world has never seen such a time, nowadays every sport has got high influx of cash from the corporate world in it with sportsperson’s in various sports earning big money. Due to the influence of major corporates in sporting world, the current global economic crisis has resulted in some of the major finance companies to go into bankruptcy now the sporting world is facing a similar situation.

AIG (American Insurance Group) the sponsor of the biggest football club in the world Manchester United and the amount agreed for sponsorship was an English League record. But with AIG going into bankruptcy the whole sponsorship amount is in jeopardy. Another English club that is West Ham (known as Hammers) are now sporting a nameless T-shirt as their previous sponsors’ the tour operator XL leisure group collapse. Northern Rock bank the sponsors’ of Newcastle United were in jeopardy but were rescued by the British government. Football in my opinion is the worst possible victim of this financial debacle. But according to the chief executive of the BPL Richard Scudamore said that the structure of the game was sustainable despite the crisis.

Amid slumping sales by nearly all the major automobile industry the highly financial dependent Formula 1 has had its victims. Honda, a Japanese automobile powerhouse has pulled out of the formula one racing amidst global crisis which has severely affected their automobile sales. For the F1 team Honda employs around 700 employees and drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello. This move might also prompt fear into other manufacturer’s minds. Another victim has been the French Grand Prix which has been the part of F1’s circuit since its inception in 1950’s, but recently the 2009 French Grand Prix was cancelled amidst financial crisis.

The global financial crisis has also left its scars on cricket. The Jalandar sports industry whose annual turnover was somewhere around 20 billion rupees is facing the heat coz of the current crisis, with depreciating rupee further weakening its volume of trades. Even the cricket stadiums are not able to find any takers for the corporate stands (The Karnataka Cricket association Ground in Bangalore even their tickets were so high priced they just managed to sell 18000 tickets) . Even the broadcasting companies are facing the heat of financial crisis like Neo Sports who found it hard to fill the ad space in the recent India England home series where the initial ad space was 4 lakh for a 10 second spot but was later sold at 2.5 lakh. The effect of sliding value of rupee has also affected the IPL franchisee’s as the foreign supposed to be paid in dollars, now when IPL started the value of rupee against dollar was 40 but now it’s almost 50, hence the franchisee’s have to shell out a lot more for the foreign players.

Phew......this global financial crisis has surely taken the sporting world into its helm and all the sports are reeling under its pressure.

New Zealand's cricket team in dumps

What has happened to the Black Caps of late........they have produced legends like martin crowe, dennis lillie, chris cairns, stephen fleming and they also were the finalist in 1992 world cup, semi-finalist in 2004 world cup........but all of sudden they are falling a pack of cards....the main reason is that they have not produced any world class cricketer recently like Australia, India, Sri Lanka have their whole bowling attack looks in total shambles expect Daniel Vettori, they dont have a matchwinner in their team who can take the game away from the opposition especially in the two test where the batsmen performance was atrocious.
Legends like Martin Crowe and Richard Hadlee would be crying after seeing the state of New Zealand cricket team.......They must do something already their test ranking is 8th which is above west indies they can very well go below it.
As a matter of fact they will face West Indies which is itself broken at home next week they shuld be able to beat them comprehensively in their home soil but hello they lack the medium pace bowlers now like Gavin Laarson or Craig McMillan who can take advantage of the pitch conditions.
Even the popularity of the game has gone down in New Zealand what we see is only empty stands in New Zealand during the game of cricket.....Very few young talents come in and they fade quickly and in a small country like New Zealand they cannot afford to do that....
The have to bring some reforms in their cricket structure now do something about their domestic structure or probably change the conditions of their cricket tracks as these kind of tracks are not used anywhere else.

Here goes another talented Dutch league player who joins the brigade of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Patrick Kluivert, Johann Cryuff, Marco van Basten, Dirk Kuyt, Robin van Persie, Wesley Sneijder and the list goes on.........This time its Klaas Jan Huntelaar who sets to leave for Real Madrid joining his dutch teammates Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, Rafael van der Vaart and Ruud van Nistelrooy who will make him feel at HOME.........Damn its like a talent drain out of Holland......they have produced some of the best players in the world nobody can't forget the dutch trio of death....or Ruud van Nistelrooy's dream season with Manchester United......they have produced legends and still dutch league has failed to retain them over a long term period.....why??(I leave you guys to answer this questions)
