Website indexing is the main part of website promotion because if your website not cached in search engine, it will not benefit in any manner because search engine will not show your website in their search results and the user will not able to see your website to get avail any services and products.

Creating a new website is tough because when you first create, your website is completely unknown, you have no links anywhere that pointing to your website, and your website not found in the search engines. Then what do you do?

I did work on many projects and I've experienced many different methods of getting websites indexed.

Here are some tips to getting listed in Google:-

1) Submit your website URL to Google

The first step is to submit your website in Google's free submit-your-site form by login to your account. Submit your home page only and Google's crawler, will crawl the rest pages. If you have a sitemap.xml file then google will crawl the website properly & easily. Google use to crawl all pages timely but there is guaranteed to be indexed.

2) Do Linking From A Site That Google Crawls Regularly

Get linked to a site that Google crawls. So when it happened then the crawler also visit your website. As like this if you add yours to many websites, Google will find you more and it will increase the backlinks for your website.

3) Submit Website To other search engines & DMOZ

Find some other top search engines & submit website details so that all search engines can show results include your website. Also submit your web site to the Open Directory Project index by this URL: http://www.dmoz.org/add.html

4) Add an XML sitemap in Website

In simple word:-A sitemap is a list of your all pages in a single page. The sitemap is user friendly and it gives them a quick way to navigate your website.

An XML sitemap tells Google about all your pages. If you have a website with 100 plus pages then an XML sitemap will help indexing soon. Google sitemap should be created in XML format. XML is similar to HTML. you can use any of "XML Sitemap Generator" to create sitemap quickly

5) Ignore to use “Under Construction Pages”.

6) Start Tagging with Digg, Delicious and other Social Bookmarking Sites.

7) Don't Leave blank page by writting there "Coming Soon" or "Content to be added".

8) Get Quality inbound links

You can also do something to get quality inbond links. there are too many source to get high quality links like: themetic link building, tagging & bookmarking, directory, article, classifieds, press release and more.

If you have too many links by another quality websites that already crawls by Google, then its a plus point to get indexed soon.

What is Robots.txt

A robots.txt is a file that tells search engine robots to crawl or ignore some specified files, directories of the website. By this we can restrict robots to visit any specified files or folders.

Search engines periodically visit your website and index your pages accordingly content & page quality. But you may have problem if you don't want to cache some pages by search engines. Some of pages are useful inside but not for publicly. For example you have an admin pannel in your website for manage website and the path is "sitename.com/admin/administrator" that is used for user login & online work. You probably don't want to show it out in search engine results or want to restrict for robots, then you should create a txt file named "robots.txt" to stop crawling by google search engine. Also, there are some cases of sensitive files or folders on your website that you want to make private, you will also prefer that search engines do not crawl these files or folders.

Robots.txt File

The robots.txt is very simple to create. You can add a countless list in robots.txt file, After uploading this file search engine spiders will not follow the files or folders that you restricted in robots.txt.

Here is given the code to create the "robots.txt" file:

In my last post I've discussed on "How to Analyze Your SEO Competitors" and I also given some points. but today I am going to describe them all.

1. Find Your Competitors First

First of all you have to find out, who are your tough competitors. Find them and analyze them properly. because if you are not in Google top 10 & your competitors are present in top, then take help from their strategy. Check all top ten competitor's website & find what they are doing, like: meta tags, content, keywords, landing pages, submissions (where they are submitting details), backlinks, social networking profiles & work, PPC Ads etc.

2. Check Competitor's Website Manually

The next step is to check their sites and analyze them manually. You should check website design, theme, concept, flash, header & footer structure, landing pages, content quality & more. It will help you to create more useful & user friendly website.

3. Analyze Keywords your Competitors Using

Keywords are always the most important factor in web promotion. because customers are connect you with "keywords" but it depends how much your keyword is powerful. Because if you are using long tail keywords with less monthly searches, will not generate single traffic on your website. On the other hand if you are using keywords with 2 or 3 words combination and with good monthly searches, you'll definitely get more quality traffic. You can check all competitor's keywords in "Google Keywords Suggestion Tool" & get idea how many keywords are good for your website. You should also check the keyword density of competitors. Also, don't forget to check keywords location like: metatags, content, headings, image tags, etc.

4. Check the Backlinks of Your Competitor's website

Backlinks are the main source to get good rankings. There are many tools to check all backlinks of websites. check your competitor's backlinks quality, anchor text & page rank etc.
By this you'll have some ideas to do linking. For example: if you have all the quality links where your competitors already added their links, then its very simple for you to contact the webmaster of popular websites & get added your link too. It will really help you to get good backlinks & ranking as well.

5. Check Their SMO Work Power

Social media is now being a main source to generate genuine traffic. All competitors are following social media optimization to promote their business. Social bookmarking submission is one of the type of SMO. You can start social bookmarking submission & give tags in all submissions to get more benefits from SMO. You can check your competitor's website, where they are submitting.

You should also create accounts in top social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter, Google plus, Linkedin, Myspace and many more. You can search if your competitors have profiles on these SMO websites. Check their all networks, posts, likes, friends, pages & all about strategies they are using. Follow their strategies & put your own efforts.

6. Check Their Search Queries in Alexa

Alexa is a very good tool to analyze a website traffic, because Alexa is using to collect data according to website's behavior. its showing web traffic, queries detail, famous links & more with a self rank named (Alexa Rank). So check competitor's website in Alexa & get all info quickly. By the quaries you will know their main keywords that users are searching to find them in search results.

1	Keywords Use in Title Tag	Title Tag is the one of the most important part in SEO because its showing as a page title that represent page content relevancy & search engines giving the results on the behalf of it.. Make the title tag short as between 60 to 70 correctors and set the keywords in title tags by priority.
2	Keywords in URL or in Landing page	Keywords are helping a lot if they are present in URLs. Whether they are in Domain Name or in the landing pages URL, both will help to get ranking. For example if your website is related to "shoe market" then you can use it in domain name as "shoemarket.com" or you can also use it in landing page as "http://www.domainname.com/shoe-market.html"
3	Keywords in Anchor Text	The anchor text is very important to get inbound links, because it creates a valuable vote for the site. In general you will get the relevant backlink & traffic if you place the keyword in Anchor Tag.
4	Keywords in Headings Tags- H1, H2, H3	H1, H2, H3 tags are another most important factor for getting the top rank in Google. Just need to follow the few points while applying these tags in web page content. Don’t try to put the targeted keywords in H1 tag but you can use in H2 and H3 tags. And if you want to use the targeted keyword in the H1 tag then my suggestion is to use with some other text also. Try this and you will definitely get better results.

6	Keywords in Metatags	Meta Tags are also very important as same as the title tag. So, put the main keyphrases in description tag and keywords as well.
7	Keyword Phrases	Keywords Phrases are those words which we generally target in the website content to get the relevant traffic from the search engines. Keywords can be used in two different ways i.e. General & Specific – e.g. General Keyword (“SEO Service”) & Specific Keyword (“SEO Service In India”). Use general keywords if your target audience is for the whole world and the specific keywords for a particular country or region.
8	Secondary Keywords	Select the keywords & set priority by competition & searches. Give the high priority to "Main Keywords" but also give the value to "Secondary Keywords". you can use them as H2 or H3 Tags, or also can use for submission. For Example if you are targeting "SEO company" for New York. Suppose you are getting less traffic because of high competition on this keyword, but if you are targeting "SEO Company in New York" then you will get less traffic worldwide but also keep in mind that you will get better targeted traffic in local Google search in New York.
10	Keyword Mistyped or Misspelled	Mistyped or misspelled keywords by the user in search engine is very general thing. And if your site is optimized for misspelled keywords then you might get good traffic but it gives a bad impression. So that its better to not use those types of keywords to get traffic.
11	Delete Useless Keywords	When you are optimizing a huge amount of keywords, Specially those keywords which are unrelated to your website theme, then this will direclty effect on website. So, use only related keywords & delete them all that are unrelated.
12	Keyword Stuffing	You will get the different theory of keyword stuffing from every person. But in Google terms a keyword stuffing is one such method in which the content is loaded with repeated key phrases and it’s a black hat technique. So, avoid this method and try to put keyword density in content not more than 3% according to the content word limit..
