Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Peace....

Paintings of Christ
When you are faced with verbal conflict, list five things that you can do to improve the situation.

2. Before you begin to write you should brainstorm ideas and then write a thesis statement.
    a. Define the terms "brainstorm" and "thesis" in complete sentences.
    b. Give an example of a well-constructed thesis statement.

3. " When writing a draft document, ideas and concepts are more important than punctuation and grammar."
  Explain why you agree or disagree that this is a true statement?

4.During the discussion about critical thinking we discussed "bias" bias that you have and describe how it affects your ability to be a critical thinker.

5./ In the chapter on communicating, it states that we should "view complaints as requests". How do you respond to complaints? What can you do differently the next time someone complains to you?

ESSAY

1. Discuss how non verbal messages, (the things you do but don't say) can affect the message you are transmitting during a conflict. List specific examples of at least three and discuss.

Who is Melai, the Pinoy Big Brother Double Up Winner?

Last night, live via satellite, Melisa Cantivero, a.k.a. February is a season of love. What a better way to share our love than to help those who needed it most - the Haiti victims. My heart goes out to all the victims of Haiti. It was a very devastating catastrophe and I can't help but get very sad for the people who lost the lives of their loved ones. I know we did our share in helping them out in one way or another but this season of love, we can all make a difference.

Wondering what I'm talking about? Here's the story

I am in my room here in front of my pc and dad came to tell me to turning this pc off coz he is going to work  on his motor (welding) which I have to shut my pc off. Yes, I feel so nervous and my heart beating so fast, lol so I didn't really hear dad getting in the room.  I was focus doing something and I screamed bloody murder when I turned around. I didn't expect my dad was to be standing at my back and slow to say on me, lol. that (dai) daughter can u turn ur pc off coz I am going to attach something on my motor and I have to use welding machine...I said;

ME :" Dad Or Papa you scared the heck out of me"
Papa/Dad: (laughing) you didn't hear me coming?
Me: No!.. I(laughing) you scared me so bad! Don't do that again.

To my surprise I screamed, It was like a bathroom scene in a horror movie, lol....Imagine your trying to focus something and when you turn around a man is standing at your back with you, my instinct was to scream. Fortunately it was just my father.

Seriously head ache!

My head pounding &I need something to fully function,still groggy. It's one of those days where I feel like the song. Sure I have a lot of those days that I don't feel anything like a woman. At time I feel like I have lost myself in my kids but when I do feel like a woman I try to really enjoy the day. So let's just sing along and it feels good to be a woman. I also happen to love Shania Twain and thinks she is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. She was like a breath of fresh air when she guest as a judge in American Idol.

Monday, January 18, 2010 Tempura Batter

Who doesn't like tempura? Tempura is a style of deep-fried cooking, the word derives from the Japanese word - 'seasoning'. Tempura dishes are served with steamed rice, udon or as a starter.

The secret in making good tempura batter is minimal beating while making the batter, and ice-cold water. The cold prevents the tempura batter from absorbing excess oil; keeping it crispy and light. Ice cubes are sometimes added in the water to hold the cool temperature. Would you like to make your own tempura batter?

Here's how:

Prepare these ingredients for the tempura batter recipe:

* 2 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 tablespoons baking powder
* 1/4 cup cornstarch (preferred), or sweet potato starch, or panko-Japanese bread crumb
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 2 eggs, slightly beaten
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1-1/2 cups ice-cold water

-Combine well the flour, baking powder, baking soda and cornstarch (or sweet potato starch/panko) in a large bowl.

-Add eggs, salt and water to Step 2 ingredients. Beat lightly the mixture with a fork or chopsticks until flour is moistened. Lumps may appear, but don't worry about that.

-Coat seafood and vegetables immediately with the tempura batter. Tempura batter is best when used within a few minutes after making. If you are frying large batches of food using the batter, make tempura batter in small portions instead, and try to finish each portion within a couple minutes.

Blast Off! Nino. My family used to go in a procession, light a candle, say a prayer and offer a dance. In 9 days of celebration, group of people from different establishments and company's or schools offer their own prayer through dancing and shouting PIT SENYOR! The Sinulog festival is one of the grandest and most colorful festivals in the Philippines. The main festival is held each year on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City to honor the Santo Niño, or the child Jesus, who used to be the patron saint of the whole province of Cebu (since in the Catholic faith Jesus is not a saint, but God). It is essentially a dance ritual which remembers the Filipino people’s pagan past and their acceptance of Christianity. The word Sinulog comes from the Cebuano adverb sulog which is “like water current movement,” which describes the forward-backward movement of the Sinulog dance.

The Healing prayer of God that's really helpful

Here is a tidbits of history how it arrived in cebu.

Historical accounts say that before Portuguese navigator came to Cebu on April 7, 1521 to plant the cross on its shore and claim the country for the King of Spain, Sinulog was already danced by the natives in honor of their wooden idols and anitos. Then Magellan came and introduced Christianity. He gave the Sto. Nino (image of the Child Jesus) as baptismal gift to Hara Amihan, wife of Cubu’s Rajah Humabon who was later named Queen Juana. At that time, not only the rulers were baptized but also about 800 of their subjects. Unfortunately however, shortly after the conversation, Magellan went into reckless adventure by fighting the reigning ruler of Mactan, Rajah Lapu-lapu, with only a handful of men. He died in the encounter. That was last April 27, 1521.
From then on, the celebration of sinulog become a tradition to all of us who believed in the miracle of the Senyor Sto. NiÑo. As the year passed a lot of tourists go there to witness the said celebration.
Sinulog is a nine-day fiesta celebration in honor of Sto. Nino. The celebration entails two major activities: the religious procession on a Saturday and the grand street parade the following day.

Lasagna

I made lasagna for dinner last night and it was so good...really really good! lol! How would you like to make your own? This dish is very simple to make. You should try it!

             Ingredients

                     1 pound sweet Italian sausage

                     3/4 pound lean ground beef

                     1/2 cup minced onion

                     1 can spaghetti sauce

                     12 lasagna noodles

                     3/4 pound mozzarella cheese, sliced

                     3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

ketchup

             Directions

Fry sausage and ground beef over medium heat until well browned. Stir in spaghetti sauce and minced onion. Simmer, covered, for about 1/2 hour, stirring occasionally. Add ketchup for sweetness.

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes. Drain noodles, and rinse with cold water.

                     Preheat oven to 375  degrees F (190 degrees C).

To assemble, spread 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange 6 noodles lengthwise over meat sauce. Top with a third of mozzarella cheese slices. Spoon 1 1/2 cups meat sauce over mozzarella, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers, and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Cover with foil: to prevent sticking, either spray foil with cooking spray, or make sure the foil does not touch the cheese.

Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil, and bake an additional 25 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes before serving.

My son was didn't really like to water drinker. He don't drink enough of water as it should. Things changed though. When he suffer from kidney infection and bladder infection with symptoms of urinary tract infection, I know I have to do something as being a mom I have to let him drinking habits and he started drinking water daily. He drink a lot of water now just because I always remind him to drink a water and also replacement of cranberry juice which is really helpful for him for his own health, which in turn makes him go to the bathroom more often than he would prefer.

Why drink plenty of water?
The obvious benefit of drinking water is that it replenishes an ingredient that is essential to our body. Almost 60% of your body is comprised of water, so how can it not be important? In the course of a day, our body depletes itself of water through urine, sweat, and normal cellular activity. Lack of adequate water slows down our metabolism and interferes with healing, toxin removal, removal of old cells and replacement with new tissue. Therefore, drinking plenty of water is an important part of both daily life and toxic cleansing.

2010 BCS Champion

Today ends the football season. I so enjoyed the football games and it will be long months without football games again. Sometimes, I can't imagine myself how much I became a football fan. To think that I never knew what football is before I came to watch online, it is somewhat amazing...

Anyway, The Crimson Tide of Alabama is the 2010 BCS Champion. They deserved it for they played well. I just wish that McCoy didn't get injured it would have been a better game. Nonetheless, Crimson Tide won it and congratulations to all the BAMA fans!

Well, it has been a wonderful year of football sports and I am looking forward to another season.

The love for cooking

                I have to update all my skills of cooking coz lately I been busy sewing @ home so now the chef was busy cooking in the kitchen....and would love to share it with guys feel free to grab my new recipe....wanting what makes my foods more tasty it just because I am using a magic sarap really nom nom nom....

Place all of the ingredients into the slow cooker.

Cook on the high temperature setting for about 4 hours or cook on the low temperature setting for about 8 hours.

Remove the ham bones from the slow cooker, cool slightly, and remove the meat from the bones; then discard the bones, fat, and skin, and add the meat back into the slow cooker.

Reheat the soup for an additional 30 minutes prior to serving.

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Cook Time: 4 hours

Tip: Make this soup ahead, if possible, because it tastes better on the second day.

Tip: A ham shank will provide more meat and flavor.

How do you like mushrooms? Have you ever tried using dried mushrooms? Well I use dried mushrooms all the time, and I prefer to buy dried ones than fresh ones. If you are planning to buy dried mushrooms, here's some tips for yah!
Inspect the color. Faded hues signal the dried mushrooms may have been on the shelf too long, with less potent flavor and aroma than fresh ones. Select ounces, not pounds. Unless you're making stew for 50, buy a little at a time. You'll save money--and have fresher mushrooms.

Store tight. Keep dried mushrooms in airtight containers to avoid possible bug infestations.

How to Prepare Dried Mushrooms
-Soak dried mushrooms in hot water, broth, or wine for 5 to 10 minutes.

-Even faster: Cover and microwave for 1 to 2 minutes.

Happy New Year!

Here's the Silverware and dinnerware rule:

Eat to your left, drink to your right. Any food dish to the left is yours, and any glass to the right is yours.

Starting with the knife, fork, or spoon that is farthest from your plate, work your way in, using one utensil for each course. The salad fork is on your outermost left, followed by your dinner fork. Your soup spoon is on your outermost right, followed by your beverage spoon, salad knife and dinner knife. Your dessert spoon and fork are above your plate or brought out with dessert. If you remember the rule to work from the outside in, you'll be fine.

Use one of two methods when using the fork and knife:

American Style: Knife in right hand, fork in left hand holding food. After a few bite-sized pieces of food are cut, place knife on edge of plate with blades facing in. Eat food by switching fork to right hand (unless you are left handed). A left hand, arm or elbow on the table is bad manners.

Continental/European Style: Knife in right hand, fork in left hand. Eat food with fork still in left hand. The difference is that you don't switch hands-you eat with your fork in your left hand, with the prongs curving downward. Both utensils are kept in your hands with the tines pointed down throughout the entire eating process. If you take a drink, you do not just put your knife down, you put both utensils down into the resting position: cross the fork over the knife.

Once used, your utensils, including the handles, must not touch the table again. Always rest forks, knives, and spoons on the side of your plate or in the bowl.

For more formal dinners, from course to course, your tableware will be taken away and replaced as needed.

To signal that your are done with the course, rest your fork, tines up, and knife blade in, with the handles resting at five o'clock an tips pointing to ten o'clock on your plate.

Any unused silverware is simply left on the table.

Roasted Pork Loin and Vegetables

This is a very simple yet delicious and nutritious meal. It seems so surreal! I feel like the days pass by so quick.

Anyway, this is my favorite holiday movies:

1. A Christmas Story. Ralphie, a young boy growing up in the '40's, dreams of owning a Red Rider BB gun. He sets out to convince the world this is the perfect gift. But along the way, he runs into opposition from his parents, his teacher, and even good 'ol Santa Claus himself.

2. It's a Wonderful Life. George Bailey spends his entire life giving up his big dreams for the good of his town, Bedford Falls, as we see in flashback. But in the present, on Christmas Eve, he is broken and suicidal over the misplacing of an $8000 loan and the machinations of the evil millionaire, Mr. Potter. His guardian angel, Clarence, falls to Earth, literally, and shows him how his town, family, and friends would turn out if he had never been born. George meant so much to so many people; should he really throw it all away?

3. Christmas with the Kranks. Based on John Grisham's novel Skipping Christmas, Christmas With the Kranks revolves around Nora (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Luther Krank's (Tim Allen) decision to put their normally fanatical enthusiasm for the holidays aside for a tropical cruise. With their daughter in Peru with the Peace Corps, the Kranks believe it just isn't worth it; thus, no presents, Christmas trees, or decorations of any kind will adorn their house to the great consternation of their neighbor Vic (Dan Aykroyd). Just as it looks like Christmas will be successfully skipped, Blair (Julie Gonzalo) throws a major kink into her plans when she suddenly has a change of heart and announces she'll be coming home for Christmas after all.

These are few of the movies which is set during holidays which I love watching:

Die Hard. It's Christmas time in L.A., and there's an employee party in progress on the 30th floor of the Nakatomi Corporation building. The revelry comes to a violent end when the partygoers are taken hostage by a group of terrorists headed by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), who plan to steal the 600 million dollars locked in Nakatomi's high-tech safe. In truth, Gruber and his henchmen are only pretending to be politically motivated to throw the authorities off track; also in truth, Gruber has no intention of allowing anyone to get out of the building alive. Meanwhile, New York cop John McClane (Bruce Willis) has come to L.A. to visit his estranged wife, Holly (Bonnie Bedelia), who happens to be one of the hostages.

Home Alone. Home Alone is the highly successful and beloved family comedy about a young boy named Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) who is accidentally left behind when his family takes off for a vacation in France over the holiday season. Once he realizes they've left him "home alone," he learns to fend for himself and, eventually has to protect his house against two bumbling burglars (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) who are planning to rob every house in Kevin's suburban Chicago neighborhood.

Christmas Holiday Craft

How would you like to try a simple and easy to
sandwiching a poster-board circle between
two decorated felt circles and then sewing them together with a blanket
stitch. Cut a length of dowel for a stick and insert it in the bottom
